Fools Gold Or Bullion? The Metaverse Has Got Banks Thinking About A Radically Different Future Forbes
Fool’s Gold Or Bullion? The Metaverse Has Got Banks Thinking About A Radically Different Future – Forbes https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/fools-gold-or-bullion-the-metaverse-has-got-banks-thinking-about-a-radically-different-future-forbes/

When Mark Zuckerberg announced, almost a year ago, that Facebook was changing its name to Meta and starting to transform itself into a metaverse company, the news ignited a firestorm of fascination. Banking leaders around the world suddenly wondered whether the metaverse was the next big thing and, if so, what they needed to do about it.
Fast forward to today and we’re wading through a sea of metaverse speculation that has spouted comments ranging from ‘a pseudo-tech experiment that nobody really wants’ and ‘just a huge ad’ to ‘it’s coming and it’s a big deal’.
So who’s likely to be right here? Is this really the future?
Personally, I think the metaverse could be the most important tech trend to hit banking since the internet. Make no mistake we are still in the early days but that doesn’t mean banks should sit tight.
The building blocks underpinning the metaverse are out there. Some, like the bandwidth offered by 5G, are already fairly refined. Others remain a work in progress. For example, having accepted open metaverse standards, along the lines of HTTP for the web, would ensure interoperability across the metaverse, and a critical mass of users would help advance banks’ strategies. And a smartphone-like digital wallet could potentially encourage more banking customers to participate.
The good news is that we’re not starting from zero and early movers are emerging in banking. For example, Sweden’s Mercobank is looking at becoming a custodian of digital assets like non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Bank of America employees can train in virtual reality. Korea’s KB Kookmin Bank offers a full virtual banking experience, including one-on-one meetings with a financial advisor.
In the long run, the metaverse has the potential to revolutionize how banks interact with their customers, employees, and partners. If you’re not sure where to begin, consider focusing on these three areas:
1. Enabling existing functionality in 3D
Almost half of all bankers think customers will want to use AR or VR as a banking channel by 2030, so it’s no surprise that banks are exploring this area. Like online or mobile banking, think of the metaverse as another piece of glass—but now instead of viewing information in 2D, customers have it in 3D and can build a Minority Report style interactive view of their banking. VR and AR can also transform the employee experience, making them potent weapons in the war for talent.
2. Engaging with customers in meaningful new ways
Digital banking right now is too often functionally correct but emotionally devoid. The metaverse, ironically, offers banks the chance to bring humanity back to the experiences they offer customers—and to reach new audiences. With the metaverse, a bank can combine the convenience of digital with the intangible benefits of in-person interaction. Think about how you could bring the branch to the home. Imagine a virtual advisor conversation in the customer’s kitchen or closing on a home loan virtually.
3. Inventing new products and creating new markets
Digital assets—notably NFTs —bring the concept of property into the digital world, and banks would likely be the most trusted entity to hold our digital assets. That will create opportunities like creating custody services and developing asset-backed stablecoins. It will also let bold banks rethink the basics. How can you enable a customer to withdraw money in the metaverse? How will acceptance of ’cash’ work – will we be airdropping money? What is the equivalent of a wallet? How will you market to consumers? Businesses? Simply asking the questions will help guide your strategy.
Ultimately, the most important thing that banks entering the metaverse can do is to develop a strategy that aligns with their brand and purpose. Just being in the metaverse for the sake of being there or launching a branch in Decentraland is not a strategy. While the desire to be first to market is always high it’s less important than people think. After all, do you remember who the first bank to issue a debit card was?
How banks respond next will be telling. Will they take a leading role in defining and designing this new world, or spend the next decade or so scrambling to emulate what others have created? My money is on the banks.
Apple Using An old Chip In The IPhone Is A Good Thing For Everyone Android Central
Apple Using An “old” Chip In The IPhone Is A Good Thing For Everyone – Android Central https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/apple-using-an-old-chip-in-the-iphone-is-a-good-thing-for-everyone-android-central/
I’m not going to be buying an iPhone 14 for many different reasons, but there is one thing about it I really like — the fact that the “lesser” models are using last year’s Bionic chip.
This is something I hope we see more of because it’s really the best thing that could happen to the smartphone industry.
What’s happening here?
Apple’s iPhone 14 comes in several different flavors. You have the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus that are positioned as models for most users, and the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that are marketed towards the smartphone professional, whatever that is.
The cheaper models are using the older but very capable A15 Bionic that debuted in last year’s models, while the more expensive Pro models are using a newer A16 Bionic chip that is better because 16 is one more than 15.
Both models have the same connectivity options — including the emergency SOS satellite feature — and run the same software. there are other hardware difference like camera configurations, but these don’t have anything to do with the chip inside.
Why this is a great idea
(Image credit: Apoorva Bhardwaj / Android Central)
You might think this means the price for the cheaper models has got to be lower than last year because Apple is using older hardware. Of course you’re wrong, but it is the same price. In Apple world, that’s sort of being on sale. But this isn’t why I like this move.
I think every company that makes phones could do this — using existing hardware that is fully capable to power new phones while using brand new chips in the Ultra expensive (see what I did there?) “pro” models for the true hardware chasers.
We see something similar from every other smartphone maker, where cheaper phones use less powerful hardware. Samsung’s A-series phones are a great example of this. And of course, there will always be super cheap phones using whatever chip can be sourced for just a few pennies. Those should still be made, too, because not everyone wants or needs to spend more than $300 on a phone.
What’s missing though, is a true “flagship” model that is fully featured, has all the rest of the gadgets and gizmo features, but is using last year’s Snapdragon chip. And that’s where consumers could benefit.
Think about the Galaxy S21 FE if you will. The biggest complaint about it is the price tag. Sure other things are missing when compared to the regular S21, but the real problem with it was that it was only $100 cheaper.
Nobody wanted a phone with lesser general hardware specs for the $699 initial price, especially when the better standard Galaxy S21 was out there for less because of sales and discounts. The smart money move was to buy a Galaxy S20 or another awesome older phone at a big discount instead.
It didn’t have to be this way but Samsung decided customers would rather have lesser cameras and fake metal than using the previous year’s Snapdragon processor. The same Snapdragon processor that the company raved about when it released the S20. It had to cut corners and costs somehow.
In fact, that processor runs the very same software just as well as the “upgraded” Snapdragon 888 in the S21 FE does and has mostly the same connectivity options. Clearly, the Snapdragon 865 was as capable for almost everyone. If it wasn’t good enough for you, you could have bought the pro model.
Of course, the company benefits from this decision because it doesn’t have to deal with getting 100 million new chips made to slap them in 100 million new phones. This is big deal now that the world has reached the point where fabrication plants just can’t keep up with demand.
I’m more concerned with how we benefit though and having more choices when it comes time to buy a new phone is always better. A Galaxy S23 with the same chip as the Galaxy S22 would be great to use and would save us money.
(Image credit: Nick Sutrich / Android Central)
Enough trying to tie this to actual products filled with “what-ifs” and “I wish-es.” Apple users have the opportunity to buy a phone that’s fully capable and will be fully capable for the next few years and that’s great.
I’m not an iPhone user, but I’m not afraid to admit it when the company does a good thing. That’s what it did in 2022.

