SEC Discloses Enforcement Actions On Stock Market Misconduct – Business News – Dailymirror.lk https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/sec-discloses-enforcement-actions-on-stock-market-misconduct-business-news-dailymirror-lk/ By Nishel Fernando   The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has undertaken enforcement actions against market misconduct involving some high-profile investors and an investment advisor.  The capital market regulator on its website recently published the enforcement actions taken against market misconduct such as insider dealing and market manipulation.  Accordingly, SEC revealed action taken against high-net-worth investor Nimal Perera on account of creating a false market or misleading appearance of active trading in the shares of Regnis Lanka PLC (REG) and ASCOT Holdings PLC 11 years ago.  SEC said upon a request filed by Perera, the Commission decided to compound him, without an admission of liability for the offences with a payment of Rs.3.3 million on each count to the Compensation Fund of the SEC. Meanwhile, SEC issued a letter of warning on September 2, 2022 to Cargills (Ceylon) PLC Deputy Chairman/CEO V.R Page under insider dealing category. “The SEC issued a letter of warning for the conduct that created an appearance of insider trading into the trading activity in the voting shares of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, prior to a dividend announcement,” the SEC noted. Further, SEC issued a warning letter to Buddhika Payou on August 17 for a conduct related to suspected price/market manipulation in the shares of On’ally Holdings PLC (ONAL) during the period June/July of 2011 in the capacity of an investment advisor. Also, SEC issued letters of warning on 11th of January this year to A. S. Hendavitharana, Dr. N. A. Senadeera,  P.H.K. Boteju, I. P. A. Piyatissa, W. M. N. P. Rathnayaka, A.J.M.Y.B. Serasinghe,  K.A.D.A. Meththasena, H.J.M.D.N. Bandara and  W.R. Dharmasena for their alleged involvement in contributing to the creation of an appearance of false market by their purchase of one share each in the shares of Browns Investments PLC (BIL) during the period 01st December 2020– 15th January 2021. The SEC also said it pursued enforcement actions against K. Boralessa, A. Medonza and J. M. Alles for their failure to make immediate disclosure of material information relating to the financial crisis faced by Magpek Exports Ltd. However, the SEC is yet to disclose information regarding any convictions. According to SEC’s publication policy, it can indefinitely withhold details on convictions from the public. President Ranil Wickremesinghe recently raised concerns on the country’s stock market highlighting alleged market manipulations that take place at the Colombo Stock Exchange. The new SEC Act has given wide range of powers to the SEC to act against market offences by modernising the legal framework.

Parliament Urged To Expedite Passage Of Aged Persons Bill Modern Ghana
Parliament Urged To Expedite Passage Of Aged Persons Bill – Modern Ghana https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/parliament-urged-to-expedite-passage-of-aged-persons-bill-modern-ghana/ Social News Professor Mavis Dako-Gyeke, Director of Centre for Ageing Studies, College of Humanities, University of Ghana, has urged the Parliament of Ghana to expedite the passage of the Aged Persons’ Bill into law. She said the Bill when passed would highlight the principal guidelines for the holistic care of older persons. Professor Dako-Gyeke said this when she addressed the media ahead of the United Nations International Day of Older Persons. The Day, which is celebrated on every October 1, seeks to raise awareness on the importance of improved care and living conditions of older persons. This year’s day would be commemorated on the theme, “Resilience of Older Persons in a Changing World.” Professor Dako-Gyeke said the theme highlighted the resilience of older persons in the face of environmental, social, economic and lifelong inequalities. “Extant research on older persons in Ghana report that chronic ailments, geriatric-specific situations, isolation and neglect, and ageism constitute some of the challenges experienced by older persons. To overcome these challenges, older persons may have to adopt certain coping strategies to become resilient,” she added. She stressed that it had become necessary to devote time to focus on ageing-related issues to unearth solutions that could enhance their overall wellbeing. Professor Dako-Gyeke, therefore, called on government and other stakeholders to explore the use of policies and legal framework to ensure that older persons maintained resilience and improved their quality of life. She urged society, especially young people, to pay attention to older persons and assist them, saying, in future, old age would catch up with them as well. She said the Centre had also been training health workers and caregivers in elderly care as well as had been undertaking outreaches programmes for the elderly. Dr Frank Dzifa Kpesenu, National Programme Coordinator for Healthy Ageing Programme, Family Health Division, Ghana Health Service, said the Service was training specialised health workers who would handle older persons at district hospitals. He said it was to ensure that older persons were treated with outmost care and dignity at health centres. Dr Kpesenu added that as parts of efforts to improve healthy living among older persons, the Service was ensuring they had access to curative services of common diseases. GNA

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Kansas City Chiefs in a cross-conference Week 4 battle on Sunday Night Football. Tampa Bay is 2-1 this season, though the Buccaneers suffered a 14-12 loss to the Green Bay Packers last week. Kansas City is also 2-1 this season with a 1-1 road record, falling to the Indianapolis Colts by a three-point margin in Week 3. Kickoff is at 8:20 p.m. ET. Tampa Bay is favored by one in the latest Chiefs vs. Buccaneers odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, is 46.5. Here are several NFL odds and betting lines for Chiefs vs. Buccaneers: Chiefs vs. Buccaneers spread: Buccaneers -1 Chiefs vs. Buccaneers over/under: 46.5 points  Chiefs vs. Buccaneers money line: Chiefs +105, Buccaneers -125  KC: The Chiefs are 11-12 against the spread in their last 23 games  TB: The Buccaneers are 12-10 against the spread in their last 22 games  Chiefs vs. Buccaneers picks: See picks here Featured Game | Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Why the Chiefs can cover Kansas City has one of the best players in the NFL in Patrick Mahomes at the most important position on the field. Mahomes, a former MVP and four-time Pro Bowl selection, has 857 passing yards, eight touchdown passes and only one interception this season. He ranks in the top eight of the league in completion rate (67.9%) and net yards per pass attempt (7.6), with elite marks elsewhere. Mahomes is No. 4 in the league with a 76.2 QBR and No. 3 in the league with a 112.1 passer rating, with a 14-2 mark in the last 16 games against NFC teams.  With Mahomes on the field, the Chiefs are on a 12-game winning streak against NFC foes, and he is averaging 311.4 passing yards with 42 touchdowns in 16 games against the opposing conference. Mahomes is also backed by an uber-elite pass catcher in Travis Kelce, and the seven-time Pro Bowler has a receiving touchdown in five straight road games. Kelce is No. 6 in the history of the NFL in receiving yards by a tight end (9,286), and he has 30 career 100-yard receiving games, third-most by a tight end in league history. Why the Buccaneers can cover Tampa Bay’s defensive prowess is impressive. No team has allowed fewer points than the Buccaneers, giving up only 27 points across three games. The Buccaneers also lead the league in points allowed per drive (0.75), turnovers created (8), and turnover rate (22.2%). Havoc-creation is helpful, but the Buccaneers are also rock-solid, ranking No. 4 in the NFL in yards allowed per game (289.0) and yards allowed per drive (24.1). Tampa Bay is No. 2 in first downs allowed (44), with three passing touchdowns allowed compared to five interceptions. The Buccaneers are giving up only 4.9 net yards per pass attempt and are yielding only 79.3 rushing yards per game. Tampa Bay has not allowed a rushing touchdown this season and opponents are averaging only 3.8 yards per carry. The Chiefs struggle to run the ball, averaging only 93 yards per game and 4.1 yards per carry, and Tampa Bay can bank on that while attempting to slow Patrick Mahomes. How to make Chiefs vs. Buccaneers picks on SNF SportsLine’s model is leaning Over on the point total, with the model calling for 48 points. Tesla CEO Elon Musk‘s ex-girlfriend Grimes says that Meta Platforms Inc META CEO Mark Zuckerberg isn’t the right person to run the metaverse. On Friday, Aug. 26, she went on Twitter to say Zuckerberg is “under qualified” to launch the metaverse.  Claire Boucher, the Canadian musician known as Grimes, expressed concerns about Zuckerberg overseeing the virtual world.  She also mocked Zuckerberg’s metaverse avatar and said, “this is bad art,” and even an indie game looks better than this.  If zuck “oversees the Metaverse” it is dead and people who care about art and culture are building something else. also this is bad art The quality of this image alone speaks to how wildly under qualified he is to build alternate reality, literally every indie game looks better https://t.co/n8Cuv4f0uJ pic.twitter.com/0G46MlWIP2 — 𝔊𝔯𝔦𝔪𝔢𝔰 (@Grimezsz) August 26, 2022 Grimes spoke about Zuckerberg in response to his recent interview with Joe Rogan.   Last week, Zuckerberg shared a photo of his avatar on his Facebook page, and people reacted by creating memes. In response, he went on Instagram to introduce a new avatar.   Also Read: Zuckerberg Won’t Be Deposed: Meta’s Facebook Agrees To Settle Cambridge Analytica Data Privacy Lawsuit Zuckerberg has been advocating for the metaverse for quite a long time. Recently, he said the metaverse is a “massive opportunity” for several reasons, and he feels strongly that developing metaverse platforms will “unlock hundreds of billions of dollars.” Last year, Grimes  launched a series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called the “WarNympth Collection.” The 10 NFTs brought in over $5.8 million, selling out just in under 20 minutes. An avid video game and sci-fi lover, Grimes recently tweeted that she wants to modify her ears to look more elf-like.  Also, has anyone done elf ear mods with a good outcome? US And Israel Launch High-Level Tech Talks Washington Concerned About Chinese Influence The Epoch Times
US And Israel Launch High-Level Tech Talks, Washington Concerned About Chinese Influence – The Epoch Times https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/us-and-israel-launch-high-level-tech-talks-washington-concerned-about-chinese-influence-the-epoch-times/ The United States and Israel engaged in their first meeting of “U.S.-Israel Strategic High-Level Dialogue on Technology” initiative on Sept. 28 aimed at establishing a partnership on emerging and critical technologies between the nations. The countries agreed to support research and implementation of a “trustworthy AI in healthcare,” including “fair AI-driven health systems” as well as boosting the ability of health researchers to test the impacts of medicines and treatments, according to a Sept. 30 White House Fact Sheet. They will also explore ways to use AI to develop new crop varieties, including seeds that have a “stronger tolerance to climate change.” Next month, Israel and the United States plan on signing a Memorandum of Understanding seeking to strengthen cooperation in biomedical research like molecular and genomic medicine. They will work together on global health security and pandemic preparedness. Climate change technology initiatives will include support for renewable hydrogen and solar energy, extreme weather prediction and disaster risk reduction initiatives, and cooperation on battery supply chains. “The joint research with the US has been only 19 percent of Israel’s research with other countries, as opposed to 56 percent for Europe,” said Farkash-Hakohen, Israel’s minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, according to a Sept. 29 press release by Israel’s foreign ministry. “Good partners and allies, like Israel and the US, need and can take significant steps to increase the scope of the joint research that constitutes the basis for high-tech and that is what we are currently doing.” The Dialogue was agreed upon by President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid in July. The Sept. 28 meeting was held in Washington between U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan and Israeli national security advisor Dr. Eyal Hulata. The next meeting will be held in Israel in 2023. Countering Chinese Influence The push to deepen tech cooperation between Israel and the United States comes amid concerns about rising Chinese influence in the Middle Eastern nation’s technologies. During the Trump administration, Washington pressured Israel to set up a review process aimed at allowing government officials to block deals in the case of national security concerns. While Israel did set up the review process in 2019, the tech industry was left out of it. During the Sept. 28 meeting, the United States and Israel agreed on a plan to manage risks to their technology ecosystems, including investment screening. A 2020 study by global policy think tank RAND Corporation found that the security risks of Chinese investments and construction could affect the relationship between the United States and Israel. It pointed out that the interests of China and Israel in the Middle East are incompatible and warned that Chinese Communist Party investments and construction projects in Israel could result in cyber espionage as well as the leaking of sensitive technology. In an interview with Bloomberg, Ehud Levy, a general partner at Canaan Partners Israel and also a partner at China’s Lenovo Capital, said that even though Washington has not succeeded in getting Israeli startups to fully adopt its policy agenda, the United States has succeeded in convincing several entrepreneurs to pick sides. “If you have a term sheet from a Chinese investor and you have a term sheet from a US investor, the CEO is going for the safe option,” Levy said. “It’s not like a governmental guidance or anything like that. It’s purely a commercial decision.” Follow Naveen Athrappully is a news reporter covering business and world events at The Epoch Times.

