Passenger Was Stranded At The Airport After Airline Staff Forgot To Load Their Wheelchair – Insider https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/passenger-was-stranded-at-the-airport-after-airline-staff-forgot-to-load-their-wheelchair-insider/ Xavi Santiago said they were stranded at a Florida airport after American Airlines staff forgot to load their wheelchair. Santiago said they waited in the baggage claim area for about five hours, convinced their chair was lost. “This is not a lost bag. This is my mobility. These are like my legs,” they told Insider. Loading Something is loading. A passenger who flew on American Airlines said they were stranded at the Airport after the airline employees forgot to load their wheelchair. “The entire time, I had no idea if my chair was going to show up. If it was going to be damaged, what was going to happen,” Xavi Santiago, 23, told Insider.”This is not a lost bag. This is my mobility. These are like my legs.” Santiago, who posted about their travel experience in a vial TikTok video said they along with their partner and friends were stranded at the Orlando Airport for almost five hours. The group, which was on vacation, was unable to leave because they were told that Santiago’s power wheelchair was not loaded onto their one-way flight from Los Angeles, California, to Orlando, Florida. A week before departure, the flight had changed to include a layover in Miami, Florida, Santiago said.  “When I booked my flight, I booked a one-way potentially because I am very aware of airlines and how they treat disabled people,”  Santiago said. “I know disabled people who have had their mobility aids broken, damaged, or lost by airlines.” In their layover in Miami, Santiago said they were unable to pre-board, which is a common accommodation for disabled passengers. “That’s always how it goes, I pre-board, I get transferred while the plane is still empty or while other disabled people or other people who are pre-boarding are still getting on,” Santiago said. “That didn’t happen. There was no wheelchair attendant or accessible attendant to get me into the transfer seat.” When Santiago finally made it on the plane, they said they had to squeeze past other passengers to get to the back of the plane to their seats. Santiago said that after an hour-long flight, they arrived in Orlando at 6 pm to find their wheelchair missing and were escorted to the waiting area where their partner was told the chair was not boarded on the connecting flight. “I was really freaking out because getting on the plane was such a mess. I was really worried that my chair still wasn’t here,” Santiago said. “No one was explaining anything to me.” Santiago told Insider they were angry by the airline staff only communicating with their partner. “I constantly have feelings of really not being seen as a person,” Santiago said. “I know it’s a common feeling for a lot of disabled people is they think that because you have physical disabilities, that it means that you’re any less capable or any less competent. And I sure as hell am not either of those things.” While a staff member offered Santiago a temporary wheelchair, they said the airline employee could not find one that could be taken outside of the airport. They would have to wait at the baggage claim area until their wheelchair arrived on the next flight at 9:30, Santiago said.  “I went down in one of the temporary wheelchairs and was trying to sort out getting just a temporary chair that I could use to get to the hotel and they couldn’t find anything,” Santiago said. “They couldn’t find even a manual wheelchair that was my size, that they could get to me.” Santiago, who said they paid more than $22,000 for their electric chair, said they feared they would never see it again and be stuck on vacation without mobility.  “I was convinced that it was not going to make it on the flight and that if I got it back, it was going to be damaged. Just with how many people told me that they hadn’t seen my chair,” Santiago said.  Passengers with disabilities repeatedly call out about harrowing experiences with air travel According to a report from the Department of Transportation published in July, US airlines saw a 108% increase in complaints from flyers with disabilities, from 76 in May 2019 to 158 in the same month this year. A passenger who also flew with American Airlines in July accused the airline crew of destroying his wheelchair and then severely damaging its replacement, costing him  $65,000. Writer and poet Allegra Keys, said her power wheelchair was severely damaged and left inoperable after she flew on Alaska Airlines in September.  US lawmaker Jim Langevin of Rhode Island was barred from his flight twice this year after airline staff thought his power wheelchair violated safety regulations. As US airlines damage thousands of wheelchairs every year, disability advocates and wheelchair users who fly often have urged a shift in the narrative regarding wheelchairs, Insider’s Bethany Dawson previously reported. Rather than saying wheelchairs are being broken, they should be viewed as a part of the body that is being destroyed.  Senator Tammy Duckworth, who also travels using a wheelchair, proposed a new policy last year that requires airlines to report wheelchair breaks and other among other incidents to the Civil Aviation Authority.  “Wheelchairs should be treated like a human limb because they’re my legs,” says Sen. Duckworth previously told  Insider. “When you break my wheelchair, or you lose my wheelchair, you’ve taken away my legs.” ‘Taking up space as a disabled person is the way’ After nearly five hours of discomfort waiting in the luggage area, Santiago said their chair finally arrived at the airport about an hour after midnight.  “I couldn’t leave the airport. It was really difficult for me to get moved and go to the bathroom, hard for me to transfer in and out because the chair isn’t my own. It’s not made to meet my needs,” Santiago said. “I was just uncomfortable and stuck there for several, and it was awful.” American Airlines did not respond to requests for comment. Santiago said American Airlines offered them $300 of in-flight credit in compensation but they refuse to fly American Airlines again.  “While there is a part of me that wants to use the bare minimum of what they’ll give me, I barely want to fly again,” Santiago said. “I really don’t think I’ll ever fly with American Airlines, and I sure as hell am never going to the Miami airport again.” Santiago said that all the positive feedback they received from their TikTok video calling out American Airlines made her feel seen and heard.  “The only way that people will listen to us sometimes is if we are abrasive, if we are angry, if we are pushing and that’s okay,” Santiago said. “It’s something that I have to remind myself of constantly, but taking up space as a disabled person is the way.” They added: “There is nothing wrong with taking up just as much space as able-bodied people and asking and not even asking, demanding for the support and access that we need in order to do the same things as able-bodied people, to travel, to live, to exist and to enjoy our lives. We are deserving of those things.” %

Business Growth Requires Effective Change Management MedCity News
Business Growth Requires Effective Change Management MedCity News
Business Growth Requires Effective Change Management – MedCity News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/business-growth-requires-effective-change-management-medcity-news/ Change is all around us. From technological innovations to cultural shifts in the ways we live, play, and travel, our world is in a constant state of motion. Business is moving faster than ever, too, putting more emphasis on change management, which is now viewed as a necessity to guide companies through major adjustments. But how often is exciting and rapid growth considered a major adjustment? Rarely. And that’s a problem. Change management techniques are vital to bringing companies through adjustments in how we do business, how we must adapt to shifting business needs, or changes that have the potential to create discord among employees. Yet, all too often the need for change management in positive growth situations is overlooked. People assume that companies can absorb this kind of change because it’s positive, but change is change. Significant growth, especially in an otherwise fragile economy, can cause significant pain points for employees without the key components of change management. In fact, according to McKinsey & Co., 70 percent of change efforts fail, largely due to employee resistance and lack of management support. This is why change management is such a critical business tool, even in positive growth situations. Rapid growth looks different for each business Rapid growth is very definitional and unique to each business and organization. For example, rapid growth in a non-profit looks much different from rapid growth within a for-profit company; just as rapid growth for a startup differs from that of an established corporation. Growing 20 percent in one year might be huge for the emerging company, while 2 percent growth is impressive for the veteran firm. To understand when change management is needed in positive growth situations, you must first define what rapid growth looks like for your organization. Once defined, and realized, celebrate. Growth is a remarkable achievement that should be shared company wide. Make sure employees feel included, are acknowledged for their contributions, and you communicate to them what this means in terms of change. Be ready to answer the question, “How does this impact me?” Rapid growth can cause the following changes, which need to be managed across an organization: Expanding into other areas or opening new offices Becoming a market leader Employing more staff to meet an increased demand for products or services Changes to job roles to accommodate growth and new expectations Expansion to new customer demographics Culture changes Potential employee burnout Leading people through positive change Change management is defined as: “the application of a structured process and set of tools for leading the people side of change to achieve a desired outcome.” However, there is no one-size-fits-all solution or standard framework that’s repeatable from business to business. It is part of organizational behavior, and the process must be tailored to each entity based on its operating size, type, location, and the platforms available for communicating change. The communication aspect of the change management process is key, but, as is the case with rapid growth, it’s also unique to an organization and the culture of a company in terms of how you message, what you message, what you share, and how transparent you are with your workforce. Like most business processes, someone must take ownership of change management and convey consistent messaging. This could be the CEO, CFO, or CMO, and then further delegated across a team. The person leading the process must be ready to talk about the change that is happening and help people along that journey with clearly defined objectives, accountability, and responsibility for meeting those objectives driven through the organization. Ultimately, and especially in positive growth situations where there is reason to celebrate, you have to make the messaging personal to your teams, to your leadership, and to each individual, whether they are the person answering incoming calls or the person making the upper-most strategic decisions of the company. The messaging must be relatable so employees can embrace change with you and go forward with a positive and clear perspective. You want to take people along for the ride, but also propel them to be their best. Utilize technology, especially the platforms that you currently have, but understand that email, texts, DMs, and other forms of digital communication cannot replace a person being visible during periods of rapid growth and change. Too often companies do a big splash, announcing growth, and then go radio silent. Keeping people informed along the way prepares them and avoids catching them off guard. Measuring results from change management Change can create massive fluctuations in business and affect a company’s culture. The impact of change is really determined by the ability in which you measure employee engagement on a regular basis, not just during periods of rapid growth or when something isn’t working. When implementing any kind of change management framework, feedback mechanisms are necessary. You can use formal feedback forms and quizzes. Or you can have casual conversations with employees. Ask them how they are doing and how they would describe the company and the growth to their family and friends. Is what they would relay to others the messaging you have been trying to convey to them? When going through periods of exponential growth, companies sometimes get so caught up in the excitement that they often lose sight of what got them there in the first place. Always take time to stop and reflect and keep those growth factors in motion. This post appears through the MedCity Influencers program. Shes Living With Cystic Fibrosis But Eleanor McAree Continues To Ace Her Fitness Goals Sunday World
