Crypto Corner: The Sports Slice | Bitcoinist.com – Bitcoinist https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/crypto-corner-the-sports-slice-bitcoinist-com-bitcoinist-2/ We’re back with The Sports Slice to take a bite into all things sports and crypto. Some of the latest headlines over the past week include the upcoming launch of LaLiga’s new NFT platform, a college quarterback’s new NFT NIL deal, and a crypto jersey patch deal cut unexpectedly short. Let’s dive into all of the past week’s crypto and sports activity. The Sports Slice New Zealand Rugby Buys World Of Women Galaxy NFTs New Zealand’s commercial arm of rugby and national team representative New Zealand Rugby made a hefty purchase of 33 World Of Women Galaxy NFTs this past week; the move is the team’s first NFT purchase, courtesy of some assistance with MoonPay – who is not an official declared partner of the team. Fans on the team’s official Reddit outlet were unenthused. LaLiga’s Digital Collectible’s First Platform Drop Is Slated For Later This Month ‘LaLiga Golazos,’ the long-awaited NFT product courtesy of Dapper Labs and the powerhouse soccer league, is set to debut in coming weeks. October 27th is slated as release day (paired with it’s initial first drop), and will feature some of the league’s biggest moments since 2005. The platform is expected to mirror the experience seen in Dapper’s other products, Top Shot and NFL All Day. A College Quarterback’s $1M NFT NIL Deal Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is approaching $4M in NIL deals, courtesy of a new $1M NFT NIL deal established this past week with Metabilia. Over half the U.S. states have now established some sort of formalized NIL policy as universities look to find new avenues to recruit athletes, and athletes look at new avenues of compensation. Ewers and Metabilia will launch a collaborative NFT project that will require a subscription fee to access drops and signed memorabilia. NIL territory is still very young for new platforms and projects to explore, and crypto and web3 firms haven’t shied away from doing so thus far. Dapper Labs (FLOW) is set to release it's latest product courtesy of a league-wide deal with European soccer monster, LaLiga. | Source: FLOW-USD on TradingView.com Athlete-Backed & Avalanche-Powered ‘MynaSwap’ Raises $6M NFL stars including Kyler Murray and Odell Beckham Jr. were a part of a recent fundraise for Avalanche blockchain-based sneaker trading platform, MynaSwap. The raise, totaling $6M, will go towards building out the digital collectibles platform that provides digital authentification for physical goods. The platform is founded by Adeel Shams, co-founder of sneaker shop Coolkicks (which has become an LA staple in the sneakerhead community). Crypto.com Reportedly Turning Down The Dial On Sports Partnerships Crypto.com is reportedly cutting back on sports sponsorship engagements as the exchange likely faces increased budgetary constraints in the bear market. While the exact scope is unknown, reports emerged in recent days that Crypto.com was looking to cut scope with sports partners such as the World Cup and Twitch Rivals. The exchange was once a leading force in sports sponsorships and is now likely seeing a major shift in spending as the bear market has persisted throughout this year. MoonPay’s First Sports Foray One name we haven’t mentioned in the Slice‘s history is MoonPay. Check that box this week as the crypto exchange secured it’s first-ever sports deal with Brazilian soccer club Flamengo. The two will look to have MoonPay lead the charge on a variety of NFT engagement, including ticketing, loyalty programs, and more. Trail Blazers Cut StormX Jersey Patch Deal The NBA’s first crypto jersey patch deal was established in the middle of last year, and despite being a multi-year deal that was established between the Portland Trail Blazers and young platform StormX, it’s coming to a quiet and unexpected close. StormX has largely underperformed in the broader crypto marketplace, and despite signing an athlete endorsement deal with former Blazer CJ McCollum back in November, the exchange is rarely mentioned when top crypto exchanges are discussed. The club’s reasoning behind cutting the partner, who’s jersey patch was featured in media day content in recent weeks, was undisclosed. We’ll see where Portland turns to next for a patch deal, after donning a BioFreeze patch prior to the StormX deal. The Blazers join the Grizzlies and Wizards among clubs currently searching for a jersey patch partner. Chinese Tech Shares Tumble After U.S. Publishes New Export Rules – Reuters https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/chinese-tech-shares-tumble-after-u-s-publishes-new-export-rules-reuters/ People stand in front of a sign of Alibaba Group during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, following the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, in Shanghai, China, September 1, 2022. REUTERS/Aly Song SHANGHAI, Oct 10 (Reuters) – Shares in Chinese tech giants Alibaba Group (9988.HK) and Tencent (0700.HK) as well as in chipmakers slumped on Monday, following the latest U.S. crackdown on China’s chipmaking industry to slow Beijing’s technological and military advances. The Biden administration published a sweeping set of export controls on Friday, including a measure to cut China off from certain semiconductor chips made anywhere in the world with U.S. equipment. The rules include blocking shipments of a broad array of chips for use in Chinese supercomputing systems that nations around the world rely on to develop nuclear weapons and other military technologies. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Some industry experts say the ban could also hit commercial data centers at Chinese tech giants. Shares in Alibaba and Tencent dropped 3.3% and 1.7%, respectively, by 0258 GMT on Monday. An index measuring China’s semiconductor firms (.CSIH30184) tumbled nearly 6%, and Shanghai’s tech-focused board STAR Market (.STAR50) declined 3.6%. The raft of measures could amount to the biggest shift in U.S. policy toward shipping technology to China since the 1990s. If effective, they could hobble China’s chip manufacturing industry by forcing American and foreign companies that use U.S. technology to cut off support for some of China’s leading factories and chip designers. China’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) (0981.HK) dropped 3.8%, NAURA Technology Group Co (002371.SZ) sank 10% by the daily limit, and Hua Hong Semiconductor Ltd (1347.HK) plunged 9.5%. Citi analysts said in a note that the U.S. restrictions could make development of China’s advanced chip technologies even more challenging. “(But) they should increase Chinese semiconductor companies’ propensity to purchase domestic equipment, especially for mature technology nodes, due to supply-chain security,” the note said. Bob Beck, Bismarck Radio Icon Passes On. Let Us Salute Bob! – Cool 98.7 https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/bob-beck-bismarck-radio-icon-passes-on-let-us-salute-bob-cool-98-7/ Bob Beck is a friend of mine. Most likely if you met him he’s a friend of yours as well. It seems unlikely any person would have so many friends. So comment and share and salute your friend and mine- Bob Beck. Robert Beck, 80, Mandan, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at a local hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4-6 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at DaWise Perry 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan, ND.   There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. I don’t know the circumstance of Bob’s death, I just know I was lucky to know him. I started working with Bob in 2001 at Cool 98.7. It was oldies then and Bob reveled in it. He was a DJ.  A Wolfman Jack kinda DJ and oldies flipped his switch. Cool would put on sock hops and people would limbo and love would abound. I’m not kidding when I say that. Love was in the air. Because Bob Beck wasn’t larger than life. He was right next to you having a good time. Good Time Oldies they were called and Cool 98.7 was the last radio stop on a Pioneer Award winner’s long stretch of stops. Much of Bismarck/Mandan first met Bob during his decade-plus stretch at Y-93.  How influential is Mr. Beck in the Bismarck/Mandan community?  This is from the KYYY Wikipedia page.  KYYY tweaked to a satellite-delivered hot AC format in 1996 and dumped morning man Bob Beck, who had been heard on the station for 14 years.[6] Ratings dropped nearly 50 percent That was a long time ago. When times changed. Bob went back in time on Cool 98.7 and continued to flourish. I’m proud to have played in his playground. He was a DJ. A really good DJ. Also a stubborn sonuvabitch.  God bless ya Bob! Now let’s hear from our mutual friends. Origin Of North Dakota City Names Volume 1 Great shots of rural America. Best Travel Fishing Rods 2022 Buyers Guide Wired2Fish
Best Travel Fishing Rods 2022 Buyers Guide Wired2Fish
