Inside The Protein Bar: A Smart Outlook Myrepublica
Inside The Protein Bar: A Smart Outlook – Myrepublica https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/inside-the-protein-bar-a-smart-outlook-myrepublica/ Protein bars have recently gained so much popularity that people have started consuming it be it for weight loss purpose or weight gain or to maintain certain weight and stay fit and healthy. The healthy eating, healthy living concept have been so much in trend these days that almost every other household have either someone who goes to gym or follows proper diet plan. Cutting off sugar and replacing it with jaggery powder or say eating mixture of 5 types of grains instead of wheat flour for roti purpose or including some fruits, nuts, oats, cereal, for breakfast or being vegan, or opting gluten free products can be seen widely these days. Above all this, Are protein bars good for us to intake daily in our life? They’ve certainly become popular and also an easy, go-to go snack on the way to work from home or from the gym, and for those days specifically when you don’t have time to have a proper meal, but then is it really worth for us to consume or opt for? Come let’s find out together! The concept of dieting, healthy eating, joining gym, doing yoga and exercise is a very good initiation one can do to make their life better both mentally and physically but then what I have personally witnessed is these trends are more focused on in following the trend only rather than its actual benefits. What I believe is following diet plan, doing exercises and yoga, joining gym, eating healthy foods/snacks should be taken as the way it should be not only for fashion and trend purpose only and you should be well aware with the fact that whatever you are doing and consuming should fit you perfectly according to your body type. Sometimes, one healthy food that suits you might not suit the other person. So, “everything that you consume should not consume you basically” Also, the market with these protein bars have taken a huge turn in today’s time basically they are sellable in the market because of its brand name or say the brand icon that is associated with it. Many new influencers, creative minds and entrepreneurs who want to step into this field that have good amount of knowledge and experience in terms of protein bar recipe and it’s right amount of ingredients or say proper research in terms of its quality and quantity (grams) in regard to its ingredients/recipe that needs to be used for better results are lacking behind who can do wonders if they step into this field and what lacks them behind? Is it the Idea? The Recipe? The Research they need to do? Investment? Manpower? Or What Else? So, basically the answer is their “WILL” for them to step into this field without being reluctant of market and the competition that is in the market with same product or the brand icon that are associated with the products that is already available widely and doing pretty good as well. Competition is everywhere and in almost every field and like it is said competition should be within you vs. you not with others. Also, when there’s will, there’s a way so without wondering much if you have some innovative ideas to start up something new that is already in the market don’t step back believing you can’t achieve milestones as they did or are doing rather set example by being unique, different and simply “YOU” In conversation with Mr. Anil Thapa, Public Health Professional who is currently working for Jhpiego US based organization representing Nepal states that “You need to do your own branding by being brand in yourself” I being a fitness freak in my 20s is still passionate about doing workouts, going to gym, following proper diet and in fact I have my own personalized gym at my home that I made, to motivate myself each day to get up and work hard. I being in my mid 30s now, I lack behind in terms of my physical strength while lifting weights, doing heavy workouts but that doesn’t hold me back,as the energy and zeal which I have within me then till now never stops me from following my passion. Apart from being a fitness freak I too want to indulge myself into launching my own brand starting off with protein/fitness bars as an entrepreneur in near future. The idea of protein bar basically generated in my mind back then in 2008 but I tried the recipe for the 1st time in 2012, and took it at my workplaceto munch over for around 2 months but due to work commitments, and pressure it was not feasible for me to take it further. Then again in 2015the idea popped out when I reached London for my further study, as I saw varieties of protein bar, by multimillion fitness companies out there. Nepal had just started energy bars with sugar, nuts and cereals at that timebut they were less in protein, chunky/cardboard in taste and texture and also not worthy both money and health wise too. The size was also tiny around 60-80 grams that couldn’t be considered as snack with less calories where they don’t even put any nuts too. And to my surprise the recipes, the ingredients, the idea that I had in my mind back then between 2008-2012 when there wasn’t such protein bar intake trend or availability in Nepal’s market I saw/see such similar products in the market and in online stores at IGT currently and there I say myself wait, am I late in this, had I taken enough time/years that people already came up with such similar ideas and recipes and doing wonders each day. So, now I have promised myself that “better late than never” I will surely follow my dream and come up with my own brand someday so that people can actually enjoy protein bars not just as a supplement meal or snack or say for weight loss or gain or simply being fit but for their wellbeing both physical and mental, because “we are what we eat” so eat right that’s what my motto for life is. Also, back then when I noted there were granola bar like snickers and other chocolates in Nepal’s market but not fitness bar with less sugar preservatives and unhealthy fats in the Nepali market I wished if there were something which had all the goodness in one element that I could grab and munch over and fill my tummy when I am busy or had no time in preparing full-fledged breakfast to eat. The protein bar that we have in the market have all the same recipe that we basically intake in breakfast like oats, honey, nuts, protein powder, cocoa powder except milk in it, that is basically a concept of having a complete breakfast meal replacement in the form of bar. Moreover, I keep on doing research in this and try making different kinds of bar at home in my leisure timeas an experiment for my knowledge believing that first I need to satisfy myself and my taste bud then only I can satisfy my future consumers/buyers. I have promised myself that the very day when I will be able to satisfy my inner self with my innovation in terms of my recipe, I will surely launch my own brand for that planning and preparation is on from my end at the moment. Therefore, in this regard what I like to enlighten the readers with my learned experience is that “sometimesso called energy bars, protein bars can contain a range of ingredients, from the healthy to the surprisingly unhealthy ones so while many of us are attracted towards best protein bars that is packed with seeds, nuts and whole grains, but at times they are loaded with added sugar and sweeteners – often to mask the bitter taste of some of their more healthy ingredients. And when it comes to choosing a healthy protein bar, knowing what ingredients to look for on the packaging, and understanding basic nutritional information, can help you make an informed choice. Last but not the least when it comes to how ‘good’ protein bars are? It depends on the brand of protein bar and what ingredients that goes into the bar. Most protein bars contain a good mix of ingredients that provide flavor and texture, such as nuts, seeds and dried fruit. They may also contain whole grains, such as oats. To bind these ingredients together, and improve the overall flavor, they may also contain sugar syrups, artificial sweeteners, chocolate, milk, eggs, or yoghurt powder. Vegan brands may choose to use plant-based agents, such as soya or rice. So, its better you consult a dietician or have proper research regarding diet food/snacks before actually indulging yourself into it. Following diet is one thing and living by it wholeheartedly is different thing. Opt for things that you truly enjoy don’t burden yourself just for sake of doing it forcefully, because it’s in trend or you will look rich doing that.  Better results come when you enjoy everything you do through your soul not by money or luxurious things.