She’s Living With Cystic Fibrosis But Eleanor McAree Continues To Ace Her Fitness Goals – Sunday World https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/shes-living-with-cystic-fibrosis-but-eleanor-mcaree-continues-to-ace-her-fitness-goals-sunday-world/ Eleanor’s achievements have included several ultra marathons and scaling Mount Kilimanjaro She’s living with Cystic Fibrosis – but thanks to modern science and her own determination, Eleanor McAree continues to ace her fitness goals. Despite being born with the life-threatening disease which can cause severe damage to the lungs, Eleanor’s achievements have included several ultra marathons and reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. The 33-year-old is grateful for the strides in modern CF treatment that have supported her as she works hard on her fitness. She fell in love with running when her fiancé, Simon, encouraged her to take on new challenges as Covid first struck. “It was a disease that nobody knew anything about and it affected the lungs, and I had a lung disease,” recalls the Dubliner, who now lives in Greystones in Co Wicklow. “He (Simon) was coming back elated from all these runs. And I was feeling down and sad and not knowing what was going on.” Like her partner, she too started upping her fitness challenges and the results have been transformative for her. “I started getting the bug and what I loved about it was I could feel my lungs working. I was like: ‘Oh my God, I am strong. I am capable’. I just really started falling in love with running.” Eleanor McAree at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro Now Eleanor is backing a campaign for today’s World Lung Day, which promotes five steps – including physical fitness – to encourage members of the public to ‘Love Your Lungs’. Eleanor McAree during one of her events Eleanor, whose brother was also born with CF, has mostly been able to manage her disease, though it made her quite ill as a child and again late last year, and she frequently suffers from infections. She says she has inherited her can-do attitude from her family. “They just got on with it. I went in for my checkups. And I, unfortunately, was a bit sick when I was a kid. But they didn’t make me think that I was any way different. I just kind of got on with life. They were very positive about the whole experience – and then seeing my brother getting on so well.” Eleanor McAree and partner Simon Connaughton taking part in the Wicklow EcoTrail in 2021 “I got chest infections left, right and centre and I had to go into Vincent’s for checkups. I’d have an annual review, where they would do loads of tests. But again, I felt that was normal. I think for me, when it really hit home was when Covid came along – I all of a sudden was deemed vulnerable.” Exercise and fitness challenges helped her manage it all, and has improved her lung health too. “(It was) the joy of running, and my lung function has gone up a significant amount since I’ve started running. The last time I went for my lung function test, it was the highest it’s ever been and that was a massive moment.” In recent years, she and many others with CF have benefited from new treatments which scientists have developed for the disease. She and her sibling are currently taking a medication called Kalydeco, which is used to treat CF in some patients. “I’m 33 now and my brother is 42, and both of us are the healthiest and the fittest that we’ve ever been. And only recently they say that they think that potentially in a few years, it might not be a life threatening disease, which is absolutely amazing to hear.” Today is World Lung Day and the Irish Lung Health Alliance, a coalition of charities working to promote healthy lungs, has urged members of the public to take five steps to “Love Your Lungs”. “Our message is simple,” said Dr Marcus Butler, Consultant Respiratory Physician and member of the Irish Lung Health Alliance. “Please take the five steps set out by the European Lung Foundation which will give you a head start on protecting your lung health long into the future. “Whether it’s getting your vaccines, quitting smoking, limiting your exposure to air pollution, eating a balanced diet or being physically active – remember you are not alone. There are lots of reputable evidence-based information sources and helpful supports to assist you on your journey to better lung health.” For further information, visit www.lunghealth.ie

LSU Vs. Auburn: Prediction, Pick, Spread, Football Game Odds, Live Stream, TV Channel, Watch Online – CBS Sports https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/lsu-vs-auburn-prediction-pick-spread-football-game-odds-live-stream-tv-channel-watch-online-cbs-sports/ LSU vs. Auburn is one of the SEC’s top rivalries because it has a long history of wild and unpredictable games. And it’s no surprise that the 2022 edition of Tigers vs. Tigers is loaded with intrigue as well. LSU is coming off of an emphatic 38-0 home win over New Mexico, while Auburn narrowly escaped Missouri 17-14 in overtime in one of the sloppiest games of the season. There’s no doubt that this is a huge game on both sides. A road win over Auburn will keep the momentum for Brian Kelly’s LSU squad going after it recovered from the Week 1 heartbreaker vs. Florida State. Meanwhile, Auburn coach Bryan Harsin would love to move to 2-0 in conference play and show his detractors that there’s hope that he can turn things around.  Let’s break down the top storylines in the matchup and make picks straight up and against the spread. LSU vs. Auburn: Need to know Auburn’s OL woes: Auburn’s offensive line has been dreadful this year regardless of quarterback. T.J. Finley, Robby Ashford and Holden Geriner have all been under relentless pressure this year. That has to change for Auburn to be successful, but now it’s on its third-string center against one of the best defensive fronts in the country. Auburn has given up 7.25 tackles for loss per game and 2.75 sacks per game, which isn’t a recipe for success. It’s a big reason why the offense ranks No. 13 in the SEC in third-down conversions at 32%. If Auburn can’t block and can’t move the chains, it’s going to be a long night. Jayden Daniels‘ quiet success: The senior transfer from Arizona State has quietly put together one of the best seasons of any quarterback in the conference. He’s hasn’t thrown an interception, ranks third in the conference in completion percentage (73%) and is second in rushing among signal-callers at 65.5 yards per game (which includes sack yardage). It’ll be fascinating to see how Auburn’s front seven attacks him. Derick Hall is a stud off of the edge and there’s talent at linebacker on The Plains, but the front seven as a whole hasn’t performed anywhere close to expectation. LSU coach Brian Kelly has always been creative with how he uses his quarterback’s legs, so expect him to try to exploit Auburn’s front seven in a variety of ways. The Harsin factor: Harsin could have been fired as early as last Sunday if the Tigers had lost to Missouri, according to multiple reports, but the 17-14 overtime victory likely didn’t do much to fend off his detractors. The players won’t quit — they want to win more than anybody — but when programs have this much turmoil swirling, it can take a mental toll and send a season spiraling out of control. If Auburn comes out flat, that spiral is likely to continue. What’s more, I don’t trust Harsin to use running back Tank Bigsby for a full four quarters; he seemingly forgot that Bigsby existed after the first quarter of last week’s game. LSU will dominate in the trenches and wear down an Auburn team that simply won’t be able to keep up. Prediction: LSU (-9) Which college football picks can you make with confidence in Week 5, and which top-10 favorite will go down hard? Visit SportsLine to see which teams will win and cover the spread — all from a proven computer model that has returned more than $3,100 in profit over the past six-plus seasons — and find out.

The network is now renowned within the crypto community for its occasional blackouts, as several proponents have cited the pattern as a reason to steer clear of the chain. Following confirmation of the outage, Solana shared a document with instructions to validators on steps to take in order to assist in solving the issue. The network has been successfully restarted as of press time, and fully operational.  Despite the resolution, the network’s outage lasted for over 8 hours. Solana’s price has, in tandem with the majority of the markets, seen a dip within this timeframe. While it might be a reach to ascribe Solana’s current price situation to the recent outage, the asset has in the past undoubtedly suffered from a network blackout. Solana is currently trading at $32.98 as of press time, down 3.43% in the past 24 hours. Since its fall from the lofty position of $47.9 on August 13, the asset has been caught in a bearish pattern. The asset saw a free fall from August 13 to August 19 which brought it below the $40-mark. Solana has not revisited the zone at $40 since then. What Caused Solana’s Recent Outage? Limited information has surfaced on the root cause of the issue. Laine Stakewiz, a blockchain company running Solana nodes, recently shared insight on the matter. Several Solana validators stopped voting around 22:40 (UTC) on Friday. Operators received alerts of the issue and congregated on Discord to discuss it and find a solution. The network appeared to have been stuck as it was confirmed that new roots were not being produced. According to Laine Stakewiz, it was noticed that a validator shared an invalid block. The incident on its own oughtn’t result in a major issue, as it could be resolved by the network. Notwithstanding, the validator seemed to have been on two “instances,” with both producing an invalid block. The act led to the creation of a fork. The fork, in turn, resulted in an abstruse code path with validators stuck on it. Attempts to switch to the main Solana fork proved futile, leading to a halt in network activity. Upon discovering the core issue, developers noted that a cluster restart was required to resolve the outage.

US Delivers Proposal For Maritime Border To Lebanon The Washington Post
US Delivers Proposal For Maritime Border To Lebanon The Washington Post
US Delivers Proposal For Maritime Border To Lebanon – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/us-delivers-proposal-for-maritime-border-to-lebanon-the-washington-post/ BEIRUT — The U.S. ambassador to Lebanon on Saturday delivered a maritime border demarcation proposal to President Michel Aoun, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Speaker Nabih Berri on Saturday, as negotiations with Israel progress. Lebanon and Israel have been officially at war since Israel’s creation in 1948 and both countries claim some 860 square kilometers (330 square miles) of the Mediterranean Sea. Amos Hochstein, a senior adviser for energy security at the U.S. State Department who has been mediating between the two neighbors, last visited Beirut in September, where he expressed optimism after meeting with Lebanon’s president, caretaker prime minister and parliament speaker. Aoun’s office in a statement said U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shea delivered a proposal from Hochstein during a meeting at the presidential palace in Baabda. Lebanon will assess the proposal before responding to Hochstein, though leaders have hinted they could soon reach a settlement. Speaker Berri in an interview with London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper Saturday said the proposal “in principle meets the Lebanese demands.” President Aoun last week said in an interview with local media the negotiations could soon come to a close. Lebanon and Israel both claim some 860 square kilometers (330 square miles) of the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon hopes to unleash offshore oil and gas production as it grapples with the worst economic crisis in its modern history, plunging three-quarters of its population into poverty. Israeli officials are also set to receive Hochstein’s proposal, though no official announcement has been made yet. Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid expressed “cautious optimism” on the matter in a press briefing last week. A Lebanese official who attended the talks last month told The Associated Press that the proposal put forward by the U.S. envoy gives Lebanon the right to the Qana field, located partially in Israel’s domain. A part of it stretches deep into a disputed area. The official added that the main point now is how to draw the demarcation line in a way that stretches south of Qana. Israel set up a gas rig at its designated location at the Karish field. Israel says the field is part of its U.N.-recognized exclusive economic zone, while Lebanon insists Karish is in a disputed area. In July, the Israeli military shot down three unarmed drones belonging to Lebanon’s Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah flying over the Karish field. Hezbollah’s leader has issued warnings to Israel over the maritime dispute, saying that “any arm” that reaches out to steal Lebanon’s wealth “will be cut off.” The heavily armed group, which has fought several wars with Israel, has repeatedly said in the past that it would use its weapons to protect Lebanon’s economic rights. Hezbollah officials have however said they would endorse a deal reached between Lebanon’s government and Israel. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a speech Saturday echoed similar sentiments to Lebanon’s top political leaders about Hochstein’s proposal, and reasserted that the Iran-backed party will back Lebanon’s political leadership’s position. “God willing, if it reaches the desired and best result, it would be the result of national unity, cooperation, and solidarity,” he said.