Crypto News: Big Eyes Is The Best Meme Coin Alternative To Shiba Inu NewsBTC
Crypto News: Big Eyes Is The Best Meme Coin Alternative To Shiba Inu – NewsBTC https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/crypto-news-big-eyes-is-the-best-meme-coin-alternative-to-shiba-inu-newsbtc/
One of the most intriguing innovations in the cryptocurrency market is the emergence of meme currencies. Meme currencies have captured our interest due to their potential to elicit excitement and a sense of community. Shiba Inu (SHIB) is the second most successful meme coin, especially among dog-themed coins. It has made its investors millionaires and repeatedly taken over the internet while focusing on retaining its dedicated fans.
Big Eyes (BIG), which is currently on presale, has had an exceptional start as opposed to most meme coins especially as it has broadened the buzz of meme currencies to the point of establishing real-world value. This article will teach you everything you need to know about Big Eyes (BIG).
Shiba Inu (SHIB) Stable, Safe & Well Established
SHIB is an ERC-20 token based on Ethereum, which was chosen above other platforms because it is already stable, safe, and well-established, and it allows for true decentralization. The original Japanese dog breed used by Dogecoin as its coin symbol is the Shiba Inu. To continue the trend of dog meme cryptocurrencies, an unknown person or group called Ryoshi launched a token named after the dog in 2020. Following a significant increase in value in 2021, it officially became Dogecoin’s adversary, trailing Floki Inu, Akita Inu, and Dogelon Mars.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) has surged consistently throughout its brief history before plummeting almost as quickly. Rather than focusing on price increases and worrying about missing out, it’s critical to understand what you’re purchasing and why it may or may not increase in value. Most cryptocurrencies aren’t backed by the assets or cash flow of an underlying firm.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) is one of the cryptocurrencies with a greater percentage of whales – large cryptocurrency holders – who are expected to have a significant impact on SHIB’s recent revival. According to recent cryptocurrency news, Ethereum whales increased their holdings in Shiba Inu (SHIB) by more than 580%, boosting Dogecoin’s competitor to second place from seventh.
Shiba Inu’s popularity has skyrocketed as a result of its competition with Dogecoin. The fact that it is an ERC-20 token with intentions to migrate to a proof-of-stake mechanism sets it apart from other meme coins. Holders of ShibaSwap, on the other hand, can exchange their cryptos for larger profits, akin to a savings account. A weighted pool pair is part of the curve’s financial ecosystem. It also plans to incorporate critical DeFi protocols into the Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystem, which will necessitate the usage of a solid bridge.
Big Eyes (BIG) The New Meme Token
Big Eyes (BIG) is a new meme token that aims to transfer revenue from monopolized industries into the DeFi ecosystem. Big Eyes (BIG) aspires to make its cryptocurrency a wealth generator for its users and charity endeavors by creating a blockchain ecosystem around its growing community.
The mascot of this meme currency is an anime-style cat with bulging pupils, which differs from the regular meme coins. Because many meme coins identify themselves with dogs, the token has an advantage over its competitors. Big Eyes made this strategic decision because its creator saw the cat environment as a “billion-dollar industry” that could be capitalized on by focusing on the “cute” market.
Big Eyes (BIG) seeks to capitalize on the increasing importance of NFTs in the crypto sector. Big Eyes plans to include an NFT collection in its top ten efforts, with NFT events taking place all year. If you get a Big Eyes NFT, you will be able to join the Big Eyes Sushi Crew.
Big Eyes (BIG) offers a completely decentralized environment in which members of the community can conduct all types of transactions (buying and selling) at ultra-fast rates with no transaction fees. Only during NFT transactions will consumers be forced to pay taxes (buying or selling). Finally, the cutting-edge development team is developing groundbreaking marketing tactics to increase the meme coin’s appeal, acceptability, and adoption.
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will be promoted through the ‘wear the stare’ program, which will feature both digital and physical art used to expand the buzz around Big Eyes Coin (BIG). This can also lead to network fundraising and ocean support; yes, Big Eyes Coin (BIG) is environmentally beneficial!
Big Eyes (BIG) is more than just a cute cryptocurrency platform that brings additional aesthetics to the cryptocurrency market. Like Shiba Inu (SHIB), it is created with features and values that ensure it has an impact on the crypto market. So you want to buy a lot of tokens and make a lot of money in the long run.

VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 14 – VietNamNet https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/vietnam-business-news-september-14-vietnamnet/
The manufacturing sector is a driving force behind economic growth, but manufacturers are still outcompeted by foreign rivals when it comes to core technologies, according to insiders.
Pham Tuan Anh, Deputy Director General of the Industry Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), attributed the technological inferiority to domestic firms’ limited resources and an inadequate labour force.
He said the manufacturing sector has been developing asymmetrically with an over-dependence on FDI firms. The economic over-representation of the firms can be observed visibly in the heavy industrial subsector.
The sector’s reliance on imported materials compounds the situation, resulting in low value-added domestic products. Industrial transition over the past few years, undoubtedly, has been fueled largely by FDI firms rather than domestic ones.
The official called for favourable policies to keep firms well-informed about advanced technologies and facilitate the emergence of big firms, which act as a catalyst for an industrial leap forward.
He also said not only should the manufacturing sector be heavily invested but so should supporting industries, which supply the former with fuels, components and materials.
Nguyen Huu Tu, member of the Vietnam Chemical Corporation’s Board of Directors, revealed that the chemical industry is up to domestic demand in terms of basic products, but it is not the case for high-tech ones.
He took technical rubber as an example, which domestic firms have a limited capability for mass-production. Imported rubber, accordingly, have to come in to fill the demand gap.
Tu called for Governmental Decision 726 to be implemented to accelerate the growth of the chemical industry. He also suggested a revision to tax policies to level the playing field for both domestic and imported fertilisers.
Lastly, he called for favourable policies on land rental in industrial parks and preferential loans for chemical producers to improve their competitive positions.
Dinh Quoc Thai, Secretary General of the Vietnam Steel Association, revealed that the steel industry produces up to 30 million tonnes of steel per year. However, 90% of the steel caters for building works, whereas just 10% goes to other industries.
The disproportion can be attributed to the fact that some industries cannot find certain types of domestically-made high-quality steel. They have to rely on imported steel to feed their production.
The secretary general urged MoIT to draw up the Strategy for the Development of the Steel Industry until 2030 with a vision to 2050, which is expected to nurture the sustainable growth of domestic steel.
Request for car registration fee cut extension turned down
The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has rejected a request to extend the 50% registration fee reduction for domestically manufactured and assembled automobiles until December 31, 2022.
On November 26 last year, the Government issued Decree 103/2021/ND-CP halving the registration fee for locally assembled and made automobiles, with effect until May 31, 2022. The fee cut came after the fourth wave of Covid-19 inflections had inflicted heavy damage on almost all sectors of the economy, including the automotive industry.
Just one month after the decree came out, December auto sales in the country soared 21% against the previous month at 46,759 units, according to data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA).
Auto sales growth continued into the first five months of this year, reaching 176,681 units, up 39% year on year. This means that during the six months of Decree 103 being in force, 223,440 autos benefited from the lower fee.
Regarding the proposal for a fee cut extension until the end of this year, the MOF said the fee reduction, if extended, would not be in line with the National Treatment Rules in the framework of the World Trade Organization, and with the free trade agreements (FTA) to which Vietnam is a signatory. Vietnam would be required to give an explanation by the member countries of the trade deals which do not have their companies making and assembling autos in the nation.
Covid has been brought under control and daily life has returned to normal. Therefore, the request for an extension of the auto registration fee cut is no longer appropriate, according to the MOF.
Banks speed up disbursement of VNĐ40 trillion interest subsidy package
Through credit packages with preferential interest rates, and products and services customised to each customer group’s needs, banks focus on helping enterprises access capital to restore production and business.
In May the Government issued Decree 31/2022/NĐ-CP on interest rate subsidies for loans given to enterprises, co-operatives and business households.
The 2 per cent subsidy offered under the decree and the State Bank of Vietnam’s Circular 03/2022/TT-NHNN is one of the most anticipated policies this year.
HDBank was one of the first banks to deploy the Government’s 2 per cent interest rate subsidy programme worth VNĐ40 trillion (US$1.69 billion).
Additional Vietnamese rice certified five-star
In addition to its globally-renowned ST25 fragrant rice, Vietnam’s ST24 rice line has also received 5-star certification.
The Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development has presented national “One commune, One product”, or OCOP, certification to 20 high-quality Vietnamese products, including ST24 fragrant rice.
Three years after winning second prize at the World’s Best Rice Contest, ST24 fragrant rice has now secured 5-star certification.
This provides motivation for relevant units and businesses to promote local specialties while attracting more investors and generating jobs in rural areas.
HCMC steps up extensive publicity program to woo tourists
Tourism agencies and district authorities in HCMC are launching multiple publicity programs to renew the city’s images to visitors with an aim to revive the hospitality industry post pandemic.
Districts across the city have been participating in the tourism promotion program titled Welcome to HCMC, each with its own peculiar attraction.
After a field trip to Go Vap District with the HCMC Department of Tourism, Phan Thi Thang, vice chairwoman of the HCMC government, noted the initiative in the district to woo tourists. Go Vap has announced its program “Go Vap – Looking for Age-old Vestiges.”
The vice chairwoman, however, said that districts have good potential to develop tourism, and what is needed is to find the right solutions to tap the potential.
Half of the districts have painstakingly created their own tourism programs with specific attractions, so the remaining districts should draw experiences to introduce other tourism products, she said.
As part of the city’s publicity program, several special products have been launched, including Hoc Mon District – Historical Land, District 5 – Memories of Saigon-Cholon, and District 12 – New Things to Explore, to name but a few.
Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, director of the HCMC Department of Tourism, said the department would join hands with the relevant agencies, districts and Thu Duc City to design tours.
The department will also cooperate with businesses and localities to reinvent tourist programs in HCMC for explorers to delve into the local culture and culinary delights.
Lately, HCMC has organized many events as part of the “Welcome to HCMC” program. These include the eighth Ao dai festival, the 18th HCMC tourism festival, and the international travel fair 2022.
Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Tourism, said the city is now focusing on digital marketing, alongside enhancing quality content and client interaction on social media such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
Besides, 3D technology has been used to re-create the city view, as seen from above, to promote tourism in the city.
HCMC is forecast to receive 25 million travelers this year, including some two million international visitors.
Spiking coal price creates mixed sentiment
The rising coal price is causing multiple hardships to a host of diverse sectors yet bringing advantages to several others.
Globally, the price of coke (used in steel production) in Australia, after a decline for nearly two months and falling to a one-year bottom of $190 per tonne in the first week of August, reached $270 per tonne on September 6, a more than 40 per cent jump, nearly approaching its historic peak of $275 per tonne on February 28.
According to CoalMint, a coal price reporting agency, the price is forecast to touch $300-330 per tonne. For heat coal (used in power and fertiliser production), its price on September 6 set a new record of $457 per tonne.
According to US Energy Information Administration, a gas shortage in Europe has bolstered demand for coal-fired thermo-power and pushed up coal prices.
In Vietnam, according to SSI Research, the price of mixed coal from the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) rose 30-35 per cent in the first half and will rise further amid soaring coal prices in the global market.
As coal is the key input material of many major production sectors, its skyrocketing price has badly affected many firms’ operations, particularly coal-fired power units.
Coal-fired thermal power currently accounts for 30 per cent of Vietnam’s total power production capacity.
According to the General Department of Customs, in the year to mid-July, despite a drop of 2.9 million tonnes of imported coal compared to one year ago, the coal import value was estimated at $4.7 billion, averaging $252 per tonne, nearly triple compared to one year ago.
Coal-fired thermal power currently accounts for 30 per cent of Vietnam’s total power production capacity.
The steel sector is also affected due by the soaring coal price.

UNDATED (AP) — Perhaps no team in the Pac-12 has worked the transfer portal harder than Southern California. The Trojans have 33 players who previously played at other four-year universities on their roster, including starting quarterback Caleb Williams. About half the starting QBs for the 131 Football Bowl Subdivision teams in this season’s openers didn’t initially attend their current schools. That includes 32 of the 65 Power Five teams, with 19 of those being first-year transfers.
UNDATED (AP) — Just two weeks into the season and it looks like so much we thought might be true in college football is wrong. No. 1 Alabama needed every little bit of misfortune that conspired against Texas, plus a Heisman-worthy performance by its Heisman Trophy winner, to avoid its first regular-season nonconference loss since 2007 against the Longhorns. No. 6 Texas A&M and No. 8 Notre Dame were not so fortunate. The Aggies and Irish were Sun Belted, losing at home to Appalachian State and Marshall, respectively. Throw on top of that Washington State knocking off No. 19 Wisconsin in Madison, and it was a difficult day for double-digit favorites.

