@mattklewis 💯 Macron and Starmer understood the assignment. It was gross, but they did what they knew they had to do. It must have sucked for them. Zelenskyy made the mistake of thinking he was meeting with a competent adult, who understood the gravity of the situation.

Make no mistake: The main takeaway from this meeting is that @JDVance basically tanked the whole thing, and as we now know the deal that Trump was ready to sign w/Zelenskyy on minerals. A remarkable and unprecedented seizing of the initiative by a VP. /End

@ColinLahiff @JDVance This is an interesting take, but I think it was more a lack of interest in de-escalating Zelensky's follow-up to Vance's answer to the Polish reporter's question. Vance clearly jumped at the opportunity to make a scene, but I feel like Zelensky did unnecessarily open the door.

@John_Severini @JDVance I think that's an accurate and fair assessment. It's funny I was just watching some of Sen. Graham's follow up comments and he said he urged Zelenskyy "not to take the bait." Zelenskyy def failed to de-escalate and left he door open as you say. A real shame.

While national European leaders put out vague statements of support for Zelenskyy and Ukraine following the shocking altercation in the Oval Office today, the EU's foreign policy chief directly referenced the reason those statements of support came pouring in tonight.

When Trump is in power the US has no allies because the US doesn't act like an ally. US isn't even Russia's ally, don't confuse Trump's role as Putin's lapdog with an alliance