Advocates: Speed Limit Technology Could Keep Women Safer On The Road – WSB Atlanta https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/advocates-speed-limit-technology-could-keep-women-safer-on-the-road-wsb-atlanta/ WASHINGTON DC — There’s a new push to require car companies to put speed-limiting technology in newly manufactured cars. Advocates say it will specifically keep women safer on the road. Research shows women who are driving and involved in a crash are more likely to be seriously injured than men. Some believe crash test dummies that simulate the female body will address the gender disparity, but others think the fix is not so simple. “Our crash test dummies have inherent limitations,” Jessica Jermakian, vice president of vehicle research at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, said. “We like to think of them as people, but they’re really not people.” “If we really want to have equity in crash safety, the answer is really going to extend beyond thinking about crash test dummies,” she explained. IIHS is now looking to data from real-world crashes and how to make a car less deadly when it hits another car. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] One way to do that, IIHS said, is with something called Intelligent Speed Assistance, or ISA. Essentially, it can either prevent speeding or issue warnings if the car is going faster than the speed limit. It is required on new vehicles in Europe, but not here in the U.S. “It is something they could put in the vehicles today that would help bring speeds down and reduce the severity of crashes,” Jermakian said. We asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration if it is in fact considering requiring ISA in new cars. Officials said earlier this year they requested input on these systems and will consider public comments received. We obtained a document that shows the auto industry lobby told NHTSA it should take this system into consideration. “Safety is the auto industry’s top priority,” a spokesperson for the Alliance for Automotive Innovation wrote. “Vehicles continue to get safer as automakers across the board test, develop and integrate promising new technologies including intelligent speed assist, alcohol detection and rear seat child reminders, among others. These innovations make the driving experience safer and protect lives or prevent injuries.” Reactions from drivers are mixed. TRENDING STORIES: Police investigating fatal shooting in southwest Atlanta Police searching for teen boy after his car was found at Georgia mal 1 suspect in deaths of Cobb deputies indicted on 9 charges “Everybody in California drives about 10 miles an hour over the speed limit, so I don’t think that would go over very well in California,” Paul Greenfield of Sacramento said. “Just like the little side ones that go ‘oh, you know, you’re going 50 mph in a 20, slow down,’ so I think it would be a good idea to have them in the cars,” Debbie Colby of Oregon, said. Safety advocates are also trying out virtual crash testing to be able to simulate a broader range of people in the car. The group VERITY NOW, which fights for equity in vehicle safety, said the government needs to act on all of this. “We keep researching endlessly,” co-chair Beth Brooke explained. “Why? Why? Why? And my question would be why not? It exists today. We’re not going to make anybody less safe by using it. Why not? Let’s keep advancing all of these technologies further, and we’ll save women’s lives in the meantime.” [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter] IN OTHER NEWS: Jorge Estevez talks to a family who rode out Hurricane Ian in their Fort Myers home ©2022 Cox Media Group

Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card Review: Solid Sign-Up Bonus With Limited Perks The Points Guy
Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card Review: Solid Sign-Up Bonus With Limited Perks The Points Guy
Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card Review: Solid Sign-Up Bonus With Limited Perks – The Points Guy https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/marriott-bonvoy-bountiful-credit-card-review-solid-sign-up-bonus-with-limited-perks-the-points-guy/ Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card overview The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card is one of two brand-new Marriott cards that launched in September 2022. While it offers a lucrative sign-up bonus, the overall benefits fall short of what you’d might expect from a card that carries a $250 annual fee. Card rating*: * Card rating is based on the opinion of TPG’s editors and is not influenced by the card issuer. Marriott now has six cobranded cards available to new cardholders, with annual fees on those ranging from $0 to $650 per year. The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card from Chase launched on Sept. 22, 2022 along with its nearly-identical sibling, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy American Express Card. The Bountiful card sits in the middle of the range of annual fees on Marriott credit cards, with an annual fee of $250. Sign up for our daily newsletter The card currently has a welcome offer of 125,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after you use your new card to make $4,000 in eligible purchases within the first three months from account opening. Beyond that, cardholders enjoy complimentary Marriott Gold status along with higher earning rates for hotel purchases and in some common spending categories. That said, the card is missing a feature that you may consider standard for a hotel credit card: a complimentary free night when you renew your card. This is often included with introductory cards that have annual fees less than $100, so does the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card offer enough value to offset that gap? Here’s a full review of the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card to help you decide if it’s a fit for your wallet. The information for the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer. Who is this card for? The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card could be a good option for those looking for automatic Marriott Bonvoy status but who aren’t willing to pay higher annual fees for premium or luxury credit cards that offer higher status levels. It may also be a good choice for people who want the consumer protections it offers when shopping or traveling — though these aren’t as robust as some higher-end cards. THE POINTS GUY Holders of the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful enjoy automatic Gold Elite status for as long as the card remains open, without needing to reach the normal qualification threshold (25 nights per year). Additionally, when you swipe the card, you may be eligible for reimbursement if your trip is delayed or an item you purchased is damaged, and the annual fee that unlocks these protections is lower than other premium cards. That said, if you’re looking to make the most of your points and miles strategy, you may have difficulty justifying the card — especially because of the lack of perks. Related: Which Marriott Bonvoy credit card is right for you? Remember that Chase has application restrictions that you should be aware of if you decide to apply. While this is a new card and we don’t have application data to confirm it, it’s a near certainty that this card will be subject to Chase’s 5/24 rule. If you’ve opened five or more credit cards in the past 24 months, and these can be seen on your credit report, then you will likely be denied when applying for this or any other credit card from Chase. If you’re interested in the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card but are ineligible due to 5/24, you may want to consider its nearly-identical sibling, the Amex Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card. Welcome offer: $1,050 in value The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card has a current offer of 125,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points for applicants who use the new card to make $4,000 in eligible purchases within the first three months from account opening. Based on TPG’s valuation of Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.84 cents each, the 125,000 points are worth $1,050. Remember that there are restrictions on new member credit card bonuses if you’ve had similar Marriott credit card products from American Express or Chase, or previous Starwood Preferred Guest cards from American Express. Be sure to carefully review the card’s offer details page to ensure you’re eligible. See also: The ultimate guide to credit card application restrictions Main benefits and perks The Bonvoy Bountiful card offers some perks that could make it worthwhile for some travelers: Marriott Gold Elite status: Primary cardholders (authorized users aren’t included) receive automatic Marriott Gold status as long as the account is open. TPG values Marriott’s Gold status at $800 per year. This is Marriott Bonvoy’s mid-tier level, and the most valuable benefits of Gold status are upgrades to enhanced rooms (when available) and a 25% points bonus on hotel spending. While many hotel credit cards offer a way to spend your way toward higher status levels, that’s noticeably absent on the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful card. Annual free night award via spending: When you spend at least $15,000 on eligible purchases during your cardmember year (not calendar year), you’ll earn a free night certificate that can cover a one-night stay costing up to 50,000 points. This is more valuable than those offered on lower-tier Marriott cards (which are capped at 35,000 points). However, those are available without a spending requirement, whereas the Bountiful requires $15,000 in spending per year. That said, there are some terrific uses of the 50,000-point free night certificate — though bear in mind that Marriott’s dynamic pricing may affect these properties, especially on high-demand dates. Elite night credits: When you hold the Bountiful card, you’ll automatically receive 15 elite qualifying night credits per year. This benefit can be stacked with the nights you earn with a Marriott small-business card, which will put you 60% of the way to Platinum Elite status. However, this only applies to business cards. If you have another personal Marriott card from either Chase or American Express, you’re limited to just 15 nights. Bonus points on each stay: Cardholders receive 1,000 bonus points on each eligible stay at hotels and resorts participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program. This is equivalent to an extra $8.40 worth of points based on TPG’s valuations. Travel protections: This card offers trip delay insurance for trips delayed by more than 12 hours due to a covered reason when you pay for at least part of your trip with the Bountiful card (which includes paying the taxes and fees on your flight award redemption). You’ll also enjoy baggage delay protection — which reimburses up to $100 per day for essentials while waiting for your luggage — and lost luggage reimbursement of up to $3,000 per covered person per covered trip. You’ll also receive secondary car rental loss and damage insurance, roadside dispatch services (pay per use), travel accident insurance and travel emergency assistance services, which can connect you to emergency service providers during a time of need. Note that there may be charges for these services when provided by third parties. Shopping protections: Purchases made with the card can get 120 days of purchase protection (up to $500 per claim and up to $50,000 per account) for theft, damage or loss of new items and up to one year of extended warranty coverage on warranties of three years or less on covered purchases worldwide (up to $10,000 per claim and up to $50,000 per account). Related: Your guide to Chase’s trip insurance coverage All that said, it’s worth mentioning what’s absent in the perks and benefits. In short, the card is missing a variety of things that are frequently found on cards with the same (or even lower) annual fees. This includes: A free night award given automatically on the card’s account anniversary each year. Reimbursement for the application fee for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. Statement credits for ancillary fees or other purchases. Access to Priority Pass lounges. While unlimited Priority Pass access is usually reserved for cards with higher fees — like the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express® Card and Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card — even the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card allows cardholders to enter a participating lounge 10 times per year for a lower annual fee ($0 introductory fee the first year, then $95; see rates and fees). Note that enrollment is required in advance is required for some of these benefits. Le Meridien Bora Bora. MARRIOTT How to earn points The Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Card has similar earning rates to other Marriott credit cards like the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card and Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card. However, there are some notable differences. For starters, Bountiful cardholders can earn 6 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar on purchases at hotels participating in the Marriott Bonvoy program, which matches most other cobranded cards. Then, you’ll earn 4 points per dollar at restaurants worldwide and U.S. supermarkets (on the first $15,000 per year in combined purchases, then 1 point per dollar after reaching this limit). All other purchases will earn 2 points per dollar. Related: Which credit card should you use for Marriott stays? As noted previously, TPG’s valuations peg Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.84 cents apiece. This translates into a 5.04% return at Marriott properties, a 3.36% return for the first $15,000 spent at restaurants and supermarkets and a 1.68% return for all other purchases. This is decent for loyal Marriott travelers who want to boost their balances of Bonvoy points, but it’s worth noting that other cards can provide a better option for earning rewards on non-bonus spending categories. ...

