Ackee And Saltfish Bites Lamb Tarts And Custom-Made Sneakers: A Travel Writers Guide To Toronto Salon
Ackee And Saltfish Bites, Lamb Tarts And Custom-Made Sneakers: A Travel Writer’s Guide To Toronto – Salon https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/ackee-and-saltfish-bites-lamb-tarts-and-custom-made-sneakers-a-travel-writers-guide-to-toronto-salon/
I loved visiting Toronto, with its long streets filled with lots of little shops and restaurants, alongside the parks and greenery. Nearly every person we encountered in this city of nearly 4 million was kind and thoughtful, not to mention generous with their recommendations. The city has so much to explore and enjoy — which we did.
Here is a breakdown of where to stay, what to eat and what to do in the city, from finding delectably crisp Jamaican ackee and saltfish bites to designing my own custom pair of sneakers.
Where to stay
Shangri-La Toronto
Staying in the Toronto Shangri-La hotel is an experience. On the drive up, you’ll see the hotel in all its glory as one of the tallest buildings in Toronto, soaring high and standing out against the city skyline. The lobby is just as glamorous, with extremely high ceilings and two-story windows, a comfortable check-in area, and a lobby lounge called Toronto’s Living Room. Fireplaces are scattered throughout, providing warmth and a cozy vibe despite the size of the space.
Our room was comfortable and spacious, with huge floor-to-ceiling windows offering a magnificent view of Toronto’s downtown. The European-style bathroom is massive, with a deep soaking bathtub that I can easily fit into, but a relatively standard-size shower and water closet. The walls and floor are covered with marble, and the massive mirror comes with an embedded TV, just in case you like doing your makeup with some entertainment.
But, most importantly, the bed is really, really comfortable, perfect for sinking into at the end of a long day exploring the city.
Hotel view (Jodyann Morgan )The lobby lounge serves food all day, and a roster of pop-up restaurants means you’ll be getting the best food for any meal that you choose to eat in. We dined at Veuve Clicquot Patio, which has since closed, but if it’s a reflection of the quality of the food, I have to say that I’m impressed. Meat cooked to the perfect medium-rare, scallops perfectly seared, and delectable crispy salmon skin.

Sheraton Gateway in Toronto International Airport
I’ve never stayed at an airport hotel that I loved until I stayed at the Sheraton Gateway in Toronto’s International Airport. Having recently undergone a $30 million top-to-bottom makeover, the Sheraton is visually stunning. The beds are extremely comfortable and the view takes the already great hotel to the next level. Since the Sheraton is attached directly to the airport, many rooms give you a clear view of the planes taking off and landing, which is stunning during the day, but simply magical at night. Just keep in mind that the hotel is not attached to the terminal where US flights fly out, so give yourself at least an extra 30 minutes (so you don’t miss your flight like Morgan and I did).
Where to Eat
This section primarily focuses on luxurious, romantic, once-in-a-lifetime restaurants — but it’s not representative of the wide variety of incredible food in Toronto. Travel is all about experiencing. Living in the moment. Walk down the streets of Little Tibet and choose a restaurant at random to order momo. Stroll through Kensington Market and eat dinner by trying a little at a whole bunch of little food shops.
Chubby’s Jamaican
My wife is from Jamaica, and we live in a relatively smaller city, so there isn’t much Jamaican food. When we travel, especially to major metropolitans, we constantly gravitate to Jamaican restaurants, especially the ones that serve ackee and saltfish, which is my wife’s favorite and is hard to find, even when there is a Jamaican restaurant in town.
I wish you could have seen the smile on her face when she walked into Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen. The restaurant has a rustic feel, with exposed beams and a lot of natural light. The service was fantastic and incredibly attentive, and the food came really quickly. The Everything Nice was a hit on the cocktail menu — featuring rum, Aperol, mango, lemon, tamarind and scotch bonnet. The rum punch wasn’t super strong, so if you want a stronger drink, add a shot.
You’re going to want to order the ackee and saltfish bites. The ackee and saltfish are piled onto a fried dumpling, which has been cut down the middle. Ripe plantains were deep fried, producing a wicked crispy exterior and a super ripe, super sweet interior. While the mac and cheese was not reminiscent of a Jamaican macaroni pie,it was out of this world. It featured little bits of saltfish that acted as a flavor-booster like anchovies do in Caesar dressing. Creamy and delicious.

Squish factor: The bathroom is small, but doable. Half the seating is on the main floor, but half is upstairs with a flight of stairs to walk up. Ask for lower-level seating when making your reservation if stairs are not your thing.
Byblos Downtown
The outside of Byblos, an Eastern Mediterranean restaurant, is pretty nondescript, but after you walk down the stairs into the restaurant, it’s a whole different world. The restaurant is dimly-lit, filled with large round tables for group dining. Booths line the right side of the restaurant. The staff treat you like family and are incredibly familiar with the dishes served. Skip the beef tartar, which was just OK because the menu is full of absolutely incredible food.
The wagyu lamb tart was amazing, a perfect balance of flavors surrounded by a chewy crust for a great balance of texture. We were informed that the lamb shoulder main course was the restaurant’s signature dish, and it was crystal clear why that was as soon as it got to the table. Beautifully prepared with pomegranate seeds on top and served with a variety of sauces, like zhug and labneh, as well as delicate wrappers to make your own bites. My wife loved the bronzino, served whole, deboned and butterflied.
Leave room for dessert. The chocolate cake is made for chocolate lovers and skeptics alike, and their version of baklava is out of the world.
Squish factor: Must walk down the stairs to get to the restaurant. Very narrow bathroom stalls.
MIMI Chinese
Just having opened a year ago, MIMI Chinese feels like luxury from the moment you walk in the door. The restaurant is extremely dark (actually, a little too dark) with crimson velvet upholstered chairs and booths, and a large, striking lotus flower mural. The leather-bound menu is extensive, featuring dishes from all over China, but focused on Cantonese food from Guangdong province. Morgan and I got the chef’s tasting menu, which featured many of the dishes from the menu in smaller formats so we could try a wide variety. The star of the show is a visually stunning (and pretty tasty) four-foot-long single noodle dish, a MIMI Chinese version of Shaanxi Biang Biang noodles, traditionally served with Sichuan chili oil and cut with scissor table side. I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot of great Chinese food over the years, and in a lot of ways, this is a restaurant you go to for the ambiance and decor. The food is good, but there is a lot of absolutely stellar Chinese food in Toronto.
Canoe
For luxury dining with panoramic views, you’ll have to make reservations at Canoe. Located on the 54th floor of the TD Bank Tower, Canoe serves a menu that celebrates local Canadian ingredients. The service is attentive, but leaves plenty of room for you and your dining companion or partner to enjoy each other’s company. Let’s just say that Canoe is definitely proposal-worthy!
We started our meal by sharing a perfectly cooked scallop served on its shell, covered in pastry dough “en croûte,” and bison tartare, which offers a lighter flavor profile than the traditional beef tartare. Our main course was a flaky, wild Pacific halibut, served with roe and an onion ring, cooked perfectly. Halibut is one of my favorite fish to order at a restaurant and Canoe did not disappoint.
I’d skip the surf and turf, which included an aged California strip loin and a half lobster, in favor of something on the menu that’s more unique. The dessert menu is extensive, featuring Canadian cheeses and pastries. We ordered an Ontario rhubarb terrine with camelina oil cake and goat yogurt mousse, and it was simply divine and perfectly balanced.
Expert Tip: Make a reservation a little bit before the sun is set to go down, allowing you to admire the city both in the daylight and in the dark as the lights twinkle around you.
Activities
Hammam Spa by Céla
Located in a high-end mall, the Hamman Spa by Cela is tucked away, an oasis where you can re-energize. Morgan and I got the Céla Seed to Skin Ritual, which was unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. Walking into the treatment room, you’ll find a massive stone table, large enough for both of us to lay down on, which we were encouraged to do in just our bikini bottoms. What followed was incredible, and somehow super funny at the same time. We were covered in bubbles and washed from our neck down to our toes using buckets of water that were dumped on us. Then nearly every inch was scrubbed before being washed yet again and finally covered in body cream. It was an incredibly relaxing experience; my skin was so soft and vibrant for days after the treatment. Hammam Spa by Céla will help take your vacation to the next level.
Squish factor: The largest robe was a tad too small on me, but still worked. If you wear over a size 24, you’ll be more comfortable in your own robe. We got a tour of the place, and I would not recommend getting a pedicure due to the high-level positioning of the chairs.

