Fans of bakery owner and television personality Duff Goldman likely follow his main Instagram account, where he shares all kinds of personal moments, from snaps of his adorable daughter Josephine to pictures behind-the-scenes of his television projects to, of course, plenty of delicious and seriously impressive cakes and baked goods. However, did you know that Goldman seeks to inspire others with his healthy living journey and created a second Instagram account earlier this year devoted to sharing it?
While Goldman’s primary account has a whopping 741,000 followers, his newer health and fitness has just shy of 4,000 as of this writing. The account name pays tribute to the culinary world, and though he added his first name to the bio, fans scrolling will simply see him posting as @beefcakecookie. On this account, Goldman shares photos and videos taken during his workouts, as well as some of the healthy meals he eats and other inspirational updates. As People reports, he’s shared his nutrition and fitness progress in the past as well.
Though it may be easy to stick to his routine while at home at his scenic California home, working out in the fresh air and creating nutritious meals in his kitchen, it’s always a challenge to keep up healthy habits on the road when faced with temptations and a busy schedule. Goldman addressed his secret for healthy eating on the road in a recent post and it’s simpler than you might think.
Goldman’s secret for staying healthy on the road
Duff Goldman shared an Instagram post that showcased a baking sheet with a row of grilled chicken breast and zucchini, as well as a mason jar that contained some type of salad. In the caption, he discussed the challenge of sticking to healthy eating while traveling, something that he has to do “very often” because of his various projects and work commitments.
While willpower is definitely needed to walk past the incredible aromas coming out of various restaurants, the secret to the celebrity baker’s success is simply meal prep. As he explained, he swears by Israeli salad because of how the lemon juice preserves the vegetables, as well as some grilled lean protein and vegetables. Goldman even shared his recipe for Israeli salad in case any fans following his health journey wanted to try it out themselves.
The meal prep solution is likely for shorter trips — the Charm City Cakes owner mentioned that the food keeps about 48 hours on the road. However, he seems to have thought through all the potential issues, even confirming that his meal-prepped items stay quite cool in his checked bag because of where it’s stored on the plane.
The comments section of the post was filled with encouragement, with many fans writing messages like, “you can do it Duff!” and reminding him of his motivation: One person commented, “You’re not eating healthy just for you; you’re doing it for your beautiful family!”
Travis Kelce Shares When He Knew Patrick Mahomes Was Special Current State Of The Chiefs And More CBS Sports
Travis Kelce Shares When He Knew Patrick Mahomes Was Special, Current State Of The Chiefs And More – CBS Sports https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/travis-kelce-shares-when-he-knew-patrick-mahomes-was-special-current-state-of-the-chiefs-and-more-cbs-sports/
There aren’t many current NFL players who are considered locks for future enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Travis Kelce, the Chiefs‘ seven-time Pro Bowl tight end, is one of those players. A former quarterback in high school, the Westlake, Ohio, native has become one of the most prolific tight ends in NFL history. His play has helped the Chiefs reach a dynastic level of success over the past decade.
The owner of several NFL records, Kelce recently passed fellow Hall of Fame All-2010s Team member Rob Gronkowski for fifth all time in receiving yards by a tight end. Kelce passed Gronkowski while helping the Chiefs defeat the Buccaneers last Sunday night in a rematch of Super Bowl LV. The win helped the Chiefs improve to 3-1 entering Monday night’s game against the Raiders.
Kelce recently spent some of his 33rd birthday speaking with CBS Sports on a variety of topics. Among those discussed included his chances at one day breaking Tony Gonzalez’s tight end receiving career record, when he knew that Patrick Mahomes was a different breed of quarterback, and the current state of the Chiefs offense.
Many sports fans have superstitions. I understand that you’ve teamed with Tide to help tackle one specific superstition?
TK: We all know that everybody has that lucky jersey, that lucky clothing item that they just don’t want to wash because they don’t want to wash the luck off of it. We’re here to tell you that you don’t have to worry about that anymore. With Tide Hygienic Clean, you can still wash your jersey and keep the luck on it.
Tide’s doing a giveaway where fans can win prizes based off what they would do to wash their jersey, including tickets to a future NFL game. Have you gotten any funny responses?
TK: There’s been a few date night requests from a lot of the Chiefs Kingdom. A lot of dinner requests. Maybe some Top Golf requests. A bunch of stuff that I’m sure would be absolutely hilarious and fun. But for the most part, everybody is just asking for tickets for Chiefs games.
Speaking of jerseys, I’m sure you remember those old school ’90s jerseys that had a tendency to wear due to to too many trips to the laundry.
TK: You know I grew up on all of those. I actually still collect a lot of those old school Starter, Champion and Nike jerseys from the ’90s era. You dry those things a little too much, the numbers, names and logos start to peel off of those things. I grew up loving Brett Favre. It was probably the one jersey that I wore more than others. It wasn’t necessarily a lucky jersey for me, it was just the one that I loved to wear the most.
Growing up close to Cleveland, were you a Browns fan growing up?
TK: I’ve always kind of been a Browns fan for the most part. Cheering for Cleveland sports all around. When they got shipped to Baltimore, I just started to become a fan of certain players on certain teams. Brett Favre probably being the biggest one. Jerome Bettis, we got all the Steelers games from that point on. I loved watching him. Those two were probably the biggest influences on me in terms of the NFL when I was a kid.
How did you get away with wearing a Bettis jersey that close to Cleveland?
TK: I didn’t say I was wearing it (laughs). I just said he was one of my players. I went far enough way from the AFC North and went more to the NFC side to stay away from any conflicts.
What did it mean to you to pass Rob Gronkowski on the all-time receiving yardage list for the tight end position?
TK: It was an honor before I passed Gronk, to be on a list with those guys. It really makes me appreciate the journey that I’ve been on to this point. How fortunate I am to be able to find the love and the passion to play the tight end position, knowing that I was a quarterback in college. I really found a love for the tight end position because of the guys that did it the best: Tony Gonzalez, Gronk, Shannon Sharpe, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates. I really found love for the game and had a lot of pride doing it the right way.
You mentioned being a Cleveland sports fan. LeBron, a longtime Cav, is close to passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA career scoring record. Any thoughts on one day possibly breaking Gonzalez’s career record for receiving yards by a tight end?
TK: LeBron is way closer to Kareem than I am (laughs). I still feel like I’m still an entire careers worth of stats away from catching any of Tony’s career records. It’s taking it day by day. That’s how I got to this point. Hopefully, these legs don’t stop turning any time soon so that I can keep playing this game that I love.
It seems like your team is really having fun during the early weeks of the season. How fun is it to be a Chiefs player right now?
TK: It’s a blast. It’s not just on game days. … It’s every single day you walk in the building. It’s the culture the Chiefs created. …The front office has done an unbelievable job of bringing in great character people. It just makes coming into work that much more fun knowing that you’re getting guys that really care about the outcome of those whole thing, and they just want to be there for the person next to them.
There were some people doubting whether the offense will continue to be prolific after the offseason personnel changes. Does part of you and your teammates want to say ‘I told you so’ to your doubters or is it too early for that?
TK: You just have to keep approaching it as I need to get better every single day. Don’t get caught up in trying to be that replacement filler or that guy that has to be the Tyreek (Hill) of this offense. Everybody is going to have a role through coach Reid’s game plan. As long as we’re attacking it like that and making sure that we’re just doing our jobs … everything is going to play itself out.
You’ve been able to spend the past five years playing alongside another player who will likely end up in the Hall of Fame in Patrick Mahomes. When did you realize that he was going to be special?
TK: It was probably during the practice week his rookie year. During that season, he was absolutely tearing the defense in terms of the scout team. He was doing it in a way that almost looked like he was toying with them. At that point, you could tell that he had a natural feel for the game that was unlike a lot of other players. And sure enough, with the leadership of not only coach Reid and the offensive staff we had, but also Alex Smith, a guy that’s very professional. With all of that at his disposal, it just looked like it was going to be an awesome transition into Pat being a Hall of Fame type player, even though it’s so early. If he keeps this up, which I think he will (laughs), he’ll be in a gold jacket for sure.

