I absolutely empathize with him reading Chomsky in high school and having no one to talk to it about - we need to be constantly pushing for critical thinking, so we can have nuanced conversations like these.

Because these days I find myself educating on (what I define as) pretty basic stuff, when we are at such a critical juncture we should be WELL beyond the basics at this point.
