Lung Health: Lifestyle Changes To Improve The Health Of Your Lungs – NDTV https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/lung-health-lifestyle-changes-to-improve-the-health-of-your-lungs-ndtv/ Lung Health: Surround yourself with greenery to increase oxygen around you An important respiratory organ, the lungs are situated on each side of the heart, close to the backbone. Their primary job is to discharge carbon dioxide from the bloodstream into the atmosphere and transfer oxygen from the atmosphere into the bloodstream. Lungs never take a break. A healthy individual breathes around 25,000 times each day. You can maintain the health of your lungs in a variety of ways. Your lungs can benefit greatly from simple dietary adjustments, healthy lifestyle improvements, and healthy behaviours. Besides, quitting smoking, eating well, etc. there are various other lifestyle changes that improve your lung health. In this article, we discuss simple life changes you can implement to promote the longevity of your lungs and ensure your lungs stay healthy. These lifestyle changes ensure better health of your lungs and overall body: 1. Engage in vigorous exercise The most crucial thing you can do to improve the condition of your lungs is to exercise regularly. Exercise maintains your lungs in condition, just as it does for your body. The heart beats more quickly and the lungs work even harder when you exercise. To feed your muscles, your body requires extra oxygen. In order to provide that oxygen while also releasing more carbon dioxide, your lungs work harder. 2. Be careful of air pollutants There are a number of additional airborne contaminants that are bad for your lungs and general health. Even synthetic scents used in air fresheners and laundry detergents create dangerous chemicals. Your lungs can be harmed by air pollution, which can also fasten ageing. Your lungs are readily able to resist these pollutants when they are healthy and youthful. But as they age, they lose part of their protection and become more susceptible to illnesses. 3. Add real plants to your space As plants have a built-in ability to eliminate some air pollutants naturally, adding plants to our homes improves the oxygen and air quality in our living spaces. This is particularly crucial in the winter when the weather forces us to spend the majority of our time indoors. 4. Avoid catching infections Your lungs might be particularly vulnerable to infections, especially as you become older. Infections are especially dangerous for those who already have respiratory conditions like COPD. However, if elders aren’t vigilant, pneumonia can quickly strike even healthy elderly. Keeping your hands clean is the most effective strategy to prevent lung infections. Wash often with warm water and soap, and try to keep your hands as far away from your face as possible. 5. Drink ample water For your health, consume a lot of water. Furthermore, the health of your lungs is affected by staying hydrated. You may breathe more freely by drinking water since it thins the mucus secretions that naturally build up in your lungs every day. 6. Practice deep breathing If you’re like most individuals, you only use a tiny section of your lungs when you take short breaths from your chest area. Thorough oxygen exchange is created by deep breathing, which also helps to cleanse the lungs. Deep breathing techniques and exercises also help increase our lung capacity. Finally, you are always encouraged to quit smoking and passive smoking to improve and preserve the health of your lungs and overall body. Questions Meta Needs To Answer About The Metaverse At Connect Yahoo Finance
Questions Meta Needs To Answer About The Metaverse At Connect Yahoo Finance
Questions Meta Needs To Answer About The Metaverse At Connect – Yahoo Finance https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/questions-meta-needs-to-answer-about-the-metaverse-at-connect-yahoo-finance/ Just under a year ago, Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company he founded as a Harvard undergrad would change its name to Meta. “From now on, we’re going to be metaverse-first, not Facebook-first,” he said during a virtual keynote at the company’s Connect event. Zuckerberg has spent the year since hyping all things metaverse. He’s shown off dystopian VR offices, looked at pictures of space in VR with Neil deGrasse Tyson and persuaded more than one professional athlete to play VR games with him. He went on Joe Rogan’s podcast to extol the virtues of mixed martial arts and virtual reality. Rogan even got an early demo of Meta’s new high-end VR headset, which is expected to launch during Connect. But the metaverse has also proved to be a massive money pit. In the last year alone, the company has lost billions of dollars on its metaverse ambitions, and the trend is unlikely to reverse any time soon. The company, which last year announced plans to hire 10,000 workers in Europe solely to build its metaverse, is now cutting staff and reorganizing teams. So at this year’s Connect, which kicks off at 10 AM PT tomorrow with a keynote from Zuckerberg, the stakes feel even higher. And we still have a lot of questions about what it really means to be a “metaverse company.” Can Zuckerberg explain what the metaverse even is (again)? It’s perhaps the most obvious issue, but in the nearly a year since Zuckerberg first attempted to articulate what a metaverse is, it’s still not very clear. Last year, Zuckerberg described it as “an embodied internet where you’re in the experience, not just looking at it.” The company’s website currently says the metaverse is “the next evolution in social connection and the successor to the mobile internet.” But what those words mean to most people is fuzzy at best. “Outside of early adopters and tech-savvy people, there’s still confusion as to what is the metaverse and what we’re going to be doing with it,” says Carolina Milanesi, a consumer analyst with Creative Strategies. That means Zuckerberg will not only need to offer an understandable definition, but an idea of what it will mean for the billions of people already on his platform. Which brings us to… Can it ever look cool? Zuckerberg’s Horizon avatar was widely mocked. This may not seem like the most important problem facing Zuckerberg’s vision for a mobile internet-replacing metaverse, but it’s one that could go a long way toward building the hype he so desperately craves. Because, right now, Meta’s metaverse looks… kind of crappy. This was never more apparent than when Zuckerberg very earnestly shared a capture from Horizon Worlds of his avatar in front of a VR Eiffel Tower and Sagrada Familia that could generously be described as flat and amateurish. He quickly followed up with a new avatar, and promised better graphics for Horizon Worlds would be coming at Connect. But Meta will need to show more than just graphics that look like they were created this millennium. Ideally, it would show a metaverse experience that actually looks cool. Or at least one that could appeal to people already spending time in Roblox or Fortnite or other metaverse-adjacent spaces. Milanesi adds that it would help to show off metaverse experiences that go beyond just having meetings or hanging out with strangers in VR. “I think there are other use cases either on the education side or on the entertainment side, that might be a bit more interesting,” she says. However, early signs suggest we shouldn’t expect drastic improvements to Horizon Worlds. According to a recent report from The Verge, the app is so buggy that the company is struggling to get its own employees to use it consistently. How will it get creators and third-parties on board? But that brings up another issue: for all of Zuckerberg’s talk about interoperability and making the metaverse an open ecosystem, Meta has so far shown little progress when it comes to bringing outside developers or other companies into its vision in a meaningful way. They’ve also already alienated many creators and would-be early adopters with a 48-percent commission on sales of virtual items in Horizon Worlds. For a company that has made Apple’s “App Store Tax” a central talking point, and has made investing in creators one of its top priorities, it’s no surprise that a high take feels like a slap in the face to creators. Mark Zuckerberg in what’s likely the company’s new VR headset. How will it handle harassment, misinformation and other harms? Considering Meta’s track record on unintended harms, the company has said surprisingly little about how it plans to address these issues in the metaverse. The company has given cursory nods to trust and safety in the Metaverse — Meta policy chief Nick Clegg has talked about defining standards for the metaverse — but so far the company seems to be borrowing from the same playbook it’s always used. Already, this is more than a theoretical problem. Meta added a “Personal Boundary” feature in February, billing it as a way for people to protect their personal space while in VR. But that update only came after reports of groping in the metaverse had already gone viral. While that update may address one form of harassment, others have noted it could also encourage other disturbing behaviors, like encircling users in an effort to virtually “gang up” on them. It also shows that Meta is still largely reactive when it comes to safety issues: spinning up new features and quick fixes in response to a bad news cycle rather than launching with them already in place. What about AR and non-headset enabled experiences? We’re expecting Zuckerberg to talk a lot about virtual reality — the company is launching its newest headseat at Connect — but it’s a lot less clear how augmented reality fits into the company’s current plans. Meta has teased AR glasses, but those are likely at least two years away. And without glasses, much of Meta’s work on AR is limited to in-app effects for Instagram and Facebook, which are popular but definitely not part of any kind of metaverse. And it’s still not at all clear that Meta has a plan for integrating its existing social platforms into the metaverse. In a recent interview with Protocol, Zuckerberg suggested the company was thinking about it, but stopped short of giving any kind of idea as to how this may work. “For Horizon, making it so that you can create a world and share it on Facebook or Instagram, and people can just jump into it from there — that’s going to be pretty valuable,” he said. But, he added, “we need to be careful about not making it primarily a mobile experience.” The reason, he said, is because he wants the metaverse to be about new platforms and technologies, not simply an extension of the mobile products that already exist. But the fact is the market for VR headsets is still tiny compared with the number of people who use Facebook and Instagram. And if he wants more of them onboard, they should be able to experience the metaverse in some form with the devices they already own.