Madison Heart Walk Works To Spread Awareness Save Lives WKOW
Madison Heart Walk Works To Spread Awareness, Save Lives – WKOW https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/madison-heart-walk-works-to-spread-awareness-save-lives-wkow/
MADISON (WKOW) — Over 1,000 people walked for a cause that is both close to and beneficial for their hearts at Warner Park in Madison Saturday.
The American Heart Association’s Madison Heart Walk encourages everyone to become champions of heart health through CPR training, regular checkups and living a healthy lifestyle.
Sunita Murthy, Development Director for the Madison Heart Walk, has a personal connection to the walk.
“I did lose my mother in 2020. She did have heart surgery bypass. And, my father’s had a couple of bypass surgeries as well,” Murthy said.
Because of this, Murthy said she began participating and working for the organization to raise awareness and save lives.
“Our mission is to be a relentless force to help people live longer lives, and healthier lives,” Murthy said.
Dawn Mortimer, Chief Administrative Officer for Total Administrative Services Corporation, helped recruit walkers and donors for this year’s walk. The event’s mission also hits close to home for her.
“My mother didn’t have her heart checked regularly, nor her glucose levels, and she ended up suffering a massive stroke about 13 years ago, which changed our lives,” Mortimer said. “About a month ago, she unfortunately passed away from cardiac disease.”
Mortimer said her mom isn’t alone. She said someone in the U.S. suffers a heart attack or stroke every 40 seconds. But, she added the good news: both are preventable.
“It’s all changed by just doing a few things: quitting smoking, getting up and moving, being active, eating smart and making sure you get your numbers checked– whether it be glucose, heart monitor, all of that,” Mortimer said.
WKOW was a proud sponsor of the Madison Heart Walk.

No. 3 Ohio State overcame a crucial mistake and established a big lead in the second quarter to carry a 35-13 lead into the locker room at halftime against Michigan State. This is the first true road game of the season for C.J. Stroud and the Buckeyes, so when the star quarterback threw an interception that led to an early Michigan State touchdown, the potential for a real test seemed to be in the air in East Lansing, Michigan.
But the crowd that was rocking early started to sense the game get away as Stroud and Ohio State scored touchdowns on all four of the ensuing drives after the interception. While Michigan State has struggled to move the ball consistently, the Buckeyes have capitalized on alignment errors by the Spartans defense and their wealth of pass-catching options — three Ohio State receivers have between 80 and 110 yards through just two quarters — to continue to pour on the points through the afternoon.
In total, Stroud has completed 15 of 18 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns to go with that interception while star running back TreVeyon Henderson, back in the lineup after missing last week’s win, has already totaled 117 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts.

Latest EU Sanctions Expected To Stimulate Russia’s Own Crypto Market, Exchanges Maintain Services – Regulation Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/latest-eu-sanctions-expected-to-stimulate-russias-own-crypto-market-exchanges-maintain-services-regulation-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/
The new crypto sanctions imposed by the European Union are likely to spur the development of the country’s digital asset market, according to a Russian lawmaker. Anatoly Aksakov, who chairs the parliamentary Financial Market Committee, believes Russians will manage to bypass the restrictions. Meanwhile, major exchanges have reportedly informed Russian users that trading continues.
Russians Find Ways to Circumvent Mounting European Crypto Sanctions, Duma Member Insists
This week, the EU adopted its eighth package of penalties against Russia, meant to hit its government, economy, and energy exports in response to the recent escalation of the military conflict in Ukraine and the annexation of Ukrainian territories. Russian access to cryptocurrency, viewed as a tool to circumvent financial restrictions and export wealth, was also targeted.
Anatoly Aksakov
The Council of the European Union completely banned the provision of crypto wallet, account, and custody services to Russian residents and entities. However, according to a high-ranking member of the Russian parliament quoted by the Tass news agency, the EU decision may actually stimulate the development of Russia’s digital financial asset (DFA) market.
The opinion was expressed by Anatoly Aksakov, head of the Financial Market Committee at the State Duma, the lower house of Russian parliament. He has been deeply involved in recent efforts to regulate the country’s crypto space, including the use of digital currencies in international settlements. Authorities in Moscow have been discussing the matter for over a year and considering an expansion of the legal framework which currently covers mostly DFAs with an issuer, such as tokens.
The latest round of EU sanctions tightens previously imposed restrictions. Earlier this year, as part of its fifth package of measures approved a little over a month after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, the 27-strong bloc limited only “high-value” crypto-asset services for Russians and Russian-registered organizations — those for digital holdings exceeding €10,000 in fiat value (approx. $11,000 at the time, less than $10,000 now).
Binance, Huobi Comment on Latest EU Sanctions, No New Restrictions for Now
“Similar decisions have already been made before. They closed the official representative offices of their crypto exchanges in Russia, but de facto nothing has changed. There can also be an office in the virtual space, not at some address in Moscow,” Anatoly Aksakov further elaborated, insisting that Russians can easily bypass the sanctions.
While the world’s largest crypto exchange, Binance, partially complied with the EU’s earlier requirements, allowing only withdrawals in the case of Russian account balances exceeding €10,000, it has now told users it did not introduce new restrictions, Bits.media revealed in a report. Another major platform, Huobi, said it “continues to support the stable trading of Russian users.”
Of the top seven global crypto exchanges popular with Russians, which also include Bybit, Coinbase, FTX, Kraken, and Gate.io, none is a “European resident” for which the measures would be mandatory, the Russian crypto news outlet noted. Russian crypto experts, like the CEO of defi banking platform Indefibank, Sergey Mendeleev, doubt that most crypto companies would rush to implement the EU resolution targeting all Russian users as this would lead to loss of market positions.
“Moreover, these restrictions stimulate the development of modern technologies. Next year will be the year of digital financial assets in Russia, you’ll see,” Aksakov promised. His comments come as deputies in the State Duma prepare to adopt a new law “On Digital Currency” designed to regulate decentralized crypto assets such as bitcoin and their employment in cross-border crypto payments between Russian companies and their foreign partners.

Biden Admin Says It Has Reunited 500 Migrant Families Separated At US Border During Trump-Era Fox News
Biden Admin Says It Has Reunited 500 Migrant Families Separated At US Border During Trump-Era – Fox News https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/biden-admin-says-it-has-reunited-500-migrant-families-separated-at-us-border-during-trump-era-fox-news/
The Biden administration says that it has reunified 500 migrant families who were separated during the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy that aimed to stop illegal immigration into the U.S.
“This is a significant milestone that reflects the tireless dedication of the many public servants in the Department of Homeland Security and across the federal government, including those in the Departments of Health and Human Services, State, and Justice,” Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement.
“It is a milestone that we could not have achieved without the partnership and critical work of several incredibly committed non-governmental organizations,” he said.
Mayorkas said that nearly 200 minors are in the process of being united with their parents.

The Trump administration implemented the “zero tolerance” policy in 2018 to counteract a surge in illegal immigration at the border, prosecuting all illegal entries. However, accompanying children who came as part of a family unit could not be housed in adult detention centers with their accompanying adults.
The Trump administration’s response was to separate the minors from their accompanying adults, placing them in Health and Human Services (HHS) care and allowing for detention and deportation of the adults. It was intended to dissuade migrant families from making the journey north in the first place.
After outrage over the separations, President Donald Trump ended the policy. When the Biden administration took over, it pledged to make sure that any illegal immigrant who had been separated from their child is brought into the U.S. and reunited. To ensure this happens, it launched the Family Reunification Task Force.
Those identified as eligible are brought in via a process called humanitarian parole. Travel is paid for, they can bring relatives and also live and work in the U.S. for three years on a renewable status.
BIDEN PARDON FOR SIMPLE MARIJUANA POSSESSION WON’T APPLY TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
In his statement, Mayorkas pledged that the Family Reunification Task Force’s work would continue.
“The Task Force, through its partners, also continues to identify and engage families who were separated to ensure they are aware of the reunification process and the support the Task Force has arranged,” he said. “This support includes critically needed behavioral health services to assist the families in addressing the trauma they have suffered.”

Meanwhile, a lawsuit is still ongoing as illegal immigrants who were separated sue the U.S. over the policy. A prior settlement, which would have dished out up to $450,000 per person, was abandoned after it was leaked and caused outraged from Republicans.

New McKinsey Technology Report Outlines Key Areas Of Opportunity For Media FIPP
New McKinsey Technology Report Outlines Key Areas Of Opportunity For Media – FIPP https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/new-mckinsey-technology-report-outlines-key-areas-of-opportunity-for-media-fipp/
08 October 2022
McKinsey’s 2022 Technology Trends Outlook report has now been published, and it cites some exciting areas of opportunity for the media industry. It found that the media and entertainment sectors at large display a high association with 7 out of 14 key technology trends, across what it defines as both the ‘Silicon Age’ and ‘Engineering Tomorrow’.
These include:
Advanced connectivity
Applied AI
Cloud and edge computing
Immersive-reality technologies
Industrialising machine learning
Trust architectures and digital identity
Web3
The areas of next generation software development, future of mobility, and future of sustainable development, were also cited by the report as displaying a strong association with the media of today – and tomorrow.
Leading the charge into the metaverse…
Immersive-reality technologies and the emergence of Web3 are two key trends that we’ve looked at a lot on the FIPP.com over the past few months.
Earlier this week, Hearst took over the OMNI Gallery in Soho, to launch its new experiential division HearstX. The department will oversee platforms and campaigns across the physical, VR, AR, and mixed experience spaces, with initiatives such as virtual influencers, VirtuELLE Reality fashion shoots, and a fully playable Cosmopolitan world already in place.
The McKinsey report states: ‘The ability to cater to increased data creation and the growth in the number of connected devices for consumers allow for better entertainment experiences as new devices (for example, AR and VR devices) enter the market.’
… and the practical application of NFTs
One emerging technology that has undoubtedly been hotly debated in the media industry to date, is NFTs. While some have dismissed the phenomenon as nothing more than a passing fad, we’ve seen countless examples of mainstream publishers moving into this area with seemingly high levels of success.
Having interviewed a broad range of experts in this area directly ourselves over the past 18 months, its clear that there is at least one broad consensus on non-fungibles: while today’s headline hype may not necessarily be here forever, the underlying technologies – and opportunities for digital monetisation they represent – are not going anywhere anytime soon.
It’s a reality that the latest McKinsey report underlines, from both a consumer and B2B pov:
‘Web3 enables interoperable games and tokenized digital assets,’ says the report, ‘facilitating new gaming experiences and play-and-earn business models in which in-game rewards (for example, nonfungible tokens [NFTs], governance tokens) are distributed with different utilities.’
‘Creation and ownership of digital media (for example, artworks, video content)—sold as NFTs—allow new business models and creative possibilities while providing artists with more control and, in some cases, ongoing perpetual royalties.
There are additional insights into streaming, personalisation, and the evolving nature of events, and you can access the report in full here.

