The Best Health And Fitness Apps For Android In 2022 – Android Police https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/the-best-health-and-fitness-apps-for-android-in-2022-android-police/ Staying on top of your fitness goals and establishing good habits for a healthier lifestyle isn’t always an easy task, which is why we turn to external help from apps. So we reviewed some of the best fitness and health apps available on Android that you can link to your favorite smartwatch to hit the ground running. It’s time to stop cheating and take control of your health and fitness with the help of some handy apps. Let’s dive in. Google Fit When it comes to getting a clearer picture of your overall health, counting out expended calories, utilizing GPS to map your walks/runs, and gauging your heartbeat over time, almost no app does it better than Google Fit. Not only is Google Fit the default fitness tracking option on Wear OS smartwatches, but it’s also one of the most well-rounded solutions in the Android ecosystem. The app uses a unique “move minutes” tracking system that gauges how many complete minutes you’re in motion throughout the day. It also marks down “heart points,” which account for more rigorous exercises, such as brisk walks, runs, etc. In addition to these metrics, Fit keeps a log of your steps walked, distance traveled, and calories expended. It also tracks heart rate, weight, and how much sleep you’ve acquired. Argus Developed by Azumio — the masterminds behind other popular fitness apps like Instant Heart Rate and Sleep Time. Argus lets users keep track of steps taken; distance traveled, calories burned throughout the day, weight over time, and more. Argus has a lot of flexibility for the wide range of fitness services and hardware it can sync up with, like the Garmin app, Dexcom glucose meters, Strava, and Google Fit. Strava Strava is a hybrid app that blends its fitness roots with a unique social media element, encouraging users to share their activities and progress with other Strava participants. On the fitness side, the app taps into GPS to map walks/runs, bike rides, and it can even track swims. An included Explore tab helps users find fitness events in their area, user-generated challenges, and more. Users can also set weekly and annual goals to keep them motivated over time. On the social side, users are encouraged to connect with friends, post content to their activity feeds (à la Facebook), and even compete with one another. Nike Run Club The Nike Run Club app fits in a similar vein as Strava, where you rely on the app to track your steps for your activities, but with an emphasis on walking and running. Users can tap into their devices’ GPS to map their walks/runs, download free guided runs, and partake in long-term coached exercise regimens. So if you’re looking for another app that supports your progress, and provides coaching, then Nike Run Club is the perfect app for you. Walk with Map My Walk Walk with Map My Walk app has you creating customizable training plans, receiving coaching tips, and joining challenges with a community. The app is versatile whether you exercise near your home or on a daily route. You can upgrade to the MVP premium tier if you prefer personalized coaching and more tools for your training plans. It lets you sync with various apps and wearables like Google Fit, Garmin, and Android Wear. 7 Minute Workout Sometimes, you don’t have much time in your day for an extended workout session, but why feel guilty about missing out on getting your heart rate up? The 7 Minute Workout app follows the HICT (high-intensity circuit training) philosophy to jumpstart your cardiovascular system for the day. The app supports Google Fit, and you’ll have access to 12 exercises with each in less than a minute — all you need is access to a chair and a wall, perfect for when you’re in the office or at home. Sleep as Android Developing a healthier lifestyle is appropriately maintaining your sleep for better workouts, improved mental health, and reduced risk of diseases. One of the most prominent sleep tracking apps is Sleep As Android. Not only has it garnered a large user base, but it has also even earned Google’s prestigious Editor’s choice award. The app can provide nightly stats on sleep quality, measure sleep trends over time, and it has an alarm feature that can wake users with a gentle vibration on the wrist and/or with a series of customizable sounds. After gathering enough data, Sleep As Android can also provide a sleep score to let users know how rested they are over time. My Fitness Pal You cannot ignore your eating habits if you’re trying to become fit and adopt a healthier lifestyle. Knowing how many calories you ingest in a day will help you set up your daily exercise routine and set your unhealthy snacking habits straight. One of our favorite calorie-counter apps is My Fitness Pal. My Fitness Pal logs precisely what you’re eating by consulting a food library, scanning a barcode, and letting you manually input food items you’re about to digest. You can also set up notifications for daily reminders to log your meals into the app. If logging your eating habits isn’t enough, My Fitness Pal also teaches you how to prepare healthier meals and stay connected socially to help your stay motivated. FatSecret While My Fitness Pal is the best all-in-one food tracker app, you might be looking for a simple and completely free (no premium membership needed) alternative for calorie-counting, which is what we have by using FatSecret. Like My Fitness Pal, you can still scan barcodes on products and use image recognition to record your meals; you also have access to a journal, a calendar system, and a photo album to keep a record of all the progress you’ve made. FatSecret also supports integration with Google Fit, Samsung Health, and Fitbit, so you don’t have to worry about losing your records, no matter the main health app you use! Calm An underrated aspect of maintaining a healthier life is looking after your mental health. Our lives get busy, and it is often neglected we look after our well-being. So we turn to apps that help us refocus and meditate our minds; one of our personal favorites and an Editor’s choice is the Calm app. Within the app, you can swipe through several visual “scenes” that include environmental sounds to center yourself. For added serenity, engage in guided breathing exercises, body stretches, meditation, or unlock masterclasses from mindfulness experts. The Calm app has everything you need to improve your mental health. Take control over your health and fitness Hopefully, we’ve provided a list of apps that promote healthy living and aid your fitness goals. An app like Google Fit can do wonders to help track your fitness goals and stay healthy; but it ultimately boils down to the user making plans and acting on them to ensure healthy living. So, carefully review these above apps to see if they match what you’re looking for in your routine to ensure you stick with them.

Supercilious Lamborghini Huracan EVO Is So Cool It Can Only Be Seen Around Airplanes – Autoevolution https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/supercilious-lamborghini-huracan-evo-is-so-cool-it-can-only-be-seen-around-airplanes-autoevolution/ Lamborghini has renewed its partnership with Bologna’s Guglielmo Marconi Airport in Italy, and as part of this collaboration, they have supplied a new follow-me car, which is as exotic as they come. Sporting a fresh livery that combines yellow and black, bedecked by the Italian flag, and sporting emergency lights on the roof, the exotic in question is a Lamborghini Huracan EVO, which accompanies airplanes during takeoffs and landing. It is powered by the 631-hp and 443-lb-ft (600-Nm) of torque 5.2-liter V10, does the 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in 2.9 seconds, and maxes out at 202 mph (325 kph). Besides supplying a new follow-me car to the airport, the Raging Bull has also introduced a bespoke VIP shuttle ride. This is a one-of-a-kind Lamborghini Urus, available via pre-booking at the airport’s VIP program YouFirst. The super SUV greets passengers on arrival, and on departure, taking them to and from the terminal “in utmost luxury,” the automaker says, enhancing the overall first-class experience. “We are very pleased to strengthen our partnership with Lamborghini, one of the excellences in this area that best represents what our region offers in terms of innovation, style and competitiveness,” said the Bologna Airport General Manager and CEO, Nazareno Ventola. “This renewal has also led to the implementation of a new personalized service for our most demanding customers, which will allow them to enjoy the Lamborghini experience as soon as they step off the ‘plane: something unique that can only be found at Marconi.” Also, part of the renewed partnership, which officially began back in 2013, the Sant’Agata Bolognese car firm’s exhibition space inside the passenger terminal has become a full-scale boutique. As one can imagine, some of their exotic models are on display there, and they are joined by the typical merchandise that includes an array of items, from scale models to gadgets.

