Before I begin this series, let me tell you the power of branding. “Beatin’ Da Block” sounds a mixtape label created by a teen that wants to be what he sees on tv and rap, baggy pants, jazz music, Elvis hips, danger of backwards caps, blah blah blah. My brand like my name, has followed me for so long that the meaning has shifted to me or the culture that sparked has completely changed the perception of it. Yet, it will not die, brands are the closest thing to immortality we as a human collective have achieved. They evolve with each generation, but like energy, they cannot be destroyed. In my naivety and spiteful anger, tho righteous, was misplaced and misplaced emotions are why Mr. Spock will be calling humans illogical in some form or another meanwhile the device this is being consumed on will be outdated and my remarks quaint.
