Technology From Nvidia Needs To Be Used In All Future Fighting Games To Reduce Input Delay – EventHubs https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/technology-from-nvidia-needs-to-be-used-in-all-future-fighting-games-to-reduce-input-delay-eventhubs/ Reflex has been around for a few years and works well to help diagnose and reduce input delay in games Input delay, rollback netcode and crossplay are the three terms buzzing the most in the fighting game community lately. For input delay, Nvidia has a very nice solution that’s proven to reduce response times in games like Destiny 2, Fortnite and Valorant, and this technology needs to be implemented in all future fighting games. The fighting game genre is one that requires extremely fast reaction times and quick rendering of inputs for games to feel right. Nvidia Reflex is a suite of tools that specializes in doing exactly that, and has been implemented and numerous modern games and delivered on its promises to reduce response times. As such, it’s a marriage the fighting game community needs to make happen in all future titles. Developers who have implemented Reflex into their games have been able to cut input delay in half, in some cases. Even though 360hz monitors and 3000 series Nvidia GPUs are not the norm in the fighting game community, this technology also works on older hardware. In the examples shown, Reflex running on a GeForce 1660 Super was able to drop input delay by an entire frame, or more. Running a 3000 series card and 360hz display decreases the input delay even further. Competitive fighting game players would love to see this reduction in place, as when Street Fighter 5 went from nearly 8 frames of delay, down to around 3 frames of delay on PC, the community collectively rejoiced. Input delay has been such a notorious issue, especially on the PlayStation platform, that the creators of the Unreal Engine, Epic Games, has said they’re working with developers to find and mitigate these issues. Getting fighting games to the peak levels of performance and having things feel fast and responsive is something the fighting game community has been rallying behind for years. These options which are proven to reduce input delay in competitive games should become a standard in all future fighting games that are released. You can find more information about Nvidia’s Reflex technology on the official site, and check out the video below for a quick overview.

Sony’s New Xperia Gaming Phone Adds Fresh Dirt On The PS Vita’s Grave – TweakTown https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/sonys-new-xperia-gaming-phone-adds-fresh-dirt-on-the-ps-vitas-grave-tweaktown/ Sony’s latest gaming smartphone has pretty much ensured the PlayStation Vita will stay dead. 6 VIEW GALLERY – 6 IMAGES 10 years ago, Sony made both smartphones and gaming handhelds; the Xperia and the Vita line co-existed and served different markets. Nowadays the Vita has been rendered largely obsolete by the power and utility of today’s smartphones. After 7 years on the market, Sony has decided that dedicated handheld gaming peripherals just aren’t worth it. PlayStation was noticeably absent from Tokyo Game Show 2022, but Sony’s Xperia smartphone segment debuted an interesting device. The latest Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition smartphone adds fresh new soil to the Vita’s grave. The Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition packs on an extra 4GB of RAM onto the base Xperia 1 IV handset to deliver serious hardware specs and performance targets; outfitted with a massive 16GB of DDR5-3200MHz RAM, Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and a 120Hz screen with 240Hz touch scanning, the new Xperia gaming edition was built specifically for pro players (namely F2P mobile games). Sony has also made a separate peripheral that comes with specially-designed Xperia Stream hardware–a portable handheld dock with a built-in cooling fan, LAN ports, and even HDMI out for streaming. 6 Like the rest of the Xperia lineup, this particular handset is quite expensive. The Xperia 1 IV retails at $1,600 and that’s not including the extra gaming peripheral, which costs about $150 on its own. Designed in collaboration with professional eSports players, the Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition combines Xperia Stream gaming gear, featuring a total cooling system, with customisable settings, live streaming and more. High-performance gaming gear designed in collaboration with pro gamers Total cooling system lets you play for longer HDMI, LAN and USB-C ports for stable gaming 3.5mm audio jack for your favourite gaming headset Game enhancer control optimises cooling automatically

Crossbows Vs. Compound Bows | Sports | Oleantimesherald.com – Olean Times Herald https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/crossbows-vs-compound-bows-sports-oleantimesherald-com-olean-times-herald/ Today’s bows and crossbows are very different from just 50 years ago. New York is pretty restrictive on its crossbow regulations and this shows in a small degree the conflict existing between compound and crossbow users. But, is there that much difference and is either even close to traditional archery hunting? Wade Robertson New York state has a strong, dedicated lobby of archers who are most decidedly against crossbows, so much so that regulations forbid using one until November of archery season, which seems a little ridiculous. I have a few observations that I hope readers will find interesting — possibly even thought-provoking.

Kwon, the primary developer of the two cryptocurrencies whose spectacular collapse in May roiled crypto markets around the world, was also the founder of blockchain platform Terraform Labs, which has been accused of fraud by investors in the wake of the collapse. Last week, a spokesperson for South Korean prosecutors said arrest warrants had been issued for six people, including Do Kwon, and that they were residing in Singapore. read more The arrest order came after months of investigation and amid public outrage in South Korea over the collapse. Biden: Putin Using Nuclear, Chermical Weapons Would Lead To “consequential” U.S. Response – Axios https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/biden-putin-using-nuclear-chermical-weapons-would-lead-to-consequential-u-s-response-axios/ President Biden warned Russian President Vladimir Putin not to use chemical or tactical nuclear weapons in the war against Ukraine or there would be a “consequential” response from the United States. The big picture: The Kremlin last week said that Russia would continue to wage its war in Ukraine until all its military goals have been achieved despite facing a rapidly advancing Ukrainian counter-offensive. In March, a Kremlin spokesperson said that Russia would only use nuclear weapons if there’s a “threat for existence” to the country and not due to the war with Ukraine. Last month, the UN warned that humanity is “one miscalculation away from nuclear annihilation” Why it matters: Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine increased tensions between the U.S. and its former Cold War foe — both of which have nuclear weapons, Axios’ Julia Shapero reports. Putin ordered Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on alert soon after invading Ukraine, citing “aggressive statements” from NATO countries. What they’re saying: “It would change the face of war unlike anything since World War II,” Biden said in an interview with CBS that will air Sunday. “They’ll become more of a pariah in the world than they ever have been. And depending on the extent of what they do will determine what response would occur,” he added.