Best Travel Fishing Rods – 2022 Buyer’s Guide – Wired2Fish https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/best-travel-fishing-rods-2022-buyers-guide-wired2fish/ Choosing the best travel fishing rods for anglers who like to pack light and carry a fishing rod in their luggage on every where they travel requires a little planning and knowledge of the options and fish you think you might encounter on your travels. We reviewed a wide gamut of rods and came up with a lot of options to consider as well as some great recommendations for which fishing rods we would suggest for a lot of different types of fishing and travel. Things like size of the rod when disassembled, number of pieces, rod case, roll or bag, type of rod, how you will transport it, whether a telescoping rod makes sense and more need to be considered before choosing the best travel rod for your fishing plans.  Travel rods usually come in 2-piece up to 5-piece options not to mention the telescoping travel rod options out there. You might want to fit the rod in a suitcase, if so more pieces will break down into a smaller footprint. Or you might carry it with you which might give you more options for rods. You might want a hard case to protect the rod if you’re worried about TSA or some other party damaging your rods in transit. Or a rod wrap may suffice if it’s tucked inside of another hard case suitcase or thrown in your fishing kayak. You might need to consider how you will transport your spinning reels and baitcasting reels. (1 of 20) Know Your Travel Rods Then there are the types of rod to consider including spinning travel rods, casting travel rods, telescoping travel rods as well as travel fly rods or specialty rods like travel swimbait rods or travel trout or panfish rods. Or any combination of the aforementioned.  If you plan to fish with light lures and light line, then a spinning travel rod might be the best option. If you plan to look for big bluegills or crappies specifically on your travels, then a long telescoping rod might make more sense or a small spinning rod like a trout rod might give you a lot of options for trout and panfish. If you’re going for larger quarry, you will want a beefier rod that has a reel that can hold heavier line. Usually a baitcasting travel rod makes sense for bass, or big fish like walleye, pike, musky, stripers, etc.  Specialty rods like travel swimbait rods or extra long jigging rods might be just the ticket for probing unknown waters for specific types of fishing like jigging brush for crappie or casting oversized swimbaits for trophy bass and stripers.  Of course if you’re in to fly fishing, then a travel fly rod is hard to beat. There are some super high end and middle of the road options that are great rods that make a 9-foot fly rod fit into an over night travel bag with the travel fly rod option. CONSIDER TELESCOPING RODS FOR TRAVEL For some, a telescoping rod is an easy spur of the moment travel rod option to probe some nearby waters to see if they have fish available. I have buddies that keep telescoping rods in their trucks at all times and will break it out on their travels or while taking a lunch or after work on a work trip. It’s a quick and simple option. Most of time telescoping rods are a bit lower quality. Or at least that was the case back when the only option was a low end push button spin cast combo for small panfish. There are, however, some newer options bringing this back as a real viable option for bass and panfish. (2 of 20) A Travel Combo Might Make More Sense You can buy travel rods that are a rod and reel combo. This is often the case with telescoping options. But there are some better quality options in the multi-piece travel rods with a decent spinning reel. Most of the time. I want the best rod I can get and a good reel in my bag so I’m not fighting my equipment in the limited amount of time I get to fish on my travels. Especially those spur-of-the-moment unplanned fishing trips while traveling.  But when you get to a location and wished you had a rod and reel, a decent priced telescoping rod/reel combo can get you in the fish on an unexpected hot spot quickly and easily. (3 of 20) You Need a Travel Rod Case, Bag or Roll Anymore your travel rod is going to come in a hard case, a roll or a bag. Regardless you need to take care to protect the pieces of the rod or the rod while it is compartmentalized so it’s not damaged in your travels.  A hard case might be a cloth case with a hard shell inside of it that zips closed on the end and the multiple pieces slide into little sleeves inside of it. Or it might be a hard outer shell with a soft interior that keeps your guides and blank parts protected. These are nice when you plan to carry your travel rods separate from your luggage. Or keep them in a vehicle on your travels. A travel rod roll is just a cloth sleeve with individual pockets for each piece of the blank and then you roll it up with flap that closes on one end and tie it off with the attached ties. These can be nice for putting a rod or two into your other travel bags or a small compartment in your vehicle. A travel bag can be just a cloth bag or a padded foam bag that houses and protects the rod simultaneously. I’m a fan of these as they keep your pieces from falling out as sometimes happens with rolls. And they keep the blank pieces with a bit of added protection. The padded bags are ideal in my opinion.  (4 of 20) Best Travel Rod Brands In the freshwater space, the best travel rod makers are often synonymous with the best rod makers. Makers like Daiwa, Shimano, St. Croix, Megabass, Ark Rods, Fenwick, and others have really solid travel rod options. Others that many don’t know offer travel rods have good options like Favorite, Bass Pro, and BnM Poles.  Here are the travel rod brands we reviewed and liked: Shimano Daiwa St. Croix Megabass Ark Rods Fenwick Sixgill Bass Pro Favorite Fishing B’n’M Poles Ugly Stik Hardy Orvis Having said all that, let’s take a closer look at some of our personal favorites in various travel rod categories. (5 of 20) Best Telescoping Travel Combo Daiwa Travel Combo We chose the Daiwa Travel Combo as the best combo because it comes with a good reel, telescoping rod that is better than most and it’s own sling carry bag that is big enough to put several travel rods and reels in. This combo compacts down to 26 inches making it a perfect option for any trip whether it be in a car or a plane. The rod is a 7-foot, 2-inch Medium power fast action rod. It’s a solid rod and stayed extended as we fished with it. The reel is a 2-bearing Daiwa Crossfire LT 2500. Even though it’s only 2 bearings, it performed very smoothly and effortlessly with a very smooth drag. It’s a solid spinning combo and it’s offered in EVA or Cork grips. The combo costs $149 but if you just want a good combo without messing around with pairing rods and reels, this is a quick easy choice. Buy at TackleWarehouse (6 of 20) Best Travel Rod for Bass Shimano Zodias Travel Rod The fact that Shimano took one of their best rod lines and converted it into a high-end bass travel rod got me excited. And when I got the new rod in my hand, I was very impressed. I am a big fan of the original Zodias line and was so excited to see this level of quality in a 5-piece travel rod.  This travel rod condenses down to 19 inches when packed, meaning you can literally take it anywhere. And when full assembled you have a very high quality rod full of all the features of the high end one-piece blanks. The 5-piece construction gives the rod more uniform bend than a 2-piece model would.  It has so much power and a steady consistent load when casting. You will forget it’s a travel rod by your second cast. It’s a high end rod that just happens to be in 5 pieces. It has a CI4+ reel seat for lightweight strength and a full carbon monocoque grip which eliminates the use of EVA giving a light rod more sensitivity. Hi-Power X construction which makes the blanks outermost layer wrapped with carbon tape form that X appearance on the blank that gives more precise actions to the rods with more strength.  You can really lean into fish with this rod without worry. It’s one of the nicest travel rods we’ve tested. Buy from Omnia (7 of 20) Runner Up: Daiwa Ardito Travel Rod This is another high-end rod that has been brought down to a travel rod form factor. This rod comes with a very nice hard case and it breaks down to 30 inches (32 in its case). It features a V-flex ferrule joint system. These ferrules don’t require you to jam the rod pieces all the way together and then struggle to separate them. You simply push them until they snug together and you are all set. You can break down and put the rod together in seconds and be fishing as fast as you can thread your line.  The rod has a high-modulus blank, Fuji Aluminum Oxide guides, unsanded micro-pitch blank, split Eva grip and machined nut hood. It’s a high quality rod that pairs nicely with your favorite bait caster. It comes in 7-foot medium, 7-foot medium heavy and 7-foot, 6-inch medium heavy. Buy at TackleWarehouse (8 of 20) Best All-Around / Saltwater Travel Rod St. Croix Avid Trek rod This is a finely crafted American rod with incredible blanks offering uniform performance, strength and ultra-perceptive sensitivity. The premium cork full grip, and quality blanks featuring St. Croix’s IPC mandrels, SCII high modulus carbon, slim profile ART ferrules, Sea Guide Hero hi-grade guides with zirconia rings and stainless gun smoke frames, sea guide hook keeper, and a 15-year-transferable warranty.  This rod can literally do it all. Going to Louisiana to fish the marshes for bass and redfish, this is your rod. Strong, light, smooth, sensitive and easy to pack. The 3-piece rod is 6-foot, 6-inch MH rod with a lot of power but great castability. This rod is a joy to fish with and you can expect it to last a long time with that kind ...