Atlanta United’s Santiago Sosa Suspended 3 Games For Using Anti-Gay Slur – ESPN https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/atlanta-uniteds-santiago-sosa-suspended-3-games-for-using-anti-gay-slur-espn/
Atlanta United midfielder Santiago Sosa has been suspended for three games and issued an undisclosed fine after using an anti-gay slur in his team’s match against the New England Revolution on Oct. 1, MLS announced Saturday.
Sosa, 23, is also required to attend LGBTQ+ Allyship training through Athlete Ally.
“Atlanta United is aware of Santiago Sosa’s use of offensive language during last week’s match,” Atlanta United said in a statement. “The club does not condone the use of harmful or disrespectful language towards any person.
“Santiago is extremely remorseful and personally apologized to the New England Revolution player. He has also requested additional resources from Major League Soccer’s Players Association to grow from this incident.
“The club will ensure this moment serves as an opportunity to reaffirm Atlanta United’s deeply held values of inclusion, respect and unity to all of our players and staff.”
Sosa will miss Atlanta’s final game of the MLS regular season at home to New York City FC on Sunday as well as its first two games of the 2023 season. United have already being eliminated from playoff contention.
The Argentina youth international joined Atlanta ahead of the start of the 2021 season. He has made 47 MLS appearances for the 2018 MLS Cup winners, including 21 this season.
DeSantis Migrant Relocation Plan Records Raise Even More Questions Tallahassee Democrat
DeSantis’ Migrant Relocation Plan Records Raise Even More Questions – Tallahassee Democrat https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/desantis-migrant-relocation-plan-records-raise-even-more-questions-tallahassee-democrat/
TALLAHASSEE — When Gov. Ron DeSantis sent nearly 50 migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, last month, it appears to have gone against the program guidelines laid out in its bidding process, according to records obtained by the USA TODAY NETWORK – Florida.
The program was designed “to relocate out of the State of Florida foreign nationals who are not lawfully present in the United States,” according to the documents released by the governor’s office Friday evening after a public records request.
The records include a “request for quotes” document that the state used to locate bidding companies to take on the program. It too states that the unauthorized immigrants transported should be in Florida.
In the headlines:
DeSantis touts plan to ‘profile’ and divert migrants from Florida. Critics claim deception
Florida legislator sues DeSantis claiming illegal use of state funds for migrant relocation
The budget Florida passed this year also says the money is meant for in-state immigrants, a point that already has become the subject of litigation.
Soon after news broke of the Martha’s Vineyard flights, a Democratic Florida state senator filed suit to stop DeSantis from using more funds for the program.
In his 15-page lawsuit, filed last month in Leon County Circuit Court, state Sen. Jason Pizzo, D-Miami, in part alleges the DeSantis administration failed to meet the requirements set by the Florida Legislature to only transport unauthorized immigrants from within the state.
Named as defendants are DeSantis, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis and Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared W. Perdue.
“The state is completely violating the law,” Pizzo told NBC News. “They haven’t provided any scintilla of evidence for how this is legal.”
And that wasn’t the only legal fallout.
A federal class action lawsuit was filed in Boston on behalf of the migrants that accuses the DeSantis administration of deploying a “fraudulent and discriminatory scheme” to transport them.
And Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County, Texas, announced his agency had opened an investigation into how 48 Venezuelan migrants were “lured” to board flights from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard.
Back story: Texas sheriff investigating how migrants were ‘lured’ on flights DeSantis arranged
The migrants were picked up in Texas on Sept. 14. Two planes took off from San Antonio, Texas, then went to Bob Sikes Airport in Crestview, Florida. From there, one plane went to Spartanburg, South Carolina, and then to Martha’s Vineyard. The other plane went to Charlotte, North Carolina, and then to Martha’s Vineyard.
The governor’s office and FDOT did not respond to a Saturday morning media request.
DeSantis has contended that it’s more effective to intercept migrants at the Texas border than to track them down when they arrive in Florida as individuals or in small groups.
“If they get in a car with two other people, there’s no way we’re going to be able to detect that,” he said, adding: “Our view is you’ve got to deal with it at the source and, if they’re intending to come to Florida, and many of them are intending to come to Florida, [this is] our best way to make sure that they end up in a sanctuary jurisdiction.”
Other inconsistencies: A lack of notification that sent a community scrambling
The in-state guidelines weren’t the only inconsistencies the USA TODAY NETWORK -Florida found in the records.
The “request for quotes” documents clearly states it is the responsibility of FDOT to ensure partner agencies notify the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as local law enforcement “of the Unauthorized Alien’s destination and estimated arrival time.”
But, according to past reporting, local officials were blindsided by the arrival.
“Many don’t know where they are. They say they were told they would be given housing and jobs,” state Rep. Dylan Fernandes, D-Falmouth, tweeted shortly after their arrival. “Islanders were given no notice but are coming together as a community to support them.”
Price tag and response
The price tag for the Massachusetts flights was initially put at $615,000, but the latest state records show that Florida paid another $950,000 to the Vertol Systems Company, a Destin, Fla.-based aviation firm, bringing the total spent by taxpayers so far to more than $1.5 million.
More: Florida taxpayers paid $615,000 for DeSantis to fly Texas migrants to island
According to the Vertol agreement obtained by a public records request to FDOT, the company’s services should be on an “ongoing, month-to-month basis” until the end of June.
Before Hurricane Ian struck the state and sparked a massive relief effort, DeSantis said the transports would continue.
“There’s also going to be buses, and there will likely be more flights,” DeSantis said during a press conference in Daytona Beach in September.
The first “project” was to be the transportation services of up 50 passengers to Massachusetts at a cost of $615,000, Vertol Systems CEO James Montgomerie said in a memorandum dated Sept. 6. But Vertol offered a price range from $325,000 for up to eight passengers to $625,000 for up to 65 passengers.
The Miami Herald reported that Larry Keefe, who DeSantis appointed as the state’s “public safety czar” to oversee the governor’s anti-immigration programs, worked for Vertol Systems as legal counsel. The newspaper reported that he represented the firm in a dozen lawsuits between 2010 and 2017.
This past legislative session, lawmakers boosted an $8 million request by DeSantis for the program to $12 million, to be administered by FDOT.
The $12 million comes from interest earnings from Florida’s $8.8 billion portion of the Biden administration’s American Rescue Plan’s Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund. It provided $350 billion to state and local governments, which the U.S. Treasury said is “to support their response to and recovery from the COVID-19 public health emergency.”
Because the money is from interest, said Alexis Tsoukalas, a Florida Policy Institute policy analyst, it doesn’t fall under the same rules as the federal fund itself. Still, she said last month that the $12 million was “unfaithful to the spirit of the federal aid” and called it a “bizarre loophole.”
At a September news conference in Miami, DeSantis said his migrant relocation program is the “most effective” way to steer asylum seekers and other migrants away from Florida.
“I’ll tell you this, the Legislature gave me $12 million,” DeSantis said in September. “We’re going to spend every penny of that to make sure that we’re protecting the people of the state of Florida.”
The move angered Democrats, immigrant advocates and others who said the Republican governor was using migrants as “political pawns.” DeSantis said he took the action to call attention to President Biden’s “reckless” border security policies and steer undocumented immigrants away from Florida.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has bused thousands of immigrants to Democrat-led cities like New York City, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, according to PolitiFact. Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, a Republican, has also sent migrants to the nation’s capital.
In its public records response, the governor’s office said more records would be released at a later date.
Gun Girls made a go at the state bid
One of three quotes included in the records was from a Florida-based company called Gun Girls Inc.
That quote said for $26,000 the company would transport five people from Florida to Massachusetts, bringing along a bilingual officer as well as care packages, lunch, snacks and water for the passengers.
In a Saturday morning interview, the company’s president, Susan Kushlin, had only this to say to the USA TODAY NETWORK-Florida: “We were not involved in that at all.”
Kushlin told the Miami Herald and the Tampa Bay Times earlier, though, that she was bidding to transport via bus or commercial flights between five and 20 “illegal aliens” – who DeSantis administration officials said had committed “non-violent crimes.”
More: Controversy continues over DeSantis’ $12 million plan to transport undocumented migrants out of Florida
But even before boarding planes to Massachusetts, the migrants, according to their lawyers, were in the country legally because they were seeking political asylum and their cases were pending before immigration judges in various courts around the country. Most of the cases have since been transferred to the Boston area.
Kushlin said that her company couldn’t have pulled off the operation that happened.
“We transport prisoners by contract. That’s all we do,” Kushlin told the Miami Herald and the Tampa Bay Times. “We don’t do anything like what they did. That’s not our business.”
Kushlin told The Boston Globe she had been waiting several months to get definitive word on the bid. According to her bid, the transport was originally slated for the second week of August.

