DIN-rail industrial Layer 3 switching for #SCADA can often be expensive at best, cost-prohibitive at worst and sometimes isolates desirable features to CLI-only or other times out completely. IMO this is where Westermo has some truly under-appreciated offerings for #ICSnetworking. In addition to having VERY affordable SKUs with L3, keep in mind a few other tidbits:
-These L3 models ALSO have firewalling (packet filtering, packet modification, NAT, and port forwarding), configurable through the GUI (or CLI)
-These L3 models have dynamic routing including RIP and OSPF, configurable through the GUI (or CLI)
-WeOS (the operating system for all Westermo switching) is packaged as a universal firmware file. You don’t have to grab (and thereby potentially misapply) model-specific versions.
-Pretty cool and growing tool called WeConfig (free) allows you to speed up network provisioning with both multi-configuration and some light NMS features (map the network connectivity, etc.)
This kind of offering makes it far more palatable to deploy a complete distributed L3 backbone for your #ICS.