A Guide To Selecting The Right Vehicle The Manila Times
A Guide To Selecting The Right Vehicle The Manila Times
A Guide To Selecting The Right Vehicle – The Manila Times https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/a-guide-to-selecting-the-right-vehicle-the-manila-times/ A vehicle is an aspirational item. Aside from taking its passengers from point A to point B, most individuals and families consider a vehicle as the reward of sacrifice, hard work, and, perhaps, years of investing. For those who now have the means to purchase their dream car, here are some tips for finding the most value in your purchase. Conduct a Needs Assessment Before going to the showroom, the prospective car owner should ask “who will use this vehicle” and “where do I intend to take it?” On weekdays in Metro Manila, it is common to see only one or two persons inside a vehicle. Almost all four-wheeled vehicles are able to occupy five persons so the daily commute should not be a problem. However, the car owner should think of the extended family as well. Most Filipino families have extended members and as the country transitions to a new normal, travel to the countryside is back. Should you have nephews, nieces, nanny or dog in the house, it is best to provide an additional seat or two for them. This is where multi-purpose vehicles or small seven-seater SUVs come in. Roads can be a challenge in provinces. While most people now reside at or around urban areas, their work or business may require some to travel to far-flung places. The trip to a construction site may involve cruising through highways and traversing frequently muddy trails. It is true that a 4-wheel drive vehicle costs more but don’t compromise. There are carmakers who now offer entry-level pick-up trucks that have 4-wheel drive. Get the latest news delivered to your inbox Sign up for The Manila Times’ daily newsletters By signing up with an email address, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Identify the features that you need The more features in a vehicle, the higher its selling price. As a car buyer, ask yourself if these bells and whistles are worth spending a few thousand pesos more over the base, or entry-level, grade. Go for safety in assessing exterior features of a vehicle. Reverse cameras and parking sensors are good to have. These help the driver avoid hitting an obstacle or another car while parking, thus, removing costs for dent and scratch repairs. Fog lamps are both aesthetically-pleasing and helpful. You will need the additional visibility when you travel in dark, isolated roads, or if your area usually rains. If you want to stick to the essentials, forego on the features that enhance the look of the vehicle. More expensive grades offer front, side or rear skirts, a rear spoiler, and a sportier wheel design. Go for comfort and convenience with interior features. A good audio system, with Apple or Android connectivity, removes the stress of being stuck in EDSA traffic. Modern vehicles now have a wireless charger so you can be sure that your smartphone will not die as you leave the car. Expect the kids to be less bored if there are USB ports and less tired if there are sufficient bottle holders for their drinks. One of the reasons for physically visiting multiple brands is to check on the vehicle’s luggage space. There are vehicles within a segment that have a relatively smaller cargo space. A small cargo space is not ideal if you bring a lot of equipment for work, or bags if your family goes on a vacation. Then, there are the operating costs of the vehicle. First and foremost is fuel efficiency. While driving habits and the car’s maintenance contribute to fuel consumption, a car’s engine must be able to perform with less stress as possible. A 1.0-liter car is generally thought of as fuel efficient but this attribute diminishes if it regularly carries 5 adults plus equipment to work. The same applies to 1.3-liter, 7-seater multi-purpose vehicles. These are indeed affordable, but the engine may need to exert more to carry its body, not to mention its passengers and cargo. Don’t forget the after-sales service Enter the front door and a prospective car buyer can see and feel the level of customer service in a dealership. Like buying a policy from an insurance agent, a car purchase is a life-long relationship with the brand and its frontliners. The sale is just the start of that relationship. As you proceed to the service area, take a look at the staff and see if they are approachable, courteous and conduct themselves professionally. When buying a car, the selling and servicing dealer should be near your house or office. This should be paramount over falling in love with the design and value-for-money proposition of a vehicle. It will be a chore to drive 30 kilometers or an hour to take your car for periodic maintenance. When taking a car for maintenance or repair, there are parts that need to be replaced. Brands that are not volume-sellers may have a difficulty in obtaining parts for your vehicle. This will entail waiting and coming back after a few days or weeks. Remember to take time and shop from multiple brands and dealerships to find the right car and the most attractive offer for you. As one who invested for this goal for many years, it is now time to buy your dream car. Marion Evangelista, RFP CTEP CTA is a registered financial planner of RFP Philippines. City Of Flagstaff Announces Minimum Wage For 2023 Flagstaff Business News
City Of Flagstaff Announces Minimum Wage For 2023 – Flagstaff Business News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/city-of-flagstaff-announces-minimum-wage-for-2023-flagstaff-business-news/ You are here: Home / Business / City of Flagstaff Announces Minimum Wage for 2023 September 17, 2022 By FBN Leave a Comment The minimum wage in the City of Flagstaff will increase to $16.80 beginning on January 1, 2023. On November 8, 2016 the voters of Flagstaff wrote and passed The Minimum Wage Act (“the Act”) as a citizen’s initiative (Proposition 414). The Act, which is codified in Title 15 of the Flagstaff City Code, prescribes that beginning in 2023, the Flagstaff minimum wage shall be increased annually by the increase in the cost of living. Pursuant to the Act, “[t]he increase in the cost of living shall be measured by the percentage increase as of August of the immediately preceding year over the level as of August of the previous year of the consumer price index (all urban consumers, U.S. city average for all items)” (15-01-001-0003(B)). The increase shall be rounded to the nearest $0.05. On September 13, 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released the consumer price index (CPI) numbers for August of 2022. The CPI for August 2022 (296.171) was 8.3% greater than for August 2021 (273.567). Accordingly, as of January 1, 2023, the minimum wage in the City of Flagstaff will increase from $15.50 per hour to $16.80 per hour. The Flagstaff minimum wage applies to all employees who work or are expected to work at least 25 hours within the city limits in a single calendar year. For provisions of the Act pertaining to tipped employees, please refer to section 15-01-001-0003(E) of the Flagstaff City Code. The Act is enforced by the Flagstaff Office of Labor Standards. Previously enacted provisions of Title 15 will remain in effect. These include requirements that employers maintain payroll records for a period of 4 years, allow the Office of Labor Standards to review these records to monitor compliance, and do not retaliate in any way against employees for asserting their rights under this law. Hampton University Recruits Hall Of Famer Smith, Other Former NFL Athletes, For Men’s Health Fair – News 3 WTKR Norfolk https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/hampton-university-recruits-hall-of-famer-smith-other-former-nfl-athletes-for-mens-health-fair-news-3-wtkr-norfolk/ HAMPTON, Va. – NFL Hall of Famer Bruce Smith joined other former NFL athletes who used their voices in support of men’s health on Saturday. The discussion and panel was part of the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute’s (HUPTI) first Prostate Cancer and Men’s Health Awareness Fair. “I’m 59 years old and I’ve been screened,” Smith told the packed room. The fair brought in numerous vendors to talk with the men who came out about living a healthy lifestyle. HUPTI also offered free early-detection prostate screenings that attracted dozens soon after the doors opened at 9 a.m. The panel of NFL athletes began at 10. “I think our lending our voices helps to amplify the need for men specifically and African Americans to take ownership of their health,” Smith told News 3. “I think it’s real important and sometimes it gives other men a little bit more encouragement.” Organizer Tiffany Rodgers says bringing in professional athletes to share their stories was crucial for an event that she says proved to be even more popular than expected. “They want to break down these walls we have where we don’t talk and we’re scared to go to the doctor. We can’t do that. We have to go to the doctor, we have to get screened and we have to stick around,” said Rodgers, Marketing Director for HUPTI. According to the Hampton Roads Prostate Health Forum, one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and Black men are twice as likely to die from a low-grade case than any other race. The forum recommends Black men and others considered high-risk for prostate cancer begin annual screenings at 40 years old. Rodgers says she plans to make the Men’s Health Awareness Fair an annual event taking place every September. Copyright 2022 Scripps Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Pinned Big Ten teams in trouble Early 4Q: Southern Illinois 24, Northwestern 17 Early 4Q: Western Kentucky 27, Indiana 19 Northwestern and Indiana are on the verge of awful losses. The Wildcats are trailing FCS Southern Illinois, which was 0-2 coming into this game. In Bloomington, the Hoosiers are trying to avoid a loss to Western Kentucky. There is still time for both teams to engineer a late comeback, but the clock is ticking on what would be disastrous defeats for these Big Ten programs. Pinned Purdue-Syracuse getting fun Start 4Q: Syracuse 10, Purdue 9 Based on the offensive bona fides of these two teams from the first couple games, you might have thought we’d have a little more offense here. But it’s been a total slugfest with 16-play (!) Syracuse touchdown drive marking the only scoring of the third quarter. Orange trying to start 3-0 for the first time since 2018 but Purdue has the football in SU territory to begin the fourth. Pinned Baylor should feel lucky Late 3Q: Baylor 28, Texas State 7 The Bears are fortunate to be in a good spot here, as Texas State has failed to convert on fourth down THREE times during this game and also fumbled while moving the football early in the third quarter. The Bobcats have had numerous opportunities to turn this into a legitimate upset watch but have squandered most of them. A missed field goal attempt ended their most-recent drive. Pinned Nebraska’s misery Half: Oklahoma 35, Nebraska 7 For full coverage of the game CLICK HERE. But long-term, how bad are things going to get for Nebraska this season? Trailing 35-7 at half and on the cusp of falling to 1-3, the Cornhuskers get a much-needed bye before playing Indiana, Rutgers and Purdue in consecutive weeks. Before the season, you might’ve expected wins in all three. But a 1-2 stretch seems like the best hope at this point, which would put them at 2-5 entering a tough finishing stretch. 