SEC Halts Crypto Ponzi Operation Targeting Latino Investors Cryptonews
SEC Halts Crypto Ponzi Operation Targeting Latino Investors Cryptonews
SEC Halts Crypto Ponzi Operation Targeting Latino Investors – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/sec-halts-crypto-ponzi-operation-targeting-latino-investors-cryptonews/ Source: AdobeStock / Andriy Blokhin The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed an emergency action to stop an ongoing crypto Ponzi scheme targeting Latino investors.  According to an SEC press release, the scheme was being operated by defendants Mauricio Chavez and Giorgio Benvenuto through CryptoFX – a company Chavez founded and controlled.  Details of the case revealed in the SEC complaint allege that Chavez pioneered the scheme in 2020 when he began holding paid classes “for the ostensible purpose of educating and empowering the Latino community to build wealth through crypto asset trading.”  However, he had no background, education, or training in investments or crypto assets. The classes and seminars were only a conduit for soliciting the “unsophisticated investors” to give their money to the Texas-based CryptoFX to purportedly use in trading foreign exchange and crypto.  For his part, Benvenuto allegedly solicited a large investor into the scheme and helped divert funds from the scheme through CBT Group, a company he controls with Chavez. The scheme raised over $12 million from around 5000 investors through this means.  Chavez and Benvenuto proceeded to use more than 90% of the funds to pay fake returns to investors, support a lavish lifestyle, and purchase and develop real estate. The SEC alleges that the duo made approximately $2.7 million in Ponzi payments while diverting almost $8 million for their use, including nearly $1.5 million that Chavez spent on cars, credit card payments, jewelry, adult entertainment, and a house in his wife’s name.  SEC bearing down hard on crypto Ponzi schemes  The SEC is accusing the defendants of charges including violations of the antifraud provisions of the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act; violating the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and violating the securities registration provisions of the Securities Act. The SEC is seeking permanent injunctive relief, civil penalties, and the return of ill-gotten gains with interest, as well as barring Chavez and Benvenuto from serving as officers or directors of any public company. The press release adds that the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas has issued an order freezing the assets of the defendants and also granted other emergency relief.  The case is only the latest bust the SEC has made in its redoubled efforts to end fraud in the crypto space and provide regulations for the market. Back in August, the securities market watchdog brought charges against 11 individuals involved in operating and promoting the $300 million Forsage crypto Ponzi scheme as reported by Reuters.

Amazon Discontinues Glow Video-Calling Device For Kids The Indian Express
Amazon Discontinues Glow Video-Calling Device For Kids – The Indian Express https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/amazon-discontinues-glow-video-calling-device-for-kids-the-indian-express/ Amazon.com Inc. is discontinuing its pandemic-era kids’ video calling device amid lackluster sales and a shift in consumer behavior. Launched a year ago, the Amazon Glow emerged from the company’s Grand Challenge moonshot laboratory. It seemed the perfect pandemic-era product: a combination video screen and projector that helped children get face time, play games, read and even draw with distant relatives. But sales were slow, and Amazon is now looking to shift employees who worked on the gadget into other roles. “At Amazon we think big, experiment, and invest in new ideas to delight customers,” said Amazon spokeswoman Kristy Schmidt, who confirmed the Glow’s cancellation. “We also continually evaluate the progress and potential of our products to deliver customer value, and we regularly make adjustments based on those assessments. We will be sharing updates and guidance with Glow customers soon.” Amazon has taken a number of measures to restrain costs as sales growth stagnates, including shuttering warehouses and freezing hiring for corporate jobs in its retail business. Reviewers praised the device’s concept, but said it felt unfinished. A monthly subscription to an Amazon kid-focused service and a recommendation that the person on the other end use a tablet, not a smartphone, also may have limited its appeal. The device also hit the market as many consumers began to resume their normal habits following the release of Covid-19 vaccines. Amazon doesn’t disclose sales data for its electronics, but Glow had about 500 customer reviews on the company’s retail site, low even by the standard of Amazon’s niche or experimental products. Glow was steeply discounted on Tuesday, listed at $150 for members of Amazon’s Prime program, 55% off the list price. Later in the day, it was unavailable. Amazon’s devices group has produced such hits as the Echo smart speaker and Fire streaming sticks, but also has a history of launching devices that seem to be looking for a purpose. A voice-activated microwave oven launched in 2018 never caught on with shoppers, and Amazon’s effort to make its own smartphone, the Fire Phone launched in 2014, remains its biggest dud.

Northlake Notes October 2022 The Cross Timbers Gazette
Northlake Notes October 2022 The Cross Timbers Gazette
Northlake Notes — October 2022 – The Cross Timbers Gazette https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/northlake-notes-october-2022-the-cross-timbers-gazette/ Things are heating up in Texas this month, and no I don’t mean the weather, thank goodness! This is an election year nationally and statewide and important dates are coming up. First, the deadline to register is October 11th. Don’t wait to register at the last minute or you may miss this one out. Head over to election central at www.votedenton.gov for all the information you may need from rules, dates, locations and sample ballots. Dates, locations, times and where you need to go differ based on whether you vote in early voting or on Election Day. Make a plan and get it done. Mail-in ballots take time so get those started soon. Early voting starts Monday, October 24. The legislature is taking up critical issues this cycle so who we send to Austin will have some real opportunities to make our lives better or worse. Redistricting has changed the makeup of all our precincts so new groups of voters are making choices for our areas. Many state races are competitive so your vote can make more of a difference than you may have thought. Make sure they hear your voice! Recently, disappointment with the appraisal district in Denton County reached a peak when 2/3rd of the taxing entities denied their budget request, including the Northlake Town Council. This was a severe action intended to send a wake-up call that across the county schools and towns had lost faith in the district to perform their duties. At the time, we didn’t know just how badly Northlake was about to be disappointed in their performance. For two years, the district has delivered certified estimates (educated guesses) for our tax rolls instead of certified totals. That was poor enough performance. This year however, while they delivered a certified total, they made a significant error which changed the Northlake rolls by 20% after we completed our budget and rate setting meetings. A change of this magnitude is egregious and could have had serious consequences for funding the town. Thankfully, we are stable and financially sound and able to make adjustments that won’t impact our ability to fund required services this year. This does mean that we will have to meet in a special session and redo our tax hearings and reset our rates. This is the complete failure for the appraisal district and warrants a complete overhaul of the organization. We have expressed our displeasure at this failure and expect any new leadership stepping up to address this seriously and completely. It is fortunate that our staff were able to quickly respond and help us reset our notices and hold a meeting in time to meet our state deadlines. We will be looking for aggressive changes and following them closely over the next year to see needed changes take place. As our County Judge said about this situation when he called for change a while back, “we will not fund failure.” Northlake concurs completely. CTG Staff The Cross Timbers Gazette News Department

What To Pack For A Holiday In Thailand: The Essential Packing Guide Thaiger
What To Pack For A Holiday In Thailand: The Essential Packing Guide Thaiger