CSIRO R&D Program Tackles Growing Threat Of Cyber Attacks Facing Australian Businesses Tech Business News
CSIRO R&D Program Tackles Growing Threat Of Cyber Attacks Facing Australian Businesses Tech Business News
CSIRO R&D Program Tackles Growing Threat Of Cyber Attacks Facing Australian Businesses – Tech Business News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/csiro-rd-program-tackles-growing-threat-of-cyber-attacks-facing-australian-businesses-tech-business-news/ The CSIRO R&D program is helping to address the growing threat of cyber attacks in Australia by providing free research and development services to businesses in the cyber security industry. CSIRO is offering a free, 10-week online Innovate to Grow programme to support small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) working on new cyber security solutions with research and development expertise. Participants may receive support from CSIRO after completing the program, to connect with research expertise across the country, along with dollar-matched R&D funding. CSIRO’s Data 61 Group Leader Surya Nepal says cyber security attacks were a growing threat across the world impacting many different types of sectors. “Cybercriminals are always looking for ways to perpetrate cybercrimes, which can have serious consequences for businesses and consumers.” says Dr Nepal. Australian Cyber Security Centre, an annual increase of 13 per cent of reports of cybercrime in the 2020-21 financial year has been observed. CSIRO’s SME Connect Deputy Director George Feast says to stay ahead of these, new solutions are required. According to Dr Feast, a lot of this can be driven by SMEs – who make up 99.8% of all Australian businesses – developing new cyber products and services powered by R&D. “Through our Innovate to Grow program, we invite participants to come with a specific cyber security commercial idea they’d like to explore.” “However, R&D can be an expensive undertaking for businesses and risky for those without the right guidance and support.” “Much of this can be driven by SMEs – who make up 99.8 per cent of all businesses in Australia – developing new cyber products and services powered by R&D,” says Dr Feast. Over 10 weeks we’ll step businesses through how to refine their idea, to understand its research viability, and begin engaging a university or research institution to deliver a collaborative R&D project,” he said. CSIRO research released last year found that collaboration is essential for driving strong R&D outcomes, but only 15% of Australian businesses engage universities or research institutions for innovation activities. Dr Feast says, “Our goal is to up that percentage,” Through Data61, CSIRO’s data and digital specialist arm, businesses will gain access to CSIRO’s cyber security expertise. In addition, industry knowledge will be available, innovation experts will speak, and R&D mentors will assist with research and development. Rezilens Operations Project Manager Corey Fraser, whose company helps make enterprise-level cybersecurity both affordable and accessible to Australian SMEs, completed the Innovate to Grow: Cyber Security program earlier this year. According to Mr Fraser this was essentially the first opportunity to pursue formal R&D, as we’re still fairly young – just under two years in operation “What was really appealing for us through this program was the exposure to academics and NGOs in the security space, along with the associated benefit of learning from their industry expertise. And finding out about how we could access potential funding opportunities.” “I’d recommend this program for other start-ups who typically lack the capital and time to pursue these sorts of activities. “Having the experience coordinated by CSIRO really aided in the structure and consistency of the program, and the lack of associated costs was a huge plus as well,” says Mr Fraser. Companies that provide online services in fields like health and agriculture can work directly in cyber security or other industries that offer online solutions and desire to boost cyber security aspects of their services. The CSIRO Innovate to Grow: Cyber Security programme begins December 1st and is accessible to 20-25 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The programme will pause over Christmas and New Year. Applications must be submitted by November 7th: https://www.csiro.au/Cyber-Security. The Australian Government Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources provides funding for the program through the Cyber Security Skills Partnership Innovation Fund. Today’s metaverses could possibly be the level-up of the Internet with features that we need but don’t realize yet.  PandaMR’s metaverse is a web- and mobile-based platform. Right now, there are four main directions that the company is concentrating on: Business, Art, Education and Entertainment. The goal is to provide an adequate environment for each of these industries and develop tools that are necessary for these industries to stay in the Metaverse for a long time.  PandaMR positions itself as the “guide” for businesses to navigate through the Metaverse.   In the dedicated “Business Bay,” companies can organize onboarding and hiring processes, have internal meetings, plan corporate gatherings, hold conferences, and more. Thus, companies can stay one step ahead of the competition with little effort thanks to their future-proof investment in the metaverse experience. The “Education Hub” enables educational entities to establish virtual learning environments for engaging sessions.  For creative people, in just a few easy steps, the Art District provides artists with every chance to display their works.  “Many companies and individuals have heard about Metaverse, nevertheless most of them need additional guidance to make their first steps into the digital realm. We do the hard work of educating businesses and communities on how to get value from using metaverse solutions, and we do this with great enthusiasm and creativity,” said Vahe Khachatryan, Commercial Director at PandaMR. One may find an abundance of complex currencies which could be overwhelming. The NFT market and cryptocurrency sectors will be an option for PandaMR, with a lot of emphasis on diversifying payment methods and smoothing user experience. PandaMR extends a warm welcome to all newcomers and asks partners and metaverse aficionados to join efforts to build a Metaverse community that will be the driving engine for developing virtual solutions. Mad Money’s Jim Cramer Wants Crypto Investors To Bet Against Him — ‘I Have Done This For 42 Years’ – Featured Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/mad-moneys-jim-cramer-wants-crypto-investors-to-bet-against-him-i-have-done-this-for-42-years-featured-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/ The host of Mad Money, Jim Cramer, has challenged crypto investors to bet against him. “You do not do this for 42 years and lose money every year,” he said. His statement followed a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for “Inverse Cramer ETF.” Jim Cramer to Crypto Investors: Bet Against Me The host of CNBC’s Mad Money show, Jim Cramer, challenged cryptocurrency investors to bet against him in a tweet Friday. Cramer is a former hedge fund manager who co-founded Thestreet.com, a financial news and literacy website. While discussing the Advanced Micro Devices stock (Nasdaq: AMD), he wrote: “As always I welcome people betting against me. I have done this for 42 years. Those who know me know that you would have been betting against Apple at $5, Google since inception, Meta at $18, Amazon at $10, Nvidia at $25, and AMD at $5. I welcome all comers.” Cramer then followed up with another tweet about crypto. Noting that he bought a farm with his bitcoin profits and a boat with ether gains, the Mad Money host proceeded to challenge crypto investors: “I want you to bet against me. You do not do this for 42 years and lose money every year.” Many people have been attacking Cramer for making recommendations that resulted in losing trades. Last year, he praised Ark Investment Management CEO Cathie Wood just before her flagship fund plummeted. He also tweeted a buy recommendation for AMC Entertainment Holdings just before the stock plunged 30%. The Mad Money host also said in April last year: “We like Coinbase to $475.” At the time of writing, Coinbase Global (Nasdaq: COIN) is trading at $67. ‘Inverse Cramer ETF’ Prospectus Filed With SEC Cramer’s tweets followed a prospectus filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) by Tuttle Capital Management for two exchange-traded funds (ETFs) — Inverse Cramer ETF and Long Cramer ETF. The filing explains: The Inverse Cramer ETF (the ‘Fund’) seeks to provide investments results that are approximately the opposite of, before fees and expenses, the results of the investments recommended by television personality Jim Cramer. Tuttle Capital Management also previously launched an ETF betting against Cathie Wood’s stock picks. Cramer became a fan of bitcoin in 2020 after he spoke with crypto investor and entrepreneur Anthony Pompliano, who convinced him to buy some BTC. The Mad Money host then began advising investors to put 5% of their portfolios in bitcoin. However, concerns over the Chinese bitcoin mining crackdown, ransomware attacks, and tether (USDT) made him dump his BTC for ether in June last year. A few months later, he begged crypto investors to take profits. In October, he said he invested in crypto because “there could be millions of greater fools out there.” In June this year, he said bitcoin could fall to $12,000 and in August, he recommended avoiding crypto and other speculative investments altogether. Haiti Activists Rally At White House Seeking End Of U.S. Support For Henry – Reuters.com https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/haiti-activists-rally-at-white-house-seeking-end-of-u-s-support-for-henry-reuters-com/ A woman holds a sign at a rally outside the White House asking the Biden administration to stop supporting Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry, in Washington, U.S. October 9, 2022 in this picture obtained by Reuters. Gordon Whitman/via REUTERS Oct 9 (Reuters) – Activists on Sunday rallied at the White House to call on the Biden administration to end support for the government of Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry, as the Caribbean nation faces a humanitarian crisis due to gangs blocking the distribution of fuel. Haiti’s dire situation has gotten increased attention from around the world in recent weeks as severe fuel shortages have forced many businesses and hospitals to shut their doors, just as health authorities confirmed a surprise cholera outbreak. A broadcast of the rally showed several hundred people gathered outside the White House, holding signs bearing Haiti’s flag or with messages including “Let Haitians decide their own future.” Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com “Many Haitians are convinced that the United States is actively sustaining Henry in power,” said a statement prepared for the rally by U.S. Representative Maxine Waters, who was not present. “The repression in Haiti must stop.” Henry, who has run the country since shortly after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise last year, last week asked for military assistance to confront gangs. He has said he is seeking to hold new elections as soon as possible. Many in Haiti say that rampant violence by armed gangs, which control vast portions of the country’s territory, make a vote impossible under the current conditions. The Biden administration has not signaled that it plans to change its stance with respect to Henry. “There has been a lot of misunderstanding and distorted information about the current Government, in testimony before Congress and in lawmakers’ letters circulating on the internet,” said an advisor to Henry when consulted about the rally. “We invite Haitian citizens, wherever they are, to unite our energies to make Haiti a great country instead of repeating defamation found on the internet.” U.S. Representative Val Demings last week introduced the Haiti Criminal Collusion Transparency Act of 2022, which calls for a new federal investigation into those who support Haitian gangs. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has proposed that one or several countries send “a rapid action force” to help Haiti’s police, without suggesting that the force be deployed by the United Nations. read more Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Reporting by Brian Ellsworth in Miami; editing by Diane Craft Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.

Digital Divide Reveals Tech Disparities Along Racial Lines In Westchester – The Examiner News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/digital-divide-reveals-tech-disparities-along-racial-lines-in-westchester-the-examiner-news/ Westchester Children’s Association Executive Director Allison Lake addressed local politicians, students, and representatives from various organizations in the county at an Oct. 4 news conference that addressed the digital divide at Pace University in Pleasantville. Low-income communities in Westchester, particularly people of color, are disproportionately harmed by having far less broadband access, a newly-published survey revealed. The Westchester Children’s Association (WCA) partnered with Pace University to produce the “Digital Access Survey: Perceptions of Parents in K-12 Schools in Westchester County, New York.” The results were released at an Oct. 4 news conference hosted by Pace University in Pleasantville. The survey was conducted both online and in person, tapping into community partners such as libraries, youth bureaus, family medical centers, and other organizations. The survey asked how many students and families had access to electronic devices and internet options, possessed digital literacy, engaged in digital communication, and had experiences with remote learning. Using a wide variety of demographics, there were 511 responses from Westchester parents and guardians. Nearly three-quarters of respondents – 73 percent – completed the survey in English and 27 percent in Spanish. The survey identifies a need for digital literacy training for families and students with English as a second language. Glaring disparities in digital access surfaced during the pandemic when students needed online access for remote learning. “Today we have lessons learned from the pandemic,” WCA Executive Director Allison Lake said as she addressed elected officials, students, and organizational directors filling the multipurpose room at the Kessel Student Center. “The genie is not going back in the bottle, and there is work we have to do to include digital equity access and inclusion for all Westchester residents,” Lake added. Raphael Ceara said he never owned or knew how to operate a computer until he took a class at the STEM Alliance, a Larchmont nonprofit organization that teaches STEM subjects and basic computer and technology skills. “I learned simple things like getting e-mail and how to attach documents,” Ceara said. “I am very appreciative of the class.” The WCA/Pace survey, authored by Sydney Moraitis, a graduate student working on her master’s in public administration, and Dr. Gina Scutelnicu-Todoran, a Pace associate professor, revealed that 31 percent of the respondents believed technology made their child’s learning more difficult and 27 percent experienced stress due to technology at least once a week. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest data, almost 25,000 households in Westchester County have no internet service, and nearly 14 percent of people making $75,000 or less do not have an internet subscription. The WCA/Pace survey found that 54 percent of participants spent between $50 and $99.99 per month on internet access. “We know there are almost 90,000 low-income people here in Westchester County, and of those that completed the survey, only 1 percent knew about government-funded affordability programs for digital access,” Lake said. “We know that there is federal and state funding coming down the pike, and we want to position Westchester to be ready to take advantage of the new funding and the supports that are there.” Lake said the newly-formed Digital Inclusion Coalition, which consists of the WCA, Pace, the STEM Alliance, and the Westchester Library Association, will be asking county officials to provide $125,000 in the 2023 Westchester County budget to establish a leadership position at the county level for digital equity, inclusion, and access. “That person would support the coalition that has already been started and help plan a county-wide digital equity summit to have more people at the table,” she said. Attending the news conference were county legislators MaryJane Shimsky (D-Dobbs Ferry) and Colin Smith (D-Peekskill) and staff members representing County Legislator Chris Johnson (D-Yonkers) and Assemblyman Chris Burdick (D-Bedford). “This is one of the most critical things we are doing right now,” Shimsky said. “It’s very hard to look for a job or do a job without access to the internet or to see how well your children are doing at school without the internet. Increasingly the digital divide is what defines the rich from the poor.”

