Am 28. Juni 2019 trat die Richtlinie (EU) 2019/882 des Europäischen Parlaments und des Rates vom 17. April 2019 über die Barrierefreiheitsanforderungen für Produkte und Dienstleistungen, der sogenannte „European Accessibility Act (EAA)“, in Kraft. Die Richtlinie wurde in Deutschland im Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) sowie durch den zweiten Medienänderungsstaatsvertrag umgesetzt.