What To Pack For A Holiday In Thailand: The Essential Packing Guide – Thaiger https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/what-to-pack-for-a-holiday-in-thailand-the-essential-packing-guide-thaiger/ Getting ready for your big trip to the Land of Smiles? Travelling to Thailand is such an exciting experience, but for some people, trying to work out what you should pack and bring to the country can be a bit daunting Overpacking is a common mistake almost every traveller makes, especially when travelling to a country as diverse as Thailand. It’s understandable to stuff your bags with things that rarely get used, like extra towels, a second jacket, extra batteries, and snorkel gears. After all, Thailand is far away from home, causing your mind to run through what-if scenarios. However, you actually don’t need to pack much since most things are available locally. Unless, of course, you don’t want to spend any money on things you could easily bring from home. Whether you like to pack lightly or you prefer having everything ready in your bag, here’s our guide on what to pack to Thailand. Before Packing Your Bags Some of the most important things you’ll need for your trip to Thailand won’t actually be in your bag. Therefore, be sure to sort out the following essentials before you actually pack your bags, as they may take a bit of time. 1. Visa PHOTO: Unsplash When planning a vacation to Thailand, the first thing you need to decide is whether you’ll require a visa. For a visit under 30 days, you likely won’t need a visa since you’ll enter the country on a 30-day exemption stamp. Most nationalities can enter on the 30-day exemption stamp, but be sure to check with your local Thai embassy or consulate first. If you’re planning to stay in Thailand for more than 60 days, then you’ll need to apply for a tourist visa. You can apply for a single entry or a multiple-entry tourist visa. A multiple-entry tourist visa is valid for 60 days, while a multiple-entry tourist visa is valid for six months, with permitted stays of 60 days at a time. 2. Vaccination PHOTO: Vaccination by Katja Fuhlert from Pixabay. Taking sensible medical precautions before you travel is vital. Therefore, it’s recommended to get vaccinated for the most common diseases in Thailand. Some vaccinations are mandatory depending on your medical history and which part of the world you’re travelling from. If you’re travelling from the UK or the US, here are the vaccinations recommended by both the NHS and CDC: Hepatitis A Hepatitis B Typhoid Cholera Malaria Rabies Varicella Polio Diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis Measles-mumps-rubella Yellow fever Japanese encephalitis. The list might be long and intimidating. Plus, getting vaccinated for all of them can be pretty expensive. But don’t worry, most travellers don’t need to get all of these vaccinations. It depends on your medical history, which regions you’re visiting, the activities you’re planning to do, and how long you’re planning to stay in the country. Also, some vaccinations like measles-mumps-rubella and typhoid are scheduled early in childhood. Therefore, check your medical history to ensure you’re already protected. In general, most travellers only need vaccinations for tetanus, Hepatitis A and B, yellow fever, and rabies. Vaccination against yellow fever is a requirement for all travellers arriving from any country with a risk of transmission. It’s a good idea to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as well. 3. Travel insurance PHOTO: Unsplash No one wants anything bad to happen during their vacation. However, even the best-planned trips can be affected by the unexpected, especially during a Covid-19 pandemic. You don’t want to get stuck in Thailand with a huge medical bill you can’t pay, and you don’t want any unforeseeable events to throw a wrench in your travel plans. The only way to ensure that you’re protected against any unwanted situation is to get travel insurance. 4. Flight ticket PHOTO: Plane tickets from freepik. Having a return or onward flight booked is a legal requirement for those who enter Thailand as tourists. You may or may not be asked for this information, but it’s better to come prepared. To be safe, print a copy of your flight information and keep it in your travel wallet. 5. Hotel reservation information You’ll likely have to fill out an arrival card on the plane or on arrival at the immigration. One of the things you need to fill out on the arrival card is the name and address of the hotel you’re going to stay in. Therefore, be sure to print out your hotel reservation information and keep it in your travel wallet. Of course, you can also store the information on your phone, but be sure that you can access it without reception. 6. Passport PHOTO: Passport by jacqueline macou from Pixabay. This one is very obvious, but a lot of people forget about their passports until it’s too late. Since your passport needs to be valid for at least six months, it’s best to check ahead of time in case you need to renew it. It’s also recommended that you make a couple of copies of your passport with you since you may need to provide them to your hotel, car or bike rental, etc. It’s a requirement to have your passport with you at all times. However, it’s safer to keep your passport in your hotel’s safe. Therefore, instead of bringing your passport everywhere, it’s best to carry a coloured copy with you. It will be enough should you need to show it to a police officer. Make sure to photocopy the page of your passport with the entry stamp as well. 7. Document scans Take cellphone photos or scan your passport, driving license, insurance info, credit cards, and any other important documents and save them to your email account. These may come in handy if you lose any of your documents since you have companies of them available on your phone. You might also want to keep the numbers of your banks in case you need to cancel your cards. Should you bring a backpack or a suitcase? PHOTO: Backpack and travel guide by rawpixel.com from freepik. A lot of people prefer to use backpacks when travelling around Thailand. They would argue that backpacking is the best way to see the country. There aren’t many elevators outside of big cities, and climbing a stair with a suitcase can be a hassle. Travelling with a backpack also comes in handy if you’re planning to stay in many different areas in the country or if you want to go island hopping. It can be hard to lift suitcases on and off boats, taxis, trains, and airports. However, if you don’t plan to be constantly on the move and you’re not going to visit remote areas, travelling with a suitcase can be a great option. Most of the time, you can go from taxi to hotel, to bus, to train, without having to lift or carry your suitcase. Backpack or suitcase – it’s really up to you and what you’re planning to do in the country. Both are easy to travel with. Just be sure they’re lightweight and durable. Cash, Credit, and Debit Cards It’s a good idea to diversify your travel cash when travelling to Thailand. You should have at least two ways to access funds, whether it’s cash, credit card, or debit cards. 1. Carry-on cash PHOTO: Thai Banknote by lifeforstock from freepik. You have to provide proof of adequate finances for the duration of your stay. For instance, cash equivalent to 10,000 Baht per person. While it’s rare to be asked to prove if you have access to this money, it’s best to carry it as a minimum amount of cash. You don’t have to carry Baht, but make sure that the exchange rate of the currency you carry is equivalent to the required amount. If you want to exchange your currency, it’s better to do it inside Thailand. Cash will be needed for markets and food stalls, especially if you’re travelling to smaller towns or remote islands. 2. Credit or debit card with zero transaction fees PHOTO: Unsplash Most chain hotels, restaurants, and shops in malls take cards. You can also use your cash to withdraw money and get local currency. Therefore, you can use your credit and debit card in Thailand. The most commonly accepted cards are Visa and Mastercard. Be sure to bring a credit or debit card that will work internationally and doesn’t charge for ATM withdrawals or foreign transactions. Keep in mind that although your card has zero transaction fees, ATMs in Thailand still charge per withdrawal. Don’t forget to let your banks know the dates you’ll be in Thailand so they can make a note on your account. Clothing PHOTO: Tourists in a Thai Temple by jcomp from freepik. When packing for Thailand, you need to remember that the country is either warm or scorching hot. Avoid packing wool or polyester clothes. Instead, pack clothes with airy and breathable fabric like cotton, linen, and viscose. Some options in Thailand may include T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, loose pants, and summer dresses. In addition, you might want to pack a rain jacket, especially if you’re travelling during the wet season. Be sure that the rain jacket is light, cool, and waterproof. If you’re planning to use long-haul transportation like night buses, a light jacket will also come in handy. Besides the weather, you also need to keep in mind that Thai people are fairly conservative and modest. Bangkok tends to be a bit more flexible with how you dress, but still, it’s best to dress appropriately. When visiting temples, be sure to cover your shoulders, avoid tight-fitting clothes, and wear long pants and skirts. Don’t wear clothing with potentially offensive themes. You don’t have to pack your whole wardrobe. You can find cheap laundry services everywhere. Remember, the less you have to carry around, the easier and more comfortable your trip will be. Shoes PHOTO: Flip flops by AlkeMade from Pixabay. The most useful footwear in Thailand is a pair of flip-flop sandals or slip on shoes. You might have to take your shoes off frequently in Thailand – when entering a templ...

