This rambling screed first makes no sense and second is a clear reaction to the anti-SOPA online movement. I know it's an opinion piece, but the NYT could at least require them not to make near slanderous associations or claim their own facts.

Good critique of the objections to ACTA, in that they're often focused on things that aren't in the final treaty. I still have a huge problem with the bypass-the-Senate trick, no matter what's in it.

I know this is the easy way out, and I know MegaUpload was a huge piracy problem, but the fact is you have legitimate users possibly losing their only copy of important data. Yes, it's arguably their fault for not storing multiple copies, but it is to me unacceptable that the Justice Department would metaphorically bomb a neighborhood in order to take out a crack house.
