Kaushal who spoke in Abuja during the unveiling of a branch of Spaholic, a beauty parlour that takes care of the physical, social and mental well-being of both men and women, said spa which means health through water is not only a need but a necessity for healthy living which should be the concern of everyone. Emphasising that beauty is about women empowerment, he said women must take care of themselves first in order to be able to take care of their spouses and children. She said with the services available, women can gain more confidence with well cultured nails, beautiful exfoliated skin, brushed and proper groomed hair, as well as other body pamperings needed to boost both mental and psychological health. She also said as a foreigner, she lives Nigeria more than her home country and in the business of employing as many youths as the opportunity provides. “Health benefits are many in spa treatment, particularly when it relates to hygiene. Clients are taught how to take care of themselves and how to bathe professionally. There are many beauty treatments available and many don’t take care of their hair and skin and so we treat that and make them feel good. “You can take care of your family, but never forget to take care of yourself. If you live yourself, then you can take care of your family better. No one will want to see a woman who is not properly put together around the house.  “I want women to look beautiful and gorgeous and become more empowered. The future is female and women are going to work it and rule it as well. It cannot be done when you are not confident. What makes you confident is looking good and living yourself. Your beauty is what makes you more confident. So confidence needed to be generated and we take care of everyone. So women, look good for yourself, your husband and children. Warriors GM: Draymond Green Apologizes For Fight With Jordan Poole USA TODAY
Warriors GM: Draymond Green Apologizes For Fight With Jordan Poole – USA TODAY https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/warriors-gm-draymond-green-apologizes-for-fight-with-jordan-poole-usa-today/ Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green apologized to his teammates on Thursday, one day after he was involved in a physical altercation with Jordan Poole.  “Draymond apologized to the team this morning,” general manager Bob Myers told reporters after Thursday’s practice. “Jordan was there in the room, I was there in the room with the team, the coaches, the players and we heard that.” Myers said all disciplinary action will be handled internally, but noted that he doesn’t foresee Green missing any games over the incident.  A heated argument between Green and Poole came to blows during practice on Wednesday when Green struck Poole. The Athletic first reported the altercation.  REPORTS: Warriors’ Draymond Green ‘forcefully struck’ Jordan Poole during practice STAY UP TO DATE: Subscribe to our Sports newsletter now! Myers said no one got hurt, adding that Poole finished practice on Wednesday and was present at practice on Thursday. Green left the facility after addressing the team Thursday.  “It’s unfortunate, I’m not going to deny it,” Myers said. “It’ll take some time to move through, but we’ll move through it and move forward and I’m confident that we will. We’ve got a good team, we’ve got good leadership, we’ve got some guys that have been here a long time.” Although he didn’t elaborate on what caused the altercation, Myers said he doesn’t think the fight between Green and Poole “was related to who is getting paid and who isn’t.” Poole’s representatives are in discussions with Myers about a contract extension ahead of the Oct. 17 deadline. Myers described Green as an emotional and passionate “leader on this team” that is known for giving “tough love,” but Wednesday’s altercation was “over the line.”  “Look, it’s the NBA, professional sports, these things happen. Nobody likes it. We don’t condone it, but it happened,” he said. “This isn’t our first thing that’s happened, first sense of adversity, we’ve been through some of this before.” This is not the first time Green and Poole have gotten into a heated argument. The two had to be separated by Steph Curry and others last season during the Warriors’ 123-111 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 10 after Green and Poole started arguing on the bench. The Warriors are coming off a 2022 NBA title, the fourth championship for Green and first for Poole. Golden State is set to open its title defense in the 2022-23 season on Oct. 18. Keilini Portable Heater Reviews – Must Read Before You Buy! – UrbanMatter https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/keilini-portable-heater-reviews-must-read-before-you-buy-urbanmatter/ The trouble of the beautiful winter – Heaters During the winter season, one thing that we can’t do without is the heater in our house. Many of us use central heaters, a colossal heater networked around the house, and thermostats. But there are some drawbacks and disadvantages to using this type of heater. For a start, these house warmers are massive and colossal. Sometimes, the portable models, too, give us problems when moving and storing because they are bigger than we would prefer.  Next, a central heater costs thousands of dollars when we are buying it new, and the setup will cost another additional charge bigger than the cost of the heater itself sometimes if there’s a need for construction in the house to attach the central heating system to the house.  But these drawbacks don’t stop from there. Just like they are huge and give problems when trying to move, after a few winters, we will have to repair and service the machine so that it will work without a hitch throughout the winter season. If not, all family members will be on edge throughout the season, thinking about when the heater will finally give up and stop working. And should I really mention the costs of these services and repairs it will put on our tabs? The next considerable expense we get billed for is the electricity. Since the central heating systems pump out much power they can to heat the whole house at once, even the unused parts and rooms in the house, the electricity consumption becomes hefty during this season.  Being experienced winters for as long as we can remember, almost all of us know these troubles. To be honest, winter season is one of the seasons that will multiply our expenses in multiple folds. And people are used to saving money for the winter. We much change our entire wardrobe with winter-matched clothes, buy boots and coats to keep us warm, and the list is never-ending.  But, being warm throughout the season is much more important than all the others. Therefore, the heaters in our houses get increased attention during the season. But, since the world is moving much faster and technology is being upgraded every single day, the days we went to games with those old bulky heaters are coming to an end. To tell the truth, that era is almost over.  Now it is up to us to upgrade ourselves and pick one of the most user-friendly, easy-to-use heaters on the market. But before doing that, being informed of the best heaters in the market is imperative to save ourselves from scams which head up during the winter season, the time when the demand for heaters is at its max. that is why you must read this. We found one of the best yet new heaters with upgraded technology to keep you warm and out of big and hefty electricity bills. Binance Smart Chain Halts After ‘Potential Exploit’ Drains Estimated $100M In Crypto – CoinDesk https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/binance-smart-chain-halts-after-potential-exploit-drains-estimated-100m-in-crypto-coindesk/ Nelson Wang is CoinDesk’s news editor for the East Coast. Binance Smart Chain hit the brakes Thursday after the blockchain with ties to the world’s largest crypto exchange suffered what it called a “potential exploit” that on-chain evidence suggested could have targeted hundreds of millions of dollars in crypto. “Due to irregular activity we’re temporarily pausing BSC,” BNB Chain tweeted from its official account, later confirming that the activity was a “potential exploit,” that it characterized as contained. Initial token movements suggested that up to two million BSC tokens were targeted by an attacker late Thursday, but the true losses may be much lower. BNB Chain estimated $100 to $110 million in assets were moved off chain but said in a tweet that $7 million was already frozen. That such a small (comparatively speaking) sum of assets were stolen underscored the upside of BNB’s gamble to halt the chain rather than risk more assets escaping. Blockchains are purportedly decentralized beasts designed to operate beyond the whim of singular entities: you aren’t supposed to just flip an off switch. BSC confirmed that it coordinated a shutdown of the chain after spotting issues with the BSC Token Hub protocol, the clearinghouse for crypto transactions moving between the Binance-linked blockchain’s interlocking parts. It thanked validators for moving quickly. “We are humbled by the speed and collaboration from the community to freeze funds,” one tweet read. The specter of an attack rocked BSC’s native BNB token, which after a sleepy day of trading dipped to $280.40 from $293.10, according to CoinMarketCap, which Binance owns. On-chain data shows that this afternoon two massive withdrawals of 1 million BSC tokens from BSC token hub by an attacker that nabbed crypto assets with cross-chains swaps, bridges, and borrows. Regardless, BNB’s Twitter promised “all funds are safe” and said it will “help freeze any transfers.” Twitter sleuths point out that Tether – the largest stablecoin provider – has blacklisted the offending address, suggesting that the firm suspects the movement of tokens was the result of an attack rather than something more benign. ServiceNow Acquires ElasticSearch Alternative, Observability Startup Era Software – ChannelE2E https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/servicenow-acquires-elasticsearch-alternative-observability-startup-era-software-channele2e/ by Joe Panettieri • Oct 6, 2022 ServiceNow is acquiring Era Software, which positions itself as an ElasticSearch alternative for observability, log management and cybersecurity use cases. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This is technology M&A deal number 872 that ChannelE2E has covered so far in 2022. See more than 2,000 technology M&A deals involving MSPs, MSSPs & IT service providers listed here. See all ServiceNow acquisitions listed here. ServiceNow Acquires Era Software: Background and Use Cases Era Software, founded in 2019, is based in Seattle, Washington. The company has 47 employees listed on LinkedIn. Era Software raised $15.25 million in 2021, led by Playground Global, and had raised about $22 million in total since inception. Era Software allows organizations to “manage their data in real time, at a high scale, and at up to 90% lower cost than alternatives,” the company asserts. As a result, IT and security organizations can “innovate faster with unified access to observability data,” the seller adds. ServiceNow will align Era Software with the Lightstep acquisition of 2021. The Lightstep deal had some implications for unified IT service management (ITSM) and application monitoring. But ServiceNow has also extended far beyond the ITSM market in recent years, emphasizing workflow automation across finance, HR, SecOps and other operational departments. Looking ahead, the combined Era-Lightstep solutions will accelerate “ServiceNow’s path toward unified telemetry (logs, metrics, traces),” the buyer said. Executive Perspectives In a prepared statement about the deal, Ben Sigelman, general manager of ServiceNow’s Lightstep business unit, said: “Digital transformation succeeds or fails based on unified observability. Together, ServiceNow and Era Software are set up to deliver a unified and seamless observability experience within one solution, designed to scale.” Added Todd Persen, CEO and co-founder at Era Software: “At Era Software, we created solutions to simplify the complex challenges of managing large volumes of observability data, with a particular focus on log management. We have always believed that observability should span across the enterprise. We are excited to join ServiceNow, as we further build a customer centric model of observability that can help transform the way people work.” MSP Software: Observability Options? Within the SMB-focused software market, few companies are discussing end-to-end observability and visibility use cases. One exception is Liongard, which continues to describe how end-to-end visibility will allow MSPs to further automate their businesses and thereby improve profit margins.