F1 Japanese Grand Prix 2022 Result: Verstappen Named World Champion In Anticlimactic Fashion – Sporting News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/f1-japanese-grand-prix-2022-result-verstappen-named-world-champion-in-anticlimactic-fashion-sporting-news/ Max Verstappen has claimed the 2022 Formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship in bizarre circumstances, winning a rain-affected Japanese Grand Prix. The Dutchman took the chequered flag under the impression that he would have to wait until the next race to secure his second successive title. Less than 75% of the race was completed, so the broad assumption was that reduced points would be awarded. However, full points were handed out, meaning Verstappen was confirmed as the world champion. In fact, the news was delivered to the Red Bull driver during his post-race interview with Johnny Herbert.  You can read back on all the action via The Sporting News’ live blog below. Max Verstappen cruises to victory and records a dominant win at the Suzuka Circuit. Some extra excitement on the last lap, too, with Leclerc running off the track but coming back on to hold onto P2 ahead of Perez.  Following a quick assessment by race control, a five-second penalty has been handed to Leclerc, meaning he drops to P3. It has also been revealed that – after much confusion – Verstappen is officially the world champion! Full points have been awarded despite the race being cut short. — Formula 1 (@F1) October 9, 2022 0 mins remaining: The clock is down to zero, so Verstappen will now complete his final lap. 2 mins remaining: Perez is still hot on Leclerc’s heels… But the Ferrari driver is managing to hold on despite some shaky moments.  6 mins remaining: A bit of action at the top now, with Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez battling for P2.  The Monegasque driver runs wide by Perez isn’t quite close enough to finish the overtake. 8 mins remaining: Fernando Alonso has boldly pitted and drops down three spots to P10. 11 mins remaining: “Are you sleeping?” Sergio Perez asks his race engineer. It’s been a quiet race so far, even with the wet conditions. 16 mins remaining: Some radio mind games between Alpine and Mercedes as Esteban Ocon and Lewis Hamilton jostle for P4. Despite hinting that they might come into the pits, both drivers are still on track. 22 mins remaining: A very brave sweeping overtake from George Russell sees him overtake Yuki Tsunoda for P10. 25 mins remaining: Verstappen has already exerted his dominance in this race, leading his nearest challenger Leclerc by eight seconds. 29 mins remaining: Ricciardo reports on the radio that the weather is stable. Cars have actually left pit lane this time, and are now following the safety car. A rolling start will get us underway shortly. 1 hour 15 min since restart suspension: More racing on the way! Race Control has announced that cars will be sent back out on track at 4:15 p.m. local time, approximately ten minutes from now. 1 hour since restart suspension: The safety car is out… We’re still yet to know if there will be any more racing today. 45 mins since restart suspension: With the race timer ticking down, there isn’t enough time remaining to run at least 75% of the race distance. That means Max Verstappen will need to wait another two weeks before he can be crowned world champion. 30 mins since restart suspension: Still no sign of cars returning to the track, but the crowd at Suzuka is still full. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to get underway again safely. — Formula 1 (@F1) October 9, 2022 15 mins since restart suspension: There has been plenty of discussion about a controversy involving a recovery tractor that was on track following Carlos Sainz’s crash. The tractor was brought out before all drivers had passed it. Pierre Gasly was visibly angry once he returned to the garage after he had to avoid the tractor in low visibility conditions. The onboard video of Gasly passing the recovery vehicle is terrifying. Something needs to change. pic.twitter.com/ldwszWgG9K — ESPN F1 (@ESPNF1) October 9, 2022 Lando Norris has even taken to Twitter to criticise the incident.  Wtf. How’s this happened!? We lost a life in this situation years ago. We risk our lives, especially in conditions like this. We wanna race. But this… Unacceptable. — Lando Norris (@LandoNorris) October 9, 2022 10 mins since restart suspension: Rain is falling pretty heavily now, so a restart might be a little while away. RESTART SUSPENDED: Just as cars were warming up to re-enter the track, race control have opted to suspend the restart. It’s unclear why the decision was made, but it appears that more rain is on the way. 5 mins until restart: Max Verstappen will be in pole position from the restart, with Charles Leclerc and Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez behind him.  20 mins since red flag: The safety car has been out to test the track conditions and race control has now announced that the race will re-start in 15 minutes (2:50 p.m. local time / 1:50 a.m. ET).  A rolling start will be used to get us back underway with more than one lap behind the safety car. 10 mins since red flag: Fernando is keeping us entertained as we wait to find out when racing will resume. Peekaboo! #JapaneseGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/6f4DeI3CFc — Formula 1 (@F1) October 9, 2022 RED FLAG: The race has been red-flagged on Lap 2 after a string of incidents, with the rain intensity also increasing.  Cars have made their way to pit lane. LIGHTS OUT: A chaotic opening lap and the safety car is out! It was difficult to see much of the action with the huge amount of spray, but Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc got into an exciting tussle for the lead. Leclerc appeared to have the advantage heading into the first turn but Verstappen managed to keep ahead. — Formula 1 (@F1) October 9, 2022 In the middle of the pack, Sebastian Vettel collided with Fernando Alonso and sustained some damage. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz aquaplaned later in the lap, causing him to slam into a barrier which ends his race. — Formula 1 (@F1) October 9, 2022 Alex Albon has also had his race ended, with his Williams car appearing to have an engine failure. Other impacted drivers on that lap include Guanyu Zhou (who spun on-track) and Pierre Gasly (who had an advertising board land on his front wing after Sainz’s crash).  5 mins to lights out: The formation lap is underway at a very drizzly and overcast Suzuka Circuit.  Most teams have opted for intermediate tires, and there is a lot of spray as the cars set off. Could be an eventful race… 15 mins to lights out: The drivers are on the grid and it’s now time for the singing of the Japanese national anthem. There is every indication that the race will begin as normal, with no rolling start. 30 mins to lights out: Home crowd favourite Yuki Tsunoda is the only Japanese driver on today’s grid.  He’ll start the race from 13th, whilst his Alpha Tauri teammate Pierre Gasly will begin from pit lane after his rear wing and front wing ballast were changed following qualifying.  40 mins to lights out: Rain continues to fall at the track and according to the local weather forecast, it isn’t set to stop any time soon.  It doesn’t appear too heavy, so here’s hoping we can avoid a delayed start like in Singapore last week.  Intermediates appear to be the tire of choice as the cars head out on track.  50 mins to lights out: Sebastian Vettel will race for the last time at Suzuka as an F1 driver today.  Exactly 11 years ago he secured the second of his four world championships on this very track. A good omen for Verstappen…? — Formula 1 (@F1) October 9, 2022 1 hour to lights out: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News’ live coverage of the 2022 edition of the Japanese Grand Prix. Flowing Cloud first filed a form on the HKEX just days after its transition, with the company mentioning the word “metaverse” more than 200 times in its prospectus, but it “automatically lapsed” after it failed to pursue the listing within the required six months. According to the prospectus, AR/VR marketing services, AR/VR content, and AR/VR SaaS make up the majority of the company’s current revenue; AR/VR marketing services accounted for 72.3% of the firm’s total revenue in the first quarter of 2022, and it claims to have spent less than 4% of revenue on R&D over the last three years. Flowing Cloud also said that it has no clear profit model as yet due to the construction of the metaverse still being in its early stages. [Flowing Cloud Technology]

New Industry PAC To Back Pro-Crypto Candidates – Washington Examiner https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/new-industry-pac-to-back-pro-crypto-candidates-washington-examiner/ October 09, 2022 03:00 AM A cryptocurrency industry group has formed a new political action committee at the end of the 2022 midterm election cycle with the hope of helping to form the next Congress’s view on the new industry. The Blockchain Association, a group that represents more than 100 organizations in the industry, formed its PAC in September 2022 with the hope of influencing and, in future election cycles, funding candidates interested in the cryptocurrency industry. REPUBLICAN ALLAN FUNG LEADS DEMOCRAT IN DEEP-BLUE RHODE ISLAND DISTRICT: POLL “If you are interested in having a conversation about crypto, we want to talk to you,” Executive Director Kristin Smith told the Washington Examiner. Smith worked as an aide on Capitol Hill for 10 years, with a focus on technology policy. She founded the association by herself in 2018 and has quickly expanded it to represent an assortment of entities within the industry, including Circle, Ledger, Ripple, and several others. The Blockchain Association PAC’s formation just last month means it won’t have any significant financial impact on the 2022 midterm elections, but it follows a massive surge in crypto lobbying and election funding. Super PACs with ties to the cryptocurrency industry have invested tens of millions into the 2022 races. Crypto-adjacent PACs invested more than $31 million into the 2022 primaries as of July, according to Federal Election Commission disclosures reviewed by Roll Call. At least two PACs are founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of the crypto exchange FTX. Crypto lobbying has also been on the rise. The industry spent at least $6.8 million lobbying Congress in the second quarter of 2022, according to Roll Call. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER The 2022 surge in crypto-funded lobbying and PACs was inspired by several debates in 2021 around President Joe Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill and crypto-related provisions, according to Smith. Biden had proposed new crypto reporting requirements that would cause a large change for anyone involved in digital wallet development or crypto miners. “What we saw last year with the infrastructure fight last summer is that people … woke up to the fact that, ‘Oh, wow, there’s people are talking about crypto on the floor of the United States Senate. I need to figure out how to be a part of that process,'” Smith said. When asked what races they were keeping an eye on, Smith mentioned the Senate campaigns of Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) — both, she said, have supported “good regulatory solutions for crypto.”

Fall Warmth Continues Through The Weekend With A Slight Cooldown On The Way. – FOX 13 Seattle https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/fall-warmth-continues-through-the-weekend-with-a-slight-cooldown-on-the-way-fox-13-seattle/ Published October 8, 2022 9:13PM Updated 9:13PM Seattle – Summer heat lives on in October.  Highs Saturday jumping into the upper 70s for Seattle.  A few spots around the region tied or broke records.  Overnight we’ll cool into the low to mid 50s and those temperatures feel more like September rather than October.  Look for areas of fog early Sunday morning before giving way to sunny skies.  Sunday highs will run slightly cooler by a couple degrees with most landing in the 70s.  Haze will spread across the regioin again leaving us with degraded air quality.  Air Quality Alerts remain in effect for 12 Washington counties through tomorrow. Areas highlighted in gray from Snohomish County to the north to farther south into Clark County along with Chelan and Douglas Counties in Eastern WA could see values drop from moderate to unhealthy levels.   Don’t forget to look up Sunday night as the Hunter’s Moon will be full.  Skies look mostly clear with just a little haze.   By Monday afternoon air quality improves as a weak system just north of us will help push smoke and haze out of Western WA and farther east. Clouds will increase some, and we have a small chance of seeing a few showers over the mountains.  Even though temperatures will cool some early next week we’re still forecasting above normal highs with morning clouds to afternoon sun.  Highs land in the mid to upper 60s.  Late week our ridge strengthens and pushes the mercury back into the 70s.  During this time upper-level haze will develop once again.  Have a great rest of the weekend all!  ~ Erin Mayovsky, FOX 13 Forecaster