Cloudflare Makes Hardware Security Keys Accessible For Millions Of Customers – Tech Business News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/cloudflare-makes-hardware-security-keys-accessible-for-millions-of-customers-tech-business-news/ Cloudflare Democratizes Spoof-Proof Security; Makes Hardware Security Keys More Accessible Than Ever for Millions of Customers Because it’s Good for the Internet Cloudflare has introduced a new service to make physical security keys the most economical and accessible method for safeguarding their employees and businesses. As of 29th September, hardware security keys are an additional layer of protection and a method of MFA that has been proven to be phishing resistant. Customers will be able to purchase Yubico’s security keys, the most secure hardware security keys and most resistant phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA), at an exclusive “good for the internet” price. A Zero Trust security model means that no one is trusted, by default, regardless if they’re inside or outside of a corporate network. This means verification is required from everyone trying to gain access to resources on that organization’s network, including location, familiar devices, and passwords. As a Cloudflare customer, you can now purchase Yubico’s Security Key Series at a much lower price—as little as $10—through your Cloudflare dashboard. Larger corporations using Cloudflare and purchasing a multi-year YubiEnterprise Subscription for YubiKeys will receive a 50% discount on their first year of a 3+ year subscription. Through this partnership, organisations of all sizes will be able to acquire, activate, and verify using security keys with ease and convenience. Cloudflare prevented a breach from a SMS phishing attack that targeted more than 130 companies in July by employing Cloudflare Zero Trust paired with YubiKeys. While physical security keys help to prevent attacks, they work in conjunction with DNS filtering, browser isolation, cloud email security, and other security measures to prevent attacks, an assailant would need to compromise every signal. Dane Knecht, SVP, Emerging Technology and Incubation at Cloudflare says we are always looking for ways to provide the highest possible security to its customers and the Internet at large. “With phishing attacks becoming more prevalent, we want to help democratize additional security measures to further enhance the Cloudflare Zero Trust experience.” “We experienced this firsthand and wanted to make using hardware security keys simple for any organisation,” says Knecht According to Knecht working with Yubico is just another way Cloudflare is trying to make it as seamless as possible to arm our customers with the best Zero Trust security strategy. “Being a Cloudflare Zero Trust customer introduces an easy, fast and affordable way to implement security keys in your organization, and all part of our greater mission to help build a better Internet.” he said With the adoption of Yubico, Cloudflare is ensuring physical security keys are: Economical: Rolling out security keys can be difficult for companies with smaller security teams, or those that have just begun using two-factor authentication. By offering security keys at the most affordable rate, this offer makes the keys less of a financial burden on small companies. Simple to use: Setting up security keys is easy for participating Cloudflare customers. For Administrators, Cloudflare Zero Trust makes it easy to use your security keys with any Identity Provider (IdP) and integrates both the keys and IdP into a comprehensive Zero Trust solution. For employees, a simple guided prompt makes the action of touching a security key for authentication seamless. Security keys work across all devices, operating systems, and areas within an organization. Accessible: Now Cloudflare customers can order Security Key Series, supporting FIDO-based authentication, directly through their dashboard. The YubiKey 5 Series, available through YubiEnterprise Subscription, supports multiple authentication protocols, from legacy applications to modern FIDO-based apps and services. The exclusive “good for the Internet” pricing, helps to introduce the value and functionality of hardware keys to Cloudflare customers. Stina Ehrenvard, CEO and co-founder, Yubico says Yubico pioneered the modern security key, the YubiKey, and continues to set the industry standard, protecting enterprise customers and consumers from security threats. “Today’s attacks require modern MFA. Working with Cloudflare will help get more Security Keys and YubiKeys into the hands of their customers, to deliver on the combination of phishing-resistant MFA and provide peace of mind.” says Ehrenvard The promotion will be available to Cloudflare customers until December 31, 2022. Guest Column: State Must Address Health Care Disparities In Cities Like Gary – Chicago Tribune https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/guest-column-state-must-address-health-care-disparities-in-cities-like-gary-chicago-tribune/ In response to a recent RoundTable discussion with legislators and local providers on the health crisis in Gary hosted by Senator Eddie Melton (D-Gary), State Rep. Vernon G. Smith (D-Gary) comments on the community’s health desert and urges the state to address the harmful systemic disparities. Recently, I attended a RoundTable hosted by Senate Assistant Democratic Leader Eddie Melton, D-Gary, with healthcare providers and stakeholders of Lake County to discuss the status of healthcare in Gary. This was the first time in the recent past that Gary providers had ever convened to discuss the health status of our community. The response from the healthcare providers attending, as well as state legislators like Rep. Ragen Hatcher, D-Gary, was compelling and I also want to thank them for showing their support for Gary. This initiative to bring local leaders, lawmakers and providers together to craft a plan forward in advancing the health of Gary is greatly needed. By shedding light on the discrepancies of healthcare within the community, Melton is setting the stage for a future in which equitable health is accessible to all. Our collective actions remind me of a certain passage in the Book of Habakkuk: in order to create a future where all can have true quality of life, we as lawmakers and leaders must “write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it” (Habakkuk 2:2). We started the conversation but there is plenty of work to be done. Being Black in America is bad for your health. Being a Hoosier living in Gary is bad for your health. These statements have only become more true as the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the long-standing health care inequalities facing people of color from disproportionately underserved communities. A multitude of factors, including access to pharmacies, food deserts, mental health care and even public transportation can all determine whether someone lives or dies, or whether someone merely survives or thrives. Gary has all of these problems, including a drastic health desert. All of these issues can and should be addressed with cultural competence training, greater empathy and respect for those of different colors and creeds. However, none of that can be done or have meaningful impact until state leaders put resources and policy proposals behind addressing these inequities. In Gary, there are only five practicing pediatricians. Let me make that clear — in a city of over 75,000 people, there are only FIVE pediatricians. This is a deeply disturbing reality for all families and children who must live it. On the other hand, the city of Noblesville (with a comparable population size to Gary), has about 125 pediatricians. A discrepancy this large and deadly must be addressed as soon as possible, especially considering that Indiana’s infant mortality rate is 20 percent higher than the national average. It’s a well-known fact that the better health care a child receives early in life, the healthier their outcomes are as an adult. Furthermore, Indiana’s African American population already faces disproportionate rates of diabetes, hypertension and a decreased life expectancy. The sooner we can get our children on the path of a healthy life, the better. Post Tribune Twice-weekly News updates from Northwest Indiana delivered every Monday and Wednesday A lack of pediatricians is not the only problem facing our community. There are elderly and low-income residents that need to be cared for by increasing Medicare and Medicaid funding. There is a great need for more investment in crisis mental health mobile units. There are high rates of pollution further exacerbating health problems like asthma, gaps in accessing safe and reliable transportation that would allow patients to travel for care, and even insufficient pharmacies. In fact, I have heard rumor of a local pharmacy having more alcohol available than medication. That is sad and insulting to all. Each of these concerns are tied to the next systematically, serving as barriers that prevent people of color, the elderly and those from low-income backgrounds in Gary from living dignified and healthy lives. Systematic disparities require systematic changes, including government funding, adequate health funding, local partnerships, effective policies and increased research. While these issues may seem like exaggerated statements, data-driven research has proven them true time and time again. The healthcare situation within Gary is complex and sobering, but hope is not all lost. Just as Senator Melton stated, the RoundTable discussion was a great start in beginning to address and understand the health challenges our community is facing. Throughout my 32 years at the legislature, I have promoted a platform of healthcare, employment, education and addressing all other inequities Hoosiers face. I will continue to work tirelessly in promoting our health needs and concerns to the Indiana General Assembly. Our state has a surplus of over $6.1 billion dollars; there is no reason why we cannot use even just a portion of that money to invest in the plethora of healthcare needs that the community of Gary is facing. In closing, I want to state that, regardless of how much money you have or what your social status is, if you don’t have health, you don’t have quality of life. Physicians — I am asking you to stop being afraid of our community. Legislators — I am asking you to stop ignoring the needs of our people. Take heed of Senator Melton’s actions and the overwhelming response of providers and join us in working to put an end to these discrepancies in medical care. Equality in health care is equality in life. Vernon G. Smith is a Indiana State Representative for parts of Gary and Merrillville.