4-8 might be optimistic at this rate. Pinned Upset watch! Half: Southern Illinois 14, Northwestern 14 Half: Cincinnati 24, Miami (Ohio) 17 Coming off a loss to Duke last week, Northwestern continues to struggle, which must leave Nebraska fans wondering what in the world happened in Week 0. Meanwhile, Cincinnati is on the road against an in-state MAC foe and just had to claw back from a 17-7 deficit in order to take a lead into halftime. Impressive job to close the half, but more drama there than expected. Pinned Purdue leads Half: Purdue 9, Syracuse 3 In a sneaky good ACC vs. Big Ten matchup, Purdue leads Syracuse 9-3 at halftime after both defenses played well in the first half. Neither offense got much going. The Orange missed a field goal with 3:09 left in the first half that could have made it 9-6. Garrett Shrader has been getting rave reviews for his improvement but is just 4 of 9 through the Orange so far. Purdue, meanwhile, cannot run the ball. Pinned Georgia cruising in Columbia HALF: Georgia 24, South Carolina 0 Georgia leads South Carolina 24-0 at halftime in a game that feels every bit as much of a mismatch as the score suggests. The most exciting aspect of the second half could be seeing whether or not the Gamecocks can score, or if Georgia will hold on for a shutout. South Carolina has 153 yards of offense but has gone 1-for-7 on third and fourth downs combined, while the Georgia offense is having a much easier time. Stetson Bennett has thrown for 166 yards and a touchdown while leading the Dawgs in rushing with 25 yards as well. His lone touchdown toss included a spectacular grab by Brock Bowers, who has caught four passes for 43 yards. Spencer Rattler is 10/18 for 93 yards and an interception for South Carolina. Pinned Georgia cruising Half: Georgia 24, South Carolina 0 South Carolina moved the football in spurts in the first half, but an interception and a turnover on downs doomed their two most promising possessions. The Gamecocks had few answers defensively as star sophomore tight end Brock Bowers showed off with a nice TD catch and a TD run on a gadget play for Georgia. Looks like Stetson Bennett may be struggling with the heat a little bit, but he had a nice first half going 13 of 20 through the air and also running for 25 yards. Pinned Baylor up  Half: Baylor 21, Texas State 7 It hasn’t been the most inspiring performance from the Baylor passing game, and the run-game has been mostly feast or famine, but the Bears have a two-score lead on in-state foe Texas State. The Bobcats pulled with 14-7 before Blake Shapen’s 35-yard TD run with 26 seconds left in the half gave Baylor a bit of breathing room entering the break. But Baylor is not out of the woods here. Pinned Wildcats in command Half: Kentucky 21, Youngstown State 0 After a scoreless first quarter, Kentucky hung 21 on Youngstown State in the second quarter to take a commanding lead into halftime. Most impressive has been the defensive effort as YSU has just 54 total yards and a single first down at the half. UK plays Northern Illinois next week and should have a great chance to be 4-0 entering entering a game with Ole Miss on Oct. 1. Pinned CBS Expert Picks All seven members of our college football expert panel are above .500 against the spread through two weeks of the 2022 college football season. That’s a pretty great start, so you may want to check out what we’re forecasting for Week 3. Go ahead and bookmark this page, as it updates in the middle of each week with our picks for the upcoming Saturday. Pinned Michigan turns it on Early 2Q: Michigan 24, UConn 0 Michigan quickly put the three-and-out on its second possession in the rearview and has jumped out to a huge early lead against UConn. A UConn fumble and a blocked punt have given Michigan a couple of short fields, J.J. McCarthy is 8 of 11 for 113 yards early and the defense has limited the Huskies to just 16 total yards. Will be nice to see Michigan finally play someone in a couple weeks. Pinned Nice stand for Baylor Late 2Q: Baylor 14, Texas State x Leading 14-0, Baylor was on its heels as Texas State put together a 14-play drive deep into Bears’ territory. But Baylor’s defense just stood tall on fourth-and-goal. After an earlier turnover on downs, the Bobcats opted to go bold again and it backfired. So the Bears are still pitching a shutout after bending but not breaking twice here in the first half. Pinned Fornelli’s Six Pack If there’s ever a time to latch on with Tom Fornelli’s picks, this is it. As he notes, it’s not been “the best start” for The Six Pack in 2022. That’s exactly why you should start paying attention. Tom won’t stay down long, and he trusts the process better than anyone. Check out his picks for the week here. In Tom’s defense, he’s 25-18 against the spread picking games involving top 25 teams so far. Pinned Value plays Shehan Jeyarajah has proven to have a keen eye for picking underdogs straight up. He’s back this week with more value plays to contemplate for Week 3. Given how many ranked teams are heavy favorites it takes an expert to identify the potential trouble spots. But as Shehan notes, “with every team now multiple games into the season, trends are starting to come into focus.” Check out his piece (CLICK HERE). Pinned Georgia up, but South Carolina getting tricky End Q1: No. 1 Georgia 14, South Carolina 0 The Bulldogs extended its lead to two touchdowns with a Kendall Milton one-yard touchdown run, but the Beamer Ball showed up late in the first quarter when head coach Shane Beamer reached into the bag of tricks on special teams. He called a fake punt that saw Kai Kroeger look off a linebacker and hit Traveon Kenion for 20 yards to extend the drive and give the Gamecocks a chance to make a dent in the scoreboard as they swap sides at the end of the first.  Pinned Oklahoma wakes up End 1Q: Oklahoma 14, Nebraska 7 After a sluggish start, Oklahoma fell behind 7-0 and the upset vibes were strong in Lincoln. But the Sooners have since settled down and continued to expose the Nebraska defense for the developing unit that it is.Sooners will have a first-and-goal to start the second quarter. For more from this game, follow our full live game coverage here (CLICK HERE) Pinned Setting the table Dennis Dodd sets up some of this week’s biggest storylines by touching on Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M, Georgia’s resumption of dominance, the allure of Oklahoma-Nebraska, USC’s test vs. Fresno State, Bobby Petrino’s return to Arkansas and more. Check out his full story as we inch closer to the start of Week 3 action. There may not be a ton of marquee matchups today, but the storylines are plentiful. Pinned Kentucky scores Early 2Q: Kentucky 7, Youngstown State 0 It took a minute, but Kentucky finally gets gong with a score early in the second quarter to cap a 35-yard drive. Wildcats went punt, punt, INT on their first three possessions. But their defense was stingy during that span, forcing three straight three-and-outs. UK looking to avoid the hangover effect after a big win at Florida last week. Pinned SEC picks Barrett Sallee made picks for every game involving an SEC team against an FCS opponent. Late-Breaking Data Show Breadth Of Abbott’s Minimally Invasive Structural Heart Technologies – PR Newswire https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/late-breaking-data-show-breadth-of-abbotts-minimally-invasive-structural-heart-technologies-pr-newswire/ Five late-breaking presentations at TCT 2022 highlight the impact of Abbott’s structural heart devices to repair or replace heart valves and close openings in the heart New data reinforce the safety and effectiveness of MitraClip for treating mitral regurgitation Results also demonstrate the benefits of Abbott’s TriClip for tricuspid regurgitation, Amulet for stroke reduction in patients with atrial fibrillation and Portico for aortic stenosis , /PRNewswire/ — Abbott ( NYSE: ABT) today announced data from five late-breaking presentations showing the benefits of its minimally invasive devices in treating people with a range of structural heart diseases. Data include findings that reinforce the value of MitraClip, the world’s first and leading transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) device, to treat leaky valves in people with mitral regurgitation (MR).   The new data around Abbott’s structural heart therapies were presented at the 34th Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) annual scientific symposium of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in Boston (September 16-19, 2022). Results were also presented on TriClip, the first therapy designed specifically for tricuspid heart valve repair; the Amplatzer Amulet Left Atrial Appendage Occluder, a minimally invasive option offering the most complete closure of the left atrial appendage (LAA) to reduce risk of stroke; and Portico, a self-expanding transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) system. Structural heart diseases such as valve disease or openings in the heart that require closure can impair how the heart moves blood through the body. New minimally invasive technology has changed how physicians approach patient care and limits the need for more complex or risky surgery. MitraClip EXPAND G4 Post-Approval Study  Data presented from the prospective, multi-center, global real-world EXPAND G4 study support the safety and effectiveness of the MitraClip G4 system for treating MR. The study represents the largest report of 30-day core lab-assessed outcomes, which included more than 1,000 patients. The data confirm that MitraClip offers high success rates in terms of MR reduction, improvements in quality of life and low adverse event rates. Key findings through 30 days include: Significant MR reduction to mild or less (≤ grade 1+ on a four-point scale) is achieved in 91% of patients, with lowest reported adverse event rates to date (1.3% all-cause mortality at 30 days) Clinical improvements including 83% of patients achieving New York Heart Association (NYHA) Functional Class I/II (a classification of functional limitations resulting from cardiac disease, with Class I/II meaning slight or no limitation of physical activity), an improvement of 52% from baseline of 31%; and an 18-point improvement in the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire (KCCQ) score (a self-assessment of social abilities, symptoms and quality of life), a 35% improvement from baseline score Multiple clip sizes enable tailoring the therapy to patients’ mitral valve anatomy and expand the spectrum of TEER-suitable patients “MitraClip therapy has fundamentally changed the way doctors treat mitral regurgitation, provides a valuable therapy option that does not require open-heart surgery, and goes beyond simply managing symptoms with medications,” said Jason Rogers, M.D., professor of cardiovascular medicine and director of interventional cardiology and structural heart training programs at the University of California, Davis Medical Center. “These late-breaking data demonstrate and strengthen the evidence that Abbott’s MitraClip system consistently reduces MR in a broad range of patients, while restoring proper function of the mitral valve and improving patients’ quality of life.”  