Discover Dr. Thomas Story Kirkbride and his moral model of mental illness treatment. His belief that physical environment affects mental health had a significant impact on the design of the Richardson Olmsted Campus. The first patients were admitted in 1880. In the associated lesson plan, to be used with the program Reimagining a Buffalo Landmark, students will analyze the Kirkbride Plan using multiple sources, and understand Kirkbride’s impact on mental health as well as the creation of the Richardson Olmsted Campus.
