Best Parlay (410) For Atlanta Falcons Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 5 October 9 | 2022 NFL Football Season Sportskeeda
Best Parlay (+410) For Atlanta Falcons Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Week 5 – October 9 | 2022 NFL Football Season – Sportskeeda https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/best-parlay-410-for-atlanta-falcons-vs-tampa-bay-buccaneers-week-5-october-9-2022-nfl-football-season-sportskeeda/ The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) will play host to their divisional foe, the Atlanta Falcons (2-2), on Sunday (October 9) in NFL action at Raymond James Stadium. Both teams will look to climb over the .500 mark as they finish the first quarter of the season. Below, we’ll go through the best parlay to make for Sunday’s contest. Bet $5 on Week 5 action and win $200 in free bets if your money line bet wins on NFL when you join DraftKings Through FanDuel, place a 4+ Leg SGP (Same Game Parlay), SGP+ on any 10/9 NFL Games and get a bonus in free bets equal to the size of your wager, up to $10, win or loss (wagers must have final odds of +400 or greater). NFL Parlay Leg #1: Chris Godwin Any Time Scorer (+120) It’s safe to say that Chris Godwin has owned the Atlanta Falcons for the entirety of his career. The Penn State product averages 80 yards and a score per game against the division rival. In addition, Godwin dominated the Falcons secondary last year with 19 receptions for 205 yards and one TD in two games. All this occurred with Atlanta CB A.J. Terrell playing at an All-Pro level. With Atlanta’s inability to make a significant addition to their secondary in the offseason, Godwin should be able to find a lot of green grass on Sunday and find his way into the endzone. NFL Parlay Leg #2: Tom Brady 250+ Yards (-245) The beneficiary of Godwin’s dominance will no doubt be his quarterback Tom Brady. Like Godwin, Brady has made a healthy living playing against Atlanta. His 113.9 QB rating against the Falcons is the highest amongst all 32 NFL franchises. Asking Brady to throw for over 250 yards seems like a small task, as he averages 334 passing yards per game against the division foe. A blowout shouldn’t affect the Tampa Bay passing attack either. Brady has eclipsed 250 passing yards in four of five games they won by 24+ dating back to last season. Bet $10, win $200 if either team scores a touchdown for new BetMGM players NFL Parlay Leg #3: Drake London 40+ Yards (-350) Somebody has to catch the ball in Atlanta, so why not side with unequivocally their best player – Drake London – a rookie out of USC, has been a bright spot for the Falcons so far. He has played 80% or more of the snaps in his last three contests, and his receiving prop is set at 59.5 yards. A positive game script should aid in London surpassing the 40-yard threshold. In their two losses, London has seen 19 targets and has hauled in 13 of them. NFL Parlay Leg #4: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3.5) (-280) As an NFL spread approaches double digits, the worry is always the back door cover. The Bucs will most likely close as a -10 favorite, so buying 6.5 points seems like a safe bet. Tampa has swept the season series in the past two seasons, yet two of the wins came by only four points. It also doesn’t help that Atlanta is 4-0 ATS so far this season. The safe play here is taking Tampa to win by four and increasing the odds of the SGP to over +400. Tail one of these plays when joining BetMGM for a $Risk-Free Bet up to $1,000 Rate this story! ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Thank You!

He didn’t have to escape the pocket to crack the scoreboard, though. He stood tall and threw a 10-yard dart to tight end Cameron Latu over the middle in coverage to give the Crimson Tide the lead. Texas A&M wasn’t intimated by the passing attack before that play. After that, Milroe’s arm should have the Aggies’ attention. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Texas A&M isn’t threatened by the pass Jalen Milroe and Jahmyr Gibbs have had a reasonable amount of success, but it’s clear at this point that Texas A&M isn’t threatened by Milroe through the air. They have stacked the box and are having success after the first drive in which Milroe and Gibbs got going on the ground. Pinned King is looking at the pass rush Texas A&M quarterback Haynes King hasn’t made a big mistake, but it’s clear that he’s rattled by the pressure that Alabama is bringing. The Aggies’ third drive stalled and they were forced to punt after Alabama got pressure on virtually every down.  Pinned Pinned Texas A&M needs big plays Will Anderson Jr. rocked Haynes King on second-and-10, and that was the third time on the drive that Alabama’s front seven impacted the play. It’s clear that the Aggies are going to have a hard time controlling the line of scrimmage, which means they’re going to have to break off some explosive plays to have a chance. That hasn’t happened much this year though. Pinned Pinned Jalen Milroe gets the start and the drive stalls It was indeed Milroe who took the first snap in play of Bryce Young, and it didn’t go according to plan. Jahmyr Gibbs had a 25-yard scamper, but Milroe missed Cameron Latu on third-and-16 and the Crimson Tide were forced to punt. The passing game isn’t necessarily Milroe’s strength, but it’s hard to expect much when he gets behind the sticks. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Prediction time I’ll take No. 1 Alabama to win this game over Texas A&M 42-7. I don’t think the Aggies will be able to move the ball at all, and Alabama will run, run and run some more. That’ll drain the clock and put this one to rest relatively early. Pinned Well, maybe Bryce Young was a decoy Young was announced as Alabama’s starting quarterback inside the stadium. However, it appears that he might not be taking the first snap of the game. Pinned Bryce Young announced as the starting QB The 2021 Heisman Trophy winner sprained his shoulder in the second quarter of last week’s win over Arkansas, and was relieved by dual-threat signal-caller Jalen Milroe. Young’s status has been in doubt all week, and it appears — for now anyway — that he will start for the Crimson Tide. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned See More

Metaverse Tokens That Could Do 10x Before The Year Ends – Decentraland, Enjin Coin, And MetaCryp | – Bitcoinist https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/metaverse-tokens-that-could-do-10x-before-the-year-ends-decentraland-enjin-coin-and-metacryp-bitcoinist/ Blockchain, cryptocurrencies, the Metaverse, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are paving the way for new ways to escape the rat race and enter a safe, drama-free environment. Now that we have this cutting-edge technology, we can all step out of the cold and into the sunshine, explore a fantastical world, communicate with people across the globe, and even play games. Through the Metaverse, one can create a unique environment, complete with all the bells and whistles, meet new people, and have fun playing games without ever having to leave the house. We have compiled a list of the top gaming tokens available for purchase in this post so that you can experience the boundless realm of the Metaverse – The Sandbox (SAND), Enjin Coin (ENJ), and new crypto MetaCryp (MTCR). Explore the Metaverse with The Sandbox (SAND) Regarding online gaming, The Sandbox (SAND) is a blockchain-based utopia. The land is a digital property that can be created, bought, and sold by anybody with access to the network. The project combines a programmable environment with non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are becoming increasingly popular in the gaming industry, to give players a richer, more interactive gaming experience. The Sandbox takes on two major problems in the gaming industry: locked funds and a lack of transparency. Several routes exist in the Sandbox for players to withdraw their funds and use them in other games or the real world. In the Sandbox, users can use a basic Ethereum blockchain explorer to confirm any item’s authenticity, history, and capabilities. Players can generate passive money by collecting land access fees from other players. As players acquire more land or improve their existing holdings, so do their rewards. Have Fun with Enjin Coin (ENJ) Enjin Coin (ENJ) is a digital asset used to back the value of blockchain assets developed on the Enjin online gaming creation platform. This digital asset is built on the ERC-20 standard. This open-source platform was designed specifically for online gamers and the gaming community. It enables virtual ownership of items and trading between players and community members, all of which are made possible through smart wallets. While ENJ was first developed on the Ethereum blockchain, the company has just finished a funding round that raised over $19 million and will use that money to create a blockchain for NFTs based on Polkadot. The DeFi world has a new GameFi Token – MetaCryp (MTCR) Through their new Network, MetaCryp (MTCR) is providing people from all over the world with an environment that seems like a home away from home. The MetaCryp Network is the very first GameFi space in the world. It is a community-focused ecosystem that provides its users with a location that feels just like home, where they may indulge in intense fun and let their wildest imaginations run free. MetaCryp is developing a new space to advance the direction DeFi and the metaverse are headed. This new space is built on the Binance Smart Chain. They are concentrating on developing products compatible with one another in high-end gaming systems, DeFi, and NFT software programs. The objective of the MetaCryp Network is to achieve a position of prominence among those capable of producing a secure and entertaining environment for all its users. These users will be able to take advantage of modernized tools in blockchain technology, the Metaverse, Play2Earn gaming, advanced DeFi platforms, socializing, and all things related to the metaverse in terms of gaming, events, and collectibles. In addition, playing games on the ‘Play-to-Earn Ecosystem’ allows users to earn $MTCR tokens without leaving the comfort of their homes. It ensures they will have the opportunity to earn money using the $MTCR token, in-game assets, or NFTs. There are 500,000,000 MTCR tokens available in circulation. On your first purchase, you can receive a 32% incentive. You will also receive a 10% discount when purchasing MTCR tokens with Ethereum and 8% and 13% discounts when purchasing with BTC and BNB, respectively. Big Eyes, LooksRare, And Bat – Smart Crypto Investment Beyond The Crypto Winter – NewsBTC https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/big-eyes-looksrare-and-bat-smart-crypto-investment-beyond-the-crypto-winter-newsbtc/ Big Eyes (BIG), LooksRare (LOOKS), and Basic Attention Token (BAT) are crypto assets with distinct utilities and features. However, they share similarities based on their prospect of having a great after-winter run, per analysis. LooksRare (LOOKS) and Basic Attention Token (BAT) have had to endure the bear market effect, suffering great price decline, while Big Eyes (BIG) is a new cryptocurrency at presale. Experts believe Big Eyes (BIG) has a higher probability of a great run than the other two. We look into them below. That NFT – LooksRare (LOOKS) LooksRare will hope to leverage the increasing growth and acceptance of NFTs to continue its impressive market run, which has suffered some setbacks due to the bear market effect. The Ethereum-based NFTs and digital collectibles marketplace is one of the leading blockchain platforms that makes it seamless to trade non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with crypto assets while offering rewards. According to the website, collectors and traders have earned about $1.3+ billion in rewards from trading web3 NFTs on LooksRare. The platform also has other passive income earning opportunities. One of which is staking your LooksRare token, LOOKS. This helps you get a daily share of the trading fees in wrapped ETH (WETH) and gives you additional LOOKS tokens. LOOKS is a low-priced crypto asset and one of the most under-watched assets on the coin market. No one saw it coming when it peaked at $7.07 in January of this year. However, it has declined and hit an all-time low in June. LOOKS has been trying to rally back to an above $1, but the crypto effect has been strong. Analysts believe the bull market could see it boom, and its low price could be a great entry point in the long run. Adverts Suited To You ONLY – Basic Attention Token (BAT) Basic Attention Token (BAT) is an innovative crypto asset developed to help advisers, content creators, and users benefit from digital advertising. The blockchain-based project aims to improve the efficiency, fairness, and security of advertisement, leveraging Blockchain technology and a special web browser called Brave. The BAT token is the native currency on the Brave platform that advertisers leverage to pay for ads, and users earn them as a reward when they consume these ads. The project ensures consumers are only exposed to ads of their interests and provides consumer data privacy. This ensures that ads are effective and consumers are protected while earning. It’s an innovative crypto project billed to change the face of digital advertising by ensuring every stakeholder remains satisfied. BAT peaked at $1.92 market price in the previous bull run.  However, it’s currently valued below $0.5 in the present market. The crypto asset still has huge potential of crossing the $1 mark in the coming months due to its unique utility. It’s one of the crypto assets to watch out for beyond the crypto winter. Meme Coins Just Hit An “Adorability” All Time High – Big Eyes Coin (BIG) The Big Eyes (BIG) cryptocurrency is one of the new crypto projects that will change the meme sector. It is billed to help users enjoy DeFi and NFTs benefits and ensure users find these crypto sectors highly beneficial. Big Eyes (BIG) will feature a community-focused blockchain ecosystem where users can access various resources and growth opportunities. Big Eyes token (BIG) will power the ecosystem. It will function as transaction fees on the Big Eyes Swap and will be used to purchase NFTs, which are billed to rise in value as time goes on. The NFTs will allow users access to some of the opportunities Big Eyes offers, making the ecosystem beneficial. The meme coin is enjoying an excellent presale, with $3+ million raised in a few weeks. It’s selling out faster and remains one of the best purchase options for a presale token. It’s set for s great after-winter run per experts’ predictions, and now could be the best time to join the presale. Use code BIGOCT22 for a 5% bonus when buying coins. US Imposes New Sanctions Connected To North Korea Following Spate Of Missile Tests – WDJT https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/us-imposes-new-sanctions-connected-to-north-korea-following-spate-of-missile-tests-wdjt/ By Michael Callahan, CNN (CNN) — The US is imposing new sanctions following a spate of North Korean ballistic missile tests, the US Treasury and State Department announced on Friday. The sanctions target two people and three entities “connected to the delivery of refined petroleum to the DPRK, an action which directly supports the development of DPRK weapons programs and its military,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement Friday. The sanctions include two Singapore registered companies and an entity registered in the Marshall Islands for “illicit ship-to-ship (STS) transfers to circumvent UN sanctions,” according to the Treasury Department. “By designating these entities and individuals, the United States is sending a clear message that we will continue to take actions against those who support the development and sustainment of the DPRK’s military and weapons arsenal,” Blinken said in a statement. North Korea has fired six missiles in the past two weeks — an uptick, even in a year that has seen the highest number of launches since leader Kim Jong Un took power in 2011. The aggressive acceleration in weapons testing has sparked alarm in the region, with the US, South Korea and Japan responding with missile launches and joint military exercises this week. The US has also redeployed an aircraft carrier into waters near the peninsula, a move South Korean authorities called “very unusual.” On Wednesday Blinken warned that if North Korea continues “down this road” of provocation “it will only increase the condemnation, increase the isolation and increase the steps that are taken in response to their actions.” The recent tests have caused administration officials to grow concerned that Kim is set to oversee his nation’s seventh nuclear test. College Football Scores, Updates: USC-Washington State, Alabama-Texas A&M And More – Yahoo Sports https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/college-football-scores-updates-usc-washington-state-alabama-texas-am-and-more-yahoo-sports/ UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (1) signals a first down during his team’s win over Utah in Pasadena, Calif., Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022. (AP Photo/Ashley Landis) UCLA suddenly look like one of the Pac-12 favorites after an emphatic 42-32 victory over No. 11 Utah at home on Saturday. Led by quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (299 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT) and running back Zach Charbonnet (198 rushing yards, 1 TD), the Bruins scored at will against the Utes to improve to 6-0 and 3-0 in conference play. Watch out for UCLA. Here’s what else we’re watching today. (Note: All times ET, odds from BetMGM) Washington State at No. 6 USC Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: Fox | Line: USC -13 | Total: 65.5 The Trojans are 5-0 and up to No. 6 in the AP poll headed into this weekend’s home game against Washington State. Caleb Williams was excellent once again against Arizona State last week, but he did finally throw his first interception of the year. It was the first turnover of the year for USC, which is still No. 1 in the nation in turnover margin at plus-14. Washington State, meanwhile, bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to Oregon by cruising past Cal 28-9 at home to improve to 4-1 on the year. QB Cameron Ward is a dynamic talent, but he’ll need to limit his turnovers if WSU wants to pull off a big upset at The Coliseum. Texas A&M at No. 1 Alabama Time: 8 p.m. | TV: CBS | Line: Alabama -24.5 | Total: 51.5 A few months ago, most expected massive stakes for this game. Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban had some of the spiciest offseason drama in recent memory with a war of words over NIL, among other things. The two claim to have squashed their beef, but that defiant Fisher news conference will be on the minds of many as the Aggies and Crimson Tide line up in Tuscaloosa. Texas A&M upset the Tide in College Station last fall but the Aggies are off to a disappointing 3-2 start this year. Alabama, meanwhile, is 5-0 and up to No. 1 in the rankings following a convincing win over Arkansas. Bryce Young, Alabama’s Heisman-winning quarterback, is questionable to play due to a shoulder injury sustained in the Arkansas win. Nonetheless, Alabama is still a massive favorite. That says a lot about where these two programs currently stand. Cowlitz County Republicans Share Unfounded Reports Of Election Fraud, Candidate’s Arrest – The Daily News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/cowlitz-county-republicans-share-unfounded-reports-of-election-fraud-candidates-arrest-the-daily-news/ Within the last two months, the Cowlitz County Republican Party has shared social media posts featuring theories such as Clark County election fraud in the August primary and a Democratic congressional candidate’s secret arrest.  However, none of those allegations have been proven.  Cowlitz County Republican Party Chairwoman Christy Tseu said she made the posts based on personal research and screenshots she found on Telegram, an online instant messaging service.  She said posting the information didn’t mean the information is true.  3rd District candidates debate on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at the RV Inn Style Resorts Convention Center in Vancouver. “I don’t say in the posts that this is fact,” Tseu said. “I’m just asking questions.” Election fraud Two days after the state’s Aug. 2 primary, the Cowlitz County Republican Party shared a Twitter video purporting to show a ballot box being closed early in Clark County. The Clark County Auditor’s Office said in August the video showed a normal practice where election officials collect ballots in secured bags to more quickly transport them to the office for counting. A post the party made in September linked to election fraud claims made by Clark County auditor candidate Brett Simpson over the August primary for Secretary of State and the 3rd District. Simpson used the alleged fraud to argue for Washington to release cast vote records, an obscure receipt of vote totals frequently demanded by election deniers despite experts saying they cannot prove fraud. Simpson has been involved in two dismissed lawsuits alleging election issues in Clark County, one of which was dismissed this week. 3rd District The Cowlitz County Republican Party on Wednesday posted screenshots of a 2013 Arizona arrest record of a Kristina Marie Perez in Arizona. The arrested woman shared the same maiden name and was a similar age to Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, the Democrat running for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District seat against Republican Joe Kent.  Gluesenkamp Perez’s campaign spokesperson Sandeep Kaushik said the candidate has never lived in Arizona and has never been arrested in any state.  Tseu said she deleted the post, but kept up other posts about Gluesenkamp Perez made at the same time. One post stated Gluesenkamp Perez was still listed on the voter registry in Oregon and questioned the legality of this. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, it is not illegal to be registered to vote in more than one state, as long the person only votes in their state of residence. There was no evidence given that Gluesenkamp Perez has double-voted in any elections. Another post questioned if Gluesenkamp Perez and her husband were actually married because “she’s never taken on her ‘husband’s’ name,” including when they purchased their home. Kaushik said Gluesenkamp Perez added Gluesenkamp to her name conversationally after getting married in 2016. Washington 3rd Congressional District candidate Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Skamania, sits for an interview outside the Monticello Hotel on Monday, Oct. 3 in Longview.  