The MitraClip system has been commercially available in the U.S. since 2013 and in Europe since 2008. With more than 150,000 patients treated worldwide, MitraClip is approved in more than 75 countries, spanning regions in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australia. “These results add to what’s been proven through nearly two decades of clinical experience in transcatheter mitral repair – MitraClip provides long-term, significant mitral regurgitation reduction that changes and saves lives,” said Michael Dale, senior vice president of Abbott’s structural heart business. “Abbott was the first to offer a transcatheter mitral valve repair device that provides a minimally invasive treatment option for patients with MR who would otherwise go untreated, and we remain committed to addressing the unmet needs of people with structural heart conditions.” First Results from the TriClip TRILUMINATE Pivotal Trial TRILUMINATE Pivotal is the first randomized, controlled clinical trial evaluating the safety and effectiveness of TEER with TriClip in 700 patients with severe TR in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The data from the roll-in cohort through 30 days show: High implant success rate (99%) At least a one-grade TR reduction in 91% of patients, with moderate or less residual TR achieved in 74% Patients achieving around a 17-point improvement in the KCCQ score, a 30% improvement from baseline score, which demonstrates a substantial improvement in their quality of life Three-Year Outcomes from the Amulet IDE Study The Amplatzer Amulet LAA Occluder with dual-seal technology (consisting of a lobe or piece to fill the cavity of the LAA and a disc to close off the opening into the LAA) is the first and only minimally invasive treatment option to offer immediate and complete dual-sealing closure of the LAA, reducing the risk of stroke and eliminating the need for blood-thinning medication. The prospective, international, multi-center Amulet IDE trial is the largest randomized LAA occlusion study to date consisting of more than 1,800 patients, and three-year outcomes demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of Amulet, with data showing: Device-related factors (device-related thrombosis or peri-device leak) more frequently preceded strokes in patients with Boston Scientific’s Watchman‡ than those with Amulet Both cardiovascular and all-cause death trended higher in the Watchman device than the Amulet device PREDICT-LAA Trial (Amulet) Data were also presented from the PREDICT-LAA prospective, multi-center, randomized controlled trial that studied if the use of cardiac computed tomography-based computational models (high-resolution scans of patients’ hearts generated by FEops HEARTguide‡) help in the planning of Amplatzer Amulet procedures. Key findings at three months include: Improved procedural efficiency and safety outcomes with the Amplatzer Amulet LAA Occluder were achieved when planned with HEARTguide Portico CONFIDENCE Registry The CONFIDENCE Registry is an international, prospective, real-world study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the Portico TAVI valve using the first-generation Portico delivery system in 501 patients and the second-generation FlexNav delivery system in 500 patients. Late-breaking data on valve hemodynamics (blood flow) at 30 days and one-year survival following implantation of the Portico TAVI device will be presented at TCT on Sunday, Sept. 18 For U.S. important safety information on MitraClip, visit http://abbo.tt/MitraClipG4ISI.  For U.S. important safety information on Amulet, visit https://abbo.tt/AmuletISI. Foretales Assessment: Canal A Good Impact On A Tabletop Deckbuilding From Hand Of Destinys – Game News 24 – Game News 24 https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/foretales-assessment-canal-a-good-impact-on-a-tabletop-deckbuilding-from-hand-of-destinys-game-news-24-game-news-24/ Foretales assessment This card sport is powered by sturdy puzzles, very nice characters and huge ethical struggles to contemplate. Alkemi developer. Writer: The Village is very affordable! Don’t hurry here: September 15. On: Home window on. From: ‘Death, GOG’, Epic Games Store, etc. All things considered to be worth 15/18/18. Hand of the Dead was a singular factor. At the first glance, it was a popular deckbuilding sport where you found yourself purchasing and playing through like-like dungeons and choosing to play cards with his mysterious Broker. At the opposite of all, it was also an action-packed hack and slasher, bringing the awesome combat section to existence in essentially 3-D battle arenas. It hasn’t found it surprising to be there since it came. That kind of combat gadget did not go to a stop. Fortunately, now we have got the Foretales infinitely extra intimiding, a new eracard by Alkemi, and a rattling over the sheerity of this hand-to-be special. The fact that it won’t ever challenge into the nation-states of 3-D seems to be erring extra toward the Inscryption college of tabletop battle encounters is that there’s no real problem – it is a hoistful journey of writing, and with playing cards and playing cards by myself. In contrast to that with Hand Of Destiny, this isn’t a single and accomplished affair. It is a great attempt, with a few paths to take on, and you’ll have to face a few unforeseen challenges while you try to break a string of absurd dreams threatening to become anthropomorphic international. You won’t be able to combat all of them right through the unmarried playthrough, however its expensive alternatives most effective make its overarching tale much more gripping. It’s a thief of the shoebill, who steals much gold. As a gift from a richly-smoothed little John-esque archer pal, Leo, that was a tiger, he’s got to steal a mysterious lyre from his home. Their prize holds up unpublished secrets and techniques as well as any proper journey stories. More particularly, the option to look into the longer term, for Volepain should decide, and which lives he will save within the procedure. With the most effective method, the most effective way of selecting a whole set of turns, or missions, is the right way of expressing the ethic crisis, thus taking its path a farside. That most effective makes them all a lot riper for 2d playthroughs; Foretales will get the perfect quantity of mileage out of its easy deckbuilding components. You spot, the entire sport is performed in tabletop table, with the playing cards at the desk and with all other players on your present project. To develop through its more than a few areas, players should get from their birthday party to acquire positive play cards, so they could be able to produce results that advance the tale. As a thief for example Volepain has some pickpocket playing cards, which may help him carry meals and cash from his unspecting townsfolk’s handbags, which he can easily enjoy. Since Leos have heightened sense of sensation, in the meantime, method he can often sniff out indigenous tavern or berry bush from neighbouring streets and wooded pathways to improve his adventure. The power of these consumable useful resources playing cards to place different opportunities will possibly open up different spaces and the cycle starts again. Eventually missions incorporate all the tabletop into the story puzzle, making artful use of everything and its parts for a nice effect. Likewise, there will likely be lots of events when the playing cards on your deck wouldn’t impact any of the playing cards this day at the table, and could just get you to the next location, a map from the neatly named and eternally looping location. At any time, the playing cards are arising on the pile and that often the game is still not possible. When doing so, one would wish to make it to the desk with a seemingly unlimited number of points at the desk. But then in order to try to find the other pubs or holler, which then would be likened to the competition from the pirates, you could easily hire the players. Stand up a chairParticular for the design of the tabletop itself, with its lights, sound and color palette constantly moving to replicate the surroundings depicted in the playing cards inside you. Upon being caught out of the ordinary, the sun sat in to the darkness of the daffodilation with it. The sound of a rainstorm is untrue and he’s able to reach an axle, and in some dark dark spaces, it would take another ear, that’s a solitary light and a dry shadow into the window and thawt it in the dark, thanks caves and sewage. It’s vital for Foretales to give you almost all the data you want to make wise, logical decisions. As you view them, the impact of each card is clearly telegraphed prematurely and so you’ll see what is on your discard pile and last birthday party decks to find out whether to buy and sell up some cards on your hand at a price. Look at the number of bandits, watchmen and other neer-do-wells you have at any given time. You will even be prepared for the opportunity of a run-in. The whole thing is extra – not like location play cards, birthday party play cards do not refill themselves robotically. Also, remember to relax each and every time by extra – when you forget extra of them again in play. Requiremently, although as long as they are and now, the stress of being quiet, then becomes riskier through the years, hard increasingly possessed, but instead instead do it too unstoppable, and it’s a very good time to sport. It is very difficult – and since it is the only way to see the best card for the process and to act if you need the right tool, it requires much effort. Although all projects restricted choice of relaxation issues, I discovered that there had been enormous space for experimentation and preparation or even to make an effort out of those problems. Previous this week, I spent an additional hour trying to determine cause of a selected puzzle, called the moth monument, and also ensure it was on a proper facet of the table when it came to the mail. While I was here for about all of my time away, I finally finished the task with some serious concern. This is the project display that is represented via playing cards that turn over and become to be had. Since there’s one crisis you have not decided which time should you like to move on to the next adventure. That said, there have been times when Foretales generally is a little softer at communicating with avid gamers when they are completely unequipped to handle positive missions. There may be a touch button that helped me to remark when I attempted multiple instances, so there used to be a example if I had a library to learn an ebook, but I wasn’t really to think what card games I should play to do that by giving me a touch button. Nothing in my deck perceived to be the best impact, and neither of my consumables perceived to both of them. I believe I wanted an unedited personality, but to be honest, I can’t change my mind so I continue to stay a bit spherical & spherical until I resigned to the menu menu to take some extra time to put on something else. While it focuses on all the options, let alone just a word of hope for the long term, I don’t think there will be nations of plausibility if Volepain additionally realized that, hiya, no of the truth is I don’t exactly understand the whole truth as to that purpose, and the reason is that I couldn’t comprehend and say what a simple reason is I was to lose my grasp on the point where I had had no idea exactly what it was and who was the correct person to have Despite that, it isn’t gratifying having to desert something you don’t know the solution, so it was my room where Foretales made an uncomfortable look at the face. Boss encounters ceaselessly have their very own amusing puzzle twist as well. Excluded this guy. He was a proper previous turd. In other places, I had a huge impact, and i began to appreciate the variety of selections in its mission, even if many levels began to recycling the similar sites you visited earlier. Even though, these Herbalist gardens could actually glance the same way that you skept into to scouse borrow this fateful lyre from here again, if it were actually right again, then you will probably become a cultist as well, rather than simply fending off guards and exploiting these old farmers to take the landfront. You might even like the torch play cards to remove the dark glow from the darkened mine as you search for a creature who would possibly just hang the important thing to the plague-like Beastilence ravaging the land. While you get around the cheeky bugger as part of the overall location card cycle, he will scarp again into its folds despite all the changes in the card that occupied the desk previously were illuminated. Until then, I would never forget the concept of one of two cards whilst still keeping an eye on the remaining one, but the entire taking part in box is part of the puzzle and one thing an even earlier mining project, looking at the performance of Volepains father on the lookout for his dad failed. Although the difference between foretales and foretales is that, its turning-based actions emphasize craft and international relationships as much as sheer brute power. There are positive, a slicer, a roller and a chucker in at them, and a spoonful of kebabs, for them to make a mistake, and then an iron, enumerate, and apologies like that to disorient them, however success is most enjoyable at every time you are not shedding a single drop of blood through the procedure. In Foretales there are a few techniques to attain the succ...