James Bond: The Best Action Scenes From The Franchise Ranked MovieWeb
James Bond: The Best Action Scenes From The Franchise Ranked MovieWeb
James Bond: The Best Action Scenes From The Franchise, Ranked – MovieWeb https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/james-bond-the-best-action-scenes-from-the-franchise-ranked-movieweb/ The James Bond films are known for many things: exotic locales, beautiful women, awesome gadgets, and memorable villains. For a long time, if you wanted a peak spectacle, you went to a James Bond movie. From car chases, ski chases, boat chases, or any kind of chase, the films have provided ample amounts of jaw-dropping action scenes. But which action scenes from the franchise are the best? Which ones have either the best fighting choreography or are shot so wonderfully that we’ll never forget them? Well, here are some of the best ones. 6/6 Bond vs Patrice – Skyfall (2012) Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing This one makes the list solely for Roger Deakins’ mindblowingly fantastic cinematography. Seriously, how the hell did he lose the Oscar for this? The sequence is set in Shanghai, where Bond has tracked the assassin Patrice. After seeing him assassinate a man viewing a painting from a building away, Bond’s cover is blown when Patrice spots his reflection in glass and the fight is on. There’s a few quick cuts, but most of the fight is one continuous shot, with both fighters appearing completely in black, almost impossible to tell who is who. Add some bright blue lights in the background, and you get a fight scene where every frame is a painting. The fight itself isn’t too long, but who cares when it looks this incredible? 5/6 Bond and Paloma Team Up – No Time To Die (2021) Sony No Time To Die has some very big problems, but luckily, its action sequences aren’t one of them. The pre-credits sequence with the Aston Martin is great, and the fight in the Norway forest is wonderfully tense, but there’s a very good reason the one scene in the movie everyone can agree is amazing is Bond and Paloma teaming up to kick some butt in Santiago, Cuba. Bond is trying to capture a scientist named Valdo Obruchev at a Spectre party. However, chaos breaks out, and the nanobots released in the party kill all of Spectre instead of 007. Bond gets a few bad guys here and there, but all the best moments go to Paloma. Whether she’s wielding pistols, machine guns, or kicking people, she looks incredible doing it, and not just because she’s in one of the most beautiful gowns any Bond girl has ever worn. The cherry on top is Bond and Paloma making drinks in the middle of the fight, then going right back to the action. Can’t get more Bond-like than that. 4/6 Midair Fight – Moonraker (1979) Distributed by United Artists It took eighty-eight jumps and almost five weeks to film this sequence. The result? One of the best action scenes in the franchise. This fight happens in the pre-credits, with Bond flying back to England when both pilot and stewardess jump out of the plane, leaving Bond without a parachute. Bond jumps out, catches up with the pilot, steals his parachute, but who comes parachuting after him? Why, Jaws, of course! Bond bests the hulking henchman, who crash lands on top of a circus tent. Admittedly, the ending is a little goofy with Jaws flapping his arms, but everything else about the sequence is phenomenal. It still holds up to this day, too. It truly is one of the most impressive midair fights ever filmed. 3/6 Kobe Docks Chase – You Only Live Twice (1967) Distributed by United Artists Sean Connery’s fifth film takes place entirely in Japan. He and his ally, Aki, travel to Kobe to shadow a tanker named the Ning-Po, which has somehow dropped off cargo between Japan and China despite never docking anywhere along the way. Scores of henchman discover our heroes and the chase is on. There is so much coming together so wonderfully in this sequence, especially John Barry’s score, which times perfectly with gunfire or Bond evading a bad guy. The highlight of the sequence is without a doubt Bond running on the rooftop of a building as henchmen pop out every door trying to chase him down. The camera panning back to show just how big the roof is and how many baddies Bond’s up against, all punctuated by the music of Nancy Sinatra’s wonderful title song, really helps elevate the whole chase. Admittedly, it ends with a henchman knocking Bond out from behind, but that’s really par for the course for him, if we’re being completely honest. 2/6 Train Fight – From Russia With Love (1963) Distributed by United Artists Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy, Goldeneye, Skyfall, Spectre. What do they all have in common? They all had fights on a train. However, not one of those train fights can outdo the very first time Bond duked it out with someone on a train in From Russia With Love. In this case, Bond’s opponent is Red Grant, one of the best henchmen the franchise has ever seen. The train in question is the Orient Express, which as any Agatha Christie fan can tell you, has seen some murder in its day. The fight begins when Grant tries to open Bond’s briefcase, unaware that it releases tear gas when opened like a normal one. That gives Bond the opening he needs to get Grant’s gun away from him. What follows is a very up-close, in-your-face fight. Having it set in a train compartment really limits the space to move around, allowing for a very vicious duel that ends with Bond stabbing Grant in the arm and strangling him with his own garrotte watch. Brutal? Yes. One of the best fight scenes in the franchise? Also yes. 1/6 Parkour Chase – Casino Royale (2006) Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing How do you make a parkour chase look good? Well… it helps when the guy being chased is played by Sebastien Foucan, one of the founding fathers of parkour. The sequence is set in Madagascar, with Bond pursuing a bomb maker through a constriction site, then an embassy. Every second of this chase scene is incredible and honestly, it’s one of the best action scenes ever filmed. Not only that, but we get some character development for Bond in it, too. Our bomb maker moves with the grace of a ballerina as he dodges everything to escape from Bond. Bond literally punches through drywall to get to him, heavily emphasizing the “Bond is blunt instrument” theme the movie is going for. It’s a flawless sequence and truly the best action scene in the entire franchise.

Bitcoin Price Prediction – Max Pain Is Sideways Chop Until 2024 – Bluntz – Cryptonews https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/bitcoin-price-prediction-max-pain-is-sideways-chop-until-2024-bluntz-cryptonews/ Crypto analyst Bluntz (@SmartContracter) predicted Bitcoin will trade sideways in a range bound environment for 12 more months – so far, he’s been accurate. He posted the tweet below on August 29th, and six weeks on Bitcoin is still trading sideways between approximately $17,500, the 2022 yearly low, and the range high at around $25,000. Bluntz’ Bitcoin Price Prediction His max pain scenario for Bitcoin would take until late 2023 to play out – Bluntz marked out a possible 392 day trading range on the Bitcoin price chart. ‘Max pain’ is a term applied to options trading, and also used colloquially in all types of crypto trading. It’s defined on Investopedia as the ‘price at which a stock (or cryptocurrency) would cause financial losses for the largest number of option holders – puts and calls – at expiration’. With the next Bitcoin halving set to take place around March 2024 – in 527 days – some predict it could also take until then for a significant bullish catalyst for the BTC price to come into play. Bluntz’ Bitcoin price prediction allows for a ‘sprinkle of capitulation’ – new lows being hit below $17,500 as some BTC holders become frustrated and sell their position (finding it too painful to hold) and longs are stopped out or liquidated. He also expects the current $25,000 range high to be swept ($25,211 on Binance against USDT). However both bulls and bears will be disappointed – as he isn’t expecting the most optimistic price targets to be hit in either direction, such as $30,000 to the upside or $10,000 to the downside. Bluntz has 211,000 followers and is widely regarded as one of the best crypto analysts to follow on Twitter. His pinned tweet is one of the most famous Bitcoin price predictions among traders – his prediction of the 2018 bottom. Six months in advance, he predicted the bear market bottom would be ‘$3.2k with a $200 leeway either side’, and in December of that year Bitcoin bottomed out at $3,156. Bitcoin Alternatives One option for investors not wanting to sit on their hands for another 12 – 18 months for the current sideways range to resolve to the upside, is to invest in a new token presale. We recently reviewed IMPT token, which is currently on the first stage of its presale and has raised approximately $3 million. Visit IMPT.io

Trust In US Government’s Ability To Handle International Problems Rebounds: Gallup – The Hill https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/trust-in-us-governments-ability-to-handle-international-problems-rebounds-gallup-the-hill/ AP/Patrick Semansky Sun shines on the U.S. Capitol dome in Washington, Friday, Aug. 12, 2022. A divided Congress gave final approval Friday to Democrats’ flagship climate and health care bill. The House used a party-line 220-207 vote to pass the legislation. (AP Photo/Patrick Semansky) Trust in the U.S. government’s ability to handle international problems has bounced back from record lows last year, a new Gallup poll shows.  The poll found that 45 percent of U.S. adults have a “fair amount” or “great deal” of confidence to handle the matters of international importance, up from a record low of 39 percent last year.  The share of Americans who expressed a “great deal” of confidence climbed from 8 percent last year to 11 percent this year, and share of Americans who said they had no confidence at all fell from 25 percent last year to 20 percent this year.   The confidence rate is a surge back from last year, but still hasn’t caught back up to the 48 percent recorded in 2020.   Results have varied with just under or just over half of respondents reporting a fair amount or great deal of confidence in the last several years, but last year’s 39 percent is the lowest logged in similar surveys conducted since 1972.  By contrast, 40 percent of Americans said they had a great deal or fair amount of confidence in the government’s ability to handle domestic problems, a one-point improvement from last year. The poll notes that Americans’ confidence coincides with their party affiliation and the party of the people in power.  Democrats were more likely to express trust in the federal government’s issue-handling abilities as their party leader holds the White House, while Republican trust in the government fell off when President Biden was elected.   The Gallup poll was conducted Sept. 1-16 and surveyed 812 U.S. adults with a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.   Tags Biden federal government Gallup Poll trust in government