Analysts Are Blown Away By This Coin, Projecting A 7,000% Climb Next Quarter – Cryptonews https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/analysts-are-blown-away-by-this-coin-projecting-a-7000-climb-next-quarter-cryptonews/

While the crypto bear market continues, fresh applications of blockchain technology are emerging all the time. The projects that will thrive in the downturn are those that embrace the latest trends, while also generating consistent revenues, with bear-resilient products and services.
One such project is ArbiSmart, an interest-bearing wallet and financial services hub, powered by the RBIS token. EU authorized and registered, ArbiSmart’s rapidly expanding ecosystem generates steady passive profits, whichever direction the market is moving, leading analysts to project a 7,000% rise in the value of the native token by the end of 2022.
How ArbiSmart Is Generating Profits Right Now
ArbiSmart offers an interest-generating wallet with built in arbitrage trading, which continues to generate the same returns in a bull or bear market.
The wallet provides sky-high interest of up to 147% a year on 25 supported crypto and FIAT currencies. Users can choose to keep their funds stored securely, interest-free, but withdrawable at any time. Alternatively, they can lock them in a savings plan for a short period like 1 or 3 months, or a long period like 2, 3, or 5 years and the longer the time frame for the lock, the higher the interest rate will be. The wallet holder can also decide to automatically transfer the interest being earned on their capital, which is paid out daily, to a separate balance, where it is always accessible, or have it transferred into the locked savings balance for a higher rate.
In addition, wallet holders can choose to take advantage of the automated crypto arbitrage system, which generates passive profits of up to 45% a year. This is a low-exposure trading strategy that generates revenue from temporary price inefficiencies. These are brief periods in which a coin is available across exchanges at different prices simultaneously.
Occurring frequently, in all types of market conditions, price inefficiencies have various causes such as disparities in trading volume and liquidity between larger exchanges and smaller ones. ArbiSmart’s automated system, connected to 35 exchanges, scans hundreds of coins at once, 24 hours a day for price disparities, automatically buying at the lowest available price and selling at the highest for a profit.
How RBIS Demand Is Being Increased
Wallet holders can earn more profits by purchasing RBIS, increasing demand for the token.
The amount of interest that you can earn depends on your account level, which is determined by how much RBIS you own. So, owning more RBIS translates to a higher rate on your BTC or EUR savings balance.
Wallet holders are also incentivized to open savings balances in RBIS, as these earn three times higher interest rate than balances in any other supported currency. Those who don’t wish to convert their funds into ArbiSmart’s native token but still want to boost their profits can choose to keep their balance in Bitcoin or Euro and just receive the daily interest in RBIS.
The ArbiSmart wallet was only introduced at the beginning of this quarter, though it is already gaining traction and the number of users is rapidly increasing. This growing momentum means that more people are locking RBIS in savings balances, taking it out of general circulation. As token demand rises, the supply, which is finite and permanently capped at 450M, is dropping, pushing up the RBIS price.
The Expansion and How It will Impact RBIS’ Value
Token demand is expected to rise even higher through the second half of 2022, with the introduction of multiple new RBIS utilities, all of which require use of the native token. This will further diminish the supply and drive demand, increasing the token price and generating substantial capital gains from the rising token value.
Later this quarter ArbiSmart will be launching a mobile application for buying, selling, exchanging and storing crypto. Immediately after, the development team will be introducing a decentralized yield farming program, with one-of-a-kind gamification features, offering up to 190,000% a year as well as 0.3% of the fees from every trade.
This will be closely followed by the release of a collection of thousands of original digital artworks, as well as an NFT marketplace for purchasing and selling non-fungible tokens. In Q4, ArbiSmart also plans to launch a play-to-earn gaming metaverse as well as a professional cryptocurrency exchange.
All the services in the ArbiSmart ecosystem are interconnected, enabling RBIS holders to benefit from preferential terms when using additional utilities. For example, purchasing an ArbiSmart-purchased NFT can boost a yield farmer’s APY.
ArbiSmart already offers lucrative, bear-proof utilities, with more revenue streams expected to become available by the end of the year, from gaming and liquidity mining to NFT investment. Each new service will generate its own rewards, while simultaneously decreasing the RBIS supply, and driving demand, pushing up the price.

