Ground News - Facebook restricts Palestinian news but boosts Israel's: BBC research
Palestinian news outlets have suffered a drop in audience engagement after being hampered by Facebook, research has found. BBC News Arabic compiled engagement data on the Facebook pages of 20 prominent Palestinian-based news organizations in the year leading up to the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel and in the year since. The data showed a 77% decline after the attacks. Meanwhile, journalists at Palestine TV have shared statistics showing a 60% drop in the number of people seeing their posts.

When you say “Genocide bad,” Zionists will counter, “But Hamas .” “But Hamas” comments try to derail you from talking about Israeli violence by asking you to first address the violence of the Palestinian resistance. Comments might sound like, “Do you condemn Hamas?” or “But Hamas started this!” They may share facts, such as, “Hamas abducted children,” lies such as, “Hamas beheaded babies,” or—trickiest of all—partial truths, like, “Hamas calls for a genocide of Jews in its charter.”

Kamala Harris won the debate. People being bombed in Gaza did not. The banner headline across the top of the New York Times home page -- “Harris Puts Trump on Defensive in Fierce Debate” -- was accurate enough. But despite the good news for people understandably eager for Trump to be defeated, the Harris debate performance was a moral and political tragedy.