Creativity Worth Shouting About: Yell’s Kavin Viasuwan On Mosquitos, The Metaverse, And Thai Talent | LBBOnline – Little Black Book – LBBonline https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/creativity-worth-shouting-about-yells-kavin-viasuwan-on-mosquitos-the-metaverse-and-thai-talent-lbbonline-little-black-book-lbbonline/
The creative director opens up about the unique characteristics of Thailand’s advertising industry
Have you ever seen a life-sized mosquito on the hunt for human blood? No? Sounds quite scary doesn’t it? Only a skilled creative agency like Yell Advertising Bangkok could formulate a light-hearted and humorous 3 minute approach to such an off-the-wall idea. The agency’s infamous ‘Say Goodbye to Thai Mosquitos’ mockumentary style spot for Soffell resonated with consumers around the globe, despite its distinctly Thai sense of humour.
LBB catches up with Kavin Viasuwan, the creative director behind the Soffell ‘Say Goodbye to Thai Mosquitos’ and many other eccentric advertising spots, to find out where he gets his inspiration from, how he ensures the creative hits all the rights notes and the projects he is most proud of.
LBB Tell us a bit about your professional journey so far; what was your start in the industry?
Kavin To be honest, I did not know anything about the advertising field before Yell. For many years, my career path was a little bit of a rollercoaster ride; I kept changing my mind and exploring what I really wanted to do. I started off as a graphic designer at a magazine, then I had a chance to study in Melbourne, for a year and a half. After I came back, I wanted to challenge myself by pursuing a role I had never worked in before: stationery design. This was quite interesting to me at the time but after a few years, I decided to quit and become a freelance graphic designer. Suddenly, one day, I got a phone call from my best friend asking me if I would like to try working in the advertising agency which was my first introduction to Yell. At first I doubted myself and was unsure about venturing down a career path I did not know anything about, but I was also excited about the opportunity. I went for it and got the job as art director, where I finally found the unexpected dream job. I am energised by the challenges and opportunities I face in this position at Yell.
LBB What sort of projects are you most drawn to?
Kavin I have been involved in many really enjoyable projects since I joined Yell, but if I had to pick, there are 3 projects that come to mind. These are the Soffell Mosquito Repellent, CP Bologna Metaverse and iQiyi campaigns; they top the list of best projects.
LBB When working on a new campaign, how do you ensure your vision for a film aligns with a brand’s identity?
Kavin To answer this question I would like to portray how I see the objective of the projects.
For me, insight is a “question”, idea is an “answer”, and brand identity is “how you say it”. So when you have an interesting question, you must answer it wisely and creatively. To align with a brand’s identity, you must shape ideas to fit the brand’s tone of voice, making the idea stronger and more credible.
LBB How do you immerse yourself in a creative project?
Kavin When it comes to the brainstorm session, every idea counts. In order to immerse ourselves in a new project, I try to create an atmosphere that encourages everyone to speak out about their ideas, no matter what they are. It’s like sitting and talking to friends about anything then a crazy great idea just pops up.
LBB How does the Thai advertising world differ from other global markets? How do you make sure Yell’s work stands out from the rest?
Kavin Thai advertising has its own uniqueness that people from all around the world recognise. It is extremely dramatic, whether it is humorous or dramatic, and is capable of touching the hearts of global audiences. Thai advertising is different from all other advertising. However, to ensure we stand out, Yell always finds a twist, turning the insights and ideas around before everything concludes. We find the right path to communicate the idea effectively to the consumers. Moreover, we are flexible and work well as a team – there are no boundaries, we throw everything at an idea.
LBB The Soffell ‘Say Goodbye to Thai Mosquitos’ advert has been exceptionally well received. Why do you think the campaign has been so successful?
Kavin We approached the brief creatively and correctly, blending strong insights with the right ideas. The film is so easy to watch and understand, it helps the idea standout automatically.
LBB Where did the idea of incorporating the first-hand narrative of a human sized mosquito come from?
Kavin From the insight that Thai people in every region really believe in mosquitoes being cruel and products like Soffell being incapable of scaring them away. We decided to make the mosquito human-size to emphasise the idea that they can be destroyed by Soffell.
LBB What are you most proud of about the Soffell campaign?
Kavin I am proud of the team; it is not just me and my team, but the planning and client services teams who believed in our idea and what we wanted to communicate. Imagine walking into the client’s meeting room and saying, “I want to make a film about life-sized mosquitoes” – not every client would be on board, but this client was. As a result, we were able to create one of the funniest advertising films in Thailand, which answers the objective in a creative way.
LBB Are you working on any exciting projects that you can tell me a bit about?
Kavin There are 2 more that I mentioned earlier; CP Bologna Mew-taverse and iQiyi. First, CP Bologna came to us for a campaign to promote the products “Bologna Spicy ” through the brand’s presenter fan-meeting. During the COVID period, it was quite difficult to hold such an event for the fans. Metaverse had become very famous at the time, however, there were very few brands who had adopted the technology effectively. We thought Metaverse was to use not to just show off talking about it, so we chose to use the Metaverse for the fan-meeting. We created spaces to party in the Metaverse and held a concert featuring the brand’s presenter. Eventually, the Mew-Taverse went viral. The tickets sold out in just 2 hours and there were more than a thousand fans participating – they were so thrilled with the experience.
Secondly, we worked with iQiyi, the streaming platform from China, who had struggled with the Thai market because Thais could not pronounce the brand name. To fix that problem, we created a catchy jingle that replicated the iconic song of Thailand, changing all the lyrics. The melody is so catchy, and the lyrics are easy “Ai Qi Yi, Ai Qi Yi, Ai Qi Yi”, so it automatically stuck in consumers’ minds. The song has become famous, with more than 7 million views on YouTube, with increased mentions of 1,248% which was an incredible success for the brand.
LBB As creative director, what are your hopes for the future of Yell?
Kavin I hope to build up strong teams who can not only strengthen the creative, but also the business angle, to help us achieve the company’s mission.