How Do U.S. Marijuana Policies Compare Globally After Bidens Pardon? The Washington Post
How Do U.S. Marijuana Policies Compare Globally After Biden’s Pardon? – The Washington Post https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/how-do-u-s-marijuana-policies-compare-globally-after-bidens-pardon-the-washington-post/
President Biden offered pardons Thursday to thousands of people convicted of simple marijuana possession under federal law, as U.S. states and other governments around the world reconsider their approach toward the drug, with some moving to decriminalize or legalize it.
“No one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana,” Biden said. He called on senior administration officials to review how the drug is regulated under federal law and whether it should continue to be treated as a Schedule I substance along with drugs such as heroin, LSD and ecstasy.
On Oct. 6, President Biden pardoned thousands of people convicted of a federal crime for simply possessing marijuana and urged governors to do the same. (Video: Julie Yoon/The Washington Post)
Here’s what you need to know about how U.S. marijuana policies and laws compare to those of other countries.
What does Biden’s offer of mass pardons for people convicted of simple marijuana possession mean?
More than 600,000 people were arrested for marijuana possession in the United States in 2018, according to the latest available data from the American Civil Liberties Union. (Not all arrests lead to charges and convictions.) But Biden’s announcement applies only to federal prosecutions, a fraction of people affected by possession laws. His pardon power does not extend to those convicted under state law.
“Many if not most people serving time are in state systems,” said Griffen Thorne, an attorney at Harris Bricken, a law firm that works with cannabis companies. (Biden also called on state governors Thursday to offer similar pardons.)
No one is serving time in a federal prison solely for the crime of marijuana possession, White House officials said Thursday, though more than 6,500 people may have such convictions on their records.
How do the United States’ policies stack up against the rest of the world?
Possessing or consuming marijuana for any reason is illegal under federal law, but as of February, 37 states and the District of Columbia had authorized it for medical use, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. In addition, at least 19 states and D.C. had legalized recreational marijuana for adults as of May.
Technically, “every state-level marijuana program is a complete violation of federal law,” Thorne said, but the federal government has “looked the other way.”
A handful of countries have legalized recreational use of marijuana, though there are many gray areas and caveats. Places where it is legal to recreationally use cannabis include Uruguay, Canada and Malta. In some cases, there are restrictions on age, quantities and transport of the drug.
South Africa decriminalized adult use of cannabis in private, although purchasing or selling it remains illegal. Thailand this year legalized growing and trading marijuana. However, government officials have warned that “nonproductive” use of the drug — such as smoking it outside — could lead to penalties such as short prison terms.
Germany’s coalition government pledged before taking office last year to legalize the recreational use of cannabis. Australia allows medical marijuana, but recreational use at home is only legal in the Australian Capital Territory, encompassing Canberra and surrounding townships. Personal use of limited quantities of cannabis is tolerated in the Netherlands, though it’s technically illegal.
“Certainly, there are other countries that have liberal policies and are more consistent about it,” said Robert Mikos, a professor at Vanderbilt University who specializes in drug law. “But because we have so many states that have legalized adult recreational or medical use, I would count the U.S. as one of the more progressive countries.”
Is the world moving toward legalizing marijuana for personal use?
Momentum toward legalizing marijuana is ramping up in Latin America and Africa, Thorne said.
A 2018 Constitutional Court decision paved the way for South Africa to decriminalize personal use, and President Cyril Ramaphosa said this year that his government would work on bolstering its domestic cannabis sector, Reuters reported. Peru legalized medical use in 2017, and Zimbabwe did so in 2018.
Marijuana is one of the world’s most widely consumed drugs, with roughly 147 million people — about 2 percent of the global population — using it annually, according to the World Health Organization. U.S. adults between the ages of 19 and 30 also used marijuana at record levels last year, the National Institutes of Health reported.
But there are pockets of opposition in parts of the world, particularly Asia. In a 2020 referendum, New Zealand voters narrowly rejected legalizing cannabis for nonmedicinal use. It is available there with a prescription. Singapore — whose tough drug laws extend to cannabis — also recently signaled that it would not move to permit medicinal marijuana in the near future.
Does the mass pardon for marijuana possession have global significance?
Maybe. U.S. drug policy has long influenced how the world treats marijuana. Since the 1960s, the United States has championed international conventions and treaties that required participating countries to ban recreational cannabis, said Mikos, the law professor.
But now that dozens of U.S. states have legalized cannabis for recreational or medicinal use, several countries “have taken that as a green light to go ahead and start experimenting,” he said.
Data Technology Help Make Construction Industry More Environmentally Friendly Arab News
Data, Technology Help Make Construction Industry More Environmentally Friendly – Arab News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/data-technology-help-make-construction-industry-more-environmentally-friendly-arab-news/
The building and construction industry is one of the largest in the world’s economy with approximately $10 trillion spent on construction-related goods and services every year.
But it is also disproportionately destructive as one of the world’s most energy-intensive polluting industries on the planet.
According to figures published on the website USCAD.com in July this year, the world’s construction industry is still responsible for 38 percent of CO2 emissions, 23 percent of air pollution, 40 percent of water pollution, 50 percent of landfill waste, 21 percent of the depletion of natural resources and 40 percent of energy usage.
These are not new figures. It’s not as if the construction industry has suddenly tumbled down a path of self-destruction.
In Las Vegas in 2019, a conference held by the software company Autodesk was told that the construction and manufacturing industries were hugely wasteful and among the world’s biggest polluters.
And in 2021, the general picture for the world’s future was dealt another blow when delegates at COP 26 admitted they were nowhere near to reaching the targets set previously to slow global warming.
“Our theory for how we transform the AEC industry (Architectural Engineering and Construction) is unchanged. We very much want to bring (new) industrial methods and processes to it,” said Andrew Anagnost, CEO of Autodesk on the sidelines of the 2022 Autodesk University conference in New Orleans.
Anagnost said the data and technology was available to help make the industry more environmentally efficient and less wasteful.
There are companies already in existence that provide digital information that can predict potential flaws in plans before they become a reality, and even how much material is needed – and yet Anagnost said there were still companies that were not using the information.
“The biggest waste that you see in the AEC ecosystem, is people making it up along the way.”
In contrast, he said the manufacturing industry generally stuck to its plans so that the end product was what was intended from the outset.
“That kind of precision needs to evolve into the AEC industry. And that’s why you see us building these things that are coming together from both sides. And when that when that work is done, we believe we will have made an impact on how these industries work. Until then, they still redo and undo at a pace that’s, you know, unparalleled in other industries,” he added.
But it’s not all bad news, there are efforts to reduce the amount of waste using cloud-based technology, and it is the Middle East that seems to be embracing this technology.
TURNING BUILDINGS INTO DATA FARMS
The good news is that the Middle East has largely cleaned up its act, according to Naji Atallah, head of construction and manufacturing at Autodesk Middle East.
Speaking to Arab News, he said the reason for the improvement was a factor that had always been present.
He said construction in the region was usually based on undeveloped land, thus removing the need to take into consideration existing structures, that might introduce additional costs.
“There’s no major legacy of buildings and bridges and roads that need to be maintained,” he explained, adding that the construction industry in the region was effectively working on a “blank canvas,” which enabled developers to place sustainability at the forefront of their projects.
“If I look at probably all of the mega projects in the region, sustainability has been one of the big goals that they see.”
“We have seen a shift (in the Gulf region) from we want everything delivered tomorrow, to we want things delivered in a better way.”
Pointing to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea project and Dubai’s Museum of the future, he said there was now greater effort to ensure a sustainable approach to these projects.
And by using software technology developers have been able to create structures that use less energy and materials in their construction by using information gathered from predictive modeling that shows designers how a structure will behave before it is even built.
The digitization of the building industry – if embraced – could potentially revolutionize the way it works – from lowering waste, reducing pollution and to cutting costs.
“Sensors are so cheap now,” Atallah said, “that they could be placed into every new structure – we don’t even need to know what – or if they-re going to be used – and collect all sorts of information.”
That data, he said, could then be used to predict any structural issues, how to improve fuel economies – to name two – but not just for that structure, but also for future projects.
This data, he said could become a commodity that could be sold to help improve future projects.
BRIDGING THE GAP
Imagine a building – in fact any structure – that from the moment it is complete, starts to collect data that can be used to address problems before they are noticed by the human eye and aid in future new builds.
Sounds futuristic – but the truth is the technology is already here – it’s just a question of people in the industry using it.
The Dubai-headquartered company Dar Al-Handasah, which heralds from Lebanon, and is the 10th leading design firm in the world – third in the Middle East has created a cantilever bridge that was built using recycled plastic – mixed with fiberglass to create a poxy – and a 3D printer.
Using algorithms, the designers were able to come up with a design that created a bridge using minimal materials that, when fixed with the sensors, was able to teach them how to better improve the product in later designs.
The bridge is made up in a modular system from 70 percent recycled materials.
It is a step away from traditional construction methods, with the bridge being built as one piece in a factory environment before being transported to its place of use once complete.
Cloud-based technology provided by Autodesk was used to create virtual modules of the bridge to calculate the best design in terms of material use, look and its structural durability.
Ghassan Zein, the Lebanese digital practice manager at Dar Al-Handasah said the bridge was a first of its kind, he said as such they needed to see how it behaved when put into use was essential for future developments, so it was fitted with sensors.
“We have the monitoring of the intelligence of the bridge that would monitor how it’s doing because it’s new,” Zein told Arab News on the sidelines of the Autodesk University 2022 conference in New Orleans.
The bridge is a new shape, a new design, Zein explained, “So we have to know if it’s doing well.”
The company has a team whose role is to monitor the data gathered from the bridge.
“They analyze the data and keep changing the design of future projects,” he said.
Zein said the structural engineers addressed the design, what was safe, what was not, what performed well, what did not, using live data gathered from sensors in the structure of the bridge.
FROM PREFAB TO MODULAR
The modular approach to building the bridge is not a new concept. In Britain in the 1950s low-cost social housing was created.
These usually low-leveled, single-storied buildings were made up of walls and roofs that were created off-site and then put together once ready.
But they were usually of a low standard with materials that were not long lasting, leaving properties structurally unsound and some of the materials even being harmful to people’s health – including asbestos cladding.
Move forward 70 – 80 years and the concept of building parts, or entire structures such as the 3D printed bridge off-site and then moving them to their final location is now proving to be a leading method of construction – both economically and also environmentally.
Beach villas on the Red Sea project off the coast of Saudi Arabia and Dubai’s Museum of the Future were all built in a factory environment, before they were shipped to their final destination.
The methods being offered at functions such as Autodesk University are an eye opener for the industry.
Invest in the technology and the construction industry could change from being one of the environment’s biggest enemies, to a major green player.
It just needs those in the industry to embrace the future.
The key take away being, collect the data, learn what the potholes are before the building work starts and then embark on the real deal – ultimately the outcome is more efficient.