The 20 Best Places To Visit In Alaska – Moneyinc https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/the-20-best-places-to-visit-in-alaska-moneyinc/
Many people’s first associations with Alaska are extreme cold, gloomy skies, and mountains of powdery snow. However, Alaska is the place to go if you’re seeking adventure. In this enormous, rocky state, one can find some of North America’s most stunning and varied scenery. The state of Alaska is known for its untamed beauty, unique wildlife, and quaint beach communities, to name just a few attractions. This far-off paradise is a delight for those willing to travel there because many destinations are only reachable by plane or water.
Beautiful glaciers, a thriving Native American culture, and incredible vistas of the aurora borealis will be your reward. Aside from being the country’s largest state, Alaska also boasts stunning natural beauty, rare and fascinating fauna, and a rich cultural heritage that most Americans are unfamiliar with. So, here are the 20 best places to visit in Alaska.
20. The Northern Lights and Chena Hot Springs
A trip to Chena Hot Springs with the Northern Lights epitomizes what the Arctic is all about. Visitors on this exclusive tour have the chance to soak in Fairbanks’s soothing natural hot springs before setting out in a small group to search for the Northern Lights with a knowledgeable guide. Although the guides can’t promise it, traveling with an expert hunter gives you the best chance to see the Northern Lights! According to Via Travelers, this is one of the best spots to visit in Alaska because of the Northern Lights, which offer unparalleled beauty.
19. Homer
As the self-proclaimed “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World,” Homer offers some of the finest sportfishing in all of Alaska. The coal industry was the original impetus for the development of this charming community. There’s a good reason it’s regarded as one of Alaska’s top tourist destinations. Although sportfishing has made Homer famous worldwide, the city also offers various other exciting activities. Popular activities and attractions in Alaska include bear viewing tours, destination weddings, and kayaking. One of “America’s Best Small Art Towns,” the scenic location is renowned for its creative atmosphere. Visit one of the twelve exquisite art galleries in the Homer area.
18. Lake Clark National Park and Preserve
The stunning Lake Clark National Park and Preserve exhibits a variety of Alaskan landscapes all in one place. Lake Clark, 100 miles south of Anchorage, is surrounded by alpine tundras, glacier lakes, two volcanoes, and rushing rivers. The most recent eruption of the 10,000-foot Mountain Redoubt occurred only in 1989. Lake Clark can only be reached by air or sea, like other isolated regions of Alaska. A native brown bear hunting for salmon in one of the lakes can be seen from the air on a scenic bear flight between May and September.
17. Columbia Glacier
The Columbia glacier is easily accessible by boat from the Valdez harbor in Prince William Sound. The glacier’s thickness reaches 550 meters at its thickest, spreading across an area of 400 square kilometers. It starts in the Chugach Mountains and travels for 32 kilometers until arriving at Columbia Bay. Since 1982, this beautiful glacier’s retreat has been dramatic, with daily ice losses of 13 million tons. Some of the calving chunks are so large that they threaten the tourist boats that have come to see the event. The face of the glacier can reach heights of up to 400 feet. This would be such a treat for one to be part of.
16. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railway
The gold rush to the Klondike is an essential chapter in Alaska’s story. A remnant of the era is the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway. The Skagway–Fraser–Carcross–Whitehorse Narrow Gauge Railroad was initially constructed for the mining industry. According to Getting Stamped, passengers take in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape as they travel over trestles, tunnels, mountains, and glaciers. To ride the rails here is to have a one-of-a-kind encounter with the Alaskan landscape and engineering, as the railroad itself is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
15. Kenai Fjords National Park
In the vicinity of Seward, the Kenai Fjords region offers 607,000 acres of snow, ice, long fjords, calm bays, and coves. It also has a variety of animals, such as sea otters, black bears, harbor seals, mountain goats, and coyotes. The park’s main treasure, the enormous 936-square-mile Harding Icefield, lines the perimeter of the snow- and ice-covered 60 percent of the area. It sustains about 30 glaciers that flow from the mountains as a relic of the enormous ice sheet that once blanketed much of Alaska during the Pleistocene era. There are other activities such as camping, biking, kayaking, and flightseeing that one can participate in.
14. Nome
Nome was established in 1888 and was primarily a community for gold miners. Movie makers “liked” it here in this city to create movies. The full-length animated film “Balto” was inspired by the diphtheria outbreak in Nome in 1925. The most prestigious dog sled racing in the world, the Iditarod, is held in the city every year to honor the 1925 Great Race of Mercy. Nome is a challenging destination because of its frigid climate and distant location. However, it is among Alaska’s most stunning sites to visit!
13. Alaska Highway
The 1,500-mile-long, open Alaska Highway connects Delta Junction in Alaska with Dawson Creek in British Columbia. In just eight months, it was excavated from rock and dense forests. You will pass by the most beautiful natural reserves in Canada and the U.S. as you travel along Alaska Highway. Your drive will be spectacular as you get to appreciate nature as the journey continues.
12. Kennecott Ghost Town
The country’s wealthiest copper mining town at one time was Kennecott. It has less than a dozen regular residents today, leaving it virtually entirely deserted. Before the copper reserves were depleted, the copper mine had been operating for 27 years. Visitors can now explore the ghost town’s eerie silence in its stunning location deep within the Alaskan wilderness. You will have a magnificent hike as you get to this location, which can only be accessible on foot.
11. Glacier Bay National Park
The voyage may be difficult (there is no road access into or out of the park), but Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is so breathtaking that it is well worth it. West of Juneau, there is a national park that UNESCO has recognized as a World Heritage Site. According to Travel U.S. News, this is home to over 3 million acres of narrow fjords, temperate rainforest, and magnificent tidewater glaciers. Though you’ll most likely see Glacier Bay from the comfort of a cruise ship, you might want to explore going even closer to nature with a sea kayaking excursion and then spending the night in the stars in Bartlett Cove.
10. Wrangell St. Elias National Park
The huge Wrangell St. Elias National Park, which is the biggest national park in the U.S., is located in the center of this kingdom. While there are several educational tourist facilities and ranger stations within the park, it’s also simple to travel off the beaten path and discover glacier hiking paths or overnight camping excursions. In addition, there are activities like hunting, mountain biking, fishing, and kayaking.
9. Ketchikan
This picturesque village on the southern edge of Alaska’s Inside Passage is a great entry point into the Alaskan indigenous culture since it has more totem poles than any other place on earth. Explore the Misty Fjords National Monument after walking down historic Creek Street, which was once Ketchikan’s brothel quarter. This magnificent area of the Alaskan wilderness, covered in a thick rainforest, is best experienced from the air in a floatplane or on a boat excursion.
8. Skagway
The little town of Skagway, which draws over a million visitors annually, is a worthy stop on any itinerary for Alaska. The town’s central historic district is its main draw, with more than 100 different structures dating back to the Klondike Gold Rush era. According to Planet Ware, The neighboring Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Museum is another place where you may learn more about the town’s importance. This is a beautiful place for historical enthusiasts to spend their day.
7. Kodiak
Kodiak, the largest island in Alaska and the second-largest island in the United States, is home to several fascinating attractions, making it one of the top places to visit in Alaska. Kodiak Island, often referred to as the Emerald Isle, is home to many breathtakingly beautiful landscapes that draw hordes of nature lovers. As the ferries that travel the Alaskan Marine Highway dock just outside of downtown, Kodiak is a waterfront harbor town.
The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge encases two-thirds of Kodiak Island and is the area’s most well-known attraction. This park comprises two thousand eight hundred twelve square kilometers of diverse habitat. Mountain peaks, alpine meadows, ponds, spruce woods, and grasslands can all be seen on Kodiak Island. About 3,500 brown bears live in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, typically weighing between 800 and 1,500 pounds.
6. Seward
Seward, a picturesque port city, is situated in a prime location between Mount Marathon and the Gulf of Alaska. Seward is one of the most magnificent tourist destinations because of the contrast between the snow-capped mountains and the glistening rivers and glaciers. Two of the most well-liked activities in Seward are wildlife viewing and glacier cruises. Numerous indigenous animals, including sea lions, puffins, and even whales, call Resurrection Bay home. Tourists may explore this gorgeous city from above with flightseeing and helicopter tours.