Elden Rings Absolution Feature Should Be Reprised In Future FromSoftware Games GameRant
Elden Rings Absolution Feature Should Be Reprised In Future FromSoftware Games GameRant
Elden Ring’s Absolution Feature Should Be Reprised In Future FromSoftware Games – GameRant https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/elden-rings-absolution-feature-should-be-reprised-in-future-fromsoftware-games-gamerant/ Elden Ring is overwhelmingly saturated with features in its grand open world. There are many locations, characters, and mechanics that players may never discover in a handful of unique playthroughs. Then, only by looking online thereafter may they learn about Elden Ring’s clandestine and unintuitive questlines. This is standard of each FromSoftware game, where community discoveries are co-dependently followed in order to have a more fulfilling experience in later playthroughs. One such feature in Elden Ring that players may not know much about on their own is absolution. Absolution is a feature that some players may not even need if they are warily precarious around any NPC. But if an NPC becomes hostile for one reason or another, such as if players accidentally take a swipe at them, players can be absolved of this hostility. This also works with reviving certain NPCs, but to be clear, it will not revive every single NPC, and thus players still need to exercise caution in their playthroughs. Still, it is a fantastic feature allowing players to absolve some of their mistakes or choices, and future FromSoftware games would be generously considerate if they reprised it. Elden Ring’s Absolution is a Fun Gameplay Do-Over Maybe the most prominent purpose of absolution is to have an NPC back to their normal self in order to sell their wares again. Players may have accidentally made an NPC hostile, such as if they were to attack Elden Ring’s Patches while unprovoked after the Murkwater Cave ambush in Limgrave. He may well deserve the player’s wrath, but he also has predetermined locations where he will appear afterward and sell items to the player if kept alive. Killing him cuts out a ton of content involving his character, such as having him be summonable to no avail during the Starscourge Radahn boss fight. But like many NPCs, killing him then and there results in an instant reward of loot that players would have had to endure hours of optional questline to procure otherwise. In Patches’ case as well, keeping the NPC alive means players miss out on loot. Therefore, there are a number of different reasons why players might choose to kill or spare any NPC. To put it in perspective, Rennala’s stat reallocation mechanic is similar because it allows players to alter the course of their playthrough without severe course correction, and all players need to do is spend a unique resource. In order to reallocate stats, Rennala asks for Larval Tears. But for absolution, players must atone by delivering Celestial Dew to the Lady Rennala statue in Liurnia’s Church of Vows. FromSoftware Games Can Be Purposefully Unforgiving Bloodborne is a wonderful example of how FromSoftware’s NPCs can be morally ambiguous and seemingly untrustworthy. There are characters whom players may initially stereotype as being mischievous due to their behavior or demeanor, but are actually well-meaning and kind. On the other hand, there are characters who seem stereotypically ordinary, but are intentionally misleading and wish to lure the player to harm. Not having the option to redo an interaction where an NPC becomes hostile is unfortunate, but also helps Bloodborne’s unforgiving tone and atmosphere feel consequential and meaningful. It makes sense in a game as big as Elden Ring to have some leniency with regard to idling merchants. However, having to decide with conviction which NPCs will go to Iosefka’s Clinic and which will go to Oedon Chapel is a significantly meaningful choice. Ultimately, the mechanic’s return will depend on how linear or nonlinear future FromSoftware games are. If the world is as elaborate as it is in Elden Ring with hundreds of hours of content in a single playthrough, absolution would be welcomed back warmly. Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. MORE: The Taurus Demon is Dark Souls’ Best Example of Utilizing Player Choice

Climb and descend high-altitude trails, cross suspension bridges over turbulent rivers, pass through rhododendron and pine forests, watch for wildlife like the rare musk deer and colorful pheasants, take in views of peaks like Mount Everest and Lhotse, and meet the Sherpa people and stay in their villages along the way. getty ** Fall Under the Big Sky: A visit to Big Sky, Montana, and stay at The Wilson Hotel offers the opportunity for fall adventures in Yellowstone country, as elk bugle and pockets of aspen trees turn golden against the backdrop of the green forest. Hike and mountain bike, on trails surrounding town; fish the Gallatin River; or take one last tour of Yellowstone National Park’s natural wonders and wildlife before roads close for the season. getty National Parks RV Trip: National parks saw record crowds this summer, but now that fall is here it’s a great time to visit for fewer crowds, less traffic and pleasant temperatures. Blacksford rents fully stocked Mercedes-Benz Sprinter overland adventure vehicles. A Winnebago has an all-inclusive pricing model that includes unlimited miles, no generator fees, bedding, kitchen and bath supplies, free Wi-Fi, a free annual pass to the national parks and 24-hour roadside assistance. Camp & Mountain Bike Canyonlands: Utah’s 100-mile White Rim Trail loops in and out of a multi-colored array of spires, arches, buttes, and mesas carved by the Green and Colorado Rivers. Travelers spend the majority of this four-day mountain biking and camping tour riding the famous off-road route, while detouring to admire secret passages, hidden slot canyons, natural rock arches, and ancient Puebloan ruins. getty ** Jackson Hole Glamping: Wyoming’s Fireside Resort offers 25 pint-sized, luxuriously outfitted tiny house rental units designed by Wheelhaus. The resort is near Grand Teton National Park and the Jackson Hole ski slopes, making it the perfect place to post up for a fall getaway or winter ski trip. getty Autumn Galapagos Adventure: Fall is one of the best times of year to visit Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands when it comes to wildlife and weather. The Finch Bay Galapagos Hotel has joined forces with Scalesia Galapagos Lodge to offer a new week-long program that includes day trips aboard Yacht Sea Lion, glamping in luxury tents on Isabela Island, and visits to remote and mysterious places that illustrate the incredible diversity of the archipelago. getty Pacific Coast Cycling: The Pacific Coast Route is one of America’s premier cycling routes, and autumn is an optimal time to avoid heavy tourist traffic. Pedal south through the lush forests of western Washington before following the Columbia River to the Oregon coast. Then enter California, and encounter massive redwoods, coastal headlands and sandy beaches with bike paths. Ride the route on your own, with maps from Adventure Cycling Association, or join others on a tour. getty (For conversations of destinations and travel activities around the world, check out my award-winning travel podcast, Places I Remember with Lea Lane. Happy Jack Lodge Providing RV Sites, Amenities, History – Flagstaff Business News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/happy-jack-lodge-providing-rv-sites-amenities-history-flagstaff-business-news/ Expansion plan to answer recreation demand. Julie Pendergast walks through the scenic beauty of Happy Jack enjoying the stately old growth ponderosa pines, gnarly oak trees and an abundance of wildlife like red tail hawks, hummingbirds, deer, elk and squirrels. As the manager of Happy Jack Lodge & RV, located on Lake Mary Road halfway between Mormon Lake and Clints Well, Pendergast calls out to recreationists by name and asks about their spouses and grandchildren. “People love it here,” she said. “Many store their RVs and enjoy the cool pines during the summer.” Happy Jack Lodge has become its own enclave in the woods, privately owned acreage with a massive rustic lodge, steakhouse, grocery store, gift shop, cabins and RV sites. Once the site of the Southwest Forest Industries logging camp, it now hosts campers escaping the Valley heat and busyness of the city, hunters gathering for a warm meal and a game of cards around a massive wood-burning fireplace, and neighboring community members wanting to two-step on a Saturday night to the music of a live country band. “We’ve been told that we receive more mail here than the U.S. Post Office at Clints Well!” said Pendergast, a retired Glendale police officer, who specialized in emergency management. “This has become an important gathering center. People count on us.” Influx of Campers As has been the case since nearly the start of the pandemic, the demand for outdoor recreation and the human need to be in the woods has surged. Coconino National Forest Recreation Manager Brian Poturalski says that’s a trend that shows no sign of slowing down. “The sheer number of people who want to be in Arizona’s high elevation forests has increased dramatically in the last two-and-a-half years,” he said. “It’s a significant impact because a lot of the folks we are seeing now did not grow up camping in the woods. They want to do the right thing and be good stewards of the land, but they may not know what that means.” He says privately owned recreation sites like Happy Jack Lodge and RV fill an important void by providing cabins, RV sites and facilities to accept trash, along with a dumping station for sewage. Happy Jack Lodge also answers emergency calls around the clock. “It feels like a lot of people, post-COVID, are looking for those developed recreation sites where they can feel safe and comfortable,” said Poturalski. “They enjoy being near others and having the amenities