6 Real-Life Places You Can Visit Inspired By Your Favorite Fall Movies And TV Shows – The Everygirl https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/6-real-life-places-you-can-visit-inspired-by-your-favorite-fall-movies-and-tv-shows-the-everygirl/ Summer travel is all about sandy beaches and palm trees, and while we love a warm-weather vacay, travel doesn’t have to stop once the weather cools down. Fall getaways are an excellent way to use that leftover vacation time from summer. And if you need some inspiration for places to visit, might we suggest turning to your favorite fall movies and TV shows? After all, watching dreamy scenes of fall foliage and your favorite characters in their chunky sweaters and boots is enough to make anyone want to jump through the screen. So many fall movie and TV favorites take place in locations that perfectly capture the crisp feeling of autumn. Whether fall makes you long for a stroll through a picturesque small town or you’d rather run amok (amok, amok, amok!) through spooky historic streets, you can experience the magic of these places yourself. Here are six real-life places to visit this fall based on our favorite seasonal movies and TV shows. Salem, Massachusetts – Hocus Pocus There’s nothing more iconic than Salem, Massachusetts, in October. The New England town is, of course, home to the real-life witch trials of 1692 and served as the setting of the 1993 Halloween classic Hocus Pocus. For anyone who obsessed over the Sanderson sisters’ campy outfits or longed to live in Max and Dani’s quirky house, Salem is a must-visit. You can tour several of the filming locations in present-day Salem. Visit Pioneer Village, a living history museum where the opening scenes were shot. Check out the Ropes Mansion, AKA Alison’s house. And don’t miss a peek inside Old Town Hall, made famous by Bette Midler’s rendition of “I Put A Spell On You” during the never-ending Halloween dance party. There’s now even an Airbnb modeled after the Sanderson sisters’ cottage! St. Helens, Oregon – Halloweentown If you’re a fan of the 1998 movie Halloweentown, don’t sleep on St. Helens, Oregon. The small town served as the primary filming location for the Disney Channel classic. Every year since, its riverfront district has transformed into the Spirit of Halloweentown for the month of October. The event is open to visitors 24 hours a day, just like any city. It includes attractions like a haunted house, a Halloween parade, and a giant pumpkin that stays lit for the entire month. There is so much to see and do. You’ll wish you had your very own Benny to taxi you around! Forks, Washington – Twilight Forks, Washington, is the real-life town that author Stephenie Meyer used as the setting of Twilight. Fans will find plenty to see and do in this rainy Pacific Northwest destination. Visit the Forever Twilight in Forks Collection, which houses many props and costumes from the film, including Bella’s graduation quilt and outfits that Bella, Edward, and Jacob wore on-screen. Then take a scenic drive around the town to see locations like the Swan residence and the Cullen house, all while taking in the beautiful landscape. In addition to all the Twilight sights, there are ample outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, and camping. So be sure to pack your hiking boots, and don’t forget a raincoat! New York, New York – You’ve Got Mail New York has served as the setting for tons of iconic movies, but when it comes to feel-good fall romantic comedies set in NYC, You’ve Got Mail takes the cake. Nora Ephron set this classic tale in the Upper West Side. Even though a lot has changed since the film’s 1998 release, there are still a few spots that have stood the test of time. Be sure to grab a coffee at Cafe Lalo, the spot where Kathleen Kelly sits and waits (and waits and waits … ugh, my heart!) for NY152 to show up. Then, take a walk through Riverside Park, where Kathleen learns that her online friend and crush has been her nemesis, Joe Fox, all along. And although the interior of The Shop Around the Corner was shot in a studio, see if you can spot the storefront (now a dry cleaner) along West 69th Street where the exterior shots were filmed! Washington, Connecticut – Gilmore Girls The quirky Connecticut town that Lorelai and Rory Gilmore called home in the show Gilmore Girls is, unfortunately, completely fictional. But real-life Connecticut is oozing with New England charm à la Stars Hollow. In fact, the town of Washington is said to be the spot that inspired the show itself. Splurge and stay at the Mayflower Inn and Spa, the gorgeous locale that reportedly inspired Star Hollow’s Independence Inn. In the morning, take a five-minute drive to Marty’s Cafe for coffee, breakfast, and all the Luke’s Diner vibes. Then check out more places that inspired locations in the show, like the Washington Food Market and the Hickory Stick Bookshop. It’s the perfect fall weekend if you want to slow down and soak up all the small-town loveliness that Stars Hollow—I mean Washington, Connecticut—has to offer! Coupeville, Washington – Practical Magic About a two-hour drive and a ferry ride away from Seattle, you’ll find the picturesque town of Coupeville on Whidbey Island. This is where Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, and Stockard Channing filmed the cult classic Practical Magic. Whether you’ve always wanted to know what it would feel like to be an Owens sister witch, or you simply have a thing for charming seaside towns, Coupeville delivers. In between beach walks and small-town boutique shopping, be sure to pick up pastries at Little Red Hen Bakery. This served as the filming location for Sally’s shop, Verbena Botanicals. Then, have dinner at Toby’s Tavern, which fans will recognize as The Catch and Fry. Practical Magic is not only a celebration of love and all things mystical, but the film also champions supportive and powerful women, making it the perfect inspiration for a fall girls’ trip.

Ghana Hosts Third Learning And Development Africa Conference Ghana Business News
Ghana Hosts Third Learning And Development Africa Conference – Ghana Business News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/ghana-hosts-third-learning-and-development-africa-conference-ghana-business-news/ Ghana has hosted the first hybrid and the third Learning and Development Africa Conference on the theme: “Leaving No One Behind in Learning and Development-The Practicalities.” The conference explored possibilities to empower the corporate world to use Learning and Development practitioners in Africa to achieve an all-inclusive programme and use dialogue and experience sharing to encompass diversity in learning programmes. The first hybrid and third Learning and Development Africa Conference also explored the potential to invest in learning and development while ensuring that no individual was left behind. Speaking at the conference, Mrs Margaret Jackson, Convener for Learning and Development Africa (L&D), called on the corporate world to inculcate inclusion and diversity in their learning programmes for staff as part of capacity building. Mrs Jackson said the topics tackled in the two-day conference included re-strategizing for L&D in light of the global trends, and how to prevent the great talent exodus in organizations. She said participants were also equipped on using technology for wider accessibility and promoting diversity and inclusion, and the role of using mobile apps, among others, in micro-learning, as well as the use of L&D as a tool to build and support a Neurodiversity workforce. Mrs Jackson explained the gender lens perspective, empowering employees with disabilities, employee upscaling, and reskilling, and how to manage generational diversity at the workplace, among others, were discussed. Mrs Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, Chief Executive Director of the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), delivering a keynote address, said the world was changing and the only way for people and organizations to rise to the challenge was to continuously learn and develop themselves. Mrs Yankey-Ayeh noted that to reshape the future of the country, it was important to learn at all times. She, therefore, called on Learning and Development practitioners to think of how they would utilize digital tools for everyone to benefit from learning to fit into the current evolving scope of work. She said there was a need for designing new solutions for learning and development for the youth, women and persons with disability. Mrs Yankey-Ayeh stated that “the youth can’t be left behind, the way they do things has changed, they now sit on their phones for long, how do we take learning to them using digitalized tools.” Dr Peter Bamkole, the Director of the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria, speaking on brain drain said some of the reasons for professionals leaving the African continent was economics. He explained that economic hardship was forcing many to seek better lives in developed countries. Dr Bamkole said health was another push factor, stating for instance, that during the covid-19 era people were worried about their health and travelled outside for care as Africa was the last continent to get a vaccine. He indicated that other reasons were social, family related, as well as peer influence. He added that Covid-19 did not necessarily change things happening in Africa such as brain drain but rather accelerated what was there and brought to the fore what people were not seeing as learning and development practitioners. He said it was the responsibility of practitioners to understand and develop new strategies for their staff as people now want flexibility at work without restrictions as they now want to do remote working. Dr Bamkole urged the management of organizations to treat their staff differently based on their outputs and give them the flexibility to work instead of boxing them all together with policies adding that “when the mind is at peace, talents will flourish.” Source: GNA

‘Healthy Cities’ Status Shows Qatar’s Efforts To Improve Living Standards – The Peninsula https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/healthy-cities-status-shows-qatars-efforts-to-improve-living-standards-the-peninsula/ Doha: All municipalities of Qatar recently received the title of ‘Healthy Cities’ by World Health Organization (WHO). The achievement came as a result of efforts made by the Ministry of Municipality in coordination with municipalities and other authorities concerned to improve the quality of life of people in the country. The Healthy Cities initiative of WHO was conceived with the goal of placing health high on the social and political agenda of cities by promoting health, equity and sustainable development through innovation and multisectoral change. “These efforts contributed to the achievement of this accreditation by Qatari cities. Most notable of these efforts is the implementation of a comprehensive urban development plan for Qatar and the effective and directed investment in infrastructure projects in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030, the National Development Strategy, and the Sustainable Strategy of the Ministry of Municipality,” said Assistant Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, Mansour Abdullah Zaid Al Mahmoud. He said Qatari cities are characterised by the presence of multiple and interconnected utility networks, with large green spaces, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and various means of welfare for the population, which had a significant impact on improving the health of community members, both physically and psychologically. He said the Ministry has worked hard within the framework of its strategic plan to raise the standard of services and health and environmental conditions, in addition to activating the partnership with various community institutions, through awareness programmes, activities, and health and environmental projects to build sustainable habits.