Thank you to our students, families and employees for doing their part in the ongoing recovery from this cyberattack. pic.twitter.com/K8VhiFmSbL — Alberto M. Carvalho (@LAUSDSup) October 2, 2022 The information was released Saturday — two days before a deadline previously given by the hackers — in an apparent response to LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho’s stated refusal to pay ransom to an international hacking syndicate, the Los Angeles Times reported. The newspaper said it reviewed screenshots from the hack that appeared to show some Social Security numbers, but the full extent of the release was not clear. District spokeswoman Shannon Haber would not confirm the release when reached by City News Service on Sunday. The group claiming responsibility for the cyberattack had set a Monday deadline for the district pay a ransom to the organization. In a dark web post detected and reprinted by Brett Callow of the cybersecurity firm Emsisoft, the hacking syndicate Vice Society listed the LAUSD as one of “our partners,” and stated, “The papers will be published by London time on October 4, 2022 at 12:00 a.m.” The post did not give any indication about what information had been obtained or what would be published. Carvalho previously acknowledged that the district received a ransom demand from the group responsible for the Labor Day weekend hack — which he declined to name. “We can acknowledge … that there has been communication from this actor (hacker) and we have been responsive without engaging in any type of negotiations,” he told reporters. “With that said, we can acknowledge at this point … that a financial demand has been made by this entity. We have not responded to that demand.” He did not provide specifics about the demand. Carvalho told The Times on Friday the district will not pay the ransom demand or negotiate with the hackers. “What I can tell you is that the demand — any demand — would be absurd,” he told the Times. “But this level of demand was, quite frankly, insulting. And we’re not about to enter into negotiations with that type of entity.” The district issued a statement Friday afternoon acknowledging the threatened information dump, and indicated it is “diligently working with investigators and law enforcement to determine what information was impacted and to whom it belongs.” Carvalho re-tweeted the statement Sunday, adding the following brief message: “Thank you to our students, families and employees for doing their part in the ongoing recovery from this cyberattack.” After discovering the hack, LAUSD officials took the extraordinary step of shutting down most of its computer systems while they worked to assess the full extent of the cyber intrusion. Systems were then slowly brought back online. Carvalho said earlier the hackers appeared to have planted a series of digital “tripwires” that could have disabled more systems, so the district was being cautious about bringing computers back online. No classes or other district operations have been impacted by the cyberattack, officials said. Students and staff, however, have been forced to reset their district passwords — a monumental task for the nation’s second-largest school district. District officials said earlier that the attack temporarily interfered with the LAUSD website and email system. But officials said employee health care and payroll were not affected, nor did the hack impact safety and emergency mechanisms in place at schools. It was unclear whether the receipt of a ransom demand weeks after the initial attack was an indication the hackers obtained or could potentially obtain more sensitive information. Carvalho said officials do not believe any highly sensitive information was accessed. “This entity did touch our MiSiS (My Integrated Student Information) System, which contains student information,” Carvalho said. “To the best of our knowledge at this point … we believe that some of the data that was accessed may have some students’ names, may have some degree of attendance data, but more than likely lacks personally identifiable information or very sensitive health information or Social Security number information.” He said there is no sign that any sensitive employee information was accessed. “This is the sad but new reality we are facing,” Carvalho told reporters. “We are on one hand attempting to understand how the breach took place — was it human error, meaning someone unknowingly responded to a phishing email that allowed unauthorized access, or was it a systemic failure on the part of a third-party entity that is connected to our system that opened the door?” In its Friday statement, district officials said, “To our school community and partners, we will update you when we have relevant information and notify you if you personal information is impacted, as appropriate. We also expect to provide credit monitoring services, as appropriate, to impacted individuals. “… Los Angeles Unified remains firm that dollars must be used to fund students and education. Paying ransom never guarantees the full recovery of data, and Los Angeles Unified believes public dollars are better spent on our students rather than capitulating to a nefarious and illicit crime syndicate. We continue to make progress toward full operational stability for several core information technology services.” Following the hack, the district contacted federal officials, prompting the White House to mobilize a response from the U.S. Department of Education, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, according to the LAUSD. Hackers have released some data stolen in a cyberattack against the Los Angeles Unified School District, according to a newspaper report today. The data were released Saturday — two days before a deadline previously given by the hackers — in an apparent response to LAUSD Superintendent Alberto Carvalho’s stated refusal to pay ransom to an international hacking syndicate, the Los Angeles Times reported. The newspaper said it reviewed screenshots from the hack that appeared to show some Social Security numbers, but the full extent of the release was not clear. District spokeswoman Shannon Haber would not confirm the release when reached by City News Service on Sunday. VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS OCTOBER 2 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS OCTOBER 2 – VietNamNet https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/vietnam-business-news-october-2-vietnamnet/  The Dung Quat oil refinery produced about 5.18 million tonnes of petrol and oil during January – September, up 6% from the nine-month plan and equivalent to 80% of this year’s target, its operator – Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical JSC (BSR) – said. During the period, BSR sold more than 5 million tonnes of products, up 6% from the nine-month plan and equivalent to 78% of the target for 2022. It posted over 125 trillion VND (5.2 billion USD) in revenue and contributed nearly 14 trillion VND to the State budget. BSR Director General Bui Ngoc Duong said in the year’s first half, global oil prices surged due to impacts of the Russia – Ukraine conflict and fuel demand soared driven by the post-pandemic global economic recovery. Khanh Hoa asked to hasten moves to address IUU fishing A delegation of agriculture, defence, and public security officials visited Khanh Hoa on September 30 – October 1 to inspect the south central province’s efforts against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. The trip was made ahead of a visit to Vietnam by a European Commission (EC) delegation from October 17 to 28 to examine the country’s moves to carry out recommendations about IUU fishing prevention. This is considered a great opportunity for Vietnam to persuade the EC to remove the “yellow-card” warning against IUU fishing. Nguyen Trong Chanh, head of Khanh Hoa’s fisheries division, said the entire local political system has taken drastic actions to eradicate IUU fishing and obtained encouraging results. The province has updated information about all the 3,199 fishing vessels on the national fisheries database (Vnfishbase) and granted fishing licenses to 3,184 vessels (equivalent to 99.5%). All vessels are examined before and after each fishing trip, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. In the first nine months of 2022, local authorities examined 2,724 tonnes of seafood and certified 2,082 tonnes. The fisheries division also organised 336 patrols and examinations, fining 54 violating cases nearly 600 million VND (25,100 USD). Vu Duyen Hai, Deputy Director of the Capture Fisheries Department at the MARD’s Directorate of Fisheries, spoke highly of Khanh Hoa’s efforts in combating IUU fishing but also asked the province to address several shortcomings, including those related to the examination of food safety, monitoring system, fish catch, export, and import. In particular, it is necessary to increase personnel for fishery ports and ensure control over the number of vessels, he noted. Bright prospect ahead as nation welcomes new foreign investment wave The country has a “golden chance” to attract a fresh wave of foreign investment, especially to its economic zones (EZs) and industrial parks (IPs), according to Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong. Annual foreign direct investment (FDI) poured into IPs and EZs currently accounts for 35% to 40% of the total FDI capital inflows, with the rate reaching between 70% and 80% in the processing and manufacturing industry, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). The MPI stated that the nation is currently home to 403 IPs, 18 coastal EZs, and 26 border gate EZs, all of which have become key magnets for domestic and foreign investments. Indeed, many of them are accommodating large foreign enterprises such as Samsung, Canon, LG, Sumitomo, Foxconn, and VSIP. Explaining why the country typically attracts new investment, especially in IPs and EZs, experts and international organisations stated at a recent forum that aside from political stability, the local economy is bouncing back quickly after the COVID-19 pandemic. In line with this, the Vietnamese economy boasts one of the fastest growth rates in the region, ensured major balances, and curbed inflation. Many free trade agreements (FTAs) have also been signed and come into effect, thereby creating optimal conditions for international investment and trading activities. In addition, thanks to the State’s attention to building infrastructure, especially expressways, and the engagement of large businesses, infrastructure conditions for industrial development nationwide have been considerably improved. However, Nguyen Anh Tuan, editor-in-chief of Nha dau tu (Investor) magazine, also pointed out certain challenges relating to the investment attraction of IPs and EZs, including complex administrative procedures. This is along with the lengthy site clearance for new IPs, issues related to law and policy enforcement, especially investment incentives and tax refunding, a general shortage of high-quality manpower, and housing and social welfare for workers in IPs and EZs. According to economists, in order to welcome more investment, IPs and EZs need not only good infrastructure and excellent services, but also assistance for investors. In order to achieve this, they in turn also need support from the Government. Favourable conditions