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos — Water slides, glass-bottom boats and swim-up pool bars are good fun. But all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean are increasingly serving up another amenity to lure travelers — pickleball.
At the Beaches resort on the island of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos, about 600 miles southeast of Miami, the resort added eight permanent pickleball courts last year with the flexibility to convert an additional eight courts being used for tennis to accommodate large groups.
All three Beaches resorts in the Caribbean — the other two being in Jamaica — now offer pickleball. And Sandals, Beaches’ sister resorts with 17 properties throughout the Caribbean, also has expanded its pickleball footprint.

Pickleball in Turks and Caicos: ‘It’s become a phenomenon’
When it comes to pickleball, resorts are finding that if you build it, they will come.
“It’s become a phenomenon,” said Jamie McAnally, who has been general manager of Beaches Turks and Caicos for 10 years.
“I’ve not seen a sport take off like this in the last decade or even longer. We need to make sure people have the amenities they want to enjoy themselves. And pickleball is certainly one of them.”
Pickleball is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis, table tennis and badminton. Paddles are made of wood or composite materials; the plastic ball resembles a wiffle ball. While the sport can be played with two or four players, doubles is far more common. That means Beaches Turks and Caicos can accommodate up to 64 players at once.
According to a report released in 2022 by the Sports & Fitness Industry Association, pickleball has 4.8 million participants in the United States — a number that’s increased by nearly 40% over the last two years, making it the fastest-growing sport in America.
Expedition cruising in Alaska: How to see the wilder, less visited side of the state
Why so many people are taking pickleball vacations
Chuck Menke, the chief marketing officer for USA Pickleball, the sport’s governing body that is headquartered in Surprise, said a pickleball vacation “delivers a uniquely interactive, social angle that happens to be a key driver behind the sport’s growth.”
While Menke said there is no hard data about the growth of pickleball-related travel or the number of resorts adding facilities, it’s clear that pickleball players taking warm-weather vacations don’t have to look hard to find a game.
“Pickleball travel vacations have become extremely popular in the past five years, with many of them led by well-known professional players, highlighting another aspect of the sport’s accessibility,” he said. “Well-known resorts in U.S. vacation spots, Mexico, the Caribbean and — most recently — Europe, frequently host pickleball clinics and competitive tournaments.”

What to expect on a Turks and Caicos pickleball vacation
At Beaches Turks and Caicos last winter, the resort hosted two groups from the U.S. of about 40 pickleball players each, who not only enjoyed getting out on the courts each morning for round-robin and tournament play but also taking part in group activities like cocktail parties and award dinners.
Beaches’ pickleball courts are a five-minute walk from the acclaimed white-sand Grace Bay Beach, ranked by Tripadvisor in 2022 as the top beach in the world. (Varadero Beach in Cuba ranked second, followed by Turquoise Bay in Australia).
Turks and Caicos Islands is a British Overseas Territory in the Atlantic Ocean consisting of 40 islands and cays, only eight of which are inhabited. Providenciales (known as Provo by the locals), is the most populous and developed island with about 23,000 residents. It’s home to Beaches, several other resorts and Turks and Caicos’ only international airport.
Alexander Milan, Beaches’ tennis and pickleball instructor, had never even heard of pickleball when he started working at the resort nine years ago. Now, he said, he enjoys playing and teaching it as much as tennis, the sport he grew up playing in the Philippines.
“It’s easier to learn,” he said. “Even if you’re not so good at tennis or Ping-Pong, you can still play pickleball. It’s easier to adopt and exciting at the same time.”
Milan and I enjoyed some spirited singles and doubles matches with other resort guests, after which I would walk to Grace Bay, plop down on a beach chair and marvel at the calming turquoise water while enjoying a cold I-Ain-Ga-Lie Lager, the local beer.

More places for pickleball vacations
Laura Gainor, a Florida-based founder of Pickleball in the Sun, a website that promotes pickleball-related travel, said that due to the explosive growth of the sport, “the tourism industry is taking note as pickleball enthusiasts take flight to seek warmer destinations that include pickleball to play with their family, friends and work colleagues on business trips.”
Gainor said that in addition to the Caribbean region, other warm-weather destinations with resorts adding pickleball facilities in recent years include Arizona (her website has labeled the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa a “pickleball player’s dream desert destination”), Florida, California, Hawaii and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
“With the popularity of pickleball growing daily, pickleball as an amenity listed on a resort’s website increases a resort’s chances for travelers to choose the space for their next destination vacation,” she said.
Added McAnally of the Beaches Turks and Caicos: “We’re in paradise. We have great weather year-round. It’s not like we’re going to get a snowstorm that’s going to close down the courts.”

Climbing Pedestrian Bridge Promotes Healthy Heart – Firm – Punch Newspapers https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/climbing-pedestrian-bridge-promotes-healthy-heart-firm-punch-newspapers/
A food brand, Power Oil, has said that climbing pedestrian bridges promotes a healthy heart.
The company disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, in commemoration of the 2022 World Heart Day, observed annually on September 30.
According to the statement, the company engages over 15,000 people directly across three locations within Lagos State, discouraging passers-by against the option of crossing the express road and enlightening them to use the overhead bridge as a safer and healthier alternative.
The Brand Manager, Valerie Amakulor, said the rationale behind the campaign was to educate Nigerians on the importance of a healthy lifestyle through routines in daily lives.
She said, “The need to create awareness about maintaining a healthy heart can never be over-emphasised as cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death globally.
“An estimated number of over 17 million people die from the CVD every year, coronary heart disease or strokes were the major causes of these deaths.
“While reviewing this estimation, it was realised that awareness effort needed to go further in Nigeria, especially at different touch points unimaginable, which gave rise to this concept of pedestrian-bridge engagement exercise.”
It added that an estimation of 20 people die in Lagos State from crossing the road monthly in Nigeria, noting that even when the bridges were available for use, they still opted for the risky option.
The statement explained that to further drive healthy choices, pedestrians were asked to partake in minor workouts to get more rewards.
“Power Oil rose to the occasion by not only cheering pedestrians to use the bridge for safety purpose, but to also educate them about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle, at this point, a sample the brand is offered.
“It was delightful to see the number of people being engaged at all three locations, this further demonstrates that a little push might only be required to achieve the right amount of behavioral adjustments towards a healthy lifestyle,” it read.
Emergency Sports Betting Meeting Set For Friday NBC10 Boston
Emergency Sports Betting Meeting Set For Friday – NBC10 Boston https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/emergency-sports-betting-meeting-set-for-friday-nbc10-boston/
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is set to hold an emergency meeting Friday, after the group failed to come up with an agreement during a meeting Thursday that went on for more than eight hours.
As of now, the start of sports betting in the Bay State is still very much in the air. The commission couldn’t come up with a timetable as to when sports betting would be rolled out during Thursday’s conversations.
The Bay State’s gaming commission is meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday with a lengthy agenda.
One of the ideas tossed around was having in-person betting launch before the Super Bowl, and mobile betting by the March Madness tournament. But nothing has been agreed or voted on yet.
“This should be done in a responsible way, that gets us to the patrons but also maximizes the benefit but minimizes the harm,” Eileen O’Brien with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission said. “I’m concerned about and I will say aggressive because I think this is an aggressive timeline.”
The commission is under pressure to get legal sports betting up and running after the Legislature slow-walked the issue for years, but regulators have run into hurdles that have complicated their efforts in the nearly two months since Gov. Charlie Baker signed the betting law. Eager bettors are clamoring for action, and the commissioners have said they want to implement legal sports betting here without unnecessary delay but also without sacrificing their commitment to consumer protection and gaming integrity.
Gov. Charlie Baker signed a bill to legalize sports betting in Massachusetts.