We Want To Utilise Metaverse To Enable Monetisation Opportunities For Creators: VP, Global Business Group At Meta – BusinessLine https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/we-want-to-utilise-metaverse-to-enable-monetisation-opportunities-for-creators-vp-global-business-group-at-meta-businessline/ As the introduction of Reels boosts engagement across Meta’s various platforms, VP Global Business Group at Meta Nicola Mendelsohn, emphasised Meta’s goal to utilise metaverse technologies to create monetisation opportunities for creators. Meta claims that since the introduction of Reels on Instagram in 2020, the company has been able to create a massive community of creators, which has also driven engagement on the platform. Consequently, Mendelsohn notes that creators can utilise Meta’s pivot to Web 3.0 to truly drive further engagement: from creating digital collectibles, 3D avatars, and NFTs, to utilising augmented and virtual reality for monetisation purposes. Monetisation opportunities Meta’s emphasis on the utilisation of Web 3.0 for monetisation purposes is novel, especially as presently, the majority of monetisation opportunities on Reels are restricted to product sponsorships and dedicated creator funds for a certain category of influencers on Meta’s various platforms. Speaking on Creator Day 2022 in Mumbai on Friday, Mendelsohn noted that influencers and brands can bring NFTs to a wider audience using their follower base on Meta’s various platforms. “We want to help create monetisation opportunities, such as bringing NFTs to a wider audience. By enabling sharing of digital collectibles on Instagram. We see brands and creators utilisation of AR, VR and in an amazingly creative way, which will only continue as we expand further towards metaverse,” she said.  “We are committed to being a playground where creators and users can interact and redefine engagement,” Mendelsohn added.  Ajit Mohan, MD & VP, Facebook India (Meta) who also attended the event noted, “We are big fans of creators. Everything we do, all our products and features are based on one thought: how can we empower the people who have a story to tell, an insight to share, a song to dance to? Without a doubt, a key pillar of India’s new economy is going to be built and fuelled by people like you.”

How Many Times Has Mad Moneys Jim Cramer Failed To Time Crypto Markets? BeInCrypto
How Many Times Has Mad Moneys Jim Cramer Failed To Time Crypto Markets? BeInCrypto
How Many Times Has Mad Money’s Jim Cramer Failed To Time Crypto Markets? – BeInCrypto https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-many-times-has-mad-moneys-jim-cramer-failed-to-time-crypto-markets-beincrypto/ It’s been said that “not all investors have the same investing style.” But Jim Cramer, with his contrarian strategy, arguably made many people poor. Now he has become a meme for his consistency in making wrong calls on the direction of cryptocurrency markets. It is hard to know whether the stock market pundit believed in the calls he made regarding bitcoin over the years. Still, many of those that listened to him likely ended up on the losing side of whatever investment they made. In July, for example, Cramer warned of a possible probe into crypto exchange Coinbase by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. “Very bad news” for the firm, he said. Just one week later, Coinbase’s stock soared by up to 50%. People got angry. But it was not the first time it happened. Neither will it be the last. “Never take financial advice from Jim Cramer!” crypto podcaster, Tony Edward, shouted on Twitter at the time. Shilling Coinbase Cramer “shilled” Coinbase in the past. When the stock debuted on Nasdaq in April last year closing at $328, he stated that a fair price target for Coinbase (COIN) would be in the region of $600. “This is all a scarcity, we don’t have any other way for mutual funds to be involved with crypto,” Cramer said during a discussion on “Squawk on the Street.” He recommended to buy the stock. However, It’s been downhill ever since. Coinbase closed up 4% at $64 on Friday, and is down 80% since listing. Who is Jim Cramer? Jim Cramer is an American former hedge fund manager, stock market investor, author, and entrepreneur. The 67-year old is best known for hosting CNBC television’s “Mad Money”, a show that claims to “provide stock traders with all manner of investing advice.” Cramer is seen as a so-called contrarian investor. He frequently goes against the tide, buying when everyone is selling. The thinking is that investors selling often do so in a panic, tending to overreact. This gives the contrarian investor a chance to buy stocks, or crypto, cheaply. It worked for Cramer at some point. He made a $1 million profit when he bought tobacco firm Phillip Morris International as the share lost $10 billion in one day after an unfavorable court outcome, according to reports. Alan Deutschman, the journalism professor and Silicon Valley correspondent for Fortune, has described Cramer’s investment style as “chameleon-like and erratic.” That’s because it could not be pinned down to a specific strategy. Cramer has also shown interest in cryptocurrency. He bought a significant amount of bitcoin in 2020 when it traded for $12,000. He sold 50% of the cache when the price hit $64,000 the following year, and used the proceeds to “pay off a mortgage.” “I will buy – like I usually do – as something comes down. I’ll get bigger and bigger and bigger,” said Cramer after he bought more bitcoin as it slipped to $17,000 in Dec. 2020. He proved his contrarian style. With an estimated net worth of over $100 million, the TV host has often issued mixed signals regarding crypto. But he also recommended that investors put at least 5% of their portfolios in digital assets, preferably BTC and Ethereum, which he considers “legitimate”. Cramer said recently Silicon Valley tech executives have started to consider the crypto industry a fraud, which benefited its promoters at the expense of retail investors. He followed this up with advice to “sell all speculative assets” like BTC, in part due to the Fed’s tightening monetary policy. Cramer’s missed predictions CNBC says Jim Cramer “plays with an open hand and wants to help investors invest smarter to build long-term wealth.” However, his forecasts on crypto markets have been anything but smart. People likely lost money following his tips. In June 2021, the finance expert urged investors to be “patient” with bitcoin as markets went into a tailspin. Ten days later, Cramer could not take the decline anymore. He claimed BTC is “not going up because of structural reasons.” “Sold all my Bitcoin. Don’t need it,” he told CNBC’s “Squawk Box”. In November of the same year, bitcoin reached an all-time high of $69,000. Earlier in the year, in March, Cramer boasted to have made lots of money from bitcoin as his investments in gold and stocks fell. He was bullish then. More recently, Cramer made calls regarding BTC’s bottom – meaning the asset had reached a price beyond which it could not decline any further during a market cycle. He now claims crypto has no “real value” and will not hold its total market value above $1 trillion. “Crypto really does seem to be imploding. Went from $3 trillion to $1 trillion. Why should it stop at $1 trillion? There’s no real value there,” he said. This would be fine if he a) was a crypto skeptic all along b) ack that he was pushing it when it was going up and got call wrong. Instead he’s a bandwagoner on steroids- last guy to praise stuff bf it collapses and last guy to trash it bf it rebounds. WHERE IS INVERSE CRAMER ETF? https://t.co/6tIMdNO1m6 — Eric Balchunas (@EricBalchunas) July 6, 2022 Following Cramer’s statements in July, markets rallied. July has been the best month for bitcoin so far this year. The top cryptocurrency closed the month with a gain of 17%, and Ethereum, its next closest competitor, soared by 55%. As the price of bitcoin tanked to $17,500 in June, he warned that “a lot of younger people and people who borrowed money, they are going to be gone today if they are not careful.” Cramer did not intend for this to sound like a “joke”. Madman in a suit excites crypto But the veteran investor has lost much of the goodwill in crypto. He is often laughed off as the madman of Crypto Twitter. These predictions – and more – have turned Cramer into the ultimate villain, cannon fodder for memes. His negative comments inspire excitement in cryptocurrency. Crypto trader Algod, famed for predicting the collapse of the Terra ecosystem and taking a $1 million bet on it, said recently that he was actively trading against Cramer. Algod revealed he “officially doubled” a trading account he started with $50,000 just so he would trade against the stock market pundit. “Honestly mind blowing how wrong one man can be,” tweeted the self-proclaimed “semi-retired degen.” Cramer’s “erratic” financial advice has also led to the emergence of the “Inverse Cramer ETF,” a fictional Exchange-Traded Fund which tracks “the stock recommendations of Jim Cramer so you can do the opposite.” The account reached 107,000 followers on Twitter. “I don’t care if a company is the next Amazon. If Jim Cramer is recommending the stock I will never buy,” accountant and financial news analyst, Genevieve Roch-Decter, tweeted after Cramer’s Coinbase miss in July. After Cramer christened bitcoin’s collapse in June “Crypto Monday”, predicting the end for the crypto industry, Dogecoin (DOGE) co-creator Billy Markus responded sharply. “Jim ya gotta shut up sometimes,” Markus replied to a Cramer tweet. jim ya gotta shut up sometimes — Shibetoshi Nakamoto (@BillyM2k) June 13, 2022 For Be[In]Crypto’s latest Bitcoin (BTC) analysis, click here Disclaimer All the information contained on our website is published in good faith and for general information purposes only. Analysis | Portugal Beats Paris For US Travelers Seizing On A Strong Dollar – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/analysis-portugal-beats-paris-for-us-travelers-seizing-on-a-strong-dollar-the-washington-post/ As the pound and euro struggle relative to the dollar, opportunistic US travelers might be wondering if it’s time to book an international trip, and maybe even prepay for the hotel. Who wouldn’t love a travel deal — especially after paying through the nose this past summer? But don’t think there are bargain-basement prices everywhere in the UK and Europe. Sure, the dollar may get you 20% more when dining or shopping, but in-demand hotels are still expensive. For example, high-end accommodations in places such as Paris and Capri have increased their rates by as much as 40% and are likely to keep them there, according to Melissa Biggs Bradley, founder of luxury travel agency Indagare. If the main objective is to stay somewhere special at a hard-to-beat price, you’d be better off in countries like Sweden, Portugal or Turkey. According to travel experts, those destinations are offering the best value when taking currency changes as well as airfare and accommodations into account. Take the Grand Hotel  in Stockholm , a five-star hotel overlooking the Royal Palace, with rooms for less than $300 a night from now through April. Spring break in Lisbon? A nonstop roundtrip on several carriers from East-coast cities will cost less than $500. For winter travel, Bradley suggests looking into ski resorts in Europe, such as Alta Badia in Italy, which might actually be cheaper all-in than domestic hotspots like Jackson Hole thanks to the strength of the US dollar. Still, if you have your heart set on a more popular European destination, there are things to keep in mind to make sure you’re still getting somewhat of a deal. First, think about whether you want to actually spend less on the trip than you ordinarily would have, or spend the same amount and “book up” — that is, stay in a fancier hotel than you had originally envisioned, or book a particular attraction or experience. Also, consider when you’re going. Fall and winter are considered the shoulder season, of course, so flights tend to be cheaper then. Last spring, airfare jumped 19% from March to April, a record, but has been declining month-to-month since June, according to Scott Keyes, founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights. Keyes says he’s doesn’t expect fares to jump as much as they did last spring, and instead, to fluctuate more within the typical 5% increase or decrease. Nonstop flights to London’s Heathrow airport are still close to $1,000 for most of this year and