This article makes some good points (especially about rural flight and government aid) but doesn't quite make a general strategic point about what progressives should do, and ignores the conservative strategy that games the system in favor of rural areas where they are stronger. I think maybe it got trapped in book review.
A lot to unpack here but basically an encouragement to question everything seems to have resulted in a culture where the sources we should trust (because of their processes) are untrusted for various cultural reasons.
