There are about 200 aquifers in New Zealand. Two aquifers in Hawke’s Bay are the life blood of a region reliant on primary production.
These are the Heretaunga Plains and Ruataniwha Plains aquifers.

En este gran trabajo documental se va a tratar un tema importante, que a veces no es importante.
El agua disponible en nuestro planeta es solamente un 3 por ciento es agua dulce y de ese porcentaje la tercera parte se encuentra en estado solido.
Para satisfacer las necesidades de los más de 7000 millones de humanos que poblamos el planeta, solamente dispone un 1 por ciento.
Para el año 2050 la ONU prevé que la población se estabilice en unos 9600 millones de habitantes y solamente se seguirá disponiendo de esa misma cantidad, ese 1%.
Aunque se desarrollen nuevas tecnologías, con las tecnologías actualmente disponibles, no serán suficientes para satisfacer todas las necesidades.
La distribución del agua siempre ha sido un tema importante en todas las sociedades y por eso se le ha dado un gran valor.
Hoy en día, al agua, en especial al agua subterránea, se le da, un valor añadido, como instrumento de solidaridad, a eso vamos a dedicar este último episodio del documental.

DOCUMENTAL HD EL AGUA INVISIBLE, CAPITULO 09 - "EL AGUA EN LAS OBRAS SUBTERRÁNEAS Y LA MINERÍA"-
La mayor parte de las obras de excavación que se realizan en nuestras ciudades, carreteras, ferrocarriles y desde siempre en la minería, invaden el espacio del agua subterráneas, entrando en una dura competencia con ellas.
Como resultado de ello a veces es necesario actuaciones complementarias que encarecen estas obras y en otras ocasiones la naturaleza queda derrotada una vez más de tal manera que los acuíferos pueden resultar afectados drenados o contaminados, perdiéndose así este valioso recurso.
Desde hace décadas a impulsos de la creciente sensibilización medioambiental se ha desarrollado toda una normativa para regular este tipo de actuaciones, este tipo de obras, de manera que se minimicen los efectos sobre los acuíferos y sobre las aguas subterráneas.
Vamos a ver algunas de estas obras, los impactos que generan y sobre todo la manera de minimizarlos.

DOCUMENTAL HD EL AGUA INVISIBLE, CAPITULO 08 - "LAS FRONTERAS SUBTERRÁNEAS"-
En este capítulo mas que interesante de las técnicas de prospección profundas que se muestra como para los usos vitales humanos, el agua actualmente se capta a profundidades de 800 metros.
A 1000 - 1200 metros el agua ya suele estar más mineralizada, aunque podemos encontrar agua meteórica o de la lluvia o de la fusión de las nieves a mayores profundidades.
La tecnología actual nos permite acceder hasta unos 5000 metros con relativa facilidad.
A esa profundidad también hay sedimentos porosos con agua, pero ya no son actuales, sino del pasado cuando se sedimentaron estos materiales.
Junto con este agua salobre se encuentran generalmente otra serie de fluidos como Hidrocarburos.
Esta frontera subterránea nos permite otra serie de posibilidades que veremos a lo largo de este documental.

En este capítulo se muestra como el hombre lleva décadas buscando una fuente de energía que sea universal, limpia, renovable y económica.
Este recurso está presente bajo nuestros pies, el agua subterránea recoge el calor del interior de la tierra y lo pone a nuestra disposición como energía geotérmica.
Este agua subterránea, además de sus funciones medioambientales, económicas y como abastecimiento, climatiza multitud de nuestros edificios, nuestras viviendas, nuestras industrias.
Y en algunos lugares favorables sirve para generar electricidad que es aplicable a sus múltiples usos.
Los balnearios y manantiales termales también son otro uso saludable más de este preciado recurso que es el agua subterránea.
La energía del planeta es la estrella en este capítulo sin duda y si un día vamos a otro planeta, la vamos a necesitar.

En muchas regiones modela el paisaje, crea la morfología y también permite que fluya el agua por el cauce de los ríos durante todo el año.
Aparte de estas funciones ecológicas, es vital para el hombre por que es fuente de abastecimiento y también de la producción de alimentos.
Esta multiplicidad de funciones del agua subterránea a veces genera conflictos entre ellas, por eso es necesaria una gestión que permita una distribución adecuada satisfacer de una manera equilibrada todas estas funciones.

En este capítulo se muestra el agua como una fuente o recurso para el abastecimiento, los regadíos o para la industria, pero sus usos y funciones va más allá, dan vida a multitud de ecosistemas y es responsable de muchas formas del paisaje.
Por su naturaleza, el agua subterránea se extiende por toda la superficie del terreno bajo nuestros pies, de tal manera que si bien se hace susceptible a la agresión de múltiples actividades del hombre, también tiene muchos mecanismos de protección.
Debido a su carácter oculto, muchas veces por desconocimiento son objeto de múltiples formas de agresión y deterioro.

En este capítulo se muestra como la búsqueda y captación del agua subterránea que ha puesto a prueba la inteligencia y la tecnología, ya que ha requerido de las mejores técnicas disponibles en cada momento y los mejores emplazamientos para la extracción de las mismas ya sea como manantiales y galerías o por bombeo en pozos con máquinas para elevar la gran altura que había desde el nivel del agua a la superficie.
El aprovechamiento del agua subterránea por tanto siempre ha sido muy dependiente de la tecnología de cada momento.
En este capítulo nos centraremos en eso, en las captaciones de aguas subterráneas.

El carácter oculto y el origen mítico del agua subterránea hacen que el conocimiento sobre ellas esté cuajado de ideas falsas y desconocimiento, no solo para el gran público sino incluso para gestores y responsables del sector de agua.
Resulta frecuente oír en nuestros medios de comunicación conceptos falsos como la existencia de lagos, bolsas, ríos o embalses subterráneos, cuando se refieren a esta agua.
Por ello el objetivo primordial de la serie será despejar dudas, mitos y malos entendidos sobre la fase subterránea en el ciclo del agua, esencial en un mundo donde más de 2.000 millones de personas dependen del agua subterránea para el agua de boca.

Con las aguas subterráneas o “El agua invisible” se plantean problemáticas que van desde el desconocimiento y la mala gestión del territorio que son las causas de que se ciernan diversos peligros sobre los acuíferos, como pueden ser la contaminación y la explotación excesiva, hasta su utilización como fuente de energía geotérmica o de los acuíferos profundos, no aptos para otros usos como almacenes geológicos, de CO2, residuos o gases.
También se abordan los diversos problemas que encierra su adecuada gestión y su explotación: ya sea para el abastecimiento de núcleos urbanos, para uso agrícola o industrial, para usos energéticos o para almacenamiento subterráneo de larga y segura duración.
Con ello se pretende abordar todos los aspectos del agua subterránea: científico, técnico, ambiental, explotación y uso, gestión y cooperación.

At present, there are five GDM filter kiosk systems in place, and each provides up to 6000 litres of water per day to the schools and local communities.