When the Ethereum Merge finally concluded on September 15th, investors didn’t see the massive market shift they were anticipating. However, one significant outcome of this event was that meme-inspired cryptocurrency Dogecoin has now become the second-largest Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus-based network, trailing only the Bitcoin network in terms of market value. According to ETHPoW’s official Twitter account, Dogecoin is likely to compete with ETHPoW, which is the Ethereum PoW hard fork chain that is expected to keep mining. Bitcoin is still the most valuable PoW blockchain with a market capitalization of $380 billion, based on data by TradingView. Next to Bitcoin and Dogecoin, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin, and Monero have the third, fourth, and fifth largest PoW blockchains, respectively. Image: Coinsfera Bagging 10th Place In Top Crypto List Dogecoin was launched in 2013 and has since risen to the top 10 cryptocurrency rankings. The crypto is currently trading at $0.060888, a decrease of 4.8% over the last seven days. The joke coin is now ranked 10th on Coingecko’s list of the leading cryptocurrencies. In the previous 24 hours, BTC was trading at $19,709, down 2.5%, while ETH was trading at $1,474, falling 9.7%. As with Bitcoin, DOGE is mined using proof of work, which requires miners to use powerful computers and a significant amount of energy to solve complex mathematical problems in order to validate transactions and earn DOGE. Regulatory authorities have recently upped their monitoring of network validators as many nations advocate for a total ban on crypto mining activities since they place a significant strain on national grids. Dogecoin PoS Transition In The Drawing Boards Approximately 14.4 million DOGE are mined daily, according to the cryptocurrency tracking platform Currency.com, adding to the coin’s supply of 132.6 billion. In contrast to Bitcoin, which has a restricted supply of 21 million, Dogecoin has no supply limit. Meanwhile, the Dogecoin Foundation has been contemplating a transition of Dogecoin to a proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism after Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who is also an advisor to the foundation, suggested the change in September of last year. In recent years, the dog-inspired crypto has gained an odd champion in the world’s richest person, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, who has tweeted about the coin as far back as 2019 and on multiple times caused the price of Dogecoin to surge. US-Backed Syrian Forces Free Women In 3-Week Raid Of IS Camp The Washington Post
US-Backed Syrian Forces Free Women In 3-Week Raid Of IS Camp – The Washington Post https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/us-backed-syrian-forces-free-women-in-3-week-raid-of-is-camp-the-washington-post/ BEIRUT — U.S.-backed Syrian fighters said Saturday they have concluded a 24-day sweep at a sprawling camp in northeast Syria housing tens of thousands of women and children linked to the Islamic State group. Dozens of extremists were detained and weapons were confiscated in the operation at al-Hol camp, which began on Aug. 25, the U.S.-backed forces said. The U.S.-backed force said two of its fighters were killed in clashes with extremists inside the camp during the operation. IS sleeper cells preparing a new generation of militants — boys and girls being fed extremist ideology to eventually try and set up a second so-called Islamic State caliphate — were also uncovered, the statement by the Internal Security Forces said. It added that the operation was assisted by the U.S.-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces as well as members of the U.S.-led coalition. The operation at al-Hol in the northeastern province of Hassakeh also led to the release of two Yazidi girls taken from Iraq as sex slaves years ago and four non-Yazidi women, who had been chained and subjected to torture. “The operation was launched following the increasing crimes of killing and torture committed by ISIS cells against the camp residents,” said the statement from the U.S.-backed forces, using another acronym for the Islamic State group. It added that since the beginning of the year, the extremists have killed 44 camp residents and humanitarian workers. The statement also said that 226 people, including 36 women, were detained in al-Hol — widely seen as a breeding ground for the IS. Some 50,000 Syrians and Iraqis are crowded into tents in the fenced-in camp. Nearly 20,000 of them are children; most of the rest are women, wives and widows of IS fighters. In a separate, heavily guarded section of the camp known as the annex are an additional 2,000 women from 57 other countries — they are considered the most die-hard IS supporters — along with their children, numbering about 8,000. “ISIS has depended mainly on women and children, as real resources related directly to the ISIS leaders, to maintain the ISIS extremist ideology and spread it in the camp,” the statement said. The camp was initially used to house the families of IS fighters in late 2018 as U.S.-backed Kurdish-led forces recaptured territory in eastern Syria from the militants. In March 2019, they seized the last IS-held villages, ending the “caliphate” that the group had declared over large parts of Iraq and Syria in 2014. The United States and other nations have struggled to repatriate the families, but have had only very limited success.

