I studied the entire video (50 minutes) of the #Trump and #Zelensky meeting to determine when things started going off the rails. For those who don't have time to watch the entire meeting (the CSPAN YouTube link is at the end of this post), here is what happened. Zelensky

@Matt_VanDyke It’s hilarious how, throughout this post you compare US spending to Europe’s spending, as if Europe is a whole country, almost insinuating that we have a responsibility to spend more then 44 countries combined to defend those said countries We have our own states to defend.

@Matt_VanDyke Wrong. Things went off the rails the moment President Trump decided to have a "negotiation" with Zelensky with his Vice President and the media in the room with them. If Trump actually wants peace in Ukraine, why would he do that?

@Matt_VanDyke It does conflict with the ambush theory, wouldn't you agree? Don't oppose the alpha gorilla when you're a guest on his rock. Something very petty like that? It's still better than the ambush. I don't like it one bit but UA still needs the USA.

@Matt_VanDyke I watched the whole debacle. The framework Zelensky and his team went in to sign was not even a deal and I was adamant the trump regime wouldn’t sign it They lurked around from the get go and ambushed him on television as a pretext for withdrawing all assistance to Ukraine.

@Matt_VanDyke The root cause is that Trump-Putin negotiations yielded nothing. Russia won't accept foreign troops, arming Ukraine, Ukraine having military, etc.etc. see the initial invasion demands. Bringing this fact into spotlight is what triggered Trump.

@Matt_VanDyke Thanks for the good recap. I thought the moment where a reporter (Polish?) was asking about “why we align with Russia?”was pivotal. I actually thought Trump handled it well. The line “I align with Peace” could’ve been a great take away. But Vance seemed to jump on the reporter,

@TTuberville There needs to be investigations of those who met with zelensky beforehand who committed subversive acts! They derailed the negotiations by giving him the arrogance to do what he did.

@TTuberville Weakening an ally which is under attack has 0 to do with "strength". Kicking out one party of peace negotiations will not lead to peace either. Trump has demonstrated how WEAK the alliance is, and the weak part being the USA. Putin must be delighted

@Forsvarsdep The fact remains that Norwegian companies are refusing to fuel US Navy vessels. The US Navy operates in the region largely to protect NATO allies. This just gives the US another legitimate region to leave NATO since we don't share the same values & shoulder the most $$$$ burden.

@robdewijk In wat voor een sprookjes wereld leef jij? Verder ga je er vanuit dat iedereen in Europa achter Zelenski staat...tientallen miljoenen mensen willen gewoon vrede en hebben niets met Oekraïne of Rusland maar ondervinden wel de lasten van het decennialange wanbeleid van de NAVO.

@robdewijk Is het een idee dat Europa Amerikaanse wapens opkoopt waarin Europa/Oekraïne niet zelf kan voorzien? Dan krijgt de VS er meteen iets voor terug en blijft de NAVO misschien intact. Win-win, iedereen blij. Of gebeurt dat al?

@robdewijk Ik mis Turkije in dit verhaal (doet vandaag mee). Erdogan kan een belangrijke rol gaan spelen; groot leger, strategische ligging vh land en staat achter Ukraïne.

@robdewijk Krachtige zet en krachtig signaal. Geen stroop smeren en schoenen kussen. Oekraïne bleek snel een defensie industrie op te kunnen zetten. Amerika kon dat razendsnel in WOII. En in deze tijd zou Europa dat niet kunnen? Op naar de nieuw wereldorde, toch? MET plaats voor Europa!

@robdewijk Aan de kant van de VS staan zodat de Oekraïne een vrede moet accepteren, ook al zal die lelijk zijn. Elke andere variant verlengt de oorlog. Zonder steun was die drie jaar geleden al afgelopen.
