Community Resources

Community resources address local interests, history, environment, government, and more. They provide information for your area as compared to other resources that provide information on a grander scale. Community resources are not only accessible online, they can be brought into the classroom, or have the classroom brought to the resource. Community resources are not always a website or document, they can also be people who support your lesson. For a library media specialist this is important as you will be able to provide teachers and students with information that impacts them locally such as state / city / town government, people, landmarks, agriculture, laws, history, and more whether in-person or online. These resources can provide students with a sense of connection to their location and get a deeper understanding of where they live along with providing real-world examples for what you are teaching.