She will focus on programs that attract and provide career access to a wider segment of the population, including currently underrepresented and underserved populations as well as veterans and their families. “We are thrilled that Dr. Howze has agreed to join our team of national experts in the field of workforce development,” said Mike Russo, President and CEO of the NIIT. “Dr. Howze’s wealth of experience in talent pipeline development will be an asset to our mission of expanding education and training opportunities in critical sectors for the nation.” Dr. Howze spent much of her career leading efforts to expand apprenticeship and work-based learning at the local, state and national levels. Her extensive experience in apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship and youth apprenticeship programs includes developing a state tuition waiver program for community college youth that enter a registered apprenticeship while still in high school. She has taught in both the North Carolina and South Carolina community college systems for more than 20 years and is an assistant teaching professor at NC State University’s College of Education. Previously, Dr. Howze held roles at Red Hat, Siemens and Merck focused on workforce development. She began her career as a U.S. Army Officer and served for seven years on active duty and in the SC National Guard. “It is a pleasure to take on this new role at the National Institute for Innovation and Technology as we work with the public and private sectors to increase workforce preparedness in critical industries,” said Dr. Pam Howze. “I look forward to contributing to this goal and working alongside a passionate group of experts providing a real service to this country.” The TPDI is designed to support place-based economic development by creating regional “talent hubs” that integrate all aspects of training and education into what is a holistic approach to establish career pathways, improve access and increase opportunities in order to broaden the talent pipeline. The initiative leverages the NIIT’s National Talent Hub, the nation’s first integrated portal to support the expansion and development of the talent pipeline in tech-based job recruitment, as well as the NIIT’s innovative Registered Apprenticeship program, which is being scaled under an exclusive U.S. Department of Labor contract. About the NIIT The NIIT is a 501(c)(3) with a mission to identify roadblocks to innovation in strategic industry sectors – those important to the nation’s national security and global competitiveness – and ensure they are eliminated. Talent pipeline development is the major focus of the NIIT, and through comprehensive industry engagement, the NIIT is leading the development of a national strategy and infrastructure to broaden and build the talent pipeline for the semiconductor industry and strategic industry sectors in general. Through its National Talent Pipeline Development Initiative and the support of the federal government, the NIIT has developed a comprehensive, nationally integrated approach that includes the alignment of programs K-12 through higher education and adult and veteran training, infrastructure to attract a broader population and improve access and connections to career and needed training, and the ability to scale to support the nation. Jared Golden is, once again, in the political fight of his relatively short career. As one of seven House Democrats running for reelection who represent districts that former president Donald Trump carried in 2020, Golden is a prime target of Republicans who need to win this seat and others like it to take back the House. Golden’s campaign strategy is similar to how he operates in Washington: Portray himself as a fiercely independent lawmaker focused on his state’s needs while distancing himself from the national Democratic Party. In this vast, rural district that often shuns hardcore partisans and typically elects moderates, the strategy has worked for him in the past. In 2018, Golden defeated then-Rep. Bruce Poliquin (R), who’s challenging Golden again this year.  He won again in 2020 when the district voted for both Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Trump. But this time, Golden is being outspent by Poliquin, who is running a traditional Republican campaign focused on inflation, crime and the border, in a sprawling district where many voters learn about candidates through television ads. The race is as a test of how willing voters in a swing district are to support a Democrat — no matter how independent — when the party and its leaders are unpopular. On an unseasonably warm fall day in western Maine, Golden met with the founders of Operation Reboot at their rural hunting property. The organization hosts veterans struggling to readjust to a post-service life through nature, including hikes, hunts and fishing. The group’s mission hits close for Golden who was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder after tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. “I took a real interest in the issue of PTSD since I’ve been in elected office,” he said in an interview, adding that he first ran because Maine had zero beds for veterans with mental health and substance abuse issues despite 10 percent of the population being veterans. These are the type of campaign events Golden hopes will help him hang on to his seat as he tries to keep the focus on local issues and what he’s doing for the state instead of broader national debates. The Maine Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Golden. The National Rifle Association gave Poliquin a top grade but declined to endorse him, signifying their acceptance of Golden in that seat. Michael Edes, executive director of the Maine FOP, said in an interview that Golden is in constant communication with them. “Golden gives us a seat at the table. That’s all we ask for,” Edes said, adding that he has never heard from Poliquin, even when Poliquin was in Congress Golden, 40, born in Lewiston, Maine, flies under the radar in Washington, but is a constant source of consternation for Democrats. He snubbed leadership on high-profile bills, including voting against one of the two articles of impeachment against Trump in the first impeachment; the assault weapons ban; the $1.7 trillion Build Back Better plan (which never passed the Senate); and the $2 trillion covid-related American Rescue Plan (which did pass and was signed into law). He also criticized Biden’s plan to cancel student loan debt. He said Democratic leadership has stopped trying to whip him on votes and he ignores the advice of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  The only nationally known Democrat who’s campaigned for him is moderate Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin III (W.Va.), who did so virtually. Unlike many other Democrats, Golden is not running on abortion, even though he says he supports abortion rights and believes Mainers think it’s a privacy issue. But Golden has voted for many Democratic priorities, including the bills to codify Roe v. Wade and marriage equality. He also backed the infrastructure law, legislation to ramp up microchip manufacturing and Democrats’ climate change and health care bill, known as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).  The old district wants to be the new boss Poliquin characterizes Golden’s vote for the IRA as proof he is a puppet of the Democratic Party. “Jared Golden, Joe Biden and AOC and all the folks that are in charge, they have spent trillions and trillions of dollars that we don’t need to fund the government,” Poliquin said at an event on Friday in Lewiston, referring to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Poliquin appeared with Paul LePage, Maine’s former two-term Republican governor who’s also mounting a comeback run this year. “Bruce doesn’t have a lot of substance,” Golden shot back in response to Poliquin’s attacks in an interview. “Sometimes it’s kind of like debating one of those dolls that you pull the cord in the back. You pull it and it has four or five phrases just, like, on repeat.”  A spending disparity could be Golden’s biggest challenge, especially in the massive, rural district, which encompasses 80 percent of the state geographically. Poliquin and his Republican allies are outspending Golden and Democrats in the state, $17 million compared to $12 million, in media ad buys so far, according to advertising numbers from AdImpact. Golden’s allies are placing some of the blame for the disparity at the feet of the DCCC. “Just like in 2020, [the DCCC] made the map too big and they’re not doing enough to protect incumbents,” said a person close to the Golden campaign, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly. Other Democrats have expressed similar worries. Poliquin served in Congress from 2015 to 2019. His vote for the Republican tax bill in 2017 and its impact on Medicare is one of Golden’s key attacks in the state that has the oldest population in the country.. During his previous campaigns for reelection to Congress in 2016 and 2018, Poliquin refused to say if he voted for Trump and tried to distance himself from the then-president. This time, Poliquin doesn’t often talk about Trump on the stump but uses a “Maine first, America first” slogan.. He won’t say if the 2020 election was legitimate. And in responses to questions from The Early, he wouldn’t say if he’d vote to impeach Biden should Republicans control the House or if he’d vote for a national abortion ban. (He voted for a 20-week abortion ban when he was in Congress.) When asked if he’d support a bill to the Electoral Count Act co-authored by Collins, his fellow Maine Republican, he said he hadn’t read the bill. Like many rural regions, the district is economically stressed. Logging and paper mills were once robust, but they’ve hit hard times over the years. The Androscoggin Mill in the small town of Jay announced last month that it would close in the first part of next year, impacting nearly 200 people. Voters outside the Hannaford grocery store in Jay say they have a wide range of issues they are concerned about, including inflation and abortion. David Flagg, 57, lives on a $1,600-a-month fixed income from Social Security. He said his monthly grocery bill has risen from $175 to $300. “I just want it to go back to the way it was,” Flagg said. Native Mainer Karen Bor, who voted for Trump, said she is concerned about inflation. But she says the overturning of Roe v. Wade makes her angry.  “I like the fact that he crosses the line. He doesn’t just vote for what Biden says,” she said of Golden.  Ranked-choice voting could be a factor in the race’s outcome as it was in 2018, when Golden won after independent candidate Tiffany Bond’s votes were redistributed. Bond is on the ballot again this year. It’s the “deja vu election,” said Pat Callaghan, a longtime political reporter and anchor at News Center Maine. To hug or to distance: Trump-endorsed candidates recalibrate for the general election Isaac Arnsdorf on the trail with Trump: A pair of Trump rallies this weekend underscored the high-wire act that many Republican candidates are walking this midterm, hoping to harness the former president’s enduring pull with the Republican base without turning off independents and swing voters.  In Nevada and Arizona, Trump shared the stage with candidates who benefited from his endorsement in the primary but have since walked back their ties to him.  Joe Lombardo, the Clark County sheriff running for governor of Nevada, said at a debate last week that it “bothers” him that Trump insists the 2020 election was stolen and said he wouldn’t call Trump a great president. “I think he was a sound president,” he explained. At Saturday’s rally outside Reno, however, Lombardo repeatedly called Trump “the greatest president.” In Arizona, Senate candidate Blake Masters said at his own debate last week that the 2020 election wasn’t stolen and acknowledged Biden as the “legitimate president,” reversing himself on claims he made throughout the primary. Masters has also removed language falsely claiming fraud in 2020 election from his campaign website. Masters didn’t discuss the 2020 election in his speech at Sunday’s rally.  Trump, not known for being magnanimous when it comes to personal slights, let those transgressions go unremarked. Trump praised Lombardo as a friend he’s known for a long time who...