What Channel Is Cowboys Vs. Rams On Today? Time, TV Schedule For NFL Week 5 Game – Sporting News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/what-channel-is-cowboys-vs-rams-on-today-time-tv-schedule-for-nfl-week-5-game-sporting-news/ With “America’s team” going against the reigning Super Bowl champs, making this “America’s Game of the Week” for Week 5 of the NFL season was essentially a no-brainer. With that in mind, the Cowboys’ trip to SoFi Stadium to take on the Rams will draw plenty of warranted attention. After an uninspiring loss and an injury to Dak Prescott in Week 1, Dallas has rallied around its defense and backup quarterback Cooper Rush to ring off three straight wins and enter Week 5 with a 3-1 record. With the unclear details surrounding Prescott’s potential return in Week 5, it appears that Rush will again be tasked with leading the Dallas offense. In Prescott’s absence, Rush has gone 3-0, completed 61.8 percent of his passes and thrown four touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ “finger-lickin’ special” pass rush is up to 15 sacks on the season, good for second behind the Eagles (16).  Dallas’ defensive pressure could cause problems for the Rams, who failed to score a touchdown in a 24-9 loss to the 49ers on Monday night. Los Angeles allowed seven sacks and committed two turnovers on the night, one of which was a pick-six that effectively put the game away in the fourth quarter. It’s been a rough go this season for Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has thrown more interceptions (six) than touchdowns (four) and has been sacked 16 times. One bright spot on offense for the Rams has been Cooper Kupp, who has caught three of Stafford’s four touchdown passes and has a league-high 42 receptions through four weeks. With time, the connection between Stafford and Kupp could keep Dallas’ secondary busy. If it’s a Super Bowl hangover impacting the Rams, they’ll look to get over it on Sunday as they face a tough test in the Cowboys, who look to keep the momentum going by extending their win streak. Sublime Object Of Ideology: Korean Beauty Standards And Metaverse 코리아타임스
Sublime Object Of Ideology: Korean Beauty Standards And Metaverse 코리아타임스
Sublime Object Of Ideology: Korean Beauty Standards And Metaverse – 코리아타임스 https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/sublime-object-of-ideology-korean-beauty-standards-and-metaverse-%ec%bd%94%eb%a6%ac%ec%95%84%ed%83%80%ec%9e%84%ec%8a%a4/ Courtesy of Liane By David Tizzard Note: The following piece was part of a video essay created with Michelle Ju Sihyun. For the full interactive experience, watch it here on YouTube. South Korean people are attractive. Especially the ones you see in the dramas, the music videos, the movies, and social media. Beauty here is off the charts. But such sky high beauty standards are not just expected from the country’s rich and famous. Nor are they only applied to women. Whether going to work, attending university, or just trying to live, Korean people young and old feel the pressure of having to look good. A certain type of good. There are standards as to what constitutes being beautiful in Korean society. These standards are not created by individuals, but instead by the community. And they are seen as a strength: a mark of personal development. Yet the expectations and pressure on ordinary Korean citizens have been very hard to live up to. Now something new has emerged. Something more than human. Something challenging the very fabric of reality. Something that might change the conversation about beauty in Korea…forever. Beauty and Lookism The Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky said that beauty will save the world. Here in Korea, many feel like beauty is doing the opposite. It’s strangling them. But what is beauty? And just how do societies like South Korea determine what is or isn’t beautiful? Standards of physical attractiveness differ by country, era, and culture. This points to beauty being, in part at least, socially constructed. Phenomenology tells us that there is a dialogue at play: our identities are formed by us perceiving how other people view us. Consciously and subconsciously we are affected by the people around us. We are reacting to others as we construct ourselves. That’s why social media now plays a very important role in our perception of beauty. The more time we spend online looking at other people, particularly beautiful ones with features and skin enhanced by the latest filters, the more we think about our own appearance. So despite all the talk of communication and connectivity, the internet isn’t just us experiencing other people. The internet leads us straight back to us. To ourselves. But why does beauty matter? Research tells us that a person’s physical attractiveness is positively associated with their quality of social experiences. The prettier you are, the more advantages you will have in life. But what about if you are not pretty? The less beautiful you are, the more likely you are to face discrimination. And studies have shown that when people face discrimination based on their appearance, it can have strong negative effects on their mental health. It can even lead to suicide. Something modern South Korea sadly knows far too much about. Discrimination based on beauty is common almost everywhere. While some of us might have been raised being told not to judge a book by its cover, in South Korea the opposite is often true. In this hyper-competitive society driven by the experience of a compressed post-colonial modernity, it has taken on an even more serious role. People are frequently reminded that first impressions matter ― including their face, clothes, and hair. A person’s external image carries huge importance. Like age, gender, and wealth, in South Korea, beauty can determine your life, your career, and your success. This focus on aesthetic experience as a way of securing social and cultural capital in South Korea is called “Lookism.” For some, lookism and a focus on beauty is a positive thing. It is a method of improving and bettering oneself, with its origins in the traditional Confucian ideas of self-cultivation. Gwansang is a traditional Korean concept which believes you can see someone’s fortune in their face. The outward appearance is everything and reveals our destiny. There are even stories of the biggest Korean companies having people specializing in such skills present during interviews ― determining through the face alone whether a person will bring success to the firm. To others, lookism is a far more modern issue, driven by economic pressures, the labour market, and the weight of the entertainment industry. Plastic surgery, seen this way, is a sign of strength in South Korea, not of weakness. It’s a way to present the best side of yourself. To make a great first impression. And to show that you care about the public gaze. In this way, beauty has become a surrogate for qualifications or experience. Instead of paying for training, citizens can instead invest in cosmetics or plastic surgery to help them better fit in and advance up the social ladder. They do this not by being themselves, but rather meeting the standards of beauty society expects of them. Thus, the uniform standards of appearance are maintained. Big eyes, pale skin, a small face, and a slender body. Reinforced through the media and then exaggerated to sometimes impossible levels by filters. Society demands you be hot…or at least try. And that trying is really important. In South Korea, for many people, looking good is a duty. Not a choice. It’s part of the social contract. And some people are much better at navigating this world than others. Virtual Influencers: Lucy is one of the many new virtual influencers, celebrities, and K-pop stars you can now find in the country. She works for Lotte Home Shopping. She’s huge on social media. She has a hundred thousand people following her. She’s all over the latest trends. But she’s not real. Not like you and me anyway. But what makes something real? These virtual influencers like Lucy have Wikipedia pages, verified Instagram accounts, and they appear in commercials. They make songs and hold concerts. And what can be realer than achieving the dream of working for South Korea’s most powerful companies? Lucy and these other virtual influencers are citizens of the metaverse. But some of you might be asking, what is the metaverse? The answer to that is both very easy, and very difficult. The metaverse forces us to question where we draw the line of what is and isn’t real, blurring the line between fiction and reality. The basic idea is that our current 2D internet experience becomes 3D. So instead of just looking at a flat computer or phone screen, we actually become part of the screen in front of us. We enter the computer. Abandoning our physical reality for a digital one. Becoming virtual pioneers and inhabitants of a new world. Rather than the speculative science fiction of The Matrix or Black Mirror, the metaverse is seen as part of our natural evolution as humans. Just like we went from living in the water, to trees, then caves, villages, towns, cities, and finally that super cramped but Netflix-having apartment all of your own, the metaverse is the next step. We once believed that whatever intelligence computers had, they never had the faculty of consciousness. They might have raw power, but they would never master things which we held to contain the essence of humanity, such as chess or music. These beliefs have since been dramatically shattered. So while there is certainly skepticism about the applications of the metavese, we would do well to remember that computers have continually surpassed everything we once thought they were capable and not capable of. The metaverse could well be the future of information, entertainment, education, and business. A revolutionary movement forward in becoming new humans. The birth of Homo Deus. Metaverse in Korea In the classrooms, students at Korean universities have begun attending orientation sessions in the metaverse. Here, alongside the pressure of starting a new chapter of their lives, young people have been carefully selecting their hair styles, faces, and eyes hoping to create a positive first virtual impression and impress their classmates in the digital world. And while previously we tried to get close to the rich and famous through backstage exclusives, gossip magazines, and celebrity tours, through the metaverse, South Korean production companies have found a far more immersive way to provide such sensations. They have recreated K-drama sets in virtual showrooms. Allowing viewers to digitally inhabit these worlds and become characters in their favourite shows. Experiencing for themselves the whirlwind that is the K-drama life. The music industry is not being left behind. We have already seen K-pop groups debut with virtual members alongside their real counterparts. And following the popular reality program ‘Produce 101’, similar competitions have been held online with popular female virtual influencers. These digital women held fan meetings, completed personality tests, and even uploaded compilations of their cutest sneezes for their devoted fans. But what exactly are these new idols? Are they the next Blackpink or BTS ready to take the world by storm? Or simply soulless dancing shadows, the products of their creators? A Search for Stability Our current world has abandoned trust and stability. We now live in a post-truth era, characterized by constant change and liquid modernity. Strangely, our desire to create a secular environment based only on facts and rationality has meant none of these seem to exist anymore. But as humans, we are always searching for our place in the world. Whether physically or psychologically. And so, despite not being real, virtual influencers like Lucy and digital worlds like the metaverse give us a very ironic sense of security amidst all the other changes we’re experiencing. They’re code. Secure. Rigid. And Pure. Trustworthy combinations of 1s and 2s that make us feel warm and safe. And that’s because the ...