next, but if you’re willing to fly mid-week, you can save more than $300. And if you fly to Gatwick, low-cost carrier Norse Atlantic Airways currently offers flights as low as $400. Remember, there’s no set day or time to book your trip that will magically guarantee the cheapest airfare. The best advice is to set a Google flight alert about six months out from travel and go from there. If the price of a flight drops, you can sometimes rebook at a lower price and receive a voucher for the difference to put toward a future flight. That’s thanks to a pandemic-induced change by major US airlines that allows travelers to change an existing flight without incurring a fee. But you’re responsible for continuing to track the flight after booking and noticing that the price has gone down. And if you buy the most basic economy fare, you probably won’t be eligible. In terms of prepayment, you might want to think twice about paying for your hotel now. Sure, you’ll get a more favorable exchange rate and lock in a lower price, but it’s usually no more than a 10% discount and almost always non-refundable. That just seems too risky given the state of the world. Another helpful tip from Clint Henderson, an editor at The Points Guy: Check out combination hotel deals from airlines. Henderson says he’s stayed at high-end hotels including the Park Hyatt in Vienna and Adlon Kempinski in Berlin for drastically less thanks to hotel/airline package deals offered by American Airlines and Delta. You can sign up for emails from the carriers directly. Finally, if you’re shopping for luxury goods in Europe, keep in mind that you’re eligible to be refunded at the airport for the VAT sales tax included in the price of the item at the store, as long as you fill out the relevant paperwork. (Sorry, London shoppers: The UK ended the VAT refund in 2021.) Given the refund and the stronger dollar, consumers could see discounts of as much as 35% on designer labels bought in Paris or Rome compared to buying them at the brand’s store in the US, says Bradley. Just don’t get carried away and let “discount shopping” wind up costing more than the trip. More From Bloomberg Opinion: • Air Travel Is Awful. Letter: Congress, Biden Must Not Harm Utah Tech Sector – Standard-Examiner https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/letter-congress-biden-must-not-harm-utah-tech-sector-standard-examiner/ Utah’s effort to set itself up as one of the leading tech hubs in the U.S. is working. The tech industry represents 9.6 percent of Utah’s workforce and directly adds $20.1 billion to our economy. Yet, some elected officials are pursuing anti-innovation legislation that will threaten the tech industry’s potential. As we rise to the top of tech hubs, tech companies and entrepreneurs want to feel secure in establishing Utah as their home base and know that Utah officials will continue to support policies that promote technological innovation. Additionally, a new poll by NetChoice, an organization dedicated to making the internet safe for free enterprise and expression, found that 61 percent of Americans say the economy is the country’s biggest issue today. In a time of record high inflation, voters worry that regulating tech will increase prices, and 89 percent say Congress should focus on handling inflation rather than breaking up large tech companies. So why are elected officials pushing anti-innovation bills that will harm the industry contributing billions to our economy and creating thousands of jobs in Utah, only to increase the financial burden for consumers? This legislation will weaken our competitiveness and diminish the capacity for leading tech companies to invest in the future. Congress must listen to voters and focus on high priority issues such as the economy and inflation, not add to it. Utah should continue to be a place where technology talent, investors, educators, and businesses flourish. Abdiel Vazquez Ogden Newsletter Join thousands already receiving our daily newsletter.

COVID Cases On The Decline In Tri-Cities. Health Officials Question How Long It Will Last Tri-City Herald
COVID Cases On The Decline In Tri-Cities. Health Officials Question How Long It Will Last – Tri-City Herald https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/covid-cases-on-the-decline-in-tri-cities-health-officials-question-how-long-it-will-last-tri-city-herald/ Kennewick, WA The amount of COVID-19 circulating in the Tri-Cities area appears to continue to diminish by most metrics, but people are still dying from the disease and public health officials are keeping a close watch on the data. “Right now it is quiet. But (with) winter things change,” said Heather Hill, infectious disease supervisor for the Benton Franklin Health District, speaking this week on the Kadlec on Call podcast. Public health officials are concerned that trends could reverse during the fall and winter months, with a seasonal spike in cases just as there typically is in influenza and has been seen in the COVID-19 pandemic in the past two winters. This past week two more deaths from COVID-19 were reported in the Tri-Cities area, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 727. They were both Benton County residents — a man in his 50s and a woman in her 80s. They bring total Tri-Cities area deaths announced in September from complications of COVID-19 to 11. Just three of those deaths were in people younger than 70. Eleven deaths also were reported in August and 12 in July in Benton and Franklin counties. Just Lincoln, Garfield and Pacific counties have COVID-19 community transmission levels rated by the CDC as “medium.” All other counties have a rating of “low.” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention In the Tri-Cities, local public health officials verify that deaths are due to COVID complications by checking for a positive test result and that a coronavirus infection was named as a primary cause of death on the death certificate. It can take several weeks for the health district to receive and reconcile death information due to the reporting processes of medical facilities and coroner offices and the process of issuing and releasing death certificates. Tri-Cities COVID cases, hospitalizations Other metrics were showing more improvement. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rated the COVID-19 community transmission for both counties as “low” in its weekly rating on Thursday for the second week in a row. They are among 36 counties in Washington state with a rating of “low.” Lincoln, Garfield and Pacific counties are rated as “medium.” When ratings are “low,” the CDC makes no masking recommendations. The CDC bases its COVID-19 community level ratings not only on new case rates, but also hospital beds used by patients with COVID and hospital admissions for people with the disease. At the free drive-thru testing site for COVID-19 by Columbia Basin College in Pasco, the percentage of positive test results has dropped to 26%. Bob Brawdy Tri-City Herald file The percentage of positive COVID-19 test results at the free drive-thru clinic at Columbia Basin College off Argent Road in Pasco also is down. About 26% of tests are coming back positive, compared to 36% reported in August. September ended with a new case rate of 98 new COVID-19 cases confirmed over a week per 100,000 residents of Benton and Franklin counties. The number of new hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in Benton and Franklin counties has dropped, as shown on this screenshot from the Benton Franklin Health District website. Benton Franklin Health District That is down from a new case rate of 136 at the end of August. The number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 each week has had ups and downs through the month, but the last report was 21 people hospitalized in a week at the Richland, Kennewick, Pasco and Prosser hospitals. That is down from 28 the last week of August. One of the most accurate ways of assessing the prevalence of the coronavirus is the weekly check of untreated municipal wastewater in the Tri-Cities. The most recent concentration reported is about the same as four weeks ago for samples collected from Richland, Kennewick, Pasco and West Richland. It is about half the concentration reported during the winter omicron peak. New MMGY Travel Research Highlights A Tale Of Two Travelers – Hospitality Net https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/new-mmgy-travel-research-highlights-a-tale-of-two-travelers-hospitality-net/ New research by MMGY Travel Intelligence shows that inflation and the rising cost of travel are convincing some Americans to stay put, while Boomers and higher-income households plan to keep traveling and will likely increase their spending on travel over the next year. This traveler dichotomy is just one of the key findings released this week as part of the research firm’s 2022 Portrait of American Travelers® “Fall Edition” survey, which examines the intentions and behaviors of more than 4,500 adult survey respondents. Overall, 63% of U.S. travelers intend to take a vacation in the next six months – holding steady with figures captured earlier this summer but a 10-point decrease compared to the same time last year. Among those not planning to vacation in the next six months, nearly 40% cited concerns about their financial situation or the rising cost of travel as a reason. The offsetting good news for the travel industry is that those who do plan to travel for leisure in the next 12 months plan to spend significantly more on their vacations than those surveyed last year at this same time ($3,785, up from $2,758 in 2021). According to Chris Davidson, EVP of MMGY Travel Intelligence, Boomers and higher-income households plan to spend more on travel, while lower-income households indicate they expect to spend considerably less on travel in the year ahead. “With these factors in mind, we’re predicting that overall leisure travel volume may decrease somewhat in 2023 while prices will likely increase,” said Davidson. “From a hospitality perspective, we expect leisure occupancy to decrease while average daily rate (ADR) increases modestly. As a result, we’re anticipating a slight increase in revenue per available room (RevPAR) on a year-over-year basis in 2023.” Other key findings from the Portrait of American Travelers® “Fall Edition” include: With the winter holidays approaching, fewer U.S. adults are planning to travel this season compared to last year, down from 42% in 2021 to 36% this year. Though a statistically significant decline, researchers anticipate that this will still be a very healthy holiday travel season for the industry but potentially down slightly from a volume perspective compared to 2021/2022. Culinary experiences are a high priority and disproportionately so for younger travelers. In fact, 6 in 10 Gen Zs (56%) and Millennials (61%) are influenced by the quality of the culinary scene when choosing where to stay in a destination. Regardless of how affluent travelers are, respondents in these age groups were found to generally value authentic local food and beverage experiences much more so than traditional fine-dining experiences, such as those designated as Michelin-starred restaurants. Social media continues to play an important role in travel planning, especially among younger generations. Four in 10 Millennials indicate celebrities and digital content creators have a great deal of influence on their travel decisions (38%). In addition, nearly 6 in 10 Millennials have made a travel purchase based at least partially on a post by a celebrity or influencer (57%). These findings confirm that the reach and effectiveness of social media influencers remain powerful tools in today’s travel marketing landscape. Russia Withdraws Troops After Ukraine Encircles Key City – 69News WFMZ-TV https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/russia-withdraws-troops-after-ukraine-encircles-key-city-69news-wfmz-tv/ KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia said Saturday it has withdrawn its troops from the once-occupied city of Lyman, as Ukraine’s eastern counteroffensive recaptures more territory. Russia’s Tass and RIA news agencies, citing the Russian defense ministry, made the announcement. Lyman is 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. Ukrainian forces had pushed across the Oskil River as part of a counteroffensive that saw Kyiv retake vast swathes of territory beginning in September. Lyman, a key transportation hub, had been an important site in the Russian front line for both ground communications and logistics. Now with it gone, Ukraine can push further potentially into the occupied Luhansk region, which is one of four regions that Russia annexed Friday after an internationally criticized referendum vote at gunpoint. THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. AP’s earlier story follows below. KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukrainian forces encircled the strategic eastern city of Lyman on Saturday in a counteroffensive that has humiliated the Kremlin, while Russian bombardments intensified after Moscow illegally annexed a swath of Ukrainian territory in a sharp escalation of the war. In the northeast, Ukrainian officials accused Russian forces of attacking a civilian evacuation convoy, killing 20 people including children. In the south, Ukraine’s nuclear power provider said Saturday that Russian forces blindfolded and detained the head of Europe’s largest nuclear plant. The fighting comes at a pivotal moment in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war. Facing Ukrainian gains on the battlefield — which he frames as a U.S.