"I don't write reviews often, but when I do....It's because the place deserves it. La Promesa is an authentic hole in the wall. Although the seating is a bit cramped, the service is excellent, and the food is as good as you'll find. I worked in San Salvador as a consultant and the papusas (cheese and mixed) here are absolutely incredible. Horchata was great too. If you've never tried hand-formed, cheese filled, skillet-fried masa, you don't know what you're missing. Seriously, try the papusas! -Jeff G.