7 Steps To Fuel Your Body Massage Magazine
7 Steps To Fuel Your Body Massage Magazine
7 Steps To Fuel Your Body – Massage Magazine https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/7-steps-to-fuel-your-body-massage-magazine/ Food represents and provides many things: energy, nutrition, culture, celebration, enjoyment and even medicine. Technically, food breaks into five fundamental categories that we need in proper proportions to fuel our body for optimal health and wellness: macro-nutrients including carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and micro-nutrients including vitamins and minerals. Eating Habits Matter We all witness the negative consequences of poor eating habits. The U.S. is one of the unhealthiest nations in the world; with such diet-related diseases as heart disease and cancer being the number-one killers (absent a pandemic). Good eating habits are core to good nutrition, and nutrition is central to our health and wellness. The benefits of proper nutrition are powerful: heart health, lower blood pressure, reduced cancer risk, lowered cholesterol, weight management, improved sleep, diabetes avoidance, strong bones and teeth, gut health, even-better mood and improved memory. Emerging research demonstrates that good nutrition together with lifestyle choices can even counteract a genetic predisposition toward a disease state. Experts have a saying, “Genetics loads the gun, but the environment pulls the trigger.”That means if we have the genes, our environment, including eating choices, may be the only thing standing between us and developing a chronic condition. There is evidence that one can turn off a negative gene marker through positive lifestyle choices. This is truly good news, indicating we have great influence over our current and future health. Yet, the reality is too many people do not receive the nutrition their bodies require from the food they eat due to factors like limited time, family constraints, lack of convenience, familiar habits, awareness, as well as taste preferences. Have you heard the adage: “You are what you eat”? This is a half-truth. The full truth is, “We are what we digest and absorb.” Ideally, we receive the vast majority of our required macro- and micro-nutrients through the real, whole, natural and fresh food that we eat. For example, it is easier for your body to use vitamins and minerals that come from a balanced diet rather than from supplements, according to a clinical professor Emma Laing, PhD, RDN. Compounds in fruits and vegetables work synergistically to promote wellness and these cannot be replicated in a dietary supplement. The Problem with Processed Foods Refined and processed foods, meaning altered from their natural state, will never be as absorbable, digestible and healthy as Mother Nature’s offerings. Consider the relationship between the surge in diet diseases and the evolution of our food chain. Less than 50 years ago most food was locally sourced and largely fresh, while today, most food is non-local, largely processed and full of additives. Refined or processed food almost universally involves removing fiber and nutrients while inserting seasonings and additives. Why? Fiber is difficult to preserve, so it is removed to improve shelf stability. And seasonings, disproportionately sugar and salt, lead to preferred taste, driving demand. As we eat more processed and packaged foods that are higher in these additives and devoid of fiber, it often leads to long-term nutritional gaps and poor health. I believe one reason I used to consistently overeat was because my body was craving the nutrients it was not always receiving. A fundamental step for me in reversing my overeating was shifting to more of a plant-based diet. While I did not set out to drop pounds, I began to lose weight by feeding my body more of what it needed, making it easier to eat less. 7 Steps to Help You Fuel Your Body Here are seven tips leading to healthy eating habits. Pick and choose what works for you, repeat and be patient with yourself as any improvement to your proper fueling is hugely beneficial. 1. Embrace moderation. Eat a little bit of everything and not too much of anything, with just one exception … 2. Eat lots of veggies, every day! As wide a variety as possible, as many colors as possible. The longest-living populations around the world share a common dietary characteristic—they all eat a largely whole-food, plant-based diet. 3. Focus on food, not nutrients. Concentrate on eating fresh (versus preserved), whole (versus refined), natural (versus modified) foods whenever possible, and the nutrients will take care of themselves. 4. Eat what makes you happy. Remember to balance both immediate and long-term happiness. Might you want a treat for immediate taste-bud pleasure? Go ahead and occasionally indulge. Also be mindful of your body as that healthy salad will make your body happy long-term. Part of moderation is finding your best balance between happy now and happy later. 5. Embrace the bitter. Raw kale, spinach, collard greens and other leafy-green superfoods have a bitter taste, which can be acquired. (Remember, there likely are items in your current diet that were also acquired tastes you chose to nurture, like coffee, alcohol, raw oysters, sushi and blue cheese.) My express lane to acquiring a taste for bitter was through a daily veggie smoothie brimming with natural, whole-food fiber and nutrition. It’s like drinking a healthy salad for breakfast every day. Initially nasty, then tolerable and now enjoyable! Find your own way to tolerating, if not embracing, bitter. To help you get started, here is my favorite Green Smoothie recipe: Green Smoothie Recipe Cut, combine, and blend the following until smooth: • Five to six stalks of celery (remove any leaves) • Five to six inches of cucumber (English cucumber seeds are more easily digested) • Two handfuls of spinach • One avocado • One handful of collard greens (can substitute swiss chard) • One handful of kale • One handful of cilantro • Portion of or full fresh jalapeno pepper (to achieve desired flavor) • Water to achieve your desired consistency (I use 2 ¾ cups) • Personal preferences: Include all stalks for fiber benefit, use organic produce, and substitute one cup of bone broth (reducing water the same amount) 6. Make your environment work for you, not against you. Simply remove non-desired items from your environment and replace these with healthy options that make your road to better eating habits a smoother ride. 7. Engage a like-minded friend who can support you, encourage accountability, even let you vent when you feel challenged or had a setback. We all need cheerleaders to reach lasting change. Nutritious and Delicious Healthy food is nutritious—and can also be delicious! Best wishes on developing better eating habits to fuel your daily performance. Masked Singer 2022 LIVE Fortune Teller Revealed As Famous CEO As Fans Have Crazy Theories About Purple M The US Sun
Masked Singer 2022 LIVE — Fortune Teller Revealed As Famous CEO As Fans Have Crazy Theories About Purple M… – The US Sun https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/masked-singer-2022-live-fortune-teller-revealed-as-famous-ceo-as-fans-have-crazy-theories-about-purple-m-the-us-sun/ Live Blog MASK ON Updated: 4:00 ET, Oct 6 2022 THE latest episode of The Masked Singer saw a shocking unmasking and yet another clue that led fans to believe that Harp is Amber Riley. After singing The Jeffersons theme song, Fortune Teller was revealed to be businessman Daymond John in a twist that shocked host Nick Cannon, who told the Shark Tank CEO how much he loved FUBU. Fortune Teller lost the Battle Royale sing-off to the reigning queen Harp, who fans are convinced is former Glee star Amber Riley. Online fans lost their minds when actress Tori Spelling presented a clue to Harp’s identity that consisted of a box of purple mashed potatoes, with one viewer theorizing: “Amber Riley…purple mashed potatoes stand for the purple piano on Glee where they did mashups.” The Masked Singer airs on Wednesday nights at 8pm ET on FOX. Read our Masked Singer live blog for the latest news and updates… Who went home last week? Two masked singers were unmasked and eliminated last week. The Pi-Rat was eliminated and revealed to be Jeff Dunham The Panther was eliminated and revealed to be Montell Jordan. ‘Sleeper-hit’ host Season eight of The Masked Singer sees seven-time host Nick Cannon returning to emcee the series for another edition. Cannon was first offered the hosting gig in 2018 and saw immediate potential in the show’s concept. He revealed to Variety: “I thought that this idea is so crazy, it’s either going to be a huge failure or a huge hit. “Luckily for me, it was the latter. But that’s confirmation of the type of creator and entertainer that I am. I’ve always been the sleeper-hit guy.” First judge on the panel In November 2017, FOX began developing an American version of the South Korean reality show The King of Mask Singer. In 2018, Crazy Rich Asians star Ken Jeong was the first celebrity to sign on to The Masked Singer’s judging panel. Regarding the decision, Ken told Gold Derby: “When I was offered to be on it, I asked my mom. “I’m of Korean descent and my mum still gets all her Korean TV shows via satellite. “She was like ‘you’ve got to do it. It’s a huge hit. It’s gonna help your career.” The actor stated: “I’m not qualified to be on that show. I’m not a trained singer. “So I was very loose about it. I felt I was the Homer Simpson of the show. The producers enjoy the stupidity I bring to the show.” Contestants get paid to appear While there is no grand prize, the contestants are paid to appear on the show. The contestants are paid per week for the episodes they appear on, and receive a signing bonus. Each contestant has no definitive salary, but the dollar amount most likely varies. As with other similar shows, the weekly salary and signing bonus vary with the magnitude of the star performing. The Masked Singer is based on a Korean show The viral competition