there are a few big things to note about Gio's DP which make it worth doing:
1) it has relatively fast recovery compared to most DPs
2) it doesn't send her to the fucking moon, so harder to juggle her to death
3) arguably the biggest one it doesn't put her into counter-hit recovery afterwards, so unlike other DP's, she doesn't get completely obliterated off whiffing
4) it leads to some of Gio's biggest CounterHit combos (example attached)
5) it's Gio's fastest Anti-Air option (7 frames) aside from air-throwing (6p is 13 frames, most air buttons are jump-time + 7-ish frames)
here's an example CH DP combo I mentioned, landed this in a match against Nago who is heavier than most, so if it works on him, it works on basically anyone
one last thing:
since DP isn't as fast to do as say, 6P or similar, don't be afraid to just do it in neutral preemptively (that is, when fullscreen or similar, just throw it out if think they might jump), or even better, dash -> 623S
The recovery is fast enough most can't really punish it. As long as they don't block it on the ground you're good to go (it's like -15 on grounded block)
