@carlbildt All Nordic countries are Arctic countries. They all know Trump's claims about security issues relating to Greenland are fundamentally bogus and nothing but a smoke screen for US expansionism. The Nordics should now react firmly.

@carlbildt Are these the same lies being used for Greenland that were used in Crimea? Needing protection? Insisting citizens want it and are asking for it? Showing up unwanted or needed? Is something going to happen where the US is going to feel the need to bring more troops?

@Lucan_Mor To do this without invitation and in the present context it is rude, it is provoking and implicitly threatening, but an American VP can visit the American troops and base. >>

@carlbildt Of course, this is a provocation. The U.S. is intimidating Greenlanders, trying to influence their decisions. This behavior is a shot in the foot and burns bridges for potential cooperation between Greenland and the USA.

@RikiLovesHerAvs @carlbildt I’ve looked it up. For US citizens, no Visa is required for stays of up to 90 days for business or tourism purposes. Therefore it’s possible that they could refuse him entry if they think his visit is not for those purposes.

@GillW1220 He is coming to visit the American base and troops. The American vice president can't be refused a visit to their own troops. A VP does not travel on a tourist or business visa but a diplomatic passport. It also means that (like any diplomat) he has immunity.

@GillW1220 You wouldn't be laughing long if you'd see what diplomatic scandal that would cause and the pretext it would provide. Once everyone (US, GL, DK, EU, NATO +/- US) is in position in this escalating conflict such step might be considered but it won't be a laugh. Now it's still play.
