Proper air ventilation and filtration key to reopening schools safely, Harvard expert says
Safely reopening school buildings is achievable with masking and proper air ventilation and filtration to combat potential airborne coronavirus transmission, according to a Harvard health expert.
Is Ventilation And Air Filtration In Massachusetts' Classrooms Good Enough In A Pandemic?
The state has offered limited guidance to districts on how to address the issue, and experts say there's no one answer to the challenge — in part because every school has its own issues.
Airborne Spread of SARS-CoV-2 and a Potential Role for Air Disinfection with GUV fixtures
In the context of potential aerosol spread of SARS-CoV-2 infection, this Viewpoint argues for use of upper-room germicidal UV (GUV) fixtures as a means to disinfect circulating air and prevent spread of COVID-19 and other infections in health care settings.
Evolving Technologies for Decontaminating Healthcare Environments whitepaper
Disinfectant dispersed from HVAC systems. Natural catalytic converter inserted into the ducts of an HVAC system. This new device converts H2O and O2 in the air into hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The device uses a multi-wavelength ultraviolet light to illuminate target surfaces consisting of a honeycomb matrix treated with photocatalytic coating consisting of titanium oxide (TiO2) and other reactive metals added to enhance the overall catalytic effect. When inserted into the ducts of the HVAC system the device reacts with water molecules in humidity to continuously create predominately H2O2 molecules which exit the duct and disperse throughout the targeted area safely covering the surfaces of occupied rooms
Essential Science: Killing bacteria with new biocide mist
The elimination of pathogenic bacteria is a key part of contamination control. However, many disinfectants are either not available in vapor form or they are harmful to users. A new ‘breathable mist’ offers a solution.
Resistance of Aerosolized Bacterial Viruses to Four Germicidal Products used as aerosols
Viral diseases can spread through a variety of routes including aerosols. Yet, limited data are available on the efficacy of aerosolized chemicals to reduce viral loads in the air. Bacteriophages (phages) are often used as surrogates for hazardous viruses ...
UV lights developed at BU kill coronavirus on surfaces, in air
Researchers in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Binghamton University studied how a certain type of ultraviolet light, UV-C, can kill viruses like coronavirus.
Why aren’t ozone generators, UV lights, or air purifiers on List N? Can I use these or other pesticidal devices to kill the virus that causes COVID-19? | Coronavirus (COVID-19) | US EPA
Learn about whether air purifiers and other devices should be used against the novel coronavirus.
How Airlines Are Disinfecting Planes After Coronavirus
Qantas used Viraclean, a hospital-grade disinfectant, while Korean Air opted for MD-125. That’s a diluted version of D-125, a cleaning solution made by Microgen and used in industries from health care to poultry farming.

***2011 {Importantly, C difficile spores. Zimek fogger used to disperse EPA-registered disinfectants. User instructions needed. Most surfaces in patient rooms are non-porous.
Comparison of the Efficacy of a Hydrogen Peroxide Dry-Mist Disinfection System and Sodium Hypochlorite Solution for Eradication of Clostridium Difficile Spores
In situ experiments indicate that the hydrogen peroxide dry-mist disinfection system is significantly more effective than 0.5% sodium hypochlorite solution at eradicating C. difficile spores and might represent a new alternative for disinfecting the rooms of patients with C. difficile infection.
Halo Fogger: What Are “Logs,” and Why Do They Matter in Preventing Infections? - Halosil International
Disinfection professional today are generally concerned with what percentage of a given germ is killed by a particular process or disinfectant. The highest percentage that is generally used is 99.9999%. In scientific research papers, this percentage is written as “ a 6 log10 reduction”, but in medical shorthand it’s known as “a greater-than 6-log reduction” …
New Method to Reduce COVID-19 Transmission - The Need for Medical Air Disinfection is Now
May 2020. {Circulating wind ultraviolet air disinfector.} At present, the route of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 is still controversial, but the major route of the COVID-19 to rapidly spread through indoor environments, is caused by the airborne route of the virus carriers. At the same time, when patients with SARS-CoV-2 go to see a doctor, their bodies and clothing may be contaminated with viruses. The negative pressure diagnosis room may reduce the spread of the virus, but the number of negative pressure diagnosis rooms is very scarce. Our proposal is to use a circulating wind ultraviolet air disinfector as an additional indoor protection measure, to reduce the risk of airborne transmission of the COVID-19.
STUDIES ON AEROSOL DISINFECTION OF POULTRY PREMISES -Non-CD Disinfectants | Semantic Scholar
SUMMARY: A study has been made of the effectiveness of an Ibcol-triethylene glycol mixture for either atmospheric or surface disinfection in various types of poultry premises. Only a moderate bactericidal action was obtained with atmospheric disinfection using E. coli as the test organism. With a stronger mixture, a complete kill was obtained for surface disinfection with overnight exposure but the reduction in numbers of the test organisms with 30 min exposure did not exceed 75% in any experiment. Very satisfactory results were obtained with a formalin-water aerosol.
Effect of Different Disinfectants on Bacterial Aerosol Diversity in Poultry Houses
Ozone, available chlorine, quaternary ammonium salt, glutaraldehyde, and mixed disinfectant. he concentrations of airborne aerobic bacteria in the empty broiler houses after application of different disinfectants were significantly reduced compared to a house untreated with disinfectant (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), and the number of inhalable particles of airborne aerobic bacteria sharply decreased after disinfection of empty poultry houses.
Navy fogging -NRL Chemists’ Rapid Response Cleans Up
“Quaternary ammonium compounds were the most sensible solution for large area shipboard use, because they can effectively deactivate the virus by destroying its protein membrane,” Wynne said. “There are other chemicals that can be used to deactivate the virus, but they would be more corrosively aggressive to a ship’s delicate ecosystem."
Activity of a Dry Mist Hydrogen Peroxide System Against Environmental Clostridium Difficile Contamination in Elderly Care Wards
2008. Clostridium difficile causes serious healthcare-associated infections. Infection control is difficult, due in part to environmental contamination with C. difficile spores. These spores are relatively resistant to cleaning and disinfection. The activity of a dry mist hydrogen peroxide decontamination …
Airborne product: ORP Effectivity Of Bio-hydrox Mineral Oxychloride Solution As An Aerosol
Bio-hydrox is a non-toxic chemically-based advanced oxidation agent for high yield production of hydroxyl radicals, superoxide, singlet oxygen, and hydroperoxide anion among other reactive oxygen species. They work in synergy and deliver more oxidation potential than each specie alone (2.8 V to 2.9 V). It is 100% soluble and is able to oxidize most microorganisms instantaneously. It is breathable when low concentrations of dilutions in water are aerosolized. It is a great candidate to use with commercial sprayers, foggers and nebulizers for sanitation control of large spaces. It destroys bi...