On Monday [Sept. 27] we put assets and people in Jacksonville Florida, Miami, Bradenton, Fort Meyers and Naples not knowing where the final storm would hit. Ultimately, once we knew the final path, we adjusted where those assets were. The storm then hit Fort Meyers at about 3:00 p.m. local. Best workplaces for women For the fourth year in a row, Tysons-based Hilton ranked at no. 1 in the nation on the recently released Fortune Best Workplaces for Women 2022 list in the large company category. In addition, three more Fairfax County area-based companies placed on the list in the large company category: Navy Federal Credit Union (Vienna) at no. 35; Capital One (Tysons) at no. 51; and CustomInk (Merrifield) at no. 74. Transforming Northern Virginia Fairfax County is home to six of the 12 of the most expensive and biggest development projects underway in Northern Virginia that were featured by the Washington Business Journal: Halley Rise; Reston Station; and the Reston Town Center expansion—all located in Reston; as well as The Mather in Tysons; Skyline in Bailey’s Crossroads; and Rivana at Innovation Station (Fairfax-Loudoun county line). “Amazon HQ2, while certainly large and always a headline grabber, isn’t the biggest, perhaps by a long shot,” wrote Dan Brendel in the article. “Some truly colossal projects, especially along Metro in Fairfax and Loudoun counties, have been lumbering away, or at least stirring, for years. These are the ones you should really keep an eye on. As the ‘burbs have continued to construct what they often describe as mixed-use ‘places,’ you don’t have to go ‘into the city’ anymore to be in an urban environment.  The idea is that people want to live, visit and work in locations with lots of stuff to do and places to shop and eat within an easy walking radius.” Check out the article to see photos and project details. Sustainable land development gift Reston-based Bowman Consulting Group founder and CEO Gary Bowman committed $5 million to Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering for the expansion of sustainable land development learning initiatives, Virginia Business reported. “The Bowman gift solidifies Virginia Tech as the premier undergraduate and graduate programs in the field of sustainable land development,” Mark Widdowson, head of the Charles E. Via Jr. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, said in a statement. “In partnership with the land development industry and through the generosity of Gary Bowman, our department has set the standard for curriculum innovation and experiential learning that will enrich the education of civil engineering students for years and decades to come.” Launch plans Herndon-based HawkEye 360 plans to have 60 satellites — 20 clusters of three satellites — in orbit by 2025, Alex Fox, the company’s chief growth officer, said this week, Via Satellite reported. The company said that the 20 clusters will have a global revisit rate of 12 to 20 minutes, as opposed to the 90 minutes now provided by the company’s five cluster constellation of 15 satellites. HawkEye 360 plans to launch a cluster each quarter and to launch the next cluster aboard Rocket Lab USA‘s Electron rocket from Wallops Island, Va., in December, Fox said. I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon Melbourne, Australia-based Swinburne University of Technology students are working with experts at Leidos to design a telescope that could be built on the dark side of the moon, Swinburne News reported. Six final-year students developed the telescope design, including building a prototype lunar rover that could help with construction. Why Does Every Fitness Influencer Suddenly Hate Seed Oils? Morning Brew
Why Does Every Fitness Influencer Suddenly Hate Seed Oils? Morning Brew
Why Does Every Fitness Influencer Suddenly Hate Seed Oils? – Morning Brew https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/why-does-every-fitness-influencer-suddenly-hate-seed-oils-morning-brew/ Holding up the remains of a bullet-riddled plastic bottle of LouAna peanut oil, the shirtless, jacked influencer Brian “Liver King” Johnson makes a declaration. “We just saved lives,” he says. Moments before, he emptied two machine guns into various cooking oils: corn, peanut, canola, and more, which are all “dangerous” and “destructive” for human health, he claims. It’s a perfect distillation of the latest diet trend: avoiding seed oils. “Seed oils” refers to a variety of popular cooking oils, including canola, soybean, sunflower, and corn oils. The public decrying of seed oils began as a fringe fitness forum quibble, dating to the paleo diet craze of the early 2000s. But it’s slowly leaked into mainstream conversations on TikTok and even Joe Rogan’s podcast, where the host recently called cooking with grapeseed oil a “crime against nature.” The common kitchen ingredient is now vilified as “industrial,” and its detractors have linked it to everything from inflammation to sunburns and Alzheimer’s disease, to the frustration of some health and nutrition experts. Some experts believe the anti-seed oil trend is sticking because it often feeds into larger conspiracy theories, in which powerful corporate interests have pushed a poison that is contributing to a host of physical ailments. Most medical organizations actually recommend replacing foods with high saturated contents, like butter and ghee, with polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs), which include seed oils. But for the conspiratorially minded, skeptical of any large institution, medical consensus can also be proof that seed oils should be avoided at all costs. Or maybe even shot with a gun. (Liver King isn’t alone in this endeavor: Tucker Carlson’s The End of Men documentary also features a shirtless man firing rounds into a lineup of canola oil.) That’s how “you get these very strange bedfellows,” Tim Caulfield, health law professor at the University of Alberta, said. Contrarians of various stripes, from anti-vaxxers to bitcoin enthusiasts, share a suspicion of industrial seed oils, as they are often referred to, with a derogatory emphasis on industrial. And an industry is growing to meet the rising demand for seed-oil-free products: Businesses are capitalizing on this new trend, addressing a market that contains both off-the-grid influencers and HODLers who yearn for a lifestyle untouched by corporate interests. It’s a trend that’s been bubbling in the background for decades, and seed oils are just the latest enemy. The origin of the disdain for seed oil (also known under the broad moniker of “vegetable oil”) dates to the paleo diet of the early 2000s. The lifestyle was pioneered by athlete and best-selling author, Mark Sisson. In his 2009 book The Primal Blueprint, Sisson championed a “back to the beginning” approach to eating, focused on foods that would’ve been available to cavemen from the Stone Age, aka the