Brennen Kauffman Gluesenkamp Perez’s campaign described the posts as “offensive, false and defamatory.” Kaushik pointed out that screenshots shared by the party as evidence for the claims also prominently show her home address, which Kaushik said was troubling.  “There are legitimate security concerns and willy-nilly throwing out a candidate’s home address in this kind of context, with these false accusations, looks to be an effort to intimidate,” Kaushik said. How Many COVID Tests Should You Take Before Determining You Don’t Have The Virus? – NBC Chicago https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/how-many-covid-tests-should-you-take-before-determining-you-dont-have-the-virus-nbc-chicago/ COVID testing is the first line of defense against the virus, and the key to its effectiveness may be taking multiple. Experts caution that one negative test may not be enough to determine if those feeling ill, particularly those who were knowingly exposed to COVID, have stayed clear of infection. The most recent U.S. recommendations released in August have officials urging that those who were exposed to COVID take three home tests instead of two to boost accuracy. Previously, the Food and Drug Administration had advised taking two rapid antigen tests over the course of two or three days to rule out infection. But the agency said new studies suggest that protocol can miss too many infections, and could result in people spreading the coronavirus to others, especially if they don’t develop symptoms. The new guidance applies to people without symptoms who think they may have been exposed. People with symptoms can continue using two tests spaced 48 hours apart. Health officials have repeatedly cautioned that the tests can give false negatives if taken too early. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends people without symptoms wait five days after an exposure. That’s because it generally takes several days before the antigens reach levels detectable via testing with a nose swab. Coronavirus Pandemic Full coverage of the COVID-19 outbreak and how it impacts you Chicago’s top doctor said there’s no clear answer for how long it could take. “I don’t have a single answer,” Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said last Tuesday. “What I can say is that if you had a known recent COVID exposure – somebody in your family just had COVID, you had a close call on contacts who had COVID – and you develop COVID symptoms in the next, you know, 10 days … you have COVID almost certainly and you should treat it like that, even if it takes a few days for the test to turn positive.” Arwady herself recently experienced a testing delay when she contracted the virus following a vacation in August. “When I had recently been on vacation, I started testing right away when I came back, knowing that that had been a higher-risk setting,” she said earlier during a Facebook Live. “I learned that one of my travel companions tested positive for COVID. I was feeling just fine, I took a COVID test, it was negative. I was being really careful about wearing a mask, which I would have done anyway for 10 days after vacation, but I didn’t quarantine at that point. I didn’t stay home. I was super careful with wearing my N95 mask. But as soon as my very first symptom developed – just a little bit of feeling tired, a little bit of tickle in my throat – I was like, ‘Oh boy, I probably have COVID.’ I stayed home at that point. I took a COVID test – an at-home test – it was negative that night. I developed a fever… It was still negative the next morning, and then it took about my third COVID test, which was probably about 18 hours after my symptoms started, it turned positive.” Arwady noted that while negative test results may not be the most reliable, those who do test positive should “treat a positive test as a positive.” “What I tell people is a negative at-home test is probably negative, unless you’re testing too early – meaning that the virus hasn’t yet had a chance to build up in your body,” she said. “The good news is, when the virus hasn’t had a chance to build up in your body, you’re less likely to be spreading COVID yet, but nevertheless, it means that the test can stay negative and this omicron variant moves so fast that we are seeing sometimes people it can take a day or two for those tests to turn positive. But I will take any positive though… we don’t see false positives on the at-home test, just to be clear. So any positive is a positive. And the negative is somewhat reassuring, but if you’ve had an exposure or you have new symptoms, there’s still a very good chance that it could be COVID.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “positive results from self-tests are highly reliable.” For those who are unsure, a PCR test may provide more accurate results earlier in an infection, experts say. “The laboratory testing outside of homes, the PCR testing, is a little more sensitive,” Arwady said. “Usually it will turn positive a little faster.” Those tests, however, can also indicate a positive result for infections that are no longer active. The CDC previously said people can test positive for up to three months after contracting an infection. For those who do test positive, the CDC recommends isolation for the first five days after symptom onset, which is when you’re likely to be the most infectious. After that, a well-fitting mask should be worn through day 10.

Heres What Medicare Part A Costs And Covers In 2023 69News WFMZ-TV
Here’s What Medicare Part A Costs And Covers In 2023 – 69News WFMZ-TV https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/heres-what-medicare-part-a-costs-and-covers-in-2023-69news-wfmz-tv/ Medicare helps tens of millions of Americans get necessary healthcare coverage in retirement. With coverage available at age 65 for most participants, the various parts of Medicare work together to provide comprehensive coverage for multiple types of healthcare needs. Under the traditional Medicare program, Part A offers hospital and inpatient-care services. Medicare Part A sees minor changes each year, and the government agency that administers the program recently announced what’s new for 2023. Here’s what participants can expect. What Medicare Part A offers you Medicare Part A coverage comes into play when you require a hospital stay or need to go to a skilled nursing facility. Under typical coverage, patients get coverage for medically necessary hospital stays, giving them a semi-private room and the medical treatment, services, tests, and prescription drugs needed to address the patient’s condition. Patients also qualify to receive meals during their stays. Image source: Getty Images. Medicare Part A is intended to provide the healthcare needed to resolve adverse health conditions fully. Stays of two days or more qualify for coverage, with the federal government financing extremely long stays, in many cases. It’s important to understand that Medicare Part A doesn’t cover long-term nursing-home stays. However, skilled nursing care does qualify, although for inpatient-facility costs to be covered, patients typically need to have had a related hospital stay of at least three days. As with hospital stays, Medicare’s intent with its skilled nursing-care coverage is to address conditions and get participants back to full health. Patients can also get access to some other services under Medicare Part A. These include home hospice care for terminally-ill patients, as well as home-provided care for other conditions when it’s medically necessary. Medicare Part A costs One big benefit of Medicare Part A is that most people are eligible to participate without having to pay a monthly premium. If you or your spouse paid into the Medicare program via payroll withholding for at least 10 years, you generally won’t have to pay for Part A coverage. Some people who don’t have 10 full years of work history will have to pay monthly premiums. Those working between 30 and 39 quarters will pay $278 per month in 2023, up $4 from 2022. Those with less than 30 quarters of eligible work history have to pay $506 per month, higher by $7 from year-earlier levels. If you need to use your Part A coverage during the year, there are additional costs under the program. A deductible of $1,600 for 2023 applies upfront before Medicare starts to cover costs. That’s $44 higher than it was in 2022. There are also copayments for many Part A services. After the deductible is met, Medicare provides full coverage for the first 60 days of a hospital stay. From the 61st day to the 90th, the copayment is $400 per day, up $11 from 2022. On the 91st day and beyond, you have 60 lifetime reserve days for which you’ll pay $800 per day in 2023, $22 higher than in 2022. The cost structure for skilled nursing-facility stays is similar. Copayments are $0 for the first 20 days, and then from the 21st day to the 100th day, patients have to pay $200 per day. That’s up by $5.50 per day from 2022. Beyond the 100th day, Medicare no longer offers coverage. Take advantage of Medicare Part A Retirees always have to take healthcare costs into consideration as a key expense in their retirement planning. Medicare Part A does a great job of covering many of those costs, but it doesn’t cover everything. By getting to know the program better, you can more accurately plan for your overall finances in retirement. Madison Heart Walk Works To Spread Awareness, Save Lives – WKOW https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/madison-heart-walk-works-to-spread-awareness-save-lives-wkow/ MADISON (WKOW) — Over 1,000 people walked for a cause that is both close to and beneficial for their hearts at Warner Park in Madison Saturday. The American Heart Association’s Madison Heart Walk encourages everyone to become champions of heart health through CPR training, regular checkups and living a healthy lifestyle. Sunita Murthy, Development Director for the Madison Heart Walk, has a personal connection to the walk. “I did lose my mother in 2020. She did have heart surgery bypass. And, my father’s had a couple of bypass surgeries as well,” Murthy said. Because of this, Murthy said she began participating and working for the organization to raise awareness and save lives. “Our mission is to be a relentless force to help people live longer lives, and healthier lives,” Murthy said. Dawn Mortimer, Chief Administrative Officer for Total Administrative Services Corporation, helped recruit walkers and donors for this year’s walk. The event’s mission also hits close to home for her. “My mother didn’t have her heart checked regularly, nor her glucose levels, and she ended up suffering a massive stroke about 13 years ago, which changed our lives,” Mortimer said. “About a month ago, she unfortunately passed away from cardiac disease.” Mortimer said her mom isn’t alone. She said someone in the U.S. suffers a heart attack or stroke every 40 seconds. But, she added the good news: both are preventable. “It’s all changed by just doing a few things: quitting smoking, getting up and moving, being active, eating smart and making sure you get your numbers checked– whether it be glucose, heart monitor, all of that,” Mortimer said. WKOW was a proud sponsor of the Madison Heart Walk. You can donate to the cause here.