Ghana, Ukraine To Deepen Cooperation In Trade – Ghana Business News https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/ghana-ukraine-to-deepen-cooperation-in-trade-ghana-business-news/
Shirley Ayorkor-Botchwey
Ghana and Ukraine have signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in trade and the training of diplomatic staff.
Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, signed for Ghana, while Mr Dmytro Kuleba, the visiting Ukrainian Foreign Minister, signed for his country.
Mr Kuleba is in Ghana to deliver a special message from the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Accompanying him is a business delegation, who would hold meetings with their Ghanaian counterparts and key government institutions, including the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre.
Prior to signing the MoU, the two ministers held discussions on issues of common interest, aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between Ghana and Ukraine, and the need for deepening of economic ties in the areas of trade, security and education.
The discussions also focused on Ghana’s active participation in deliberations on peace and security at the ECOWAS and the African Union, including efforts to resolve regional conflicts on the continent.
Madam Ayorkor Botchwey noted that the bilateral relations between the two nations dated back to August 1992, which had been strong on the political front and emphasised the need to strengthen trade and economic ties.
She recalled the visit to Ghana 4th April 2018 by the first ever Ukrainian Trade Mission, led by Mrs Nataliia Mykolska, a former Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Trade, which aimed at enhancing trade and economic relations.
She reiterated the need for a stronger collaboration in oil and gas, petrochemicals, and security.
Madam Botchwey underscored the role of state institutions in Ghana like Investment Promotion Centre, the Free Zones Authority, the Export Promotion Authority, and the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in promoting trade and investment.
She expressed the readiness of those institutions to collaborate with their Ukrainian counterparts to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) through the conducive business environment in Ghana.
She called for an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, which was impacting negatively on the economies of many countries across the globe, including Ghana.
Mr Kuleba, on his part, commended Ghana for supporting the Ukrainian people during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where the two countries were completely aligned on all major issues of international importance.
He said the statement: “Every bullet and every bomb fired at Ukraine is felt in Africa,” made by President Akufo-Addo at the UN General Assembly, was the clearest and the most eloquent statement, which reflected the global repercussions of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“We have to stop this war, we will by winning it, because we defend the right cause, the principle of sovereignty, the principle of territorial integrity of the nation”.
Mr Kuleba said Ukraine would soon be opening a full diplomatic mission in Accra.

Howard County Team Competes In National 4-H Food Challenge Finals – SWARK Today – SWARK Today https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/howard-county-team-competes-in-national-4-h-food-challenge-finals-swark-today-swark-today/
LITTLE ROCK — A team of Arkansas 4-H members celebrated National 4-H Week by competing in the National 4-H Food Challenge finals and returning home with a sixth-place win.
Adelene Westfall, Sarah Lamb, and Christian Trombley— competing as the “Seniors with Spatulas” — competed against 10 other teams from Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming at the competition, held Oct. 4 at the Texas State Fair in Dallas.
The Arkansas youth are members of the Howard County Teen Leader Club and longtime members of Arkansas 4-H. Westfall and Lamb, who attend Nashville High School, were part of the 2021 team that placed fifth at nationals last year. Trombley, a homeschooled student, joined the team this year. To qualify for the national competition, the teens won the Arkansas 4-H Food Challenge in August.
“I’m super proud of them,” said Howard County Extension Agent Jean Ince, who coached the team and accompanied them to the competition. “They have all been cooking for a long time and still they learned so much.”
Although they had hoped to win top honors, the trio felt good about their performance.
“Our dish was good, and we did a good presentation,” Lamb said.
“We knew so much more this year than last year,” Westfall added. “We felt really good going into their competition.”
The Food Challenge not only tests participants’ cooking skills, but also their knowledge about nutrition, health and food safety and their ability to effectively communicate as a team. During the competition, the teams had 40 minutes to prepare a dish using the main ingredient — which wasn’t unveiled until the start of the competition.
After plating their dish, teams had five minutes to present their dish to judges and discuss food preparation, safety concerns, serving size information, cost analysis and nutritional information. Judges considered appearance, quality, creativity, effective communication and teamwork when scoring.
For the past two months, the team has met weekly to practice their skills using different ingredients from the four groups: protein, grains, dairy, fruits and vegetables.
Mystery ingredients
White beans were the star of the preliminary round. The Arkansas team created a soup using the canned beans, chicken broth, shredded chicken, cheese, chives, cumin and salt and garnished with tomato. Judges liked their soup well enough to advance the team to the final round where they were tasked with cooking with fresh mushrooms. The team created a Mediterranean-inspired dish using couscous, mushrooms, feta and vegetables.
“I felt confident coming out of second round because we had worked with couscous and mushrooms before,” Westfall said. “We had previously made a recipe with eggplant and couscous, and when we saw there was couscous available, we swapped the eggplant for mushrooms.”
Division of labor
The teens spent the past few months practicing both their culinary skills and how to work as a team. Each had a defined role. Lamb — who her teammates call the ‘boss lady’ — took the lead in the recipe development and decided the menu with team input.
“My goal is always to have a bright, colorful, good-looking dish,” she said.
Lamb frequently cooks for her family, competes in BBQ competitions and hopes to own a bakery one day.
Trombley — the team’s ‘wingman’ — functioned as the sous chef, chopping and mincing ingredients, prepping the work space and ensuring food safety.
Westfall, a 4-H Ambassador and member of the state Healthy Living team, is considered the team’s scribe. She meticulously recorded the ingredients, proportions, nutritional content, serving size and notes needed for the team’s presentation to judges.
Skills for a lifetime
Healthy living is one of tenets of the 4-H program, which offers programs in nutrition, fitness, substance abuse, safety and social and emotional wellness.
“We strive to equip young people with healthy living knowledge and skills to physically, emotionally, and socially prepare them to meet today’s challenges,” said Amanda Welch, a 4-H youth development associate for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Welch coordinates the statewide 4-H Food Challenge.
Last year, Arkansas 4-H applied for and received a Healthy Habits grants from the National 4-H Council and Wal-Mart Foundation.
“Most of the grant money went to counties to use for healthy living programs,” Welch said. “Howard County used grant money to purchase cooking utensils and supplies required for the competition.”
The teens all said they enjoyed the experience. For Trombley, it was because of the “friendship and teamwork.” Lamb said she is more comfortable with public speaking because of the competition, and Westfall, who memorized nutritional value of foods for the competition, said that information will continue to help her.
“I’ve learned so much about our bodies and what they need to function that I never would’ve thought about before this challenge,” Westfall said. “It’s taught me a lot that I can use to improve my health and my family’s.”

Bowling Green Vs. Buffalo Live Updates Score Results Highlights For Saturdays NCAA Football Game CBS Sports
Bowling Green Vs. Buffalo Live Updates Score, Results, Highlights, For Saturday’s NCAA Football Game – CBS Sports https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/bowling-green-vs-buffalo-live-updates-score-results-highlights-for-saturdays-ncaa-football-game-cbs-sports/
The Buffalo Bulls and the Bowling Green Falcons will face off in a Mid-American clash at noon ET Oct. 8 at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. If the game is anything like Bowling Green’s 56-44 win from their previous meeting in October of last year, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
Even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, the Bulls beat the Miami (OH) RedHawks 24-20 last week. No one had a standout game offensively for Buffalo, but they got scores from RB Mike Washington and WR Justin Marshall. Buffalo’s victory came on a 15-yard TD pass from QB Cole Snyder to Marshall with only 0:36 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Speaking of close games: last week Bowling Green sidestepped the Akron Zips for a 31-28 win. The squad ran away with 24 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory. Bowling Green QB Matt McDonald was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 247 yards on 29 attempts.
This next matchup is expected to be close, with Buffalo going off at just a 2-point favorite. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.
The wins brought the Bulls up to 2-3 and the Falcons to 2-3. Buffalo is 1-0 after wins this season, Bowling Green 0-1.

India Releases 50-Page CBDC Report Good Or Bad For The Countrys Crypto? Bitcoinist
India Releases 50-Page CBDC Report – Good Or Bad For The Country’s Crypto? – Bitcoinist https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/india-releases-50-page-cbdc-report-good-or-bad-for-the-countrys-crypto-bitcoinist/
The CBDC report published by India’s central bank may not be good news for the Indian cryptocurrency market.
Crypto was such a hit in India in 2021 that it made the country the fastest growing market for the asset class, surpassing the MENA region and even Europe.
At one point, the country’s market jumped by 641% in just 12 months and was projected to surge even more.
But everything changed in April this year as the government of India started to tighten its grip on crypto, imposing tax on transactions involving the asset which led to the collapse of local exchanges.
Some thought this might have something to do with the nation’s plan to eventually have its own CBDC.
Country officials said the move was made to provide a window for the formalization of cryptocurrencies but what it accomplished so far is to make crypto trading in India insanely expensive.
But it turns out, the country is just starting to pound on digital assets and the Reserve Bank of India might just deliver the finishing blow.
Reserve Bank of India Eyes CBDC
It is no secret that the Reserve Bank of India has been eyeing to launch a project for its CBDC – a development which has now been confirmed by the bank’s FinTech Department report released on October 7.
Both retail and wholesale variants of the CBDC is being considered by the financial institution for consumers and businesses as well as interbank and wholesale transfers.
The report provided an insight as to how the process will unfold, starting with the building of the currency by technological partners selected by a working group.
Once the CBDC is ready, it will be tested in a sandbox environment and will be exposed to stressful situations. The functionality and overall design of the digital currency will be assessed.
If the designed CBDC passes all the testing, a pilot release will then follow.
An Apparent Aversion To Cryptocurrencies
For the development of both retail and wholesale variant of the CBDC, the RBI is making sure it can properly identify its owners or holders, much like the physical fiat money.
This move seems to attack one of the selling points and advantages of digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, among many others – privacy.
Moreover, as the government recently imposed hefty taxes on crypto transactions in India, people there will be put into a position to instinctively choose the CBDC in order to avoid the taxes.
“It is the responsibility of central bank to provide its citizens with a risk-free CBDC which will provide the users the same experience of dealing in currency in digital form, without any risks associated with private cryptocurrencies,” the RBI said in quotes by Reuters.
India might not have made the move to ban cryptocurrencies altogether, but the CBDC report might be an indication that the country is slowly shutting the door on digital currencies not issued by its government.

