Your Healthy Family: Teller County Man On Living With Debilitating Back Pain – KOAA News 5 https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/your-healthy-family-teller-county-man-on-living-with-debilitating-back-pain-koaa-news-5/ TELLER COUNTY — I recently met a Teller County resident who tells me that these days, he doesn’t take the simple things in life for granted. Things like walking to the kitchen in the morning to get a cup of coffee, because for many years for Mike Kern, even a simple task like that was a monumental feat. Mike says, “I’ve always been active, and when you can’t be active and you’re used to being active, it doesn’t do your psyche any good.” Mike also says there’s no mystery as to where his back pain and other joint problems started. “It probably was from abuse. I played college football at Weber State (in Utah), and I used to heavyweight train and powerlift. There’s also some genetics involved; my dad had bad joints and a bad spine, so I also inherited it.” In 2018, with his son stationed at Fort Carson, Mike and his wife moved to southern Colorado. He says that at the time, many of the simple tasks in life were a struggle. “When we moved, my spine was really a mess. I was the kind of guy you would see in the grocery store leaning over a shopping cart. I couldn’t straighten up. I often just stayed home and did nothing because of the pain. I would have to shuffle to the kitchen you know, just like ice skating with little short steps and half bent over and trying to simply get a cup of coffee. Then I would just go sit somewhere and do nothing. I lost my incentive to do anything, because it was so miserable. I wasn’t a pleasant person, and I was a little grouchy.” Mike was used to having pain issues pop up in his joints and spine, and always sought treatment to get better, whatever it took. “I’ve had many surgeries, probably 19 or 20, and the majority of them have been related to my joints or spine.” But in 2018, his back pain had gotten so bad that Mike tells me he got to the point that simply existing was in question. “I believe if I hadn’t met him, I wouldn’t be here. I was in so much pain,” he said, referring to orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Sergiu Botolin with UCHealth, who specializes in complex spine cases. “It was just a blessing.” “My primary physician recommended I see Dr. Botolin in 2018. At that point, I was kind of useless. I was really a mess anatomically and I was in a lot of pain, and I had been that way for several years.” Dr. Botolin tells me he clearly remembers his first consultation with Mike. “Mike Kern presented to us in 2018 with several major problems. He had a history of several spinal surgeries and now with an inability to walk any significant distances, or to stand upright.” So was there anything Dr. Botolin could do for Mike’s back to lessen the pain and give him back his quality of life? We’ll talk about the surgery he proposed in our next story. UCHealth is a proud sponsor of Your Healthy Family Copyright 2022 Scripps Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Aaron Judge Chasing Home Run Record: Yankees Slugger Fails To Hit HR No. 62 In Win Over Rangers – CBS Sports https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/aaron-judge-chasing-home-run-record-yankees-slugger-fails-to-hit-hr-no-62-in-win-over-rangers-cbs-sports/ New York Yankees slugger and AL MVP favorite Aaron Judge remains stuck on 61 home runs with two games to play. Judge went 1 for 5 in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Texas Rangers (NYY 5, TEX 4) and is 3 for 17 with five walks (one intentional) and seven strikeouts since hitting his 61st home run last Wednesday. Judge showed some frustration after popping up a hanging slider in the fifth inning. He has gotten several good pitches to hit in recent days without a home run to show for it. Prior to Tuesday afternoon’s game Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated Judge would play Game 2 of the doubleheader if he did not hit his 62nd home run in Game 1. The Yankees have already clinched the AL East title and a Wild Card Series bye, and have been resting their regular players in recent days. Judge, however, has started 55 straight games. Judge’s 61 home runs are of course tied with Roger Maris for the most in a single season in American League history. Maris slugging 61 homers 61 years ago with the 1961 Yankees. Here is the AL’s single-season home run leaderboard: Aaron Judge, 2022 Yankees: 61 and counting Roger Maris, 1961 Yankees: 61 Babe Ruth, 1927 Yankees: 60 Babe Ruth, 1921 Yankees: 59 Hank Greenberg, 1938 Tigers: 58 Jimmie Foxx, 1932 Athletics: 58 Judge became the sixth player in history with a 60-homer season on Sept. 20 and he tied Maris with his 61st homer on Sept. 28. Only Barry Bonds (73 in 2001), Mark McGwire (70 in 1998 and 65 in 1999) and Sammy Sosa (66 in 1998, 64 in 2001 and 63 in 1999) have hit more home runs in a season than Judge, and they all played in the National League. If Judge does play Game 2 of Tuesday’s doubleheader, he will face lefty Kolby Allard, who has spent most of the season in Triple-A. Judge is 1 for 3 with a home run against Allard in his career. Dogecoin Price Predictions Now Bullish As Elon Musk Twitter Takeover Back On? – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/dogecoin-price-predictions-now-bullish-as-elon-musk-twitter-takeover-back-on-cryptonews/ The Dogecoin price is up almost 9% today as Elon Musk’s Twitter acquisition is back on the table. Will Dogecoin recover to its 2021 highs though? Latest Elon Musk SEC Filing A letter sent to Twitter’s lawyers from ‘the Musk parties’ on the sec.gov website states: Gentlemen: On behalf of X Holdings I, Inc., X Holdings II, Inc. and Elon R. Musk (the “Musk Parties”), we write to notify you that the Musk Parties intend to proceed to closing of the transaction contemplated by the April 25, 2022 Merger Agreement. Twitter shares have also pumped on the news, more so than DOGE – could cryptocurrency be lagging behind stocks, and the DOGE price be set to rise higher? The Twitter share price closed the Tuesday session up 22%, at $52.05. Elon Musk is set to buy Twitter at $54.20 per share, for $44 billion. Twitter Investor Relations (@TwitterIR) has today confirmed the deal: Dogecoin Price Prediction Dogecoin now is trading at around $0.065, having hit an intraday high of just over $0.066 at press time. Dogecoin is still down approximately 92% from its all time high of $0.74 hit shortly before Elon Musk appeared on Saturday Night Live to discuss the popular meme coin, in May 2021. Despite that 18 month bear market, Dogecoin still commands a $8.7 billion market capitalization, the largest meme token in the crypto market. Its closest competitor Shiba Inu has a market cap of $6.3 billion, and new meme coin Tamadoge recently rose 1,870% from its token presale to hit an over $150 million market cap, overtaking Baby Doge Coin and Dogelon Mars. With its high market cap, and being an inflationary asset, Dogecoin may struggle to recover. Every Elon Musk tweet or news that previously caused a Dogecoin price pump – such as Tesla accepting DOGE for merchandise purchases, and later SpaceX – has fully retraced. Conservative investors may wish to wait to see if this latest Dogecoin price rally can really spark a new uptrend. Fom a technical analysis standpoint, that would mean higher lows and higher highs being printed on a high-timeframe (HTF) chart. On the weekly chart, if the DOGE price can start closing candles above $0.089, the market structure would then flip bullish. Notably one of the best crypto traders on Twitter, TraderSZ, opened a long position targetting that level last week when the Dogecoin price was $0.06. Is Dogecoin a Good Investment? From a macro standpoint, little indicates a long term price reversal yet even with the weekly candle up 11.6%. TraderSZ tends to take short term trades within a sideways range. Every short term Dogecoin pump has been an opportunity for high R:R short in 2022 – even down 92%, DOGE has little utility and an infinite supply so has room to keep declining. Another noted trader Altcoin Sherpa is now considering a Dogecoin short from the current levels, since this latest Elon Musk related move. As Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev tweeted earlier this year, Dogecoin fails to compete with a standard debit card transaction as a means of exchange and payment. One speculation among Dogecoin holders is that once Elon Musk owns Twitter, DOGE could become the social media platform’s ‘native currency’ – however the billionaire is yet to lay out any roadmap for that. Read our full Dogecoin price prediction post for a closer look at the Dogecoin price history, more TA and fundamental analysis, and some possible bullish forecasts. Also see our recent Tamadoge price prediction, a potential ‘Dogecoin killer’ which is deflationary with a low fixed supply and strong growth potential, highlighted yesterday in Cointelegraph. We first reviewed TAMA in our crypto presales section, and since its 18x price rise we have also added additional token presale reviews, including IMPT token.