But Horford might not want to anyway given Noh sees the Florida product as the ninth-best swingman in the Association, checking ahead of names on the come-up like Scottie Barnes of the Toronto Raptors and Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers. “Horford looked like he might be close to done a few years ago, but he revitalized his career at age 35 with the Celtics,” writes the S/N analyst. “He’s an extremely high-feel defender, and he guards stars like Antetokounmpo as well as anyone else in the league.” Rep. Ayanna Pressley on Jaylen Brown’s leadership in Boston and beyond https://t.co/o9rZdhfgr6 — The Celtics Wire (@TheCelticsWire) October 9, 2022 “Horford has also become a good 3-point shooter in the back half of his career,” adds Noh. “He hit an absurd 48% of his 3-pointers in the 2022 NBA Playoffs and has canned 36% of his 3-point attempts for his career.” Listen to the “Celtics Lab” podcast on: Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3zBKQY6 Spotify: https://spoti.fi/3GfUPFi

Meta’s Horizon Worlds Metaverse App Is So Bad, It Has To ‘force Its Employees’ To Use It – Firstpost https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/metas-horizon-worlds-metaverse-app-is-so-bad-it-has-to-force-its-employees-to-use-it-firstpost/ FP StaffOct 10, 2022 16:23:41 IST Facebook, or as it is now known, Meta, was one of the first tech companies to go all in on the Metaverse. The concept of the Metaverse itself was somewhat made popular by Meta. The Metaverse was supposed to be the next phase of Facebook, the social media platform’s evolution. Unfortunately, it seems that Meta has squandered the opportunity of cashing in on Metaverse. Evidently, Meta’s Metaverse is so bad, that it has to force its employees to use it. One of the first public images from Meta’s Metaverse app called Horizon Worlds. Meta says the human figure is of Mark Zuckerberg. Image Credit: Meta Meta’s version of the Metaverse can be accessed through an app called Horizon Worlds. All you need to do, is put on a virtual reality headset like the Oculus Rift S and Meta Quest 2, log in and, and you’re good to go. But so jarring has been the experience that not even Meta’s employees are using the app regularly. An internal memo from Meta has leaked online, which says that the company would “hold managers accountable” for their teams using it. One of the biggest challenges for Meta has been getting people to buy the VR headsets that they need to get into and interact with the Metaverse. It is currently available through the company’s Oculus Rift S and Meta Quest 2 VR headsets, and will be available on the upcoming Meta Quest Pro VR/AR headset, which is expected to have a similar spec to the long-awaited Apple Headset. A major part of Meta’s vision for Horizon Worlds is that it will be used by businesses as well as consumers. However, given that even the engineers at Meta who helped develop Horizon Worlds aren’t spending as much time as the company would like them to. In a number of leaked memos which are being attributed to Vishal Shah, Meta’s lead for Metverse operations states that employees at Meta aren’t using the new App and the VR system to log into Horizon Worlds. A September 15 Memo reads: “For many of us, we don’t spend that much time in Horizon and our dogfooding dashboards show this pretty clearly…Why is that? Why don’t we love the product we’ve built so much that we use it all the time? The simple truth is, if we don’t love it, how can we expect our users to love it?” Another memo from Shah, just 15 days later, dated September 30 reads:  “Employees still aren’t using Horizon enough…hold managers accountable for having their teams use Horizon at least once a week. Everyone in this organization should make it their mission to fall in love with Horizon Worlds. You can’t do that without using it. Get in there. Organize times to do it with your colleagues or friends, in both internal builds but also the public build so you can interact with our community.” People outside of Meta who have experienced Horizon Worlds have reported that the app is buggy, jittery, and has some stability issues. Furthermore, the onboarding experience is confusing and frustrating for users. There are issues that Shah and the Meta team are fully aware of, and are trying to resolve. Crypto Chart Patterns Explained: How To Read Bitcoin Charts Cryptonews
Crypto Chart Patterns Explained: How To Read Bitcoin Charts Cryptonews
Crypto Chart Patterns Explained: How To Read Bitcoin Charts – Cryptonews https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/crypto-chart-patterns-explained-how-to-read-bitcoin-charts-cryptonews/ You may have come across terms thrown about in the crypto space, such as “head and shoulders,” “rising wedges,” and “cup and handle.” These are used by traders when analyzing crypto chart patterns. In this guide, we will explain how to read bitcoin charts and highlight popular crypto chart patterns you should know. What is Chart Analysis?  To determine whether to take a long or short position when trading bitcoin, you can use charts that provide you with timely insights. Technical analysis can help traders to assess price trends and crypto chart patterns to spot trading opportunities.  Technical analysis involves the analysis of past trading activity and price fluctuations of an asset, which can help to predict future price movements to some degree. Technical analysis uses patterns in price information to identify trends and make predictions.  Bitcoin chart analysis is important in the sense that traders can interpret charts to better understand herd mentality. Bullish and bearish trends are part of a general market symphony of rising and falling prices.  In other words, a steady increase in the price of a digital asset is often an indicator of optimism and excitement in the market. The reverse is also true. A crypto asset with a downward trajectory reflects a gloomy market outlook and puts pressure on sellers.  Both bullish and bearish trends can only be reversed if there is a change in attitude for market participants. Having said that, bitcoin chart analysis relies on mathematical and statistical modeling to understand price and market behavior. Three main principles apply to bitcoin chart principles: History is repetitive Price momentum is a trend The market discounts everything Applying these tenets, you can easily draw on several influences, including behavioral and traditional economic principles, to predict market movements.  Remember, technical analysis not only focuses on price movements but gives clues about market sentiment. To use the crypto chart analysis methodology, you have to take into consideration factors like historical crypto demand trends, global regulatory trends, and recent trends in the crypto community. How to Read Crypto Charts Reading crypto charts is essential to anyone looking to trade digital assets. If you want to assess price trends from a crypto chart, you will have to learn about the different types of charts. There are three common types of charts used by traders; line charts, bar charts, and candlestick charts. Line Chart A line chart or a graph chart is a visual representation of a digital asset’s price history using a single, continuous line. A line chart displays data a series of data points connected by straight line segments. A line chart is the most basic type of crypto chart and typically only plots the closing prices. In the chart above, the horizontal axis is the time scale, and the vertical axis denotes the price. You can work out the crypto price by connecting a data point to the horizontal axis in a straight line and the date by connecting a data point to the vertical axis. Each point in the graph tracks the daily closing price. Bar Chart A bar chart consists of several price bars, with each bar representing the price performance over a specific period. A bar chart visually depicts the price fluctuations of an asset during a specified time frame. In the chart above, the vertical line on the price bar depicts the high and low prices for that period. The horizontal lines on either side represent the open and closing prices.  Candlestick Charts The most popular crypto chart out there is a candlestick chart. A candlestick chart uses candles to depict crypto price uptrend/downtrend within a specified period. A candlestick consists of a body and a wick. The body of the candle represents the opening and closing prices, whereas the wick attached to the summit represents the highest price of the crypto within that time frame. The wick at the bottom represents the lowest price of the crypto asset within the selected time frame. The colors of the candle have significance. The red candle shows the price of an asset has fallen, while the green candle shows the price of an asset has risen. Popular Crypto Chart Patterns You Should Know About Crypto charts form different patterns that traders can use to take a position based on their significance. A chart pattern is a shape within a price chart that may indicate the next price movements based on historical trends. Crypto chart patterns are the basis of technical analysis and can help traders to predict price trends. Crypto chart patterns can be classified into the following groups:  Continuation patterns provide continuation signals of the current trend. Bilateral patterns indicate high volatility and uncertainty in the market. Reversal patterns give reversal signals.  Here are five popular crypto chart trading patterns that will can you trade.  Head and Shoulders This is an advanced chart pattern that’s bullish and bearish, with a large peak in the middle and smaller peaks on both sides. It is characterized by a temporary high and low, followed by a bigger correction higher or lower, and follows the third move higher or lower that’s equal to the first move.  Triple and Double top and Bottom A double (or triple) top and bottom chart pattern happens when markets bounce off the same resistance or support level twice (or thrice) in succession. A bullish indicator is regarded as a double bottom, while a bearish trading signal is known as a double top. Both triple and double patterns usually indicate market sentiment has changed and prices are about to change direction.  Ascending and Descending Triangle Ascending and descending triangles are created with a horizontal trend line linking highs and lows and a second trend line connecting rising highs and declining lows. The resulting triangle will reach a decision point where the price will erupt or crash from the horizontal line in the direction of the sloped line. Cup and Handle A cup and handle is a bullish reversal pattern that mirrors a cup, with the cup being similar to a rounding bottom chart pattern, and the handle is similar to a wedge pattern. The right side of the pattern denotes a low trading volume that may last for a 7 – 65 week timeframe. Wedges Wedges are bullish and bearish reversal patterns that occur when trend lines converge. A rising wedge is a bearish signal, while a falling wedge is a bullish signal.

