Reproductive Justice
Reproductive Justice
Reproductive justice and safe access to abortion, like so many other aspects of managing our healthcare, is fundamentally tied to our digital lives. With the decision of Dobbs v. Jackson to overturn the protections that Roe v. Wade offered for people seeking abortion healthcare, what was benign data before is now potentially criminal evidence. This expanded threat to digital rights is especially dangerous for BIPOC, lower-income, immigrant, LGBTQ+ people and other traditionally marginalized communities, and the healthcare providers serving these communities. On this page we have assembled data privacy guides for anyone potentially affected: those seeking abortion healthcare, clinics and health professionals, as well as those involved in the abortion access advocacy movements. This page also links to EFF's advocacy and recommendations to legislatures and companies to better protect the digital rights of people seeking and providing reproductive healthcare. Watch this short video on digital security for the abortion access movement: %3Ciframe%20src%3D%22https%3A%2F%2Farchive.org%2Fembed%2FDigital_Security_for_Abortion_Access%22%20webkitallowfullscreen%3D%22true%22%20mozallowfullscreen%3D%22true%22%20allowfullscreen%3D%22%22%20width%3D%22640%22%20height%3D%22480%22%20frameborder%3D%220%22%20allow%3D%22autoplay%22%3E%3C%2Fiframe%3E Privacy info. Reproductive Rights and the Supreme Court - National Council of Jewish Women
Reproductive Rights and the Supreme Court - National Council of Jewish Women
The decision of whether and when to have children is a personal, private matter and an individual right. Over the years, reproductive rights have been advanced and rolled back in federal courts, impacting access to safe and legal abortion; insurance coverage for basic health care; when a woman may choose to terminate a pregnancy, and beyond. For better or for worse, the judges sitting in lifetime seats on the federal bench interpret the law and decide how it should be applied. Though the public and the media tend to focus on a few high-profile cases each year heard by the US Supreme Court, every day critical decisions are also being made in federal district and circuit courts. Justice for all depends on a diverse, fair, and independent judiciary committed to core constitutional rights, including reproductive rights.

Sex Workers Struggle to Survive Covid-19 Pandemic | Human Rights Watch
Covid-19 presents a new problem for sex workers. In-person sex work is intimate by its very nature, and workers are at heightened risk of contracting the virus if they keep working. But without work, as strip clubs close and clients dwindle, sex workers struggle to survive.

Sex Workers' Rights are Human Rights
Sex Workers' Rights are Human Rights
Sex workers all over the world face a constant risk of abuse. This is not news. Nor is it news that they are an extremely marginalized group of people, frequently forced to live outside the law. But when word got out that Amnesty International had initiated a consultation to develop a policy to protect the human rights of sex workers, it was like lighting a touch paper. Journalists and celebrities climbed on the band wagon. Ever-more sensational headlines condemned Amnesty International for advocating for “prostitution as a human right”.

Women's Rights | Human Rights Watch
Despite great strides made by the international women’s rights movement over many years, women and girls around the world are still married as children or trafficked into forced labor and sex slavery. They are refused access to education and political participation, and some are trapped in conflicts where rape is perpetrated as a weapon of war. Around the world, deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth are needlessly high, and women are prevented from making deeply personal choices in their private lives. Human Rights Watch is working toward the realization of women’s empowerment and gender equality—protecting the rights and improving the lives of women and girls on the ground.