program is inspired by the South Korean show King of Masked Singer, which debuted in 2015. The candidates in the American series are dressed in full-body costumes, but the contestants in the South Korean version are generally dressed in masks and large clothes. According to Insider, the program was such a smash in South Korea that it has been remade in China, Vietnam, and Thailand. How The Masked Singer works, continued Following the performances, the audience and panelists use an electronic gadget to vote for their favorite performer. The show employs a weighted voting method, in which each panelist and audience member’s vote is worth 50 percent of the total score. The competitor with the lowest popularity removes their disguise to reveal their true identity. This process of elimination continues for a certain number of episodes until only three participants remain in the season finale, after which one is named the champion when they perform once more. As a prize, the Golden Mask trophy is presented to the winner. How The Masked Singer works Each season of The Masked Singer has a different cast of celebrities. In an episode, four to six competitors sing a 90-second cover song in costume for panelists and an audience. Before and after each performance, hints – or clue packages – about their identities are presented. A filmed interview with a celebrity’s electronically disguised voice narrating a video with subtle allusions to what they are renowned for is a recurring format. The judges are given the opportunity to guess each singer’s identity out loud and record remarks in note binders during screenings of the clue packages, following performances, and before each elimination. Costume designer, continued As a result, Toybina may create several variations before deciding which would be exhibited throughout a season. Participants are given numerous options to choose from based on their history and what could fit them best. Their reasons for wearing a costume vary; some have an emotional attachment to it. Others, on the other hand, prefer to be able to roam around freely throughout performances. Masked Singer costume designer identity revealed Marina Toybina created the series’ costumes. She incorporates celebrity and producer requests in addition to her own thoughts while generating early proposals. By employing diverse stitching and construction techniques, each is intended to stand out from those seen in prior seasons and other iterations of the Masked Singer series. Toybina drafts each concept with a pencil and works with an illustrator to make a digital version with a 3D look after researching fur and skin textures, historical dresses, and everything that could be related to each character. Producers go over each design and make notes on what needs to be changed. Who is Daymond John? Daymond John is a branding expert and one of the stars of ABC’s Shark Tank. It is believed that businessman and motivational speaker Daymond John has a net worth of $350million. “Daymond John has come a long way from turning a $40 budget into FUBU, a $6 billion fashion game-changer,” reads his website. “Throughout his career, Daymond has continued to be an entrepreneur in every sense of the word. “He is not only a pioneer in the fashion industry but a Shark on the 4-time Emmy Award winning Shark Tank, a New York Times best-selling author, branding guru, and highly sought-after motivational speaker.” FUBU is an American hip hop apparel company launched by John and others. FUBU stands for “For Us, By Us.” Kevin McHale convinced the Harp is co-star In a posted on his account yesterday, Glee star Kevin McHale shared a video of himself reacting to The Harp’s performance of I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston on The Masked Singer last week, and he seemed to know who was behind the mask. The video was captioned, with a sarcastic undertone: “Check out this brand new singer.” Throughout the video, he made facial expressions of feigned surprise as he sung along to the song he believed was sung by his former Glee co-star Amber Riley. Who is Ken Jeong? part three Tran Ho, Jeong’s wife, is a breast cancer survivor and a Vietnamese American family physician. Zooey and Alexa are their twin children, born in 2007. Jeong lives in Calabasas, California, with his family. Who is Ken Jeong? He starred in the ABC comedy Dr. Ken, in which he developed, wrote, and produced, and he has also acted in the films Knocked Up, Role Models, Furry Vengeance), The Duff, Ride Along 2, Crazy Rich Asians, and Tom & Jerry. How to watch The Masked Singer Viewers can watch season seven of The Masked Singer via the FOX channel. New episodes are set to premiere on Wednesdays at 8pm ET. Ken Jeong guesses Daymond John. The Queen’s reign continues THE HARP is continuing on to The Masked Singer’s semifinals. The Fortune Teller will be unmasked and eliminated tonight. How did Bob Saget die? Bob Saget passed away at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida. The police and the fire department responded to the hotel around 4pm ET after a security team member found him unresponsive during a welfare check. He was declared dead at the scene and a preliminary autopsy was performed on the morning of January 10 and said, “At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play.” The Orange County Sheriff’s Office told The Sun, “We can confirm that the cause of death was related to internal bleeding from the brain after it appeared Mr. Saget hit his head on something in his hotel room. “There was a bruise discovered on the back of his neck. No narcotics or alcohol were found in Mr. Saget’s system. “We believe he did not understand the severity of the internal damage done and fell asleep soon after.” Ken Jeong breaks into tears After Harp’s beautiful rendition of the Full House theme song, Ken Jeong cried and said how emotional he was watching Jodie Sweetin sing along. The comedian went on to say that “our friend” Bob Saget is looking down with pride on the singers. Battle Royale begins The Harp and Fortune Teller are going head to head in a song Battle Royale. Know Here Wash trading is illegal, where an asset is bought and sold simultaneously on the same platform to create false liquidity. This is often done by bots or spoofing orders. Also Read – Crypto Crash: Indian Investors Lost Nearly Rs 1,000 Crore To Fake Cryptocurrency Exchanges “It’s difficult to talk about cryptocurrency without talking about Bitcoin. Yet, there is a concern that a large part of the daily traded volume of Bitcoin is fake. This puts into question the legitimacy of exchanges and the reliability of data,” said Jonathan Merry, CEO of BanklessTimes. Another factor contributing to the fake volume is stable coins such as Tether (USDT). Tether pairs very well with Bitcoin and is often used to buy and sell Bitcoin on exchanges. “This results in much volume being generated without any actual Bitcoin changing hands,” said the report. According to the report, faking trading volume can be a way for exchanges to attract new customers. By appearing to be more popular than they actually are, exchanges can trick investors into thinking there is more activity and liquidity on their platform. Another reason people might engage in wash trading is to prop up the price of a particular asset, according to the report. By buying and selling the asset simultaneously, they can create the illusion of demand and drive up the price. This can be done for personal gain or artificially inflate an asset’s price before selling it. “Investors should be wary of exchanges that report false figures. You must do your research and only use exchanges you trust,” the report suggested. Less Is More | News, Sports, Jobs – Evening Observer https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/less-is-more-news-sports-jobs-evening-observer/ Falconer/Cassadaga Valley goalkeeper Carson Olson dives on top of the ball to prevent Randolph’s Jacob Zink, middle, from scoring in Wednesday’s CCAA East Division game. OBSERVER Photo by Christian Storms RANDOLPH — Sometimes less is more. The Falconer/Cassadaga Valley boys soccer team played the final 20 minutes of its game against Randolph a man short and then the final five minutes two men short, but that didn’t stop the Golden Cougars from adding another goal and beating the Cardinals 3-0 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division action on Wednesday. “Discipline on the defensive front,” Falconer/Cassadaga Valley head coach Nick Quattrone said was what helped the Golden Cougars preserve the shutout while down players. “We played really smart out of the back. Cleared the ball when necessary, no easy balls through the middle and just perseverance up front attacking those loose balls and they were rewarded for it.” Coming into the match, it was well known that if the Golden Cougars wanted a good chance at winning they would have to stop Randolph’s dynamic duo of Cooper Freeman and Griffin Nelson. It was obvious Falconer/Cassadaga Valley planned on marking the duo closely, but that didn’t stop Freeman and Nelson from getting their chances. “It’s no secret that Cooper and Griffin are our two leading goal scorers,” Randolph head coach David Pihlblad said. “Almost every team all year has put a guy on at least one of them, sometimes both of them. At the end of the first half we had several chances … We had one or two that right there and I think if we get one before halftime that changes the game.” Falconer/Cassadaga Valley defender Finley Pavlock (7) goes to kick the ball from Randolph’s Cooper Freeman (9) while teammate Gabe Lundmark (5) comes to support in Wednesday’s CCAA East Division contest in Randolph. OBSERVER Photo by Christian Storms Just like Randolph, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s attack has plenty of speed and skill and it allowed the Golden Cougars to strike first. In the seventh minute, Alex Reynolds used his speed to enter the box from the left wing and sent a perfectly placed strike into the bottom of the net for the 1-0 lead. The rest of the first half was fairly even, but Reynolds was the only one to find the back of the net and that was largely thanks to his goalie Carson Olson turning aside every Randolph chance. Olson made 15 saves on the night and none were bigger than when a Randolph free kick pinballed it’s way behind everyone and Olson had to chase down the ball, diving just in time to prevent the ball from crossing the line. “It was an excellent job by our goalkeeper today,” Quattrone added. “He kept us in the game. There were some really tough shots on him, but he kept us in it.” After getting some rest at halftime, the Golden Cougars decided to buy some insurance early in the second half. Just 10 minutes in, Gabe Lundmark found himself dribbling down the right wing and just before he got into the top right corner of the box he lofted a ball over the Randolph defense to Reynolds who perfectly timed his run to get his head on the ball and into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. It was already a tall order to score once on Falconer/Cassadaga Valley, but now Randolph needed two goals in order to pull level. With around 21 minutes left in the game, Randolph got its help when the Golden Cougars went down a man thanks to a player being shown a second yellow card. Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Roger Markham (1) dribbles into the box during Wednesday’s East Division game against Randolph. OBSERVER Photo by Christian Storms Unfortunately for Randolph, the player sent off the pitch was not Falconer/Cassadaga Valley defender Finley Pavlock who continued to be a living nightmare for any forward playing down his wing. Getting the ball past Pavlock proved nearly as difficult as getting it past Olson and he made sure that his presence was felt whenever the ball came to his side. “Randolph has two of the most dynamic players in the entire league and the fact that he’s able to suppress them,” Quattrone stated about Pavlock. “It’s a testament to how hard he works in practice, how fast he is and just how tenacious he is on the ball. He is just an elite player.” Despite being at a disadvantage, it was the Golden Cougars who found the back of the net again when Coleson Barber punched home a loose ball in the box after a free kick. Then, in the final five minutes, another Falconer/Cassadaga Valley player received a second yellow card to give Randolph a two-man advantage, but it was already too late to make any difference. The victory keeps alive the hopes of Falconer/Cassadaga Valley (8-5-1, 6-2-1) earning a share of the league title with Portville (10-3-1, 7-1-1), but it will require Gowanda/Pine Valley (1-13-0, 1-8-0) to pull off the upset next Wednesday. Meanwhile, Randolph’s (9-5-0, 5-4-0) league title hopes have been dashed thanks to Monday’s overtime loss to Portville and Wednesday’s loss to Falconer/Cassadaga Valley. “We had a really tough game on Monday,” Pihlblad stated. “We went to double overtime against Portville and the kids looked tired. They just looked like we didn’t have it today and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley brought it. I think that was the big difference.” Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox

How Design And Brands Can Really Impact The Metaverse Creative Review
How Design And Brands Can Really Impact The Metaverse – Creative Review https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/how-design-and-brands-can-really-impact-the-metaverse-creative-review/ Design agency DNCO discusses the role of place, design, brand, and community in the metaverse – and crucially, tries to define what it actually is For all its ubiquity as a buzzword, ‘the metaverse’ is still often used as a term that refers to something entirely in the future – a Zuckerberg-fronted, avatar-populated, dystopian space that owes more to the world of science fiction than contemporary digital culture or branding. It’s a confusing and complex entity, which is partly why design agency DNCO decided to create an exhibition for this year’s London Design Festival titled Virtually Everywhere: Place and Design in the Metaverse. As the agency’s strategist Alex Fenton and creative director Patrick Eley point out, most of us have been using metaverses for a while already, through things like Minecraft, Fortnite, and even Peloton. “It’s an experience that’s been around for a long time without real fanfare: it’s been creeping up on us for years,” says Eley. “Everyone has their own definition of it: it’s kind of a big, daunting, quite overwhelming sort of phenomenon,” adds Fenton. “Fundamentally it’s the idea that we could use the internet differently and live a different way using the new technology that makes that possible.” Indeed, the relative banality of what the metaverse might be isn’t exactly aligned with the vapourwave-esque landscapes most people associate with the term. So in order to try to unpack what we can learn from the metaverse, the LDF exhibition was split into six questions that the DNCO team felt it was crucial to get to grips with, such as ‘how sustainable is the metaverse?’ and ‘who owns it?’ All images: Virtually Everywhere: Place and Design in the Metaverse exhibition by DNCO

Improve Apartment Wi-Fi With D-Link R15 (Review) – Gadgetguy.com.au https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/improve-apartment-wi-fi-with-d-link-r15-review-gadgetguy-com-au/ The Wi-Fi router that came with your NBN subscription is probably not the best when it comes to the latest features and technologies. Do you live in an apartment and can see many Wi-Fi networks? As a result, your Wi-Fi may be the weakest link in the chain for fast and reliable internet access. Never fear, D-Link’s R15 smart router may be just the product to get your home network up to speed at a reasonable price. (Also, for handy tips and how to solve your internet issues, be sure to visit GadgetGuy’s guide on How to Improve my Internet.) D-Link EAGLE PRO AI R15 Price (RRP) $199.95 Website D-Link Australia From Leading retailers Warranty 12 months 24/7 Manual or Support pages User guide, video Country of Manufacture Taiwan About: D-Link is a global leader in designing and developing networking and connectivity products for consumers, small businesses, medium to large-sized enterprises, and service providers. The Eagle Pro AI range D-Link has a family of routers branded Eagle Pro AI. They all support Mesh technology and speeds up to 1.5Gbps as well as the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11AX) technology. Mesh technology will help extend your network, and we’ll explain more on this later. With Wi-Fi 6, this is the newest Wi-Fi standard, meaning improved performance, greater coverage, support for more devices, and better security. If you have a smartphone or PC that also supports Wi-Fi 6, you will see an improvement in how it connects to your home Wi-Fi compared to older devices. The speed and reliability of the connection will be better, as is the encryption, which means you are safeguarding your family network. Here’s a quick summary of the Eagle Pro AI range: Eagle Pro AI M15 multi-unit mesh solution Eagle Pro AI R15 stand-alone mesh router with high gain antenna Eagle Pro AI E15 wall plug wireless mesh range extender Eagle Pro AI G415 3G/4G mobile network router that you can take with you Is the D-Link R15 mesh router right for me? This router is priced well for what you get. It supports the latest technology mentioned above, giving you a period of future-proofing. If the area you want to cover is less than 230 square meters or about 15m by 15m, this product is ideal and suits high-density living-like apartments. One of its features is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) Wi-Fi optimiser that connects you to the least congested channel. If you are surrounded by many other routers/Wi-Fi networks, it will always look for the least congestion to ensure your network works well. Suppose you require coverage of a bigger area or have thick walls or other obstacles blocking the signal in your house. In that case, you can add any of the above Eagle Pro products and set it up as a mesh extender. A Mesh router allows you to essentially repeat that signal by creating a repeater station. A mesh router also keeps the same network name, meaning a seamless signal handoff between base stations. As you walk around your house, the router operates just like a mobile phone network, handing the signal from one base station to the next. For visitors, you can set up a guest network from the downloadable App to keep your devices and information on a completely separate network. You can also limit guests’ speed to keep the best performance for yourself. Access for the guest can be as simple as scanning a QR code. Eagle Pro AI – Artificial intelligence makes it work better The R15 uses 5Ghz and 2.4GHz spectrums to talk to your devices. The 5GHz is faster, but the 2.4GGz will travel further. The R15 automatically moves your devices between these Wi-Fi bands to maximise performance for all devices. It will also recognise when some applications need more bandwidth. The software ensures that the heavy bandwidth devices get what they need to work properly, like watching a 4K video feed from Netflix or video conferencing. D-Link R15 Parental Control The Parental control function allows you to block specific users, restrict internet access during certain times or filter certain websites. The D-Link app access to this feature set is one of the easiest on the market, as shown in this video. Set up Out of the box, the router comes with a power pack and an ethernet cable. To set up, simply download the EAGLE PRO AI app for Android or Apple and follow the simple onscreen instructions. This will include connecting your ethernet cable to your NBN modem and plugging it into the yellow socket. You will have the option to change the network ID name and password at one point, which is good to do from a security standpoint. You will also need to set a device password. Best to keep a record of that password just in case. Total setup