I think Gregory is once again a journalist who confuses preserving access with investigation, and thus gives up his power to check those in power.

Do people at USDA and NOAA and the Peace Corps really need to be taking Treason 101 courses? Also amusing almost everyone quoted did so anonymously. I sense a poisonous environment.

What's sad is that it's not surprising. The policy has produced perverse incentives and brought out the worst kind of power trips in officers.

Some of my favorites of all time came out this year. Gattaca and Fifth Element in particular. Mostly though I was just a really impressionable freshman, so I absorbed a lot of this culture, even the bad stuff.

I feel old. Oddly I would have spread a number of these out - some of them more like late '80s, some closer to mid-'90s. I guess I'm scrambling up what I was aware of pop culture wise from age 5 to 12 or so.

Awesome commentary on what went into the creation of the original Myst. I loved the trivia that they had to lay out the CD-ROM manually so that adjacent areas in the game were adjacent on the disc to allow for faster loading.