Credit…Azael Rodriguez/Getty Images Oct. 4, 2022Updated 6:07 p.m. ET LONDON — The captain of the world champion United States women’s national soccer team said Tuesday that any owner or executive implicated in a damning report on abuse in women’s soccer “should be gone” from the sport. That group of people, the captain, Becky Sauerbrunn, made clear, includes the owner and several top executives of her own club team, the Portland Thorns. “You have failed in your stewardship,” Sauerbrunn said of soccer leaders and executives whose behavior was detailed in a scathing report, released Monday, that revealed years of abuse in American women’s soccer. “And it’s my opinion that every owner and executive and U.S. Soccer official who has repeatedly failed the players, and failed to protect the players, who have hidden behind legalities, and who have not participated fully in these investigations, should be gone.” As she was speaking, the Thorns’ owner, Merritt Paulson, released a statement in which he said he was “removing myself effective today” from the team’s decision-making. But Paulson gave no indication that he planned to sell the team in Portland, Ore., a stance that, for the moment, put him directly at odds with Sauerbrunn, one of his club’s most decorated and popular players. Asked to clarify if her remarks included Paulson, Sauerbrunn, citing specific accusations against the owner and the Thorns but not speaking his name, left little doubt that Paulson was among the targets of her comments. “It includes everyone that has continued to fail the players time and time again,” she said of those who should be ostracized from soccer. Paulson and at least two team executives were accused in a report compiled by the former Justice Department official Sally Q. Yates of hiding their knowledge of abuse by a former Thorns coach; of dismissing the claims of a player who raised such concerns; and of staying silent while the coach moved from team to team in the National Women’s Soccer League. Image Merritt Paulson, the owner of the Portland Thorns, said he would step aside from his duties while the National Women’s Soccer League and its players’ union investigate widespread claims of abuse.Credit…Troy Wayrynen/USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Sauerbrunn and her teammate Alana Cook, who spoke on the same call on Tuesday evening, were unsparing in their view that strong action, including the forced sale of teams and the firing of officials known to have hidden or abetted the abuse of women, was overdue. “I think it’s time,” Sauerbrunn said, “for those that are in authority and leadership positions to start holding each other accountable, and asking for the change that needs to happen.” Cook, like Sauerbrunn, said that with players having come forward to reveal and document years of abuse, the responsibility to remove problematic coaches, executives and owners lay with the sport’s leadership. “For so long it’s been on the players to speak out,” Cook said. “It shouldn’t be on us anymore.” Sauerbrunn and Cook spoke in London, where the United States will play the European champion England in an exhibition game Friday night. Both players, and their coach, Vlatko Andonovski, said the team was reeling from the revelations in the Yates report, and struggling to focus on Friday’s game. “The players are not doing well,” Sauerbrunn said. “We are horrified and heartbroken and frustrated and exhausted and really, really angry.” Andonovski said that he and his staff were respecting that each player was processing the report differently, and that all have been given room to do that. Allowances have been made, he said, for players to skip meetings, training sessions and even Friday’s game. Paulson’s statement was his first public comment since the release of the report. He said in the statement that two other top Thorns executives whose personal and professional behavior was criticized in the report, the general manager Gavin Wilkinson and the team’s president of business Mike Golub, would also step aside while a separate investigation is conducted by the N.W.S.L. and its players’ union. But Paulson gave no indication that he planned to sell the team, and Sauerbrunn and Cook along with other players quickly signaled that stopping short of a complete exit would be inadequate. “I think that a lot of trust has been broken,” Sauerbrunn said. She added, “At the end of the day, if people continue to fail the players, and they don’t comply with anything that gets asked of them in these reports and gets implemented in these reports, they need to be gone gone.”

25 Travel Essentials You Should Always Pack—No Matter What – Esquire https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/25-travel-essentials-you-should-always-pack-no-matter-what-esquire/ Courtesy I’m the person that wears shorts up until it’s entirely unacceptable. So, when it’s deep in October and people are decked out in sherpa fleeces, I’m getting judging glares (and pity looks) for my exposed knee caps. I know there’s only one thing that can be done: Put on some sweats, curl up on my couch, and research vacations. Stat. Not just beach vacations, literally anywhere I can go that I can be anonymously myself. Tropical beaches, winter lodges, casinos—something to take me and Sneakers (my trusty Golden Retriever) away for a week. Thus commences the ultimate task of vacation packing, where I realize that my suitcase must consist of more than just shorts and dog toys. Amazon Sues Washington’s Labor Agency Over Alleged Hazards – 69News WFMZ-TV https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/amazon-sues-washingtons-labor-agency-over-alleged-hazards-69news-wfmz-tv/ NEW YORK (AP) — Amazon has sued Washington state’s labor agency following disputes with regulators over citations and fines imposed on the company for worker safety issues. In the lawsuit, filed Monday in federal court for the Western District of Washington, Amazon asked a judge to prohibit orders from the Washington Department of Labor & Industries to remedy any types of workplace hazards during the company’s pending appeal over the citations. Amazon argued in the lawsuit the agency has not proven any of its allegations, and requiring companies like it to remedy alleged hazards before that happens violates the due process protections under the 14th Amendment. Matt Ross, a spokesperson for the agency, said the department is aware of the lawsuit and will review it along with the state’s attorney general’s office. The agency had said in March it inspected an Amazon warehouse in Kent, Washington, and found workplace processes that “create a serious hazard for work-related back, shoulder, wrist, and knee injuries.” It said workers were expected to perform tasks, such as lifting and carrying items, at a fast pace that heightened the risk of injury. Amazon’s warehouse injury rate has been higher compared to other warehouses, which CEO Andy Jassy acknowledged earlier this year and said the company was attempting to improve. Labor and safety advocates have long criticized the company’s fast-paced warehouses, arguing it was the source of much of the injuries. And lawmakers in California and New York have passed laws aiming to curtail the use of productivity metrics at such facilities. Washington’s labor agency has said Amazon was aware of the hazards at the Kent facility because regulators had previously found similar violations at three other company warehouses. Regulators fined the company a $7,000 penalty for each of the other facilities, which Amazon appealed. The agency bumped up the fine to $60,000 for the Kent facility, saying in a statement in March that Amazon was “knowingly putting workers at risk.” The company said it disagrees with the allegations and looks forward to “showing the facts as the legal process plays out.” “In this particular filing, we’re