President Obama’s Interview With Jeffrey Goldberg on Syria and Foreign Policy - The Atlantic
I love having a President who can be described as "Spockian". I don't know if he's making all the right decisions, but they sound a lot better than the alternatives. I also like that he emphasizes climate change and China as the big foreign policy issues of the next few decades. I hope he mentions climate change more often in public.
Fascinating in-depth explanation of the modern GOP's dysfunction at the national level. It seems to be the latent authoritarianism combined with the one-two of the Great Recession and electing a black President. That said I think it gives far too much of a pass on racism — making it sound like a lot of people are primed for fearing other (somewhat believable as small group management) and are told who to fear by mass media, as opposed to having internalized the racial power hierarchies.

Interesting case. Fan sequels are clearly not protected parody; I feel like the mistake they made here was asking for money. They have to remain labors of love to stay under the radar.
"Donald Trump is a big bully who is enabling many little bullies." There is still a big degree to which I don't understand this aspect of his appeal. I kinda get why it works but I don't know anyone who thinks like this.