Soak In The Seaside Charm Of Shanklin On The Isle Of Wight TheTravel
Soak In The Seaside Charm Of Shanklin, On The Isle Of Wight – TheTravel https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/soak-in-the-seaside-charm-of-shanklin-on-the-isle-of-wight-thetravel/ Many say The Isle of Wight transcends the living. Shanklin seems to be a charming town that checks all the boxes for a family vacation that involves getting sand on the clothes. It has a long stretch of golden sandy shore surrounded by a boardwalk on the upper edge of the waterfront that is lined with seafood eateries, fantastic golf resorts, arcade games, and ice cream stalls. But Shanklin is much more than simply a beach town, as visitors to the town will find out. This coastal valley is covered in exotic mosses and plants and has drawn famous Georgian visitors, including John Keats and Jane Austen. The historic Shanklin town looks like something out of a gift box featuring rustic homes and tiny handmade goods stores. So let’s peek at what this quaint town on the Isle of Wight offers visitors apart from one of the beautiful beaches of England. Places Worth Checking Out In Shanklin The Shanklin Beach The Isle of Wight is famous for its beaches, and one of them is here. Shanklin Beach boasts a mile of golden, smooth sand, being among the finest beaches on the Isle. There are a lot of shallow areas for smaller surfers to splash around in because the beach slopes gently towards the ocean. Behind them is a high shoreline with a boardwalk on top, complete with all the amenities visitors might want for an exciting or peaceful day. Moving southwards, visitors can see a pretty line of colored beach cottages where everything becomes a little calmer. The Shanklin Cline For over two centuries, Shanklin Chine has been a tourist magnet. It is a seaside valley that cuts through the floppy sandstone rocks. There is a historical facility offering information on the natural and cultural past of the ravine, in addition to trails and bridges carved out of the ravine’s slopes for finer glimpses of the lush foliage and rapids. The 400-meter-long chine, featuring a 32-meter plunge, hasn’t changed significantly. Visitors can travel at night during the summer months to Chine Lumiere, where magical illuminations highlight the walkways, waterfalls, and lush gorge sides. The Shanklin Old Village In the quaint Old Village, which is home to several of the Isle’s earliest homes, on the way to Shanklin Chine, visitors will have a glimpse of Shanklin before tourists arrive. The ancient village is filled with thatched homes, snug taverns, tearooms, and eateries. A cute small mews boasting six art galleries and a store that sells giftable souvenirs is located up the alley next to the Village Inn tavern. The Vernon Chalet Gift Shop, also serving as Shanklin’s visitor center, is located in the heart of the Old Town. The Rylstone Gardens A gorgeous park located atop the rock at the southern edge of Shanklin Beach and is also a part of the Rylstone Mansion estate. When people visit Rylstone Gardens, they could play a game of pitching and short par golf and then relax in the teahouse while enjoying a protected view of the golf resort. An alfresco platform in the park hosts midday and evening performances throughout the summer. The Pirates Cove & Jurassic Bay Adventure Golf The two crazy golf resorts in Shanklin are created with great ingenuity and precision and are a favorite among families. The Pirates Bay Entertainment Park has all the newest outdoor entertainment trends, including bumper rafts, trampolines, swing sets, zorbing balls, and small go-karts. A model, pirate vessel, fountains, a grotto, coconut palms, and other landscaping features decorate the circuit with a pirate motif. The Jurassic Beach range is set amid tropical flora and has realistic dinosaurs figurines. The Devil’s Chimney In Undercliff, which is fairly close to Shanklin, there is a peculiar natural feature. Visitors could climb down to the Bonchurch Landslips by navigating a steep and extremely narrow crack in the higher rock. Although the walk is short, it is on a steep hill and is occasionally damp, so people may want to wear sturdy shoes. There is a legend that pirates previously hauled cargo from the ocean via this passage to the sea. Well, after an exhausting trek back up the slope, visitors can rest in Smugglers Cove Tea Gardens at the trail’s summit. Lodging In Shanklin Channel View Hotel The Channel View Hotel provides lodging with a tavern, a communal lounge, complimentary parking, and dining. This three-star hotel provides complimentary internet access, concierge services, and a baggage locker. Reception service and an infinity pool are also available. Every room comes with a television, a closet, and an ensuite bathroom. Some of the accommodations at the hotel also have ocean views. The lodging offers a variety of breakfast selections each morning, including transatlantic, Irish, and Full English. Luccombe Manor Hotel The Luccombe Manor Hotel provides accommodations with private bathrooms and expansive overlooks of Shanklin Beach. There are several leisure amenities available to visitors, such as a thermal spa bath and outdoor hot pool. The restaurant, featuring French doors looking out onto the lawns, is where breakfast is offered. High tea and refreshments are also offered seasonally. Medehamstede Hotel The Medehamstede Hotel has limited complimentary parking and is surrounded by well-maintained lawns. The hotel’s rooms have a television, a beverage maker, and a private bathroom. The dining has a substantial, diverse menu and could accommodate vegans or vegetarians. The pub area has various leisure activities, including bingo and classic pub trivia. Visitors can enjoy a pleasant breath of fresh air from the big metropolis in the picturesque small village of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. It is undoubtedly a location that every traveler should visit.

How LinkedIn Became A Place To Overshare Deccan Herald
How LinkedIn Became A Place To Overshare – Deccan Herald https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/how-linkedin-became-a-place-to-overshare-deccan-herald/ About three years ago, Joel Lalgee started posting on LinkedIn. He works in recruiting, so naturally, he spent a lot of time on the site, where people list their work experience and job seekers look for their next gig. But he didn’t just write about work. He wrote about his personal life: the mental health challenges he faced as a teenager, and his life since. “Being able to share my story, I saw it as a way to connect with people and show you’re not alone,” he said. Something else happened, too. “Six months in, I started seeing a big increase in engagement, followers, inbound business leads,” said Lalgee, 35. He now has more than 140,000 followers on LinkedIn, up from the 9,000 he had before he started posting. “The way you can go viral is to be really vulnerable,” he said, adding, “Old school LinkedIn was definitely not like this.” Read | LinkedIn and UN Women join hands to create employment LinkedIn, which was started in 2003, was first known primarily as a place to share résumés and connect with co-workers. It later added a newsfeed and introduced ways for users to post text and videos. The site now has more than 830 million users who generate about 8 million posts and comments daily. Since the start of the pandemic, as office workers missed in-person interactions with colleagues, many people turned to LinkedIn to help make up for what they had lost. They started talking about more than just work. The boundaries between office and home lives became blurrier than ever. As personal circumstances bled into workdays, people felt emboldened to share with their professional peers — and found interested audiences both in and beyond their networks. Users, including some who had left Facebook or felt guilty about using it during work, found they could scroll through LinkedIn and still feel that they were working. And for those hoping to make a splash and build an audience, LinkedIn proved an easier place to get noticed than more saturated sites. Karen Shafrir Vladeck, a recruiter in Austin, Texas, who posts frequently on LinkedIn, said the site was “low-hanging fruit” compared with crowded platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. Read | Bill Gates encourages jobseekers by sharing 48-year-old resume on LinkedIn During the pandemic, many people also wanted to post about social justice topics that, while far from the historically staid fare of the site, affected their work lives: In 2020, Black LinkedIn took off with posts about systemic racism. “After the murder of George Floyd, a lot of folks were like, ‘I know this is unusual LinkedIn talk, but I’m going to talk about race,’” said Lily Zheng, a diversity, equity and inclusion consultant. This summer, after the Supreme Court ruling on abortion, some women posted their own abortion stories. Now, users find on a typical day that between job listings and “I’m happy to announce” posts are viral selfies of people crying, announcements about weddings and long reflections about overcoming illnesses. Not all are happy about the changes. Some said they find they cannot use the site in the same way. A newsfeed crowded with personal posts, they said, can distract from the information they seek on LinkedIn. “Early in the pandemic, we started seeing content we really hadn’t seen before,” said Daniel Roth, a vice president and the editor-in-chief of LinkedIn. He said he noticed people posting about mental health, burnout and stress. “These were unusual posts for people where they were being much more vulnerable on LinkedIn,” he said. It wasn’t as if no one had broached those topics on the site before but, Roth said, it was “nothing like the volume” that LinkedIn started seeing in the spring of 2020, and continued seeing over the next two years. LinkedIn is not encouraging, or discouraging, the intimate posts. “In terms of the personal content, I wouldn’t say that we got too involved there,” Roth said. But it is encouraging influencers to join the site in the hope that they will post about topics such as leadership. The company walks a fine line, as it tries to encourage engagement on the site while protecting the professional context that it says its users expect. Roth said posts about skills and work accomplishments — more classic office fare — have seen increased engagement in the past year. In a survey of about 2,000 employed adults this year, LinkedIn found that 60 per cent said their definition of “professional” had changed since the start of the pandemic. “LinkedIn’s purpose for existing is changing,” said Zheng, who uses they/them pronouns. As is true in a workplace, sharing personal information on LinkedIn can foster a sense of belonging — but it can also lead to regrets. Zheng, who has more than 100,000 followers on LinkedIn, said companies are asking, “How much disclosure is allowed under this changing definition of professionalism? It’s not an answer that exists yet.” “There is a tension here. On the one hand, we want to support workers’ self-expression and self-disclosure,” Zheng said. But, at the same time, they added, workers should feel free to maintain boundaries between their personal and work lives, including on LinkedIn. Over the past couple years, LinkedIn has been trying to encourage content that will keep users engaged on the site: Last year, LinkedIn started a creator accelerator program to recruit influencers. A spokesperson for LinkedIn, Suzi Owens, said it was rolling out new tools and formats for posting. In the past, LinkedIn influencers were often “thought leaders,” including business pundits or executives who post advice to millions of followers. More recently, content creators from TikTok and YouTube, including stars such as Mr. Beast, have also joined LinkedIn. Although LinkedIn is recruiting influencers, Roth said, “there shouldn’t be that much content that goes viral.” He added that most posts should only reach people’s own networks. A full-time content creator who participated in LinkedIn’s creator accelerator program recently posted something that went well beyond her own network — and saw how far a more personal tone could reach. “I had a post that went absolutely viral on LinkedIn,” said the influencer, who uses the name Natalie Rose in her work. The post, a crying selfie with a caption about anxiety and the reality of being an influencer, got more than 2.7 million impressions. “That led to me having some business opportunities with anxiety apps, things like that,” she said. “I got a lot of connections and followers from it, all because I chose to be vulnerable in a post.” Rose, 26, said she used to think of LinkedIn as an online résumé. “In my understanding, it was kind of used for old people,” she said. But her thinking has changed. “I 100 per cent view it as a social media platform now.” She added that she found commenters more positive and mature than audiences on TikTok, where she has 2.7 million followers. Roth said he does not see LinkedIn as a social media platform in the vein of TikTok or Facebook — although some users see parallels and don’t like it. They frequently, grumpily comment that “this isn’t Facebook” on personal LinkedIn posts. Sofía Martín Jiménez, 30, used to be a LinkedIn power user. She used it all the time for a previous job in recruiting and often scrolled through her newsfeed to seek book recommendations and keep up with articles about her field. Since the pandemic began, Jiménez, who lives in Madrid, said her feed has become so cluttered with people’s deeply personal updates — stories of coping with a loved one’s death or overcoming an illness — that it is nearly unusable for professional tasks. “Now the feed is an obstacle,” she said. “I had to change my way of working on LinkedIn.” She now uses keywords to directly search for people’s profiles and avoids the homepage. Last year, Lalgee started to feel ambivalent about the attention he got from his personal posts. He wondered whether the hope of reaching a wide audience was leading people to share more than they should, or even to post emotional stories for attention. “It creates almost a false sense of vulnerability,” he said. “And then it becomes really hard to know, is this person genuine, or are they just doing it to go viral?” Owens said the company plans to continue rolling out product changes to ensure that people see relevant content in their feeds. “What’s unique about LinkedIn is that it’s not creation for the sake of entertainment — it’s about creation for economic opportunity,” she said. For those who want to see their life updates reach a wide audience, there is a cottage industry of consultants — and even a parody viral LinkedIn post generator — to help. John Nemo, a consultant who specializes in generating business leads for clients on LinkedIn, said he coaches people to follow a formula: “personal story + business lesson = the content.” He demonstrated his formula with news about the death of a hypothetical dog named Ralph. “Personal story is Ralph died,” he said. “What’s the business lesson in this?” He suggested starting the post with the update: “I lost my best friend yesterday, Ralph the dog, and here’s a photo of us.” Then add an observation about making deals: “One thing I’ve learned in sales is you’re constantly losing, you’re constantly getting rejected, you’re constantly having people abandon you.” Link it back to the dog: “One thing I love about Ralph, as any dog owner knows, is that they’ll never abandon you.” Sprinkle in some business advice: “You can’t get your validation from your sales calls because people reject you all day. You’ve gotta find your validation and self-esteem from loved ones or pets or whatever, religion.” Finally, prompt your followers: “Share a picture of your dog in the comments.” “The more personal it is, the more dramatic it is, as ...