took us around 5 minutes, and we did not need to know anything technical to install it. After you set up, the unit will likely do a software upgrade. These will happen automatically so you don’t have to worry about it. Software updates improve performance, and security, and sometimes add new features. Using the app The EAGLE PRO AI APP is simple to use and clearly lays out your options. A YouTube video appears when you first visit a new section to explain how that feature works, like “AI assistant”. AI assistant will allow you to take steps to optimise your network as well as provide reports with suggestions to improve your network. Another feature we liked is that you can choose to receive a message on your smartphone if the router is disconnected from the internet. With this alert you will know there is a problem before the complaints start coming in from the family. The Eagle Pro AI router is a set-and-forget unit for most people, but you can do some other cool stuff like controlling the router from your Alexa or Google smart assistant, test your internet speed and access advanced options for those who want to tinker with the settings GadgetGuy’s take At under $200, this router has the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology and is coupled with some built-in AI smarts. It’s also a solid out-of-the-box solution for apartment dwellers and small homes. The Mesh network can easily be expanded by adding an Eagle Pro AI extender for $180, almost doubling the available area coverage. The AI Wi-Fi optimiser feature helps overcome congestion caused by many competing Wi-Fi networks. By downloading the App, you can simply roll out your new network and maintain it by having simple control from the palm of your hand, including parental controls and guest networks. More router and networking stuff on GadgetGuy The D-Link Eagle Pro R15 is a great option for people who live in Wi-Fi congested areas like apartments or high density housing, and has plenty of clever features. Positives Price Simple setup AI technology to make the router perform better Latest Wi-Fi 6 technology and security Negatives Only has 3 available ethernet ports ethernet ports Antennas are ugly but do give good coverage

How Crypto Twitter Could Change Under Musks Leadership Cointelegraph
How Crypto Twitter Could Change Under Musk’s Leadership – Cointelegraph https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/how-crypto-twitter-could-change-under-musks-leadership-cointelegraph/ Barring another change of heart and certain conditions to be met, Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter looks set to go ahead, prompting the question of whether some or all of the changes he initially hinted for the platform will become a reality.  The platform is a popular communication and news tool for crypto enthusiasts, users and investors, not to mention crypto scammers, with the social media platform seeing roughly 120,000 tweets per day about #Bitcoin alone, according to BitInfoCharts. Looking back at Musk’s initial commentary when he proposed a buyout of Twitter could shed some light on what changes he envisions for the platform. This includes a focus on free speech, eliminating spam bots, fake accounts, an edit function and possibly even crypto payments have all been considered and could still be on the agenda if the deal goes through. Spam bots and fake accounts One potential area of focus is around Twitter’s alleged spam bots. During a TED talk in Vancouver in April, Musk said that if his offer to buy Twitter were successful, a “top priority” would be the elimination of spam and scam bots from the platform, noting at the time: “A top priority I would have is eliminating the spam and scam bots and the bot armies that are on Twitter.” “They make the product much worse. If I had a Dogecoin for every crypto scam I saw, we’d have 100 billion Dogecoin,” he said. He has proposed to topple them by “authenticating all humans,” and even made the statement “we will defeat the spam bots or die trying!” Issues relating to spam bots later became one of the key arguments Musk used to try and walk away from the deal. Free speech, and return of Trump? Musk initially addressed his stance on free speech in a tweet back in April, stating at the time, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means.” In the months since, he has not publically changed his stance and elaborated on what that could mean for the platform, including a return of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who was permanently banned from Twitter following the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot. Stating in a May 13 tweet that while he thinks Trump should probably not run for president again because he is “divisive”, Musk does think he should be “restored to Twitter.” Algorithm made public Musk has also thought about making Twitter’s algorithm accessible to the public, even creating a poll that ultimately saw over one million votes and had 82% of respondents saying “Yes” to the proposal. It’s not entirely clear what Musk has in mind but it could mean allowing the software to be open for public inspection and allow users to read the code, use it for their applications and make suggestions for changes to how it works. Other ideas Other ideas have either fizzled out, or have already been implemented, such as plans to use blockchain technology and charging 0.1 Dogecoin (DOGE) per tweet or retweet, which Musk later said would not be feasible. Related: Musk’s deal for Twitter looks set to go with original $44B price tag Musk also had the idea of adding an edit button and long form tweets, however, Twitter may have beaten him to the punch with the edit button after the platform revealed that option recently. test went well, Edit Tweet is now rolling out to Twitter Blue members in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand! North Korea Denounces U.S. In Statement After Firing More Missiles The Washington Post
North Korea Denounces U.S. In Statement After Firing More Missiles The Washington Post
North Korea Denounces U.S. In Statement After Firing More Missiles – The Washington Post https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/north-korea-denounces-u-s-in-statement-after-firing-more-missiles-the-washington-post/ TOKYO — North Korea on Thursday condemned military drills by the United States and its allies in the region as a “serious threat to the stability” of the Korean Peninsula, suggesting its latest missile launches were in response to the exercises. Speaking for the first time since the country began its most recent round of weapons tests late last month, the North Korean Foreign Ministry denounced the United States for “unwarrantedly” referring Pyongyang’s ballistic missile launches to the United Nations Security Council. It defended its actions as “just counteraction measures” against the exercises. The United States, South Korea and Japan since August have been conducting military maneuvers to demonstrate their readiness to work together in the event of a conflict with the North. While the allies say the drills are defensive in nature, Kim Jong Un’s regime has long viewed them as hostile acts and used them to justify its weapons development and nuclear program. “North Korea’s consistent and persistent claims that its missile launches are in response to joint U.S.-R.O.K. drills is part of North Korea’s long running strategy of establishing equivalence between their illicit provocations and U.S.-R.O.K. joint military exercises,” said Go Myong-hyun, a senior fellow at the Asan Institute of Policy Studies in Seoul, using an abbreviation for South Korea’s official name, the Republic of Korea. Go added that the North Korean Foreign Ministry’s statement Thursday “echoes precisely the talking points intended to inculcate the perception that the drills and provocations are equivalent, when in fact they are not.” Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said North Korea’s missile launches “absolutely cannot be tolerated.” “This is the sixth time in the short period, just counting the ones from the end of September,” Kishida said Thursday. China’s Ambassador to the U.N., Geng Shuang, told the Security Council on Wednesday evening local time that North Korea’s tests “did not exist in isolation” but were rather a response to U.S. military activity in the region. The U.N. response should not merely be about pressuring Pyongyang, Geng said, adding that U.S. deployment of military assets was to blame for “creating tension” and the idea that North Korea’s launches were because of Security Council inaction was “totally incorrect.” There has been a flurry of activity this week between the allies’ drills and North Korean ballistic missile tests, which violate U.N. Security Council resolutions. The reciprocal actions point to rising tensions as the United States, South Korea and Japan work more closely together to guard against North Korea’s nuclear and weapons development. With a new South Korean conservative president who is taking a harder line toward the North, U.S. and South Korean militaries resumed drills this summer for the first time in five years. North Korea’s recent rounds of tests began on Sept. 24 as the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan arrived in South Korea to participate in the exercises. On Tuesday, as drills involving the American carrier wrapped up, North Korea test-fired an intermediate-range missile over Japan for the first time since 2017. In response, the United States, South Korea and Japan conducted air, sea and land drills, including rare missile exercises by the U.S. and South Korean militaries and deploying the Reagan back out to the waters east of North Korea. On Thursday, North Korea test-fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea off its east coast. In its statement, North Korea said it is watching U.S. actions in the region, specifically the repositioning of the aircraft carrier. Julia Mio Inuma in Tokyo and Christian Shepherd in Taipei, Taiwan, contributed to this report.