challenging an unusual state requirement that says we need to change our operations prior to a full and fair hearing on the merits, which we don’t believe is the right approach,” Amazon said. In March, the agency also said it proposed changes Amazon could implement to reduce injuries, such as using height-adjustable platforms to reduce awkward lifting. The company said in the lawsuit the cost of implementing all the proposed changes will be costly, and “tremendously disruptive” to its operations. Amazon has appealed the citations, and a hearing on the case is expected to conclude early next year. Copyright 2022 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Power Oil Commemorates World Heart Day Encouraging Over 15,000 Pedestrians Healthy Living – Vanguard https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/power-oil-commemorates-world-heart-day-encouraging-over-15000-pedestrians-healthy-living-vanguard/ In commemoration of the 2022 World Heart Day, Power Oil, Nigerian No.1 Choice of Healthy Cooking Oil has engaged over 15,000 people directly across 3 locations within Lagos State, stressing the need to use Pedestrian Bridge rather than crossing the express road. It noted that this is important for their safety and to promote their heart health. The World Heart Day is observed and celebrated annually on September 29, with the aim of increasing awareness of cardiovascular diseases and how to control them.  At the visited locations, Power Oil teams were present at the tail of the pedestrian bridges discouraging passers-by against the option of crossing the express road and enlightened them to use the overhead bridge as a safer and healthier alternative.  After a successful completion of the trip to the other end, another brand team members were waiting to receive them with cheers and reward of product sachet for a good job. Interested pedestrians were further encouraged to burn more calories by engaging in more rigorous work out to win more exciting gift items such as food flask, water bottle, branded jotters and sample products.  There was a workout breakdown chat detailing different activities and the number of calories it consumes. According to Ms. Valerie Amakulor, Brand Manager, Power Oil “The rationale behind this campaign is to educate Nigerian Population on the importance of a healthy lifestyle through routines in our daily lives. The need to create awareness about maintaining a healthy heart can never be over emphasized as cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the most common cause of death globally. An estimated number of over 17 million people die from CVD every year. Coronary heart disease or strokes were the major causes of these deaths. While reviewing this estimation, it was realized that awareness effort needed to go further in Nigeria, especially at different touch points unimaginable, which gave rise to this concept of pedestrian-bridge engagement exercise.  An Estimation of 20 people die in Lagos state from crossing the road monthly in Nigeria, even when the bridges are available for use they still opted for the risky option. Power Oil rose to the occasion by not only cheering pedestrians to use the bridge for safety purpose, but to also educate them about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, at this point, a sample the brand is offered.  However, to further drive healthy choices, pedestrians were engaged to partake in minor workouts to get more rewards. “It was delightful to see the number of people being engaged today at all three locations, this further demonstrates that a little push might only be required to achieve the right amount of behavioral adjustments towards a healthy lifestyle”, Amakulor said. Government Wants To Go Solo In Florida Sports Betting Appeal Gaming Today
Government Wants To Go Solo In Florida Sports Betting Appeal – Gaming Today https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/government-wants-to-go-solo-in-florida-sports-betting-appeal-gaming-today/ The Department of the Interior’s appeal of a 2021 gaming compact between the state of Florida and the Seminole Tribe continued with a planned paperwork procedure on Monday. The government wants to do it itself. In an answering brief filed with the US District Court of Appeals, DC Circuit, government lawyers essentially told the Seminole Tribe’s legal team and court, “we got this,” asserting that it alone could handle the slow-moving process. Government lawyers put forth that the Seminole Tribe, although it has attempted to become an intervening party and filed an amicus brief supporting the DOI appeal, is not an “indispensable party” in the litigation. The Seminoles offered legal sports betting in Florida last November through their Hard Rock Digital app, but a lawsuit brought by a group of pari-mutuels led to the shutdown. Feds Seek to Go it Alone in District Appeals Court In its answering brief, the government used two routes to cleave the Seminoles from the appeal process. First, lawyers cited the Administrative Procedure Act, which asserts that the government is generally the only indispensable party in such cases. Secondly, it invoked Rule 19a of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, claiming that the appeals process can “accord complete relief” in the mutual interests of the Seminole Tribe and government without tribal legal teams involved. Said government lawyers’ brief: “While the federal government and the Tribe both seek reversal, the Tribe’s preferred path is in tension with circuit precedent and, if adopted, could functionally nullify the APA’s waiver of federal sovereign immunity in the wide swath of cases where federal agency action benefits a tribe or state that cannot be joined to litigation without consent. Thus, while this Court should reverse for the reasons stated in the government’s appeal, the district court’s denial of the Tribe’s motion should not be disturbed.” The filing of further paperwork is scheduled through November, meaning any decision could carry well into 2023. Legal and gambling observers inside and out of one of the top remaining parcels of sports betting real estate in the United States are beginning to agree that sports betting in Florida is unlikely before 2025. The Department of the Interior allowed the compact to pass into law by letting a 45-day assessment period lapse. DOI eventually issued a set of opinions on the compact, looking unfavorably on the marketing agreements the Seminoles were required to offer the state’s pari-mutuel outlets, but saying that Native American gambling operations shouldn’t be constrained by an Indian Gaming Regulatory Act that pre-dated the opportunities provided by mobile and Internet technology. The case has become a national curiosity because of its potential to influence the future of tribal gaming. Government Filing Another Step in Lengthy Process Unless the Appeals Court reverses course on a compact Judge Dabney L Friedrich invalidated as a “legal fiction,” the state and Gov. Ron DeSantis would be sent back to the proverbial drawing board. The Seminole Tribe would seemingly be inspired by recouping the right to offer craps and roulette — which were also a part of the 2021 compact — and retail sports betting. The state would seemingly be motivated by the $2.5 billion in revenue share payments through the first five years of the deal that the invalidation has cost Florida. Legalizing sports betting off tribal lands, and most importantly via mobile, would become an issue for state legislators again and certainly cue a massive lobbying and advertising effort from sportsbook operators hoping to launch in a state of nearly 22 million. The disparate makeup of the Florida electorate and marshaled anti-gambling groups and laws — and DeSantis’ expected run for the Republican nomination for president — would not suggest a fleet or friction-free process.

