Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention education
AdventHealth will present the Healing Power of Mindfulness: Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at Atlantic Center for the Arts Main Campus, 1414 Art Center Ave., New Smyrna Beach.
The two-hour event will feature physician speakers, practicing mindfulness activities through meditation and expressive writing, a healthy dinner and refreshments.

Tools to Quit Tobacco class
A free Tools to Quit Tobacco class will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at SMA Healthcare Clinic, 420 Stadium Road, Daytona Beach.

Art Connects ALZ
Art Connects ALZ at The Hub on Canal will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon each Wednesday in September at 132 Canal St., New Smyrna Beach.
In partnership with The Alzheimer’s Foundation, the art program is designed for people experiencing early-stage Alzheimer’s or dementia. No art experience is necessary.

Covid vaccinations at health department
The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County offers the three approved Covid-19 vaccines.

PCR testing is by appointment only for symptomatic individuals and those who have been exposed to Covid-19.

West Volusia Covid-19 testing site
Volusia County Government, the Florida Department of Health and cities have contracted with a private company to open a testing site.
Nomi Health is at Dewey O. Boster Park, 1200 Saxon Blvd., Deltona, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday with a walk-up, outdoor site.

Patients will be asked about health insurance, but those without it will not be turned away. Masks and social distancing are required.

Covid-19 testing at City Gym
The City of New Smyrna Beach in partnership with Nomi Health has a Covid-19 testing site at the City Gym at 1000 Live Oak St.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The site will offer both PCR and antigen tests with a 24- to 48-hour turnaround for PCR tests and one-hour turnaround for antigen tests.
Individuals in need of a test are asked to bring an insurance card. If no insurance, they will not be turned away. Appointments are not required, but participants may pre-register by visiting nomihealth.com/fl.
Covid-19 testing will be suspended Monday, Sept. 12, to Friday, Sept. 16, to facilitate upgrades to the building’s fire prevention system.
Caregiver Support Group
An education and support group designed to provide emotional, educational and social support to people caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia meets at 10:30 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month at Aberdeen, 50 Allwood Green Blvd., Ormond Beach.

Curative’s testing site at 105 Jackie Robinson Parkway (City Island) is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Appointments are required at curative.com or call (888) 702-9042. Tests are free, but patients will be asked for health insurance information. Results can be expected within 48 hours.
Understanding birth and newborn care
Halifax Health hosts a four-week series to help prepare mothers for the labor and delivery process.