-orchestrated effort to destroy Russia — Putin this week heightened his threats of nuclear force and used his most aggressive, anti-Western rhetoric to date. Despite Putin’s land-grab Friday of four regions in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his military have vowed to keep on fighting to liberate the annexed regions and other Russian-occupied areas. Ukrainian officials said Saturday their forces had surrounded some 5,000 Russian forces who were trying to hold the eastern city of Lyman, which is located in Luhansk, one of the four annexed areas. Andriy Yermak, Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, posted video online Saturday purporting to show Ukrainian soldiers at a monument on the outskirts of Lyman, waving a signed Ukrainian flag. It remained unclear whether Ukrainian forces have entered the city itself. Luhansk Gov. Serhiy Haidai claimed that all routes to resupply Russian forces in Lyman were blocked. Russia has not confirmed that its forces were cut off, and Russian analysts had said Moscow was sending more troops to the area. But the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said Ukraine likely will retake Lyman in the coming days. Citing Russian reports, the institute said it appeared Russian forces were retreating from Lyman, 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. That corresponds to online videos purportedly showing some Russian forces falling back. Meanwhile Ukrainian authorities accuse Russian forces of targeting two humanitarian convoys in recent days, killing dozens of civilians. On Saturday the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleh Syniehubov, said 20 civilians were killed in an attack on a convoy of people trying to flee the Kupiansky district, calling it “сruelty that can’t be justified.” The Security Service of Ukraine, the secret police force known by the acronym SBU, posted photographs of the attacked convoy. At least one truck appeared to have been blown up, with burned corpses in what remained of its truck bed. Another vehicle at the front of the convoy also had been ablaze. Bodies lay on the side of the road or still inside their vehicles, which appeared pockmarked with bullet holes. The SBU said the convoy was attacked with “small arms fire,” while the governor said it was shelled. The discrepancy could not be immediately resolved. The exact date of the attack was not announced. Russian forces have not acknowledged or commented on the attack. Russian troops have retreated from much of the Kharkiv region after a successful Ukrainian counteroffensive last month but have continued to shell the area. In an apparent attempt to secure Moscow’s hold on the newly annexed territory, Russian forces seized the director-general of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Ihor Murashov, around 4 p.m. Friday, according to the Ukrainian state nuclear company Energoatom. That was just hours after Putin signed treaties to absorb Moscow-controlled Ukrainian territory into Russia, including the area around the nuclear plant. Energoatom said Russian troops stopped Murashov’s car, blindfolded him and then took him to an undisclosed location. Russia did not publicly comment on the report. The International Atomic Energy Agency said Saturday that Russia told it that “the director-general of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant was temporarily detained to answer questions.” The Vienna-based agency did not immediately elaborate. “His detention by (Russia) jeopardizes the safety of Ukraine and Europe’s largest nuclear power plant,” said Energoatom President Petro Kotin, demanding the director’s immediate release. The power plant repeatedly has been caught in the crossfire of the war. Ukrainian technicians continued running it after Russian troops seized the power station, and its last reactor was shut down in September as a precautionary measure amid ongoing shelling nearby. In its heaviest barrage in weeks, Russia’s military on Friday pounded Ukrainian cities with missiles, rockets and suicide drones, with one strike in the Zaporizhzhia region’s capital killing 30 people and wounding 88. In a daily briefing Saturday, the British Defense Ministry said the Russians “almost certainly” struck a humanitarian convoy there with S-300 anti-aircraft missiles. Russia is increasingly using anti-aircraft missiles to conduct attacks on the ground likely due to a lack of munitions, the British military said. The attack came while Putin was preparing to sign the annexation treaties, which included the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian-installed officials in Zaporizhzhia blamed Ukrainian forces, but gave no evidence. In other fighting reported Saturday, four people were killed and six injured by Russian shelling in the Donetsk region on Friday, governor Pavlo Kyrylenko reported. The Russian army also struck the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv twice overnight, once with drones and the second time with missiles, according to regional Gov. Vitaliy Kim. Five people were injured, including a 3-month-old baby, he said. After Friday’s land grab, Russia now claims sovereignty over 15% of Ukraine, in what NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called “the largest attempted annexation of European territory by force since the Second World War.” He added that the war is at ”a pivotal moment.” Zelenskyy on Friday formally applied for NATO membership, upping the pressure on Western allies to defend Ukraine. In Washington, President Joe Biden signed a bill Friday that provides another infusion of military and economic aid to Ukraine. PCOS In Teenage Girls: Identifying Sign And Symptoms, Lifestyle And Dietary Tips – Hindustan Times https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/pcos-in-teenage-girls-identifying-sign-and-symptoms-lifestyle-and-dietary-tips-hindustan-times/ Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS is one of the most common lifelong chronic health disorders that is known to affect women in their teenage and childbearing ages. It is a hormonal imbalance condition that causes heavier periods, irregular menstrual cycles alongside unexplained weight gain or difficulty in maintaining normal weight, acne and clogged pores on the face, excessive hair growth on face, chest or abdomen, affects the chances of pregnancy, causes metabolic disorders including type II diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, endometrial cancer, anxiety and depression. Although it cannot be completely prevented or cured, health experts insist that with early and multidisciplinary management approach of PCOS treatment, lifestyle management and timely psychological counseling, the consequences of PCOS in the later stages of life can be tactfully managed. Identifying signs and symptoms of PCOS In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Kavita Pujar, Senior Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Kinder Women’s Hospital and Fertility Centre in Bengaluru, shared, “One of the major symptoms of PCOS is irregular or missed periods, which can lead to paused ovulation. In such cases, conceiving a child may become difficult, resulting in infertility. However, if irregular periods are managed during the early years of puberty, women can get pregnant without any difficulty.” She added, “The next major contributor to PCOS is the growing incidence of childhood obesity which is resulting in early puberty. Obesity can slow down metabolism and hence, cause hormonal imbalances, which again makes it difficult to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight range. For women with PCOS, skin problems are common owing to high androgen (male hormone) levels leading to increased production of sebum, which in turn, causes inflammation and bacterial growth on the skin. Teens with PCOS, with their unexplained weight gain, facial hair growth, acne, metabolic disorders suffer from poor self-image, profound psychological and social crisis that may need immediate attention and care.” Ways to tackle PCOS in teenage years Many stay unaware of this condition in the initial stages hence, the symptoms remain ignored or unattended. Dr Kavita Pujar suggested, “The first thing to do after experiencing the above-mentioned symptoms is to consult a Gynecologist. The symptoms must be assessed further using proper diagnostic tests and the right treatment as per the severity of the condition will be prescribed. PCOD can be treated and managed well with simple lifestyle alterations and following a healthy way of living. Many are advised to take oral contraceptive pills to reduce acne and other symptoms, regulate their menstrual cycle; some are also given diabetic medicines to manage their metabolic health and keep their blood sugar levels under control.” According to her, few lifestyle and dietary tips that can make a difference include: 1. Choosing healthier food and following healthy eating habits 2. Cutting down calories with more balanced and nutritious meal intake 3. Eat according to hunger levels 4. Planning meals early can help make better choices 5. Staying adequately hydrated 6. Regular exercising through sports, aerobics, and fitness programs to stay physically fit, to build muscle mass and burn excess body fat and not only to burn calories 7. Practice yoga and meditation regularly for better psychological health 8. Maintaining a proper sleep cycle for at least 6-8 hours 9. Intake of hormonal medicines prescribed by the consulting doctor at suggested times 10. Stay away from stress to keep cortisol and insulin levels under control Asserting that making simple lifestyle changes can help manage PCOS better, Dr Kavita Pujar advised, “Opting for healthier meal options instead of foods made with refined flour or with high amounts of sugar, processed or packaged can make a significant difference. In some women, having gluten and dairy free food can provide much needed relief from inflammatory issues like acne or premenstrual syndromes, thus helping in maintaining healthy weight.” Coping up the right way PCOS can affect one’s self-esteem owing to the several physical changes and health issues it can cause and not every girl will have the similar symptoms and signs but in a nutshell, the problem remains the same. Dr Kavita Pujar explained, “It is necessary to take the right preventive measures to reduce the intensity of the physical symptoms and tackle emotional health better. Therefore, it is better to start small and have effective results thereafter. Post diagnosis, check with your gynecologist for medicines that can not only normalize menstrual cycle but also help control excessive hair growth or acne. These medicines essentially control the androgen levels in the body. If such hormonal medicines do not show much change, consult a dermatologist for further treatment.” She elaborated, “Feeling anxious or depressed also needs to be tackled tactfully. Talking to a therapist can help. Try to build a positive environment around them, listen to their problems and sort them out to build their confidence in themselves. Lastly, in most cases, despite identifying the signs and symptoms of PCOS, many women choose to self-medicate or delay treatment, which can in turn lead to health risks in future. It is, thus, advisable to consult a gynecologist at the onset of identifying symptoms and get treated on time.”

