Ok the last of the new rugged Fortinet FortiSwitches is here and it’s an absolute TANK! The FSR-216F-POE features: 16x 10M/100M/1G RJ45 and 4x 1G/10G SFP/SFP+ Including 16 802.3af/at/bt (90W) and a total PoE budget of 360W I’m not sure I have the applications for FOUR 10G ports or that kinda PoE but I guess this is one of those better to have-and-not-need than need-and-not-have situations 🤣 I certainly have wanted more port density on the din-rail and am happy to see it. So who among you works in the verticals demanding this kinda bandwidth and power? I am guessing transportation with cameras…others? We’re going to be taking the three new SKUs and doing some bench testing, mostly around MRP and topplogies to an upstream gate, sanity checking some supposed improvements on flexibility from when we first dove into Forti. Hope to report back soon! P.S. If you saw my power connector post the other day, note that unlike the 108F and 112F, this guy still features screw terminal blocks! #industrialnetworking #otnetworking #powerfordays | 15 comments on LinkedIn

The conveyor belt of new Fortinet OT switch SKUs continues to roll out.

The conveyor belt of new Fortinet OT switch SKUs continues to roll out. Below you'll see the new FSR-112F-POE which I believe is replacing the FSR-112D-POE. What do y'all think of the new form factor? My picture may be slightly misleading as the new model while skinnier and shorter than the old one is deeper. HxWxD (mm) dimensions New - 127 x 66.5 x 150 vs Old - 154 x 96.4 x 105.5 Personally I like that the new one is taking up less space on the din-rail and aesthetically prefer the density of the new face. I understand aesthetics probably SHOULDN'T matter but I'm not going to lie to you about how it makes my eyes feel 🤣 That said I know some panel situations might prefer the shallower model and maybe miss the old face to apply labels? Let me know! The new model has added 802.3bt support; I did a quick hack job of the datasheet in the second image for a high level tale of the tape. I've got one more new model headed my way after which we will revisit our switch testing from the ground up on these. There are a few items, mostly around system architecture and management that I'm under the impression has changed significantly since we first start using Fortinet (primarily FortiGates only) so I'm hoping between the changes and this expanded catalog we may find more "fits" for the combination. #industrialnetworking #otnetworking #industrialcybersecurity | 19 comments on LinkedIn

I have been BEGGING for additional din-rail Rugged Switch SKUs from Fortinet and there’s a whole new lineup rolling out. Say hello to the first of those, the FSR-108F! 6x 1G/100M/10M RJ45 2x 1G/100M SFP -40°C to 75°C + all the FortiLink goodness that will mate up really well with FortiGate FGR-70F over my left shoulder You can manage several of these from within a single FortiGate interface and also do some crazy stuff like inTRA VLAN firewalling / microsegmentation (2nd pic). Speaking of intraVLAN blocking I recently did some bench testing of that feature and am struggling to identify the FortiHuman who can answer some of my follow up questions on the implementation. DM me if you’re the one or know the one I can zoom with about this! 🙏🏽 Christopher Blauvelt Ben Scott, M.S. Greg Bales 🔒 More to come as the rest of the new lineup starts shipping 🔥🔥🔥 #industrialnetworking #otnetworking #catalogexpansion | 16 comments on LinkedIn

Another network appliance feature I wish I encountered in all is a pretty simple one - offering a Favorites/bookmarks navigation in the Web UI. This FortiGate Web UI for example has dozens and dozens of pages but generally speaking we're spending our time in a select few. Why doesn't every product manager implement similar? Looking at you in particular, switch vendors 🙏 #industrialnetworking #otnetworking | 19 comments on LinkedIn