Commissioner Nakisha Skinner asked repeatedly why the commission was pursuing an “aggressive” timeline and indicated that she was not comfortable with compressing the process in the interest of time. “If this compressed timeline makes sense and it’s responsible, I’m all for it,” Skinner said. “I just need to understand the rationale for why there is being this compressed timeline advanced as opposed to a reasonable timeline by which the team can get this done.”
Friday’s meeting is scheduled for noontime.

Whats Deepfake Bruce Willis Doing In My Metaverse? WIRED
What’s Deepfake Bruce Willis Doing In My Metaverse? – WIRED https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/whats-deepfake-bruce-willis-doing-in-my-metaverse-wired/
Hi, everyone. So now Elon wants to buy Twitter, allegedly to help him build X, “the everything” app. Sweet of him to name it after his kid.
The Plain View
For a couple days in late September, no one seemed clear on who owned Bruce Willis. The British newspaper The Telegraph claimed that the actor, who has retired because he suffers from aphasia, had digitally reincarnated his career by selling performance rights to a company called Deepcake, which used artificial intelligence technology to map Willis’ face onto another actor. Not long after, representatives of Willis said that the star of Die Hard had done no such thing and had no relationship with Deepcake, even though the company’s website had a complimentary quote from the star.
The episode raises a lot of questions, not least the meaning of identity at a time when one’s image can be so easily faked. So I went to the source and spoke to Deepcake’s founders. The two-year-old startup from the former Soviet state of Georgia is the project of Ukrainian-born CEO Maria Chmir, a marketing executive, and head of machine learning Alex Notchenko, who has a doctorate in AI. Chmir told me that the company never claimed to own Willis’ future rights, but had a previous and mutually satisfying arrangement where Deepcake digitized his appearance in a 2021 ad for Megafon, a Russian cell network. The Willis ad is part of Deepcake’s game plan to serve customers who want to digitally clone humans. “We are one of the first on the market to be commercially successful in the field of legal deepfakes,” says Chmir. “But we don’t like this word. These are sort of replicas, or digital twins.” (I wondered why, if she wasn’t fond of the word, she named her company on a variation of it, but whatever.)
How good is that technology? Let’s go to the tape. In the Megafon commercial, a person who is unmistakably Willis, even if you know it really is not, is among two hostages tied to a ship mast, next to a digital clock ticking down seconds before a bomb goes off. While the figure has Willis’ face, it doesn’t quite convey his trademark insouciance. And for some reason, this Willis has a different voice—a gruff bark that speaks Russian. Still, it looks like Willis—digitized and generated, Chmir says, by algorithms trained on 34,000 images from his earlier films.
Chmir says that Willis was deepfaked because he wasn’t available to travel, but the process makes economic sense as well. While leasing an actor’s rights might be about 30 percent less than the usual appearance fee, she says, still bigger savings come from the lower costs of filming a cheap actor-double instead of a superstar, who requires first-class travel, a big trailer, and ridiculous demands in contract riders.
But Deepcake isn’t just faking superstars. They recently did a job for an agricultural firm that wanted to make educational videos starring its in-house expert, a busy person not comfortable in front of a camera. With the subject’s permission, Deepcake converted video of an understudy in an exact duplicate. “We also cloned the voice for full similarity, of course,” Chmir says.
40 Best Gifts For 13 Year Old Boys – National Today https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/40-best-gifts-for-13-year-old-boys-national-today/
If you ask the average 13-year-old how good their parents are with gift giving, there probably aren’t many that would tell you they’ve had the best results. A pair of socks, a wooly sweater, a pair of reversible slacks. No thank you. It can be hard for adults to shop for kids, mostly because of the age gaps. We suggest trying to base your selections on how you’d react to prices on a game show. For example, a sports car sounds incredible when you’re a kid, but a luxury suit for special occasions would be boring. You wouldn’t rush to get a 13-year-old a sports car, but you get the idea. Try to put yourself in their shoes and you’ll manage. To get you jump-started with some ideas, here are some great suggestions.

Bitcoin (BTC) dipped below the $20,000 mark Friday, down almost 1% on the day, as traders in both crypto and stock markets awaited September’s jobs report in the U.S.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency by market value has spent the last four months hovering around the $20,000 mark with little movement either side.
“This could be really important for bitcoin that it has found a base around $20,000 that traders are seemingly comfortable with in these turbulent times,” wrote Craig Erlam, an analyst at OANDA, in a morning note. “It now looks like a very strong region of support that’s been reinforced with every test below.”
Erlam said there could well be a case for this level forming a bottom for the cryptocurrency, but of course, another risk-off panic could put this theory to test.
Ether (ETH) was also trading down on the day slightly, but has been slowly making its way back up after the post-Merge drop.
A blockchain linked to the big crypto exchange Binance ordered a suspension on Thursday, after an estimated $100 million to $110 million in assets were moved off chain.
BNB Chain, composed of BNB Beacon Chain and BNB Smart Chain, tweeted the suspension on BSC from its official account, later confirming that the activity stemmed from a “potential exploit.”
Some $7 million of the total crypto has already been frozen.
In the news, Citigroup’s director of blockchain and digital assets is leaving the U.S. bank to take a role at Six Digital Exchange, according to his LinkedIn page.
A report from Morgan Stanley said the market for cryptocurrency exchange products continues to grow, a sign that institutional interest in the digital assets sector remains strong despite concerns of a crypto winter.
Crypto lender Celsius’ top executives withdrew a little over $17 million in cryptocurrency between May and June 2022, right before the company suspended withdrawals and filed for bankruptcy, new court records show.

A rain jacket may not be the sexiest item of clothing to buy, but it’s actually one of the most practical jackets and belongs in everyone’s wardrobe. Yes, umbrellas can help keep some rain at bay, but they don’t leave you entirely dry, especially when it’s windy. Plus, an umbrella is also awkward and bulky to pack if you’re traveling, and a lot of the time it’s not allowed into sporting and concert venues. Luckily, Amazon shoppers have found a solution in the Avoogue Women’s Hooded Raincoat, which is lightweight, cute, and packs into its own pouch.
Available starting at just $29, this polyester coat is made of the most lightweight, waterproof material. Even better — it’s actually breathable too, so you can be comfortable wearing it without feeling like you’re overheating. But, the best news is that the jacket has an accompanying pouch, which it can be rolled up and fit into. So while you could tie it around your waist in case the forecast calls for rain, you can also easily pack the jacket into its storage pouch and toss it in any suitcase, bag or purse — it’s that small and light.

If you’re taking it on an adventure, you’ll appreciate that the coat has a drawstring in the hood and along the hem, so you can adjust both for a personalized fit. The elastic cuffs on the sleeves keep water from sneaking through at your wrists, too. And while it is a rain jacket, it’s also a perfect layering piece for a cool autumn or spring day or a stylish adventure windbreaker. The coat has pockets on either side too where you can stash small valuables and your phone.
With more than 6,000 five-star ratings, Amazon shoppers and travelers are equally impressed to say the very least. One customer said, “Jacket was perfect for our Alaskan cruise. Packed nicely.” Another shopper preparing for a cruise tested the waterproofness before committing: “I ran the sleeve under water and it ran right off, so I expect it to hold up in the rain.” They also added, “Such a cute jacket! Surprisingly amazing quality, especially for the price, and the fit is roomy.”