Outdoor Fitness Court May Soon Come To Union Township – The Morning Sun https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/outdoor-fitness-court-may-soon-come-to-union-township-the-morning-sun/ The Union Township Board of Trustees recently approved a new business item related to putting an outdoor fitness court at one of the local parks. The decision occurred to at a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 14. One of the items included the adoption of a Resolution of Intent to participate in the National Fitness Campaign’s outdoor fitness court initiative in Michigan. The approval of the initiative would authorize a FY2022 appropriation of up to $168,000 for the purchase of an outdoor fitness court facility for McDonald Park, using the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds received by the Township. Amending the FY2022 budget to reflect this action is also included in this new business item. This outdoor fitness court initiative is sponsored by Priority Health and intends expand access high quality workouts as way to further promote healthy living. “The Priority Health sponsored initiative in Michigan has resulted in the construction of a number of outdoor fitness courts across the Lower Peninsula over the past several years, with more in planning stages (see map at right),” an action request form from Township Manager Mark Stuhldreher said. “Priority Health has a goal of working with local municipalities, schools, and other institutions to develop 15 more outdoor fitness courts in easily accessible public spaces by 2024. The Charter Township of Union has been identified by Priority Health and the National Fitness Campaign as a desirable location for a new outdoor fitness court location.” The fitness courts offer structures for bodyweight circuit training in seven core movements (core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility, and bend). The court is designed with no moving pieces except for the cables holding the rings. “As designed, the footprint of the National Fitness Campaign’s outdoor fitness court is a 38-foot square space,” the action request form said. “It is barrier-free accessible, with multiple stations designed for persons of all ability levels that are 14 years of age and older.” The Board’s authorization of this would allow staff to submit the Township’s application to participate in the 2022 Fitness Court program and to apply for the $30,000 grant opportunity. “The National Fitness Campaign representative has indicated to staff that the grant would be awarded in the Fall of 2022, the action request form said. “The outdoor fitness court equipment would be purchased, and received by the Township in 2022, with installation and set-up anticipated to take place in the Spring of 2023.” Six members of the Board of Trustees approved this business, though one board member voted against the business item due to wanting more time to fully consider the initiative. What Are Meebits? Metaverse-Ready NFTs From The Creator Of CryptoPunks Decrypt
What Are Meebits? Metaverse-Ready NFTs From The Creator Of CryptoPunks Decrypt
What Are Meebits? Metaverse-Ready NFTs From The Creator Of CryptoPunks – Decrypt https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/what-are-meebits-metaverse-ready-nfts-from-the-creator-of-cryptopunks-decrypt/ Launched in 2017, CryptoPunks were one of the earliest examples of an NFT crypto collectible; a series of 10,000 pixel-art profile pictures (PFPs) with randomized traits. They proved to be a runaway success, with NFT enthusiasts paying tens of millions of dollars for the 24×24 pixel images of apes, aliens and zombies. But for CryptoPunks’ creators Larva Labs, that was only the beginning. In May 2021, Larva Labs returned with Meebits, another Ethereum-based PFP NFT project with double the supply and an additional dimension.  What are Meebits? Like CryptoPunks, Meebits are a series of NFT characters with randomly-generated traits. There are some differences, though; unlike their two-dimensional precursors, Meebits are 3D characters rendered in voxels (so-called because they’re pixels with volume), and there are 20,000 Meebits in total.  Of the 20,000 Meebits, 18,881 are humans, 711 are pigs, 256 are elephants, 72 are robots, 57 are skeletons, 18 are visitors and 5 are dissected (think humans without skins). Visually, Meebits resemble characters from games such as Minecraft or Roblox—and therein lies the key selling point. Meebits and the metaverse Larva Labs is gambling that the 3D models that comprise its Meebits will play a crucial role in the burgeoning metaverse, a persistent, shared virtual world where users interact using avatars.  While some big tech firms are building centralized metaverses where they control all the virtual assets on the platform, Larva Labs and other Web3 pioneers hope to build a truly decentralized metaverse, where users own virtual assets in the form of NFTs—which can be migrated between different metaverse platforms. As such, the ability to own a 3D model of your very own virtual avatar is a compelling prospect – at least, one compelling enough to shoot the project to total all-time sales of $515 million and a floor price of 4.4 ETH as of August 2022, according to data from CryptoSlam.  If you buy a 3D model of one of its blocky voxel characters, you will also receive the entire 3D model and high-definition render of your Meebit. You can port this directly into any metaverse project that supports it – although currently, few do. Although the Meebits look diverse, they have one thing in common: they are, invariably, expensive. That said, some Meebits, particularly the rarer ones, are more expensive than others. Meebit #6337, an algorithmically generated 3D skeleton in a suit, sold for about half a million dollars at a Christie’s auction in September 2021. The 3D NFTs trade as Ethereum ERC-721 tokens on a proprietary marketplace without any fees, but you can also trade them on any Ethereum-based NFT marketplace, such as OpenSea. Meebits and Yuga Labs In March 2022, Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT project, bought from Larva Labs the intellectual property rights for CryptoPunks and Meebits. “This means that we now own the brands, copyright in the art, and other IP rights for both collections, along with 423 CryptoPunks and 1711 Meebits,” said Yuga Labs in a blog post. Some big news to share today: Yuga has acquired the CryptoPunks and Meebits collections from @LarvaLabs, and the first thing we’re doing is giving full commercial rights to the NFT holders. Just like we did for BAYC and MAYC owners. pic.twitter.com/lAIKKvoEDj — Yuga Labs (@yugalabs) March 11, 2022 Yuga Labs’ first step was to grant holders of Meebits the same commercial property rights as holders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. This license lets anyone who has held the NFT use the images contained therein for commercial purposes. Aside from this, Yuga Labs functions as the steward of the Meebit brand, and will encourage its development. Yuga also bought 1,711 Meebits. In July 2022, Yuga added a 5% royalty on secondary sales of Meebits, such as those on OpenSea and LooksRare, to “help keep this Meeb party going (and going and going).”  Yuga did not disclose what else it is building for the project but said its vision “centers around embracing the currents already core to the community—play, DIY experimentation, tech minimalism, and interoperability—and dialing them way up.” How to buy a Meebit Nobody is saying you should buy a Meebit—but if you have a spare few thousand dollars, here’s how.  To take advantage of the gas-free exchange on the Meebits site, the first thing to do is to head to the Meebits site. You can also use a secondary marketplace, such as OpenSea, to buy your Meebits. The difference is that Meebits doesn’t charge fees for trading on its marketplace for transactions of up to 100 Meebits. Either way, check which ones are on sale and connect a Web3 wallet, such as MetaMask, to the site. Right now, for instance, a pig sporting a fetching pair of headphones (Meebit #5979) is selling for just under $95,000 on OpenSea.  You can’t bid for the NFT against other OpenSea bidders on the Meebits marketplace—you’ll have to head to OpenSea for that—but you can trade it for ETH or another Meebit in the Meebit trading terminal. There, you can set an expiration date for your deal and send it off to the owner, to see if they’ll bite. If they do, you’ll lose whatever you forsake in your trade and receive the Meebit in your wallet. Once the Meebit is in your wallet, you can do whatever you like. You could, for instance, set it as your Twitter profile picture. As of August 2022, Meebits aren’t supported by any major Web3 games, but the voxel animation file is yours to play with. Turning Point For The Crypto Community? Where Bitcoin Goes From Here CNBC
