RT @TheAtlantic: "This is a story about what happened when I tried to use big data to help repair my local public schools. I failed." http:http://theatln.tc/1nTBTQz
This is so messed up, even ignoring the myriad flaws with standardized testing. We require the tests, and then fail to fund the ability to pass those tests, both in terms of the books and other material, and the staff to buy, distribute, and manage that inventory (not to mention teacher hours and pay). I think this is a structural problem tied to setting standards nationally, but funding schools locally. Either we need universal funding, or no standards. The standards themselves are also clearly a handout to the publishing industry, since they can write once, sell everywhere.