Arsenal Vs. Tottenham Result Highlights & Analysis As Gunners Move Four Points Clear At The Top Of The Premier League Sporting News
Arsenal Vs. Tottenham Result, Highlights & Analysis As Gunners Move Four Points Clear At The Top Of The Premier League – Sporting News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/arsenal-vs-tottenham-result-highlights-analysis-as-gunners-move-four-points-clear-at-the-top-of-the-premier-league-sporting-news/ Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his side were “phenomenal” as the Gunners moved four points clear at the top of the Premier League by inflicting a first defeat of the season on arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Thomas Partey curled in a superb 20th-minute opener and Gabriel Jesus struck in his first North London derby as Arsenal overcame Harry Kane’s equaliser from the penalty spot – his 100th Premier League away goal – to earn a seventh successive home win. “From the beginning, we went for it,” said Arteta after victory ensured Arsenal will end the weekend above second-placed Manchester City. “We were brave, we were courageous, we were free – and that’s what we encourage the players to be.” Tottenham’s miserable end to their 13-match unbeaten league run was compounded when Emerson Royal was sent off for raking Gabriel Martinelli. As dominant Arsenal sought to capitalise on their numerical advantage, Granit Xhaka continued his renaissance at the club by firing a low shot past Hugo Lloris. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) October 1, 2022 Antonio Conte made five substitutions as he tried to ease the pressure being faced by his side, who remain four points clear of fourth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion and five ahead of Manchester United in fifth, both of whom have two games in hand on Spurs. Revenge is sweet for Arsenal Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat at Tottenham in their penultimate away match of last season was a particularly bitter blow as it all-but handed Spurs the final Champions League spot ahead of the team they love to beat most. For all the progress Arsenal had shown under Arteta in 2021/22, they failed badly on a night when they could have secured a famous result with that coveted fourth spot in their sights. Tottenham’s significant spending ahead of Antonio Conte’s first full campaign in charge had made them the stronger favourites to challenge before the start of the season, and Arsenal’s excellent start had been tempered when their first match against heavyweight opponents ended in a 3-1 setback at Manchester United. There were no signs of the stage fright that Arsenal have been accused of susceptibility to this time, putting Tottenham on the back foot immediately by fashioning a succession of good chances. Granit Xhaka kept their passing flowing as confidently as he had for Switzerland during their win over the Czech Republic on Tuesday, and Gabriel Martinelli stopped only marginally short of Richarlison-style showboating as he repeatedly charged down the wing, taunting the recalled Royal and his backtracking teammates with his speed and trickery. “That’s the way we want to play, especially against teams that can hurt you on the break,” said Arteta, who will now be able to watch City host Manchester United on Sunday with no risk of his table-toppers being deposed. Son’s four goals in his last five games against Arsenal and the 13 scored by Kane in 18 editions of the derby did not make Arsenal fearful. “I really liked that we didn’t play with that in the back of our minds,” said Arteta, having watched his players produce 22 passes on their way to that goal of the season contender that broke the deadlock. “We want to control the game.” The Sporting News followed the match live and provided live score updates and commentary. Kane sees a shot from distance blocked. 75 mins: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham Kane lumbers forward down the right, puts in a clumsy challenge on Gabriel and then goes to ground himself, having conceded the foul. 73 mins: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham Zinchenko offers a show of joy as the returning full-back is among the players to head off in a round of Arsenal substitutions. If Arsenal can avoid conceding twice, they’ll be out of reach for his former side, Manchester City, at the top of the table this weekend. 71 mins: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham Lenglet, Perisic, Richarlison and Son are among those to make way. Conte looks like he’s happy to shut up shop and stem the barrage. 69 mins: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham Five changes are coming up for Tottenham. There’s a sense of the embarrassment Arsenal tried to avoid when they lost 3-0 at Spurs at the end of last season. 68 mins: Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham That was the latest sweeping move from Arsenal, who had already been on the front foot for much of this half and now have more space to play in with the extra man. Martinelli approached the penalty area to the left of centre and moved the ball on to Xhaka ahead of him, who shifted his body to befuddle Dier and smashed a low shot beyond Longlet and the dive of Lloris and into the far corner of the net! 67 mins: GOAL – Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham (Granit Xhaka) Arsenal have taken advantage since finding themselves with a man advantage and their latest attack extends their lead following a flowing move! 64 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham “It might have been pent up frustration,” Jermaine Jenas suggests about Royal’s red card on BT Sport. That’s a fair assessment. Royal hadn’t been doing terribly against Martinelli but he’d often been left looking like a man chasing shadows in his attempts to deal with his target’s skills and speed. 63 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham Conte is having a word with an official about something as Royal makes his way off. He might not have much of a case if he’s contending that red card. The manager makes no contact with Royal as he heads for the tunnel. 62 mins: RED CARD – Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham (Emerson Royal) Having been restored to the starting line-up today, Royal has had a difficult afternoon against the enterprising Martinelli. This time the youngster evades one challenge before Royal plants a powerful foot on his shin. Anthony Taylor pauses to think – then brandishes a straight red card! 60 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham Xhaka lifts a cross towards Jesus inside the penalty area on the right, who plants a header down and into Lloris’s gloves. 59 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham Persistent menace Richarlison can’t find a way through against Saliba on the right, but he goes better in the subsequent attack, setting up Hojbjerg in space on the edge of the penalty area. The shot is comfortably wide of the near post. Tottenham were under almost relentless pressure for the first 15 minutes or so of the first half, so they won’t mind biding their time for more chanes here. 55 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham A good omen for Arsenal: Jesus is unbeaten in all 50 Premier League matches in which he has scored, winning 47 of those. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) October 1, 2022 53 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham We’ve had an eventful few minutes since that goal. Spurs threatened at the other end, then Jesus wanted a penalty after performing a few stepovers and going down inside the penalty area. The scorer should have at least tested Lloris again when he had a free header on the left-hand side of the penalty area, sending it comfortably wide. Arteta won’t be feeling quite as high-spirited as Jesus goes down with an apparent injury for longer than you’d expect if he’s making a meal of it. He’s back up in the end. 50 mins: Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham Tottenham didn’t cover themselves in glory defensively there. Saka was allowed an inviting amount of space inside the penalty area on the right, cutting back before firing in a low diagonal cross. Lloris descended but only pushed the ball right into the path of Jesus in front of him. Romero was caught by surprise, only nudging the ricochet towards the goalline as Jesus charged past him to prod in. Arteta indulges in some eye-catching celebrations on the touchline again! 49 mins: GOAL – Arsenal 2-1 Tottenham (Gabriel Jesus) Arsenal retake the lead! 48 mins: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham Odegaard measures a cross into the penalty area from Arsenal’s left. Dier heads away. It’s looking like being a long half for both sets of defenders again. 47 mins: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham Martinelli pulls a cross from the right back into the path of the centrally-located Odegaard, whose shot is diverted away by Hojbjerg. 46 mins: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham Tottenham have the first sight of goal of the second half, Romero reaching a long ball on the right. Saliba stops him. Half-time: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham There’s a half that lived up to the billing. Arsenal dominated the early stages, only for Spurs to have the best early chance when Richarlison forced a close-range save from Ramsdale. Partey had clearly seen enough, curling...

Despite The Crypto Market Downturn, DAO Treasuries Grew By $700 Million Since January – Defi Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/despite-the-crypto-market-downturn-dao-treasuries-grew-by-700-million-since-january-defi-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/ Since January 2022, the entire crypto economy has shed $1.36 trillion in value, as the market capitalization dropped from $2.34 trillion to today’s $979 billion. While the crypto economy is down in value, trade volumes are lower, and the value locked in decentralized finance (defi) has shed billions, treasuries held by decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) have increased by 7.69% in value since January, as roughly $700 million was added to the projects’ caches in eight months. DAO Treasuries Jump 7.6% Higher in USD Value, Since 2016 the Value Held by Decentralized Autonomous Organizations Grew by 6,025% On June 10, 2022, the total amount of funds held by decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) treasuries reached the $10 billion range for the first time in history. While the crypto industry is dealing with lower prices and bearish sentiment, the value held by DAO treasuries has managed to weather the storm. Presently, across 4,830 organizations, DAOs hold $9.8 billion, which is only $200 million less than the aggregate value held by DAOs 112 days ago. While it is $200 million less than it was three months ago, DAO treasury values have increased by $700 million since January, according to stats aggregated by deepdao.io. On January 22, deepdao.io metrics recorded by archive.org indicate there were 4,227 organizations at that time, and collectively, $9.1 billion was held in DAO treasuries. With $9.8 billion today, that’s a 7.69% increase in USD value held by DAO treasuries over the last 251 days. At the time, Bitdao held $2.4 billion in its treasury and it was the largest DAO treasury in January. Uniswap was the second largest at the time, with $2.1 billion. Both Bitdao and Uniswap are still the top two DAOs in terms of treasury size, but Uniswap is now the largest. On October 1, Uniswap has $2.8 billion, while Bitdao’s cache has shrunk to $1.3 billion from the $2.4 billion held at the beginning of the year. Bitdao’s $1.3 billion makes it the second largest DAO treasury and it’s followed by ENS which holds roughly $1.2 billion. 251 days ago, ENS was the 14th largest and at the time, the third largest was Lido Finance. The liquid staking protocol’s DAO is now the fifth largest, with $283 million held in the Lido DAO today. The top ten DAO treasuries include Uniswap, Bitdao, ENS, Gnosis, Lido, Olympus DAO, Mango DAO, Merit Circle, Compound, and Aragon Network. Out of the entire $9.8 billion, there are 3.9 million governance token holders, and 698,400 active voters and proposal makers. 109 DAOs hold $1 million or more, while only three DAOs have more than a billion in funds. While Uniswap has $2.7 billion, 98.7% of the project’s treasury funds are held in uniswap (UNI) tokens, and Bitdao has a treasury comprised of a bunch of different crypto assets which include tokens like BIT, ETH, USDC, and USDT. As the crypto economy continues to deal with tumultuous times, decentralized autonomous organization treasuries have seen steadfast growth since the start of the year. Since the first DAO was created in 2016, DAO treasuries have increased 6,025% in USD value during the last six years.