This is the first true road game of the season for C.J. Stroud and the Buckeyes, so when the star quarterback threw an interception that led to an early Michigan State touchdown, the potential for a real test seemed to be in the air in East Lansing, Michigan.  But the crowd that was rocking early started to sense the game get away as Stroud and Ohio State scored touchdowns on all four of the ensuing drives after the interception. While Michigan State has struggled to move the ball consistently, the Buckeyes have capitalized on alignment errors by the Spartans defense and their wealth of pass-catching options — three Ohio State receivers have between 80 and 110 yards through just two quarters — to continue to pour on the points through the afternoon.  In total, Stroud has completed 15 of 18 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns to go with that interception while star running back TreVeyon Henderson, back in the lineup after missing last week’s win, has already totaled 117 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts.   Keep it locked here for live scores, updates, analysis and highlights from Ohio State at Michigan State. Mum Falls For Man 23 Years Younger After Forgetting To Change Tinder Age Setting – Daily Record https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/mum-falls-for-man-23-years-younger-after-forgetting-to-change-tinder-age-setting-daily-record/ A 48-year-old mum ended up falling in love with a man 23 younger than her – after forgetting to change her age limit settings on Tinder. Rachel Caudele was recently divorced when she met 25-year-old Alex Michael on the dating app in 2020. The pair immediately hit it off despite the significant age difference, and after chatting online for a bit, Rachel flew to New York to meet Alex for the first time in person. They had an ”instant connection”, with couple making it official not long after and moving in together. However, their relationship hasn’t been without its challenges. Five months into sharing a home together, Rachel found out Alex was messaging other women and nearly called it quits, Wales Online reports. But the couple have since worked through their issues and are now “rock solid” – adding that “age is just a number”. Rachel, a sign language director at an international school, who has two sons aged 23 and 19, said: “We had an instant connection, but there was something more than that. It’s like an energy. I can tell when he has a thought, and he can do the same with me, it’s really strange.” Alex, a website creator for pharmaceutical companies, said: “I definitely knew that it was different and unique with Rachel because she’s so much like me, she’s awesome. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made.” Rachel was recently divorced when she met Alex on the dating app. (Image: SWNS) Rachel was fresh from a recent divorce in September 2020 when she signed up for a dating app. She said: “I was in a new place and wanted to try something different. I was enjoying my freedom, and my friend convinced me to go on Tinder. I was very skeptical, and taken aback by the messages I received. ”I was getting unsolicited pictures, and I didn’t like it. Alex messaged me, and I just kept coming back to his picture. It sounds really cliché, but I thought he had kind eyes. We started chatting and the age question came up. ”When he told me he was 23 I was like ‘woah, that’s way too young, nothing is going to come of this’. He liked to talk on the phone, and his voice was very sexy and appealing to me. We had great conversations and lots in common. He’s literally like the male form of me.” Rachel Caudele (Image: SWNS) Alex, a website creator for pharmaceutical companies, added: “I happened to change my age range on Tinder, and matched with her. I thought, oh my god, she looks great for her age, she doesn’t look like she’s in her forties at all. She was super cool and genuine, she’s more than just a pretty face.” Rachel then flew out to New York, US, when she was on a break from her teaching job, where she met up with Alex for the first time. Alex borrowed his parents’ car to take Rachel to dinner. “I had to go home afterwards because I wasn’t allowed to have the car overnight,” Alex said. “We hit it off really well, but I remember saying to her ‘have a nice life’ because she was located in Texas and I was in New York, so I didn’t think anything would come of it.” However, the pair travelled together to Miami and Austin in October and November 2020, where they both realised their feelings for each other were strong. They officially began dating in December 2020, with Alex calling Rachel ”his girl”. “In January 2021, I went to Houston where Rachel was living,” Alex said. “I had a remote job and she asked if I wanted to live with her. I got a suitcase and never went back. We lived together for that whole year.” Five months into living together, Rachel discovered Alex had been messaging other women on social media. “He had never experienced those sorts of boundaries in a relationship before, and I felt heartbroken and betrayed,” Rachel said. “He has issues with anxiety, and female attention made him feel better. I wanted to leave the relationship, but I’m not a person who gives up easily.” The couple are fully committed to each other, despite disapproval from some relatives. (Image: SWNS) Alex added: “It was very wrong of me, what I did. I grew up with a lot of insecurities, and I didn’t get a lot of attention when I was younger. I wanted to experience that. I never had the intention of hooking up, I just wanted the attention.” Alex has since deleted his Instagram and Facebook and has worked hard to progress in his relationship with Rachel. “It helped me to come full circle and realise what the right thing to do is in relationships,” he said. The pair have also faced hard times due to backlash from their TikTok account, and disapproval from some friends and relatives. “We started sharing our story on social media in February 2021,” Alex said. “We based it around our age gap to start with, which was a niche we had that got us the following, but now we’ve progressed to more dating-style content.” The couple’s first Tik Tok video, ‘tips for dating a cougar’, blew up online. (Image: SWNS) The couple’s first video, ‘tips for dating a cougar’, blew up online and was on track to receive one million views. “I was in the gym and students from the school I taught at were coming up to me, so I told Alex to take the video down straight away,” Rachel said. Rachel’s eldest son found out about the relationship because a friend sent him the TikTok. “It was hard at first,” Rachel said. “But he respects it now, he just wants me to be happy. Oddly we have a lot of age gap relationships in my family, and they’re respectful of Alex and I.” Alex’s family on the other hand, disapprove of the couple and won’t support them. Rachel said: ”It’s very hard for him, they think it’s strange and that I’m grooming him, or some sort of a sexual predator. We’re literally a normal couple with a large age gap.” In January this year, the couple decided to take a break and see other people, but this only lasted for two weeks. “Sometimes you need to step away to realise you truly want something,” Alex said. Age gap couple Rachel Caudele and Alex Michael. (Image: SWNS) Despite their different ages, the couple don’t identify with terms such as ‘sugar baby’ or ‘cougar’. The couple say that pursuing a relationship like theirs is not easy, but their advice to others who might be in their situation is to “do what makes you happy”. Rachel said: “I don’t judge people, I just want people to know that’s not our thing. I would ask, ‘is it worth it to you?’ It’s not going to be the easiest thing, things outside the relationship will impact you like people thinking it’s weird or strange. “Age should not be the main factor, if you are both consenting adults with a connection – do it. If you find something so real like what we have, you should do it.” Alex said: “You shouldn’t let other people affect the decisions in your life. You only get one life after all.” Don’t miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond – sign up to our daily newsletter here. IMPT is a brand-new project that strives to use blockchain technology to make the world more sustainable. It is an excellent nominee for the “greenest” cryptocurrency of the year.  After only five days of the presale, the project’s native currency, the IMPT token, has already raised an incredible $2.1 million. 1 IMPT equals $0.018 in the first presale phase, and the network has already sold 109 million tokens. IMPT Presale – Source: impt.io IMPT – Best ESG-friendly Crypto to Buy Today By acquiring carbon credits, the equivalent of offsetting 1 ton of carbon, individuals and businesses can lower their impact on the environment through IMPT. To address the problems now confronting the sector, IMPT has decided to tokenize carbon credits.  This will eliminate any issues with double-spending tokens and greatly boost the industry’s openness. Several options exist for acquiring carbon credits. In the first place, you can get them from the IMPT market.  However, IMPT has partnered with over 10,000 brands to award users with IMPT tokens merely for buying, making it possible for anyone without access to a cryptocurrency exchange to get their hands on some. Carbon credits can be bought and exchanged with these tokens. IMPT Uses NFTs for Carbon Credits With IMPT, NFTs can be employed in a brand new context: as a form of carbon offset. Putting carbon credits on a blockchain makes them much harder to falsify than any other method. The public nature of the ledger makes it extremely difficult for carbon credits to be abused in any significant sense. It also ensures that they are constantly transparent, neither of which would be feasible without this system. IMPT Marketplace Carbon credits can be purchased, sold, and retired in the IMPT carbon marketplace. To create a market for carbon credits, NFTs are created. When used in carbon markets, blockchain technology eliminates the chance of double counting and fraud. An independent auditor checks all carbon credits on the IMPT platform to ensure they were generated per the Global Certification Protocols.  Carbon credit issuers and holders must complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) process. Moreover, the carbon trading platform IMPT operates on three tiers: First Tier Tokens for the IMPT platform can be obtained by anyone at Level 1 using cryptocurrency or fiat currency. The user can save these IMPT tokens and then use them to purchase carbon credits.  