Puny Critter Shows Humble Beginnings Of Magnificent Flying Reptiles – The Indian Express https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/puny-critter-shows-humble-beginnings-of-magnificent-flying-reptiles-the-indian-express/ Pterosaurs, the flying reptiles that thrived during the age of dinosaurs, achieved great size – some with wingspans like a fighter jet – and displayed striking anatomy including exotic head crests and a hugely elongated finger to support their wings. While the ancestry and early evolution of these creatures have long puzzled scientists, a fresh examination of remains found in Scotland of a small reptile that lived about 230 million years ago during the Triassic Period is helping shed light on the humble origins of pterosaurs, researchers said on Wednesday. They found that the reptile, called Scleromochlus taylori, is a close cousin of pterosaurs. It is a member of a group called lagerpetids, considered the nearest relatives of pterosaurs. Though not a direct ancestor, the researchers said Scleromochlus may look very much like the reptiles from which pterosaurs evolved. Scleromochlus, which measured about 8 inches (20 cm) long and likely ate insects and other small invertebrates, featured a relatively large head, long and slender limbs, short torso and long tail, probably walking on two legs and standing on its toes. It did not have a lizard-like or frog-like sprawling posture as previously hypothesized. “It would comfortably fit in a hand,” said Davide Foffa, a postdoctoral researcher in paleontology at Virginia Tech and the University of Birmingham who worked on the research while at the National Museums Scotland in Edinburgh and is lead author of the study published in the journal Nature. “Scleromochlus provides unique information about the ancestors of pterosaurs, showing that they likely derived from small-bodied land-dwelling runners.” Scleromochlus lived at about the same time as the earliest dinosaurs, predating pterosaurs by perhaps 10 million years. The researchers used sophisticated scanning technology to peer inside sandstone containing the Scleromochlus fossils, clearly revealing its anatomy for the first time. Fossils of seven Scleromochlus individuals were unearthed near the town of Elgin on Scotland’s northeastern coast and first described in 1907, but technology at the time did not permit a detailed understanding of the animal. “Scleromochlus may not be a large fierce predator, but it reminds us of a very interesting story. It shows that very iconic animals such as pterosaurs – but this applies to dinosaurs and many other groups – likely began from unassuming-looking ancestors,” Foffa said. Pterosaurs became Earth’s first flying vertebrates, with birds appearing about 150 millions years ago and bats about 50 million years ago. The first pterosaurs were small – about crow-sized – but later ones had wingspans up to 35 feet (10.7 meters). “They are really peculiar animals, with such a bizarre type of body that it’s hard to figure out what their closest relatives and ancestors are,” said University of Edinburgh paleontologist and study co-author Steve Brusatte. “Imagine a fuzzy creature that looks like a hang glider, with huge wings of skin attached to a long skinny finger like a giant sail, with a crocodile’s snout and tiny feet with toothpick toes and a long stiff tail, and that’s a pterosaur,” Brusatte added. Unlike birds, pterosaurs did not use feathers for flight, though their bodies were covered in fuzzy little feathers. Their wings were formed by a tough membrane extending from an elongated fourth finger to the ankle. Fossils of lagerpetids are known from Africa, North America and South America, with Scleromochlus the only one found in Europe. “Scleromochlus still looks quite different from pterosaurs. It’s kind of like a monkey compared to a human,” Brusatte said. “Clearly it’s a primitive cousin, as it shares features of its delicate bones, especially its small pelvis and the in-turned thigh bone that connects to it. But Scleromochlus did not yet have a wing. It was not yet a flier. Evolution still had a lot of work to do.”

New Connectivity Strategy Delivers Better Digital Services Across NSW – Tech Business News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/new-connectivity-strategy-delivers-better-digital-services-across-nsw-tech-business-news/ The NSW Government is delivering on its commitment to improve digital connectivity with the launch of the NSW Connectivity Strategy. NSW Telco Authority Managing Director Kylie De Courteney said the NSW Connectivity Strategy would ensure there was a coordinated and collaborative, whole-of-government approach to digital connectivity initiatives and ensure people, businesses and emergency services stay better connected across NSW. “As a modern and customer-centric government, it is vital we commit to digital inclusion and ensure the programs we deliver improve outcomes for customers, create a strong economy and build safer communities,” Ms De Courteney said. “From addressing the digital divide between metropolitan centres and regional NSW to building smart city infrastructure in Sydney’s Western Parkland City, the NSW Connectivity Strategy will enable world-class, affordable and resilient connectivity.” The NSW Connectivity Strategy focuses on delivering outcomes for three core customer groups:  Emergency Services Organisations that need mission critical communications to provide public safety services.  Government agencies that need connectivity to deliver services to their customers as well as for operational use.  Citizens and businesses across NSW who rely on connectivity to effectively use digital government services as well as broader social and commercial purposes. Developed by NSW Telco Authority, the Connectivity Strategy is an overarching plan that brings together whole-of-government connectivity initiatives under the common goal of creating improved digital outcomes for customers. NSW Telco Authority Managing Director Kylie De Courteney said the strategy would support the roll-out of connectivity programs by government agencies including programs like Regional Digital Connectivity. “The Regional Digital Connectivity program ensures families and businesses across regional NSW have better access to mobile, internet and digital services,” Ms De Courteney said. “The program includes the Gig State project which is working to improve internet connectivity, service, speed and quality for the most underserved rural and regional communities in the State.” “Digital connectivity creates more benefits the more people are connected. By uplifting connectivity to a regional town for instance, it can attract new businesses, accelerate the adoption of government digital services and propel higher standards of living.” said Ms De Courteney.
