Whatre some good things to start with for zato
[5:21 AM]
I know what/how to do his moves for the most part but in an actual game i find sometimes eddie just gets hit

That's a big fucking question. I think I would start with being comfortable with Solo Zato combos and blockstrings into either Drill or Summon.
[5:40 AM]
Blockstrings into Drill enforce respect, and blockstrings into Summon (eg, 236P) get Eddie out (and in some cases like 5H>236P are frametraps)(edited)
[5:44 AM]
If Eddie is dead (poor Eddie ), your job is to waste your opponent's time. Solo Zato is pretty good at that. You can super-jump and fly around, use tediously long blockstrings, etc.
[5:46 AM]
once you get into pressuring people, your job is pressure people without totally expending Eddie gauge. You'll need to Unsummon sometimes to recoup Eddie Gauge. If you open someone up, you can expend Eddie for damage, but you don't always have to.
[5:47 AM]
If you're confident you can open someone up a second time, maybe you unsummon mid combo instead of using your max damage -S- loop.
[5:47 AM]
Zato is a fucking cool character. You get to style on people all day.

this is all my opinion btw
1. know how solo Zato works, mostly stuff like pokes in neutral, combos, all that jazz. the most common thing you'll learn with solo Zato is how to convert 2D since it gives HKD allowing for summon
2. learn how to instant recall (what i call it). before learning how to use eddie, you need to know all the possible ways to unsummon him in order to make efficient use of eddie meter. Instant recall is done by summoning eddie with his clap specials (pierce, drill, leap, oppose) with 236X, and then immediately doing unsummon 214HS halfway through the attack animation. This is great for using eddie as a non-committal poke as it keeps eddie out of danger thanks to unsummon. it is also + on block for some special like Leap if i remember. instant recall is simple, but one of the many ways towards learning eddie meter management.
in terms of actual matches it's difficult at first to keep eddie alive without him getting hit. obviously eddie loses to projectiles and fat disjoints like axl but learning what he can challenge is important. in my exp, Leap has a fat hitbox and covers a large area, probably very difficult to hit eddie out of. pierce is probably eddie's most vulnerable special but it's very safe and can "possibly" (probably) go under some attacks due to how low he is to the ground. I'm not sure about his drill special but i'm assuming that all the drills are disjoints and that he's projected behind his drills. Oppose speaks for itself. using Drunkard Shade while Eddie is out, throws him across the screen setting up for potential sandwich scenarios that keep eddie safe at the cost of traditional neutral poking.
overrall. trying to teach how to manage eddie imo is an enigma to me. but formulating how to learn simple stuff with eddie paves the way for more creativity

Hi i have a simple question, i've been watching a few zatos to see how they all play neutral, and i've seen it's mostly resumed as trying to poke with 2S, and throwing eddy to the enemy trying to get him with leap or pierce, while having a good control of eddie gauge.
Is there anything else you can do to have a better control of the neutral game with him?

best best is knowing your safe cancels into eddie (can't be mashed out of like 5.h into 236p) and safe ranges for using those moves or for summoning
[6:31 AM]
leap is very good, especially against opponents who spend time in the air and a bit away
[6:32 AM]
22H is also an excellent space control tool for mid-range grounded opponents

How do you feel about using j.D for I-No style overhead mixups? I know it is pretty unsafe, but with support from Eddie it might be our best mix option.
GrimFlash — Today at 9:07 AM
Best mix ideally is going for fuzzy/low with -K-
[9:08 AM]
And by I-No style mix, do you mean j.D > j.66?
DekuShrub99 — Today at 9:11 AM
Yeah. Like hit a j.K and then either cancel into j.D or land and low/command throw.
[9:11 AM]
Is that what a fuzzy low mixup means?(edited)
GrimFlash — Today at 9:18 AM
@DekuShrub99 Yeah, what you just described is the fuzzy/low mix