Your kitchen is a great place to add decorative yet functional elements such as modern tools and accessories that bring in style, aesthetics and innovation
From cooking traditional recipes to experimenting with new trending ones, a kitchen has to go through it all. Our kitchen is also one of our most used living spaces and it’s not just restricted to cooking alone. It plays a crucial role in helping us unwind after work, entertaining family and friends, or catching up with our loved ones over a nice traditional meal.
This year the season brings a new hope and a cause of celebration around the world and it’s time to uplift the hardest working room of your home with a kitchen facelift. While you might have not thought about it, but your kitchen is a great place to add decorative yet functional elements such as modern tools and accessories that bring in style, aesthetics and innovation while being mindful.
Here are few quick ways to give your kitchen a facelift this season:
Clutter-free kitchen spaces: The festivities around the house would make it even more important for us to keep the kitchen clutter-free. From having guests over, or hosting a get together, no one would not want people to see a cluttered kitchen. The quickest way to transition from cluttered to clean is to start by tidying up your kitchen drawers. “A utensil and gadgets organiser helps you with organising your messy cutlery and utensil drawer. Both sides of the tray can then be expanded either side to create even more storage space for larger utensils and also to fit your drawer perfectly,” says Anand Baldawa, CEO, thinKitchen. If you have a Pinterest board of your favourite kitchens or when you browse through social media, you’ll see that most great-looking kitchens seem like they are barely used. The counters are totally clear, and you see no trace of appliances like toasters. The secret to a clutter-free kitchen is a space roller and pull-down shutters – they help you conceal everything you would like to keep out of sight that you might not require.
Kitchen tools as design elements – Maximise utilitarian purchases by investing in tools that serve a function and look aesthetically pleasing. Get a big chopping block or board set that’s colourful and edgy or a knife set that looks appealing and leave them in a corner of the counter as a decor element. “A 5-piece knife block set offered by thinKitchen, is made from carefully selected materials, with intriguing textures that can give your kitchen Insta-worthy vibrance,” adds Baldawa.
A vase can be the answer – Unpopular opinion, but there are always nooks in the kitchen we don’t know what to do with. Consider adding drama to these corners with a bold planter. This gives a healthy confluence of bold and chic.
Add in some cool storage jars: There is always that see through glass cabinet in the kitchen that gives away the secrets of your cooking ways. Use this space to add colour and drama by filling up your staples in see through storage jars.
Clever lighting: Accents of light always give a space a glamorous look and feel. “Install some LED strips inside cabinets or over countertops to eliminate shadows and immediately make your kitchen look like it’s gone through an upgrade,” feels Baldawa.
Add some great looking serve ware: Invest in some cool serve ware to give a luxe feel to the kitchen and the dining area. A colourful bowl with a freshly cooked traditional homemade dish, can make a sea of difference about cooking, eating and making dining experiences more memorable with those.

How Crypto Is Evolving Luxury Real Estate In The USA NewsBTC
How Crypto Is Evolving Luxury Real Estate In The USA – NewsBTC https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/how-crypto-is-evolving-luxury-real-estate-in-the-usa-newsbtc/
What if buying a piece of real estate wasn’t a complex and time-intensive process? Dealing in real estate typically involves interacting with an intermediary, swimming through paperwork, and paying steep fees and commissions.
Even with the latest advancements in technology, many jurisdictions still require real estate buyers and sellers to show up in person to execute their documents. Most often, this is due to notaries being required to see people physically sign documents, and while some notaries can do this task virtually, not all have the same capabilities.
Now, with the help of cryptocurrency (specifically NFTs and smart contracts), the trajectory of real estate transactions is rapidly changing. We’re talking about taking out the middleman and obtaining and transferring ownership with ease. Sales can even be made through sites similar to eBay, but with a new level of added security.
In this writing, we will be specifically focusing on crypto’s effect on the luxury real estate market. But first, let’s start with the basics—how NFTs and smart contracts work.
What is an NFT?
NFTs, short for non-fungible tokens, are cryptographic tokens that can come in the form of many things (e.g., music, drawings, videos). Each NFT is 100% unique and cannot be replicated or replaced. Many times, NFTs represent digital ownership of something, such as a piece of digital art. In other instances, they can be representative of a physical item, such as real estate property and memberships.
NFTs use blockchain technology to maintain their verifiability and proof of ownership. Theoretically, the actual digital file that an NFT lies on can, in fact, be copied, but this does not mean that someone has taken over ownership. The culprit would need access to the smart contract that’s attached to the NFT as well. Moreover, they would have to be able to alter the smart contract that has been recorded on the blockchain, which is virtually impossible to do.
What is a smart contract?
Smart contracts are self-executing pieces of code built to facilitate a transaction. The transaction automatically resolves after pre-defined conditions have been met. The contracts are coded into the blockchain and maintained by regulators after recording them.
They are binding contracts that do not require the interference of a central authority or legal system. Because of this, they’re much more cost-efficient. After all, attorneys, realtors, and appraisers are never cheap.
How are the two transforming luxury real estate?
As previously mentioned, the two above elements are changing the luxury real estate industry by cutting out intermediaries, but another way is by innovating the use of memberships. If you’ve ever owned a timeshare or had a country club membership, you probably know that ownership is not easily transferred. Moreover, your package typically includes an annual renewal process and membership dues.
Now, with promising memberships such as the Aspen Lakes Membership by RHUE Resorts, assets can be owned in perpetuity without the need for annual renewal. Said assets can even be passed down through family members and friends if desired. Conversely, memberships can be sold in secondary markets such as OpenSea, an NFT marketplace that’s similar to eBay.
Through the NFT membership model, Aspen Lakes Membership purchasers can enjoy:
Little to no application process or fees
No annual recurring dues
Transferability with ease (no middleman required)
Existing amenities, such as the world-class 18-hole golf course, pro-shop, restaurant, wedding and event center.
Most NFTs are restricted to being purchased with cryptocurrency only which can ostracize certain investors. RHUE Resorts is combating this by allowing the purchase of memberships through cryptocurrency or debit/credit cards. This allows them to appeal to the traditional market while also engaging crypto-enthusiasts.
City DAO
Another example is the crypto project City DAO. The idea here is that a person can purchase a piece of land in Wyoming and sell rights of governance to interested parties. Those who want to be a piece of the government structure must obtain a certificate of citizenship via NFT. It’s important to note that citizens are not the owners of the land. They only make decisions regarding it, which includes policy changes and regulations.
Of course, in this kind of “government” structure, there are only so many memberships that can be purchased.
FlyFish Club
FlyFish Club (FFC) brings an interesting spin to the food industry. The private dining club hosts the world’s very first NFT restaurant that requires an NFT membership for dining access. Said restaurant will feature over 10,000 square feet and be in an “iconic location” in New York City. In addition, FFC NFT purchasers can enjoy “various culinary, cultural, and social experiences,” according to the FlyFish Club website. The project makes several big promises, however, it’s still in its infancy.
Great offerings and optimistic ideas
While NFTs and blockchain are opening doors in several industries, it’s still hard to tell which ventures are going to “stick.” Projects like City DAO have interesting ideas but have yet to provide anything concrete. On the other hand, companies such as RHUE Resorts are established and flourishing, providing luxury in real life immediately.
The blockchain looks to revolutionize numerous industries with the many efficiencies and advantages it has over traditional alternatives. Real estate has shown that it’s ripe for improvement and looks to be the perfect candidate to enter the world of cryptocurrency and NFTs.

