Four people in California describe what it was like to lose their homes to wildfires twice in six years: First to the Camp Fire in 2018, then to the ongoing Park Fire.
Timelapse video from Tuesday (August 6) shows a fire vortex whirling and getting more intense as the Park Fire continues to burn. The blaze has grown into California's fourth largest on record, burning an area larger than the city of Los Angeles across two counties.
A fire southwest of the Denver suburb of Littleton encroached on several large subdivisions Thursday. Neighborhoods with nearly 600 homes were ordered to evacuate after the fire — of unknown origin — spread quickly Tuesday afternoon and overnight when relatively few firefighters were on the scene.