Overwatch 2 Review The Next Generation Of Competitive Gaming Gaming Trend
Overwatch 2 Review The Next Generation Of Competitive Gaming Gaming Trend
Overwatch 2 Review – The Next Generation Of Competitive Gaming – Gaming Trend https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/overwatch-2-review-the-next-generation-of-competitive-gaming-gaming-trend/ Let me ask you a question. At their core, what makes multiplayer games fun for you? You might say it’s “a sense of community” or “the competitive spirit”. For me, it’s the reward of knowing I’m working towards something. Every win, hell, every second of the experience makes me better and better. Knowing I’m doing all that I can against the enemy team, just to pull together a win or completely dominate them, is one of the most enjoyable things. Some games do this extremely poorly; like, arguably PUBG — but it’s less so the gameplay’s fault but rather the dwindling player base. There’s nothing like going head to head with another person and coming out on top, rather than facing bots. Overwatch is one of my most played games, ever — nearing about 500 hours. There’s something so entertaining about rising up through the rankings alongside your friends, or going on a losing streak after convincing yourself you’re only gonna play “one more”. Overwatch gave me something that not many other games can provide so well — a low-skill floor and a high-skill ceiling. What do I mean by that? Well, it’s extremely accessible since all the characters cater to a specific playstyle, but equally, it’s hard since there are many nuances to learn before you can really say you’ve gotten good. Overwatch set the bar, but has Overwatch 2 raised it or lowered it? Is it worth your time? I mean, it looks like a microtransaction-hell with better graphics, right? At least, that was my first take on it. Let’s start with our heroes. The original roster returns, and with it, three new characters from the Tank, Damage, and Support classes. If you’ve read my Overwatch 2 Preview (link) then you’ll know that almost all the characters have seen a massive change in how they play. Of course, I’m not going to get into each and everyone otherwise we’d be here for hours — let’s just tackle the most notable ones. We should address our big heroes first; the Tanks. These have seen the most drastic of changes, all to support their survivability since the switch up from 6v6 to 5v5. Not only that, but several of the characters have had their movesets altered. Orisa has swapped her shield for a javelin, which can be used to either pin enemies in place or spin in her hand to damage close-range enemies, block projectiles and melee attacks. Reinhardt’s shield is down from 1600 to 1200 HP, but has been given two Fire Strikes instead of one. Since losing his uppercut, Doomfist isn’t nearly as much of a juggler as he used to be — but his Rocket Punch can now send him any direction you point it and he’s given a block move that protects him from frontal damage. Our next batch of characters comes from our Support class. These guys haven’t seen any moveset changes (unless we’re talking about Moira, who dropped that silly damage needle in the beta and has since had her damage orb returned), so most of the changes here are either better healing output or their improved ability to self-heal. Zenyatta players will see the most notable improvement here, with his orbs now moving way quicker than they were in Overwatch. Overwatch 2 Junker Queen Gameplay – PC [Gaming Trend] Now, who could forget the largest list of characters on the roster – Damage. Damage output and survivability both feel relatively unchanged, it’s some of their movesets that have seen updates. Sombra’s gotta have had both the craziest nerf and the greatest buff; hacking now prevents enemy heroes from using their abilities for no more than two seconds (although the visual indication of a hacked enemy remains the same), yet her SMG deals damage much quicker. Mei no longer freezes enemy players (just slows them down) and Cassidy has lost his flash (RIP) in favor of a sticky grenade. Now Bastion is our heaviest hitter in the change department, and I’m sure those players are gonna be kicking their feet knowing their main is back — Bastion’s now able to move around in tank configuration and can lob grenades. Bastion’s ult, however, is going to be the worst thing to play against — you can now launch a mortar strike at any place on the map, under cover or not. If you haven’t realized already, all of the changes the characters have seen can be fit into two brackets; improved pace or improved damage output. Characters like Mei can no longer pause the action, while Bastion has been redesigned for maneuverability. Overwatch 2 is far more competitive than its predecessor, and I’m all for it it. Not only can we see these changes in the heroes, but also just how the game operates. In Quickplay (or Unranked) you’re now playing defense and attack rounds — mimicking Competitive mode. Overwatch 2 Sojourn Gameplay – PC [Gaming Trend] The three new characters also lend to all of these gameplay changes. We’ve got Junkerqueen (Tank), Sojourn (Damage), and Kiriko (Support). Junkerqueen has to be the most fun Tank on the roster right now and really reiterates the importance of the Tank’s role and its survivability. Borderline unkillable, she’s the new Queen of Junkertown and who will likely play a role in Junkrat/Roadhog’s story. She wields a shotgun as her primary, and a knife as a secondary. Unlike the shotgun, her knife is pretty remarkable — it’ll deal a small amount of bleeding damage when it hits an enemy and will pull towards you if you manage to stick it onto someone. Pull an enemy out of position, have your team dogpile them, and you’ll cut down the enemy like a hot knife through butter. Her axe deals even more wounding damage than the knife, and can also hit multiple enemies at once. Where things get crazy is her Ultimate. She’ll spin her axe, launch an insanely long distance, and any enemy she hits she will prevent them from being healed. Couple that with Zarya’s ult, and you’ll nullify every healer. On the Damage side we have a returning face from the beta; Sojourn. The first thing of note is that, since premiering in that beta, I’ve not noticed any drastic balancing changes. Her arsenal consists of a projectile-shooting railgun that charges after every successful hit, letting her launch a high-velocity round that deals (approximately) a whopping 250 damage. The charge time for that shot is stupidly low as well; about three seconds on body shots and two seconds on headshots. She can also fire an AOE attack that deals consistent damage over time, which is especially useful for crowd control. In terms of her Ultimate, this has to be the most insane DPS attack available across the entire roster. It charges her secondary ability to max SEVEN damn times, which means you could even ace an entire enemy team if you were accurate enough. At least she can’t self-heal, I guess. Overwatch 2 Kiriko Gameplay – PC [Gaming Trend] I think we can all agree that a new Support hero has been a long time coming, so it’s great to see Kiriko also joining the roster. She’s an insanely versatile character, being able to launch a projectile attack akin to Genji and heal with her other hand. At first, she was a bit tough to play, given that she heals with the left-click and attacks with her right-click —- so I recommend swapping that around as soon as you can. In terms of healing, she directs a burst of talismans that seeks targeted allies — although it takes a bit of time before they reach the player, deals only about 100 HP of healing, and takes some time to fill up again. In her current state, she plays more like Moira than a traditional healer. Of course, we can’t forget her Ultimate. She launches her fox spirit forward, and anyone on its path gains improved attack speed, movement speed, and reduced cooldowns. It’s an extremely effective Ultimate that discourages your team from stagnating, so I’m sure we’ll be seeing her played quite often. Thankfully, we’re not going into Overwatch 2 with just 3 new characters and balancing changes — otherwise, I’d be calling it Overwatch 1.5. There are quite a few maps added to the roster, some existing maps have gotten day/night variants, and we also got a new gamemode. Some of the new maps have been a bit of a 180 as compared to the OGs, and that’s mainly due to the level design. Maps like Circuit Royal are far more claustrophobic than Route 66, and that’s all because there aren’t a lot of, if any, flanking routes. For Circuit Royal, you’re fighting through city streets and preventing a Formula Lux car from reaching the hotel lobby, which is standard — no issues there — until you’re on the attacking side. This map is absolutely defense-sided, and that can be seen in the amount of verticality that side has. No matter where you are you’re always fighting an uphill battle, and given that there are no flanking routes you’ll likely struggle getting it to the first point. Maps like Route 66 and Hollywood do a fantastic job of providing more angles to attack from and more shortcuts, and that’s what we’ve really come to expect from these types of maps. It’s not all doom and gloom; where the maps are designed well, they’re designed well. The new gamemode, Push, really highlights what Overwatch 2 level design should look like. Let’s take Colosseo, a map set in Rome. In this mode, you’ll effectively play tug-of-war with the map’s robot. Each time a side takes control of the robot, it’ll move up quickly up to the large obstacle and slowly push it into the other side’s spawn. Across Rome, there are plenty of flanking routes, and plenty of high ground as you either attack or defend. This absolutely enhances Overwatch 2’s high pace, whereas maps like Circuit Royal have you hide behind shields or corners until you manage to push the objective to an even playing field. Thankfully, of the new maps, only Circuit Royal and Paraiso seem to suffer this fate, whereas Colosseo, Esperanca, and New Queen Street are peak level des...