US Soccer President Tells CNN More Misconduct Cases Reported The Washington Post
US Soccer President Tells CNN More Misconduct Cases Reported – The Washington Post https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/us-soccer-president-tells-cnn-more-misconduct-cases-reported-the-washington-post/
The U.S. Soccer Federation received three new reports of misconduct in the sport this week after details of systemic emotional abuse and sexual misconduct in the National Women’s Soccer League were revealed in an independent investigation, U.S. Soccer Federation President Cindy Parlow Cone told CNN.
Parlow Cone was interviewed twice Friday by the television network and didn’t provide details of the new misconduct cases. She said the U.S. Center for SafeSport and other authorities have been made aware of the three new reports.
“I’m also hoping that people do feel safe now to come forward or are … learning about where to come forward to report this because this is so important,” Parlow Cone told CNN. “We’re not going to be able to root it out unless more brave people come forward to tell us.”
Five of 10 NWSL coaches either were fired or stepped down last season amid allegations of misconduct.
More than 200 people were interviewed by investigators looking into the allegations of harassment and sexual coercion and abuse. The NWSL, U.S. Soccer, teams and individuals provided documents. The independent investigation, run by former acting U.S. Attorney General Sally Q. Yates and the law firm King & Spaulding, focused on three former coaches: Paul Riley, with the Portland Thorns and later the North Carolina Courage, Christy Holly of Racing Louisville and Rory Dames of the Chicago Red Stars.
On Wednesday, the Portland Thorns dismissed a pair of team executives a day after owner Merritt Paulson removed himself from a decision-making role with the team. Chicago Red Stars owner Arnim Whisler also stepped back from his role, and Racing Louisville President James O’Connor apologized to fans and a former player who alleged she was sexually abused by Holly.
On Friday, England and the U.S. women’s teams played a friendly before nearly 77,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. They wore teal armbands in solidarity with sexual abuse victims and together held a banner that read “Protect the Players” just before kickoff.
The Yates report made numerous recommendations to prioritize player health and safety. U.S. Soccer also said it would immediately implement programs to protect players.

Elon Musk’s Phone Reveals Entourage Of Overzealous Tech Bros – News-Daily.com https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/elon-musks-phone-reveals-entourage-of-overzealous-tech-bros-news-daily-com/
Texts between the billionaire and some of his tech investor friends show them in a bad light.
In Musk v. Twitter, an aspect of the business life of the richest man in the world is revealed.
Private messages exchanged within his inner circle immerse us into his process when he conceives an idea.
Stacker curated a list of the 100 worst horror films of all time, which we calculated using a combination of IMDb and Metacritic data from September 2022. Click for more.
The messages were released by the Delaware Chancery Court as part of the proceedings between the two parties.
The revelation of these private messages is undoubtedly one of the reasons which led the billionaire to put back on the table his offer to acquire the platform for $44 billion. And to demand that Twitter (TWTR) – Get Twitter Inc. Report drop its legal action in exchange.
You can read them here.
Here are messages Musk exchanged with his tech bros about Twitter.
Some precisions for the good comprehension of some messages: Parag Agrawal is the CEO of Twitter. Morgan Stanley is the bank advising Musk, while Jared Birchall is an adviser to the billionaire.
SVP refers to Special Purpose vehicles.
David Sacks, co-Founder of PayPal, General Partner of Venture Capital Firm Craft Ventures
On April 26, the day after the Twitter deal was announced, Sacks communicated with Musk.
Sacks: Justin Amash (former congressman who’s libertarian and good on free speech) asked for an intro to you. “I believe I can be helpful to twitter’s team going forward – thinking about how to handle speech and moderation, how that intersects with ideas about governance, how to navigate actual government (including future threats to Section 230), etc. – and I’d love to connect with Elon if he’s interested in connecting (I don’t have a direct way to contact him). I believe my experience and experience can be useful, and my general outlook aligns with his stated goals. Thanks. All the best.” Please LMK if you want to connect with him.
Musk: I don’t own Twitter yet.
Sacks: Understood.
Then on April 28:
Musk: Do you and/or find want to invest in the take private?
Musk: fund
Sacks: Yes but I don’t have a vehicle for it (Craft is venture) so either I need to set up an SPV or just do it personally. If the latter, my amount would be mice-nuts in relative terms but I would be happy to participate to support the cause.
Musk: Up to you
Sacks: Ok cool, let me know.
Sacks: I’m in personally and will raise an SPV too if that works for you.
Musk: Sure
Joe Lonsdale, co-Founder of Palantir Technologies, 8VC
On March 24, almost two weeks before Musk revealed that he had become the top shareholder of Twitter, Lonsdale wrote to him.
Lonsdale: I love your ‘Twitter algorithm should be open source’ tweet – I’m actually speaking to over 100 members of congress tomorrow at the GOP policy retreat and this is one of the ideas I’m pushing for reigning in crazy big tech. Now I can cite you so I’ll sound less crazy myself:). Our public squares need to not have arbitrary sketchy censorship.
Musk: Absolutely
Musk: What we have right now is hidden corruption!
On April 4, Lonsdale writes to Musk congratulating him after his Twitter stake was revealed.
Lonsdale: Excited to see the stake in Twitter – awesome. “Back door man” they are saying haha. Hope you’re able to influence it. I bet you the board doesn’t even get full reporting or see any report of the censorship decisions and little cabals going on there but they should – the lefties on the board likely want plausible deniability.
On April 16:
Lonsdale: Haha even Governor DeSantis just called me just now with ideas how to help you and outraged at that board and saying the public is rooting for you. Let me know if you or somebody on your side wants to chat w him. Would be fun to see you if you guys are around this weekend or the next few days.
Musk: Haha cool
Jason Calacanis, Angel Investor, Podcaster.
On April 14, when Musk made his bid to acquire Twitter for $44 billion at $54.20 per share, Calacanis seems to be mocking the company for being hesitant.
Calacanis: You should raise your offer
Calacanis: $54.21
Calacanis: The perfect counter
Calacanis: You could easily clean up bots and spam and make the service viable for many more users – Removing bots and spam is a lot less complicated than what the Tesla self driving team is doing (based on hearing the last edge case meeting)
Calacanis: And why should blue check marks be limited to the elite, press and celebrities? How is that democratic?
On April 15,
Calacanis: Back of the enveloppe… Twitter revenue per employee: $5B rev/8k employees =$625K rev
Per employee in 2021 Google revenue per employee: $257B rev /135K employee =$1.9M
Per employee in 2021 Apple revenue per employee: $365 rev /154k employees = $2.37 M per employee in fiscal 2021
Calacanis: Twitter revenue per employee if 3k instead of 8k: $5B rev/ 3k employees= $1.66m rev per employee in 2021 (more industry standard)
Musk: Insane potential for improvement
Calacanis: Day zero
Calacanis: Sharpen your blades boys
Calacanis: 2 day a week Office requirement = 20% voluntary departures
Calacanis: I mean, the product road map is beyond obviously
Calacanis: Premium feature abound … and twitter blue has exactly zero
Calacanis: What committee came up with the list of dog shit features in Blue?!? It’s worth paying to turn it off
Musk: Yeah, what an insane piece of shit!
Calacanis: Maybe we don’t talk twitter on twitter DM
Musk: Was just thinking that haha
Musk: Nothing said there so far is anything different from what I said publicly
On April 16:
Musk: Btw, Parag is still on a ten day vacation in Hawaii
Calacanis: No reason to cut short … in your first tour as ceo
Calacanis: (!!!)
Calacanis: Shouldn’t he be in a war room right now?!?
Musk: Does doing occasional zoom calls while drinking fruity cocktails at the Four Seasons count?
Calacanis and Musk will exchange a lot in the days that will follow.
On May 13, Musk writes to Calacanis:
Musk: What’s going on with you marketing and SPV to randos? This is not ok.
Calacanis: Not randos, I have the largest angel syndicate and that’s how I invest. We’re done 250+ deals like this and we know all the folks. I though (t) that was how folks were doing it.
Calacanis: $100m+ on commitments, but if that not ok it’s fine. Just wanted to support this effort.
Calacanis: ~300 QPs and 200 accredited investors said they would do it. It’s not an open process obviously, only folks already in our syndicate.
Calacanis: There is *massive* demand to support your effort btw … people really want to see you win.
Musk: Morgan Stanley and Jared think you are using our friendship not in a good way
Musk: This makes it seem like I’m desperate.
Musk: Please stop
Calacanis: Only ever want to support you.
Calacanis: Clearly you’re not desperate – you have the worlds greatest investors voting in support of a deal you already have covered. You’re overfunded. Will quietly cancel it… And to be clear, I’m not out actively soliciting folks. These are our exiting LPs not rondos. Sorry for any trouble.
Musk: Morgan Stanley and Jared are very upset.
The conversation goes.
Calacanis: And you know I’m ride or die brother – I’d jump on a grande for you.