Latest EU Sanctions Expected To Stimulate Russia’s Own Crypto Market, Exchanges Maintain Services – Regulation Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/latest-eu-sanctions-expected-to-stimulate-russias-own-crypto-market-exchanges-maintain-services-regulation-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/ The new crypto sanctions imposed by the European Union are likely to spur the development of the country’s digital asset market, according to a Russian lawmaker. Anatoly Aksakov, who chairs the parliamentary Financial Market Committee, believes Russians will manage to bypass the restrictions. Meanwhile, major exchanges have reportedly informed Russian users that trading continues. Russians Find Ways to Circumvent Mounting European Crypto Sanctions, Duma Member Insists This week, the EU adopted its eighth package of penalties against Russia, meant to hit its government, economy, and energy exports in response to the recent escalation of the military conflict in Ukraine and the annexation of Ukrainian territories. Russian access to cryptocurrency, viewed as a tool to circumvent financial restrictions and export wealth, was also targeted. Anatoly Aksakov The Council of the European Union completely banned the provision of crypto wallet, account, and custody services to Russian residents and entities. However, according to a high-ranking member of the Russian parliament quoted by the Tass news agency, the EU decision may actually stimulate the development of Russia’s digital financial asset (DFA) market. The opinion was expressed by Anatoly Aksakov, head of the Financial Market Committee at the State Duma, the lower house of Russian parliament. He has been deeply involved in recent efforts to regulate the country’s crypto space, including the use of digital currencies in international settlements. Authorities in Moscow have been discussing the matter for over a year and considering an expansion of the legal framework which currently covers mostly DFAs with an issuer, such as tokens. The latest round of EU sanctions tightens previously imposed restrictions. Earlier this year, as part of its fifth package of measures approved a little over a month after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, the 27-strong bloc limited only “high-value” crypto-asset services for Russians and Russian-registered organizations — those for digital holdings exceeding €10,000 in fiat value (approx. $11,000 at the time, less than $10,000 now). Binance, Huobi Comment on Latest EU Sanctions, No New Restrictions for Now “Similar decisions have already been made before. They closed the official representative offices of their crypto exchanges in Russia, but de facto nothing has changed. There can also be an office in the virtual space, not at some address in Moscow,” Anatoly Aksakov further elaborated, insisting that Russians can easily bypass the sanctions. While the world’s largest crypto exchange, Binance, partially complied with the EU’s earlier requirements, allowing only withdrawals in the case of Russian account balances exceeding €10,000, it has now told users it did not introduce new restrictions, Bits.media revealed in a report. Another major platform, Huobi, said it “continues to support the stable trading of Russian users.” Of the top seven global crypto exchanges popular with Russians, which also include Bybit, Coinbase, FTX, Kraken, and Gate.io, none is a “European resident” for which the measures would be mandatory, the Russian crypto news outlet noted. Russian crypto experts, like the CEO of defi banking platform Indefibank, Sergey Mendeleev, doubt that most crypto companies would rush to implement the EU resolution targeting all Russian users as this would lead to loss of market positions. “Moreover, these restrictions stimulate the development of modern technologies. Next year will be the year of digital financial assets in Russia, you’ll see,” Aksakov promised. His comments come as deputies in the State Duma prepare to adopt a new law “On Digital Currency” designed to regulate decentralized crypto assets such as bitcoin and their employment in cross-border crypto payments between Russian companies and their foreign partners. Julian Assange Supporters Protest Against US Extradition In London, DC: ‘crucial That We Fight’ – Fox News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/julian-assange-supporters-protest-against-us-extradition-in-london-dc-crucial-that-we-fight-fox-news/ Hundreds of supporters of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange gathered in London and Washington, D.C., on Saturday to demand the U.S. government end its efforts to extradite him over the publication of classified documents.  Assange, who is currently being held at London’s high-security Belmarsh Prison, will face espionage charges if he is extradited to the U.S. He is accused of publishing information detailing crimes committed by the U.S. government in the Guantánamo Bay detention camp, Iraq and Afghanistan, and reveals instances in which the CIA engaged in torture and rendition. Britain’s High Court ruled over the summer that Assange can be extradited to the U.S. Supporters in London on Saturday formed a human chain outside Britain’s parliament that stretched from its perimeter railings and across nearby Westminster Bridge to the other side of the River Thames. JULIAN ASSANGE EXTRADITION TO US APPROVED BY BRITISH GOVERNMENT Assange, who is currently being held at London’s high-security Belmarsh Prison, will face espionage charges if he is extradited to the U.S. (FOX News Digital/Landon Mion) Assange’s wife Stella said the British government should speak to U.S authorities to stop the extradition attempts. “It’s already gone on for three and a half years. It is a stain on the United Kingdom and is a stain on the Biden administration,” she said. In the U.S., supporters of the Australian-born activist gathered outside the Justice Department to call on the federal government to drop its extradition bid. The protestors said they hope Assange never steps foot on U.S. soil and that he would not be treated fairly by the judicial system. “Julian wasn’t trying to help dictatorships, he was trying to stop the United States from becoming one! And that’s why they want him in jail, and that is why it is crucial that we fight to set Julian free,” 2020 Libertarian Vice Presidential candidate Spike Cohen said at the rally. Human trafficking survivor Eliza Bleu urged the “global elites, the ruling class” and employees of the CIA and FBI to “be a hero, quit your job and become a whistleblower.” “If it’s a choice between free speech and the United States government, trust and know, one’s gotta go! If one has to go, it ain’t gonna be free speech!” she said, adding that she is so passionate about freedom because she knows what it is like to lose it. (FOX News Digital/Landon Mion) Bleu said that, despite being a female trafficking survivor, she skipped out on the Women’s March that also took place on Saturday because, without a free press, there would be nobody to cover women’s issues or survivor’s issues. Assange sought asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in London years ago because he faced extradition to Sweden after two women accused him of rape. The investigations were eventually dropped.  Multiple speakers at the rally in D.C. railed against the corporate press for their lack of journalists at the event, particularly calling out The New York Times and The Guardian for being among the outlets to also publish the contents of the documents Assange had obtained. “We need watchdog journalists not lapdog journalists,” two-time Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein said. In addition to publishing war logs leaked to him by former U.S. Army soldier Chelsea Manning, who was convicted in 2013 of violations of the Espionage Act and other offenses, Assange’s site published internal communications taken from the Democratic National Committee and then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign that shed light on the DNC’s attempts to boost Clinton in the 2016 Democratic primary. Assange has been blamed for impacting Clinton’s chances of winning the presidency in 2016. The Wikileaks founder is wanted by U.S. authorities on 18 counts over the publication of classified documents. Multiple speakers at the rally in D.C. railed against the corporate press for their lack of journalists at the event. (FOX News Digital/Landon Mion) CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP The U.S. has said that Assange put lives in danger with his publication of the documents but his supporters call him a political victim.  The CIA has reportedly previously had plans to kill Assange over the publication of sensitive CIA hacking tools, known as “Vault 7.” The agency said it suffered “the largest data loss in CIA history” after Wikileaks published the materials. According to a September 2021 Yahoo report, the CIA during the Trump era had discussions “at the highest levels” of the administration about plans to assassinate Assange in London. Following orders from then-CIA director Mike Pompeo, the agency had drawn up kill “sketches” and “options.” The report further noted advanced plans to kidnap and rendition Assange and that the CIA made a political decision to charge him. Assange’s legal team has appealed Britain’s High Court ruling to authorize his extradition.