A five-star reviewer highlighted just how durable, flattering, and functional it is by saying, “This is a great rain jacket! It’s super lightweight, looks cute, fits well, and most importantly, it actually keeps the rain off you.” They continued, “I was in pouring rain and still was able to stay dry, and it also helped to block wind.”
Other wearers of the jacket rave about the fact that it doesn’t take up a lot of space, so it’s perfect to throw into your suitcase. One buyer, who bought the jacket since they planned to only take a carry-on for a trip to Iceland, shared. “The jacket is adorable, lightweight, and actually waterproof. It’s very much a bargain for the quality — and it folds up into a little pouch that packs easily, even in a larger purse.”

The waterproof layer is available right now at Amazon starting at $29. Sizes range from small to 3XL, and the packable jacket comes in 25 different colors including army green, black, gray, yellow, wine red, royal blue, beige, and many more (including some two-toned options as well). Order one now to replace your old raincoat or to take as a packable option for your next trip — whether it’s for a hiking excursion, international vacation, or weekend getaway.

Prevent Tuberculosis Through Clean And Healthy Lifestyle: Ministry ANTARA English
Prevent Tuberculosis Through Clean And Healthy Lifestyle: Ministry – ANTARA English https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/prevent-tuberculosis-through-clean-and-healthy-lifestyle-ministry-antara-english/
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture called on the public to prevent tuberculosis (TB) by practicing clean and healthy living behavior.
“People need to implement clean and healthy living behavior to prevent various diseases, including tuberculosis,” the ministry’s deputy of coordination for health quality improvement and population development, Agus Suprapto, stated in Jakarta on Friday.
Suprapto remarked that at this time, the government continued to intensify the TB control program through the find and treat until cured (TOSS) movement.
“The TOSS TB movement is a form of campaign that aims to work together to find cases of tuberculosis,” he stated.
Through this movement, the government continues to find as many TB cases as possible through active screening in the community to the correctional facility, he remarked.
In addition, passive screening was conducted on those seeking treatment at health care facilities, he stated.

“We hope that in future, the coverage will continue to be expanded through workplace screening and educational facilities,” Suprapto remarked.
He noted that the TOSS movement also focused on handling people having come in close contact with TB sufferers.
“After a TB case is found through screening and diagnosis, the next activity conducted in the TOSS movement is to take treatment until the patient recovers,” he remarked.
Suprapto said the ministry also urges the entire community to play an active role in the success of the TOSS movement to accelerate the TB control program in the country.
“In addition, we will continue to remind the public to always strengthen clean and healthy living behavior to reduce the risk of the TB disease spreading and transmitting. Please always maintain body immunity by eating healthy food and exercising regularly,” he affirmed.

Expresso National and International Sports News Update at 1:30 pm on 7th October, 2022
You are listening to the Expresso Sports Update. Here is the latest news from the world on Indian and International Sports brought to you by The Indian Express.
“We begin today’s bulletin with news on cricket. From the clutches of defeat, Sanju Samson almost scripted a famous heist over South Africa. His 63-ball-86 not out, one of crisp shot-making, dragged India from a crevasse and filled them with hopes of a victory that had seemed beyond them for most of their chase. But just when it was his hour to seize the night, destiny turned cruel on him and he slipped into the night as a tragic hero, in a bizarrely thrilling match that South Africa bagged by nine runs.
As gorgeous as his knock was, Sanju would reflect on this night with a tinge of regret.
“
“Meanwhile, India captain Shikhar Dhawan admitted that his team leaked too many runs in the death overs and fielded poorly, leading to the nine-run defeat to South Africa in the rain-hit first ODI.
Opting to bowl in the rain-curtailed 40-over-a-side game, India had reduced South Africa to 110 for 4 in 22.4 overs but David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen powered the visitors to 249 for 4. While the Indian bowlers conceded 54 runs in the last five overs, the hosts were also guilty of dropping as many as four catches in the outfield. Dhawan said in the post-match presentation, “I thought 250 was too many runs. We leaked a few runs but this was a good learning experience for us” “
“Moving onto some news from football, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is planning to hold the knock-out stages of the Santosh Trophy National Championships in Saudi Arabia early next year.
AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey and Secretary General Shaji Prabhakaran on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with their Saudi Arabian counterparts to “study the possibility to stage the final stages of the Santosh Trophy” in the West Asian country in February 2023″.
The AIFF said in a release, “The idea is to host the knockout phase of Santosh Trophy in select cities of Saudi to encourage State level players to dream big and also to connect the large Indian community in Saudi with Indian football”
“
“In other news, Qatar has ordered most government employees to work from home during next month’s soccer World Cup while schools will have reduced hours two weeks before the tournament before shutting as the country prepares for a big influx of visitors.
Qatar is the first Middle East country to stage the World Cup which kicks off on Nov. 20 with the final set for Dec. 18. It hopes the tournament will attract roughly 1.2 million visitors, or almost half of the conservative country’s population, posing a logistical and policing challenge. For this reason, the government said late on Wednesday that 80% of its workforce would be working from home between Nov. 1 and Dec. 19.
“
“In some significant news, Megan Rapinoe said on Thursday she and her fellow U.S. women’s national team members are angry and exhausted in the wake of a scathing report into allegations of abuse and sexual misconduct in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
The independent investigation revealed player abuse within women’s professional soccer in the United States was systemic and that the NWSL and governing U.S. Soccer body failed to adequately protect players. Rapinoe said at Wembley Stadium, “It’s really sad to say, but in a way, I think we are used to having to deal with one thing or another,”
The twice World Cup winner also singled out Portland Thorns owner Merritt Paulson and Chicago Red Stars owner Arnim Whisler.”
“Next up, Argentina superstar Lionel Messi said in a conversation with Sebastián Vignolo that the 2022 Qatar World Cup will be his last.
Messi said in the conversation, “This will be my last World Cup — for sure. The decision has been made,”
He added, “I’m counting down the days until the World Cup. “The truth is, there’s a little anxiety, saying: ‘Well, we’re here, what’s going to happen? It’s my last one, how’s it going to go?’. On one hand, I can’t wait for it to arrive but I’m also desperate for it to go well,”
“
“We end this bulletin with news from basketball, LeBron James made his post-retirement goals clear: He wants to own an NBA team, and he wants it in Las Vegas.
James said, “I would love to bring a team here at some point,” addressing the reporters after scoring 23 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Phoenix Suns in a preseason game played Wednesday night in Las Vegas. And he addressed commissioner Adam Silver, who was not in Las Vegas, directly. He added, “He probably sees every single interview and transcript that comes through from NBA players, so I want the team here, Adam. Thank you.””