Turning Point For The Crypto Community? Where Bitcoin Goes From Here CNBC
Turning Point For The Crypto Community? Where Bitcoin Goes From Here – CNBC https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/turning-point-for-the-crypto-community-where-bitcoin-goes-from-here-cnbc/ It’s been a strenuous year for the crypto business. After hitting a high of more than $68,000 in November 2021, bitcoin has plunged to hover around $20,000. But for long-term ETF investors, some experts advise to take crypto’s comedown in stride. “If you’re going to do this right, then what’s been happening in the past nine months is totally irrelevant,” Ric Edelman, founder of Edelman Financial Services, told Bob Pisani on CNBC’s “ETF Edge” on Monday. “If you’re investing for the next five to 10 years, this is just an ordinary blip in the marketplace, and you ignore it,” he added. But with bitcoin coming off a nearly two-year low, the short-term temperaments are being met with a mix of positive and negative factors that are guiding where the crypto community goes from here. “It’s a really dynamic moment in the market,” Matt Hougan, CIO of Bitwise Asset Management, told Pisani on Monday. A massive technical upgrade in ethereum is a constructive force for the future of the world’s second-largest blockchain, Hougan said. A wave of institutional investors coming into the market, and an influx of venture capital activity are also forward-looking indicators for crypto’s future. On the flipside, regulatory pressures from the Federal Reserve and the Securities and Exchange Commission are working against it. “That’s creating this volatile market where crypto is going up and down and can’t quite figure out which way to go,” Hougan said. “And I think we’re probably stuck there, at least through September.” Edelman explained that for institutional investors to engage with Wall Street firms, endowments and pension funds, regulatory and legislative rules need to be in place. “The adults in the room recognize that regulation is a good thing,” Edelman said. “Right now, we have 1% engaging in crypto. You’re not going to get the other 99% until they have clarity on what the rules of the road are. “We’re seeing new rules coming out from the Treasury, IRS, FINRA and from the Fed,” he said. “And from the SEC and CFTC. We’ve got over 50 bills in Congress right now. And all of this is very healthy.” SEC Chair Gary Gensler has said the agency should have a major enforcement role in crypto, particularly for tokens. In a speech this month, Gensler sounded a warning signal to organizations he believes are violating existing securities laws, asking staff to possibly “fine-tune compliance for crypto security tokens and intermediaries.” “I think there was a pretty direct threat against crypto trading venues – large-scale entities like Coinbase,” Hougan said. “They’re clearly on his horizon.” In July, shares of the crypto firm tumbled after it was announced that it was facing an SEC probe into whether the platform offered unregistered securities. “I’m happy to say it again and again: we are confident that our rigorous diligence process — a process the SEC has already reviewed — keeps securities off our platform,” said Coinbase’s chief legal officer Paul Grewal on Twitter. Proposals for more SEC oversight of the crypto community are likely to be met with hostility from the community itself, although the agency has already taken steps to enforce its regulatory agenda. In February, the SEC charged BlockFi Lending with failing to register the offer and sale of its retail crypto lending product. The firm agreed to settle the charges, paying a $50 million penalty and ceasing unregistered offers and sales of the lending product.  “A year from now, the large trading venues will be in the process of registering with the SEC,” Hougan said. “I think individual tokens, it’s a much longer term.” Although the speculative assets have a challenging path forward, Edelman said the number of people who own cryptocurrencies continues to be a steadily rising figure. “What’s interesting is that, despite the fact that [Coinbase is] down 70% from its high, the number of people who own it is unchanged,” he said. “Which means that those who wanted are not fazed by this.” Beyond the crypto community, rates of adoption from large investment firms demonstrate that digital currencies are being embraced by Wall Street, Hougan said. “Blackrock and Schwab coming in reinforces to everyday investor that bitcoin is not going away,” Hougan said. “I think that’s now been settled. It’s now how big is that future.”

Keo Rosine (Helmke) ORourke Hays Post
Keo Rosine (Helmke) O’Rourke – Hays Post https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/keo-rosine-helmke-orourke-hays-post/ Keo O’Rourke, née Keo Helmke, was born August 17, 1932, to George Helmke and Rosa Bergner in a farm house 3 miles northeast of Iuka, KS. She was the youngest of five siblings, Dorothy Bales, Florence Curley, Flossie Ukena, and Ruth Lord, all deceased, and Benjamin Helmke of Ann Arbor, MI. She was raised during the depression on the family farm where she enjoyed singing hymns with her family and spending time outdoors. After graduating from high school in Pratt, she attended Bethany College in Lindsborg. It was at Bethany that she met Robert O’Rourke, and they married in 1953. They lived initially in Russell before moving to Iuka, Marion, Partridge, Galva, and eventually, Smith Center. In 1963 they added their son Michael to the family, followed soon thereafter by their son Kerry in 1965. Keo earned her teaching certificate from Sterling College and began a career as an elementary school teacher, teaching several different grade levels during her career. After teaching in Canton, she spent most of her career in Smith Center. She was a creative and talented teacher who cared about her students and influenced many students over more than three decades of teaching. In a life dedicated to service, Keo provided support for people through church and other organizations. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, becoming a Stephen Minister and visiting fellow parishioners and others in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. After retiring, she would regularly read with elementary school children in Lindsborg, helping them develop their reading ability. For most of her adult life, she supported people of all ages who were struggling with family crises. After retiring from teaching, she expanded these efforts and took on several statewide leadership roles to further support those in need. Family was fundamental for Keo. Along with Bob, she would travel to visit their sons and grandchildren, devoting most of their vacation time to building snowmen, making hamburger pie, and reading storybooks. She was excited about traveling around the United States, first with Bob and her sons and later with her niece and traveling companion, Pamela Bales. One of her last trips took her on a cruise to Alaska, which had long been a dream of hers. Music was also an important part of her life. After retiring from teaching in Smith Center and moving to Lindsborg, she sang alto in the Messiah choir for many years. Keo was a foodie, and cooking and baking were two central ways she communicated love to those around her. She was also essentially curious, always interested in learning about others and trying new things. Her curiosity led her to take courses at Bethany College after her retirement, including courses in philosophy, literature, and history. Those who knew Keo admired her for her selflessness and concern for others. She was also known for her wry sense of humor, clever wit, and insight – she would on occasion talk trash during card games with her grandchildren, and she always gave as good as she got. Another trait that defined Keo was her fierce independence. It was this that helped her survive and recover from a head-on collision at highway speed in 2002. This car accident almost killed her, but she bounced back from it and continued to help others and make the world a better place. Keo lived the last four years of her life at Riverview Estates in Marquette. She died in her sleep on Sunday, September 11, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert O’Rourke. She is survived by her sons, Michael O’Rourke (Liela Rotschy) and Kerry O’Rourke, her grandchildren Sarah O’Rourke (Kerry) and Joshua, Lukas, and Natalie O’Rourke (Michael O’Rourke and Rebecca O’Rourke), and her great grandchildren, Lukas Jr. (Lukas O’Rourke and Yvette Carrillo) and Elijah (Joshua O’Rourke and Molly Schumer). Her life will be celebrated in a service to be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 10:30 am, followed by interment with Robert at Elmwood Cemetery.