The blockchain-based NFTs will replace the carbon credits. Second Tier Users can trade and sell their carbon credit tokens on the market. Only IMPT tokens can be used to pay for goods and services, and users can either burn their carbon credit tokens to lower their carbon footprint and see an effect immediately or hold on to the tokens as an investment. Third Tier Users can buy and sell valuable NFTs obtained by burning carbon credit tokens in the third and final tier. The user who burnt the carbon credit tokens and the artist who designed the collectible NFT would each own a unique work of art. Week 8 Friday Night Roundups – The Atlanta Journal Constitution https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/week-8-friday-night-roundups-the-atlanta-journal-constitution/ Class 7A Carrollton 38, East Coweta 28 No. 4 ranked Carrollton responded to an early 7-3 deficit by building a 28-7 lead late in the third quarter before closing out a 38-28 win over visiting East Coweta to improve to 7-0 and open up Region 2 with the victory. Freshman quarterback Julian Lewis impressed in his first televised game with 22-of-32 passing for 215 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. East Coweta was also able to rack up more than 400 total yards of offense, including 234 passing yards by sophomore Christian Langford and a 147-yard rushing night by Martravion Bowles, but was ultimately hindered by a trio of interceptions. East Coweta missed a 42-yard field goal attempt on its opening possession and both teams started off shaky in the first region test of the season. Carrollton got a spark when Kelvin Hill secured his first of two interceptions at the Trojans’ own 9-yard line and the offense marched down the field to set up a 32-yard Freddy Perez field goal that gave them an early 3-0 lead. East Coweta answered with a 30-yard Bowles touchdown to take a 7-3 lead, but Lewis was able to get Carrollton the lead before the half with a 27-yard pass to Kiyon Cofer down the sideline that set up a 25-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Hicks. Following the touchdown, Carrollton executed a Andrew Albertus two-point conversion to Montreze Smith to make it an 11-7 advantage heading into the half. Carrollton expanded its lead with a strong third quarter that featured a 1-yard Hicks rushing score, a touchdown pass from Lewis to Jay Farmer and a 47-yard Perez field goal that made it 28-7. Christian Langford found Deliyon Freeman late in the quarter for an Indians touchdown and made it a two score game heading into the final frame. Hicks capped his outstanding performance with a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. He finished with 31 carries for 187 yards to go with his two touchdown runs and also had seven catches for 42 yards to go with his go-ahead touchdown reception before the half. East Coweta answered Hicks’ fourth quarter touchdown run with a Langford touchdown pass to Brady Tillman that cut the deficit back to 35-21, but Carrollton tacked on a 36-yard field goal to push the lead to 38-21 with just over four minutes left. Langford rushed for a 1-yard touchdown for the final tally and the Indians recovered the ensuing onside kick, but Smith came up with the game-clinching touchdown at the 34-yard line and Carrollton ran out the remaining clock. Milton 35, South Forsyth 28 Scott Moskowitz’s 87-yard touchdown run with five minutes left in the game gave visiting Milton a victory over South Forsyth. Moskowitz finished the night with eight carries for 119 yards and two scores. Debron Gatling starred on both sides of the ball for the Eagles, with six catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns to go along with an interception on defense. Milton quarterback Luke Nickel completed 18 of 24 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns. South Forsyth, which had leads of 7-0 and 14-7 in the first half and found itself tied going into the fourth quarter, got two passing touchdowns and one rushing score from quarterback Ty Watkins. Denmark 21, West Forsyth 10 Denmark quarterback Jacob Nelson returned to the field after halftime of the Danes’ Region 6 opener against visiting West Forsyth, his first action since his Week 1 injury, and connected with Aidan Brozena on back-to-back drives for a 14-3 third-quarter lead. Jack Tomlinson responded for the Wolverines with a touchdown pass to Brian Tawuo, and the 14-10 margin held until Amon Williams iced the game with a rushing score with just 0:23 remaining. Denmark improves to 5-1 with the win and will continue Region 6 play next week at home against South Forsyth. Marietta 14, Hillgrove 10 Marietta scored both of its touchdowns on fourth-down passes to get the home win. Joseph Moseley ended Hillgrove’s chances with an interception at the Blue Devils’ own 5-yard line on a deep pass with 44 seconds remaining. Marietta opened the scoring at the 9:21 mark in the first quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Chase McCravy to Isaiah Sanders on a 4th-and-3. Hillgrove countered in the second quarter with a 42-yard Zach Wieder field goal and a 19-yard interception return for a touchdown from Jameson McCollough to take a 10-7 halftime lead. Marietta took the lead again with 5:33 remaining in the third quarter when quarterback Daniel Gray found Devin Clark for a 13-yard score, also on 4th-and-3. McEachern 10, Harrison 7 McEachern scored all 10 of its points in the second half to erase a 7-0 halftime deficit and prevail at Harrison. After Lucas Wynn booted a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter to put the Indians on the scoreboard, Jayveon Campbell’s 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth proved to be the game-winner. Harrison’s touchdown came on a 2-yard throw from Braylan Ford to Brady Kluse late in the first quarter. Valdosta 13, Lowndes 6 Valdosta won a defensive battle on the road at Martin Stadium in the Winnersville Classic as Valdosta’s Jaylen Bentley intercepted Lowndes quarterback Marvis Parrish with 1:34 remaining to seal the win. Valdosta got a 19-yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper from Todd Robinson in the first quarter to pull ahead 6-3, as the two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful. Then with 1:41 remaining in the first quarter, Valdosta’s Ahmad Denson rushed 80 yards for a score to put the Wildcats ahead 13-3. Aiden Andrews made a field goal of 22 yards in the first quarter and 35 yards in the second quarter for Lowndes, which saw its five-game winning streak in the series get broken. Valdosta improved to 7-0. Wheeler 35, Cherokee 21 The Wildcats’ victory over Cherokee was fueled by 459 rushing yards as Wheeler outscored Cherokee 21-7 in the second half after being tied 14-14 heading into the break to pull away with the win. Wheeler attempted zero passes in the second half. Sophomore Josiah Allen was the focal point of the Wildcats’ offense, carrying the ball 22 times for 334 yards. Alongside Allen were junior Kentrell Brown and sophomore Marcus Romain. The trio combined for 242 second-half rushing yards. Lambert 40, Forsyth Central 14 The Longhorns remain undefeated on the year as they picked up their sixth win of the season against Forsyth Central. A pair of first-quarter rushing touchdowns by Cameron Bland — one coming off Lambert’s first series of the game — gave the Longhorns an early lead. Forsyth Central scored a touchdown in the second quarter off Lambert’s third turnover of the game, but a pair of field goals by Ryan Degyansky (21 and 47 yards) and a defensive touchdown kept Lambert ahead 27-7 at the half. On Lambert’s opening drive in the second half, James Tyre rushed in a 45-yard touchdown and later scored Lambert’s last touchdown of the game on a 9-yard pass to Brandon Jones. Westlake 27, Pebblebrook 11 Westlake won its fourth game in a row, going on the road to beat region rival Pebblebrook. Christian Peterson set the tone right away by taking the opening kickoff back to the Falcons’ 14-yard line, which led to a Jabari Jones touchdown run. Jai’Den Thomas added a 22-yard touchdown scamper later in the first quarter as the Lions built a 20-3 halftime advantage. Westlake eventually extended its lead to 27-5 with an RJ Johnson touchdown pass before Pebblebrook finally found the end zone for the first time late in the fourth quarter. Class 6A Roswell 58, Lassiter 0 Roswell quarterback K.J. Smith threw touchdown passes to Dylan Williams, Zeke Moore and Nykahi Davenport to lead the visiting Hornets over Lassiter. Davenport also had three rushing touchdowns in addition to the receiving touchdown, including a 96-yard rushing score in the second quarter to put Roswell ahead 14-0. Synkwan Smith added a rushing touchdown in the third quarter and one in the fourth, and Brett Gonda made a 33-yard field goal for Roswell, which led 28-0 at halftime. Allatoona 41, Woodstock 7 Allatoona got its first region win of the year with a 41-7 rout of visiting Woodstock (0-7, 0-3). Jayden Ponder took a 65-yard trip to the end zone on the first play of the game, and Saadiq Teel’s 26-yarder to AJ Fitts gave the Buccaneers a 14-0 first-quarter lead. RJ Guy scored from 12 yards out to start the second quarter before Ponder capitalized on BJ Cohen’s interception on the following Woodstock drive with a 41-yard touchdown. Tyler McGuire and Cam Phillips connected for a 35-0 Allatoona advantage before the break, and Guy added a rushing score late in the third quarter for the final Buccaneers touchdown. Blessed Trinity 34, Pope 6 After dropping from the rankings following last week’s loss to Roswell, Blessed Trinity rebounded with a 34-6 Homecoming win over visiting Pope to improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in Region 7 play. Quarterback Brooks Goodman connected with Zyon McKenzie for 38 yards and the first of the Titans’ three first-quarter touchdowns and found Bryce Lewis early in the second for a 28-0 lead. VP Harris Announces $100M Support For Minority Owned Firm – St. Louis American https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/vp-harris-announces-100m-support-for-minority-owned-firm-st-louis-american/ The U.S. Department of the Treasury celebrated its annual Freedman’s Bank Forum on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., in recognition of the 158th anniversary of the chartering of the Freedman’s Savings and Trust Company, commonly referred to as the Freedman’s Bank. The bank was created to provide economic opportunity for newly emancipated Americans, and the 2022 forum focused on ways to increase community and economic development and the role that Minority Depository Institutions play in broad-based economic growth and the financial health of all Americans.  Vice President Kamala Harris used the platform to announce a public and private-sector effort to advance racial economic equity. “Small businesses are the engines of our economy and the path to economic prosperity for countless Americans in underserved communities,” Harris said. “Community lenders – including MDIs, and others – are vital to unlocking the full economic potential of these communities, turning previously sidelined talent into a source of economic growth and shared prosperity for all.” Harris said Black-owned businesses routinely have more difficulty in finding funding, and acknowledged that “they are the first to suffer during an economic downturn.” Harris said the Small Business Administration (SBA) would propose a rule later this year to expand its lender base by lifting the moratorium on new Small Business Lending Companies. The action would allow new lenders to apply for a license to offer SBA-backed 7(a) small business loans. Also, the Minority Business Development Agency (MDBA) will issue a $100 million notice of funding opportunity to provide technical assistance grants for entrepreneurship technical assistance providers to help businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals launch, scale, and connect with growth capital. Harris said to facilitate greater availability of small-balance mortgages, and HUD would issue requests to solicit specific and actionable feedback on the barriers that prevent the origination of these mortgages and recommendations for increasing the volume of small-mortgage loans in federal programs. The White House said these and a host of other new policy steps follow two recent announcements by the administration of billions of dollars in investments for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs). The actions aim to deliver capital and resources to underserved small businesses and the community lenders who serve them, Harris stated. Janet Yellen, the U.S. Department of Treasury secretary, said the White House feels the Freedman’s Bank Forum is an excellent stage “to shine a spotlight on how the administration’s pandemic relief efforts supported Black – and minority-owned businesses.” Since its inaugural year in 2015, the forum has sought to develop strategies to help stamp out and overcome systemic racism in the financial industry. “Unfortunately, for too long, the small business ecosystem in underserved communities has struggled to keep up with better-funded businesses and entrepreneurs in more prosperous communities,” Harris stated. “Entrepreneurs of color regularly report being turned away by traditional financial institutions for loans at higher rates than their white counterparts. And the community lenders committed to filling that gap similarly report that shortfalls in capital and technical capacity limit their ability to invest in the communities that need them the most.” According to the Labor Dept., roughly 96% of Black-owned businesses are sole proprietorships and single-employee companies. These businesses have the hardest time finding funding and are often the first to suffer during economic downturns. They often turn to financial institutions for the underserved and other non-traditional lenders for micro-loans and grants. The new support for community finance institutions, small businesses and low wealth communities is “an effort to unlock the economic potential of communities of color, rural areas, and others that have experienced limits on economic opportunity,” the department said. Metro Briefs: Plymouth Gets Grant To Demolish Empty Shopping Mall – Star Tribune https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/metro-briefs-plymouth-gets-grant-to-demolish-empty-shopping-mall-star-tribune/ The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded Plymouth $775,000 in redevelopment grant funding to tear down the vacant Four Seasons Mall on the southwest corner of the Hwy. 169 and Rockford Road interchange. The city bought the 16-acre site from Walmart last year and plans to redevelop it with a six-story, 192-unit mixed-income apartment building, a second apartment building with 220 units, two retail buildings and a 32,000-square-foot office building. The city is working with Wellington Management to facilitate the development, which would also include a three-story Plymouth Metrolink park-and-ride. The project is anticipated to create 72 jobs, retain 60 jobs and increase the tax base by nearly $1.5 million, according to DEED. “I’m excited about this opportunity which will bring good jobs and housing to our community, improve public transit infrastructure, and increase our local tax base in Plymouth,” said state Rep. Ginny Klevorn, DFL-Plymouth. Tim Harlow Bloomington Grants available for rent-burdened communities Bloomington Public Health is offering grant funding to promote healthful living for tenants in rent-burdened communities — those who spend more than 30% of their household income on rent. Available grant awards range from $500 to $3,000, and are available to communities in Bloomington, Edina and Richfield. A total of $15,000, provided by the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP), will be administered by the tenant advocacy organization Home Line. Eligible projects will establish long-term changes that “[make] it easier for renters to make healthy choices,” according to the grant website. Examples include forming tenant groups to boost social connections, buying sports equipment for tenants to use or training tenant leaders to address housing problems. “This grant opportunity, it’s not intended for rental assistance, or any kind of that aspect,” said SHIP Coordinator Esther Mwangi. “It’s more of like helping foster social connectedness, the well-being of tenants and increasing opportunities for optimal health and well-being.” Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. The next application round begins Oct. 16 and lasts a month. Selected projects from that round will receive funding between December 2022 and December 2023. Katelyn Vue South St. Paul Library construction underway City, county, state and federal officials broke ground Tuesday on a new county library in South St. Paul, to be located on the corner of Marie and Seventh avenues. Dakota County Commissioners approved funding for the $11.3 million, 16,000-square-foot project — the 10th library in the county system — in early September. The county will use funding from the federal American Rescue Plan to pay for it. The existing South St. Paul library, one of only a handful of city-owned and run libraries in the metro area, will merge with the county system, including its collection and staff. The existing building will be repurposed, city officials said. The new library is scheduled to open in early 2024. Advocates for a new library have said the existing building doesn’t meet the community’s needs. It’s cramped and lacks the study and meeting rooms patrons want — and it would require major repairs. Still, some community members wanted to keep the old library, which they said was located in a historic building and had the feeling of a small-town library. Erin Adler

F1 Qualifying Results: Starting Grid For Japanese Grand Prix 2022 As Max Verstappen Claims Pole – Sporting News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/f1-qualifying-results-starting-grid-for-japanese-grand-prix-2022-as-max-verstappen-claims-pole-sporting-news/ Max Verstappen has claimed pole position for tomorrow’s Japanese Grand Prix but must face a steward’s investigation after narrowly managing to avoid a collision with Lando Norris during qualifying.  The Dutchman, who can claim the championship on Sunday, posted the quickest time after fending off the duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz from Ferrari. He finished just 0.010s clear of Leclerc, denying his rival what would have been his 10th pole finish of the season.  The main talking point from the qualifying stage occurred in the early stages of Q3, after Verstappen swerved left on a slow lap and almost crashed into Norris who had to steer onto the grass.  “There’s no rule on doing what you can do but doing what he did, is something you cannot do,” Norris said when speaking to Sky Sports after the qualifying session.  “People always overtake before the last corner – as much as everyone always agrees to it. “Everyone always does it. It doesn’t matter, he probably would’ve done the same in my situation, but I wouldn’t have swerved at him if I was in his situation.” Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez rounded out the top four, while it was a good day for Alpine with Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso climbing into the top eight.  Full classification from that memorable qualifying session!#JapaneseGP #F1 pic.twitter.com/aKzkAGRbbZ — Formula 1 (@F1) October 8, 2022 MORE: How can Max Verstappen be crowned F1 world champion at the Japanese Grand Prix? Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest news from today’s qualifying.   What must Max Verstappen do to be crowned F1 world champion this weekend? There are several ways in which Red Bull’s Verstappen could claim his second successive world championship victory at the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. The most simple would be if he won the race and took the extra point for fastest lap along the way. That would see the Dutchman crowned world champion irregardless of where his title rivals finish.  Verstappen could also be crowned champion if he finishes first, doesn’t record the fastest lap but Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finishes lower than P2.  Equally, if either Leclerc or teammate Sergio Perez finish ahead of him, Verstappen cannot be crowned champion in Japan.  The other complicated permutations can be viewed here. Apples CEO Bashes The Metaverse And Nvidias CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors The Motley Fool
Apples CEO Bashes The Metaverse And Nvidias CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors The Motley Fool
Apple’s CEO Bashes The Metaverse, And Nvidia’s CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors – The Motley Fool https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/apples-ceo-bashes-the-metaverse-and-nvidias-ceo-embraces-it-what-it-means-for-investors-the-motley-fool/ On a recent trip to Europe, Apple (AAPL -3.67%) CEO Tim Cook spoke with Dutch online media company Bright to discuss the future of technology. In the interview, Cook downplayed the metaverse, instead touting Apple’s focus on augmented reality (AR). Cook said that one day, we will all “look back and think about how we once lived without AR.”   Meanwhile, Nvidia (NVDA -8.03%) spent an entire week at its biannual GTC event for tech developers, and the metaverse consumed a large amount of the time. In fact, CEO Jensen Huang talks about the metaverse a lot, and how it will shape the future.   What in the name of metaverse originator Neal Stephenson is going on here? These debates about what the metaverse actually is and what it will do are becoming silly. Not to mention confusing for investors, let alone the everyday consumer, who is already overwhelmed by the rapid changes the world has undergone in the last few years.  What is the metaverse anyway? If you do a web search for “What is the metaverse?” you’ll get as many variations on the answer as the times you click on an article (including one from yours truly). But let’s let Jensen Huang settle it once and for all. In his keynote address at GTC 2022, he provided perhaps the simplest and most elegant definition to date: The metaverse is “the 3D internet.”  I really appreciate this description. Rather than trying to reinforce this notion that the metaverse is confusing and that no one wants it (like Cook did in the above-mentioned interview), Huang breaks it down into simple terms. If some web-based service or app you use has a three-dimensional element to it, let’s just call it “the metaverse.”  Cook’s comments about AR are perhaps the best clue we have that Apple is readying some sort of device, perhaps AR or virtual reality (VR) headsets (maybe — there’ll be an announcement in 2023). But if we view the metaverse through Huang’s simple take, Apple is getting involved with the metaverse, too, whether it likes it or not. AR and VR applications will be web-based, and many AR apps are already available on the Apple App Store. I’m calling it like I see it: Apple Metaverse.   It’s all marketing! Elementary, my dear Watson. If you’re still with me, let’s turn to this question: Why all the tech CEO disagreements on what the metaverse is and what kind of future it will have? If the metaverse is just a 3D representation of the internet, a technology we all use every day and absolutely can agree has a well-established definition, why jockey for attention by bashing it? Or hype the metaverse like it’s this brand-new shiny thing that’s being built from scratch? It’s simple: marketing.  Like any good “walled garden” business, Apple has a vested interest in putting down other companies’ technology efforts while championing its own. After all, why would Apple use such a term when Meta (META -4.04%), formerly Facebook, literally changed its name to a contracted form of “metaverse” to indicate its 3D web app future? Apple has gone to great lengths to try to weaken Meta’s (ahem, Facebook’s) hold on its iPhone users’ data.  In contrast, like any good “platform” business model that helps others build tech for themselves, Huang is being inclusive and touting how the metaverse can mean different things for different consumers and businesses. Thus the term “Omniverse” for its new cloud-based collaboration and development apps. If you’re a video game company, the metaverse might mean an immersive 3D game. If you’re a manufacturing company, the metaverse might mean a virtual re-creation of your factory used for planning purposes. And if you’re a medical college, the metaverse might mean an AR app that trains students how to practice medicine.   Someday, hopefully soon, we can all agree to call the 3D extension of the internet the same thing. Maybe it will be “the metaverse,” maybe it will be something else (like “3D internet,” or, I dunno, maybe just “the internet”).  But one thing is for sure: This thing we’re discussing is already here, and new capabilities using 3D virtual content are being developed. Any differences you hear in what all this is and what it means from various CEOs’ perspectives is simply marketing to get us all ready to buy into it.  Now it’s time for you, the investor, to decide which businesses you like best to capitalize on 3D virtualization. I, for one, think Apple and Nvidia both are pretty good bets. Crypto Mining Metrics Roundup: Bitcoin Production Slips In September Hashrate Climbs Seeking Alpha