Best Skills In Watch Dogs 2 TheGamer
Best Skills In Watch Dogs 2 – TheGamer https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/best-skills-in-watch-dogs-2-thegamer/ Watch Dogs 2 sees the rogue security system, ctOS, posing a threat to the public once again, but this time you’re not tackling it alone as a vigilante. Rather, you have the support of a Bay Area hacker organization called DedSec, and their Research App. The app hosts a sizable skill tree of seven branches filled with some of the wildest hacking skills you can imagine. Some of these skills can make your life easier as you carry out your quest to derail ctOS, while others let your imagination run amok with destruction. So here are the most awesome abilities you can unlock. 10/10 Hijacker Hijacker is a skill that becomes available once you initiate the first tier of the Vehicle Hacking branch. It costs a mere four research points and significantly improves the ease of acquiring a car, which is extremely necessary for getting around the distant locations around the map. Before learning Hijacker, you steal cars the old-fashioned way by lock picking. That creates the problem of taking longer to get in the car and potential witnesses seeing you break in, who then alert the police and cause you more trouble. Hijacker allows you to hack into the car’s electronic lock mechanisms and unlock them at the push of a button, totally undetected by pedestrians. 9/10 Proximity Scanner This skill is attached to the Quadcopter drone, one of two new devices at your disposal in Watch Dogs 2. You can unlock the Quadcopter pretty early in the game using the 3D printer at a DedSec hideout during the second story mission, but it’ll cost you a lot of money. It’s especially worth it, however, as when you obtain it and you can assign the first upgrade of Proximity Scanner. This ability essentially acts like Assassin’s Creed eagle vision, and provides a more detailed scan highlighting enemies and key objects hidden around the area. Stealth is a big part of the game, so this is immensely useful for those situations. 8/10 Enhanced Spring The RC Jumper is a small remote-controlled machine that runs on wheels and is the second of two tools you can equip from your inventory in this game. Its functions include hacking and distracting enemies, but its primary uses are getting into tight spaces such as vents and windows to scout unreachable areas and collect items. Enhanced Spring is an excellent ability upgrade for the Jumper because it allows for an increased jump distance, making it easier to reach taller openings. Unlike the Quadcopter, the Jumper comes free in the game, but this skill will cost you six research points and Key Data from Palo Alto. 7/10 Traffic Control Exploit Traffic Control Exploit is the third node in the center of the City Disruption branch and a direct upgrade for Auto Takedown, the first skill you unlock. Auto Takedown will allow you to hack open gates and steam pipes to divert enemies, but Traffic Control Exploit takes things even further and allows you to control the traffic light systems using one button. By toggling the lights from red to green, you can get cars to stop when you need a clear pathway across and then throw off pursuers by switching them back again to green. It may also trigger car accidents, which would be a good diversion for police or other enemies on your tail. 6/10 Vehicle Directional Hack This vehicle hacking skill starts to bring some fun car action into the gameplay experience, and it’s relatively inexpensive, considering it’s the base node for the Vehicle Hacking branch of the tree. It allows you to control all the directions other cars on the road are driving in, either forward-backward or right-left. It’s one of the earliest you could acquire, and very effective for missions involving chases to cause accidents more directly by getting random cars to ram foes off the road, or when there are opportunities to eliminate enemies standing near vehicles from cover. Another perk is that it puts you one step closer to the Hijacker skill. 5/10 Massive Communication Disruption Hacking skills can create pandemonium with vehicles and traffic, but they can also unleash cyberattacks on civilian electronic devices. Massive Communication Disruption sends out an interconnected burst of a hack to everyone around you, distracting them from making 911 calls if they see you do something illegal. It’s quite an upgrade from Create Distraction, which is limited to only a select civilian’s phone. It’s the second to last node on the top section of the Social Engineering branch and costs six research points to acquire. Massive Communication Disruption is nice to have, though, because achieving your criminal activities for DedSec in public locations would run more swiftly. 4/10 Massive Vehicle Hack Massive Vehicle Hack is a recipe for pure chaos on the road and makes Vehicle Directional Hack look like child’s play. It’s the third node along the bottom from the first upgrade, costing six research and a Key Data point from the Chinatown district. It has different effects depending on whether you’re in a car or on the ground. If you use it while on foot, vehicles in your vicinity will be hacked all at once and sent swerving in different directions. If driving, the skill will distract other drivers and clear pathways for you on the road, presenting a more daring alternative to the Traffic Control Exploit. 3/10 Gang War Aside from hacking virtually everything to disrupt the natural order of things and evade combatants, gangs are another option to consider. There are three tiers to the gang section of the Social Engineering branch, and Gang War is the top upgrade for it. It’s certainly a step up from the basic Gang Attack, where only two small members take out a target for you. Gang War calls down an entire group of strong gang members to deal with the target assigned to them. It’s a welcoming ability to save you from massive sticky situations, since enemies will engage with the gang, and you’ll be free to leave the scene. 2/10 System Crash Upgrade: Blackout As established, stealth becomes a pivotal route in the world of Watch Dogs 2. However, using Quadcopters, RC Jumpers, silent takedowns, and non-lethal weapons to incapacitate enemies carefully can sometimes go wrong. Guards can still detect you, and you might soon find yourself in a bind. The Blackout skill offers a perfect solution for that. It’s the final upgrade node above the Massive Crash System in the City Disruption branch, and can shut down all power in the area for you to remain hidden from enemies under cover of darkness. 1/10 Remote Gadgets Remote Gadgets is one of the last skills you can unlock in the Remote CTRL branch, and it counts toward both the RC Jumper and Quadcopter devices. It gives you the ability to modify those machines into something more lethal by equipping them with explosives such as zappers and IEDs. This skill becomes particularly overpowered when you can use the Quadcopter to drop an explosive on a helicopter, thereby destroying it to get it off your tail. Sure, you can use the Chopper Retreat Exploit for this purpose, which is cheaper anyway, but an explosive drone sounds like a much more epic way to resolve your helicopter issue. Outside Dollars Help Republican U.S. Senate Candidates Close Financial Gap With Democrats – Reuters https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/outside-dollars-help-republican-u-s-senate-candidates-close-financial-gap-with-democrats-reuters/ WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) – Republicans in the tightest U.S. Senate races are getting help from deep-pocketed allies who are unleashing a late advertising blitz, potentially neutralizing their Democratic rivals’ fundraising advantage heading into the Nov. 8 midterm elections. Led by a fundraising group tied to Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell, dozens of conservative organizations reported spending more than $104 million in September to help Republican candidates in seven Senate races widely seen as competitive, a Reuters analysis of federal disclosures found. Democrats’ allies in the same races – spread across Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – have reported spending about $23 million last month, less than a quarter of the sum reported by Republican allies. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Democratic campaigns have reported having bigger bank accounts in six of the seven states, ranging from New Hampshire where U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan had about $7 million more on hand than Republican challenger Don Bolduc in late August, to Arizona where U.S. Senator Mark Kelly had a $23 million advantage over Republican Blake Masters in mid-July. In Wisconsin, Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson had a $1 million advantage over Democrat Mandela Barnes in mid-July. The outside spending – which has overwhelmingly funded ads – could make a difference in the final five weeks before the elections, when Republicans are favored to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives but the Senate is up for grabs. Any of the seven races could tip the balance of power in the Senate, currently split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans, with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris holding the tie-breaking vote. In Pennsylvania, more than $20 million in recent spending by Republican allies has fueled a barrage of attack ads against Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman, accusing him of being “dangerously liberal on crime.” “They have been ubiquitous,” Chris Borick, a political scientist at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, said of the anti-Fetterman ads. Nonpartisan election forecaster The Cook Political Report changed its rating on that contest on Tuesday to “toss up,” from narrowly favoring the Democrat. MONEY MATTERS The advertising push could be hurting Fetterman’s standing among elderly voters, a demographic with a high turnout rate in midterms that also watches a lot of television, said Borick, who runs the college’s polling institute. “Could the money matter in this and the other races? I think the belief is increasingly that it can,” Borick said. A Muhlenberg College poll conducted Sept. 13-16 showed Fetterman up 49%-44% over Republican celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz. The gap was within the poll’s margin of error. But among voters age 65 and older, Oz had a commanding 54% to 40% lead. Fetterman’s campaign reported having $5.5 million in the bank at the end of June, compared to Oz’s $1.1 million. The Democrat’s big campaign account helped him respond with his own television ads defending his votes on Pennsylvania’s Board of Pardons to give some people in prison a “second chance” by commuting their sentence. Across the seven races, the Republican advantage in recent spending by allies reflects in part wealthy donors seeking to even out the financial stakes. In Arizona, Masters’ allies – including a group funded by his old boss and Thiel Capital founder, billionaire Peter Thiel – reported directly spending more than $12 million to support his campaign or to oppose Kelly. Kelly’s allies reported spending about $6 million to help his cause. “Outside groups are making up the difference,” said Aaron Scherb, a lobbyist on campaign finance and election issues for Common Cause, a watchdog group that advocates for increasing transparency in campaign finance. Under U.S. campaign finance rules, outside groups can spend unlimited amounts supporting candidates as long as the outlays are not coordinated with campaigns. Much of outside spending comes from Super PACs, funding groups that include the McConnell-tied Senate Leadership Fund and the Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund, which advocates for tighter gun laws and has taken big checks from wealthy Democratic donors. Super PACs face no limits on the size of contributions they can take from individuals or from other groups. The Senate Leadership Fund, which has reported spending more than $60 million in September helping Republicans in the seven competitive Senate races, has received contributions of at least $10 million since December from hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin, according to the Super PAC’s financial disclosures. The groups behind the recent outside spending have yet to file comprehensive financial reports for September but are required by the Federal Election Commission to disclose large independent outlays soon after making them. A notable absence in the Republican-aligned spending blitz is former President Donald Trump. Trump’s Save America fundraising group has amassed more than $90 million after taking in close to one-fifth of online fundraising reported in the current election cycle by Republican online donation portal WinRed. While Trump has held rallies supporting Oz and other Republicans, he has yet to report spending any money on ads supporting congressional candidates. For instance, GoReady’s Choice plan includes $250,000 in emergency medical assistance and transportation — but with an upgrade, you can buy up to double that amount ($500 000). There are add-ons, too, like CFAR (cancel for any reason) coverage, which reimburses you 75% of your prepaid trip expenses, or “cancel for work reasons.” which covers 100%. With certain plans, it’s also possible to upgrade policy limits.  Depending on the play you choose, other upgrades include coverage for rental car damage, missed port of call, sporting equipment coverage, and more. How much does travel insurance from GoReady cost? By visiting GoReady’s website and providing basic information about your trip, you can get a quote for the insurance plans available for your journey within seconds. Be sure to have information such as travelers’ age and state of residence, travel dates, and total trip cost ready before beginning so that you can compare quotes accurately. Now let’s take a look at a few examples of coverage options and pricing from GoReady. Below you’ll see the five options available to a 40-year-old taking a $4,000 trip to Mexico. The lowest-tier policy sells for $108, while the top-tier coverage costs $165. That’s only about 3-4% of the total trip cost. GoReady travle insurance In this next example, you can see quotes for a 55-year-old traveler going to Spain, with a trip cost of $5,000. Policies range from $209 to $308, or 4% to a little over 6% of total trip costs.  GoReady travel insurance As you can see, the amount you’ll pay for your premium will depend on how old you are and the specifics of your trip. However, these quotes fall within the average price range when it comes to what part of your total trip cost insurance will be. No matter which company you go with, usually you’re looking at paying 4-8% of your entire vacation in insurance fees. How do I file a claim with GoReady? To file a claim with GoReady, you can reach out by phone, email, or live chat. You will need to begin by completing a claim form and gathering the required documentation. In most cases, the entire process should only take between seven and 10 business days. For Claims Assistance, call 888-429-0370 (Option 3). Compare GoReady vs HTH Worldwide HTH Worldwide’s most popular TripProtector Preferred plan comes with $500,000 in emergency medical coverage, $50,000 in trip cancellation, $2,000 in baggage loss/damage, and $2,000 in trip delay insurance. With GoReady’s Choice plan, you’ll get $250,000 in emergency medical assistance, 150% of trip cost in trip cancellation, $500 in baggage loss/damage coverage, and $200 for baggage delays, and you can get upgraded protection. In comparing the two plans, you’ll see that GoReady offers better coverage when it comes to medical protections, but falls short, compared to HTH Worldwide, when it comes to travel coverages. Compare GoReady vs Allianz Like GoReady, Allianz offers single-trip policies as well as policies for those who plan to travel for a longer period of time. And, like with all insurance, the different plans provide varying degrees of coverage. Allianz‘s most popular single-trip option is the OneTrip Prime plan, which offers trip cancellation coverage up to $100,000, trip interruption coverage up to $150,000, emergency medical coverage for $50,000, coverage for baggage loss, theft or damage up to $1,000, and travel delay coverage up to $800. In comparison, GoReady’s Choice plan offers $250,000 in emergency medical assistance, evacuation and repatriation insurance. And it comes with up to $500 in baggage loss or damage coverage and $200 if your bags are delayed. Upgraded protection is an option, too. Compare GoReady vs credit card insurance coverage Be sure to take a look at your travel rewards credit card‘s insurance coverage before buying a separate policy. Some coverages, like rental car coverage, might already be included. Let’s say, for example, you’re taking a road trip and have very minimal (if any) pre-paid or non-refundable trip expenses. In that case, the coverage from your credit card will likely suffice. Or maybe your main concern is trip and baggage delay and cancellation coverage because your current health coverage covers you overseas. That’s another instance where credit card insurance coverage might do the trick! Worth noting, though, is that sometimes credit card coverage is secondary. This means you’ll have to make a claim with your other applicable insurance before making a claim with your credit card company. Methodology When reviewing GoReady travel insurance, we considered various factors such as types of coverage, claim limits, available policy add-ons, and costs. We then compared these findings to similar plans from other reliable companies. In the end, the best policy is the one that offers an adequate amount and type of coverage depending on your needs and budget. It should also be user-friendly in case you have to make a claim sometime in the future. Frequently asked questions Yes. GoReady (formerly April Insurance) gets high ratings for its customer service and customer satisfaction. It’s a well-known insurance provider that has been around for a number of years.  The exact cost will depend on where you’re traveling, your age, and other factors, but generally you should expect to pay between ...