and infrastructure provided at these sites.” Pendergast says Happy Jack guests are very sociable and treat the property as if it were their own home. “When a place shows respect for its surroundings, like keeping the lawn mowed, having no trash on the ground, and maintaining clean, freshly painted and smoothly operating facilities, others follow that behavior.” An Exchange for Expansion In the early 2000s, Happy Valley Lodge owner Michael Mongini, a partner in the Flagstaff law firm Hufford, Horstman, Mongini, Parnell and Tucker P.C., initiated a land exchange with the Coconino National Forest. He traded 820 acres of an inholding characterized by plateaus of ponderosa pine forest, bisected by a scenic canyon with nearly two linear miles of East Clear Creek frontage. In return, the Forest Service traded approximately 500 acres of Forest Service land adjacent to Happy Jack Lodge. “It was important to me that the Clear Creek land be part of the National Forest. The trade was consistent with the goals of the Coconino National Forest Management Plan, as they don’t want ‘islands’ of private land surrounded by National Forest,” said Mongini. “And that was an easy decision for me, as well. That riparian area needed to belong to the Forest Service and the land next to Happy Jack would fit the site’s business plan.” As stated in the land exchange documents, “Following completion of the land exchange (September 19, 2008) the Happy Jack Property now serves the original intent anticipated by Coconino County, the Coconino National Forest: 1) The needs of a growing regional population are accommodated with commercial and residential development, ii) County services are more concentrated, iii) impacts to the surrounding National Forest substantially reduced. Visitors have a safe and aesthetically pleasing location in Happy Jack Lodge to congregate, park their recreational vehicles and enjoy the National Forest, rather than utilizing the same recreational vehicles for remote vehicular camping.” Currently, Mongini is working with the County Planning and Zoning Division to rezone the parcel and expand the Happy Jack Lodge operation by 250 RV sites, for a total of 650 sites. “This gives us the opportunity to share this beautiful area with more people from the Valley and elsewhere. We are set up to manage the recreational impact and influence behavior while providing support to both the Forest Service and recreationists,” he said. “The people who work here are wonderful ambassadors who love the forest and truly enjoy welcoming and helping visitors. They also promote Forest Service etiquette and help educate people about the natural surroundings.” Happy Jack’s Role in Early Logging Mongini also feels good about preserving a part of Arizona history that played a key role in the development of Flagstaff. “We’ve been able to recycle, re-use and rehabilitate buildings and 2’ x 6’ boards from the forest logging companies that used this site.” Retired Coconino National Forest Ranger Bruce Greco spent eight years managing the Happy Jack Ranger Station, a few miles northwest of Happy Jack Lodge. “Mormon pioneers brought in a sawmill. They first used it to build a temple in St. George, Utah, in the late 1800s and then dismantled it and moved it to Mormon Lake to supply all the communities along the Little Colorado River with lumber. In those days, lumber was transported by wagons pulled by oxen. They produced quite a bit of lumber for the early start of Flagstaff.” The area was known as Long Valley then and was the only way to get over the Mogollon Rim from Winslow to Strawberry, Pine, Payson and the Phoenix area. In the early 1900s, the Forest Service established the Long Valley Ranger Station. Meanwhile, miners were testing for manganese iron ore around the region. “The same thing was happening at Happy Jack. Manganese mining claims were filed, pits were dug by hand, but no one ever really developed them,” said Greco. After World War II, a surplus of army vehicles with rubber tires was a welcomed addition to the logging scene. “That’s when logging really boomed here,” said Greco. “Loggers converted the vehicles to logging trucks.” In the early 1950s, the Saginaw and Manistee Lumber Company brought in logging trains, equipment and employees to Flagstaff, about 40 miles northwest of Happy Jack. Logging families stayed in the lumber camp at Happy Jack. “Life was very difficult for people there,” he said. “There would have been upwards of 500 people – we’re talking about a land base of only five or six acres. There would have been very little privacy. But they had a spring for water and hunting was a big deal.” The company was absorbed by Southwest Lumber Mills, according to sources that cite Northern Arizona University Cline Library Special Collections and Archives. Southwest Lumber Mills was acquired by Stone Container Company in 1987 and renamed Southwest Forest Industries in 1989. “The natural beauty of the rim, the unique ecosystem, the wildlife and nearby Wilderness of West Clear Creek and Fossil Springs have brought people here since the 1800s,” said Greco. “Happy Jack Lodge continues that unique American West experience offering the solitude, serenity and beauty that people have long been seeking. “It’s a special place,” said Mongini. “We feel really good about inviting people into the woods, where they can connect with nature. Everton Vs. Manchester United Result, Highlights And Analysis As Cristiano Ronaldo Seals Victory With 700th Club Goal – Sporting News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/everton-vs-manchester-united-result-highlights-and-analysis-as-cristiano-ronaldo-seals-victory-with-700th-club-goal-sporting-news/ Manchester United battled back from a goal down to defeat Everton 2-1 as Cristiano Ronaldo achieved another moment of history. The Red Devils were humbled 6-3 by Manchester City last Sunday and started this match at Goodison Park in inauspicious fashion, Alex Iwobi scoring after just five minutes after Casemiro lost the ball. United levelled through Antony, who struck his third goal in three Premier League appearances after being played in by Anthony Martial. The France striker went off shortly afterwards with an injury, meaning Ronaldo was summoned from the bench. The Portugal great made a telling impact, sweeping a low finish beneath Jordan Pickford following Casemiro’s pass for his 700th career club goal. Marcus Rashford had a third goal disallowed in the second half but United withstood an aerial onslaught from Everton to claim the three points. MORE: Cristiano Ronaldo goal scoring record: List of all-time top scorers though totals are up for debate The Sporting News is providing live commentary, highlights and analysis from the match Everton vs. Manchester United result   1H 2H FT Everton 1 1 1 Manchester United 2 2 2 Goals: 5 mins — Iwobi (assist: Gray) 15 mins — Antony (assist: Martial) 44 mins — Ronaldo (assist: Casemiro) This match was pushed back to 7 p.m. local time as United had been in UEFA Europa League action in Cyprus on Thursday. That day, they found themselves a goal behind after dominating the first half before going on to win, and they left themselves with work to do once more on Merseyside. Casemiro, starting his first league match, was robbed of the ball by Amadou Onana in his own half, Demarai Gray laid it off to Iwobi, and the former Arsenal man curled a lovely finish out of David de Gea’s reach from the edge of the box after only five minutes. United responded well to their early set-back and were level 10 minutes later. Onana was this time guilty of dawdling in possession and the visitors countered, with Martial feeding Antony to sweep home in style. Martial’s outing ended soon afterwards as he trudged off the field and down the tunnel, apparently injured again. Ronaldo replaced him, and promptly made his mark, racing through and firing beneath Pickford after Casemiro tackled Iwobi and fed his former Real Madrid team-mate. 700 – Cristiano Ronaldo has scored the 700th club goal of his career, 20 years and 2 days after his first goal. 5 – Sporting CP 118 – Man Utd (1st spell) 450 – Real Madrid 101 – Juventus 26 – Man Utd (2nd spell) Icon. pic.twitter.com/cGKEjVdOLD — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) October 9, 2022 Everton had conceded the fewest goals of any Premier League side before this match, but they had also only scored seven times in their first eight games. There was no lack of endeavour from Frank Lampard’s men, but creating clear-cut chances against a resolute United defence proved difficult, as crosses from deep seemed their only viable tactic. Rashford stole in front of Iwobi, hurdled a James Tarkowski challenge and found a way around Pickford to score what he thought was the killer goal, but a VAR review deemed the ball had struck his arm after deflecting off Tarkowski in the build-up. If the decision was harsh, it didn’t shake United’s focus. Onana had a half-chance with a header and Pickford went up for some late corners, but the Red Devils held firm to go fifth in the table. Ronaldo shows enduring class after more Martial woe Martial had been in brilliant form in preseason before injury restricted him to just 45 minutes of football in United’s opening six league games of 2022/23. He got two goals off the bench against City and another at Omonia, earning a starting spot here and duly assisting Antony for the equaliser. A new injury, this time with his back, ended his involvement. Martial’s misfortune was Ronaldo’s gain. The Portugal veteran took his chance with aplomb and generally led the United line well, winning a good header for what should have been a third from Rashford. Was it enough to convince Ten Hag to put him back in the first XI? It probably should be. Ronaldo x Antony pic.twitter.com/qWjWqMnJVQ — Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) October 9, 2022 Casemiro takes charge after early jitters Ten Hag had suggested last week that Casemiro needed time to adjust to life in the Premier League. Losing the ball to go a goal down after just five minutes of your full debut in the competition wasn’t a great way to prove the United manager wrong. It marked a peculiar first half for Casemiro, in which it sometimes felt like he was intentionally giving the ball away only to show how good he is at winning it back. That was never more apparent in the lead-up to Ronaldo’s goal, when Casemiro made a mess of a pass, quickly tackled Iwobi and played a perfectly weighted throughball.  