Bourguet Leads Arizona State Past No. 21 Washington 45-38 Yahoo News UK
Bourguet Leads Arizona State Past No. 21 Washington 45-38 Yahoo News UK
Bourguet Leads Arizona State Past No. 21 Washington, 45-38 – Yahoo News UK https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/bourguet-leads-arizona-state-past-no-21-washington-45-38-yahoo-news-uk/ TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Trenton Bourguet was a fifth-string walk-on four years ago and spent the spring in a walking boot when he wasn’t practicing. The Arizona State quarterback prepared as if he was going to be the starter no matter where he was on the depth chart or how bad his foot hurt — a mentality that paid off in a huge way for the Sun Devils. Called into action after Emory Jones was injured, Bourguet threw for three touchdowns and orchestrated Arizona State’s offense to near perfection in a 45-38 victory over No. 21 Washington on Saturday that gave interim coach Shaun Aguano his first victory. “He’s not the tallest or the strongest, but he has the traits to be a good quarterback,” Aguano said. “Once you have that opportunity, make sure you take advantage of it and he did that.” The Sun Devils (2-4, 1-2 Pac-12) lost their first two games after Herm Edwards was fired Sept. 18, though played No. 6 Southern California close last week before fading late. Bourguet, who had offseason foot surgery, adeptly led the offense after Jones was injured in the second quarter against Washington, throwing for 182 yards on 15-of-21 passing with an interception. He hit Elijhah Badger for two touchdowns, including a 2-yarder in the fourth quarter to put the Sun Devils up 45-38. Arizona State stopped the Huskies on fourth-and-9 near midfield and a botched snap all but ended the Washington’s final drive. “Once you get smacked in the mouth enough times you’re going to get up and land the first and last punch,” said Arizona State’s Xazavian Halladay, who accounted for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Washington (4-2, 1-2) had a solid offensive day in the desert, rallying from a 14-point deficit to tie it on Cameron Davis’ third rushing TD, from 5 yards out. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 311 yards on 33-of-53 passing, but no touchdowns. The Huskies struggled defensively in last week’s loss to UCLA and continued to have breakdowns as injuries mounted against the Sun Devils to remain winless in Tempe since 2001 (eight games). “Second week in a row coming down to the wire,” Washington coach Kalen DeBoer said. “We’re giving ourselves a chance to win the game, but we’ve got to do a better job earlier in the game. We’re just digging ourselves a hole.” A three-year after a redshirt, Bourguet was sharp after Jones took a shot to the head in the second quarter from Washington safety Asa Turner, who was ejected for targeting. Halladay scored on an 11-yard run the next play and Bourget followed with a 14-yard TD pass to Halladay, throwing to the flat with a blitzing defender in his face. Arizona State went up 24-10 when Penix had a pass deflected at the line of scrimmage and Jordan Clark intercepted it for a 38-yard touchdown. Washington grabbed a bit of momentum back, pulling within 24-17 at halftime on Wayne Taulapapa’s 1-yard TD run. After Arizona State stuffed the Huskies on fourth-and-1 at their own 32, Bourguet followed with another superb throw with pressure in his face, finding Badger in the back of the end zone for a 10-yard TD and a 31-17 lead. Washington’s Cameron Davis scored on a 4-yard TD run, but Bourguet then split two defenders with a pass to Bryan Thompson for a 38-yard gain to the 1. Daniyel Ngata scored on the next play to put Arizona State up 38-24. “This is what I’m supposed to do as a backup quarterback, be prepared, and I’m glad we came out with a W,” Bourguet said. THE TAKEAWAY Washington: Consecutive letdowns are sure to drop the Huskies out of Sunday’s AP Top 25. Washington couldn’t slow the Sun Devils even after knocking out Arizona State’s starting quarterback to lose consecutive games after a 4-0 start. Arizona State: A week after giving USC a test, the Sun Devils handed Aguano his first win with their best offensive game against an FBS opponent this season. SCARY HIT Penix took a huge hit on Washington’s final drive after being sandwiched between two defenders. Arizona State’s BJ Green was hit with a targeting penalty on the play after hit helmet hit Penix in the throat and left the Washington quarterback gasping for air. “It was a shock,” he said. “It was scary, but I’m good.” Washington’s trainers attended to Penix for several minutes before he gingerly walked to the sideline. Given time to catch his breath, he ran back onto the field after missing one play. “It says a lot about him,” DeBoer said. “He’s been a fighter his entire life and I’m super proud of him.” UP NEXT Washington hosts Arizona next Saturday. Embrace Spirituality To Gain True Material Prosperity The New Indian Express
Embrace Spirituality To Gain True Material Prosperity – The New Indian Express https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/embrace-spirituality-to-gain-true-material-prosperity-the-new-indian-express/ Mata Amritanandamayi (Photo| D Sampath Kumar, EPS) Children, some people say the reason for poverty in Bharat (India) is her spiritual culture. But spirituality is not an obstacle to earning wealth or making material progress. On the contrary, spirituality fosters even material progress. Earning wealth has long been accepted as one of the goals of life, together with dharma (righteous living) and moksha (spiritual liberation). We must be careful, however, not to accumulate wealth unethically or for selfish reasons. Long ago, the people of India were steeped in spirituality. For this reason, she was also materially prosperous. But gradually, some people started becoming greedier. They began to complete for wealth, power and position. Their pride and jealousy made them abandon dharma and forget god. Discord intensified, affecting the country’s unity and strength, and this, in turn, led to conquest by colonial powers. They plundered its wealth and left it bereft of riches. How hard it would be to sow a seed in a desert and nurture it until it sprouts and becomes a healthy sapling. Such is the state of this country; we must work hard to make it lush and green again. Sadly, the truth is that we have not learnt even from such bitter experiences. The majority are focused on personal gain rather than national development. They do not realise that true material prosperity can be gained only by embracing spirituality. If we continue like this, forgetting our own heritage, we will suffer greatly for it. Nature has provided enough for the country’s sustainable development. If we utilise our resources properly, there will be no poverty here. But after India became independent, we did not harness our natural resources properly. Whereas other countries are turning deserts into farmlands, we are turning fertile fields into wastelands. Rural development is still not a priority. For this to happen, educated youth must go to the villages and make villagers aware of the government schemes supporting them. They should motivate people to regard the country as their home, and inspire people to use farmlands for agricultural activities. At the same time, the youth must also share our spiritual culture with the villagers. Spirituality teaches us to give more than we take from society. When we assimilate spiritual principles, we become more considerate towards others. We will begin to see others as ourselves and be willing to share whatever resources we have with them. The ancient sages advised us to make money with a hundred hands and to share it with a thousand hands. If we assimilate this message, India’s future will be glorious. The writer is a world-renowned spiritual leader and humanitarian Spirituality teaches us to give more than we take from society. When we assimilate spiritual principles, we become more considerate towards others. We will begin to see others as ourselves and share our resources with them.

