Shortening the Let's Encrypt Chain of Trust
Shortening the Let's Encrypt Chain of Trust
When Let’s Encrypt first launched, we needed to ensure that our certificates were widely trusted. To that end, we arranged to have our intermediate certificates cross-signed by IdenTrust’s DST Root CA X3. This meant that all certificates issued by those intermediates would be trusted, even while our own ISRG Root X1 wasn’t yet. During subsequent years, our Root X1 became widely trusted on its own. Come late 2021, our cross-signed intermediates and DST Root CA X3 itself were expiring.

Making static Hugo sites dynamic with htmx and Go
Making static Hugo sites dynamic with htmx and Go
Intro I’ve encountered a lot of skepticism around the idea of adding dynamic behavior to Hugo sites with hugo-htmx-go-template. That skepticism is well founded, because Hugo bills itself as a static site generator. So why would anyone want to add dynamic functionality to Hugo sites when Hugo aspires to be a simple static site generator? Because Hugo is a lot more than a static site generator. “Staticness” is simply the end result of a lot of great site building features coming together in the form of HTML and its accompanying assets.