Strive Launches U.S. Semiconductor ETF (SHOC) Ahead Of Potential China-Taiwan Annexation Businesswire.com
Strive Launches U.S. Semiconductor ETF (SHOC) Ahead Of Potential China-Taiwan Annexation – Businesswire.com https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/strive-launches-u-s-semiconductor-etf-shoc-ahead-of-potential-china-taiwan-annexation-businesswire-com/ COLUMBUS, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Strive Asset Management (“Strive”) launches its third index fund today, the Strive U.S. Semiconductor ETF (NYSE: SHOC, expense ratio: 0.40%), offering investors the opportunity to gain broad exposure to the U.S. semiconductor sector amid escalating geopolitical risk in Taiwan, the nation responsible for manufacturing 60% of the world’s foundry semiconductors. Semiconductors are the essential computing hardware for mobile phones, computers, cars, and even refrigerators. Global Semiconductor demand is estimated to grow over 80% by 2030.1 Strive’s ETF launch comes at a time of unprecedented cross-Straits tension. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) appears very likely to select Xi Jinping for a third term as China’s leader, breaking the historical two-term chain of succession and making President Xi the longest-serving Chinese ruler since Mao Zedong. Strive believes this increases the risk that China will attempt to annex Taiwan in the near future, exacerbating global semiconductor supply shortages and increasing the risk of economic calamity in the U.S. and other countries. Strive anticipates that U.S. semiconductor stocks could potentially outperform the market if China were to annex Taiwan. Through SHOC, Strive mandates U.S. semiconductor companies to prepare for this scenario by increasing domestic production capabilities, providing long-term opportunity and potential growth in the industry. At launch, only 12% of the plant, property, and equipment (PPE) of the companies in the Strive U.S. Semiconductor ETF are exposed to China/Taiwan risk. Vivek Ramaswamy, Strive’s executive chairman and co-founder said, “Our global economy is dependent on access to Taiwanese-produced semiconductors, which may effectively go to zero if China escalates its political and military tactics against Taiwan. We think that U.S. semiconductor stocks offer a potential hedge against this risk, especially if U.S. semiconductor companies prepare themselves to fill the supply vacuum created by a potential blockade or invasion of Taiwan. We plan to deliver that message as a shareholder to these companies, unapologetically and without regard to Chinese business interests: unlike many of our larger competitors, Strive does not and will not operate an asset management business in China.” About SHOC: The Strive U.S. Semiconductor ETF (SHOC) seeks to track the total return performance, before fees and expenses, of the Solactive United States Semiconductor 30 Capped Index (the “Index”) composed of U.S.-listed equities in the semiconductor sector. The benchmark does not pursue any environmental, social, governance (ESG) objectives. Investors can learn more at www.strivefunds.com/SHOC. Apple’s IPhone 15 Might Make The Switch To USB-C: Report – The Indian Express https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/apples-iphone-15-might-make-the-switch-to-usb-c-report-the-indian-express/ The iPhone 15 will most probably support USB-C charging. (Image Source: Apple) Apple will be switching to USB-C as soon as 2023, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In the latest edition of the Power On newsletter, he suggests that the iPhone 15 will mark the transition to USB-C. Currently the iPhone and AirPods support the Lightning port at the bottom for charger and require their own cable.  Apple has switched to USB-C charging for some devices like the iPad Pro and MacBooks. While the European Union law will take effect two years from now, Gurman says that Apple is already shifting to make the switch to USB-C privately. The newsletter notes that publicly Apple is opposing the move stating that the “strict regulation mandating just one type of connector stifles innovation rather than encouraging it, which in turn will harm consumers in Europe and around the world.” Next year’s iPhone 15 will probably make the switch, and the only iPad that still uses the Lightning port will be upgraded to USB-C sometime later this year. This means that AirPods, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad will be the only Apple products left that will need to make the switch. The report goes on to say that in the coming years, Apple will be looking at wireless charging even on the iPhone and the iPad. Given that Apple watches are already compatible with wireless chargers, the move might be Apple’s effective workaround, assuming the technology matures in the coming years. © IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd First published on: 10-10-2022 at 04:30:15 pm

‘Love At First Sight’: Man Shares Incredible Tale Of Meeting Wife On Airbnb – Newsweek https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/love-at-first-sight-man-shares-incredible-tale-of-meeting-wife-on-airbnb-newsweek/ Finding the perfect apartment, hotel, or home to rent for a vacation or trip can be tricky, but one couple had a five-star experience when a woman rented a room on Airbnb. Jim Gonzales credits the popular vacation rental service with being the reason he met his wife, and in a viral post on LinkedIn that has seen thousands of reactions, he shared their heartwarming story. Online short-stay vacation let service Airbnb was founded in 2008. Today it has listings in over 220 regions and more than 6 million active listings in all corners of the globe. Gonzales was hosting a room in his parents’ house in San Diego. Described as a “clean minimalist room,” it attracted hundreds of guests and was frequently fully booked—it was only $39 a night after all. Jim Gonzales and Priscilla Nianhezi Liu, the couple who married after meeting for the first time thanks to vacation rental service Airbnb. The heartwarming story has gained viral attention online. Jim Gonzales But one guest was set to change everything. Recently graduated student Priscilla Nianhezi Liu was looking to give her parents a tour of California on a trip from China. When they booked the room for the night, Gonzales was close to declining the reservation because he had been so busy—but eventually accepted because he needed the money. But this one-night stay would, eventually, lead to a beautiful relationship and marriage. Gonzales told Newsweek: “I tease Priscilla that it was ‘love at first sight.’ Our first interaction was actually quite short. We talked a bit about traveling and I shared with her recommendations for activities to do in San Diego.” After Liu and her parents stayed in the room for one night, Gonzales sent a message a few days later to ask how the trip was going. “She didn’t message me back for a few days since there was no reception in Sequoia,” he explained: “She eventually replied, and the back-and-forth texts started to happen.” The pair exchanged messages about travel and food—something they are both passionate about. After texting daily for a few weeks, Gonzales gave Liu a call on her birthday. “It was always easy for me to talk with her and it never felt awkward over the phone,” he said. “Eventually, she told me she’d be moving to LA and we planned to meet.” Exactly a month after their first meeting, the pair had their first date. “Every time we went on a date, it felt like we had known each other much longer,” Gonzales said. A relationship quickly blossomed between the two, and three years later they booked an Airbnb together in New Orleans. “The plan was to go full circle,” said Gonzales. “I messaged her through the app, and told her my feelings, then went downstairs, got on one knee, and asked, ‘Will you travel the world with me and marry me?’ She said yes, and the rest is history.” The unusual love story has delighted LinkedIn users, with commenters writing that the meeting was “fate” and wishing the couple well. “I had no idea I’d meet my wife through Airbnb,” said Gonzales: “But I’m grateful I’ve met my soulmate in the most extraordinary way.”

Foam Rolling: What It Is And The Benefits Monitor
Foam Rolling: What It Is And The Benefits Monitor
Foam Rolling: What It Is And The Benefits – Monitor https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/foam-rolling-what-it-is-and-the-benefits-monitor/ When experiencing muscle tightness, chances are you will not want to work out at all. However, you do not have to lie in bed hoping that the muscles will get better. You can engage in foam rolling which is generally safe, more so if you work out regularly.  Augustine Kasujja, a fitness trainer, however, advises against rolling if you have a muscle tear.  “When your muscle is torn or broken, foam rolling will aggravate the pain. You must check in with the physiotherapist first. It is also important to avoid rolling over small joints. These include ankles, knees and elbows as rolling on them will cause harm. Rather, when rolling your hands, roll out the elbows first then the triceps and arms, steering clear of the elbows,” he advises. Monica Nakyejwe, a fitness coach adds that pregnant women can foam roll but must first check in with their gynaecologist.  Choosing a foam roller There are various foam rollers, in different firmness, shapes, sizes and foam density. However, all are cylindrical. Nakyejwe share some of the foam rollers available: When picking a foam roller, it may take some trying before you get one that suits your needs as each targets different needs. ● It could be a smooth roller which works well for beginners and the foam intensity in mild. It is also pocket friendly compared to the rest. ● Foam massage balls target particular muscles, mainly undoing muscle knots. ● Textured rollers bear knobs and ridges and help perform deep muscle massaging thus dealing away with tension and knob. ● Foam covered massage sticks work well for the upper back and legs performing deep muscle massage. ● Grid foam rollers are used by those accustomed to the workout with a textured surface thus able to deal with kinks and knots. ● Vibrating foam roller works well for deep tissue massage and has vibration technology. It does two things at the same time; relaxing tight muscles and minimises pain which shortens recovery than other rollers.  “However, you should never use a foam roller to the point of creating lasting pain. That way, it loses its purpose,” Nakyejwe says.   Additionally, consider the size and shape because the shorter the roller, the more effective it is for smaller body parts such arm and calves. “They are also portable, making working out anywhere possible,” she says. Benefits of foam rolling Apart from helping to release tight muscles and the pain therein, foam rolling is beneficial in many ways and these include: Relieve back pain: With the right foam roller, back pain is relived. In case one has lower back pain, Kasujja says they should work with their roller in a vertical manner.  “Then slowly, roll on the foam roller from side to side. As you roll, ensure that the foam roller is in line with your backbone. However, when used in a horizontal manner, the back will get strained,” he says. Better motion range: The foam roller relieves body stiffness.  “When foam rolling, the parasympathetic nervous system is signalled to allow relaxation. The parasympathetic nervous system is group of nerves that allows the body to relax after stressful moments such as fright. With relaxation, fibres easily elongate making it possible which betters how far the joints can move,” Nakyejwe says.  Reduce the brunt of fibromyalgia: According to a study: Benefits of a self-myofascial release programme on health-related quality of life in people with fibromyalgia: A randomised controlled trial, people who foam rolled felt better. After foam rolling, the depression, stiffness and pain that the fibromyalgia had caused to them reduced. Improves blood circulation: According to Kasujja, the muscles that will greatly benefit from foam rolling are those around tendons and ligaments.  “These, even in normal circumstance, have minimal blood flow. Blood carries oxygen, glucose which these muscles need to grow, repair and heal thus bettering functionality,” he says. Prepares you for workout: As one rolls up, there is friction between the body and the foam roller which creates heat.  “That allows for the muscles to warm up as well which prepares you for your workout. Adding foam rolling to your pre-exercise activities will help you reduce injuries. That is very crucial when coming out of a sedentary state,” Nakyejwe says.