Paleolithic “paleo” diet. A component of this “primal” way of living, according to Sisson, is to “avoid poisonous things,” including vegetable or seed oils. The most insidious part of the standard American diet, he said, is “industrial seed oils.” Sission’s diet advice became wildly popular in the early 2010s, when it seemed like every fitness-minded celeb jumped aboard the paleo train, including Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, actor and podcaster Matthew McConaughey, and (perhaps less obviously) former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. In 2015, Sisson co-founded Primal Nutrition, a paleo-friendly food company that offered seed-oil-free products, including mayonnaise, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing all made with avocado oil. Just a few years later, Kraft Heinz bought the company for $200 million dollars. Sission planted the seed (sorry) for a changing food market, one that catered to niche diets, where fresh food rules and processed foods—including seed oils—were deemed unhealthy. The market for a primal lifestyle is growing and easy to identify: Just look for names that conjure up prehistoric visions. Amy Moring is the co-founder of Hunter & Gather, a UK-based wellness company that she started with her partner, Jeff Webster. The company’s most popular product is an avocado oil-based mayonnaise, which they launched in 2017. They’ve since expanded their offerings to over 30 different products—without seed or vegetable oils, refined sugar, or grains—and they sell their product on Amazon both in the UK and abroad. Like many who reject seed oils and other processed foods, both Moring and Webster claim that eliminating seed oils, along with grains and processed foods, have eased health problems. It’s a common refrain among those who have eliminated seed oils from their diet, including the colorful Liver King. The global market for paleo foods is expected to exceed $12 billion in five years. On this side of the pond, there’s Ancient Crunch, the company started by entrepreneur and health influencer Steven Arena. The glamorous Instagram feed for MASA, a brand under Ancient Crunch, looks more like a spread of vintage Vogue covers than advertisements for the product: tortilla chips fried in rendered beef fat. Arena’s startup story sounds a lot like Moring and Webster’s. He launched his company after he stopped eating tortilla chips because of the “cheap processed oils,” which he said always made him sick. He wanted an option that used beef tallow as the fat to fry the chips (tallow has become an increasingly popular alternative to seed oil, with some companies offering tallow-based sunscreens and lip balms), with nixtamalized corn—a generations-old process used to make corn digestible—and his friends asked why he just didn’t make it himself. Thus, MASA was born, Arena said. Arena’s customers are an amalgamation of several different groups, he said. There are macro-counting CrossFitters, moms looking for snack options for kids, and biohackers who use devices like Oura rings, Fitbits, and Whoop bands to keep constant tabs on their health. These customers tend to be people “who make decisions for health over enjoyment,” he said. Many of the ancestral-style diets are inconvenient, Arena noted, as they omit ubiquitous ingredients, such as seed oils, or in the case of keto, most carbohydrates. But his product is meant for people who want to make convenient but healthy choices. “It’s gonna be harder for you to accept that a problem exists if there’s no easy solution to that problem,” Arena said. For those who’ve sworn off both seed oils and fiat currency, MASA also accepts bitcoin. Become smarter in just 5 minutes Get the daily email that makes reading the news actually enjoyable. Stay informed and entertained, for free. As recently as three years ago, Arena said he couldn’t remember hearing the term “seed oils.” Now, a “whole host of influencers,” including Arena, focus on them almost exclusively. Their efforts seem to be working, with “seed oil” making its way to headlines in publications ranging from The American Conservative to Goop to VICE. Nutrition experts understand why the anti-seed oil movement has taken off, even if they don’t necessarily agree with it. A shiny TikTok-friendly anecdote, complete with before and after photos, is much sexier than evidence-based medicine. “Anecdotes are personalized and trigger emotional reaction,” Dr. Danielle Belardo, preventative cardiologist and host of Wellness: Fact vs. Fiction, said. As a millennial in the healthcare space, Belardo is trying her hardest to make rigorous scientific evidence cool, she told Morning Brew. But it’s not easy, especially in a social media landscape where contrarian claims about diets and their effectiveness are easy to access and engineered to spread. It’s much harder to make evidence-based medicine go viral. The claims made by anti-seed oil advocates, Belardo said, which often include links to inflammation, are “just not based on any scientific evidence whatsoever.” In fact, she said, the recommendation to replace seed oils with high-saturated fat products like butter and ghee is the exact opposite of what organizations like the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology recommend. “If someone’s making recommendations that go against expert scientific consensus, there’s usually an ulterior motive there,” Belardo said. Seed oils are a charged topic, and not just for normies on Fitness TikTok, but for academics, too. Kevin Klatt, a registered dietician and researcher at UC Berkeley, takes the side that seed oils are “probably not a problem,” and “might even have health benefits.” But he also offered a caveat: “But you have to give a little bit of credence to the residual doubt and reason that some people have different opinions to not burn bridges in the field.” Though Klatt does not seem particularly worried about seed oils, he stresses that some of the claims made by anti-seed oil warriors go all the way back to academic concerns from the 1970s. But the “scam of it all,” Klatt said, is that “nobody fucking eats seed oil” by the spoonful. Instead, when people cut out seed oils, they’re often cutting out fried foods and commercially baked goods, which have their own impacts on health. Klatt noted that the rejection of seed oils cuts across demographics, including gender. Nutrition trends are typically very gendered, he said, but seed oil discourse is “crosscutting,” because it’s been attached to issues ranging from “obesity to autoimmune diseases to neurodegenerative diseases,” and has found proponents in both strictly carnivorous and plant-based communities. Like a lot of popular diets, the rejection of seed oils is built on a kernel of truth. Take, for example, “gut health,” a phrase that only recently entered the lexicon. While there is critical work occurring in this field, fr...