Jordan Travis was picked off on Florida State’s final two possessions as the Wolfpack somehow found a way after losing quarterback Devin Leary to an apparent shoulder injury. Walk-on grad transfer Jack Chambers came in and played a ball-control style at QB, letting the Wolfpack defense do the rest. Lotta miscues in this one that will haunt FSU. Pinned Alabama survives Final: Alabama 24, Texas A&M 20 Alabama tried to give it away at home vs. Texas A&M, but the Aggies couldn’t quite take it in the end. A&M had a chance to win it on the 2-yard line with three seconds left, but Haynes King threw incomplete, and the Crimson Tide escaped. Alabama committed four turnovers for a -3 turnover margin as Bryce Young missed the game due to a shoulder injury. Remarkable effort from A&M as a 24-point underdog. Pinned Clemson cruises Final: Clemson 31, Boston College 3 DJ Uiagalelei struggled through a 1 for 7 stretch that included an interception in the first half as the Tigers looked disturbingly uninterested for a stretch. But the mercurial quarterback got things back on track nicely to finish 18 of 32 for 220 yards, three touchdowns and just the one interception. Uiagalelei also finishes as Clemson’s leading rusher with 69 yards on the ground, thanks to a 40-yard scamper in the fourth quarter. Pinned Kentucky loses two straight Final: South Carolina 24, Kentucky 14 No. 13 Kentucky struggled mightily tonight without injured quarterback Will Levis. Kaiya Sheron got the start at QB and finished 15 of 27 for 178 yards and two TDs and an INT. UK finished with just 299 total yards, in part because the Wildcats surrendered six sacks totaling -54 yards. MarShawn Lloyd led the way for South Carolina with 22 rushes for 110 yards and a TD. Nice win for Shane Beamer’s squad on the road. Pinned Kansas State wins ugly in Farmageddon  No. 20 Kansas State 10, Iowa State 9 Sometimes, you have to win ugly, and that’s exactly what Kansas State did in a low-scoring in Ames. Wildcats quarterback Adrian Martinez put up some good numbers (323 yards of total offense and a touchdown) but K-State couldn’t sustain drives; neither could Iowa State, though, and the Cyclones had less than 300 yards of offense. It’s a survive-and-advance moment for K-State, but the Cyclones, despite some spirited efforts, are careening toward a disappointing season that has Big 12 basement written all over it.  Pinned Devin Leary injured Late 3Q: Florida State 17, NC State 10 Devin Leary just exited NC State’s game with Florida State due to what appears to be a shoulder injury. He was spotted immediately going to the locker room. The preseason ACC Player of the Year has had his struggles this season, but you hate to see that if you’re a Wolfpack fan. Roughing the passer was called, and the Wolfpack are still in this game against Florida State. Pinned Notre Dame getting back on track Final: Notre Dame 28, No. 16 BYU 20 The 2022 season got off to a nightmarish start for Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish have now won three straight to get back over .500 in coach Marcus Freeman’s first year. The switch to quarterback Drew Pyne following the injury to Tyler Buchner has had its growing pains, but Pyne was effective against the Cougars in Las Vegas with 262 yards passing and three touchdowns to one pick. Star tight end Michael Mayer showed what his future could be like on Sundays with 11 catches for 118 yards and a pair of scores. Notre Dame’s ability to keep drive’s going — it went 11 of 16 on third downs — led to nearly 500 yards of offense. If Notre Dame is trying to forget its horrific start to the season, it’s doing a good job.  Pinned Trojans in good shape Early 4Q: USC 24, Washington State 14 It hasn’t been pretty, and the Trojans are not out of the woods yet, but USC is in good shape starting the fourth quarter. Washington State has seen two drives stall out in USC territory as the Trojans continue to prove the critics wrong by showing they can actually play defense. The offense, on the other hand, it’s been OK tonight but nothing overly impressive. Caleb Williams winds up scrambling more than is ideal considering how important he is to what they do. Pinned Wake Forest rolls Final: Wake Forest 45, Army 10 It was reasonable to wonder whether Wake Forest’s defense would struggle with Army’s rushing attack, but the Demon Deacons just waltzed to a 45-10 win over the visiting Black Knights. Sam Hartman completed 13 of 19 passes for 246 yards and a TD and Justice Ellison ran for 96 yards on just 11 carries. Nice stress-free win for Wake after last year’s 70-56 barnburner against Army. Pinned Clemson getting it done Start 4Q: Clemson 17, Boston College 3 It wasn’t a dominant third quarter by any stretch, but Clemson showed some offensive life on a 73-yard touchdown drive to open the third quarter and is driving to begin the fourth. This performance will do little to win over the doubters who are skeptical of Clemson’s bona fides for national title contention. But sometimes you’ve just got to plod your way through it on the road, and that’s what we’re seeing here. Pinned Oregon dominating Late 2Q: Oregon 21, Arizona 3 No drama so far in Tuscon, where Bo Nix has started 10 of 11 for 141 yards to lead the Ducks to an early 21-3 edge. Ducks have scored touchdowns on three straight possessions after starting with a punt, and their defense has forced consecutive punts. Noah Whittington has also broken off a pair of huge runs for Oregon, which will have a big showdown with unbeaten UCLA next week if it survives here. Pinned BYU shows life Early 4Q: Notre Dame 25, BYU 20 After trailing 18-6 at halftime, BYU has come to life in the second half behind a couple of big-play touchdowns. Jaren Hall found Kody Epps for a 53-yard score, and Chris Brooks ran for a 28-yard TD. The Irish are driving again with a chance to go back ahead by two scores. They’ll need more points given how much better the Cougars have been so far in this half.  Pinned Seminoles up Half: Florida State 17, NC State 3 Florida State is playing some stellar defense as a road underdog at NC State and Jordan Travis is doing his thing. A 71-yard run from Travis set up FSU’s first touchdown, and an interception set up the Seminoles’ second score. Rough first half for ACC Preseason Player of the Year Devin Leary, who is just 5 of 14 through the air. Confusing as to why the Wolfpack have struggled so much offensively this year. Pinned USC challenged at half Half: USC 17, Washington State 14 The Trojans are in a fight with Washington State at the half. Cougars quarterback Cameron Ward has been brilliant with 123 yards passing and 2 touchdowns on just 16 attempts. Ward has managed the offense masterfully to cause issues on the last two drives. USC quarterback Caleb Williams had 125 yards passing and a score, but penalties helped keep USC drives alive in the second quarter. This one will be a photo finish.  Pinned Clemson crawls ahead Half: Clemson 10, Boston College 3 Clemson punted on four consecutive possessions — three of them being three-and-outs — at one point in the first half before the Tigers finally punched a TD in. Even then, it was a  big punt return from Antonio Williams that set up the score. Just 131 total yards for the Clemson offense in the first half vs. 168 for Boston College. Neither team can run the ball. Pinned Notre Dame dominating Half: Notre Dame 18, BYU 6 Notre Dame is outgaining BYU 259-67 at halftime behind a 13 of 17 effort from Drew Pyne. He’s thrown for 163 yards and two touchdowns as the Fighting Irish have apparently figured things out offensively. BYU’s only touchdown came largely because of a big punt return. Cougars are healthier offensively than they have been in a while, but you wouldn’t know it from this effort. Pinned Slugfest in Lexington Halftime: Kentucky 7, South Carolina 7 It was an ugly first half between the Wildcats and Gamecocks, and it ended in a deadlock. South Carolina benefitted from an early Kentucky fumble and hasn’t been able to move the ball much after that. Spencer Rattler has really struggled, and he has turned the ball over twice already. Kentucky quarterback Kaiya Sheron, who is filling in for an injured Will Levis, has a touchdown pass under his belt, but the Wildcats’ offense has been unable to sustain drives to this point. Pinned Washington State ahead Mid 2Q: Washington State 14, USC 10 USC joins the ranks of top-10 teams who have found themselves trailing today after Washington State piles up 14 quick points in the second quarter on a pair of long drives. Cam Ward has found a rhythm after starting slow, and Caleb Williams has missed on his last three for USC as the Trojans retake possession at their own 37 and look to reclaim the momentum. Pinned K-State bad break Late 2Q: Kansas State 7, Iowa State 6 Iowa State’s defense just saved seven points with one of the wackiest defensive plays you’ll ever see. Kansas State quarterback Adrian Martinez completed a pass that was moments away from being a 68-yard touchdown, but it was punched out of the hands of WR M...

Yellow Submarine Is The Most Incredible Tiny House You Can Actually Experience Yourself – Autoevolution https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/yellow-submarine-is-the-most-incredible-tiny-house-you-can-actually-experience-yourself-autoevolution/ As it so happens, the Yellow Submarine is also a unique tiny house you can experience and explore yourself, should you ever find yourself in Marton, New Zealand, as well as a brilliant example of upcycling. “Nothing is ever wasted, just transformed” could be the personal motto of Keith Lovelock, the retired radio technician who came up with the idea for it, way back in 2016, as he was sipping coffee in a yellow cafe. For the past four years, the Yellow Submarine has been offered on Airbnb, allowing guests the chance to experience the unique space. However, it did not start out as a commercial enterprise: Keith wanted to build himself a toy in the family’s backyard, maybe one that he and the grandkids could one day enjoy together. In the process, he created a wonderful and very quirky project that shows just how much you can achieve through upcycling, with dedication, talent and an unbound imagination. The Yellow Submarine started out as a fiberglass grain silo that the two bought online for as little as NZD$1 (US$ 0.56 at the current exchange rate). They needed something that would resemble the shape of a submarine, and this was just perfect. The silo was brought to their home, power-washed and painted yellow, and then Keith started improvising to further create the hull of the sub. He created a plywood structure for the front end, adding radio and satellite dishes to create a more rounded shape. Once inside, you see that these dishes serve like slide-outs, except that they never move, expanding the space by creating small recesses. On top, he built a control tower with a roof made out of an upturned, discarded hot tub. Pieces of solar panels and a repurposed fan further create the illusion of a submarine. As the name implies, the Yellow Submarine is a sort of a Beatles tribute, down to the way it’s anchored between redwoods in a “sea of green” like in the song. Depending on who’s staying it it, it can also serve a Cold War theme, or a steampunk one, because it has elements of both. “There’s no logic to this project at all. It’s just purely whimsical,” Keith once told the media. “Whimsical” doesn’t even begin to describe just how awesome this project is. Access is done through a slow-rising front hatch off the front porch. Right away, as the video tour at the bottom of the page will show, you’re welcomed by a John Lennon mannequin and the distinct impression that, despite appearances, this is a spacious and comfy place. There’s a kitchenette to the side, with a sink made from an old dresser, a microwave, and a decently-sized pantry. There’s also a lounge with a leather Chesterfield couch that can sleep two, and a small desk where you can handle correspondence of the most urgent kind. When you’re in charge of a crew and maybe even responsible for the fate of the world, some issues might not suffer delays. Towards the “pointy end” is the crew’s quarters, with double bunks and an ensuite bathroom that still manages to offer a shower, sink and toilet even though it’s cramped inside a space that doesn’t leave much room to wriggle around. But, as Keith says, you can fit almost anything in a can of sardines if you try hard enough. Keith is a very funny – and smart – man. Upstairs in the control tower, Keith put in a captain’s chair, and all sorts of gadgets and devices built from leftovers from his radio technician days. Also here is a sofa to recline in while taking in the amazing views. The place is packed with amazing stuff that is handbuilt, upcycled or bought on the second-hand market. Gauges on the walls, plaques, maps and blueprints, vintage propaganda posters, and memorabilia like the “genuine” US Navy Mark V diving antique helmet that is actually a “brilliant” knockoff from India, all help tie in the theme beautifully. The Yellow Submarine is 33 feet (10 meters) long and 16 feet (4.8 meters) high, and is hooked to the mains for power, but also has its own backup. There’s a small water heater that’s good for 5-minute showers, and no cellphone or internet because, duh, both are “impossible onboard a submarine.” The construction was completed in early 2018, with Keith and Jen working on and off for about a year on it. The total cost for the project was of about NZD$20,000 (US$11,227) and “a bit of magic.” Getting to spend the night inside it or, for those of us who can’t travel there, getting a feel of the place through videos are both priceless.