RMS Futers: Industry Needs fast Agile Technology To Manage Challenging Exposures Re-Insurance.com
RMS’ Futers: Industry Needs “fast, Agile Technology” To Manage Challenging Exposures – Re-Insurance.com https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/rms-futers-industry-needs-fast-agile-technology-to-manage-challenging-exposures-re-insurance-com/
Even where adoption of new technology has been cautious, Jason Futers, managing director at RMS, sees developments as positive, he told The Insurer TV during the Monte Carlo Rendez-Vous.
His comments suggest that several years of record insurtech investment may have helped shake off the industry’s traditional reputation as a tech laggard.
“The relationship is definitely very healthy. There has been caution, but even the caution has been healthy,” he told The Insurer TV.
“We’re seeing so many examples now that are building confidence in the industry that is going to add huge value,” Futers said.
Futers, previously co-founder and CEO of exposure data platform Insurdata, was hired by RMS in July 2021 to run its UK insurance business.
The move marked a return to the company for Futers, who originally joined the catastrophe risk modeller in 1998 and held a series of roles over the subsequent years.
He cited several recent industry developments as particularly strong examples of tech collaboration. These included: Ki, Brit’s digital follow-only Lloyd’s syndicate, launched at the beginning of 2021; Vave, the property cat-focused insurtech MGA set up by Canopius in 2018; and RMS’ own recent work partnering with Hiscox.
Hiscox announced in December last year that it was working with RMS to increase its use of RMS Location Intelligence API technology, aiming to improve customer experience for coverholders by providing real-time tailored quotes.
“We definitely see momentum building, and we think it’s going to make a real difference,” said Futers.
Legacy systems still in use by the sector for transacting risk and paying claims “do the job”, he noted, but there is still great potential for efficiency savings through using newer tech, Futers suggested.
“It could be much, much more efficient, and I think that’s what the industry collectively is looking at. There are so many examples of that, if you look at the systems, along with the workflow that clients are using on a regular basis, it could just be much more efficient,” he said.
“That’s not just a preference for efficiency, that actually feeds into writing business. So where clients can write much more business, they can improve their quote-to-bind ratio, and build a richer understanding of the underlying risks. Increasingly, we think that’s important,” Futers added.
Cloud adoption in recent years has also led to a new generation of systems created from scratch that are geared towards the software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology model, he emphasised.
“That makes a huge difference to the market. So it’s not taking what you’ve got today and putting it in the cloud, it’s actually giving you much faster capabilities. When you think of the risk being written, and why the reinsurer is really thinking this, is that it gives them more opportunities.”
Nimbler, cloud-based infrastructure becomes more vital the more the industry embraces data-led underwriting and relies on better analytics to navigate secondary perils and evolving climate change risks.
“When you look at the kind of perils where there are opportunities in the market, they are high-resolution perils,” Futers said. “Wildfires are a good example, and flood, of course, is a great example. Those are massive opportunities, but you’ve got to have a rich understanding of the underlying exposure. And you need fast, agile technology to do it.”

Back Pain: Stretching can help reduce and prevent back pain
Back pain is a common occurrence in people’s life. It is also one of the most prevalent medical conditions. As you grow older, back pain is more likely to affect you. In one of her recent Instagram stories through her handle @Nutrition.By.Lovneet, nutritionist Lovneet Batra discusses 5 tips that can help prevent back pain.
Here are 5 prevention tips that can help you avoid back pain:
1. “Stretch often”
Nutritionist Lovneet Batra elaborates, “Stretching helps improve circulation in those muscles and lower the risk of back pain and damage.” If your back hurts, you might believe that resting and limiting exercise are the best ways to find relief. Resting for a day or two could be beneficial, but any longer could make the pain worse. Experts now understand how regular exercise can reduce muscle stress and inflammation.
2. “Improve your posture”
“Poor posture can put unnecessary pressure and strain on your spine.” Explains nutritionist Batra. Standing with your heels up against a wall will help you check your posture. Your head, shoulders, and back should all touch the wall when you stand. You should be able to reach behind the back with one hand. Move forward and reach a regular position now. If your posture changes, immediately adjust it.
3. “Increase your calcium and vitamin D intake”
Inflammation, a known cause of back pain, has been found to be decreased by a wide variety of foods. Along with this, foods rich in calcium and vitamin D directly strengthen our bones.
4. “Put out that cigarette”
“Nicotine restricts blood flow to the disks in the spine.” Mentions nutritionist Batra. Along with this, smokers are particularly prone to back pain because smoking reduces the blood’s ability to carry nutrients to the spinal discs.
5. “Maintain a healthy weight”
“Too much weight can put stress on your back.” She mentions. Being overweight, especially around the midsection, can aggravate back discomfort by changing your centre of gravity and straining your lower back. Back pain might be managed if you stay within 5 kilograms of your optimal weight.

US Supreme Court Should Tackle Acquitted Conduct Sentencing Bloomberg Law
US Supreme Court Should Tackle Acquitted Conduct Sentencing – Bloomberg Law https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/us-supreme-court-should-tackle-acquitted-conduct-sentencing-bloomberg-law/
This past term, the US Supreme Court handed down a decision on federal criminal sentencing that produced an unexpected lineup of justices.
The opinion, authored by Justice Sonia Sotomayor and joined by justices Clarence Thomas, Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan, and Neil Gorsuch, says that judges can consider post-sentencing rehabilitation and legal changes when resentencing an incarcerated person under the rules provided in the First Step Act. Groups from across the spectrum had urged the court to reach that very conclusion.
Taking up the issue of acquitted conduct sentencing this next term will give the court another opportunity to tackle a criminal justice issue that unites people from across the spectrum.
This practice allows judges to use conduct a defendant was acquitted of by a jury to increase a defendant’s sentence or punishment for a separate crime. This tool essentially allows judges to veto a jury’s decision when they merely disagreed with their conclusion.
At least three current justices have questioned or called for an end to this unjust practice. And they do not stand alone, as other recent members of the court have also noted this issue demands action, including former justices Antonin Scalia, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Anthony Kennedy.
There is reason to hope other members of the court would also agree acquitted conduct sentencing is unconstitutional given their professional backgrounds and experience on the front lines working in the criminal justice system.
The justices are not alone. For years, many lower federal court judges have also forcefully argued that acquitted conduct sentencing is unconstitutional. And a growing number of state courts have also broken ranks with the federal courts, calling this sentencing practice what it is: unconstitutional.
This broad criticism underscores the appalling nature of this practice. It is not only unjust to defendants but also undermines the legitimacy of our criminal justice system and eviscerates the role of juries as a check on government abuse and overreach.
We both frequently have conversations with friends, advocates, and partners who have no idea this practice occurs. The response is always shock and confusion about how such a practice can exist in America. This horrified reaction mirrors our own, which is why we continue to advocate for the end of this practice.
The Supreme Court has a perfect opportunity to reconsider this practice by accepting a case called McClinton v. United States. It’s another example of how this practice plays out in the real world.
A federal district court judge used a crime for which the jury declined to convict Dayonta McClinton at trial to increase his prison sentence by more than 220%.
That is why Americans for Prosperity Foundation and many others are urging the court to at least accept this case so that it can hear arguments from both sides about the constitutionality of this concerning practice. A growing coalition of voices is also joining us in that call.
This includes organizations like the Niskanen Center, Right on Crime, the R Street Institute, the Sentencing Project, Dream.org Justice, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Others urging the court to reconsider this questionable practice include the National Association of Federal Defenders, FAMM, the Cato Institute, and respected federal sentencing expert Doug Berman.
There is also additional reason for hope in this case. On July 14, the Supreme Court asked the government to formally respond to McClinton’s cert petition. This suggests that there is at least some interest on the court in considering this issue, as it previously didn’t take this action in multiple prior cases.
People from across the ideological spectrum are asking the court to finally consider and resolve this issue.
This broad support for jettisoning acquitted conduct sentencing can even be seen in one of the most divided places in America—the House of Representatives—where a bill to end the use of acquitted conduct sentence passed with a nearly unanimous vote.
But even with this overwhelming support in the House, there is no guarantee the bill will pass. And in any event, some states will continue to permit consideration of acquitted conduct at sentencing because their laws will not be impacted by federal legislation.
The time has come for the Supreme Court to step in and put an end to this unconstitutional sentencing practice.