Crypto Mining Metrics Roundup: Bitcoin Production Slips In September Hashrate Climbs Seeking Alpha
Crypto Mining Metrics Roundup: Bitcoin Production Slips In September, Hashrate Climbs – Seeking Alpha https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/crypto-mining-metrics-roundup-bitcoin-production-slips-in-september-hashrate-climbs-seeking-alpha/ luza studios Cryptocurrency miners saw a modest decline in the number of bitcoins (BTC-USD) mined in September vs. August, as an increase in the network hashrate and difficulty screamed trouble for profit margins. The so-called difficulty of mining is a closely watched metric in the crypto ecosystem. It measures how hard it is to mine a bitcoin (BTC-USD) block based on the amount of participants and computing power (hashing power) used to mine and secure the blockchain. A high difficulty (as a result of high hashing power), as is the case now, tends to lower miners’ profitability. Difficulty is currenting sitting around record highs at 31.36 trillion vs. 30.97 trillion a month ago, according to data from blockchain.com. The bitcoin (BTC-USD) network’s hashrate, which measures how much computing power is being used to process transactions on the blockchain, is standing at an all-time high of nearly 255 exahash per second, in a move that underscores margin compression in the mining industry, according to blockchain.com data. That’s up from 225 EH/s a month before. Despite a backdrop of a higher network hashrate and difficulty along with suppressed bitcoin (BTC-USD) prices, miners’ revenue has edged up in September, rising to $22.4M at the end of the month from $16.6M at the beginning of the month, as per blockchain.com data. Still, that’s down from $40.9M in the year-ago period. Overall, crypto miners’ bitcoin (BTC-USD) production ticked down 1.1% on average, while the hashrate jumped 10.6%, according to the table below. Some companies cited a shorter month as one of the key issues in less BTC production. Looking at the miners individually, Marathon Digital (MARA), CleanSpark (CLSK) and Iris Energy (IREN) were the only ones that produced more BTC than the prior month. Note the following miners have yet to report their September numbers: Hive Blockchain (HIVE), BitNile (NILE), Argo Blockchain (ARBK) and Greenidge Generation (GREE). Furthermore, most miners continued to sell their bitcoin (BTC-USD) holdings as capital dried up amid soaring power prices thus shrinking profit margins. During the month, Bitfarms (BITF) sold 544 BTC, Riot (RIOT) sold 300 BTC, CleanSpark (CLSK) sold 380 BTC, and Core Scientific (CORZ) sold 1,576 BTC. For Bitfarms (BITF), in particular, SA contributor Gary Bourgeault believes the company’s 10% drop in BTC production “may have been an anomaly.” “The key for BITF through the remainder of 2022 and early into 2023 will be the CPI release,” he added. “If things are shown to improve, high-growth assets are going to attract more investment, and BITF will benefit from that.” Take a look at the chart here to see how shares of miners have fared in September compared with bitcoin (BTC-USD). US Soccer President Tells CNN More Misconduct Cases Reported – Spectrum News NY1 https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/us-soccer-president-tells-cnn-more-misconduct-cases-reported-spectrum-news-ny1/ The U.S. Soccer Federation received three new reports of misconduct in the sport this week after details of systemic emotional abuse and sexual misconduct in the National Women’s Soccer League were revealed in an independent investigation, U.S. Soccer Federation President Cindy Parlow Cone told CNN. Parlow Cone was interviewed twice Friday by the television network and didn’t provide details of the new misconduct cases. She said the U.S. Center for SafeSport and other authorities have been made aware of the three new reports. “I’m also hoping that people do feel safe now to come forward or are … learning about where to come forward to report this because this is so important,” Parlow Cone told CNN. “We’re not going to be able to root it out unless more brave people come forward to tell us.” Five of 10 NWSL coaches either were fired or stepped down last season amid allegations of misconduct. More than 200 people were interviewed by investigators looking into the allegations of harassment and sexual coercion and abuse. The NWSL, U.S. Soccer, teams and individuals provided documents. The independent investigation, run by former acting U.S. Attorney General Sally Q. Yates and the law firm King & Spaulding, focused on three former coaches: Paul Riley, with the Portland Thorns and later the North Carolina Courage, Christy Holly of Racing Louisville and Rory Dames of the Chicago Red Stars. On Wednesday, the Portland Thorns dismissed a pair of team executives a day after owner Merritt Paulson removed himself from a decision-making role with the team. Chicago Red Stars owner Arnim Whisler also stepped back from his role, and Racing Louisville President James O’Connor apologized to fans and a former player who alleged she was sexually abused by Holly. On Friday, England and the U.S. women’s teams played a friendly before nearly 77,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. They wore teal armbands in solidarity with sexual abuse victims and together held a banner that read “Protect the Players” just before kickoff. The Yates report made numerous recommendations to prioritize player health and safety. U.S. Soccer also said it would immediately implement programs to protect players.

New McKinsey Technology Report Outlines Key Areas Of Opportunity For Media – FIPP https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/new-mckinsey-technology-report-outlines-key-areas-of-opportunity-for-media-fipp/ 08 October 2022 McKinsey’s 2022 Technology Trends Outlook report has now been published, and it cites some exciting areas of opportunity for the media industry. It found that the media and entertainment sectors at large display a high association with 7 out of 14 key technology trends, across what it defines as both the ‘Silicon Age’ and ‘Engineering Tomorrow’.  These include:  Advanced connectivity Applied AI Cloud and edge computing  Immersive-reality technologies Industrialising machine learning Trust architectures and digital identity Web3 The areas of next generation software development, future of mobility, and future of sustainable development, were also cited by the report as displaying a strong association with the media of today – and tomorrow.  Leading the charge into the metaverse… Immersive-reality technologies and the emergence of Web3 are two key trends that we’ve looked at a lot on the FIPP.com over the past few months.  Earlier this week, Hearst took over the OMNI Gallery in Soho, to launch its new experiential division HearstX. The department will oversee platforms and campaigns across the physical, VR, AR, and mixed experience spaces, with initiatives such as virtual influencers, VirtuELLE Reality fashion shoots, and a fully playable Cosmopolitan world already in place.  The McKinsey report states: ‘The ability to cater to increased data creation and the growth in the number of connected devices for consumers allow for better entertainment experiences as new devices (for example, AR and VR devices) enter the market.’ … and the practical application of NFTs One emerging technology that has undoubtedly been hotly debated in the media industry to date, is NFTs. While some have dismissed the phenomenon as nothing more than a passing fad, we’ve seen countless examples of mainstream publishers moving into this area with seemingly high levels of success. Having interviewed a broad range of experts in this area directly ourselves over the past 18 months, its clear that there is at least one broad consensus on non-fungibles: while today’s headline hype may not necessarily be here forever, the underlying technologies – and opportunities for digital monetisation they represent – are not going anywhere anytime soon. It’s a reality that the latest McKinsey report underlines, from both a consumer and B2B pov: ‘Web3 enables interoperable games and tokenized digital assets,’ says the report, ‘facilitating new gaming experiences and play-and-earn business models in which in-game rewards (for example, nonfungible tokens [NFTs], governance tokens) are distributed with different utilities.’ ‘Creation and ownership of digital media (for example, artworks, video content)—sold as NFTs—allow new business models and creative possibilities while providing artists with more control and, in some cases, ongoing perpetual royalties. There are additional insights into streaming, personalisation, and the evolving nature of events, and you can access the report in full here.

Washington Woman Killed In Las Vegas Stabbing Rampage – Centralia Chronicle https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/washington-woman-killed-in-las-vegas-stabbing-rampage-centralia-chronicle/ Emma Epperly / The Spokesman-Review A Spokane woman was one of two killed in a random Las Vegas stabbing spree Thursday morning. Six people remain hospitalized. Maris DiGiovanni, 30, died of her wounds Thursday, the Clark County coroner’s office told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. DiGiovanni graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 2010 before going on to attend Washington State University, where she graduated in 2014. She married Cole Jordan in 2017. “Maris loved the beauty of life, and lived it to the fullest without limitations,” her family wrote in a statement. “She was an authentic and caring friend, a devoted wife, a kick-ass sister, and a loving daughter.” She was one of eight people stabbed just before noon Thursday on the Las Vegas strip, according to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Yoni Barrios, 32, was arrested shortly after the stabbings and booked into Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of murder with a deadly weapon and six counts of attempted murder. The arrest report said Barrios began stabbing people when he tried to take a photo with women dressed as showgirls. According to the Review-Journal, DiGiovanni was among four women posing as showgirls. The newspaper, citing the arrest report, wrote that witnesses said Barrios was dressed in a chef’s jacket and holding a large knife. He said he was selling knives. One of the women said she was uncomfortable with Barrios’ proposal and backed away, only to be stabbed in the back, according to the police report. Barrios then stabbed DiGiovanni before running down the strip and stabbing several others, according to the report. Also killed was Brent Hallett, 47. “This was an isolated incident,” Deputy Chief James LaRochelle wrote. “All evidence indicates Barrios acted alone.” The department said it’s unclear what motivated the attack. Three of the victims remained in critical condition Thursday night while the rest were stable. DiGiovanni loved to travel, “making friends and leaving ripples of love” everywhere she visited, her family said in a statement sent by her brother, Gage DiGiovanni. After traveling to dozens of countries, DiGiovanni and her husband lived in Hong Kong for a time before moving to Las Vegas, the family said. “Maris always saw the best in people, always gave them a chance, and always accepted people for who they were. Her huge capacity for love led her to have lasting friendships from all over the world,” her family wrote. “She was a beautiful spirit and soul, and we will miss her for the rest of our lives.” A GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses was created Friday afternoon. Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Sabrina Schnur contributed to this report.

