“1/3 One reason I’m disturbed by the trend for education research to be conducted by economists is that the kind of psychology in which mainstream economics is rooted — indeed, that it takes on faith — is a rusty Skinnerian behaviorism that most psychologists outgrew long ago.”

Listening to the perspectives of those with lived experience is key to understanding that disability is not a problem to solve but part of the total human experience to embrace. “Nothing about us without us” has real and consequential meaning. We can’t have a truly equitable social justice movement without disability rights representation and visibility. And we can’t have inclusive schools without disability inclusive spaces and accommodations for learning.

Sunshine Support - So many autistic young people are missed until they get to teenage years (some of us were missed until adult years!) but typically these observations of an Autistic teen's presentation are common in our experience (as Autistic adults ourselves, as parents of Autistic children and as professionals who work in the field of SEND). What else would you add? A child doesn't need to present with all of these, but we do need to explore these points of presentation as often they mean a young person needs some help and support as they transition into adults. 🟠We will cover this at length in our webinar on 1st November... Read more and book your place here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/353898609267🟠 Please remember to be kind, everyone has their own journey. #autism #neurodivergence #autisticteen #autismhelp #actuallyautistic #sensoryprocessing #autismmom #autistic #neurodivergent #autisminteens #autisticadult #autisticwomen | Facebook

“@Fiona_Clarke_ Imagine if for decades, people were 'treating' diabetes low blood sugar incidents (and angry/distressed behaviour through them) with 'challenging behaviour' courses.. instead of preventing them happening in the first place? That. Meltdowns = distress. Sort the distress. Not hard”