VR

Meta’s Horizon Worlds platform – its first attempt at a social metaverse – is so bad even its own creators don’t like using it, according to the latest reports.
The Oculus Quest 2 exclusive social media platform hasn’t yet taken the world by storm as Meta likely hoped it would after announcing its broad VR plans at last year’s Facebook Connect. And, according to a leak obtained by The Verge (opens in new tab), the team behind Horizon Worlds is all too aware of why the platform is struggling.
The leaked memo – that was apparently shared by Meta’s VP of Metaverse Vishal Shah with his team on September 15 – says that “the aggregate weight of papercuts, stability issues, and bugs is making it too hard for our community to experience the magic of Horizon.” He then added that “for an experience to become delightful and retentive, it must first be usable and well crafted,” seemingly implying that Horizon Worlds is not yet either of those things.
The memo also reveals that his comments are based on feedback from creators, users, and members of the development team.
Though despite the issues Horizon isn’t likely to be sent to Meta’s well-used chopping block quite yet. Alongside teasers for the hotly anticipated Project Cambria, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also said that Meta Connect 2022 on October 11 will showcase some “major updates (opens in new tab)” that are coming to the platform soon.
Analysis: The Meh-taverse could be saved
Meta employees aren’t the only people who don’t love Horizon Worlds, we aren’t big fans either. Our US Editor-in-Chief Lance Ulanoff and I were left with really similar first impressions: the game is just too boring right now. Especially when it’s compared to the more polished and interesting multiplayer VR experiences on Quest 2 (like Walkabout Mini Golf and Wands Alliances).
User-led platforms can lead to some amazing things, just look at the inventive platforming levels devised by Super Mario Maker 2 players, but if people aren’t making worlds then there’s no reason to stick around. And with its mediocre graphics, clunky controls, and slow load times, Horizon Worlds isn’t making itself look like an appealing option for aspiring game creatives.
With players and creators alike being turned away it’s no surprise to hear that Meta is apparently worried about its platform’s retention rate.
This clunkiness doesn’t have to be the norm though, and Meta already has a team on its staff (opens in new tab) that could come to the rescue in Unit 2 Games, the developer behind game creation tool Crayta.
Back when it was a Google Stadia exclusive – oh how times have changed – I was really impressed with Crayta. The tools were simple enough that mobile players with limited controls could have a crack at making enjoyable games for their friends, while also offering aspiring game developers more in-depth options on PC so they could really bring their ideas to life. On top of this, Crayta launched with several really engaging and inventive pre-made worlds for people to enjoy that could then serve as an inspiration for a player’s own projects.
Unit 2 Games has shown that it knows how to make a solid game creation platform, and some of its ideas could be used to really improve Horizon Worlds from what we have right now – and perhaps help it become one of the best Oculus Quest 2 games. We’ll just have to wait and see what updates are announced at Meta Connect 2022.

But that’s just the news. Below, you’ll find a recap of all the cool new gadgets that were announced this week.

Google
Google held its big Pixel event this week where announced its latest flagship smartphones, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. As you’d expect, they Google’s best-ever smartphones with the most advanced camera capabilities of any Pixel smartphone to date. Both are powered the latest Tensor G2 chip, and they are actually more similar than they are different.
The main differences are that the Pixel 7 Pro has a bigger display, more advanced camera (specifically for zoom) and a longer lasting battery. Both are pretty affordable for flagship smartphones, too.

Google announced a second-generation model of its smart doorbell, the Nest Doorbell — and it’s a modest update. It looks basically identical to its predecessor and has all the same capabilities.
The difference is that it has better local storage capabilities — specifically it can store an hour worth of video footage even if the Wi-Fi goes down temporarily — and it supports HDR, so the video quality it captures should look a little bit better no matter the time of day or the lighting conditions. Available in four finishes: green, gray, beige or white.

The earbuds look fairly similar to the Beats Fits Pro, as they both work with a silicone earhook to help them fit more securely. The kicker is that they come with $100 price tag, which is very competitive.

Morgan Stanley Says Crypto ETPs Continue To Grow Despite Bear Market – CoinDesk https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/morgan-stanley-says-crypto-etps-continue-to-grow-despite-bear-market-coindesk/

The market for cryptocurrency exchange products continues to grow, a sign that institutional interest in the digital assets sector remains strong despite concerns of a crypto winter, according to Wall Street giant Morgan Stanley (MS).
There are more than 180 active crypto exchange-traded-funds (ETFs), exchange-traded-products (ETPs) and trusts. Half of these products have launched since the “bitcoin bear market,” despite total assets dropping 70% to $24 billion from $84 billion, Morgan Stanley said in a research report on Thursday.
“The crypto exchange products market will continue to grow,” the report said, adding that the “bear market hasn’t deterred asset managers and financial companies from launching ways for their clients to get access to digital assets.” Fund launches accelerated in 2022 despite the decline in crypto prices, with eight new ETP launches per month on average in the last year.
Crypto ETPs are traded on exchange, much like equities, and track the performance of an underlying asset. Their popularity has been growing as they allow clients to invest in cryptocurrencies without having to invest in the underlying digital asset themselves.
In the U.S., WisdomTree (WETF) is the only publicly traded “pure-play ETF issuer,” the note said, and while it manages less than 1% of the total crypto ETP universe its market share of flows is 5%, and the “scale of its offering is well ahead of traditional asset manager peers.”
Morgan Stanley expects more crypto exchange-traded products to be launched around the world in the coming quarters, and while the focus will remain on bitcoin (BTC), new products will likely cover a large number of crypto assets and themes, it said.

Dollar Retreats For Now As Investors Await U.S. Jobs Data Reuters
Dollar Retreats For Now, As Investors Await U.S. Jobs Data – Reuters https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/dollar-retreats-for-now-as-investors-await-u-s-jobs-data-reuters/
LONDON, Oct 7 (Reuters) – The dollar retreated on Friday, ahead of a key employment report later that could offer a litmus test of the strength of the U.S. economic recovery, but with the Federal Reserve’s commitment to fighting inflation, strategists believe any weakness won’t last.
The euro and the pound pared overnight losses and rose for the first time in three trading sessions, while the Japanese yen clawed back from another break through the key 145 level against the dollar.
Overnight, a number of Fed officials reinforced the view that the central bank is nowhere near finished with raising rates as it seeks to tame inflation, and rates are expected to go up further. read more

The September non-farm payrolls report comes hot on the heels of a measure of private-sector hiring that beat expectations and an indicator of vacancies that showed an unexpected decline, offering a mixed picture of the jobs market.
Consumer inflation data is due next week and could prove equally influential in setting investors’ expectations for the Fed, according to CIBC head of G10 currency strategy Jeremy Stretch.
“We’re going into a ‘double-header’ next week,” he said.
“Until we see what is effectively almost empirical evidence that either the labour market is materially easing or inflationary pressures are dissipating, dollar dips are going to remain bought into,” he said.
The euro was last up 0.1% on the day at $0.9801, having tried twice unsuccessfully to regain parity this week.
Sterling rose 0.3% to $1.1192, having fallen 1.4% overnight. It rose to as much as $1.1493 earlier this week, after the British government reversed a planned cut to the highest rate of income tax.
The U.S. dollar index eased 0.1% to 112.11, after rising nearly 1% overnight, and was set for a decline of 0.16% this week.
All eyes now turn to the U.S. non-farm payrolls report due at 1230 GMT. Economists expect 250,000 jobs to have been added last month, compared with 315,000 in August.
“With the Fed seeing evidence of success, we should not expect a shift in rhetoric, no matter what the NFP print is today. That in our view means the US dollar will remain under upward pressure,” MUFG head of research Derek Halpenny said in a note.
“Any US dollar weakness on a weak NFP print that fuels easing expectations next year is, in our view, unlikely to last.”
The yen was last up 0.2% against the dollar at 144.91 per dollar, close to a 24-year low of 145.90 hit last month that prompted an intervention by Japanese authorities to shore up the fragile currency.
In another sign that major central banks’ fight against inflation is far from over, accounts from the European Central Bank’s September meeting show policymakers appeared increasingly worried that high inflation could become entrenched, making aggressive policy tightening necessary even at the cost of weaker growth. read more

11 National Parks In Oregon To Explore In 2022 Travel2Next
11 National Parks In Oregon To Explore In 2022 – Travel2Next https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/11-national-parks-in-oregon-to-explore-in-2022-travel2next/
Oregon in the Pacific Northwest has some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the USA. From the iconic Oregon coast to jaw-dropping waterfalls and mossy forests, Oregon is certainly a destination for nature lovers.
Surprisingly, though, Oregon only has one national park: the famous Crater Lake National Park. But there are plenty of national monuments, national historic trails and national historic sites. There’s no shortage of nationally designated spaces, from a massive lake to a Lewis and Clark trail to national volcanic land. Let’s explore the national parks in Oregon.
20 Oregon National Parks
Crater Lake is the only ‘national park’ in Oregon.
1- California National Historic Trail
The misleading name of the California National Historic Trail might make you think that this trail has nothing to do with Oregon. But, it actually spans across 10 states, with Oregon included.
The trail was created in the 1840s, and 1850’s when emigrants travelled west to the supposed land of ‘milk and honey’ to find better opportunities.
Not all travellers ended up in California, though- several travelled up to Oregon, settling in the western part of the state.
The California National Historic Trail is more than 5,000 miles (8,047 km) long, with the section from the Missouri River to California covering over 2,000 miles (3,219 km).
There are several historical sites, churches, trail segments created by wagon ruts and museums along the trail.
You can check out the trail and the Douglas County Museum of History and Natural History in Oregon.
This museum features Oregon’s largest natural history collection of thousands of artefacts.
Douglas County Museum is at 123 Museum Dr, Roseburg, OR 97471.
2- Crater Lake National Park
Panorama view of Crater Lake National Park in Oregon.
Crater Lake National Park, one of the state’s most popular natural attractions, is in the Cascade Mountain Range atop a dormant volcano.
Crater Lake, the jewel of Crater Lake National Park, is one of the most pristine lakes in the world.
The lake is the USA’s deepest and the 10th deepest in the world, measuring 1,949 ft (594 m) deep.
Interestingly, no rivers flow in or out of the lake, preserving its deep blue colour and water clarity.

There are exciting things to do at this Oregon national park, whether you’re visiting during the winter, summer or the seasons in between.
The park is covered with glittering snow from November through May, providing visitors with many wintertime activities.
You can go snowshoeing with a guide or, if you’re feeling adventurous, on your own. And cross-country skiing through the subalpine forest and meadows that line the lake.
There aren’t any designated sledding areas, but you will find several opportunities to go sledding or tubing around the park.
The open meadow south of Crater Lake Lodge is a popular sledding destination.
The snow starts to melt in May and June, but not completely. Be prepared for snow to block access to some parts of the park. But it’s absolutely still worth the visit.
During these months, you can view the lake from Rim Village, snowshoe (until late May), hike or bike on the Rim Drive, watch the 22-minute long park film, and enjoy the winter’s remaining snow.
One of the fun summer activities in Crater Lake National Park is hiking and there are 23 named trails, ranging from 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to 9.8 miles (15.8 km).
The hiking trails offer diverse views, from the sparkling Crater Lake to pumice fields, from vibrant wildflowers to lush pine forests.
Plus, you can tour Wizard Island, a volcanic cinder cone off the shores of the lake. Once on the island, hike to the top to see the lake from a new angle.

Other activities during the summer months include fishing, backcountry camping and wildflower viewing.
The park is home to 250 species of birds (plus other fascinating creatures such as marmots), making it ideal for wildlife viewing and birding.
In the autumn, you can continue to observe the park’s wildlife and witness impressive bird migrations.
View the lake, hike (weather permitting) and discover multiple species of trees at the Ponderosa Picnic Area.
There are two lodging options within Crater Lake National Park: The Cabins at Mazama Village and the Crater Lake Lodge.
Depending on the season and weather, you might like to try the campgrounds in and around the park.
3- Fort Vancouver National Historic Site
Fort Vancouver is an important national parks site in Oregon.
Fort Vancouver is a national historic site on the north bank of the Columbia River covering land in both Washington and Oregon, with units in Vancouver and Oregon City.
The national historic site covers 207 acres (84 ha), including barracks and an air museum.
In the Oregon part of Fort Vancouver, the McLoughlin House site overlooks the Willamette River and holds a rich history.
The site consists of the McLoughlin House and the Barclay House, which were both built in the 1840s.
Today, these buildings function as educational museums where visitors can learn about the history of the period in which it was built.
Several activities are offered, including tours, talks and Victorian handcraft demonstrations.
McLoughlin House is at 713 Center St, Oregon City, OR 97045. The Barclay House is next door at 719 Center St, Oregon City, OR 97045.

4- Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail
Thousands of years ago, near the end of the last Ice Age, an ice dam in northern Idaho burst, releasing excessive flood water across the Pacific Northwest.
The Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail comprises a network of paths connecting educational facilities and natural sites that interpret this significant event.
The trail covers 16,000 square miles (41,440 square metres) that span across Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon.
In Oregon specifically, you can check out sites along the Willamette River and the Wallula Gap.
The specific Oregon sites along the trail consist of Hat Rock State Park, the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum, Multnomah Falls and the Crown Point National Natural Landmark.
There’s also the Tualatin Ice Age Walking Trail, the Tualatin Public Library, the Erratic Rock State Natural Site, and the Willamette Floodplain National Natural Landmark.
At these sites, you can hike, read about the history of the Ice Age flood, observe how the land has changed since the flood, and check out skeletons, sculptures and engravings.
5- John Day Fossil Beds National Monument
John Day National Monument’s fossil beds.
In east-central Oregon, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument tells many untold stories of ancient Oregon.
The vibrant rock formations hold a history that spans roughly 40 million years, including evidence of ecosystems, climate change, and the evolution of animals and plants.
There’s plenty to do outdoors at the national monument, including hiking, rafting on the John Day River, biking and fishing.
The national monument consists of three specific units: Sheep Rock, Painted Hills, and Clarno.
All units have hiking trails and picnic areas, and the Sheep Rock unit also is home to the Historic James Cant Ranch and the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center.
At the Historic James Cant Ranch, open only during the summer, you can check out museum exhibits that entail life on the ranch in the early 20th century.
The Thomas Condon Paleontology Center, however, is perhaps more characteristic of a national monument dedicated to fossil beds.
The centre features fossil displays of more than 500 fossils from the area, in addition to unique murals and a paleontology laboratory.
The Thomas Condon Paleontology Center is at 32651 HWY 19 Kimberly, OR 97848.
6- Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail
The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail is an extensive 4,900-mile (7,886-km) trail that wanders through 16 states.
Tracing the 1803 to 1806 Lewis and Clark expedition, the trail spans from Pennsylvania to the Pacific Ocean.
Along the lengthy trail in Oregon, there are 42 places to visit, including museums, state parks, hiking trails, waterfalls and wildlife refuges.
At these sites, you can hike, read about the history of the expedition, check out unique flora and more.
Specific points of interest include Mt. Jefferson, the Sandy River Delta, Tansy Point, Ecola State Park, and Fort Clatsop.
7- Lewis and Clark National Historic Park
Lewis and Clark national historic park structure.
The Lewis and Clark National Historic Park, not to be confused with the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, encompasses sites along the Pacific Coast and the Columbia River.
However, several sites that make up this national historic park also belong to the national trail.
For example, Ecola State Park is part of both the national trail and the national historic park.
Located just an hour west of Portland, this state park offers sightseeing and recreational activities along 9 miles (14.5 km) of the Oregon Coast shoreline.
Another main point of interest is the Fort Clatsop Visitor Center, where you can take a step back into the past at a replica of the fort.
The Lewis and Clark Expedition stayed at this encampment during the winter between 1805 and 1806, giving the site a rich history in the exploration of the United States.
There are plenty of educational displays, films and demonstrations inside the Fort Clatsop replica.
Hike a trail or check out the historic canoe landing.
The Fort Clatsop Visitor Center is at 92345 Fort Clatsop Rd, Astoria, OR 97103. Ecola State Park is in Clatsop County, just three miles (4.8 km) north of Cannon Beach.
