Michael Winslow - Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin (Senkveld med Thomas og Harald) - YouTube
I don't even know how that distorted electric guitar sound is possible with the human voice. It looks like part of it was microphone manipulation, but wow.
Apple - Introducing GLaDOSiri on iPhone 4S - YouTube
Apple announced Siri on iPhone 4S, which lets you use your voice to send messages, set reminders, place phone calls, and more.
However, they decided to replace it with GLaDOSiri, which is way better.
Inspired by my love of Portal, and GLaDOS' inevitable take over of every iPhone in America.

UPDATE: OK, so it's less than 24 hours after I uploaded this video, and the response has been insane. Thanks to everyone who watched and enjoyed it!
To address some of the comments/emails I've gotten:
- No, I have no idea why the views are not going beyond 304. Clearly there have been WAY more than that, but they just aren't showing up. Maybe something is wrong with YouTube. (UPDATE- A few folks told me about YouTube capping views until they see the view count is legit, so I suppose the real view count will show up later. Thanks for letting me know, guys!)
- Yes, I made the GLaDOS voice myself, using a number of programs. It's not perfect, obviously, but it's pretty damn close.
- No, this is NOT a real app. It's a parody, though I friggin hope someone makes this happen for real when the 4S comes out. Apple needs to call Valve and make this a reality.
- As for the "fat" jokes...there was no offense intended. GLaDOS has an overabundance of them in the games, so I was just staying true to her style. Didn't mean to offend anyone!
Thanks again to everyone commenting! I'm glad you're enjoying it. You're all welcome to shoot me an email at the email listed at the end of the video!
Learning to Win by Reading Manuals in a Monte-Carlo Framework
MIT research to learn how to play Civ by "reading" the manual. Their evaluation is a bit of a cheat (1v1 on a small map, military victory only), but still impressive.
This one is a bit less like the rest of this video series, in that it's just providing the visual juxtapositions. I think it's important to distinguish between the Wachowskis saying "let's shoot this scene exactly like my favorite scene in Iron Monkey" and the Wachowskis having immersed themselves in those films and making a film that synthesized all of those elements.
This is a tragic manifestation of what happens when non-scientists try to pull certainty out of uncertain scientific studies. No way should the scientists be liable. Everyone knew they lived in a high-risk area, and it wasn't the scientists named in the lawsuit who told them it was safe.
I guess it makes sense that informational transmission rate would be relatively constant, so you have a tradeoff between speed and informational density.
Some real Shock and Awe: Racially profiled and cuffed in Detroit | Stories from the Heartland
Yay profiling! Obviously her personal account would be somewhat biased, but even if you ignore the person who freaked out and reported them, there is no way the government should be able to do this to an American citizen on a tip alone.
