John Delphus McDuffie Jr. (December 5, 1938 – August 11, 1991) was an American racecar driver. He competed in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series from 1963 to 1991, collecting 106 top-10 finishes during his career and holding the record for the most starts in NASCAR's top level without a win with 653.
After attending his first race in Bowman Gray Stadium at the age of ten, McDuffie was inspired by racers Curtis Turner, Glen Wood, Billy Myers, and others to become a race car driver. His racing career started in dirt track racing. He picked the No. 70 early on because it was easy to paint and easy to remember.
Financially, he was never remotely close to being rich. He was a blue collar independent who raced against factory backed teams with big sponsors. He worked hard, recycled used parts, and drove an early 1970’s ramp truck to races across the country before losing his life in a 1991 wreck at Watkins Glen. He's going the distance, he's going for speed.

Southern Living named Ocean Isle Beach the South’s Best Tiny Town in 2018. Locals agree Ocean Isle Beach is Paradise Found. At the center of the 7-mile island, coming over the bridge Causeway Drive ends at the Ocean Isle Beach Pier. This 968’ wooden pier has stood as a landmark of the island since it was built in 1957 by Odell and Virginia Williamson. OIB Pier management values family tradition, honors its history and works hard to maintain the longstanding sentimental traditions of the pier yet carefully updates the complex for the modern-day tourist.
The fun begins at the pier house entrance with a front door historic photograph of the pier house 60 years ago. Come on in to see your OIB Pier today, and let us help you continue to make lots of summer fun in the sun memories!
Come on in to see and appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of classic muscle cars and vintage automobiles. Go down memory lane at Wheels of Yesteryear! Wheels of Yesteryear Vintage Auto Museum opened in the Myrtle Beach area September 30, 2009. The local community was quick to embrace the museum and it’s inclusion as one of the area’s tourist attractions. Word quickly spread, and our visitors began coming from all over the globe. As Myrtle Beach is a popular destination for guests from all over the world, we’ve seen visitors from all 50 states and more than 20 countries.
The cars showcased at Wheels of Yesteryear belong to long-time car enthusiast Paul Cummings and his wife Carol. The complete collection consists of over 150 cars. Cummings’ life-long admiration of American-made cars and trucks was his motivation for displaying his private collection in public. This amazing collection has been over 55 years in the making.