Tigard Polices Unique Unit Dedicated Business Crime Fox 12 Oregon
Tigard Police’s Unique Unit Dedicated Business Crime – Fox 12 Oregon https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/tigard-polices-unique-unit-dedicated-business-crime-fox-12-oregon/
TIGARD Ore. (KPTV) – The Tigard Police Department just might have the biggest property crime unit in the region, thanks to its unique funding source.
It’s called the Commercial Crime Unit; the team consists of three detectives and one sergeant who are dedicated to fighting crime for local businesses.
If you own a business in Tigard, some of your business license fees fund the positions.
The program has been in place for 14 years in Tigard and city employees say the unit’s funding structure is unique among police departments on the west coast, and possibly the nation.
“We have the luxury of our unit, where we can, actually go out and investigate these things, so it’s not just a patrol unit going call to call to call,” said Gabriel Stone, one of the detectives assigned to the unit.
And as other local police departments have, in recent years, struggled to devote resources to fight property crime, Tigard Police’s unit has expanded since it started — their jobs, untouchable, as long as those business license fees pour in.
The detectives investigate fraud, phone scams, fake luxury goods, shoplifting and organized retail crime, among other duties.
Recently, detectives showed Fox 12 some of the popular methods used by thieves, such as ATM skimmers and even a money-washing scheme that allows them to alter money.
“So these bills in here are one-dollar bills,” said Detective Kaci Mace, holding up a jar with bills rolled up in a liquid. “They will soak them in a special solution and once they’ve soaked long enough, they will take them out, remove the ink and reprint with a different denomination, like $50 or $100.
In Tigard, police say organized retail crime is one of the biggest issues that businesses face.
“They’ll come down and steal armloads of fragrances or cosmetics or even clothing,” Stone said. “They’ll steal them by the stack load and then through our investigation, we’ll see that they have like a pop-up store, online sales – like a Craigslist or an Offer Up.”
It’s these sorts of cases where Mace recently had a victory: A Washington County grand jury recently indicted a suspect on several aggravated theft charges, stemming from $200,000 in stolen merchandise from Target and Fred Meyer, over a period of six months.
The same suspect also has three felony warrants out of Clark County.
Fox 12 is not naming the suspect because police are still trying to capture him.
“We have loss prevention agents from other counties that will contact us and say ‘hey, we could use your guys’ help with this.’ If we can find a business with a tie to Tigard, then we are all about it,” Mace said.
And while the work may be endless, these detectives say it’s rewarding.
“We’re actually able to hold (thieves) accountable,” Stone said. It’s a big point of pride for us to be able to defend the businesses in our city.”
“People start to know, ‘oh we’re not going to Tigard, they actually investigate cases,’” Stone added.