provided for IPs by the Government will therefore facilitate investors, whilst difficulties facing IPs could also directly or indirectly affect investors, experts noted. Deputy Minister Phuong noted that as the advisory body for the State management of IPs and EZs, the MPI will work alongside other ministries, sectors, and localities to continue overhauling mechanisms and policies, as well as assisting investors to create an increasingly transparent and positive environment in IPs and EZs. Environment needed to promote impact business       Viet Nam needs to create an environment to encourage enterprises to attach more attention to social impact business (SIB) and attract investment in this model, experts have said. SIB was emerging as a trend but remained vague in Viet Nam. This model aims to minimise environmental and social damage through balancing the 3P pillars – Profit, People and Planet. According to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), an impact business is one that lies at the intersection of a traditional enterprise and charity organisation. Impact businesses included inclusive businesses, start-ups and cooperatives, among which cooperatives were the majority. Statistics of UNDP Viet Nam showed that there were about 22,000 impact businesses as of 2018, accounting for four per cent of the total number of firms. A survey carried out by UNDP Viet Nam this year showed that 46.6 per cent of impact businesses in Viet Nam operated in agriculture, most were of small and micro scales. Head of UNDP Viet Nam’s Inclusive Growth Unit Do Le Thu Ngoc pointed out that the biggest difficulties of impact businesses were the shortage of capital coupled with the lack of information about the market output and financial support. There was also a conflict that these impact businesses were struggling with raising capital while investment funds could not find a suitable place to pour money in. Some businesses believe that making an impact was a must-do trend if they wanted to develop sustainably. Viet Nam set an ambition of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 and impact business was expected to contribute to realising this goal. E-commerce needs better legal framework to prevent tax loss: insiders       The fast-growing e-commerce sector is making big money but its tax payments are not commensurate with its revenues, exposing the need for a better tax policy to prevent losses, according to insiders. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, Director of the Tax Administration Department for Small and Medium Enterprises, Business Households and Individuals, said the Ministry of Finance has launched a digital tax portal for foreign service providers (FSP) and an eTax Mobile app for individuals to facilitate tax collection. Thirty-six FSPs have registered and fulfilled their tax obligations via the portal so far, including six big names – Meta (Facebook), Google, Microsoft, TikTok, Netflix and Apple – which collectively account for 90 per cent of cross-border e-commerce in Viet Nam. The director also said the tax authorities have developed an AI-powered database to manage tax risks in e-commerce. The database will give warning signals any time it detects a case exceeding risk thresholds and put forward a solution to deal with the excessive risks. Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen, Deputy Director of the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency, noted that tax payments in e-commerce fall under the scope of Decree 85, which has been issued to add regulations to online trade and ensure traditional commerce and e-commerce be equally regulated. Under the decree, e-commerce platforms are required to appoint a contact point, which is tasked with disclosing information to regulatory authorities on e-commerce violations. Disclosure must be made within 24 hours from the receipt of the authorities’ request to facilitate ensuing investigations. They are also required to settle consumers’ complaints about goods and services provided by foreign sellers on those sellers’ behalf and notify them of their tax obligations on the platforms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Head of the Electronic Information Office, Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, revealed that her authority is developing a draft amending Decree 72 on Internet services and online information. Under the draft, social networking platforms are obliged to request online accounts, community pages and content distribution channels operating on the platforms to disclose information on revenue-generating activities to regulatory authorities. Hoang Van Cuong, Member of the National Assembly’s Finance-Budget Committee, called for a broader legal scope for e-commerce taxation to prevent tax loss. He took cryptocurrencies as an example. He said cash-flow-based taxation does not cover transactions made in cryptocurrencies since such curr...

You May Need A Sober October More Than You Think. Experts Explain How To Do It Right – CNN https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/you-may-need-a-sober-october-more-than-you-think-experts-explain-how-to-do-it-right-cnn/ CNN  —  Sober October, Dry January and Dry July: For one quarter of a year, these campaigns provide a motivation for people to come together and challenge themselves to go without alcohol. It isn’t a surprise to Annie Grace that these periods to reduce alcohol consumption are becoming more popular. The author of “This Naked Mind: Control Alcohol” said she is seeing more and more people evaluate the relationship that alcohol plays in their lives. How much is too much? The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention classifies moderate drinking as two drinks or less in a day for men and one drink or less for women. But two-thirds of adult drinkers report drinking more than those levels at least once a month, according to the CDC. And the pandemic didn’t help. A December 2020 study found that 60% of respondents increased drinking over the year and more than a third said they engaged in binge drinking, which is defined as five or more drinks on an occasion for men and four for women. Studies show that alcohol isn’t good for healthy living. There is no safe amount when it comes to heart health, according to the World Heart Federation. And even moderate drinking reserved for the weekend can have social, emotional and psychological impacts, according to a 2022 study. Sober October could be a step to cutting out alcohol entirely, but it doesn’t have to be, said biological psychologist Aaron White, senior scientific adviser to the director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Whatever your level of drinking, a monthlong sobriety challenge could help you be more mindful about your drinking, White added. You may think you might not need a break from drinking because you don’t have signs of substance abuse disorder: your drinking causing serious impairment, health problems, disability or issues meeting responsibilities. But problematic drinking is a spectrum – not just a binary between addicted and fine, Grace said. You may drink a little but not feel good about why or how you drink. You may drink a lot but feel doing so functions well in your life. Even people who don’t drink heavily may find themselves with less control over when and how much they drink than they would like, Grace said. She was one of those people. Grace didn’t feel she needed treatment programs, but she found that reducing her drinking was a struggle, which to her was a sign that something needed to change. Taking on a sobriety challenge doesn’t mean you have to quit forever, but it can help you be more thoughtful in your decisions around drinking rather than doing it because it’s what you usually do, White said. “It gives somebody a chance to cultivate alternatives,” he added. Even in just a month, there is evidence that reduced alcohol consumption can be good for your physical health. “Most people who drink excessively have fatty livers,” White said. “Even taking a break for a month is enough to just bring your liver enzymes down and for your liver to look healthier.” Some people may find with less or no alcohol they sleep better and make better food choices for themselves, White said. And for emotional health, a short-term challenge can point out feelings and routines that could be improved, Grace added. Many of the people she works with – even moderate drinkers – describe their relationship with alcohol as something they are not in full control of, she said. She encourages people who are using a sobriety challenge to take note of when they feel the urge to drink and what purpose it serves. Does it make you feel part of a community to share a drink at a party? Is that glass of wine after a long day a reliable sense of comfort? Maybe the drink is an easy way – but not the best – to get those needs met, Grace said. Taking note and trying to find those things without a drink could open you up to new ways of fulfilling those feelings, White added. There are a couple of stumbling blocks to plan for during a sober month, Grace said. One is overcoming the desire to drink, and experts had different approaches to solve that problem. Reducing drinking can have a similar effect as dieting – the more you tell yourself you can’t have it, the more you want it, said Natalie Mokari, a registered dietitian nutritionist in Charlotte, North Carolina. She recommends starting with one less drink than you would usually have at each occasion or breaking a daily habit by limiting drinking to certain days. You can also have a sparkling water in between drinks or make weaker cocktails than usual to reduce your alcohol consumption, she said. White said it is important not to feel shame if you end up drinking during your sobriety challenge. Don’t throw out the whole experience by beating yourself up over a glass of wine, he added. Grace recommended leading with curiosity and information. Learning more about the psychology and biology of alcohol really helped reduce her desire to drink, she said, and approaching her urges with curiosity rather than judgment allowed her to learn more about the role alcohol played in her life. There is also social pressure to drink. How do you not drink when everyone else is? Especially if friends get uncomfortable when they don’t see you with the beer you always have? The first thing is to remember that people may make you feel bad because they are uncomfortable about their own relationship with drinking, Grace said. It often helps to have a nonalcoholic drink in your hand at social events, White said, so the offer to have a drink doesn’t even come up. If you are hoping to curb your habits or boost your health, it is important not to see crossing the finish line as the time to overindulge, Mokari said. Dramatically reducing your consumption over that time can lower your tolerance, and what was enough for a buzz today could result in a much higher level of intoxication than you expect 30 days later, White said. You may also be undoing the changes in habit you have been building over the course of the month by going back even harder once it’s over, Grace added. “In our society, even saying ‘I want to take a break’ is super brave,” she said. “If you don’t change how you feel about it but white-knuckle it the whole month, it becomes like this forbidden fruit syndrome.”

Fantasy Football Today: Week 4 Injuries, #AskFFT Lineup Question And Rankings Updates – CBS Sports https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/fantasy-football-today-week-4-injuries-askfft-lineup-question-and-rankings-updates-cbs-sports/ Good morning. While you’re getting breakfast ready, there’s football being played, with the Vikings and Saints having kicked off at 9:30 a.m. ET from London. And, fittingly for Week 4, there are a ton of injuries in that game to worry about, with the Saints hit especially hard — they’re without starting QB Jameis Winston, star RB Alvin Kamara and star WR Michael Thomas, with Jarvis Landry also entering the game beat up.  This week features a simply ridiculous amount of injuries, with a number of big players already ruled out — and many up in the air for Sunday’s games. There’s a lot you need to sort through, and the Fantasy Football Today team is here to help. Jamey Eisenberg, Heath Cummings, and Dave Richard are on CBS Sports HQ at 10 a.m. to answer your questions and get you the latest up-to-date injury news live until kickoff. We’ll be there right up until kickoff answering as many questions as we can, so make sure you’re in the chat early to get your questions in.  For more Week 4 help, here’s the rest of our preview content to get you ready: Week 4 Start ‘Em & Sit ‘Em: QB | RB | WR Starts, sits and sleepers for every game Cheat Sheet: PPR | Non-PPR Week 4 Position Previews: QB | RB | WR | TE Week 4 Rankings: Jamey | Dave | Heath My Updated Week 4 Rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE For the rest of this morning’s newsletter, I have updates on the latest injury news as well as answers to your questions in an #AskFFT mailbag — email me at chris.towers@ViacomCBS.com throughout the week to get your emails included.  Week 4 Injury Report Quarterbacks Zach Wilson (knee) is set to start for the Jets as expected, and there shouldn’t be any surprises or suspense today.  Out: Jameis Winston (back/ankle), Dak Prescott (thumb), Mac Jones (ankle) Andy Dalton starts for the Saints, Cooper Rush will start for the Cowboys, and Brian Hoyer will start for the Patriots. Of those three, Dalton is the only one I would come close to wanting to use in a two-QB league, but he’s a low-end No. 2 at best.  Running backs Dalvin Cook (shoulder) and Jonathan Taylor (toe) were ultimately removed from the injury report and are expected to play their normal roles. Cook has experience playing through this shoulder issue in the past, but there is still some elevated risk of re-injury – not that you’re even considering sitting him. Dameon Pierce, Miles Sanders, James Conner, and AJ Dillon were all also removed from the injury report after being listed earlier in the week.  Questionable: Christian McCaffrey (thigh), Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) I’m expecting both to play, with some positive reports coming out about McCaffrey especially over the past few days. Patterson seems like he might be the longest shot to play seeing as he only got a limited session in during Friday’s practice and we haven’t gotten confirmation that he’ll play. He’s also the easiest to sit of the three if you’re wary, given his limited passing game role since Week 1. He’s an RB2, and if Patterson is out, I would only consider Tyler Allgeier an RB3, because I wouldn’t expect much of a passing game role.  Out: D’Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle), David Montgomery (ankle/knee), Boston Scott (rib) No real surprises here – Scott’s absence could mean more opportunities for Kenneth Gainwell, though Scott only has 10 carries and one target through three games, so it isn’t a significant role he’s leaving behind. With Swift out, Jamaal Williams figures to be the Lions lead rusher, with Craig Reynolds likely to take on some passing downs. Williams is the Start of the Week for the matchup against the Seahawks, and it’s a great matchup – albeit one where Williams is playing in a very beat up offense that could struggle to move the ball. He’s more of an RB2 for me. Khalil Herbert is the better option in Davis Montgomery’s absence, if you ask me (and you are).  Wide receivers There are a ton of WR injuries to keep track of heading into today’s games, but at least the likes of A.J. Brown, Allen Lazard, DeVonta Smith, Greg Dortch, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Michael Gallup should be good to go Sunday, among others. Bears rookie Velus Jones Jr. is also set to make his NFL debut, per reports, and remains worth a look in deeper leagues just in case this passing game starts to figure something out.  Questionable: Chris Godwin (Hamstring), Julio Jones (Knee), Gabe Davis (Ankle), Jarvis Landry (Ankle), Josh Reynolds (Ankle), Laviska Shenault Jr. (Hamstring), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Abdomen), Marquise Brown (Foot), Rondale Moore (Hamstring), Russell Gage (Hamstring), Zay Jones (Ankle) The Buccaneers guys are obviously worth watching. My expectation is that Godwin is the least likely of the trio to play, with both he and Jones expected to be game-time decisions – Jones didn’t practice Friday, but with a “rest” tag, which complicates things. My preference would be to avoid non-Mike Evans receivers for the Buccaneers until they prove healthy enough to make it through a full game. There is going to be plenty of interest in Josh Reynolds, given the absence of Swift, Amon-Ra St. Brown and D.J. Chark, but I’ll just remind you that there was very little interest in starting Reynolds last season when he was playing without most of those guys. He did have a decent stretch where he caught 16 passes for 259 yards and a couple of scores over four games last season, albeit mostly after St. Brown broke out and took the offense along with him. Reynolds isn’t a terrible option, but I’m expecting that offense to mostly be pretty bad with all their injuries, and Reynolds may not be good enough to overcome that.  Otherwise, it looks like Valdes-Scantling and Davis are expected to play, as are Brown and Moore – Moore will be making his season debut, and his return makes it tougher to trust Dortch. Moore has a RB2/3 upside in this offense, but I’m not sure he’ll play a full complement of snaps just yet. He’s a stash.  Doubtful: Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) Out: Keenan Allen (Hamstring), Michael Thomas (Foot), Hunter Renfrow (Concussion), Amon-Ra St. Brown (Ankle), Wan’Dale Robinson (Knee), A.J. Green (Knee), Kadarius Toney (Hamstring), Jakobi Meyers (knee), D.J. Chark (Ankle) Mack Hollins is coming off a huge game with Renfrow out, and he’s an interesting flier for this one. Josh Palmer has some appeal for the Chargers as well, and both of them are in the same WR3/4 range as Reynolds for me. If Landry plays, he’s not far from that role, though the absence of Winston adds some complications for the Saints offense as a whole – which includes Chris Olave coming off a massive game. Olave is my favorite of that whole crew, including the WR3/4 types already mentioned, but I’m a little worried about what the switch from Winston to Dalton means for him.  Tight ends Questionable: Dawson Knox (back/hip), Dalton Schultz (knee)  Both guys are expected to play, though with Schultz we have specific reporting indicating that, while Knox is more of an assumption – he was able to practice on a limited basis every day this week. Schultz is the better Fantasy option if he plays, though I wouldn’t be surprised if his role was limited, and he’s less of a must-start option than you’re typically used to with him.  #AskFFT Mailbag Send your questions to Chris.Towers@ViacomCBS.com to be included next week John: I don’t trust Matthew Stafford on Monday night, so I believe the best two options (that are available) are Marcus Mariota and Kirk Cousins. I know Cousins has a good history against the Saints, but he just got pounded by the Eagles “under the lights” and this again is a prime time game again in London Sunday morning. Jefferson currently also struggling to connect with him. The Saints are also statistically stomping all over QBs stats, so I’m leaning towards Mariota. It looks unlikely that Myles Garrett and JaDaveon Clowney can go, two huge blows to the front. Cleveland has also given up monster plays, including to Baker and Flacco. With Mariota’s mobility and the high over/under for this matchup, I think that makes him the play and up for a monster day, with a safer floor as well. What do you think?  John, I’m going to be honest, I think you might be overthinking this one. Mariota has been decent, as I hoped he would be, but he also just had 19.6 points against a pretty bad Seahawks defense. Stafford was awful in the season opener and only had 10.2 points in Week 3, but he also had both Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson drop touchdowns, and he averaged 10 yards per attempt despite that. The 49ers have allowed the second-fewest Fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks so far, but they’ve also faced Justin Fields, Geno Smith, and Russell Wilson, and I’m not sure we can really say that’s a particularly impressive stretch at this point. I’m sticking with Stafford here.  Albert: I have Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams as bench replacements for Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Chargers are not looking as good as everyone thought they would be so far and Justin Herbert is a little banged up and on the road, so I’m a little hesitant on Williams. On the other hand, Wilson is facing the Pittsburgh defense with QB Zach Wilson making his comeback from injury, so I’m a little hesitant with him too. Who would you go with?  I think both of these guys are a little less certain than they should be for exactly the reasons you give. I’m going to give Williams the edge simply because of his longer-term track record. He...

Alan Cross Has Seen The Future Of Music And Says It’s All About ‘Web3’ And The Metaverse – Global News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/alan-cross-has-seen-the-future-of-music-and-says-its-all-about-web3-and-the-metaverse-global-news/ SINGAPORE — If you want to kill a conversation quickly, just bring up words like “metaverse,” “crypto,” and “blockchain.” Eyes glaze over followed by some version of “Oh, look at the time. I must go.” I can relate. “Metaverse” conjures up vague notions of whatever Facebook is building and involves wearing a heavy and expensive headset. “Crypto” is some weird virtual currency Matt Damon keeps trying to sell us and may or may not include a thing called Bitcoin. And “blockchain?” Who knows? Here’s another term you can use to execute any conversation: “Web3.” Ready or not, this is where the internet is headed. Hold on. Let’s back up. The age of the internet is entering its third major era of evolution. Web 1.0 involved everyone building websites and publishing content. Think about all the gaudy, basic websites that littered the internet a couple of decades ago. Communication was almost exclusively one-way, from the publisher to the public. Content was pushed out. Story continues below advertisement We’re currently in the 2.0 era, a time controlled by big tech companies like Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat — and all the streaming music platforms. Web 2.0 allows users to publish and communicate with each other — at least to a limited extent, anyway, through leaving comments and maybe direct messaging. More importantly, though, Web 2.0 has allowed these companies to become immensely wealthy by using the personal data we happily provide them by using their free services. Data is the new oil. In fact, data is now the most valuable commodity in the known universe. This is a problem because it means that by providing these companies with our data, we’re all basically working for them. For free. Think about it: When you go online, you become a data miner providing the tech companies with the rich, raw material they use to sell stuff back to you. Canadians are online more than six hours a day, nearly two hours of which are spent on social media. In South Korea, the average person spends 10 hours a day online. Not only is this actual unpaid labour, but we also don’t know what data these companies have on us. And they won’t say. Plus they keep finding new algorithmic ways for us to provide them with even more data which they then use to sell us even more stuff. Web 2.0 companies hold all the cards. Story continues below advertisement Big Tech is making trillions from our work and isn’t sharing in any of the proceeds. If this were physical labour, it would be called “slavery.” But because data isn’t framed in the same way, it’s completely legal. This seems … wrong, doesn’t it? Enter Web3. I’m going to use a bunch of words here — I think correctly — that define what Web3 is: Decentralized public ownership of property in the online world that’s tracked and enforced by blockchain technology. It involves things like metaverses (yes, plural), cryptocurrencies, digital tokens, and NFTs, things that will allow internet users to become owners. Instead of giving up our personal information using free apps for nothing in return, we will participate in the creation, operation, and governance of many of the things that make up the internet. I just spent a week at the All That Matters conference in Singapore where people from the world of music, eSports, traditional sports, broadcasting, gaming, and marketing gathered to discuss this new era of the internet. At this point, we could dive very deep into the weeds and get extraordinarily technical. Instead, let’s just skip ahead to some examples of how this will affect music. Some are already calling this the musicverse. And it sounds pretty cool. Story continues below advertisement First, no one is building a capital-M-one-size-fits-all Metaverse akin to what we saw with The Oasis in the book Ready Player One. A better way to think of what’s coming is many, many different metaverses that offer 3-D interactivity within many different artists in many different ways. 19:01 Inside the Metaverse Inside the Metaverse – May 7, 2022 We’re already seeing the debut of some community-building apps like Drrops which allow community building between artists and fans. Headed by Our Lady Peace singer Raine Maida, Drrops was built with the idea of making it possible for artists to communicate directly with fans and vice versa without any sort of social media intermediary to skim away all the data. Bands will be able to learn more about their audiences while fans will be able to share exclusive opportunities, experiences, and merchandise, both real and virtual. Fans will be able to commune with each other, too, enhancing a sense of community. Trending Stories For example, superfans could be offered a digital token — think of it as a virtual ticket — that will give them access to special things from the artist. Or the artist could sit backstage chatting with fans arriving at the venue, asking what songs they might like to see on the setlist that night. Individual fans might be rewarded with a shout-out from the stage. Story continues below advertisement Web3 will also impact touring. Going on the road for months or even years at a time is expensive, exhausting, and bad for the environment. One solution might be to have the artist set up in one location. If you want to see them live, you can but tickets will be very expensive because that will become an increasingly exclusive experience. But if you can’t be there in person, that’s fine because the metaverse has no constraints of time, space, and even identity (more on that in just a sec). You’ll be able to enjoy the performance online in a VR/metaverse way for an exponentially cheaper price. Instead of getting 15,000 fans to pay $200+ each for a ticket in city after city after city, the artist will be able to stay in one place, playing in front of maybe a few thousand (or perhaps even just a few hundred fans) each night while simultaneously performing for, say, five million people in a metaverse who have paid $5 each. One such gig could theoretically gross $25 million and reach far more people in a much more efficient way. 5:14 Privacy in the metaverse Privacy in the metaverse – Jul 10, 2022 That’s not pie-in-the-sky thinking, either. Artists like Marshmello have already held digital concerts in venues like Fortnite in front of 10 million fans who not only got to watch and dance (via avatars) but were also able to buy merch. BTS has a virtual concert that reached one million fans in 191 countries. Not all at once, mind you. But time and space are meaningless in the metaverse. Imagine how this could be scaled for a festival like Glastonbury or Coachella. Story continues below advertisement Or how about this: I predict that someone will inevitably recreate the Woodstock ’69 experience in a musicverse. See what I mean about things being freed from time and space? At the same time, the artist will have a chance to build loyalty and community in entirely new ways. For example, back in 2019, Billie Eilish offered fans an on-demand tour of her bedroom, the place where many of her songs were born. Or maybe you’ll be able to get into a recording studio to collaborate with an artist on a session or remix. In this case, you become a creator of the content with the artist. Timbaland has already demonstrated this. These are examples of how the musicverse will allow artists to provide their fans with an unlimited amount of attention and in ways not available at any price in meatspace. Talk about strengthening the ties between artists and fans, right? On the business and accounting side, Web3 will also allow for much more efficient payment of royalties. The blockchain will keep track of who owns a song and who needs to be paid for a stream or a sale at a level of accuracy and security that far exceeds what we have today. Fans will be able to own digital property. Let’s say you want to purchase a particular seat in a metaverse concert venue. That seat is yours and no one can ever sit in it. Later, If you want, you may be able to sell that property for a profit. But because all purchases are connected to the blockchain — the public ledger of all transactions and tracker or ownership — such sales and purchases will be tracked and policed. When such a sale takes place, the original creator of that digital property — say a rare piece of music originally made available only to superfans — will get a piece of the action on the resale. Try that with the sale of used vinyl. Story continues below advertisement If all this seems totally foreign to you, you need to spend some time speaking to any Gen Z music fan. They’re already engaging in entertainment this way. Around 79 per cent of young music fans are already okay with seeing their favourite artists in the metaverse. And there’s more. About 65 per cent of Gen Z say that how you present yourself online is more important than how you present yourself in real life. Let that sink in for a second. Remember how we used to project our identities to the world by wearing a specific artist’s T-shirt? (Here’s where I should point out that one in three fans of fashion who are aware of Web3 opportunities have already purchased some kind of digital fashion.) Gen Alpha, kids born since 2010, are going to take this even further. They will grow up in a world where virtual creators are the new celebrities. We’re already seeing that with TikTok influencers. That, though, is just the tip of the iceberg. And here’s what I find fascinating and rather concerning for Canadians: Web3 is already rooted deeply in Asia, which is far ahead of North America and Western Europe. Digital citizens in China, Thailand, Indonesia, and India are already deep into...

Up 300% So Far, This Is The Coin To Perform Better Than Bitcoin And Ethereum This Fall – Cryptonews https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/up-300-so-far-this-is-the-coin-to-perform-better-than-bitcoin-and-ethereum-this-fall-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The text below is an advertorial article that is not part of Cryptonews.com editorial content. While Bitcoin and many other digital assets are tanking, some coins are proving to be extremely resilient in the face of current market volatility.  One coin that is climbing at an amazing rate, even as the rest of the market crashes is RBIS, the token fueling the ArbiSmart financial services ecosystem. In the last 3 weeks alone, it has gone up 300% and it is continuing to rise.  So, what has insulated RBIS from the bear market and why are analysts projecting a massive jump to over 30 times the current value by the end of 2022?  Consistent Profits in a Downturn Probably the main reason for the rising RBIS price is that the ArbiSmart ecosystem offers bear-resistant utilities that enable users to make the same, reliable profit in a downturn or an upturn.   First up, ArbiSmart offers automated crypto arbitrage. This is a low-risk investment strategy that makes money from temporary differences in the price of a crypto asset, across exchanges. These price disparities occur equally regularly, whichever direction the market is moving. ArbiSmart’s automated system, tracks hundreds of assets on multiple exchanges, searching for temporary price differences.  It buys the asset on the exchange offering the lowest price before instantly selling it on the exchange where the price is highest. Users just deposit funds, and the algorithm does the rest, generating profits of up to 147% a year. The exact profit percentage is based on the amount deposited and can be calculated prior to investing.  ArbiSmart also offers another way for crypto owners to make a profit, even during a crash. In July of this year, ArbiSmart introduced its interest-generating wallet that offers annual rates, unmatched anywhere else, of up to 147%, which remain the same in bull or bear markets. The wallet supports 25 different FIAT and cryptocurrencies and offers a variety of savings options. Wallet holders can lock funds in short-term savings plans, lasting as little as a month, or in long-term plans lasting up to 5 years, with a higher return, the longer the funds are locked up.  The interest rate is based on the wallet-holders account level, which is determined by how much RBIS they own. More RBIS means a better return on balances in every supported currency, from Bitcoin, Ether and Shiba Inu to Euro, Pound Sterling, and USD. The best rates are earned on RBIS balances though users can still increase their earnings, even if they choose not to convert their currency into the native token, by just receiving the daily interest in RBIS.  An Expanding Suite of Services  The ArbiSmart development team has been hard at work expanding the ecosystem throughout the bear run and these efforts are set to continue until the end of the year.  In late Q3 and in Q4 ArbiSmart will be introducing a mobile application for earning, buying, storing, and exchanging crypto.  It will also be launching a decentralized protocol, where yield farmers will be able to provide loans and liquidity in return for up to 190,000% APY as well as 0.3% of the fee charged for each trade. The protocol will also offer a unique twist, with gamification features that enable participants to score points and increase their annual percentage yields. This winter, ArbiSmart will also be introducing an NFT marketplace, as well as launching its own one-of-a-kind collection of unique digital items. These will be closely followed, in 2023, by the launch of a professional cryptocurrency exchange, as well as a play-to-earn, gaming metaverse, where participants will be able to purchase, develop, and sell virtual real-estate. All these RBIS utilities will be interconnected, so if an RBIS owner uses additional utilities they will receive better returns. For example, an ArbiSmart NFT will serve as a digital art investment, while also serving as a point -booster, generating higher scores for yield farmers and increasing their annual yields.  When using the ArbiSmart ecosystem participants will be earning profits from various RBIS utilities, such as staking, liquidity provision, and arbitrage trading. They can them massively increase those profits by locking the earnings in a wallet savings plan for a chosen timeframe, making a secondary source of income, with no extra effort. A Steady Upward Trajectory Through this year’s prolonged bear trend, the arbitrage system and the wallet have provided a secure haven, making them popular investment options for crypto owners. Meanwhile, as the wallet gains momentum, and more people open savings plans, an increasing amount of RBIS will be locked up, leaving circulation and limiting the available supply.  Since all utilities in the ArbiSmart ecosystem require the use of RBIS, with the addition of each new service the token demand will rise. The supply is forever restricted, capped at 450 million RBIS, so as demand rises, the supply will shrink, pushing the price higher and generating huge capital gains. RBIS is on a steadily rising trajectory, even as other coins crash. To start profiting from your Bitcoin, whichever way the market shifts next, open a wallet right now!

Noisy Polluting Leaf Blowers Are Finally Going Electric HT Tech
Noisy Polluting Leaf Blowers Are Finally Going Electric HT Tech
Noisy, Polluting Leaf Blowers Are Finally Going Electric – HT Tech https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/noisy-polluting-leaf-blowers-are-finally-going-electric-ht-tech/ The carbon footprint of maintaining yards and parks is bigger than you think. That’s where electric tools come in. In much of the northern hemisphere, the time of year is nigh for both brilliant fall foliage and its inescapable corollary: the persistent drone of high-powered leaf blowers. This year, however, may be just a little quieter. Leaf blowers aren’t just autumn’s loudest hardware — they’re also hurricanes of pollution. Blowing just one hour’s worth of leaves with a gas-powered machine produces about as many smog-forming chemicals as driving 1,100 miles in a Toyota Camry, according to the California Air Resources Board. After years of pressure, those chemical (and audible) impacts are now pushing US municipalities to ban gas-powered tools, and presenting an opportunity for a new class of electric options. As those alternatives become more powerful and affordable than ever before, the American lawn is finally starting to go green. “It’s a better way to do business — better for the environment, better for the guys, better for the clients,” says Jared Kocaj, owner of Outdoor Digs, a small landscaping company in New Jersey. A small cohort of noise- and climate-conscious homeowners started switching to electric blowers and mowers years ago, but the most important shift will come from companies like Kocaj’s: commercial landscaping crews that dominate lawn-gear purchases and keep their machines in constant use. The average commercial lawn mower, for example, runs 406 hours a year, or 17 straight days, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. By some measures, the emissions from those machines are piling up even quicker than those clouding US highways and interstates. In 2011, the most recent year of data available, gas-powered lawn equipment accounted for 43% of the country’s volatile organic compound emissions and 12% of its carbon monoxide, not to mention a cocktail of other nasty stuff like NOx, benzene, butadiene, acetaldehyde and formaldehyde. Over the past two years, Kocaj joined a wave of entrepreneurs starting to tackle that challenge, shelling out $65,000 to electrify Outdoor Digs. He purchased two massive mowers from Mean Green Mowers that will handle a full day’s work on a single charge, plus a truck full of smaller mowers, blowers, trimmers and saws from Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. and Stihl Inc., each with batteries that his crew of 45 people swaps out two or three times per shift. If the new machinery lasts three years — the average life of Kocaj’s gas-powered tools — the electric investment will break even. And if the tools last a little longer, the battery-powered gear will actually be a cheaper option. “It just made sense,” says Kocaj, noting that high gas prices are making the economics even more favorable. (In a busy month, his crews used to burn 1,200 gallons.) How lawn gear went electric The noise level of a leaf blower is generally correlated to its cost. To date, much of the industry has been driven by two-stroke engines, which have few moving parts and are thus relatively cheap and easy to maintain. They are also far louder than more refined engines. Insulation adds to the price tag, so the unit itself often acts as an amplifier for the whirring machinery and tiny combustions happening inside. But the blowing part of the hardware is just a large, concentrated fan, which makes it relatively easy to run on a battery, or at least easier than a 7,000-pound SUV. A few years ago, even Elon Musk pledged to make a quiet leaf blower, before the Internet told him such a thing already existed. The most popular commercial model from Stihl is about as loud as an electric toothbrush, even as it pumps air out at a velocity of up to 154 miles per hour — literally tornado speed. “We now have battery tools that rival the power of gas,” says Murray Bishop, Stihl’s vice president of sales and marketing. “On the pro side, gas is still king, but battery is growing quickly.” Stihl now sells four different battery platforms and an array of chargers, including a mobile charging cabinet that it rolled out last year. Electric machines currently account for just under half of the company’s overall sales and certain products, like Stihl’s hedge trimmers, can even run longer on a battery than they do on a tank of gas. Writ large, the potential of quieter, cleaner lawn care is an enormous business opportunity, and an excuse for companies and weekend warriors alike to upgrade their gear. The companies making lawn equipment shipped some 38 million tools last year, according to the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute, a trade group of manufacturers. Just over half of those sales were of electric tools, but the bulk of battery-powered purchases were made by individual homeowners. That means manufacturers can still expect plenty of upside ahead as the commercial sector embraces new technology. Toro Co., for example, is working with Home Depot on stocking some stores exclusively with electric tools. “Just buying a gas walk-power mower from us, that may be [a consumer’s] only purchase,” CEO Rick Olson told analysts in March. “But when they buy a battery electric product from us, then there are 50 other attachments that we’re going to market to them as great solutions — whether it’s pole saws, trimmers, string trimmers, blowers … so it provides an incremental boost.” Likewise, Stanley Black & Decker Inc. CEO Don Allan has called the trend towards battery-operated machines a “growth catalyst” for the company. “I really believe when we look back at this space five, six, seven years from now, we’re going to see that a radical shift has happened,” Allan said at a conference in June. For companies like Kocaj’s, battery-powered machines can also be helpful in landing commercial clients, including office parks, schools and distribution centers that often are stretching to hit internal ESG goals or land LEED certifications (and the valuable tax breaks that come with them). Kicking the backyard gas habit may not be voluntary forever. Realizing the noise and chemical pollution associated with gas-powered blowers, policymakers all over the US are now passing measures to eliminate them. California was first, voting in December to ban the sale of most small gas-powered tools by the end of next year. The state has almost as many lawn tools as cars and trucks — and only about 6% of the gear used by professionals is electric, according to an estimate by the California Air Resources Board. A string of smaller governments have since followed suit, including Washington, DC; Burlington, Vermont; Portland, Oregon and Palm Beach, Florida. Seattle’s City Council approved a similar measure last month, and in Outdoor Digs’ backyard of New Jersey, blower bans are spreading. “There’s Montclair, Summit, Short Hills,” Kocaj says. “We kind of saw it coming and got ahead of it.” Kocaj is now hoping to push his company’s electron advantage further, planning a solar farm on its 11-acre headquarters — and solar panels on its trucks — so Outdoor Digs can be electrically self-sustaining. “Right now, we have to plug into the building every night,” he says, “and I feel like that’s cheating.”

Nevada Governor Las Vegas Sheriff Face Off In First Debate The Washington Post
Nevada Governor Las Vegas Sheriff Face Off In First Debate The Washington Post
Nevada Governor, Las Vegas Sheriff Face Off In First Debate – The Washington Post https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/nevada-governor-las-vegas-sheriff-face-off-in-first-debate-the-washington-post/ RENO, Nev. — Nevada Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak and his Republican challenger, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo, are meeting for their only scheduled debate of this election year on Sunday, where they’ll face off after a botched inmate escape at the state Department of Corrections and air their long-simmering rivalry that has pitted the Las Vegas’ top law enforcement officer against its incumbent. Lombardo, who has spent his career in Las Vegas law enforcement and has served as sheriff since 2015, has often sparred with Sisolak, who began his political career with a 10-year stint on Nevada’s Board of Regents, which oversees higher education statewide, and later became chair of Clark County’s board of commissioners. Many of the subjects animating the race are also defining midterm races across the country, from abortion rights to inflation and education. ECONOMY: Sisolak has pointed to “two economies” — one with low unemployment and “full hotels” but with high gas and housing prices. While he has said he can’t control inflation, he is trying to ease the burden on families by investing in child care, affordable housing and tuition-free community college. He is endorsed by Nevada’s Chamber of Commerce. Mirroring many Republican challengers this election cycle, Lombardo has tried to pin rising inflation and gas prices on Sisolak and Democratic policies. And he has frequently criticized Sisolak’s closure of non-essential businesses and mandates during the pandemic as detrimental to small businesses. Lombardo has said he would seek to diversify Nevada’s economy, which is highly reliant on tourism, particularly in southern Nevada, by partnering with private sector employers on training in welding, robotics and coding. ABORTION Even in Nevada, where the right to an abortion within 24 weeks has been codified in state law by voters since 1990, Sisolak has made the U.S. Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade a central talking point, as have other Democratic candidates nationwide. Sisolak is a staunch supporter of abortion rights and has worked to make Nevada a safe haven for abortion patients as neighboring Utah, Arizona and Idaho have restricted access to abortions. Sisolak has attempted to paint Lombardo as an anti-abortion extremist, who has waffled on his stance on other abortion measures throughout the campaign. Lombardo told KRNV-TV that he would overturn Sisolak’s June executive order that protects out-of-state abortion patients who receive abortion care in Nevada and the providers who offer them care. Days later, he told The Associated Press only that he would view it through a “pro-life lens” but did not cite specific action. In a letter posted on his website last week, he said that he would uphold the order. Earlier this month, he said he would oppose a national abortion ban proposed by South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham. At a GOP primary debate in May, Lombardo said he would “absolutely take it under consideration” when asked if he’d consider measures possibly including parental notification laws, abortion waiting periods or restricting contraceptives, along with “anything associated with the pro-life view” but declined to cite specific measures. More recently, he has emphasized on his website that he will “ensure that contraceptives stay accessible for Nevadans,” part of a 106-word explanation for his abortion stance that during the primary race had three words: “Joe is pro-life.” EDUCATION Lombardo and Sisolak have both said they want to be known as the “education governor,” though their vision for schools is radically different. The sheriff has criticized Nevada’s low test scores and remote learning during the pandemic. He said he would restore parts of Nevada’s “Read by Grade 3” program, potentially including a provision that holds back third graders who don’t read at grade level, and supports an expansion of charter schools, which teachers’ unions oppose. Sisolak has allocated $200 million to address learning loss caused by the pandemic, and while test scores have improved, they have not been restored to pre-pandemic levels. He has taken credit for signing the largest education budget in state history and providing teachers with their first raises in a decade. CRIME Crime is playing out as a top issue in Nevada as elsewhere in the country. For months, the two have pointed fingers at each other over crime rates in Clark County, home to Las Vegas, where Lombardo claims Sisolak’s policies have hindered his ability to fight crime and Sisolak saying Lombardo has neglected his job as he focuses on higher office. Lombardo wants to toughen penalties for criminal offenses. He said he would repeal a law that raised the trigger for a felony theft charge from $650 to $1,200 and increased the amount of drugs a suspect needs to carry to be eligible for felony trafficking charges. During his first term, Sisolak banned bump stocks that enable semiautomatic weapons to fire faster and advocated for “common-sense background checks.” Both agree that the state should hire more police officers. ___ Stern is a corps member for the Associated Press/Report for America Statehouse News Initiative. This Is The One Big Thing I Don’t Mind Spending A Lot Of Money On – The Motley Fool https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/this-is-the-one-big-thing-i-dont-mind-spending-a-lot-of-money-on-the-motley-fool/ Image source: Getty Images We travel a lot, but there’s a good reason we feel this is worth spending money on. Key points In our family, we try to be careful with our money. We live on a budget and limit splurges. But we are always happy to spend money on travel because of the memories we’re making. When it comes to spending, I generally try to be pretty conservative. I want to save a lot for my future and to make sure I can cover the cost of an education for two children. Plus, I’m potentially interested in retiring early, or at least having the ability to do so, so I’m investing heavily for my later years.  But, although I am a pretty frugal person in many areas, there is one thing I absolutely do not mind spending a lot of money on.  I’m always happy to splurge on vacations  The one big thing that I am always willing to spend money on is vacations with my family. In fact, this is one of the biggest line items in my budget outside of saving and housing costs. We take a lot of vacations, going on eight trips just this past summer alone. And while I look for some ways to be frugal on my trips, like staying at campgrounds and cooking some of our meals ourselves, I’m also sometimes willing to splurge for special experiences while on vacation. Recently, for example, we rented a beachside cabana so our elderly dog was able to come with us to the beach for the day — even though it cost more than $100 for the day.  There’s a simple reason why I am happy to spend money both on taking lots of trips and on these special experiences while we are away. I believe the memories we are making on these trips are priceless and that planning, executing, and looking back on these vacations will bring us far more happiness than any of the stuff we would potentially purchase with our funds otherwise.  Since I have two small kids and a dog I adore, my husband and I are more than willing to shell out the cash needed to make the most of the time with our family that we can never get back. Soon enough, our kids will be grown and won’t want to spend tons of time going on adventures with us any more, and we don’t want to look back and wish we had done more.  There’s nothing wrong with splurging on things you find worth it — as long as you budget for it For us, vacations are the thing we have chosen to spend a lot of money on. For other people, it might be something else, like expensive meals out or a fancy car that makes them feel good every time they drive it. And the reality is, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having that one thing (or even a few things) that you spend on. The key, though, is to budget for this and make sure you aren’t setting yourself up for financial hardship by doing it. We wouldn’t charge all these vacations on our credit cards because we know that would make life harder, so we make sacrifices in other areas to enable us to spend on what we value most.  If you have something you love that you want to spend money on, take a look at your budget and see if you can find a way to do it that will still allow you to save for your future and avoid borrowing. If you can, there’s no reason not to indulge yourself with your hard-earned cash. Alert: highest cash back card we’ve seen now has 0% intro APR until nearly 2024 If you’re using the wrong credit or debit card, it could be costing you serious money. Our expert loves this top pick, which features a 0% intro APR until nearly 2024, an insane cash back rate of up to 5%, and all somehow for no annual fee.  In fact, this card is so good that our expert even uses it personally. Jump-Starting Tourism Cape Business News
Jump-Starting Tourism – Cape Business News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/jump-starting-tourism-cape-business-news/ As the drapes of the past two years of restrictions brought on by COVID-19 have come down, the tourism sector is providing a sliver of light to South Africa’s economic recovery. “Over the past two years, measures to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the devastating decline in tourism domestically and internationally,” says Acting Communications Chief Director of the Department of Tourism Seapei Lebele. The pandemic’s arrival led to massive declines in foreign arrivals and revenue. Tourism’s contribution to Gross Domestic Product decreased from 3.7% in 2019 to an estimated 1.3% in 2020. Further rubbing salt into the injury, estimated declines on direct employment in the sector exceeded 36% in 2020 compared to 2019. “On the supply side, we observed losses in key tourism products and services, affecting gains made over the years to diversify South Africa’s tourism offering, with particularly painful losses to the SMME sector. These losses further negatively impact on our struggle for broad based economic transformation in this sector,” says Lebele. Flickers of light However, domestic travel contributed positively to demand in the COVID-19 period driven by campaigns and pricing targeted for the domestic market. “This was positive and helped create better understanding within the market and through this exposure propelled the market to diversify its offerings,” says Lebele as she reflects on the last two years for the sector. Pent up demand and the end of lockdown restriction saw South Africans undertake more domestic trips in the first half of 2022. Just last week, Cabinet emphasised the “critical” importance of domestic tourism to the recovery of the sector. Cabinet was pleased that the hospitality sector recorded an increase in visitors post the COVID-19 period as 15.2 million domestic trips were undertaken in the first half of 2022. This was a 114% increase compared to the same period in 2021. This showed a marked improvement for the same period in 2019, which saw 8.6 million domestic trips taken.   “The tourism sector is starting to recover and is poised to bounce back. The first half of 2022 showed a staggering growth of 147% in arrivals reaching an impressive 2,285,746. Holiday trips have increased by 23.8% compared with the same period in 2021, and the average spend increased to 28.6%,” she says. The biggest driver of domestic travel in the first six months of 2022 was the easing of COVID-19 travel restrictions. This is good news for the country, which celebrates Tourism Month in September. Celebrated annually, the month provides a heightened month-long focus on the importance of the sector to the economy. Tourism Month also encourages South Africans to travel domestically to sustain jobs and support the recovery of tourism in line with the Tourism Sector Recovery Plan. Asked whether South Africans are in the habit of exploring their own backyards, Lebele says this is most definitely the case. “Definitely. Although the Living Standard Measure (LSM) still shows mostly middle class and higher LSM levels undertaking trips instead of the lower LSM groups. This is a component that we are working to address urgently and continuously through our domestic awareness programmes.” While the pandemic caused havoc, one of its positive impacts is that people are looking for local experiences.  “People are looking for local experiences and are spending more time with communities. We have developed a framework that advances community-based tourism. This framework will ensure that the community is at the core of development, ensuring that they are engaged and empowered,” she tells SAnews in an interview. She adds that the country is still a destination of choice for travellers across the globe. According to the Tourism Quarterly Performance report, total tourist arrivals went up by 146.8% for the period January-June 2022 compared to January-June 2021. This was a growth from a total of 926 262 tourist arrivals seen during January-June 2021 to 2 285 746 during January-June 2022. Total tourist arrivals from the overseas market increased by 429.0% (+459 953) while tourist arrivals from the African continent increased by 109.8% (+897 124). In terms of volume, the increase recorded from the continent was driven by Zimbabwe (+245 674; 128.9%) followed by Lesotho (+207 504, 133.0%) and Mozambique (+185 250; 80.5%). The department recently put out the draft Framework for Community Participation in Tourism (FCPT) for public comments. The FCPT in line with the Tourism Sector Recovery Plan, emphasises the importance of developing and reinforcing domestic, regional, and local tourism that is inclusive and prioritises community well-being. Its objective is to ensure that tourism provides maximum benefit to communities where tourism serves as a catalyst. Minister Lindiwe Sisulu said the goal of the framework is to guide the department, provincial tourism departments, and other key tourism stakeholders in their efforts to encourage community participation in the tourism sector and, as a result, to increase the positive impact tourism can have on local economic development and community quality of life. The framework says Lebele, has been well received. “Since the draft was made available for public comment, the response has been low and the department used a variety of platforms to present the draft to larger communities/tourism stakeholders. However, we hope to receive feedback as we encourage more stakeholders to provide inputs.” Seeking opportunities Meanwhile, the department is working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar which will be hosting the FIFA World Cup later this year to consider South Africa as a hub for the football spectacle. This as the Middle East is a critical market for South Africa. The department says the collaboration will be very instrumental in ensuring ease of access to and from South Africa for travellers from this region while also assisting in elevating the country’s trade efforts. “The MoU has been drafted and is undergoing the necessary processes of review and finalisation by the respective countries,” says Lebele.  The tournament will run from 20 November to 18 December. World Tourism Day South Africa this week joined the world in celebrating World Tourism Day on 27 September. Inspired by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), World Tourism Day celebrations provide a platform for the South African sector to celebrate, reflect and commemorate its milestones in relation to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This year’s theme was declared as: “Rethinking Tourism – Opportunities Await” and addresses the progress made in the pandemic aftermath and how policymakers and the tourism sector have been able to adapt and rethink tourism to ensure the sector becomes more resilient.   The department has worked closely with South African Tourism to localise the international theme in order to align it to the country’s strategic focus areas and the department’s mandate. “The reason for World Tourism Day is to cultivate and create awareness among society globally on the significance of tourism, and it’s social, political, financial and also cultural worth and value,” she says. She adds that the theme re-emphasises the importance of everyone rallying behind new ways of doing things within tourism and travel and that domestic travel “is never again neglected at the expense of inbound tourism”. “South African Tourism, the marketing agency of the department, has the Sho’t Left campaign which was launched in 2004 as part of its Domestic Tourism Strategy. The focus of this campaign is to create affordable travel for specific targeted segments within the domestic tourism market. “It is hoped that the hype around the Tourism Month will culminate in bigger numbers of people being educated on domestic tourism, as well as benefiting from the various discounts offered by different entities.” Thinking outside the box Asked about what has been done to mitigate the negative impacts of the past two years, Lebele says the pandemic has challenged the sector to think outside the box and look for ways to build an inclusive and resilient tourism sector that will ensure the participation of women and young people in a meaningful way. The department has since dedicated resources to support the recovery of the economy, especially the tourism sector in line with the Tourism Sector Recovery Plan. Projects have been implemented to protect and rejuvenate the sector including publishing the Norms and Standards for safe operations in the sector as well as providing training within the sector on these. The department has also implemented the Tourism Infrastructure Maintenance programme at key tourism attractions. The programme refurbishes existing state-owned tourism assets such as precincts, protected areas, national and provincial parks, botanical and zoological gardens and heritage sites. The department also finalised the Baviaanskloof Interpretative Centre and Leopard Trail, which was funded by the European Union (R57 million). With Tourism Month coming to an end, the department remains hard at work to ensure that South Africans of all walks of life benefit fully from different tourism and travel offerings. Just as curtains are pulled back at the start of every new day, the stage is set for those with itchy feet to continue looking forward to enjoying the country’s scenic splendour, culture and warm summer days ahead. – SAnews.gov.za Contact sales@cbn.co.za to enquire about our digital marketing options

The Etihad Stadium clash is also Erik ten Hag’s maiden crosstown clash, with the Dutchman having masterminded an impressive recovery of four consecutive Premier League wins after United’s false start to the season. That run includes wins over Liverpool and Arsenal at Old Trafford, meaning the Red Devils will approach City with more confidence than might have been expected back in August. Pep Guardiola is without key midfielder Rodri and has opted for Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake ahead of Ruben Dias at centre-back. Marcus Rashford has overcome a hamstring problem to start for United. He has been a transformative signing and Guardiola’s decision to bench him will get plenty of post-match focus if United are triumphant. But the Portugal international is not playing at the imperious level that saw him quickly become City’s defensive leader, while Akanji and Ake have both been in fine form. Additionally, a lot of pace against this United forward line when there is Rodri for screening cover makes sense. Even so, file Guardiola’s picks for his starting centre-backs under “big call”. 40 mins from kickoff: It’s certainly an early plus for Ten Hag that all the pre-game talk centres on the City XI. He has the luxury of being able to field a winning team once again with the minimum of fuss. Among other things, that shows he has quickly won the argument over Ronaldo’s reduced role. Still, it would be a brave person who bets against CR7 coming off the bench to make an impact if this one remains in the balance with 20 minutes to go. 1 hour from kickoff: That’s confirmed then, no Rodri for City. Jack Grealish has been spotted doing some pre-match media duties, so he’s starting for the hosts. One reason for that might be the seeming absence of Rodri from the City squad that got off the team coach a few moments ago. If the Spain international is out, expect Ilkay Gundogan to slot into his role at the base of midfield, with Grealish and Phil Foden flanking Haaland in attack. 1 hr 30 mins from kickoff: It’s tricky to know quite what to expect from United today, largely because they haven’t played a Premier League game for almost a month. They turned their form around very impressively following a dismal start to life under Erik ten Hag, winning four in succession. That run includes home wins over Liverpool and Arsenal but  1 hr 40 mins from kickoff: Here we go then. The big one in Manchester. Can We Build A Metaverse Thats GOOD? Big Think
Can We Build A Metaverse Thats GOOD? Big Think
Can We Build A Metaverse That’s GOOD? – Big Think https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/can-we-build-a-metaverse-thats-good-big-think/ The Metaverse does not yet exist. At the moment, it is a vision of the future of the internet. One problem facing its development is that current problems with the internet — like misinformation, privacy issues, and security breaches — have not been solved. Inside the Metaverse, these problems could be amplified. Thankfully, developers, consumers, voters, and regulators have the power to implement change. MATTHEW BALL: Right now, the Metaverse doesn’t exist. It’s not something that we can go out and experience. We can’t purchase a product. No company is going to reflect ‘Metaverse revenues’ on their income statement. It is an ambition. We, as a society, as people, did not evolve for thousands of years to interact with 2D interfaces. There’s a belief that the Metaverse is a more intuitive way to express, to create, and to explore. What we’re going to find is that an ever-growing share of our everyday interactions are happening inside a 3D-rendered environment or with 3D augmentation, like AR glasses.  Much like we already observed with younger generations, we’ll start to see that seniors start to educate, to do physiotherapy, to see their doctor, to be analyzed in 3D real-time experiences. Also, we will see that in the near future, speaking to a customer associate will be presented in holography. Whenever you talk about holographics, people think of this as an impossible technology.  The truth is it is here- it’s just expensive and not widely deployed. And so, those examples of going to the DMV and talking to a holographic representative, going to a retail store to try on clothes that are projected on top of you with a camera with a consultant telling you what’s a good fit, having the measurements tuned based on gait analysis, that’s not that far off. But in many instances, we’ll find that the world around us has been built using these technologies- architecture and constructions are already using them today. Or we might walk through an industrial facility, such as an airport, which for all intents and purposes is in the Metaverse and has placed you there from the moment you set foot.  My biggest concerns about the Metaverse are that we’re still struggling, and in many cases, failing to contend with current problems with the internet. Mis- and disinformation, privacy, data security- these are very serious issues, and frankly, there’s evidence that they’re getting worse each day. When we go to the Metaverse, the difficulty of these challenges will only increase. And at the same time, we’ll probably lose some of the lessons from the last 15 years because they don’t port over one-to-one. At the same time, I’m optimistic because I firmly believe that we have a once in every 15, 20 year chance to reset the playing field.  If we don’t like a company that’s leading, we don’t like a business practice that’s present, if we don’t like the way in which the internet is run, we can affect who leads tomorrow. That doesn’t cleanly give us the answer, ‘How do you solve for radicalization or disinformation?’- but allows us to change who is making the call, and what are their incentives, and where do we spend our time- that’s heard intergenerationally. As we succeed one era with a new one, we, and by we, I mean developers, consumers, voters, regulators, have an unprecedented opportunity to actually affect the world. The companies which lead us, the philosophies that we support, the business models that drive society. And so, understanding how the world is going to change- be digitally transformed in the years to come- is essential. NARRATOR: Get smarter, faster with videos from the world’s biggest thinkers. Arbitrum Airdrop May Be Coming Soon Heres What You Need To Know Cryptonews
Arbitrum Airdrop May Be Coming Soon Heres What You Need To Know Cryptonews
Arbitrum Airdrop May Be Coming Soon – Here’s What You Need To Know – Cryptonews https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/arbitrum-airdrop-may-be-coming-soon-heres-what-you-need-to-know-cryptonews/ Source: Arbitrum Major Ethereum scaling solution Arbitrum is reportedly preparing for its much-anticipated airdrop. In light of this, pundits have shared some useful insight on the nature of the airdrop and possible eligibility prerequisites. Anonymous crypto pundit DeFi Riddler took to Twitter to share some important tips on how to claim the Arbitrum airdrop in a lengthy thread of over 28 tweets. Within the thread, they highlighted the nature of the airdrop and some steps proponents can take to increase their eligibility chances. The Arbitrum team has not shared any information on the total worth of the airdrop. Notwithstanding, according to DeFi Riddler, the airdrop is likely to be worth around $50,000 due to Optimism’s (OP) airdrop total worth of $50,000.  Additionally, the community should expect Arbitrum to launch its token soon, before the airdrop kicks off. As the distribution period for the airdrop appears to be around the corner, DeFi Riddler listed some likely eligibility criteria in a four-point analysis. The first point involves the Arbitrum Odyssey Campaign. Proponents who took part in the Odyssey Campaign and haven’t claimed their NFTs yet are advised to connect their MetaMask wallet on Arbitrum to claim the token. A link in this regard was provided. Claimable period lies between June 28, 18:00 and October 30, 17:59 (GMT+1). Notwithstanding, participants who did not get the NFT should head to Stratos NFT – an NFT marketplace on Arbitrum – to purchase a token. This will give them a role on Arbitrum Discord channel. After purchasing or claiming the NFT, proponents should bridge some of their ETH tokens from the Ethereum mainnet to the Arbitrum One Network. After a successful bridge, proponents are advised to interact with dApps on the Arbitrum network by using them for several transactions on multiple days. Transactions mustn’t involve large funds. Arbitrum is one of the most successful Ethereum L2 solutions Thirdly, proponents should prioritize completing Arbitrum tasks on Discord. They would need a wallet and a Discord account for this. Funds ranging from $5 to $10 worth of ETH is enough to engage in the tasks. Users who complete the tasks receive rewards and increase their chances of receiving the upcoming airdrop.  Conclusively, active participation on the Ethereum network is likely to increase one’s chances of getting the airdrop. In this regard, proponents are advised to hold some ETH tokens, regardless of the amount, and get involved in on-chain activities. Users can also vote on available proposals on the project’s snapshot. Airdrops are free tokens distributed by a project to numerous early adopters’ wallet addresses as a way of promoting the project. Airdropped tokens are likely to be minute in amount due to the multiple users they will be reaching. Notwithstanding, a price surge on these tokens could significantly increase their worth overtime. Arbitrum is likely to begin its airdrop soon, and the scaling solution’s prominence is indicative of the airdrop’s significance. Arbitrum is essentially a layer-2 solution on the Ethereum blockchain.  The platform seeks to increase Ethereum’s transaction speed and cut down its fees by using optimistic rollups. Arbitrum is one of the most successful Ethereum L2 scaling solutions with over $1B in its total value locked (TVL).

Apple IPhone 6 Added To The Vintage List Of The Company – India TV News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/apple-iphone-6-added-to-the-vintage-list-of-the-company-india-tv-news/ Image Source : APPLE iPhone 6 Tech giant Apple has added the iPhone 6, launched in 2014, to its list of vintage products. In February 2022, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus received the same classification as antique, and now the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will follow suit, reports AppleInsider. When the iPhone 6s was launched, the tech giant continued to sell the iPhone 6 as its lower-cost offering. It finally stopped sales once the iPhone 7 was released in 2016. The larger “Plus” model of the iPhone was initially made available with the release of the iPhone 6 series. It also had a new design with curved edges that replaced the iPhone 4 through iPhone 5s’s previous design with flat edges. Along with the iPhone 6, Apple also introduced Apple Pay, a safe way for customers to make purchases online by saving their credit and debit cards in the Wallet app. The tech giant considered one of its products as vintage when it stopped distributing them for sale more than five years and less than seven years ago. It provides service and parts for vintage products for up to seven years or as required by law. Latest Technology News

Binance Launches Cryptotourism With First Crypto-Trips – Trade Arabia https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/binance-launches-cryptotourism-with-first-crypto-trips-trade-arabia/ Binance, the global blockchain firm behind the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has announced the first-ever crypto-sponsored vacation — ‘cryptotourism’. Demonstrating how efficient, secure and simple travel is in a web3 world when one forgoes traditional currency and globetrot exclusively using crypto, Binance has teamed up with leading travel influencers, Lauren Bullen and Jack Morris, on a global crypto-only scavenger hunt that includes giving away $50,000 in BNB for those who want to join the movement. Binance Global Vice President of Marketing, James Rothwell, said: “Cryptotourism makes global travel easier and more secure for everyone. It’s also an economical choice, since there are zero fees, full transaction transparency and no country-by-country exchange rate issues. The ease of using crypto while travelling is a testament to the incredible mainstream global adoption we are starting to see.” Binance Pay Beginning on World Tourism Day (September 27), Bullen  and Morris will book travel exclusively with crypto to select global hot spots, as well as all goods and services, using Binance Pay – a contactless, borderless and secure cryptocurrency payment technology, all while sharing crypto travel tips and tricks on how to make cryptotourism a reality for everyone. The duo will each hide a Binance Gift Card in secret destinations, worth $25,000 in BNB to help fund two lucky followers’ cryptotourism dreams. They will drop a series of clues via @gypsea_lust (Lauren), @jackmorris (Jack) and @binance, and once the hidden prizes have been located, new Binance accounts will be activated if necessary and $25,000 in BNB will be directly transferred to each of the two winners. “I love venturing into new territory, and crypto travel is exactly that. This is just the beginning of a whole new amazing world for people who love to travel,” said Bullen. Life to travel “I have dedicated my life to travel, and now to do so without having to worry about exchange rates or carrying physical cash is a burden lifted,” said Morris. “People think global travel needs to be super expensive and complicated – it doesn’t. And we want to show people that crypto travel makes it even easier.” The travel industry has been hit especially hard coming out of the pandemic, in addition to recent market volatility and geopolitical conflict. Between travel restrictions, airline cancellations and big crowds, travel has felt anything but easy.  The campaign will demonstrate that crypto-backed travel is not only a reality, but a more convenient way to explore the world.– TradeArabia News Service