EUR/USD Rate Susceptible To Another Rise In US Core CPI – DailyFX https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/eur-usd-rate-susceptible-to-another-rise-in-us-core-cpi-dailyfx/ Euro Rate Talking Points EUR/USD trades to a fresh weekly low (0.9726) following the larger-than-expected rise in US Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP), and data prints coming out the US may continue to sway the exchange rate as the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is anticipated to show sticky inflation. Fundamental Forecast for Euro: Bearish EUR/USD carves a series of lower highs and lows after failing to test the 50-Day SMA (0.9996), and the exchange rate may continue to depreciate over the coming days as it appears to be tracking the negative in the moving average. As a result, EUR/USD may struggle to retain the advance from the yearly low (0.9536) as evidence of a resilient labor market allows the Federal Reserve to pursue a restrictive policy, and the update to the US CPI may encourage the central bank to retain its current approach in combating inflation as the core rate, which strips out volatile items such as food and energy prices, is expected to increase to 6.5% in September from 6.3% per annum the month prior. Another rise in the core CPI may drag on EUR/USD as the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) retains a hawkish forward guidance for monetary policy, and the US Dollar may continue to outperform against its major counterparts ahead of the next Fed interest rate decision on November 2 as evidence of sticky inflation fuels speculation for another 75bp Fed rate hike. Until then, developments coming out of the US may continue to sway EUR/USD as the European Central Bank (ECB) shows little interest in carrying out a restrictive policy, and it remains to be seen if the Governing Council will implement a smaller rate hike at next meeting on October 27 as the actions taken at the September meeting “frontloads the transition from the prevailing highly accommodative level of policy rates towards levels that will ensure the timely return of inflation to our two per cent medium-term target.” With that said, an uptick in the US CPI report may keep EUR/USD under pressure as the Fed’s Summary of Economic Projections (SEP) reflect a steeper path for US interest rates, and the exchange rate may continue to track the negative slope in the 50-Day SMA (0.9996) as it reverses ahead of the moving average. — Written by David Song, Currency Strategist Follow me on Twitter at @DavidJSong DailyFX provides forex news and technical analysis on the trends that influence the global currency markets.

Google’s News Partnerships APAC Head: Nobody Has Yet Cracked Challenge Of Getting People To Read What They Need To Know – The Indian Express https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/googles-news-partnerships-apac-head-nobody-has-yet-cracked-challenge-of-getting-people-to-read-what-they-need-to-know-the-indian-express/ “Google works best with the news industry when we are genuinely partnered on common goals,” Kate Beddoe, director of Google’s News Partnerships in APAC, said, adding that “it is harder to do that when there is a third party in the mix”. Beddoe, who “worked very closely on the news media bargaining code where the government did get into the middle” in Australia, said Google learned some “very valuable lessons as to why you want to be listening and why we need to be a good partner, responding to the needs of the industry”. The mandatory Australian code aimed at helping “sustainability of public interest journalism” enabled eligible news businesses to bargain individually or collectively with digital platforms like Google and Facebook over payment for the inclusion of news on the platforms and services. As a result of the experience in Australia, she said, the launch of Showcase — a Google News product that gives more control to the publishers on what they want to show readers — in India happened very quickly, “because we had learnt the lesson that we need to show up and we need to be listening”. Google has over 90 publishers on Showcase at the moment. “Others have very different needs. And so, we are committed to responding to the needs of Indian publishers in India in a way that works. I think when you have government involved, it becomes more challenging to recognise and respond to those nuances.” Beddoe, a former journalist herself, said the thing most important to her was, “to find the right balance of how can I help quality news reach an audience in a meaningful way. But in order to do that, how do we find the business models that will allow that quality content to exist and reach audiences”. The North Star goal for Google, she said, was this balance in the relationship between users, technology and news organisations, and finding a workable equilibrium on those three factors. But there is a combination of things that Google needs to balance, Beddoe clarified. “On one hand there is the response to users and you know, what is it that they’re looking for, and how do we serve the needs they have. We have increasingly found that people are looking for very local-based news which is becoming increasingly important,” she said, of a trend that became more prominent during the pandemic months. On what she termed as the “interesting challenge” of balancing between what publishers think readers should be reading and what they actually want to read, Beddoe said: “I don’t think that anybody has yet cracked the challenge of getting people to read what they need to know, against what they want to know or what entertains them.”

(KOIN) — People in Vancouver gathered Saturday to take part in one of the more than 450 women’s marches throughout the United States to draw attention to the issue of reproductive rights about a month before the midterm elections. Terri Niles, the founder of the Vancouver Women’s March and also a candidate in the 17th legislative district, was encouraged at the good turnout. “Today we are here supporting our pro-choice women candidates running for office. Abortion is on the ballot in Washington state,” Niles told KOIN 6 News. “With 80% of our legislative seats up for election, this year it is critical that we keep Washington a pro-choice state.” In June, the US Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturned Roe v Wade. Since that decision, statistics show women have registered to vote in higher numbers than men and polling indicates the issue of reproductive rights may change the landscape of how the elections are decided.

Lindblad Transforms Kids Into Global Explorers – Travel Weekly https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/lindblad-transforms-kids-into-global-explorers-travel-weekly/ When the opportunity arose to visit the Galapagos Islands but the timing meant my son would miss two days of school, I hesitated for about 30 seconds. The famed archipelago is, after all, a natural classroom. But because I was traveling with Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic, it ended up being a complete educational immersion. From learning the difference between a spatter cone and a cinder cone to distinguishing species based on being endemic, introduced or adaptive, the naturalists on the National Geographic Islander II gave my son a science lesson he’ll never forget, in a way that didn’t for one second feel like school. Lindblad launched its National Geographic Global Explorers program for kids 18 and under in 2017. Designed in conjunction with National Geographic Education, it was introduced on its Galapagos sailings and has since expanded to Baja, Alaska and, in 2021, to Antarctica. The author’s son gets a lesson on the bridge on Lindblad Expeditions’ National Geographic Islander II. Photo Credit: TW photo by Johannaa Jainchill Sven Lindblad, founder of Lindblad Expeditions, said in a video introducing the program that it is “really trying to help kids get more integrated into the experience in a variety of ways, science projects and such …. And I’m convinced that many of these kids who come with us here to the Galapagos Islands and other parts of the world, having been exposed to scientists, naturalists, geography, they are the future explorers. No question about it.” That may be the case with my kid, who ate up all of the science and exploring during our six days on the ship and now talks about being an onboard naturalist himself one day. Aside from thoroughly filling out the Field Notebook every Global Explorer gets upon boarding, with information about the activities kids are encouraged to complete both on the ship and “in the field” (on land), he was glued to the Lindblad naturalists on every island excursion, where they patiently answered and explained all the questions a 9-year-old surrounded by sharks, sea lions and volcanoes is bound to have.  A child lugs snorkeling gear on the beach on Bartolome Island in the Galapagos. Photo Credit: TW photo by Johanna Jainchill The naturalists tailor the Global Explorers experience to the number and ages of the kids onboard. Popular on all trips is getting a Zodiac “driver’s license” and, depending on the location, may include collecting plankton and viewing it under a microscope or creating slow motion and time-lapse videos with a National Geographic certified photo instructor. On our trip, my son kept track of daily water temperatures (and learned which currents make the Galapagos’ water as chilly as it is) and got a private tour of the bridge with a first officer who explained how a compass, chart plotter and fathometer work. He was proud to then teach me the difference between a mile and nautical mile. A highlight of the sailing for him was standing alongside Paulina, the main organizer of the Global Explorers program on the Islander II, presenting to the rest of the passengers onboard an assignment to invent a species, with a thorough explanation of what traits it has and why. The author’s son spots a sea turtle while snorkeling in the Galapagos. Photo Credit: Elise Hiza Even without the program there is plenty to do and learn on a Galapagos sailing. Snorkeling, kayaking, hiking and the abundance of wildlife would keep any kid occupied on vacation. But Global Explorers adds a real depth to the experience. One of my favorite things about the Field Notebook, in which kids also draw pictures and write facts about the wildlife and geological formations they see, is that it serves as a permanent memory of the trip, one we’ve looked at several times since returning home. And while my son may never drive a Zodiac again, he’ll always have his write-up of the experience: “It was superfun. Shaky at the start. Then I got the hang of it, and I went really fast.”