His positioning in the second half was consistently strong, though, and it was part of the reason Everton were forced wide to attempt hopeful crosses that yielded hardly any clear chances. It’s hard to see him being left out of the starting line-up much longer. United show mettle to finish gruelling week The humiliation of the 6-3 at Man City, the long trip and surprisingly tricky game in Cyprus, and a physical battle at a wet and cold Goodison Park made this a trying week for United. Ten Hag was pleased enough with how it ended, particularly after they fell behind for the third time in seven days. “The reaction of the team [to going behind] was good. That was one of our aims: to deal better with set-backs,” Ten Hag told BT Sport. “Especially first half, they were pressing well. “It’s difficult here. Seven games unbeaten, difficult to score against them… and we scored two. So, that’s good.” For United to see off Everton’s aerial assault in the second half with little more than a scare from an Onana header was testament to their strong defending, especially with Raphael Varane only fit enough for a late cameo. They should have made more of their chances to score a third and kill the game off — Rashford was unfortunate to see his disallowed — but this, cliched as it may sound, was a test of character for Ten Hag’s men. They passed. 100 – @ManUtd have become the first side to win 100 Premier League games in which they conceded the first goal: 100 – Man Utd 96 – Spurs 85 – Liverpool 84 – Chelsea 79 – Arsenal Temperament. pic.twitter.com/zf7XDcHung — OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) October 9, 2022 MORE: Omonia vs. Man United result, highlights & analysis Everton vs. Manchester United commentary, highlights FULLTIME: United battle to a 2-1 victory over Everton! Iwobi gave the hosts the lead but first-half goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo got the Red Devils on top. Rashford had a third disallowed, and the visitors had to survive a bit of an aerial onslaught, but the three points are theirs. 90+3 mins: Pickford goes up for an Everton corner and Varane just nods the ball out of the Toffees keeper’s reach! What a moment that could have been. The home side have two more corners, United hold firm… and it’s all over! 90+1 mins: De Gea makes a crucial save! Was it a shot or a cross from Garner? It’s hard to say, but De Gea leapt to his left to claw the ball away as Onana looked to get a head on it. The corner ends up bouncing off a blue shirt and behind for a goal kick. Ten Hag is bringing on Raphael Varane for these closing moments, with Antony making way. 90 mins: Half a chance for Onana! Gray gets the ball in from the right and Onana rises relatively unchallenged, but he can’t direct the header on target. We’re into four minutes of injury time here… 89 mins: Everton are battling hard but United’s defence is sound and they keep the ball for a couple of minutes. Iwobi then launches another cross from deep into the box but Lindelof, again, is there to head away. McNeil then tries a delivery from almost the same square of turf, and De Gea catches. 86 mins: Scott McTominay, on as a sub, goes into the book for catching Gray. Pickford launches the free-kick forward but Onana’s header drifts out for a goal kick. 84 mins: That was unfortunate for Rashford, who couldn’t really do much about the ball bouncing up and touching his arm. Considering Gianluca Scamacca had a goal allowed for West Ham against Fulham today in similar circumstances, it makes the decision a bit of a harsh one. Still, it’s certainly given the home crowd a lift for these closing minutes. 81 mins: GOAL FOR UNITED — no! It’s disallowed! Rashford thought he had scored United’s third but a VAR check has ruled the ball struck his arm in the build-up as he hurdled a challenge from Tarkowski. The score remains 2-1 to the visitors. 78 mins: United have really struggled with their passing in this half and it’s giving the Everton crowd some belief, although the home side are still finding it tough to create chances. Garner’s first impact for Everton is a sore one for Fernandes as he stands on the toe of his old team-mate. 74 mins: Half a chance for Eriksen, who is teed up by Ronaldo but blasts over the bar with his left foot. Rashford then tries his luck with a half-volley but doesn’t catch it right. We’re about to see Calvert-Lewin for the hosts, along with James Garner, the former United midfielder. 72 mins: Onana gets his head on a corner but it’s too high. At the other end, Fernandes and Rashford combine but the latter’s cross is cut out by Pickford. 70 mins: It’s been pretty scrappy this half as the rain has got heavier. United keep giving the ball away but they’re restricting Everton to largely hopeful crosses. Ten Hag will certainly want his side to find a third goal to make things a little more com...

Zuckerbergs Metaverse App On Quality Lockdown As Even Employees Wont Use It: Report Decrypt
Zuckerberg’s Metaverse App On ‘Quality Lockdown’ As Even Employees Won’t Use It: Report – Decrypt https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/zuckerbergs-metaverse-app-on-quality-lockdown-as-even-employees-wont-use-it-report-decrypt/ When Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a first look at his company’s multi-billion dollar virtual reality metaverse gamble, Horizon Worlds, the internet mockingly derided the platform’s graphics—to the extent that Zuckerberg soon after issued a wounded apology, claiming Horizon was “capable of much more” and “improving quickly.” It appears that even the Meta employees working to make those improvements don’t hold the platform in the highest regard, either.  According to internal company memos obtained by The Verge, Meta’s Horizon Worlds team has been repeatedly chastised by department leadership for rarely using the platform, despite repeated orders to do so both at work and at home. Further memos reveal the Horizon Worlds team has been instructed to remain in a “quality lockdown” for the rest of the year to address enduring issues with the platform’s appearance and functionality.  “For many of us, we don’t spend that much time in Horizon and our dogfooding dashboards show this pretty clearly,” Meta’s VP of Metaverse Vishal Shah wrote to employees on September 15. “Why is that? Why don’t we love the product we’ve built so much that we use it all the time? The simple truth is, if we don’t love it, how can we expect our users to love it?” Two weeks later, Horizon Worlds leadership found its team members’ engagement with the platform to still be unsatisfactory. In a memo dated September 30, Shah wrote that a plan was being drafted to “hold managers accountable” for enforcing mandatory Horizon sessions for Meta employees to use the platform and encouraging them to share it with non-work friends.  “Everyone in this organization should make it their mission to fall in love with Horizon Worlds. You can’t do that without using it,” said Shah. “Get in there. Organize times to do it with your colleagues or friends, in both internal builds but also the public build so you can interact with our community.” Shah did concede that the platform’s onboarding experience “is confusing and frustrating for users,” and that “the aggregate weight of papercuts, stability issues, and bugs is making it too hard for our community to experience the magic of Horizon.”  For these reasons, the Horizon Worlds team was instructed by Shah on September 15 to remain in a “quality lockdown” through the end of the year to “ensure that we fix our quality gaps and performance issues before we open up Horizon to more users.” A Meta spokesperson told Decrypt that “of course we are always making quality improvements and acting on the feedback from our community of creators.” “This is a multiyear journey, and we’re going to keep making what we build better,” the spokesperson said. Horizon Worlds’ woes are particularly notable in light of the exceptional amount of money Zuckerberg has directed at the division, which the CEO has repeatedly framed as the future of his company. In July, Meta’s metaverse division posted a whopping $2.8 billion loss for Q2, bringing year-to-date losses for the group to $5.77 billion. In 2021, the division lost $10.2 billion.  On Meta’s Q2 earnings call in July, Zuckerberg repeatedly defended his metaverse division, Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), to shareholders.  “This is obviously a very expensive undertaking over the next several years,” Zuckerberg conceded at the time. “But as the metaverse becomes more important in every part of how we live[…] I’m confident that we’re going to be glad we played an important role in building this.”  Meta has been all-in on dominating the metaverse—an immersive, future version of the internet navigated by digital avatars—since changing the company’s name from Facebook last fall. But while Zuckerberg has been on a voracious spending spree in the metaverse, results have yet to materialize.   Leaders in Web3 have expressed skepticism about the company’s metaverse campaign. In late July, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin stated that “the metaverse is going to happen,” but that he didn’t believe “any of the existing corporate attempts to intentionally create the metaverse are going anywhere.” “It’s far too early to know what people actually want,” Buterin said at the time. “So anything Facebook creates now will misfire.” Stay on top of crypto news, get daily updates in your inbox.

