IMO HOUSING METHOD IS THE MOST SUITABLE FOR NOVICE PIG FARMERS #piggery #agriculture #pigs
To create a healthy deep bed litter flooring for natural pig farming, you can use indigenous micro-organisms (IMO's). These tiny organisms break down fecal matter quickly, leaving you with a nutrient-rich material and no unpleasant odors or flies. In tropical regions, where pigs and flies are often associated, this is particularly important. To foster the rapid anaerobic digestion of waste, you can make a homemade enzyme/microbe mixture.
Micro-organisms are everywhere, playing essential roles in the Earth's cycles of carbon and nitrogen, as well as in decomposing organic matter and recycling waste. They are a vital component of the natural pig farming deep bed system.
Here's how you can make your own IMO solution:
(A) Take 1 kg of maize meal and mix it with a little water until it forms a ball. Divide this lump into four parts and put each one in a porous plastic bag. Bury the four plastics in four different places on your land for seven days, ensuring that they won't get wet due to rain or attract rats. This will allow the posho to attract (inoculate) microorganisms from the soil. After seven days, you'll notice that the posho has "whitish mold" all over it.
(B) Put all four portions of posho together and thoroughly mix them with about 1 kg of sugar.
(C) Put this mixture in a perforated plastic bag and hang it in a safe place for another seven days, where there are no rats. Place a bucket or basin just below the hanged plastic to collect the dripping liquid, which you'll need later.
(D) After seven days, open up the plastic bag, break up the mixture, and mix it with a little water (about 500ml) until it forms a thick liquid. Add 2 kg of maize bran and 1 kg of sugar, stirring well. Finally, mix in about 200 liters of water in a drum and wait for seven days. Cover the drum with a cloth or used mosquito net to prevent flies and other insects from getting into your solution. After seven days, your IMO solution will be ready to use. It will have a sweet smell and be ready to help maintain a healthy deep bed litter flooring