Sutton, a former collegiate soccer player, has been SportsLine’s top soccer editor for more than five years. He has followed soccer closely for much longer and factors in managerial tactics, projected lineups and past performances to make the most-informed decisions possible, keeping his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe. Sutton also has been on a roll with his best bets, going 130-95-1 on his soccer best bets in 2022, returning more than $2,000 for $100 bettors.  For Liverpool vs. Rangers, Sutton is picking over 3.5 goals to be scored for a -125 payout. The expert acknowledges that the Scottish side has been held without a goal in its first two Champions League matches, losing 4-0 to Ajax and 3-0 to Napoli. But Rangers could break that trend on Tuesday against a Liverpool defense that has conceded 10 goals over its last three fixtures. This doesn’t mean Liverpool won’t pack plenty of firepower of their own, given how much they have been scoring at home as of late. “Liverpool have scored 16 goals in their last four games at Anfield, one of the main reasons I expect to see Over 3.5 goals scored in this matchup,” Sutton told SportsLine. Technology Expert Gives Tips To Avoid Spam Calls Leader Publications
Technology Expert Gives Tips To Avoid Spam Calls – Leader Publications https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/technology-expert-gives-tips-to-avoid-spam-calls-leader-publications/ The phone rings, but it’s an unknown number so you send it to voicemail. No sooner does the phone stop ringing than a different unknown number lights up on the screen. By the end of the day, there are 14 calls in your inbox from unknown numbers. This continues for days, weeks, maybe even months. “It gets to the point where I just want to throw my phone out the window,” said Teresa Goldizen. Goldizen is one of many St. Joseph area residents who deal with an influx of spam calls. She said she gets calls as late as 9 p.m. and is sometimes woken up by them. She said she wishes scammers would quit harassing people. “I wish there was something that (the phone company) could do because sometimes I think my blood pressure rises because it makes me so mad that they call back-to-back like that,” Goldizen said. One technology expert said to avoid getting spam calls, stop giving out your phone number. Burton Kelso is the chief tech expert at Integral, a computer service company. He said even when people are giving their numbers to verified companies, there’s a chance that business is selling information to a third party, where they potentially can land on the dark web. “The challenge with smartphone phone numbers is that people are using them as their primary number and you get into the habit of giving that number out to everyone,” Kelso said. “And in the case of handing out your phone number to everyone, there is a good chance that your cell phone number will be leaked in a large-scale data breach.” Shawn Kobzej also has been struggling with spam calls and said this is what happened to him a couple of months ago. “I signed up for something one day, I don’t remember exactly what it was, but I just remember the next day that I got 13 or 14 spam calls,” Kobzej said. “My phone just wouldn’t stop ringing all day long and it was just terribly annoying.” Along with not giving out personal numbers, Kelso said people can set up a second, free number through companies like WhatsApp or Google voice or talk to phone companies about programs to reduce robocalls. He said the do-not-call list works for reputable marketers, but cybercriminals find ways around the list and contact those numbers anyways. Darren Doyle’s landline phone used to receive a lot of incoming spam calls, but now, he has a new problem. “Those calls stopped and we’re getting random calls from other people that think we called them, and we’ve never called them,” Doyle said. After phone numbers are in the hands of scammers, Kelso said cybercriminals can spoof, or mimic, numbers and use them to call people in that area, making the call seem more realistic. Doyle asked his phone company what he can do about this but hasn’t acted on anything yet. “They said, of course, you can change your phone number, but I mean, we’re just not really in the place where we can do that,” Doyle said. Kelso said the reason cybercriminals do this is to get victims to react. “Ninety-nine percent of cybercrime requires user interaction,” Kelso said. “So, it’s not that criminals are going to be able to hack into your smartphone or mobile device, you have to be the person to click on the link or give out the information for criminals to take advantage of you.” He said ways to recognize a spam call include a long pause before someone talks on the other end of the phone, if the caller has a foreign accent, if the caller claims they’re from the government or if the caller asks for personal information. “Voicemail is probably your best friend because at least then you know if it’s a legitimate call, someone is going to leave a voicemail message for you to call back,” Kelso said. “But, if it’s someone who is just reaching out and trying to spam you, chances are they’re not going to leave you a voicemail message and you can just ignore that.” If you do fall victim to a scam, Kelso said to get identity theft protection and contact your bank and credit card companies and let them know your accounts are compromised. It also doesn’t hurt to contact law enforcement to inform officers of what scams are going around locally.