9 Best Snacks At Disney World And Where To Find Them – TravelAwaits https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/9-best-snacks-at-disney-world-and-where-to-find-them-travelawaits/ From savory spring rolls and giant pretzels to sweet treats and refreshing frozen delights, we could easily snack our way through Disney World! We know a group of Disney experts who’ve devoured countless Disney World snacks — for the good of the public. Seana Beard from Wish Upon a Star with Us Travel, Laura Liden from travel agency Pixie and Pirate Destinations, Chris Cook-Leitz, owner of On The Road Travel, and Magical Vacation Planner Sarah Armbruster dish on their favorite Disney World snacks. And don’t worry, they tell you where to find them. Pro Tip: Save time at select quick-service dining locations by ordering food and beverages in advance on the My Disney Experience app. Egg rolls from the Egg Roll Wagon located just outside of Adventureland in Magic Kingdom Photo credit: Seana Beard 1. Cheeseburger Spring Rolls Spring Roll Cart, Magic Kingdom “These tasty delights are a bit of an anomaly. Cheeseburger Spring Rolls are not always available, as the menu of this cart can change daily. … When they are available, they sell out fast. So if you see an unusually long line at a random food cart in Adventureland, it may just be for these.” — Liden “These are not your typical theme park snack. You get two egg rolls for under $10, and they offer two flavors: their staple Cheeseburger Egg Roll and the ‘special.’ In the past, the ‘special’ has been Philly cheesesteak, Buffalo chicken, and even pepperoni pizza. We try to stop here every time we are in Magic Kingdom.” — Beard Gideon’s Bakehouse handmade small-batch cookies are now available at Disney Springs. Photo credit: Gideon’s Bakehouse / WDW News 2. Gideon’s Bakehouse From Scratch Cookies Gideon’s Bakehouse, Disney Springs “Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs offers freshly baked cookies and cakes as well as cold brews. It is a newer addition to Disney Springs and often has hours-long waits and a virtual queue. All the cookies are a half-pound treat, and I haven’t tried one I didn’t like. The menu can change daily with seasonal offerings.” — Liden Can’t make it to Disney? Try making this copycat recipe at home. Pineapple, lemon, and orange DOLE Whip flight Photo credit: Seana Beard 3. DOLE Whip Swirls on the Water, Disney Springs “There is no competition when it comes to DOLE Whip. The tried and true is the pineapple DOLE Whip, best eaten while exotic birds serenade you in the Enchanted Tiki Room. However, you can now indulge at Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs. Here, you can try three flavors by ordering a DOLE Whip flight, or pick a favorite flavor and make it a meal in the DOLE Whip Pineapple Vanilla Nachos (with waffle cone chips)!” — Beard Psst…here’s a copycat recipe for DOLE Whip, too! Pro Tip: Ask for extra icing on your warm cinnamon roll. Photo credit: Sarah Armbruster 4. Warm Cinnamon Roll Gaston’s Tavern, Magic Kingdom “We love to hit Gaston’s Tavern to refuel after our early morning Rope Drop! Gaston’s is great for coffee and snacks, but you can not pass on the cinnamon roll. This huge pastry is big enough for two (or three). We pair it with LeFou’s Brew (a frozen juice concoction) for a real treat!” — Beard “A cinnamon roll from Gaston’s Tavern (not that kind of tavern) in Magic Kingdom is big enough to share, but so delicious that you might not want to. These warm pillows of deliciousness are made fresh throughout the day and served warm. Some guests enjoy their cinnamon roll with a cup of coffee, while others choose LeFou’s Brew, which is a frozen beverage made from apple juice. Mobile ordering is not available here, but trust me, the cinnamon roll is worth standing in line.” — Cook-Leitz Caramel corn is made fresh throughout the day at Karamell-Kuche. Photo credit: Chris Cook-Leitz 5. Caramel Corn Karamell-Küche, EPCOT “My favorite snack at Walt Disney World can be found at Karamell-Küche at EPCOT. Sweet, buttery, and crunchy, the caramel corn here is the best. Featuring Werther’s Original caramel, it’s made by hand right in the shop, and, quite often, you get it while it’s still warm.  “Located in the Germany pavilion, caramel covers everything here: apples, cookies, nuts, marshmallows, and more. If you’re not a fan of caramel corn, try the caramel pecan cluster or the caramel square — they will not disappoint. Karamell-Küche has mobile ordering available, so you don’t even have to stand in line to get this delicious caramel corn.” — Cook-Leitz 6. Mr. Kamal’s Seasoned Fries Mr. Kamal’s Kiosk, Animal Kingdom “My very favorite snack right now is Mr. Kamal’s fries from Mr. Kamal’s snack kiosk. You can find this kiosk when traveling between Africa and Asia in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. These seasoned fries are just a savory junkie’s delight!  “I love to grab this one with an ice-cold beverage of choice on a hot afternoon and then try to snag a spot at one of the tables directly behind Mr. Kamal’s right on the water…heavenly!” — Armbruster Cheshire Cat Tail Snack Photo credit: Sarah Armbruster 7. Binx Pastry Tail Cheshire Café, Magic Kingdom “I love the ‘cat tail’ pastry snack! Sweet and yummy, this snack can be found at the Cheshire Café as you head left behind Cinderella’s Castle and into Fantasyland. It is a chocolate chip pastry drizzled with pink and purple icing — as if to mimic its namesake. Looks like a pink and purple cat tail, tastes like chocolate chip perfection!” — Armbruster BaseLine Tap House’s Bavarian pretzel is “infinitely better than a snack cart pretzel,” according to Cook-Leitz. Photo credit: Chris Cook-Leitz 8. Bavarian Pretzel BaseLine Tap House, Hollywood Studios “BaseLine Tap House is where you will find this Bavarian pretzel served with beer cheese fondue and spicy mustard. Located in Hollywood Studios, this is a great place to stop for a mid-afternoon snack. The pretzel is not your typical mass-produced pretzel — it’s buttery and salty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. This is not a snack cart pretzel – it’s 100 times better. The beer cheese has a sharp edge to it and the mustard is a little on the spicy side, so if you don’t like either, the pretzel is perfectly yummy by itself.  “BaseLine has an extensive beer menu, a few ciders and wines, and a full bar. There is very little indoor seating here, but there is quite a bit of outdoor seating available.” — Cook-Leitz Colossal Pretzel from Pongu Pongu in Animal Kingdom Photo credit: Sarah Armbruster 9. Na’vi-sized Pretzel Pongu Pongu, Animal Kingdom “My family and I love the Na’vi-sized Pretzel with beer cheese! This one can be found at Pongu Pongu in Pandora — the World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We love to grab one of these, usually with a Night Blossom drink as we head off on the Flight of Avatar ride. “This one is a snack we usually share, but if you have the appetite for it, I am sure you could eat one all on your own. The pretzel is always done just right, and the cheese sauce is not the typical ‘plastic’ cheese — it is beer cheese, and it is delicious! I think I need to work on booking another trip for myself now — I am craving one of these!” — Armbruster Rosa Regale sparkling wine at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs Photo credit: Laura Liden Bonus: Banfi Rosa Regale Sparkling Red Wine Amorette’s Patisserie, Disney Springs “A flute of Rosa Regale sparkling wine topped with a chocolate Minnie treat is Amorette’s Patisserie [signature] drink. Located in Disney Springs, this bakery is filled with sinful desserts as well as sandwiches and crêpes. You can even order signature Mickey Character Cakes for any celebration.” — Liden Related Reading: 12 Best Disney World Quick-Service Restaurants According To Insiders 12 Amazing Walt Disney World Restaurants According To Disney Travel Experts 10 Amazing Restaurants To Try In Disney Springs

Poor Staff Recruitment Affecting Promotion Of Decent Work Ghana Business News
Poor Staff Recruitment Affecting Promotion Of Decent Work – Ghana Business News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/poor-staff-recruitment-affecting-promotion-of-decent-work-ghana-business-news/ Madam Edith Amenuvor, Volta Regional Secretary of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has advocated for staff retention to help promote decent work. She said the nation’s staff recruitment should be readjusted in line with the Conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). Madam Amenuvor was addressing a programme by the Young Urban Women’s Movement, an offshoot of nonprofit Action Aid Ghana, to mark the 2022 World Day for Decent Work, held October 7. She said the inability to promptly replace retiring or removed staff burdened workers of both private and public sectors, as a few did the work of a multitude. The TUC Regional Secretary noted how the lack of jobs enabled the exploitation of the workers, with women and girls most affected. She said a high informal work sector made it near impossible to ensure decent work structure and called for workers there to consider unions in their quest to be seen and accorded their deserved rights. Madam Amenuvor said decent work remained a human right obliged by the ILO and stipulated by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the government needed focus on creating more work avenues, noting how the lack of created joblessness and its itinerant social injustices. She said employers must readily lay off retiring staff and replace them with strong fresh hands, while training and higher institutions should produce people fit for the job market. The TUC Regional Secretary said students should also be trained to enable them to create their own job and help expand employment avenues. Mr John Terkpertey, Regional Labour Officer, said total compliance with the laws of the ILO would help create the needed peace, security and tranquility at the workplace. He said the responsibility of the employer in the right conditions and enumerations to workers must be highly considered, while workers must also uphold their duties of diligent service and punctuality. Mr Terkpetey called on workers of the informal sector to consider the promotion of unions, which he said played major in addressing work-related challenges. The celebration had members of the Young Urban Women’s Movement and some leaders of various informal associations in attendance. There were drama skits by members of the Young Urban Women Movement to promote entreprenuership and decent work, and products by the women were on display. Selase Donudenu, Head of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Business Advisory Center in the Ho Municipality, led a session on entrepreneurship and SME support, and engaged the young women on their challenges withing the entrepreneurial space. Mawunyo Aziave, a consultant with Action Aid, who led the celebration, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said it had become necessary to pinpoint the day as the world of worked still reeled from the blow of the coronavirus pandemic. She said ActionAid sought to empower workers to speak out and help ensure the deserved working conditions and added that the celebration counted among efforts to get the nation’s leadership to ratify Convention 190 of the ILO, which focuses on workplace sexual harassment. The Young Urban Women Movement was begun in 2013 and had more that 700 members in the Ho Municipality and the Adaklu districts where local branches have been established in the Volta Region.