Google Pixel Event Pixel 7 Pixel 7 Pro Pixel Watch And Pixel Tablet Launch Toms Guide
Google Pixel Event Pixel 7 Pixel 7 Pro Pixel Watch And Pixel Tablet Launch Toms Guide
Google Pixel Event — Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel Watch And Pixel Tablet Launch – Tom’s Guide https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/google-pixel-event-pixel-7-pixel-7-pro-pixel-watch-and-pixel-tablet-launch-toms-guide/ The Google Pixel event has just unleashed a wave of new Google devices, and there’s a big theme around intelligence and being helpful to users. The highlights are the new Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Watch (the first-ever Google smartwatch), but we also got to learn more about the Google Pixel Tablet.  For the Pixel phones, Google is focusing on sleeker designs and especially better camera quality and video features. I’m personally excited to see the faster new Night mode, Photo Unblur feature, as well as the macro mode and Super Res Zoom on the Pixel 7 Pro. Meanwhile, the Pixel Watch touts the best heart rate monitoring in a smartwatch along with Fitbit and Google features coming together on your wrist. The Pixel Tablet doubles as a smart display and speaker with the dock stand accessory, so it should be useful even if it’s across the room.  Here’s everything announced at the Google Pixel event.  Google event products Pixel 7 Pro: Google’s newest $899 flagship is sure to impress. The Pixel 7 Pro gets a Tensor chipset, 6.7-inch OLED display and lots of camera upgrades. These include a powerful 5x telephoto lens and new macro focus mode for closeups. The Pixel 7 Pro also gets its Cinematic Blur for video, which utilizes Tensor’s power to add an artistic blur effect and shallow depth of field to your videos. The Pixel 7 Pro can also lock on your subject while zoomed in with photos and videos. Tensor also powers the new Photo Unblur, which can unblur your photos much like Magic Eraser can remove things. Night Sight also got an upgrade and is now two times faster than before, meaning you should get more stable low-light shots. Finally, the Pixel 7 Pro has Face Unlock.. It works in tandem with the fingerprint sensor to provide authentication to unlock your phone using machine learning to recognize your face. Pixel 7: Don’t discount the $599 Pixel 7. While it lacks the Pixel 7 Pro’s larger and higher-res screen, the 5x telephoto camera, and 12GB of RAM, the Pixel 7 with its 6.3-inch 90Hz OLED display ought to still provide an excellent value. Thanks to the Tensor G2 chipset, you’ll get flagship-level performance with a swath of AI and machine learning smarts. You get all of the same software goodness that the Pixel 7 Pro gets. Google Pixel Watch: Google’s first smartwatch is finally official. The Pixel Watch is positioned as the ultimate accessory for Pixel phone users, bringing the best Google services to the Wear OS experience. Think: Gmail, Google Maps, Google Wallet, YouTube Music and more. But that’s only half the smartwatch’s story — fitness tracking is entirely backed by Fitbit. The circular Pixel Watch comes in three colors and one size, starting at $349 for the GPS-only version and $399 for the model with cellular support. Google Pixel Tablet: The new Google Pixel tablet features a soft-touch design that’s comfortable to hold and Android 12L, which is designed to give you a better tablet experience. This means more split-screen apps and more apps that take advantage of a larger display. And because this slate is powered by a Tensor chip, you’ll be able to leverage many of the same photo and video features offered by the Pixel 7. The coolest part is the charging dock, which transforms the Pixel Tablet into a smart display with more powerful speakers.  How to watch the Pixel event The Google October event will be livestreamed on October 6 at at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT / 3 p.m. BST, and 1 a.m. AEDT on October 7.  The best place to watch it will likely be on YouTube (opens in new tab) — we’ve embedded the holding video for the event below. But do keep track of this live blog as we’ll bring you all the latest news as it happens as well as our thoughts on Google’s latest devices and smart software.  Refresh 2022-10-06T21:59:09.129Z (Image credit: Tom’s Guide/Google) Budget phone shoppers have quite the conundrum now that the Pixel 7 is here, and just $599. That’s closer to a midrange phone price than a flagship one. In fact, it’s awfully close to the $449 Google charges for the Pixel 6a. The extra $150 buys you a new Tensor G2 chipset, as the Pixel 6a uses the original Tensor that arrived with the Pixel 6. The Pixel 7 also has a larger screen and more powerful main camera. But don’t just take this blog post’s word for it — a Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 6a comparison can give you the full rundown. 2022-10-06T21:33:38.660Z (Image credit: Google) In case you missed it, the Pixel 7 has one big advantage over the Pixel 6, and that’s a brighter display. In fact, Google claims that the Pixel 7’s panel is 25% brighter when viewed outdoors. And that’s one of the few complaints we had about the Pixel 6; it could sometimes be hard to make out the display in direct sunlight.  With every phone we review we use a light meter to measure the nits of brightness on a given panel, so that’s one of the numbers I’ll be paying attention to most when we’re able to share our results. The Pixel 7 has a claimed max brightness of 1,000 nits of HDR content and 1,400 nits of peak brightness, so it looks promising at least.  2022-10-06T20:29:24.495Z (Image credit: Future) You should definitely check out our Google Pixel Watch hands-on review to see if Google’s first smartwatch has been worth the wait. Editor Kate Kozuch says this is the Wear OS watch she’s been waiting for, and it’s easy to see why.  You get a sleek and minimalist design as well as full-fledged Fitbit fitness tracking on board. This includes the most accurate heart rate monitoring in a watch yet (according to Google) and access to a Daily Readiness Score, sleep tracking analysis and more via Fitbit Premium.  As you’d expect, the Pixel Watch also works seamlessly with with Google services, and you can use Google Assistant on your wrist. We’re just not fans of the chunky bezel and the band switching process.  2022-10-06T19:57:45.951Z (Image credit: Future) One of the big questions you probably have about the Pixel 7 is “how is it different than the Pixel 6?” Our Google Pixel 7 vs Pixel 6 comparison breaks down all the upgrades so you can see if it’s worth the hype.  Here’s the short version. The Pixel 7 has a slightly smaller display but sports a sleeker design and powerful new G2 chip that enables all sorts of cool features. These include a faster Night Sight mode, Cinematic Blur for more compelling videos and Photo Unblur for crisper photos with less noise. You also get a brighter display. All for just $599.  See our comparison for all the details.  2022-10-06T19:23:39.821Z (Image credit: Tom’s Guide) Phones editor Jordan Palmer spent the morning at Google’s store in Brooklyn to go hands-on with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. His take? These are more significant updates than they might appear on the surface. 2022-10-06T18:06:11.637Z (Image credit: Google) We’re going to see a lot of Google Pixel 7 preorder deals in the coming days, but AT&T is out of the gate with a good one — especially since it lets you pick up the Pixel 7 for free. You’ll need to trade-in a device to take advantage of AT&T’s Pixel 7 offer, but assuming it fetches the maximum value, your trade-in rebate covers the cost of a Pixel 7. If you’re more interested in the Pixel 7 Pro, you can save up to $800 on that device. AT&T requires you to sign up for a select unlimited plan. We can tell you where AT&T’s offerings rank among the best unlimited data plans. 2022-10-06T17:17:15.073Z (Image credit: Google via YouTube) Having trouble telling the difference between the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro? Our Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 7 Pro comparison has been updated with the info from today’s Google event so you can see the differences in displays, cameras and battery size. 2022-10-06T16:47:57.492Z (Image credit: Tom’s Guide) Unlike Apple, which keeps some older models around at reduced prices when it rolls out new phones, Google drops its old devices like the proverbial hot potato. Visit the Google Store for the aftermath of today’s event, and you won’t find the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro hanging around. It’s either Pixel 7 preorders or getting the Pixel 6a. The presence of the Pixel 6a probably explains why the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are goners. There’s only a $150 price difference between the $449 Pixel 6a and the $599 Pixel 7. Google can’t really drop the price on its older Pixel 6 without cannibalizing Pixel 6a sales. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are likely still available in retail channels and phone carriers, but unless you see a significant discount, you’re better off focusing on the Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro. Google certainly is at this point. 2022-10-06T16:27:07.863Z (Image credit: Google via YouTube) Surprised by the Pixel Tablet’s appearance during Google’s presentation today? It shouldn’t have been a complete shock, as Google gave us a sneak peek at the Pixel Tablet back in May about the same time it was showing off the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.  If you’d like to familiarize yourself with this device before its 2023 arrival, our Pixel Tablet hub has been updated with information from today’s Google event. 2022-10-06T15:55:28.977Z (Image credit: Google via YouTube) We’ve just updated our Pixel 7 Pro hub with all the details you need to know about Google’s flagship phone, which starts at $899 for 128GB. We’re especially excited to try the new 5x telephoto zoom and 30x Super Res digital zoom and put it up against Samsung’s best. Check out our hub for all the specs, release date, camera info, colors and more.  2022-10-06T15:30:38.563Z (Image credit: Google ) If you’re excited for the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, we have a guide on how to preorder the Pixel 7. And preorders start today. There you’ll find pricing info and early deals from retailers and carriers. For example...

Grayscales New Co-Investment Vehicle Aims To Capture The Upside Of Crypto Winter Bitcoin News Bitcoin News
Grayscale’s New Co-Investment Vehicle Aims To ‘Capture The Upside Of Crypto Winter’ – Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/grayscales-new-co-investment-vehicle-aims-to-capture-the-upside-of-crypto-winter-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/ On October 6, Grayscale Investments announced a new venture that gives accredited investors the opportunity to invest in the mining infrastructure that powers the digital asset ecosystem. According to the announcement, the co-investment vehicle is called Grayscale Digital Infrastructure Opportunities (GDIO), and the crypto mining firm Foundry will handle the new product’s operations. GDIO is meant to “capture the upside of crypto winter,” Grayscale’s announcement on Thursday details. Grayscale’s New Co-Investment Vehicle GDIO Looks for Opportunities Within the Crypto Economy’s Market Cycles — Day-to-Day Operations to be Managed by Foundry Digital The world’s largest digital currency asset manager, Grayscale Investments, announced the launch of a new co-investment opportunity on Thursday, a financial vehicle that aims to take advantage of the crypto economy’s market cycles. The new co-investment product is the first of its kind for Grayscale and the bitcoin mining, and staking infrastructure firm Foundry Digital will “manage the day-to-day operations” of the Grayscale Digital Infrastructure Opportunities (GDIO) co-investment vehicle. The Four Stages of the Mining Cycle, according to the Grayscale Digital Infrastructure Opportunities (GDIO) fact sheet. During the last 12 months, Foundry has been the largest bitcoin mining pool in terms of total hashrate. The firm’s mining pool captured 19.38% of the global hashrate this year, or discovered roughly 10,375 out of the 53,532 BTC blocks found during the past 12 months. The bear market has been troublesome for miners this year and Grayscale believes that the crypto winter can provide unique opportunities for investment. Grayscale’s investment thesis states: As bitcoin prices have fallen dramatically, leveraged miners have experienced meaningful pressure on their operating margins. In the coming months, we anticipate that some miners will be forced to liquidate their mining equipment. We believe GDIO will have an opportunity to purchase mining equipment at distressed levels and to profitably mine bitcoin in the future. For instance, the crypto miner Cleanspark explained this past summer that the crypto economy’s downturn has produced “unprecedented opportunities.” At the end of June, a report noted that $4 billion in bitcoin mining loans were in distress. Moreover, In September, Jihan Wu’s Bitdeer launched a $250 million fund to help distressed miners. Grayscale CEO Michael Sonnenshein says his firm has an edge above the rest that allows Grayscale to find opportunities within the crypto winter cycle. “Grayscale’s unique position at the center of the crypto ecosystem enables us to create offerings that allow investors to put capital to work through differing market cycles,” Sonnenshein remarked during the announcement. “Our team has long been committed to lowering the barrier for investing in the crypto ecosystem – from direct digital asset exposure, to diversified thematic products, and now infrastructure through GDIO.” Tags in this story Bitcoin, Bitcoin (BTC), BitDeer, Cleanspark, Co-Investment, co-investment vehicle, Crypto Winter, Digital asset manager, Foundry, Foundry Digital, Foundry USA, grayscale, Grayscale CEO, Grayscale GDIO, Grayscale Investments, Market cycles, Michael Sonnenshein, mining, staking company What do you think about Grayscale’s co-investment vehicle that aims to find opportunity in the crypto winter and market cycles? Ukraine Wants ATACMS, Long-Range Missiles The U.S. Says It Doesn’t Need – The New York Times https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/ukraine-wants-atacms-long-range-missiles-the-u-s-says-it-doesnt-need-the-new-york-times/ Ukrainian officials have asked for a weapon that can strike targets 190 miles away. But the Pentagon — wary of widening the war — says the ones it has provided are powerful enough. Send any friend a story As a subscriber, you have 10 gift articles to give each month. Anyone can read what you share. The Pentagon’s Army Tactical Missile Systems, or ATACMS, are all reserved for top secret war plans in places like the Korean Peninsula.Credit…Yonhap News Agency/Via Reuters Oct. 6, 2022, 5:50 p.m. ET Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pentagon officials have sent the Ukrainian military an array of equipment totaling billions of dollars. But one powerful weapon, called the Army Tactical Missile System, has become part of a debate about the limits of U.S. support for its ally. The long-range missile — known as ATACMS and pronounced like “attack ’ems” — can strike targets 190 miles away with a warhead containing about 375 pounds of explosives. It can be fired from the HIMARS mobile launchers that the United States has provided Ukraine, as well as from older M270 launchers sent from Britain and Germany. Ukrainian officials say the missile could help them regain Crimea, a part of the country that Russia seized in 2014. But Pentagon officials insist they are already giving Ukraine the weapons it most needs: Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, or GMLRS. And this week, a senior Pentagon official said that the guided rockets, which the United States has sent Ukrainian forces by the thousands, can reach most of their targets, even in Crimea. Why has this weapon been such a sensitive issue? It comes down to this: concern in the White House that Ukraine could use the long-range missile to strike targets deep inside Russia, and that President Vladimir V. Putin might respond by escalating the war, possibly by invading a neighboring NATO country. “We’re trying to avoid World War III,” President Biden has said. But President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine says the weapon is crucial to his country’s ability to launch a wider counteroffensive after its recent advances. He has also insisted that he has no plans to strike Russian cities or target civilians. What is this thing? The missile was developed in the 1980s to destroy high-value Soviet targets deep behind enemy lines. It was built as a rare guided weapon at a time when the United States mainly relied on “dumb bombs” and other unguided munitions for attacking targets on the ground. A spokeswoman for Lockheed Martin said that the company has built 60,000 GMLRS and 4,000 ATACMS to date, some of which have been sold to foreign allies. A senior defense official told The New York Times that the United States can more easily part with the less expensive guided rockets, given that the Pentagon’s tactical missiles are all reserved for top secret war plans in places like the Korean Peninsula. Because ATACMS is the U.S. Army’s longest-range surface-fired weapon, it has traditionally been used in missions approved by three-star generals for the highest-priority targets on a battlefield. Lower-ranking officers are allowed to launch guided rockets as needed in combat. What was ATACMS built for? The missile was originally designed to destroy enemy surface-to-air missile defense weapons by blanketing them with hundreds of individual bomblets. Today, the Pentagon has two versions of the ATACMS in its inventory — the cluster weapon and one that carries a single explosive charge. Because of the high dud rate of the bomblets carried in the cluster weapon version, the Pentagon would probably provide allies with only the variant containing a single high-explosive charge. ATACMS is also the Army’s oldest surface-launched missile currently in service, and a prototype of its replacement is being test-fired at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. That weapon, called the Precision Strike Missile, will fly to ranges previously barred by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. Since the Trump administration chose to exit that pact in early 2019, the Pentagon has accelerated development of the Precision Strike Missile, which is smaller and can fly much farther than its predecessor. Two can fit into the same size container that carries a single tactical missile. Has the U.S. used them in combat? Yes. The U.S. military fired around 30 ATACMS in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm, according to government records. They were used to strike Iraq’s medium-range ballistic missile launchers and surface-to-air missile sites. Those first-generation cluster munition versions could fly about 100 miles. Once over their targets, they released 950 bomblets. Image A High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, can be used to fire the guided rockets the United States has been giving Ukraine as well as the longer-range missiles that it wants.Credit…Fadel Senna/Agence France-Presse — Getty Images Why does Ukraine want it? One word: range. And given that it is the Army’s longest-range ground-fired missile, and that the United States does not have very many of them, providing it to Ukraine could be seen as a sign of America’s commitment to Kyiv. But there are trade-offs in terms of capabilities. Compared with the GMLRS, the version of the ATACMS that Ukraine wants carries an explosive warhead that is about 50 percent larger and can strike targets more than three times as far. The tactical missile is much larger though, about 13 feet long and 2 feet wide, and weighs about 3,000 pounds. As a result, a mobile launcher like the M142 HIMARS can carry six guided rockets but only one tactical missile at a time. Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the Ukrainians need the guided rockets more than they need to be able to attack at longer ranges. “Volume matters,” General Milley told reporters in July. He said that both weapons were “very effective,” but that right now the GMLRS were “really fulfilling their need.”

Twitter Vs Musk: Judge Halts Lawsuit To Allow Deal Closing – Al Jazeera English https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/twitter-vs-musk-judge-halts-lawsuit-to-allow-deal-closing-al-jazeera-english/ A five-day trial was scheduled to begin on October 17 and Musk was supposed to be deposed on Thursday. Published On 6 Oct 20226 Oct 2022 A Delaware judge ordered a halt to Twitter Inc’s lawsuit against Elon Musk until 5 pm ET on October 28 to permit the billionaire’s takeover deal to close, according to a Thursday court filing. Earlier Twitter had expressed opposition to Musk’s request that a judge halt its lawsuit against him and said he should close his purchase of the company for $44bn next week and until he closes the deal the litigation should head to trial. Musk said this week he would purchase Twitter at the price he agreed in April, $54.20 per share, but conditioned the deal on receiving debt financing. Banks are working cooperatively to fund the deal, which is expected to close on or around October 28, the court filing said. “As a result, there is no need for an expedited trial to order defendants to do what they are already doing and this action is now moot,” said the filing. Musk committed to buying Twitter in April, but soon soured on the deal. The social media company then went to court seeking an order for Musk to go through with the deal. A five-day trial is scheduled to begin on October 17 and Musk was supposed to be deposed on Thursday, although the parties mutually agreed to postpone his interview, sources told Reuters news agency. Musk said lawyers representing the debt financing parties have reassured him they are prepared to honour their obligations. Continuing the litigation would require a trial and appeals, and could drag out payment to Twitter’s shareholders by months, the filing said. “Twitter will not take yes for an answer. Astonishingly, they have insisted on proceeding with this litigation, recklessly putting the deal at risk and gambling with their stockholders’ interests,” the filing said. Musk, who is also chief executive of Tesla Inc, asked for an immediate hearing, according to a letter to Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick of Delaware’s Court of Chancery. Twitter shares ended the day down 3.7 percent, at $49.39, on the New York Stock Exchange. ‘A lot of mistrust’ Since Musk made his offer on Monday, talks have dragged on longer than some initially expected, according to sources close to the litigation. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said it “would be an understatement” to say talks between both sides were going poorly. “There is a lot of mistrust for obvious reasons,” he said. Major banks that committed to fund $12.5bn, or about 28 percent of the deal, could be facing hefty losses as the swift pace of interest rate hikes has ratcheted up market volatility and dampened appetite for leveraged financing. “There’s still some uncertainty based on whether or not Elon can find the actual financing to do the deal,” said Managing Director of Trading and Derivatives for the Schwab Center, Randy Frederick. Musk has raised $15.4bn by selling Tesla shares this year and is leaning on large investors for a chunk of the financing, leading to speculation over whether he will sell more of the electric-vehicle maker’s stock to fund the deal. “Financing will eventually end up going through one way or another. It is just a point of negotiating terms at this stage,” said Managing Director at Concenture Wealth Management, Robert Gilliland.

Currently, Hoefling has two locations on the same campus including Hoefling Truck & Tractor, which H&R acquired on October 3, and Hoefling Lawn & Cycle Sales, which H&R plans to acquire later this year. “We are looking forward to working with a great group of individuals as we expand and grow in this new territory,” said Steve Hunt, President of H&R Agri-Power. “The Hoeflings have a long-standing reputation of top-notch service and support. As we make this transition, we look forward to building customer and employee relationships based on that strong foundation.” David Hoefling stated, “To be completely honest, this process has been smoother than we anticipated it to be. The Hunts have a great family feel that we are accustomed to, and we are proud that they can offer employee ownership, as well as some excellent benefits that have been challenging to offer as a stand-alone dealership.” Lauren Wilson continued by explaining, “This will allow us to continue to acquire and keep top talent. While this is a bittersweet day and experience for Hoefling family members, coworkers, and customers alike, we feel confident the future is bright for our community we care so much about.” With the acquisition of Hoefling Truck & Tractor, this will bring H&R Agri-Power to 19 total locations, including FB McAfoos & Company: a division of H&R Agri-Power located in Benton, IL. H&R Agri-Power has locations in 6 states including Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. The Hoefling Truck & Tractor location currently offers product lines including Case IH, Kubota, Land Pride, Gehl, Great Plains, Lewis Brothers, Bush Hog, Demco and more, which H&R Agri-Power plans to continue to offer. Hoefling Truck & Tractor will begin transitioning to the H&R Agri-Power brand over the next few months. H&R Agri-Power is committed to providing the same high-level parts, service and sales support it offers as its other locations and that Hoefling has provided their customers for over 80 years. H&R Agri-Power is 100% employee owned and is excited to welcome Hoefling’s employees into the H&R Agri-Power family. Dan Price, who has been in the operation since 1980, will serve in the role as store manager and sales. Mark Frette will continue his role as parts manager, as well as Mike Cibak as the service manager. “My father, Geoffery Price, worked here since the 1940s and I’m looking forward to continuing to lead this operation as store manager,” said Dan Price. “I personally look forward to our continued service to the agricultural community in Daviess County and surrounding communities for years to come.”

What Is The Longevity Diet? Everyday Health
What Is The Longevity Diet? Everyday Health
What Is The Longevity Diet? – Everyday Health https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/what-is-the-longevity-diet-everyday-health/ While there’s a lack of research focusing on this specific diet plan, there is an abundance of research on plant-based eating. “There is abundant research — overwhelming, in fact — on the general health benefits of diverse dietary patterns that emphasize whole plant foods,” Dr. Katz adds. The other fasting-related aspects of the longevity diet — fasting-mimicking and intermittent fasting — are less studied. “It channels the science of calorie restriction and fasting, but whether this practice, twice a year, really does translate into altered longevity for humans, independently of other factors, is, of course, unknown,” says Katz. But animal research suggests this style of eating may hold promise. In the April 2022 issue of Cell, Longo notes that fasting-mimicking diets have been linked with metabolic and anti-inflammatory effects in mice. These results could reduce risk factors for certain diseases, he writes. A review published in October 2021 in the Annual Review of Nutrition states that intermittent fasting patterns such as time-restricted eating (which is a part of the longevity diet) is a safe way to improve metabolic health for people who are obese. Yet the jury is out regarding other benefits. For example, one study, published in April 2022 in the New England Journal of Medicine found that a time-restricted diet was not more beneficial for weight loss in people with obesity compared to a calorie restricted diet. Here’s a snapshot of some of the possible health effects of this eating plan. A Longer Life Given the name of the diet, this potential perk likely comes as no surprise. The element of the longevity diet that researchers have studied most widely is plant-based eating. “Research suggests one can boost life expectancy by 3 to 13 years by replacing the Western diet of red meat and processed foods with a diet that contains more nutrient-rich foods that include vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, and nuts,” explains Palumbo. The research Palumbo points to, published in February 2022 in the journal PLOS Medicine, notes that when people start the diet earlier, the gains may be even greater. Katz, though, adds a caveat. “The only evidence in direct support of longevity, per se, is observation of the links between dietary intake patterns and longevity in populations such as the blue zones,” he says. “There are, for obvious reasons, no intervention studies or randomized trials assessing actual longevity in humans, as such trials would span the lifetimes or more of the researchers who initiated them, and few would be willing to participate as subjects,” Katz adds. A Healthier Heart Plant-based eating, which features plenty of produce, is a smart choice for heart health. As the World Health Organization points out, heart diseases are the leading causes of death worldwide. A review published in February 2017 in the International Journal of Epidemiology found that five servings of vegetables and fruits a day was associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. And even more servings per day (around 10) was associated with even lower risk. Another review of research found that the more vegetables and fruits people consumed, the lower their odds of developing cardiovascular disease, compared with people who ate only 1.5 servings of vegetables per day. Research published in June 2022 in the European Heart Journal found that a diet rich in potassium (from longevity diet–approved foods like avocados and salmon) was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular events, and especially helped women who had high levels of sodium in their diet. While fish isn’t necessarily a staple in a plant-based diet, it is a feature of the longevity diet, and fish is good for the heart, research suggests. For example, a study published in June 2022 in JAHA found that 3 grams of omega-3 fatty acids daily was associated with lower blood pressure. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a risk factor for heart disease, as the CDC notes. A Reduced Risk for Cancer Plant-based eating may help protect against cancer. In the aforementioned review in the International Journal of Epidemiology, not only did researchers find that a diet rich in fruits and veggies was associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, but they also found it lowered people’s odds of cancer. In addition, research published in February 2022 in the journal BMC Medicine found that those who ate a low-meat or meat-free diet (in this study, that was defined as meat five times or less per week) had a lower overall cancer risk than those who consumed more. A Lower Risk for Type 2 Diabetes Eating ample plant-based foods, like vegetables, legumes, and nuts is a key pillar in the longevity diet. And research published in April 2022 in the journal Diabetologia suggests that a higher total fruit and vegetable intake may be associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes in men specifically (there wasn’t an association with women in this particular study). Meanwhile, a diet high in red meat and poultry may increase your risk of type 2 diabetes, research published in May 2017 in the American Journal of Epidemiology shows.  Stronger Vision A healthy, plant-based diet may help prevent eye diseases that can come along with old age, like cataracts and macular degeneration, according to Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. For example, research suggests that high amounts of vegetables and fruits are associated with a lower risk of cataracts (yet there was no reduced risk for cataract extraction even among people who ate the highest amounts of fruits and vegetables). In the study, the “high” group of fruit and veggie eaters consumed around 10 servings a day, while the lowest group consumed about three servings each day.