Locals Compete At OVAC Cross Country Meet | News, Sports, Jobs – The Steubenville Herald-Star https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/locals-compete-at-ovac-cross-country-meet-news-sports-jobs-the-steubenville-herald-star/ ON THE COURSE — Weir High’s Josh Duffy competes during Saturday’s OVAC Cross Country Championships. — Seth Staskey CAMBRIDGE — The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference’s Cal Pokas Cross Country Championships might as well be renamed the ‘Morgantown Invitational.’ The schools within the city of Morgantown flexed their muscle once again at the annual conference championships held Saturday morning at Cambridge High School. The University boys won the overall title with 30 points, while the Morgantown girls claimed the female championship with 22 points. For good measure, the Trinity Christian girls captured the small-school division title to make it three championship trophies headed back to Motown. Despite those schools’ domination, several other schools put forth a strong showing, too. The other boys’ class champions were St. Clairsville (4A), Barnesville (3A) and Southern Local (1A/2A). The other girls class champions were St. Clairsville (4A) and Fort Frye (3A). University’s Ryan Blohm captured the overall individual title with a sizzling time of 15:34. He was 13 seconds ahead of teammate Drew Zundell. On the girls’ side, Claire von Boetticher made it a University sweep when she claimed the girls’ title with a blistering 18:23. She was 12 seconds better than Morgantown’s Sophie Renner. BOYS 5A While University put forth an impressive total, Wheeling Park, which has been impressive all fall, was a strong second with 53 points. The Patriots were led by Ben Ashmore, who placed third overall in 15:59.40. Actually, all seven of the Park runners earned All-OVAC. Jonah Nizami was sixth overall in 16:01, while Redick Moore was ninth in 16:10. Seth Franke posted an 11th place finish in 16:15 and Isaak Nizami, who was the last score toward Park’s 53 points, was 25th in 17:01. Austin Musilli (29th) and Brady Amico (30th) rounded out the all-conference runners. 4A St. Clairsville repeated as champions in its class and in the process won its 13th title in school history. All of those have come under head coach Tony Ciroli’s watch. The latest title was captured with 258 points, which was 222 points fewer than runner-up Cambridge. “All of our guys know how important the OVAC is,” Ciroli said. “I am not trying to downplay any of the invitationals or the smaller meets we go to, but those are places where we learn how to race, so we’re able to be prepared for the OVAC, district, regional and state. We knew we had to race and race hard and the kids really listened and executed the plan perfectly.” As has been the case all season, St. Clairsville was led by junior standout Ben Shields, who continues to turn in impressive efforts. Shields posted a 14th place overall finish to win the class title in the process with a solid time of 16:19. Other scorers for the Red Devils included Sawyer Bonnette (34th place), Caleb Bryniarski (66th), Blake Horan (93rd) and Evan Yost (115th). Other area All-OVAC performers in the class included Weir’s Josh Duffy (16:54), who placed 20th. Oak Glen’s Nick Gallo placed second in the class and 18th overall with a time of 16:46. 3A Barnesville has made winning OVAC cross country titles a rite of fall during the tenure of veteran head coach Mark Brown. Add another chapter to their history as the Shamrocks rang up 283 points, which was 65 points fewer than runner-up Bellaire. The win allowed the Shamrocks to go back-to-back and marked the fourth in school history on the boys side. “We’ve been saying ‘back-to-back’ all week leading up to the meet and actually it’s been our goal since August,” Brown said. “We consider (the OVAC) our biggest meet of the regular season and we’ll now work toward our main goal of qualifying to the regional. We’re extremely pleased with all of of our runners. Almost all of them ran their best races of the season.” The Shamrocks were led by All-OVAC performer Conner Starr. He was the first Shamrock to cross the line and he did so in 16:57 to garner 21st overall. Other Barnesville scorers included: Connor Warrington (65th place), Logan Dodd (75th), Braedon Willis (78th) and Vincent Phillips (116th). Magnolia’s Landon Davis, who was 28th in 17:04, was the only other runner in this class to earn All-OVAC. 1A/2A Southern Local — still a relative newcomer to the OVAC — claimed its first OVAC title in the sport with a total of 318 points. The Indians were 87 points better than runner-up Wheeling Central. The Maroon Knights, however, produced the individual champion in the class. Aiden Scott — the reigning small-school West Virginia state champion — broke 16 minutes by a tenth of a second en route to the class title and a fifth-place overall finish. He was the only runner from the smallest division to finish inside the top 30. GIRLS Class 5A Along with the city of Morgantown’s production, a handful of area runners earned All-OVAC distinction. Included are John Marshall’s Rilee Storm, who turned in a solid 11th place effort in a time of 20:06 and Sierra Taylor, who placed 22nd in 20:42. 4A St. Clairsville finished with a score of 297 despite producing nary an All-OVAC runner. The Red Devils’ total was just a point better than runner-up Edison. The championship is the third straight for St. Clairsville and its 11th in school history and breaks a tie with John Marshall for the most conference titles in girls CC of all time. “The girls ran well today,” Ciroli said. “The girls are really coming along and now we’ll shift focus to the OVCCL (next week) and then into the district the following week.” St. Clairsville’s five scorers in the meet were Luci Banks (33rd overall), Kendal Sall (56th), Rami Padilla (91st), Alaina Thornburg (96th) and Mattie Arbenz (106th). Other area runners on the All-OVAC listing from this class included: Edison’s Josie Lesnansky, who was the class champion with a time of 20:31, which allowed her to place 18th overall; Weir’s Naomi Young, who crossed in 25th with a time of 20:49; Oak Glen’s Hannah Kliner, who placed 26th in 20:49 and Union Local’s Faith Moore, who placed 27th in 20:53. 3A Fort Frye, which is a very youthful and talented squad, finished with 184 points to edge Barnesville by 33 points. The title is the fifth all time and second straight for the Cadets. Other area runners to earn All-OVAC in the class included: Barnesville’s Aubrey Johnson, who placed 23rd in 20:42 and Bellaire’s Bethany McElfresh, who placed 29th in 21:02. 1A/2A Shadyside, which was the only school other than Trinity to field a full girls’ team in the class, was led by the small-school champion in senior Kenzy Beckett, and she continued her impressive campaign by posting a 10th place finish in a time of 20:02. Four Gadgets And Appliances That Stop You From Turning On The Heating Yet And Save You Money… – The Sun https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/four-gadgets-and-appliances-that-stop-you-from-turning-on-the-heating-yet-and-save-you-money-the-sun/ If you click on a link in this article, we may earn affiliate revenue IT may be tempting to turn on the heating as the temperature drops, but there are plenty of ways to stay warm without. In fact, gadgets and appliances such as electric blankets may save you cash as energy bills soar. 5 There are ways to stay warm without turning on the heating just yet On October 1, the average household bill rose from £1,971 a year to £2,500 under the government’s energy price guarantee. The support caps the cost per unit households pay, so your actual bill could be more or less than £2,500. How much you pay will depend on how much energy you use. If you’re struggling to go without heating, we’ve rounded up the items to reach for first, assuming you’ve already layered up. It could come in handy as reducing the thermostat by just one degree can save you £100 a year on your bill. Before you buy any, make sure to factor in the cost of the items. You should always shop around in case you can find a better deal elsewhere. You’ll also need to factor in any delivery costs if you order online. 1. Hot water bottles – from £3.50 5 These hot water bottles are available at The Range for just £3.50 eachCredit: The Range Hot water bottles are pretty self-explanatory, but for those who are unfamiliar, you simply fill the rubber bottle with warm water and hold it. Plenty of retailers sell them, and you don’t need to spend a lot either. For example, The Range is selling a double-ribbed version for just £3.49, while Dunelm charges £6 for one with a fleece cover. It’s not advisable to put boiling water into a hot water bottle, as this can corrode the rubber and cause leaks. However, you can put nearly boiling water in there – so simply fill the kettle up and leave it to cool slightly before transferring the liquid. As of October, it costs 9p to run your kettle for five minutes. If you do that once a day for your hot water bottle, for the four coldest months of the year, that’s just 81.9p in total. 2. Electric blankets – from £22 5 You may want to consider warming up your bed before you get into it with an electric blanketCredit: Dunelm If a hot water bottle doesn’t cut it, you may want to consider snapping up an electric blanket instead. Most people use them under their sheets to heat their bed before they get in it. Dunelm is selling one version starting at £22 for a single, while Studio charges £28 for a Silentnight version. Based on the new price cap on October 1, it now typically costs 24p to run an electric blanket for one hour a day for seven days. If you use it for an hour per night for the coldest four months of the year, that’s 91 nights and a total cost of £3.13. 3. Other heated wearables – from £6 5 Amazon is selling reusable hand warmers for just £6 per two-packCredit: Amazon There is plenty of other wearable tech to help you stay warm this winter. For example, you can get an oversized heated hoodie for £27 at the Onlinehomeshop, or for £29.99 on Amazon. If you struggle with blood circulation in your hands or feet, Boots is selling USB-powered foot warmers for £20, while Amazon shoppers can get two reusable hand warmers for £5.99. Using reusable hand warmers will cost you less than 1p per hour to run, according to MoneySavingExpert. 4. Heaters – from £23 5 An electric heater can help you heat up individual roomsCredit: Screwfix Last but not least, you may want to consider buying an electric heater. An electric heater is a plug-in device that works as electricity is passed through a resistor and converted into heat. You can get fairly cheap options, such as one at Screwfix for just £22.99 or a two-in-one cooler and heater for £32.99 at Currys. However, it’s important to note that these will typically cost you more – both to buy and the running costs – than the above gadgets. Based on the energy price cap from October 1, an electric heater will typically cost £1.08 to run per hour. If you leave it on for four hours a day, every day of the week, that’s £30.24 a week. Of course, this is the maximum you would pay per kilowatt of energy, and you’re unlikely to use an electric heater all throughout the year.

