US seeks bigger role as power shifts to Asia -- The Australian
(2011-02-03) -- Charles Morrison, president of the East-West Centre in Washington, said the US viewed joining the ASEAN process, via the annual East Asia Summits, as important because of the global power transition under way, "helping project our values into the international system".

(2011-02-16)The expected vagueness from Beijing makes for an opening for provinces where equitability is seen as the biggest challenge for adoption of a national carbon reduction goal, said ZhongXiang, Zhang, carbon expert with the East-West Center in Hawaii. "It's likely that some carbon intensive provinces and sectors will end up thinking that their targets are very unfair," he said.

..."They are mistaken if they think these platforms are used to earn profits: meeting the target is the important thing, not making money," said Zhang of the East-West Center.