This New Crypto Is Expected To 85x By 2023 – Here’s Everything You Need To Know – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/this-new-crypto-is-expected-to-85x-by-2023-heres-everything-you-need-to-know-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com. The cryptocurrency market has had a disappointing 2022, with its total cap sinking from $2.33 trillion on January 1 to just under $1 trillion today, making for a decline of 57%. However, while the overall picture has been underwhelming, a number of smaller and newer altcoins have beaten market averages, with such tokens including ApeCoin, Lido, Quant, Ethereum Classic, and Tamadoge. There’s a good chance that one more new altcoin can be added to this list: the Impact Project (IMPT). The Impact Project is a platform that uses the Ethereum blockchain and NFTs to incentivize more environmentally friendly behavior among consumers and businesses alike, allowing users to trade carbon credits. It has just announced the presale for its native IMPT token in the past 24 hours, offering interested investors the chance to acquire 1 IMPT for $0.018. And at a time when the market’s demand for proof-of-stake and ecologically positive blockchains appears to be growing, this presale has a very good chance of selling out. This New Crypto is Expected to 85x by 2023 Looking at the Impact Project’s whitepaper, its avowed aim is to help “each individual and business offset their carbon footprint in an easy and secure way.” It intends to do this by combining its own IMPT token with a tokenization platforms for carbon credits, with carbon credits being tokenized as NFTs. By offering a marketplace for NFT-based carbon credits, the Impact Project will not only let individuals and businesses offset their carbon footprint, but also let those individuals and businesses that have already offset their footprint receive financial rewards for doing so. Interestingly, the Impact Project is teaming up with “hundreds of impactful environmental projects around the world” and with “thousands of the largest retail brands” that allocate a percentage of their sales to environmental products. Its through such partnerships that the platform’s users will be able to acquire carbon credits, which they will be able to do in one of two ways. “With our platform, users can acquire carbon credits while doing their regular shopping. Alternatively, they can simply purchase them on the platform,” says its whitepaper. Such a setup has a two-pronged positive effect on the environment. On the one hand, it simply links consumers with environmentally friendly projects and brands, with their purchases funding whatever initiatives these projects and brands may have going. On the other hand, it establishes an innovative, blockchain- and NFT-based system for carbon credits, with users able to gain such credits either through responsible shopping or through a direct purchase. Either way, the accumulation of carbon credits contributes to each user’s IMPT.io score, which provides each user with the opportunity to “earn points for their efforts and measure how impactful they are.” What’s interesting about the Impact Project’s use of the Ethereum blockchain is that, once a carbon credit has been acquired by a user, it is tokenized on the platform, with the user receiving it in the form of an NFT. This prevents the double spending of credits, while it also prevents credits from being used again after they have been retired. In the Impact Project’s view, such a framework will eliminate many of the problems that currently plague the market for carbon credits as it currently exists, such as overvaluation of credits, fraud, overselling of allowances, and not following proper retirement procedures. By digitalizing everything on a transparent and irreversible blockchain, the Impact Project believes it will make the carbon offset market fairer and more efficient.  85x Gains by 2023? With these promising foundations in place, the Impact Project launched the first stage of its presale for its IMPT token yesterday. This initial stage makes the coin available for $0.018, with the second and third stages planned to set the price at $0.023 and $0.028. The first stage is due to run until it sells out, or November 3 if it doesn’t. Based on other projects with interesting fundamentals that have also had their presales this year, it’s likely that it will sell out, with the Impact Project setting a hard cap of 600,000,000 IMPT, worth around $10.8 million. It has already sold over $150,000 in a little under 24 hours, which is good going for token and project that has yet to receive too much attention. However, with the cryptocurrency ecosystem currently focused on environmentally friendly blockchains (e.g. Ethereum’s transition to proof-of-stake), much more could be sold in the coming days. And going by what the market has seen with presales such as Tamadoge’s,  IMPT has every chance to experience big gains in relation to its presale price once it receives its initial listings. TAMA, for example, has jumped by over 1,000% over its presale price of $0.01, so if IMPT were to do the same, it could be selling for around $0.2 not long after it becomes tradable. See our best crypto presales article for more upcoming tokens set to launch this year or in early 2023. Participate in the IMPT presale Buy TAMA on OKX CEX

U.S. Supreme Court Leans Toward Alabama In Voting Rights Fight – Reuters https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/u-s-supreme-court-leans-toward-alabama-in-voting-rights-fight-reuters/ Voters cast ballots for 2020 Democratic Primary Election inside of a polling station at the Selma Fire Station on Super Tuesday in Selma, Alabama , U.S., March 3, 2020. REUTERS/Michael A. McCoy WASHINGTON, Oct 4 (Reuters) – The U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative justices on Tuesday appeared sympathetic toward Alabama in the state’s defense of a Republican-drawn electoral map faulted by judges for diluting the clout of Black voters in a major case that could further undermine a landmark federal voting rights law. In spirited oral arguments lasting nearly two hours, Alabama Solicitor General Edmund LaCour faced tough questioning from the court’s three liberal justices – Ketanji Brown Jackson, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. Some of the conservative justices, however, appeared open to certain of LaCour’s defenses of the map devised by the state’s legislature delineating the boundaries of Alabama’s seven U.S. House of Representatives districts. An eventual ruling siding with Alabama could make it harder to prove that state voting laws harm minorities. The court has a 6-3 conservative majority. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com A three-judge federal court panel invalidated the map after it was challenged as unlawful by Black voters. But the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 decision in February, let Alabama use the map for the Nov. 8 U.S. congressional elections in which Republicans are trying to regain control of Congress. The dispute gives the court’s conservatives a chance to further roll back protections contained in the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which prohibits racial discrimination in voting. Conservative Justice Samuel Alito expressed support for raising the burden on plaintiffs to show that an electoral map is biased, suggesting that given current legal standards in “every place in the South … will not the plaintiffs always run the table?” Alito added, “It may be that Black voters and white voters prefer different candidates now because they have different ideas about what the government should do.” The lower court found that Alabama’s map diminished the influence of Black voters by concentrating their voting power into a single House district even though the state’s population is 27% Black, while distributing the rest of the Black population in other districts at levels too small to form a majority. Jackson, the first Black woman to serve on the court, rejected LaCour’s argument that states should not consider race in crafting electoral district lines to comply with the Voting Rights Act. The law, Jackson said, “is saying you need to identify people in this community who have less opportunity and less ability to participate – and ensure that that’s remedied. It’s a race-conscious effort.” “What strikes me about this case is that under our precedent it’s kind of a slam dunk” against Alabama’s map, Kagan said. LaCour told the justices that Alabama’s legislature drew the map “in a lawful race neutral manner.” “The state largely retained its existing districts and made changes needed to equalize population. But that wasn’t good enough for the plaintiffs. They argued that Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act requires Alabama to replace its map with a racially gerrymandered plan maximizing the number of majority-minority districts,” LaCour said. The Voting Rights Act was enacted at a time when Southern states including Alabama enforced policies blocking Black people from casting ballots. The case centers on a Voting Rights Act provision, called Section 2, aimed at countering voting laws that result in racial bias even absent racist intent. Sotomayor questioned LaCour about why the Republican-drawn map split up key Black communities among House districts but not key white communities. Conservative Justice Amy Coney Barrett said that while proving a map violates Section 2 does not require a showing that state intended to discriminate, a baseline is needed to determine whether a map improperly dilutes Black voters. CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS Alabama has argued that drawing a second district to give Black voters a better chance at electing their preferred candidate would itself be racially discriminatory by favoring them at the expense of other voters. If the Voting Rights Act required the state to consider race in such a manner, according to Alabama, the statute would violate the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment guarantee of equal protection under the law. Jackson during her second day on the bench questioned the Alabama’s position that interpreting Section 2 to require Alabama to create another majority-Black district would violate the 14th Amendment, which was ratified in 1868 after the U.S. Civil War to help protect the rights of newly freed Black enslaved people. A decision is expected by the end of June. Democratic President Joe Biden’s administration backed the plaintiffs. Conservative states and groups already have successfully prodded the Supreme Court to limit the Voting Rights Act’s scope. Its 2013 ruling in another Alabama case struck down a key part that determined which states with histories of racial discrimination needed federal approval to change voting laws. In a 2021 ruling endorsing Republican-backed Arizona voting restrictions, the justices made it harder to prove violations under Section 2. Electoral districts are redrawn each decade to reflect population changes as measured by a national census, last taken in 2020. In most states, such redistricting is done by the party in power, which can lead to map manipulation for partisan gain.
