A response to the Westen NYT op-ed. Thus is much closer to why I like his pragmatism, but I understand why that doesn't appeal to many on the left, since they (rightly) feel no one has fought for their ideals in a while.

I think I'm being convinced that there's no reason for software patents, not even short ones.

A solid criticism from the left, but I voted for a rational compromiser. It's just frustrating to know that you can't compromise with extremists.