Indian gaming captured just over $39 billion dollars in gaming win in 2021, up 40.2 percent from the pandemic-closure disrupted year of 2020. While the trend was not a complete surprise, the magnitude of the increase was remarkable. Not only did Indian gaming recover all of the ground lost the year before, it swept by the previous 2019 record year by 12.9 percent, setting a strong new record.
On its face, the massive jump in revenue is wonderful news for Indian casinos. Every region experienced an increase of at least 28.3 percent from 2020 and only three regions failed to break the 40 percent mark for year over year increases. It is an exciting and worthy tribute to the customer appeal of Indian gaming; to the professionalism of Indian casino managers and marketing executives; to the resilience of an industry that was completely closed for parts of 2020 and continued to suffer sporadic closures and capacity constraints or operating restrictions in 2021; and, above all, a tribute to the prudent, often more conservative, approach taken by tribes across the country in protecting their people, staff and customers from the worst of the ravages of the pandemic.
Without minimizing the good year, a deeper dive into the NIGC data shows that the experience of the industry still varied by region and size of facility. Three regions did not fully return to their prior 2019 highs. A fourth region surpassed 2019 but by less than the overall average, which was driven higher by more spectacular performance in two of the largest regions by revenue. The Tulsa region, which covers Eastern Oklahoma and Kansas, experienced by far the greatest increase over its 2019 peak, up 27.8 percent and the second highest increase from 2020 at 49.9 percent. The Sacramento region, the largest by total gaming win, had the second highest increase over 2019 at 23.2 percent but ranked only fifth out of eight regions in its year over year increase from 2020. At the other end, the Rapid City region had by far the highest increase over 2020 at 56 percent, but has still not fully recovered all of its losses from 2019. The Phoenix and St. Paul regions also still trailed 2019 but were toward the lower end of the year over year increases from 2020 as well. Oklahoma City, which covers the rest of Oklahoma and Texas, did not see the same degree of increase as Tulsa and continues to show a lower total win figure than Tulsa after having captured more revenue in 2019. The figure Revenue Change by Region shows the comparative increases in gaming revenue by NIGC regional office area.
After suffering the biggest drops in 2020, the top revenue bracket experienced the greatest increases in 2021, with the total up nearly 100 percent over the prior year. The number of Indian casinos with more than $250 million in revenue nearly doubled in 2021 and was 30 percent higher than in 2019. Indian casinos capturing more than $250 million in gaming win, the top tier for NIGC figures, now account for more than 50 percent of total Indian gaming win despite representing less than nine percent of total properties.
Three of the four revenue categories below $50 million actually showed decreases in total revenue in 2021 from 2020. Much of the change in revenue direction comes from movement between the categories as casinos that fell into lower categories in 2020, shifted to higher categories in 2021. The number of casinos in the bottom four categories dropped to 349 in 2021, from 401 in 2020. However, many of the casinos located in the Rapid City and St. Paul regions, which have not yet fully recovered regionally, fall into the lower revenue tiers and could also account for part of the overall decline. Despite the overall upward trend for the industry, the total number of casinos decreased by 14 nationwide.
On an average per property basis, three revenue ranges had higher averages than last year while the other four were lower rather than higher. Even for average per property figures, it is important to note that for all but the top and bottom tiers, movement out of a tier in 2021 would come from the highest performing properties while movement into a tier would come from properties that previously performed at lower levels and most likely still perform below average for their new tier.
Although the across-the-board positive experiences of 2021 versus 2020 and the new heights achieved in many regions give reason for optimism, it is important to remember that many operations are still trying to regain their momentum. There are many situations, particularly in some of the higher performing regions along the west coast, of casinos that are tracking year-to-date in 2022 below what they saw in 2021. While a region wide retrenchment from 2021 numbers is not predicted, there is enough evidence that some areas experienced an artificial boost in 2021 from pent up demand, substantial government subsidies, extra spare time and differences in capacities, availability, operating restrictions and perceived safety between casinos and other recreational forms. In particular, vacation travel is taking more people out of their home territories this year and diverting funds they may have spent last year at area casinos.
Aside from whatever anomalous demand shifts occurred in 2021, the industry is facing serious headwinds this year in the form of high inflation rates and significant labor and supply shortages. While there is some limited evidence that both situations may be moderating, the evidence is far from comprehensive or conclusive. With operating costs rising, customer spending under pressure and service delivery continuing to hold back operations from even fully reopening, let alone growth, the continued recovery and possible new growth will be anything but smooth. Nevertheless, after what the industry weathered in 2020, it is anticipated that those staffing and managing Indian casinos across the country will be able to work through the challenges.
The key question hanging over the industry and the economy as a whole is whether or not we will fall into a recession and, if we do, when, how bad and for how long? Recession is a much more serious problem for casinos than inflation. Based upon the evidence to date, it does not appear we have entered a recession as of yet and it is still possible to avoid one, at least one that would be severe or prolonged. However, the warning signs are multiplying as fast or faster than the positive indicators on inflation and labor and supply shortages. We are seriously at risk of making a recession a self-fulfilling prophecy if the relentless media coverage and lack of clear and confident direction from government and central banks continues as it is. Customer and small business confidence are such major drivers of the economic engine that enough negative attitudes can actually instigate what we are trying to avoid. This is not an exhortation for a Ford-era Whip Inflation Now campaign and other pie-in-the-sky sentiment. It is a simple recognition that the level of uncertain but more negative than positive public statements, news and punditry are adding to rather than simply reporting on, the struggles of the economy. While a recession remains a major concern, there is still an outcome that does not include one of any significant degree other than perhaps a shorter-term and shallow dip sometime in 2023 or early 2024.
We do not foreclose the potential for additional Indian gaming revenue growth in 2022. However, it is expected to be modest, if any, and possibly still not clearing the magic $40 billion mark. It as also very possible that 2022 will end up being flat to slightly down, marking part of 2021’s performance as a one-off explosive response from a frustrated customer base that masked and temporarily overwhelmed the underlying operating issues that have not yet been fully resolved.

Ohio County Residents Sound Off On Noise Ordinance Wheeling Intelligencer
Ohio County Residents Sound Off On Noise Ordinance – Wheeling Intelligencer https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/ohio-county-residents-sound-off-on-noise-ordinance-wheeling-intelligencer/
Members of the public turn out for a public hearing Tuesday night to express their thoughts on whether a noise ordinance is needed in the county.
Ohio County residents are divided on the idea of having a noise ordinance in the county, but many say they believe law enforcement already has tools they can use if they need to silence ATVs or large semi-trucks with unacceptable loud sounds.
A total of 16 people spoke before county commissioners Tuesday night during a public hearing where they were asked to sound their thoughts on the issue.
Commissioners and Solicitor Don Tennant explained at the start of the hearing no such noise ordinance has yet to be formulated for Ohio County. The public hearing was intended to give county officials some idea as to whether residents wanted such a law, and what details it should entail.
The issue of extreme noise coming from modified ATVs riding in the Grimes Ridge Road area on the northeast corner of Ohio County was recently brought to county commissioners, along with a request for a county noise ordinance..
The first to speak at the public hearing was Wayne Haberfield, who said he first approached the commissioners more than six years ago about the back-up signals sounded by trucks at the Tunnel Ridge mine.

He said he closes his windows and runs the air conditioners on nights it is not needed just so he is able to sleep.
“We’ve had nothing but noise since 2012, and the commission has done nothing about it,” Haberfield said.
Dr. Mathew Wood also spoke out in favor of having a noise ordinance, adding that noise pollution contributes to a multitude of health disorders.
“When I think of the phrase ‘Mountaineers are always free,’ we should be free – free from noise that obstructs our otherwise peaceful life,” he said.
Those living in the country currently do not have a voice or legal channel when it comes to protesting a noise disturbance, Wood added.

Ohio County commissioners Don Nickerson, left, Zach Abraham and Commission President Randy Wharton prepare to listen to discuss Tuesday as members of the public expressed their thoughts on whether a noise ordinance is needed in the county.
“You’ve never heard anyone say I love living in the country because it is so noisy,” he said. “It is, in fact, quite the opposite.”
But Tim Elliott sees living in the country – even with noise – as a healthy lifestyle leading to strong families and an even stronger foundation for children.
“I guess I’m the one who probably started all this noise back in 1969,” he began. “My dad got a motorcycle, my mom got a motorcycle and I got a motorcycle. We would go for evening rides on the back country roads.”
Elliott added that he also took his muffler off his motorcycle, and was soon stopped by a police officer who told him he needed to reinstall it or face disturbing the peace charges.
Laws for maintaining a respectable noise level already exist, but should be enforced, he said.

John Tominack speaks before Ohio County commissioners Tuesday night during public hearing Tuesday night. Participants spoke on whether or not a noise ordinance is needed in the county.
Elliott spoke of his grandchildren who grew up in the country riding motorcycles and had “a good, square start in life.”
Two of his grandchildren, Jenna and Makenna Medlen, also spoke out against the need for a noise ordinance.
“We live out here for a reason,” Makenna Medlen said. “The country makes us who we are.”
Others addressing the commission said the “noise level isn’t that bad” where they live.
Cody Tominack, an inspector for the Mine Safety And Health Administration, added a noise level might just give some residents with a vendetta against their neighbors an excuse to call out Ohio County deputies, who don’t have the time or manpower to bother with neighborhood disputes.

Dogs that bark nonstop, and large trucks emitting large brake sounds also are a noise issue, with at least one person saying they even hear the West Liberty University band practicing at times where they live because sound travels in their area.
“It seems we’re divided down the middle,” Ohio County Commission President Randy Wharton said at the conclusion of the hearing.
He encouraged everyone to be open-minded as commissioners further deliberate the issue.