North Korea ‘Funding Weapons Programs’ With Vast Cache Of ‘Stolen Crypto’ – Cryptonews https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/north-korea-funding-weapons-programs-with-vast-cache-of-stolen-crypto-cryptonews/ Source: Creativa Images/Adobe International investigators claim that North Korea stole “hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cryptoassets” to pay for its nuclear weapons programs” – while a row has broken out in South Korean political circles over politicians’ alleged ties to the crypto developer Virgil Griffith. The development comes as Pyongyang claimed that recent missile launches were a “simulation” for nuclear attacks on South Korea. The North is set to conduct its first nuclear weapons test for five years in the coming days, per South Korean-United States intelligence reports. And all this – Seoul and Washington say – is being funded, at least in large part, by stolen crypto. Per Yonhap, the UN Security Council’s North Korea Sanctions Committee has blamed North Korean hacking groups such as Lazarus for both the Ronin Bridge and the Harmony hacks. The committee claimed that the hacks had been directly authorized by Pyongyang’s General Bureau of Reconnaissance. The committee added that North Korean hackers, including Lazarus members, had “used social engineering hacking methods” to infiltrate systems and had preyed on individuals in a bid to force a way in behind the bridges’ defenses. The committee further claimed that the BlueNoroff hacking group – blamed by Western powers for the 2016 attack on Bangladesh’s Central Bank – had now been repurposed by the General Bureau of Reconnaissance to focus solely on stealing crypto. And the committee claimed that while it could not be certain if BlueNoroff had, like Lazarus, “succeeded in generating illegal revenue for North Korea,” it claimed that it was likely that “these types of operations” were “likely to continue” in the future. North Korea’s ‘Stolen’ Crypto Sparks Political Discord Per Digital Today, the issue of the North and its alleged cryptoasset-related operations is in danger of creating an ugly political spat between the Democratic Party – the largest party in the National Assembly – and the People’s Power Party, which has control over the executive. A Democrat MP has claimed that the Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon visited the United States District Prosecutor’s Office for the Southern District of New York in July this year to investigate possible links between Democrats and the Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith. The developer was jailed for five years for attempting to help Pyongyang evade sanctions using cryptoassets. Some Democrats claim that People’s Power Party officials are trying to engineer a connection between Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party Chairman, and Griffith. Per court documents, Griffith appears to have had a contact in South Korea. Politicians have claimed that this contact may have been linked somehow to Lee and Park Won-soon – a leading Democratic Party member and the former Mayor of Seoul. Park committed suicide on June 9, 2020. Allegedly, documents indicate that both Lee and Park were “very interested in creating an Ethereum server research center in North Korea.” Han did not address the accusation directly when questioned on the matter, stating it was “right to cooperate with the United States” on crypto-related matters, but claimed he was not at liberty to “reveal specific details” on the nature of his visit to the United States.

China Tech Shares Sink As U.S. Export Curbs Raise Chip Sector Hurdles – Reuters https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/china-tech-shares-sink-as-u-s-export-curbs-raise-chip-sector-hurdles-reuters/ By Josh Horwitz and Jason Xue SHANGHAI, Oct 10 (Reuters) – Shares in Chinese tech giants Alibaba Group (9988.HK) and Tencent (0700.HK) as well as in chipmakers slumped on Monday, as investors were spooked by new U.S. export control measures aimed at slowing Beijing’s technological and military advances. The Biden administration published a sweeping set of export controls on Friday, including a measure to cut China off from certain semiconductors made anywhere in the world with U.S. equipment. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com The raft of measures, some of which take immediate effect, could amount to the biggest shift in U.S. policy toward exporting technology to China since the 1990s. Experts said the new rules will have a broad impact, slowing China’s efforts to develop its own chip industry and advance commercial and state research involving military weapons, artificial intelligence, data centres and many other areas that are powered by supercomputers and high-end chips. The new controls also come at a time when the global chip industry is already facing major headwinds from tumbling demand post-COVID in computers, smartphones and other electronic devices and has warned of weak revenue. The most immediate impact is likely to be felt by Chinese chipmakers, they said. Under the new regulations, U.S. companies must cease supplying Chinese chipmakers with equipment that can produce relatively advanced chips – logic chips under 16 nanometers (nm), DRAM chips below 18 nm, and NAND chips with 28 layers or more – unless they first obtain a license. That’s set to affect China’s top contract chipmakers – Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) (0981.HK) and Hua Hong Semiconductor Ltd (1347.HK) – as well as state-backed leading memory chipmakers Yangtze Memory Technologies Co Ltd (YMTC) and Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT). “The measures will hobble the Chinese chip sector and will scupper numerous growth plans and potentially set back innovation in both the East and the West,” said Danni Hewson, an analyst at AJ Bell. “There will be plenty of boardrooms hosting top level meetings over the next few days considering the implications of U.S. export controls.” Chinese foundries have a fraction of the global contract chip market, which is dominated by Taiwan’s TSMC (2330.TW), but they control about 70% of the domestic market, underscoring Beijing’s efforts to boost self-sufficiency in chips. In memory chips, industry watchers have pegged YMTC and CXMT as China’s best hopes for breaking into the global market, going neck and neck with top players such as Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and Micron Technology (MU.O). The new regulations will now pose major hurdles for the two Chinese memory chipmakers, analysts said. “The advancement of memory will be limited as there is no opportunity to upgrade process equipment, no opportunity to expand production, and the market will be lost,” Gu Wenjun, who leads research at Shanghai-based consultancy ICWise, wrote in a research note. The blocking of equipment supplies for high-end chip production could also have a cascading impact on simpler chips, analysts said. Stewart Randall, who tracks China’s semiconductor sector at Shanghai-based consultancy Intralink, said that for NAND chips, the same equipment used to produce 128-layer NAND can also produce simpler 64-layer NAND. China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning on Saturday called the move an abuse of trade measures designed to reinforce the United States’ “technological hegemony”. U.S. toolmakers now required to halt shipments to wholly Chinese-owned factories producing advanced logic chips include KLA Corp (KLAC.O), Lam Research Corp (LRCX.O) and Applied Materials Inc (AMAT.O). In advanced AI chips, Nvidia Corp (NVDA.O) and Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD.O) are among the major vendors supplying to China. “This could hardly come at a worse time for Nvidia given that it’s already faced a highly challenging period due to supply chain snarl-ups and slowing demand for gaming consoles,” said Susannah Streeter, an analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown. SUPERCOMPUTERS, DATA CENTERS The rules also include blocking shipments of a broad array of chips for use in Chinese supercomputing systems which can be used to develop nuclear weapons and other military technologies. Some industry experts say the ban could also hit commercial data centres at Chinese tech giants. Shares in e-commerce company Alibaba and social media and gaming company Tencent, both of which rely on data centres extensively, dropped 3.5% and 2.8%, respectively, at 0805 GMT. A steep decline in tech shares led China’s market down on its first post-Golden Week holiday trading on Monday. An index measuring China’s semiconductor firms (.CSIH30184) tumbled nearly 7%, and Shanghai’s tech-focused board STAR Market (.STAR50) declined 4.5%. SMIC dropped 4.4%, chip equipment maker NAURA Technology Group Co (002371.SZ) sank 10% by the daily limit, and Hua Hong Semiconductor plunged 9.5%. Shares in AI research firm Sensetime (0020.HK) and surveillance equipment maker Dahua Technology (002236.SZ), which will be cut off from chips made using U.S. technologies, tumbled 5.6% and 10%, respectively. The impact on tech shares outside of China was limited on Monday as financial markets in South Korea, Japan and Taiwan were closed for separate holidays. Analysts expect the impact on TSMC, the world’s top contract chipmaker, to be limited as most of its advanced chip orders comes from U.S.-based customers such as Apple (AAPL.O) and Qualcomm (QCOM.O), although it generates around 10-12% of its revenue from China. South Korea on Saturday also expected no significant disruption to equipment supply for Samsung and SK Hynix’s (000660.KS) existing chip production in China. Chinese Regulator Gives Greenlight To Fund Targeting Korean Chipmakers – U.S. News & World Report https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/chinese-regulator-gives-greenlight-to-fund-targeting-korean-chipmakers-u-s-news-world-report/ SHANGHAI (Reuters) – China’s securities regulator has given the greenlight to the country’s first mutual fund targeting top Chinese and South Korean chipmakers, an official at Huatai-PineBridge Fund Management Co said, amid an escalating Sino-U.S. tech war. The China Securities Regulatory Commission’s approval comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions between the world’s two largest economies. The Biden administration published a sweeping set of export controls on Friday, seeking to hobble China’s chip industry. Huatai-PineBridge made the application for regulatory approval on Aug. 9. The exchange-traded fund (ETF) will invest in top Korean semiconductor firms including Samsung Electronics Co and SK Hynix Inc, as well as Chinese chipmaking giants such as Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp and Montage Technology Co. “The Chinese and Korean semiconductor industries are expected to be closely integrated,” creating synergies, Huatai-PineBridge said in prepared marketing material for the ETF, whose launch date has not yet been determined. The fund will also benefit from China’s accelerated pace towards tech self-sufficiency amid U.S. sanctions, according to the marketing material, which mentioned the U.S. blacklisting of China’s Huawei Technologies Co Ltd, and the recently enacted CHIPS and Science Act. In 2021, South Korea was China’s second-biggest exporting country in equipments, including chipmaking tools, and Chinese exports to South Korea have also been rising, the fund manager said. South Korea said on Saturday there would be no significant disruption to equipment supply for Samsung and SK Hynix’s existing chip production in China from the U.S. move. The new U.S. export controls are an abuse of trade measures, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Saturday. The newly approved ETF will track the CSI KRX China-Korea Semiconductor Index. The index was launched as part of a broader cooperation agreement signed last year between the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Korean Exchange (KRX) to promote cross-border investment between the two markets. Nevada Senate Race Tests Potency Of Abortion Focus For Dems The Washington Post
Nevada Senate Race Tests Potency Of Abortion Focus For Dems The Washington Post
Nevada Senate Race Tests Potency Of Abortion Focus For Dems – The Washington Post https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/nevada-senate-race-tests-potency-of-abortion-focus-for-dems-the-washington-post/ LAS VEGAS — Democrats predicted abortion would be Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto’s saving grace. But inside Nevada’s crowded union halls, across its sun-scorched desert towns and on the buzzing Las Vegas strip, there are signs that outrage over the Supreme Court’s decision to dismantle abortion rights may not be enough to overcome intensifying economic concerns. That’s leaving Cortez Masto as the Senate’s most vulnerable Democrat in the final month of a volatile midterm election year. Her predicament is the starkest example of the challenge facing Democrats nationwide as they try to capitalize on anger over the abortion ruling while Republicans focus on crime and stubborn inflation. If Cortez Masto can’t turn things around, the GOP would be well on its way to netting the one seat they need to retake the Senate and blunt the final two years of President Joe Biden’s term. In an interview, Cortez Masto sidestepped questions about her fragile political standing. She acknowledged “there’s more work to be done” on the economy in a working-class state in which gasoline remains over $5.40 per gallon, the unemployment rate is higher than the national average and spending at casinos has not kept pace with inflation. “I know our families, the issues that are important to them are the kitchen-table issues,” she said, citing the recent passage by the Democratic-controlled Congress of the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, which lowered the cost of some prescription drugs and expanded health care coverage, among other Democratic priorities. “But I also know, talking with our families, the repeal of Roe v. Wade is having an impact,” she said. “We’re a pro-choice state, proudly. That’s why so many are outraged by the repeal.” Democrats insist that Nevada remains a purple state, despite being led by a Democratic governor, two Democratic senators and a Democratic-controlled state legislature. Former President Donald Trump lost the state by less than 34,000 votes in 2020. And on Nov. 8, polls suggest, the GOP could take over several statewide offices. Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville fears his party’s hyper-focus on abortion isn’t working. “A lot of these consultants think if all we do is run abortion spots that will win for us. I don’t think so,” said Carville, a vocal Cortez Masto ally who has sent dozens of fundraising emails on her behalf. “It’s a good issue. But if you just sit there and they’re pummeling you on crime and pummeling you on the cost of living, you’ve got to be more aggressive than just yelling abortion every other word.” Cortez Masto is facing Republican Adam Laxalt, a former state attorney general, failed 2018 gubernatorial candidate and the grandson of a former Nevada governor and U.S. senator. The 44-year-old Republican has avoided talking about his opposition to abortion in the election’s final weeks as his campaign works to avoid unscripted moments. Laxalt’s campaign refused to make him available for this story. And he has declined to participate in any of the state’s traditional debates, although he called unsuccessfully for Cortez Masto to agree to at least two other meetings. Late last week, organizers canceled what would have been the only debate broadcast in Spanish because of Laxalt’s refusal to attend. Laxalt instead spent his weekend campaigning with Trump, whom Laxalt has leaned on to revitalize his political career. Laxalt co-chaired Trump’s state campaign in 2020 and spearheaded legal challenges to the vote-counting process. Earlier in the year, he began raising fears of voter fraud in the 2022 midterms as well. With polls now showing he could defeat Cortez Masto, Laxalt avoided the topic of election fraud as he addressed thousands of Trump supporters gathered Saturday on the edge of a desert air field. Speaking an hour before Trump called 2020 “a fake and dirty and rigged election” on the same stage, Laxalt focused on the state’s economic woes and Cortez Masto’s support for Biden. “She won’t mention the two words: ‘Joe Biden.’ Will Joe Biden come to Nevada anytime soon? I’m still waiting for that invite,” Laxalt snickered, speaking from a podium emblazoned with Trump’s name. In the interview, Cortez Masto did not say whether she wanted the Democratic president to visit the state on her behalf. “The president is always welcome in the state of Nevada. But really, my goal here is to make sure I’m addressing the needs of Nevadans,” she said, adding that she wasn’t surprised Trump was in the state campaigning for Laxalt. Laxalt “was the face of the big lie for President Trump in the state,” Cortez Masto said. “In my view, he stands with the insurrectionists and not the people of Nevada.” Vulnerable Democratic senators in Arizona, Georgia and New Hampshire are also fighting to overcome Biden’s weak standing, which is roughly equal to Trump’s in the 2018 midterms when the GOP lost 40 House seats. The party that occupies the White House almost always suffers major losses in a president’s first midterm election. But there are reasons to believe that Cortez Masto’s situation is more dire than those of her colleagues elsewhere. Nevada’s electorate is overwhelmingly working-class compared to voters in other battleground states, leaving the state’s 3 million residents more vulnerable to economic setbacks. Just 25.5% of the state graduated from college, compared to 35% nationally, according to the Census Bureau. Nevada has among the highest gasoline prices in the country at an average of $5.44, almost 40% higher than the U.S. average, according to AAA. Higher gas prices have also translated into fewer drivers crossing into Nevada from California to go to Las Vegas. Nor has gaming revenue kept pace with annual inflation. Gaming revenue in Clark County, home to Las Vegas, rose just 2.9% in August from a year ago. Gas prices may get worse before they get better. The Biden administration suffered a stinging setback last week when OPEC oil producers announced a major production cut. At the same time, Laxalt has avoided some of the pitfalls that have undermined high-profile GOP Senate candidates in other key states. In New Hampshire, Republican groups canceled millions of dollars in television ad reservations designed to benefit GOP nominee Don Bolduc in recent days, reflecting a growing sense that Bolduc’s hard-line conservative positions will make it difficult to defeat Democratic Sen. Maggie Hassan. Republicans have also pulled some money out of Arizona, despite first-term Sen. Mark Kelly’s apparent vulnerability in a state Biden carried by less than 1% in 2020. And in Georgia, Republican Senate nominee Herschel Walker’s prospects have been clouded by allegations that he paid for a girlfriend’s abortion. Laxalt, by contrast, has sought to cast himself as a mainstream Republican with longstanding ties to the state, despite the best efforts of Democrats to highlight his loyalty to Trump. That may be good enough in a difficult political environment for Democrats as questions loom about the potency of the Democrats’ abortion message. Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel, in Las Vegas late last week to promote the GOP ticket, said Democrats have “oversaturated” their abortion message. “Voters are starting to come back to the things they wake up thinking about every day: Can I fill my car with gas? Can I pay for groceries? How are my kids doing?” she said. “And those are the issues that I think are really going to win, and that’s where Adam is focused.” Nevada Republicans also note that abortion — in the state, at least — is settled because of a 1990 referendum that codified abortion access until 24 weeks of pregnancy into state law. Yusette Solomon, a canvasser for the state’s powerful pro-Democrat Culinary Workers union, said he doesn’t hear much about abortion when talking to voters. Instead, the 47-year-old hotel utility porter said, the state’s economic challenges remain a constant concern. “It’s hard for everybody,” he said. “It’s the supermarket. It’s gas. Inflation is something we need to deal with. Everyone’s feeling it.” Solomon lost his job at a Las Vegas hotel for roughly two years because of the pandemic. He survived only by driving for Uber. Still, he’s optimistic about Cortez Masto’s chances. “I’m sure Democrats are going to win. This is a blue state. We’re going to continue to be a blue state,” Solomon said. “Every election is tough.” ___ Associated Press writer Josh Boak in Washington contributed to this report. ___ Follow AP for full coverage of the midterms at https://apnews.com/hub/2022-midterm-elections