Thierry Henry On Christian Pulisic’s Lack Of Chelsea Minutes: ‘How Many Managers Are Not Going To Trust You?’ – CBS Sports https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/thierry-henry-on-christian-pulisics-lack-of-chelsea-minutes-how-many-managers-are-not-going-to-trust-you-cbs-sports/ While Chelsea were able to pull off a home Uefa Champions League victory with a 3-0 win over AC Milan, it’s curious that Christian Pulisic didn’t feature despite Graham Potter emptying his bench. Pulisic was able to register an assist in Chelsea’s Premier League victory over Crystal Palace during the weekend. Still, with another match coming in three days against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Pulisic wasn’t able to garner any minutes to impress Potter for a starting spot.  Maybe Potter has already made up his mind that Pulisic will start the match due to Chelsea playing three matches in seven days, but when the entire front line is subbed out of matches, and Pulisic doesn’t play, it makes you wonder what his role is for the Blues. Pulisic has logged only 183 minutes across nine matches. He has started only one match and come off the bench for more than 25 minutes just once. That all adds up to him having limited opportunities to make an impact for Chelsea. Transfer deadline day saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join the club, and that has only made the bench more crowded for Pulisic as he now shares it with Kai Havertz. Potter’s preferred front three includes Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling and Aubameyang, leaving Pulisic to fight it out for a rotational place. Minutes are a concern with Pulisic playing a critical role for the United States men’s national team at the World Cup under Gregg Berhalter. While Pulisic will start for the U.S., without enough minutes for Chelsea ahead of time, he could struggle to make an impact.  “I think it’s a little bit worrying for Americans in terms of the World Cup,” CBS Sports studio analyst Jamie Carragher said after the match. “We talk about England as well when it comes to getting players up to speed, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be at his best in terms of fitness, energy, sharpness, or rhythm going into the World Cup. So I think it’s really worrying for him. I just don’t see how he’s going to get the games as there are so many players in those attacking positions. The most he’s going to get is minutes coming off the bench, and I don’t think that’s going to be enough for him to show his best in the national team at the World Cup.” With only three attacking spots, Potter could change his entire lineup and not include Pulisic in any game if he chooses to, but at some point, Pulisic also needs to use minutes off the bench to show what he can do. His assist against Crystal Palace was his first of the season and it came from Chelsea playing a 4-3-3 instead of the team’s normal 3-4-3. So if Potter sees Pulisic as a winger who can provide chances on the dribble when playing with a back four, Pulisic needs to show that he can provide that consistently.  Thierry Henry posed a question to Pulisic: “How many managers are not going to trust you? It’s got to be you at some point, so find a way. The other day Conor Gallagher came on against Crystal Palace — yes I know he gave him the ball and Gallagher still had to score that goal that will go down as an assist — but it’s showing something. That’s why Gallagher came on tonight because he scored against Palace away.” Pulisic is in a tough spot considering that he wanted to leave Chelsea to get more playing time knowing it was critical to his performance at the World Cup. Now that he’s still at Chelsea, he needs to do everything that he can to earn playing time as it won’t be handed to him. Pulisic will need to become someone Potter can’t let sit on the bench by outworking others in training and performing in limited minutes. If that happens, there is a path to starting matches, considering Mount also hasn’t been consistent and the Blues are playing so many games this season. But it all rests in Pulisic’s hands.

Houston Hospital Joins The Metaverse With New Platform – InnovationMap https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/houston-hospital-joins-the-metaverse-with-new-platform-innovationmap/ A Houston-born COVID-19 vaccine has gotten the go-ahead to be produced and distributed in Indonesia. PT Bio Farma, which oversees government-owned pharmaceutical manufacturers in Indonesia, says it’s prepared to make 20 million doses of the IndoVac COVID-19 vaccine this year and 100 million doses a year by 2024. This comes after the vaccine received authorization from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority for emergency use in adults. With more than 275 million residents, Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country. IndoVac was created by the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development and Baylor College of Medicine. Drs. Peter Hotez and Maria Elena Bottazzi lead the vaccine project. Bio Farma is licensing IndoVac from BCM Ventures, the commercial group at the Baylor College of Medicine. “Access to vaccines in the developing world is critical to the eradication of this virus,” Hotez, co-director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development and dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, says in a news release. Aside from distributing the vaccine in Indonesia, Bio Farma plans to introduce it to various international markets. “The need for a safe, effective, low-cost vaccine for middle- to low-income countries is central to the world’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Bottazzi, co-director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development and associate dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor. “Without widespread inoculation of populations in the developing world, which must include safe, effective booster doses, additional [COVID-19] variants will develop, hindering the progress achieved by currently available vaccines in the United States and other Western countries.” Bio Farma says it has completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials for IndoVac and is wrapping up a Phase 3 trial. IndoVac is a version of the patent-free, low-cost Corbevax vaccine, developed in Houston and dubbed “The World’s COVID-19 Vaccine.” The vaccine formula can be licensed by a vaccine producer in any low- or middle-income country, which then can take ownership of it, produce it, name it, and work with government officials to distribute it, Hotez told The Texas Tribune in February. Among donors that have pitched in money for development of the vaccine are the Houston-based MD Anderson and John S. Dunn foundations, the San Antonio-based Kleberg Foundation, and Austin-based Tito’s Vodka. “During 2022, we hope to partner with the World Health Organization and other United Nations agencies to vaccinate the world. We believe that global vaccine equity is finally at hand and that it is the only thing that can bring the COVID pandemic to an end,” Hotez and Bottazzi wrote in a December 2021 article for Scientific American.

Celsius’ Top Execs Cashed Out $17M In Crypto Before Bankruptcy – CoinDesk https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/celsius-top-execs-cashed-out-17m-in-crypto-before-bankruptcy-coindesk/ Krisztian Sandor is a reporter on the U.S. markets team focusing on stablecoins and institutional investment. CORRECTION (Oct. 6, 18:35 UTC): Corrects figures throughout based on documentation provided by CTO Nuke Goldstein’s lawyers, who showed that most of his apparent withdrawals were sent to other accounts at Celsius. Corrects range. CORRECTION (Oct. 6, 12:18 UTC): Corrects figure in the headline and first paragraph to $42 million. Crypto lender Celsius’ top executives withdrew a little over $17 million in cryptocurrency between May and June 2022, right before the company suspended withdrawals and filed for bankruptcy, new court records show. According to a Statement of Financial Affairs filed late Wednesday, former CEO Alex Mashinsky and former CSO Daniel Leon withdrew the funds largely from custody accounts in the form of bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), USDC (USDC) and CEL tokens (CEL). Over a dozen other executives, including the company’s Chief Compliance Officer, Oren Blonstein, Chief Risk Officer Rodney Sunada-Wong and new CEO Chris Ferraro did not make any significant withdrawals during that time period, according to the document, one of several filed to the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Mashinsky withdrew about $10 million in cryptocurrency in May 2022. Leon withdrew about $7 million (and an additional $4 million worth of CEL denoted as “collateral”) between May 27 and May 31. Initially, it appeared that current CTO Nuke Goldstein withdrew around $13 million (and an additional $7.8 million worth of CEL denoted “collateral”). However, matching transactions through different affiliated entities suggest that in reality, Goldstein moved his holdings to and from different accounts, all maintained with Celsius. The net amount he took out from his personal account is around $550,000, mostly in ETH. A related party of Goldstein, Bits of Sunshine LLC, withdrew a combined $5.7 million in CEL on May 9, 11, 13 and 25 from a custody account. The majority of these funds were likewise deposited into his personal account at Celsius, which he put up as collateral. Celsius filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July after it halted all user withdrawals citing “extreme market conditions” a month before. Wednesday’s documents are the latest development around the beleaguered crypto lender as its bankruptcy case heats up. An independent examiner, appointed by the U.S. Trustee’s office, is currently investigating why Celsius fell apart and how it managed and stored customer deposits. Mashinsky and Leon resigned from the lender within the last two weeks. Earlier this week, the Financial Times reported that Mashinsky withdrew $10 million in crypto before Celsius froze withdrawals. Key members of the lender’s management talked about fresh restructuring plans that involved turning the firm’s debt into tokens and a potential pivot to crypto custody, according to audio recordings leaked to the media. However, the court is moving forward with auctioning off Celsius’ assets later this month. The bankruptcy court ordered Celsius to update the Unsecured Creditors Committee (UCC), which represents all customers whom Celsius owes assets, about its financial status and cash management on a regular basis, according to another court document filed Wednesday. The lender must disclose its monthly budget and cash balance, spending on wages, taxes among other figures, and various performance metrics about its bitcoin mining business and any proceedings from sales of BTC mined by the firm’s mining facilities. The firm also must obtain permission from the UCC for any “critical vendor payment” above $50,000. The next hearing for the bankruptcy case is scheduled for later this week, Oct. 7 at 10 am E.T. U.S. Dollar Posts Steep Gains As Investors Brace For Non-Farm Payrolls – Reuters https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-dollar-posts-steep-gains-as-investors-brace-for-non-farm-payrolls-reuters/ Dollar index up for 2nd day; focus on U.S. jobs Fed’s Evans says policy rate could head to 4.5%-4.75% Euro falls after ECB minutes NEW YORK, Oct 6 (Reuters) – The dollar rose on Thursday, climbing for a second straight session, as investors bet on another strong U.S. non-farm payrolls report that should keep the Federal Reserve on an aggressive tightening path for some time. The dollar index , which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, surged more than 1% to 112.22 and was up about 17% for the year so far. “The dollar is on a roll again as stocks slump and recession fears hammer European currencies,” said Joe Manimbo, senior market analyst, at payments company Convera in Washington. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com “The buck’s pop also reflects the market betting on another solid jobs report that reinforces the Fed’s hawkish rate path.” U.S. non-farm payrolls for September are due to be released on Friday, with economists forecasting a headline print of 250,000 new jobs, compared with 315,000 in August. Chicago Fed President Charles Evans on Thursday said the Fed’s policy rate is likely headed to 4.5%-4.75% by the spring of 2023 as the Fed increases borrowing costs to bring down too-high inflation. read more The euro was down 0.9% against the dollar at $0.9794, earlier falling after the release of European Central Bank minutes from last month’s meeting that showed policymakers were worried that inflation could get stuck at exceptionally high levels. Separately, a source told Reuters on Thursday, citing provisional figures, that the German government expects Europe’s largest economy to slide into recession next year, contracting 0.4% as an energy crisis, rising prices and supply bottlenecks take their toll. Sterling was down 1.5% versus the dollar at $1.1151. The euro also firmed against the pound, up 0.7% at 87.83 pence. Against the yen, the dollar rose 0.3% to 145.05. It hit a session high of 145.135, not far from a 24-year peak of 145.90 yen touched on Sept. 22, which triggered a yen-buying intervention from Japanese authorities. Against the Swiss franc, the dollar rose 0.8% to 0.9906 francs . Currency markets have struggled to find a clear direction this week, following a dramatic third quarter. The dollar initially slid against most majors, before regaining ground. “It’s the calm before the storm – the non-farm payrolls storm,” said Edward Moya, senior market analyst at OANDA in New York. “Everyone knows the Fed has been consistent with their messaging. The Fed is not done bringing down inflation, and they are locked into this aggressive rate-hiking campaign that will only change once we start to see inflation come down.” A major factor driving currency markets currently has been changing expectations of how aggressively central banks’ – particularly the Fed – will raise interest rates. A key question is whether policymakers will pivot from primarily worrying about inflation to also considering slowing economic growth, and possibly leading to more cautious interest rate hikes. U.S. inflation data next week will be closely watched. U.S benchmark Treasury yields whose recent gains had helped drive the greenback higher, were up about 6 basis points at 3.8175%. The Australian dollar was down 1.12% against the greenback at US$0.6412, still struggling after an unexpectedly modest 25 bp hike in Australia. You Can Now Book Your Entire JetBlue Vacation Packages With TrueBlue Points — Here’s How – Travel + Leisure https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/you-can-now-book-your-entire-jetblue-vacation-packages-with-trueblue-points-heres-how-travel-leisure/ “Our loyal customers can now turn their TrueBlue points into a much-needed vacation by booking three significant parts of their trip – flights, hotels and even cars…” Published on October 6, 2022 Photo: Cesar Rodriguez/Getty Images JetBlue customers will now be able to use points to pay for their entire vacation packages, making it more affordable to book a dream trip. The airline will now allow members of its TrueBlue program to use either cash or points to pay for an entire JetBlue Vacations trip, allowing them to book the flight, hotel, or car rental with points, according to the company. Previously, travelers could only pay for the flight portion of their trip with points.  “Launching a cash + points redemption option for JetBlue Vacations packages offers even more value and flexibility for customers who are ready to return to travel in a big way,” Andres Barry, the president of JetBlue Travel Products, said in a statement. “Our loyal customers can now turn their TrueBlue points into a much-needed vacation by booking three significant parts of their trip – flights, hotels and even cars – with the only thing left to worry about when they get there is which beach to visit first.” Travelers who pay for an entire vacation package with points will still have to pay for insurance and certain taxes and fees with cash. Points also can’t be redeemed for a flight and cruise package with the company. Customers can choose how many points they want to put toward their vacation starting with as few as 500 points by using a slider when they book on the website. Travelers who book a trip with JetBlue Vacations receive perks like a free inflight drink and earlier boarding times. They are also offered access in certain destinations to a network of “insiders” who can help with everything from activity recommendations to restaurant reservations.  Last month, JetBlue launched a new app, Troupe, to make planning group trips much easier. The app allows multiple parties to build the concept of a group trip together so travelers can collectively pick dates, the destination, accommodations, and even activities. Thanks for your feedback! %
