Note: color contrast may be one of the most challenging things to get "right" since the effects are different for different people. There is an ideal contrast ratio - high enough but not too high. For example, the background white in Blackboard isn't pure white - it is a light gray - as dark black text on white background can cause several problems for people. Text that is too light is also a problem!