Opinion | The U.S. Has Leverage Over Saudi Arabia. It’s Time To Use It. – POLITICO https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/opinion-the-u-s-has-leverage-over-saudi-arabia-its-time-to-use-it-politico/ What would lead the Saudis so unwisely to err with their recent OPEC+ mistake? Stunned energy commentators have suggested that the Saudis were merely concerned about their endangered financial returns, acting rationally. Denying any political motives, Ali Shihabi, a Saudi analyst, insisted in the New York Times that the move was merely “to keep the price in an acceptable band.” But this claim is unjustified. OPEC has never cut production in such a record tight market and these production cuts will lead to unsustainably low oil inventories, sending the price of oil skyrocketing out of any “acceptable band.” Furthermore, the G-7 oil price caps plan is not targeted at OPEC; it is strictly limited to Russian oil. Nor can this Saudi move be justified by the non-existent global recession its leaders cite. Presently markets are very tight, with lush 73 percent profit margins for Saudi Arabia. In other words, there was no immediate need for Saudi Arabia to reduce supply unless they were seeking to harm the U.S. to the benefit of Russia. Every OPEC member has been making massive profits recently — except Russia because it is OPEC’s least efficient producer. It costs Russia $46/barrel to extract oil but, with U.S. technology, the Saudi’s cost is only $22/barrel. Plus, only Russia has had to offer huge $35/barrel discounts to customers like India and China since few others want sanctioned Russian oil. To be clear, Saudi Arabia remains important to energy security and stability in the Middle East, to global economic prosperity, and as a regional ally against Iran, but it made a terrible mistake this week. The country’s support for Russia should spark a far-reaching review of the U.S.-Saudi relationship — even as the regime tries to “sportswash” its international image in the wake of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder and the humanitarian disaster caused by Saudi’s war in Yemen. Members of Congress are already talking about how best to respond. Some propose extending domestic antitrust laws to international commerce. Others propose reviving a GOP initiative to withdraw U.S. troops from Saudi Arabia. But that idea has failed previously given that the U.S. would rather have its own troops there than Russian or Chinese troops. A simpler, far more urgent move to fortify U.S. national security would be to pause all U.S. military supplies, sales and other weapons aid to Saudi Arabia. This includes the controversial, new and hastily planned Red Sands testing facilities in Saudi Arabia. U.S. military collaboration with the Saudi regime is more extensive than many realize, but that also gives the U.S. significant economic and security leverage over Riyadh. Today, Saudi Arabia is hugely dependent on U.S. defense assistance, purchasing the vast majority of its arms from the United States. The country cannot substitute defense suppliers unless it wishes to partner with Russia, Iran or China for far inferior systems which have no interoperability with their existing weaponry. (While Saudi does source some military technology from other countries, that’s typically low-grade weaponry and small arms such as legacy grenade launchers, rifles and ammunition.) Perhaps even more important than Saudi’s reliance on U.S. arms is its reliance on U.S. companies to help build up the local defense industry through big-ticket joint ventures. These sensitive and intensive arrangements — which have received little public attention — were largely initiated in 2017 and have outsourced U.S. sensitive technology and U.S. jobs to Saudi Arabia without any U.S. control. The U.S. doesn’t have arrangements of this magnitude with any other allies. Given the early-stage nature of these joint ventures as well as minimal interoperability between Saudi’s current weapons system and potential foreign replacements, Saudi can do little to respond to this proposed legislation other than come back to the table and negotiate with the U.S. in good faith. As one expert noted, “it would take decades to transition away from U.S. and UK aircraft, for example, to Russian or Chinese aircraft. Same is true for tanks, communication and other hi-tech equipment.” It would be a severe challenge, if not downright impossible, for Saudi to execute an overnight short-term sourcing pivot if faced with a ban on arms sales. And any ban could be temporary — until Saudi Arabia reconsiders its embrace of Putin. Maybe it is worth considering some ancient Russian wisdom ourselves. Over a century ago, Russian playwright Anton Chekhov warned, “Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.” Perhaps the same is true about leverage. It is of no value unless used.

That was until the 33-minute when Utah Tech found the net for the first score of the game. That’s when things started to get away from the Aggies. Two more goals by the Trailblazers, including an own goal by the Aggies, gave Utah Tech a commanding 3-0 lead. Loma McNeese scored a goal in the 55- minute narrowing the deficit to two, but that would prove to be all the Aggies could produce offensively in the match eventually falling 3-1.    SCORING SUMMARY | Box Score 33′ | Savannah Stauffer scored a goal for the Trailblazers after Makenna Gottschalk got tangled with a defender who collided with her in the back field. To Gottschalk’s surprise, the official did not call the foul and Stauffer was able to intercept the pass and put one over Gottschalk before she could get back to her position.  43′ | Later in the half, the Trailblazers added another score thanks to an Aggie own goal.  The score come off a corner kick that landed right in the middle of the box. The ball deflected off an Aggie defender and snuck past Gottschalk for the score. 52′ | In the second half, the Aggies struggles on defense continued. A free kick put taken by Emily Garrbett ten yards from the center line found the upper right corner of the net giving the Trailblazers a 3-0 lead. 55′ | Not long after the Trailblazers score, Loma McNeese answered back with her second goal of the weekend, and seventh of the season. Thalia Chaverria crossed a ball towards the middle of the field and found Mya Hammack in position. Hammack preceded to head the pass back to McNeese, who took a shot about 20-yards out, and found the lower right corner of the net. The Aggies now trailed 3-1. Not done yet #AggieUp pic.twitter.com/qeegE1S7Zr — NM State Soccer (@NMStateWSOC) October 9, 2022 PERFORMANCES / STATS OF NOTE With the loss, NM State moves to 7-4-3 overall and 4-2-2 in conference.  Utah Tech also moves into first place with the win.  The Aggies outshot the Trailblazers 13-10 with ten shots on goal to the Trailblazers seven.  This is the most goals scored against the Aggies all season. Loma McNeese scored her second goal of the weekend and seventh of the season – the most by an Aggie since Xitlaly Hernandez scored seven in the spring 2021 season.  Thalia Chaverria recorded her the first assist of her career following her pass to Mya Hammack that led to a Loma McNeese score in the 55-minute.  Mya Hammack secured her third assist of the season and fifth of her career.  Makenna Gottschalk recorded five saves giving her 65 on the season. This is the fifth time this year she’s tallied at least five saves in a game.  Three Aggies and one Trailblazer drew yellow cards in the match. Xitlaly Hernandez drew the first one in the 47-minute. Kearney Hoggan (Utah Tech) and Landy Williams both picked up yellow cards in the 75-minute. Loma McNeese drew a yellow card in the 89-mintue. NEXT UP The Aggies will hit the road again Saturday (10/15) to face Sam Houston. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. from Joseph Pritchett Field in Huntsville, Texas. After that, the Aggies will head west to face Grand Canyon before they meet California Baptist for the regular season finally.  For complete coverage of New Mexico State women’s soccer, follow us on Twitter (@NMStateWSOC), Instagram (@NMStateWSOC) and like us on Facebook (NM State Women’s Soccer). ++NM State ++

A fullback handoff, and he pitched it to Mostert. You can’t even blame the call, that was all Jets defense. Great pursuit, they were all over it.  Pinned It’s great to see first-round pick Quinnen Williams come up with a big play. Thompson fumbles (First Miami fumble lost all year) and now the Jets are about to extend their lead.  Pinned 7 plays, 56 yards and seven points. The Jets now have a nine-point lead. Michael Carter has two touchdowns, but Breece Hall has been the story. 78 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards on 2 targets.  Pinned OH NO. A missed 54-yard field goal. That feels like a pretty significant moment. Dolphins remain down 2 points, but this defense has been stout.  43 yards, 6 plays. Missed FG from Jets’ 36-yard line.  Pinned We had just three points scored in the third quarter after 28 scored in the second quarter. Wonder how much more scoring we will get. Both offenses not exactly balling out. Penalties are sparking drives now.  Pinned Anytime you go deep on fourth and 1 is very weird. Is Skylar Thompson about to out-duel Zach Wilson? Pinned Dolphins have now gone 10 plays on 47 yards. Drive has felt like an eternity. Nothing really going. Field goal unit coming out.  Pinned Expect Miami to rely on Mostert a ton in this second half.  Pinned Durham Smythe with a one-yard rush touchdown rush on a play the Chiefs ran last week against the Bucs. 19-14 now. It really feels like the Jets have momentum, but this game is far from over.  Pinned Six seconds before halftime. Dolphins going for it on second and goal down 19-7.  Pinned What’s really stood out to me so far apart from Sauce Gardner is Raheem Mostert. He has 74 yards rushing right now!  Pinned SAUCE GARDNER. He should be the favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year no respect to Devin Lloyd. Two HUGE plays today. Kid is a baller.  Pinned Dolphins! 8 plays, 75 yards. Mike McDaniel is having to get creative with some of these play calls with a third-stringer. It worked on that drive. Keep an eye on the running backs here. 12-7 Jets.  Pinned Breece Hall catch-and-run goes for 79 YARDS. Dolphins defense had no interest in tackling him.  Pinned A three-and-out on Thompson’s second drive. A screen went nowhere, and a five-yard completion on third and seven wasn’t enough. Big opportunity for the Jets here.  Pinned Jets put together their best drive of the game. 56 yards on seven plays. Ends on a 34-yard field goal to push the lead to five points. More than half of those yards came from penalties.  Pinned Dolphins go 5 plays, 33 yards before they have to punt. I really do like Skylar Thompson though. I want to see if he’s going to settle in. While it’s early, I think a storyline we are passing over is that the Jets’ offense has been bad. Let’s see if they can pick up more than one first down this drive.  Pinned Pinned Pinned Dang we really have Skylar Thompson vs. Zach Wilson today. Unreal. Thompson was a stud in the preseason. Read more here: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/dolphins-mike-mcdaniel-may-be-forced-to-keep-skylar-thompson-as-third-qb-hes-made-it-tough-hasnt-he/ Pinned Dolphins defense shows up! Jets forced to punt after another four-play drive. I’m keeping an eye on this offensive line through the afternoon.  Pinned Pinned Wow the Jets are so juiced today. Safety to start the game and now great field position thanks to Braxton Berrios.  Pinned First offensive play for the Dolphins and they get a safety! Unreal. Intentional grounding is definitely a weird call. Almost looked like a fumble.  I don’t care if the arm is going forward, Bridgewater didn’t have possession of the ball. Pinned Pinned Sauce Gardner shows up! He’s been lockdown this year and it feels like we aren’t talking enough about him. What a big hit on Bridgewater to start the game.  Pinned Pinned See More