Steve Jurvetson, Tesla and SpaceX Investor.
On April 29, Jurvetson sends a link to a LinkedIn profile to Musk.
Jurvetson: If you are looking for someone to run the Twitter revamping … perhaps as some kind of CXO under you … Emil Michael is a friend that just offered that idea. Genevieve loved working for him at Klout. He went on to become Chief Business Officer of Uber for 2013-17.
Musk: I don’t have a LinkedIn account
Musk: I don’t think we will have any CXO titles
Jurvetson: OK. Are you looking to hire anyone, or do you plan to run it?
Jurvetson: This is his experience prior to Uber.
Musk: Please send me anyone who actually writes good software
Jurvetson: Ok, no management; good coders, got it.
Musk: Yes
Musk: Twitter is a software company (or should be)=
Jurvetson: Yes. My son at Reddit and some other young people come to mind. I was thinking about who is going to manage the software people (to prioritize and hit deadlines), and I guess that’s you.
Musk: I will oversee software development.
Antonio Gracias, Venture Capitalist and Shareholder of Tesla.
On March 5, a month before Musk as a Twitter shareholder was made official, Gracias wrote to the billionaire.
Gracias: Wow… I saw your tweet re free speech. Wtf is going on Elon…
Musk: EU passed a law banning Russia Today and several other Russian news sources. We have been told to block their IP address.
Musk: Actually, I find their news quite entertaining
Musk: Lot of bullshit, but some good points too
Gracias: This is fucking nuts… you are totally right. ! 100% agree with you.
Gracias: We should allow it precisely bc we hate it… that is the ping of the American constitution.
Musk: Exactly
Musk: Free speech matters most when it’s someone you hate spouting what you think is bullshit
Gracias: I am 100% with you Elon. To the fucking mattresses no matter what … this is a principle we need to fucking defend with our lives or we are lost to the darkness.

A woman was killed and another injured after more than 100 rounds were fired into a home in the 11400 block of Bald Mountain in western Bexar County just after midnight Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022.

SAN ANTONIO — Three more teens have been charged in connection with last week’s deadly Bald Mountain drive-by shooting that turned a neighborhood into a “war zone,” the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday.
The teenage males — 17, 15 and 14 years old — were arrested Friday and charged them with deadly conduct with a firearm, a third-degree felony.
Two other boys, 14 and 15 years old, were arrested last week and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Tuesday’s drive-by shooting of a home in the 11400 block of Bald Mountain in western Bexar County.
On ExpressNews.com: Two boys, 14 and 15 years old, charged with murder in Bald Mountain drive-by shooting
“The blatant disregard for human life displayed by these two groups turned a quiet suburban neighborhood into a war zone and led to two innocent young women being shot, with one losing her life,” Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a news release.
More than 100 rounds were fired into the home about 12:40 a.m., killing Novita Kurnia Putri, 25, who was working late in her home at the time of the shooting. Putri died from a gunshot wound to the head. The sheriff’s office has said her home was not the teens’ intended target.
A 41-year-old Airbnb guest at the home sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated and released from a hospital.
On ExpressNews.com: Medical examiner identifies woman killed in drive-by shooting
Deputies patrolling the area responded to two series of gunshots several minutes apart, pursued a fleeing car and arrested the two boys early Tuesday.
The investigation into the shooting led to the latest charges.
Each of the three teens arrested Friday are accused of firing a gun that night, “striking multiple residences, causing property damage,” according to the news release.
Bail has been set at $40,000 for the 17-year-old.

Exercise: How, what and how much?
The role of exercise in health is undisputed, but how, when and how much is very important; especially in heart disease. Exercise paired with a healthy diet and avoiding smoking is a simple measure of heart health. In some cases, exercise can be as powerful as medicine.1
Exercise helps heart health in the following ways:1
Reduces blood pressure
Ensures healthy body weight
Strengthens muscles
Improves the circulation of blood in the body, reducing the load on the heart
Stops or delays the development of diabetes
Decreases risk of stroke, blood clots
Lowers bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol
Reduces stress, making you feel good
Decreases inflammation which affects several body systems
However, pushing too hard is a bad idea. Research shows that exercising more than the recommended guidelines can lead to major health issues.3 Besides, the exercise regimen should be carefully chosen based on your health and physical conditions. Therefore, consult a doctor/physical trainer before you start an exercise routine.
Exercise, how?
First thing is to make a start and get more active. Choose an activity that you enjoy. Ensure you wear comfortable clothes and footwear. Schedule exercise in your daily timetable. Exercise with your friends and family. Maintain an exercise log and track progress. Do not exercise when you are sick or for a few days following sickness – give time for your body to recover.2
Exercise, what?
Anything that makes you move and burn calories is exercise. It could be as simple as doing household work or climbing stairs. However, aerobic (or “cardio”) activity puts your heart and lungs at work and improves your fitness. The following table gives you a list of different types of aerobic exercises one can do (again, you need to talk to your doctor before starting any).4
Exercise, how much?
About 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise are recommended for healthy living. Moderate exercise for 30 min a day for 5 days a week is often sufficient to achieve optimal health benefits. Vigorous exercise can be limited to just 3 days a week as there are chances of injury.2
Exercise slowly for the first five minutes; it helps the heart rate increase gradually, the body to loosen and increases blood flow to muscles. Then perform your exercise routine, and at the end, cool down for 5 min to allow your heart rate to come back to resting levels and temperature to normal. Ensure you are well hydrated.
During the initial days, start with low-intensity exercise and then gradually increase the intensity as your body starts accepting and adjusting to the exercise. Also, increase the duration of exercise gradually.
Red flags
Stop exercising when you have chest pain; heaviness in the chest; fatigue; neck, upper back and jaw pain; and light-headedness or dizziness. Also, ensure your surroundings are safe.

Fourth down
Fourth downs haven’t been kind to LSU so far in this game, and now it’s the Tigers’ defense facing a big one as the Volunteers call timeout to discuss a fourth-and-2 from LSU’s 43. Tigers just came up with a huge sack from Greg Brooks Jr. on third down, but the Vols were lucky that Hooker’s fumble on the play was scooped up by running back Dylan Sampson, who ran it for a gain of two yards.

Another blunder
LSU’s offense is moving the football pretty well, but the Tigers can’t stop hurting themselves once they get in position to score. Jayden Daniels just took a sack that pushed the Tigers out of field goal range and into a fourth-and-12. Even an incompletion there would have made going for it somewhat practical. Instead, it leads to a punt that results in a touchback. Volunteers get it back leading 20-0.

Garrett Dellinger down
LSU is already without its starting left tackle today and just had another offensive lineman, Garrett Dellinger, helped off the field. The Tigers are struggling in the run game as it is and may be challenged even more depending on the severity of Dellinger’s issue.

Momentum swing
LSU is now 0-for-2 on fourth-down conversion attempts after the Vols stuff a fourth-and-1 run attempt near midfield. Nowhere to go for Josh Williams, and the Volunteers IMMEDIATELY strike. What a momentum swing as Hendon Hooker hits Jaylin Hyatt down the left sideline for a 45-yard touchdown strike to make it 20-0. Hyatt showed serious speed on that one. LSU is in deep trouble here.

First quarter
Tennessee leads 13-0 entering the second quarter, but LSU should feel good about where it stands — all things considered. The Tigers had just about everything go wrong that possibly could but are on the cusp of being down just 13-7 if they can finish this promising drive with a touchdown. Seems like they are going out of their way to get Kayshon Boutte involved.

Another field goal
Give the LSU defense credit, because the Tigers have now forced consecutive field goals. It’s 13-0 Tennessee now after a 68-yard drive that stalled out on the edge of the red zone. Tigers are fortunate to be down just two possessions after almost everything that has gone wrong for them at this point.

Massive stand
Kayshon Boutte reached the football out to try and reach the sticks on a fourth-and-4 play, but he was ruled down short of the marker and a replay confirmed the call. Tigers had a chip shot field goal in the bag, but Brian Kelly opted to go for it. The gamble backfires and Tennessee takes over leading 10-0.

Nice drive
LSU convers a third-and-13 to keep its second drive of the game alive. Tigers in Tennessee territory and gaining some confidence here as the Volunteers take a timeout to avoid being penalized for having too many men on the field. PTSD for Tennessee fans reflecting on the 2010 loss at Tiger Stadium.

Nice stand
LSU’s defense holds after another special teams disaster, forcing a 35-yard Tennessee field goal. 10-0 Vols, but that’s nice a boost for the Tigers after a horrific start. Vols had a second-and-2 but were stuffed on consecutive running plays. Looked like Josh Heupel considered going for it before opting for the FG.

Boutte drop
Jayden Daniels unleashed a missile over the middle toward Kayshon Boutte on third-and-3, but Boutte couldn’t bring it down. Throw was slightly behind him, but still a ball that you would expect a projected first-rounder to catch. Dee Williams returns the punt 58 yards, setting the Vols up with another short field.

Touchdown Tennessee
The Volunteers surge ahead 7-0 on a 1-yard touchdown run from Jabari Small, his fifth of the season. Took just five plays for Tennessee to go 27 yards after the fumbled kickoff on the opening play. Credit for this one goes to reserve defensive back Will Brooks, who made a coordinated play on the fumbled football to recover it along the sideline. You could rep kickoffs 10,000 times in practice and never have one like that. Good play from a special teams player.

First play
LSU fumbled the opening kickoff and Tennessee fell on it. What a disaster start for the Tigers. It was a short kick down the sideline. The returner tried to field it on the run, failed to do so and the Tennessee player did a nice job of falling on the football before it went out of bounds.

Here we go
About set for kickoff of the first Tennessee vs. LSU game played in Baton Rouge since 2010. A lot has changed for both programs since then. The Volunteers haven’t been ranked any higher than they are now since 2006. LSU’s seen some really high highs, but the Tigers also bottomed out last year and have a new coach in Brian Kelly. Winner all the sudden looks like a national player.

Hyperspace Defines The Future Of Identity In The Metaverse With 3D Avatars – Digital Journal https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/hyperspace-defines-the-future-of-identity-in-the-metaverse-with-3d-avatars-digital-journal/
Phoenix, Arizona, United States, 8th Oct 2022, King NewsWire, Hyperspace, an intuitive, drag-and-drop “no code” metaverse platform, is shaping the future of identity in the metaverse with 3D avatars. The user-friendly Hyperspace platform uses a proprietary technology called Universal Avatars to power their 3D avatars and users’ metaverse identities that can be used throughout various virtual worlds and websites. Universal Avatars are optimized to perform at scale so thousands of Avatars can visit the same virtual places.
The system, which does not require any specific device or software download, allows users to sign in using an email and password, a LinkedIn account, or what’s known in enterprise, government and education as – SSO (single sign-on) option. This means that users can sign in with credentials from their organization with their identity attached to their avatar, allowing them to take that avatar to meetings, a series of virtual events from different organizations, immersive training experiences, or anywhere else within the metaverse. The avatars can also be used for AI chatbots and customer service support purposes.
Hyperspace avatars are completely customizable, with over one billion style combinations. Users can choose their avatar’s physical appearance, clothing, movement, embodiment, and lifelike gestures and expressions. The customizable 3D avatars help create a sense of co-presence, which allows for shared experiences that can lead to a sense of community, and belonging. Lifelike gestures and postures such as hugs, high-fives, and handshakes that accompany the 3D avatar help with self-expression and allow more meaningful engagement beyond simple emojis.
“As virtual worlds become more popular, there has been a lot of discussion about what type of identity to use in these virtual spaces. In a continuously increasing digital world, we’re craving connection and personality. We want to see people in a real-life context. It’s meaningful—and that’s exactly what 3D avatars offer. They allow your audience to completely immerse themselves in your world. And it all starts with customizations, options to personalize it and make it truly their own. Hyperspace has created a form of identity expression in the metaverse unlike any other,” stated Danny Stefanic, CEO of Hyperspace.
“Using Universal Avatars, you can take your identity everywhere, across experiences. I believe that is really important for creating a truly interconnected metaverse that allows your digital twin to seamlessly interact with people, places and things in the virtual realm. These unique, customizable 3D Avatars can be used to fully enhance presence within the metaverse, especially during virtual events, learning and development training, meet-ups, support and sales, and even medical and patient care,” added Stefanic.
Hyperspace gives metaverse users the ability to accelerate their business into the metaverse and drive deeper connections through shared immersive experiences. The intuitive platform can be used for events, training, marketing, or remote work. The Universal Avatars will allow users to fully take charge of their identities when in the metaverse and customize their Avatar with job specific clothing options, hair, makeup, and more. With the 3D avatars from Hyperspace, metaverse users can take digital communication and identity to the next level with the ability to convey verbal and nonverbal communication with their digital twins.A high degree of customizability allows attendees to create 3D avatars representing who they are and how they self-identify.

Guide To Customize IOS 16 Home And Lock Screen Wallpaper Gadgets To Use
Guide To Customize IOS 16 Home And Lock Screen Wallpaper – Gadgets To Use https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/guide-to-customize-ios-16-home-and-lock-screen-wallpaper-gadgets-to-use/
Apple’s latest iOS release has brought in a variety of new elements including popular custom wallpapers, that changes the look and feel of your iPhone. It also offers cool customizations like font styles, depth effects, and widgets. Today in this read, we’ll help you understand iOS 16 wallpapers with ease and customize the lock screen and home screen as per your taste. You can also refer to our guide on how to get iOS 16 lock screen on Android, to enjoy this with your Android (Green bubble) friends.
Guide to iOS 16 Custom Wallpaper on Home and Lock Screen
Below we have shared the complete guide to help you customize each element of the lock screen and home screen wallpaper on your iPhone running iOS 16.
In-built Wallpapers on iOS 16
iOS 16 offers a variety of in-built wallpapers. These wallpapers are customizable within themselves and offer plenty of cool features to fiddle around with. Here’s how you can customize it:
1. Long tap or hold the lock screen, to see an array of wallpapers.
2. Tap the + icon from the bottom right to choose a new wallpaper.
3. Here you can choose from multiple wallpapers. Some wallpapers offer effects like the weather wallpaper offers dynamic effects based on location and time of the day. Wallpapers from Collections and Astronomy are some of my favorites.
4. Now, tap on your favorite wallpaper to customize it.
5. Alternatively, you can also access wallpapers from Settings Wallpaper Add New Wallpaper.
Set Custom Wallpapers on iOS 16
iOS 16 offers you to add multiple lock screens, at once, allowing you to toggle them based on your mood and vibe. So If you would like to add an image from your last trip, or a picture of your loved one, instead of using the in-built wallpaper, it can be done as follow.
1. Long press the lock screen and tap the plus (+) icon, now click on the Photos tab from the top left corner.
2. Now, choose the picture you want to use as wallpaper and proceed to customize it. Once down, tap on Add to save the changes.
If your photo has a different aspect ratio or is smaller than the screen size, you can follow our article to fit a square photo on the iOS 16 lock screen.
Customizing iOS 16 Wallpaper – Custom Fonts
Once you have applied the wallpaper on your iPhone’s lock screen running iOS 16, you can customize it further with your favorite font and color. Here’s how.
1. Go to the lock screen UI, and tap on Customize.
2. Now, tap the Clock on the lock screen.
3. A new pop-up will come up with a variety of different font styles and colors to choose from.
4. Choose your favorite font and adjust its colors according to your preference.
Add Custom Widgets on iOS 16
With iOS 16, Apple has introduced widgets, to add a more personal touch to your iPhone directly from the lock screen. Here’s how to add widgets on the iOS 16 lock screen.
1. Tap on Add Widgets box, just below the clock and time on the lock screen.
2. Now, you can add up to four widgets from in-built widgets and add a custom widget for apps like Fitness, Snapchat, etc.
3. Once you have added your favorite widgets tap the cross button to close the tab.
4. You can also tap the calendar widget to customize and swap it with options like stocks, fitness, etc.
Apply Wallpaper Filters
While you get multiple font options for the clock, do you know that you can also add filters to your chosen iOS 16 lock screen wallpaper? Here’s how it can be done:
1. Swipe Left or Right while on the customization screen, to reveal and change the filters.
2. Now, you can pick the one that makes your wallpaper stand out.
Currently, the iOS 16 lock screen supports four filters, namely Natural, Black and White, and Duo-Tone. More filters are expected to come in future software builds.
Add Depth Effect to iOS 16 Lock Screen
The Depth Effect on the iOS 16 lock screen is probably the most talked about feature and for good reasons. It magically sets the wallpaper on top of the time and clock of your lock screen to give a three-dimensional look. This is indeed magical because you do not need a portrait mode shot to achieve it. The phone itself is capable of recognizing, and mapping out the subject in the image, to put the time/clock behind it. Here’s how to use it:
1. Go to the customization screen.
2. Tap the three-dots icon from the bottom right of the screen.
3. Tap on Depth Effect to enable it.
It has its limitations (like it only works on iPhones with an A12 Bionic chip and above) but works well on almost all wallpapers with a prominent subject – and it looks great!
Note: For some wallpapers, you might need to manually adjust it, by pinch zoom for the depth effect to work properly.
Home Screen Customizations on iOS 16
Once you have customized your iOS 16 lock screen, a prompt will ask you to either make it a home screen and lock screen pair or manually Customize your Home Screen. If you choose to manually customize your home screen, there are plenty of options to choose from. While they are not as extensive as the lock screen but are sufficient for a fresh new look.
1. After customizing the lock screen, tap on Done.
2. Tap on Customize Home Screen, from the pop-up menu.
3. Now you can choose to keep it original, apply a solid color, a gradient of colors, or even set a photo.
4. You can also set a Blur background if you happen to choose the lock screen wallpaper or set a picture from the gallery.
Bonus: Quick Switch Between Customized Wallpapers
Naturally, after making so many customizations, you might wish to save these for the future so that you can experiment with other wallpapers, without disturbing your current set of personalization. Thankfully, we now have an option to do so. Much like the Apple Watch, iOS 16 allows you to save multiple customized wallpaper sets and quickly access them.
1. Long hold on the Lock Screen.
2. Swipe left or right to access the wallpapers sets you have personalized so far.
3. Tap a wallpaper to quickly apply it – it’s that simple!
4. You can tap the plus (+) icon located on the bottom right, to add more Wallpapers.
Wrapping Up
So this was all about the iOS 16 wallpaper, and how you can customize the lock screen and home screen according to your preference. US Soccer President Tells CNN More Misconduct Cases Reported Yahoo Sports
US Soccer President Tells CNN More Misconduct Cases Reported – Yahoo Sports https://bexarcountynewsonline.com/us-soccer-president-tells-cnn-more-misconduct-cases-reported-yahoo-sports/
