Where Do LLMs Struggle the Most?🤔
Think of an LLM as a student on an academic journey. It begins with pre-training, where models like GPT-4, PaLM and LLaMA absorb knowledge from massive amounts of text and multimodal data. Once they have this foundation, they move to fine-tuning. Here they specialize through instruction tuning, alignment techniques such as RLHF(Reinforcement Learning through Human Feedback) and efficient methods like LoRA.
To make these models practical, researchers work on efficiency. Techniques like quantization and pruning shrink the computational load so they can run on real hardware. After that comes evaluation, where models are tested on summarization, translation, reasoning, classification and sentiment analysis.
Challenges such as bias, memorization, safety, toxicity and high costs continue to demand attention.
Despite these issues, LLMs are already reshaping medicine, education, law, finance, science, robotics and coding.

This specification defines a simple and practical Web protocol, capable of expressing the reservation of rights relative to text & data mining (TDM) applied to lawfully accessible Web content, and to ease the discovery of TDM licensing policies associated with such content.
How Generative AI Is flooding the web with deepfakes and disinformation | TechCrunch
As generative AI tools become more widely available – and become cheaper, or even free, to use – they’re being abused by an array of actors, including state actors, to create deepfakes and sow disinformation online. In this session at Disrupt 2024, hear from CCDH CEO Imran Ahmed, CITRIS UC Director of the CITRIS Policy Lab […]
'AI slop' videos may be annoying, but they're racking up views — and ad money
Critics say that "slop" videos made with generative AI are often repetitive or useless. But they get millions of views — and platforms are grappling with what to do about them.

Facebook teaches early lesson in unbounded AI risk
Meta’s chatbot rules court third-rail social issues, like luring users into fantasy. Releasing erratic and powerful tech to consumers and beyond is inherently dangerous. Some $120 bln in venture-backed deals this year and trillions of imputed value gloss over a looming backlash.
A unique survey by MIT Media Lab researchers and an international team of colleagues reveals global attitudes about autonomous vehicles and safety issues.