Elly Awesome Apple Watch Ultra Review: Design, Features, Battery Life, Price | News.com.au — Australia’s Leading News Site – News.com.au https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/elly-awesome-apple-watch-ultra-review-design-features-battery-life-price-news-com-au-australias-leading-news-site-news-com-au/ REVIEW Apple has brought out a seriously rugged smartwatch called the Apple Watch Ultra, which boasts up to 60 hours of battery life, with its new low power mode. Could this be the perfect Apple Watch for explorers, adventurers or even the every day Apple Watch user? Design The Apple Watch Ultra is a cellular smartwatch that comes in one colour – titanium. It reminds me of Apple’s starlight colour, which presents as a colour that’s between silver and gold. Titanium is also the material the watch is made out of so that the Ultra is lightweight, rugged and resistant to corrosion. And depending on the watch band you choose, the Ultra can have a totally different look. There are three all new watch bands made for the Ultra – the alpine loop, trail loop, and ocean band and they’re all unique and made for different scenarios. For example, the ocean band is made of a high performance elastomer, which is great for stretching over a wetsuit and is also secure for high performance water sports. These three bands (that are available in multiple colours) are probably the best bands to choose for this watch, however, I can confirm that ”regular” 45mm watch bands also fit the Apple Watch Ultra. Features Taking a look at the new Apple Watch Ultra, it’s very much a beefed up version of a regular Apple Watch. It’s the largest Apple watch face we’ve seen at 49mm, as opposed to the largest regular Apple Watch which has a display size of 45mm. The sapphire crystal watch face is now completely flat and flush with its titanium casing; there’s no longer a curved display that meets the metal edges. And the new display is the brightest ever in an Apple Watch at 2000 nits, twice as bright compared to any other Apple Watch. This is one of my favourite new features of the watch. The display is so unbelievably clear, and easy to read, even in harsh sunlight. On the left side there’s a refined dual-frequency GPS antenna, that provides more accurate location data for calculating distance, pace, and route maps. There are dual speakers so that audio playback such as Siri and phone calls are louder and easier to hear. There’s a new large, orange coloured ‘Action Button’ which is a customisable button that allows you to instantly start a pre-programmed workout, mark a compass waypoint or you can even press and hold it to activate the new Siren feature. It’s a built-in 86 decibel siren that can be heard up to 180 metres away, which is helpful if you’re lost and are hoping to attract attention. I can confirm it is an impressive feature. There’s also a new depth gauge which provides real time measurements of underwater depths up to 40 metres, making it like a dive computer, and it also includes water temperature readings. Additionally, on the right side there’s a new three-mic array. Through my tests I found that these have seriously improved the microphone’s audio quality, providing clearer audio quality, especially in windy environments. Apple has also raised the side button slightly, and enlarged the digital crown dial and given it coarser grooves to make it easier to use, which is helpful if you have gloves on. So, the entire watch has been through a complete overhaul. And it’s become a swiss army knife on your wrist, with the addition of smart features such as crash detection (which will intelligently alert emergency services if you’re in a car crash), GPS waypoints, and fall detection. Personally, I’m not a big adventurer myself, I’ve never done a triathlon and I’m not an athlete but I love having all of these insane features on my wrist. I feel like Inspector Gadget. I will say though, this watch is a lot chunkier than the regular Apple Watch. And even as someone who enjoys wearing the larger 45mm Apple Watch, it felt a little big for everyday wear. In saying that, it’s only around 10g heavier than the Apple Watch I currently wear, so it’s only a visible difference, and you can barely notice a difference in weight. Battery Life I haven’t been able to test the Ultra’s low power battery mode, which boasts 60 hours of battery life, as it’s coming soon to the Apple Watch Ultra as an update. For now, I’ve been able to use the watch for almost two days straight, whereas the regular watch only lasts around a day. However, the Apple Watch Ultra with general use, boasts up to 36 hours of battery life, and it has been delightful to not have to charge it as frequently. This also means it can finally track a full triathlon, which was apparently a pain point for athletes and amateur athletes previously. Is it worth it? With the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple has now created a watch that suits a whole new range of people. Endurance athletes, people that partake in water sports, divers, and a range of other unique activities. And although the battery life isn’t going to beat all of the competition when it comes to activity tracking smartwatches, the improved battery life is now enough to last a full triathlon with GPS turned on. The price tag of the Ultra makes more sense for people who are heading out on adventures regularly, and for those that plan to push this watch to its limits. However, if you’re a diehard Apple Watch fan and you value having the best of all battery life, you wear gloves at your work, you need the most durable and waterproof smart watch, with the brightest display, and you like larger watches, this is absolutely the Apple Watch for you. The Apple Watch Ultra retails for $1299. Elly Awesome is an Aussie tech and lifestyle vlogger | @ellyawesometech | YouTube

OpenSea Hit In Ongoing Crypto Exec Exodus As CFO Resigns – Cryptopolitan https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/opensea-hit-in-ongoing-crypto-exec-exodus-as-cfo-resigns-cryptopolitan/ TL;DR Breakdown OpenSea’s chief financial officer Brain Roberts has resigned. Monthly volume and unique users on the NFT marketplace have fallen over recent months. Crypto executives are increasingly leaving their positions amid the bear market. The past few months in the cryptocurrency industry have been marked with a disturbing number of executive resignations, and OpenSea has just become the latest firm caught in the wave. OpenSea’s CFO resigns The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at OpenSea, Brian Roberts, has stepped down from his position in the NFT marketplace. Roberts joined OpenSea in December 2021, marking ten months of active service in leading and growing the finance team at the largest NFT marketplace.  Well it is time for me to come ashore from the “open seas.” I’m grateful for the opportunity and proud of many accomplishments but none more than the strength of the finance team at OpenSea.” Brian Roberts. Although Roberts ceases to become OpenSea’s CFO, he intends to assume an advisory role at the NFT marketplace. The current Vice President of Finance, Justin Jow, will reportedly take over the wheel as Chief Financial Officer.  “I remain incredibly bullish on web3 and especially OpenSea. The company is heads down building and I assure you, the best is yet to come,” Roberts added. Crypto bear market forces more exec departure Roberts’ departure comes as OpenSea records a significant decrease in market interest and trading volume. According to DappRadar, OpenSea’s monthly volume is currently over 7% to $245 million. Additionally, the number of unique wallet addresses interacting with the protocol has also declined by 4.12% to 258.23k.  Generally, interest in NFTs and cryptocurrencies are currently down owing to the bear market and uncertainties around the global economy. Amidst these events, many cryptocurrency companies have seen their executives resign, including Algorand, Alameda Research, Kraken, Celsius, etc.  In late September, the President of FTX.US Brett Harrison announced his resignation 18 months after joining the exchange. Similar to Roberts, Harrison intends to stay at the exchange as an advisor.  Ibiam Wayas Ibiam is an optimistic crypto journalist. US: BMW Set New Plug-In Car Sales Record In Q3 2022 – InsideEVs https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/us-bmw-set-new-plug-in-car-sales-record-in-q3-2022-insideevs/ The BMW Group (BMW and MINI) reports a slight year-over-year improvement in car sales in the US. During the third quarter, the company sold 85,209 cars (up 4%), although the year-to-date result is still in the red at 249,835 (down 6%). BMW: 78,031 (up 3%) MINI: 7,178 (up 11%) Total: 85,209 (up 4%) In terms of plug-in electric cars, the company reports record results achieved by the BMW brand, which in Q3 sold 10,858 plug-ins (12.7% of the total volume), including 4,337 battery-electric cars (5.1% of the total volume). This includes 1,727 BMW iX, so we guess that the remaining 2,610 BEVs must be BMW i4 (as the BMW i3 was at 0 and there are no other all-electric BMWs on the market). Unfortunately, BMW counts electric and internal-combustion engine 4-series together in its stats. “Increased availability of the battery electric BMW iX Sports Activity Vehicle and BMW i4 Gran Coupe fueled sales growth in all three months of the third quarter.  As a result, the company also set new quarterly benchmarks for both battery electric (4,337) and plug-in hybrid electric deliveries (10,858 BEV & PHEV combined).” The good news is that soon the lineup will be further strengthened by the all-electric flagship BMW i7, which will arrive at dealerships in the US this quarter. BMW plug-in electric car sales: BMW i3: 0 (down 100%, retired) BMW i4: potentially 2,610 (new) BMW i8: 0 (down 100%, retired) BMW iX: 1,727 (new) Total: 10,858 (4,337 BEVs and 6,521 PHEVs) and 12.7% share * only models for which data are available Besides the i-series models, BMW offers also multiple plug-in hybrids, but sales data for those models is not available. On top of that comes the MINI brand and its plug-in hybrid Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 and all-electric MINI CooperSE, but once again, without any info about its sales results. Sebastian Mackensen, President and CEO, BMW of North America said: “The customer demand and enthusiasm for BMW’s electric vehicles has been there from the start. With the support of our dealer partners, we expect this momentum to accelerate through the fourth quarter, resulting in a strong finish to the year.” Detailed BMW sales results:
