You should be able to see your reflection in the piece before ever applying DURALUMEN. A high shine gloss black basecoat has proven to work well, but you can experiment with other colors of high gloss basecoat to achieve brighter/other color end results. We recommend using DURALUMEN TUFF for projects with lacquer basecoats. Q. Is DURALUMEN toxic? A. DURALUMEN is a solvent-based coating. This means that all standard safety precautions should be followed when spraying and storing it. It is highly flammable and must be kept and used in a spark and flame free environment.
