PCOS In Teenage Girls: Identifying Sign And Symptoms Lifestyle And Dietary Tips Hindustan Times
PCOS In Teenage Girls: Identifying Sign And Symptoms, Lifestyle And Dietary Tips – Hindustan Times https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/pcos-in-teenage-girls-identifying-sign-and-symptoms-lifestyle-and-dietary-tips-hindustan-times/ Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS is one of the most common lifelong chronic health disorders that is known to affect women in their teenage and childbearing ages. It is a hormonal imbalance condition that causes heavier periods, irregular menstrual cycles alongside unexplained weight gain or difficulty in maintaining normal weight, acne and clogged pores on the face, excessive hair growth on face, chest or abdomen, affects the chances of pregnancy, causes metabolic disorders including type II diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, endometrial cancer, anxiety and depression. Although it cannot be completely prevented or cured, health experts insist that with early and multidisciplinary management approach of PCOS treatment, lifestyle management and timely psychological counseling, the consequences of PCOS in the later stages of life can be tactfully managed. Identifying signs and symptoms of PCOS In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Kavita Pujar, Senior Consultant – Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Kinder Women’s Hospital and Fertility Centre in Bengaluru, shared, “One of the major symptoms of PCOS is irregular or missed periods, which can lead to paused ovulation. In such cases, conceiving a child may become difficult, resulting in infertility. However, if irregular periods are managed during the early years of puberty, women can get pregnant without any difficulty.” She added, “The next major contributor to PCOS is the growing incidence of childhood obesity which is resulting in early puberty. Obesity can slow down metabolism and hence, cause hormonal imbalances, which again makes it difficult to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight range. For women with PCOS, skin problems are common owing to high androgen (male hormone) levels leading to increased production of sebum, which in turn, causes inflammation and bacterial growth on the skin. Teens with PCOS, with their unexplained weight gain, facial hair growth, acne, metabolic disorders suffer from poor self-image, profound psychological and social crisis that may need immediate attention and care.” Ways to tackle PCOS in teenage years Many stay unaware of this condition in the initial stages hence, the symptoms remain ignored or unattended. Dr Kavita Pujar suggested, “The first thing to do after experiencing the above-mentioned symptoms is to consult a Gynecologist. The symptoms must be assessed further using proper diagnostic tests and the right treatment as per the severity of the condition will be prescribed. PCOD can be treated and managed well with simple lifestyle alterations and following a healthy way of living. Many are advised to take oral contraceptive pills to reduce acne and other symptoms, regulate their menstrual cycle; some are also given diabetic medicines to manage their metabolic health and keep their blood sugar levels under control.” According to her, few lifestyle and dietary tips that can make a difference include: 1. Choosing healthier food and following healthy eating habits 2. Cutting down calories with more balanced and nutritious meal intake 3. Eat according to hunger levels 4. Planning meals early can help make better choices 5. Staying adequately hydrated 6. Regular exercising through sports, aerobics, and fitness programs to stay physically fit, to build muscle mass and burn excess body fat and not only to burn calories 7. Practice yoga and meditation regularly for better psychological health 8. Maintaining a proper sleep cycle for at least 6-8 hours 9. Intake of hormonal medicines prescribed by the consulting doctor at suggested times 10. Stay away from stress to keep cortisol and insulin levels under control Asserting that making simple lifestyle changes can help manage PCOS better, Dr Kavita Pujar advised, “Opting for healthier meal options instead of foods made with refined flour or with high amounts of sugar, processed or packaged can make a significant difference. In some women, having gluten and dairy free food can provide much needed relief from inflammatory issues like acne or premenstrual syndromes, thus helping in maintaining healthy weight.” Coping up the right way PCOS can affect one’s self-esteem owing to the several physical changes and health issues it can cause and not every girl will have the similar symptoms and signs but in a nutshell, the problem remains the same. Dr Kavita Pujar explained, “It is necessary to take the right preventive measures to reduce the intensity of the physical symptoms and tackle emotional health better. Therefore, it is better to start small and have effective results thereafter. Post diagnosis, check with your gynecologist for medicines that can not only normalize menstrual cycle but also help control excessive hair growth or acne. These medicines essentially control the androgen levels in the body. If such hormonal medicines do not show much change, consult a dermatologist for further treatment.” She elaborated, “Feeling anxious or depressed also needs to be tackled tactfully. Talking to a therapist can help. Try to build a positive environment around them, listen to their problems and sort them out to build their confidence in themselves. Lastly, in most cases, despite identifying the signs and symptoms of PCOS, many women choose to self-medicate or delay treatment, which can in turn lead to health risks in future. It is, thus, advisable to consult a gynecologist at the onset of identifying symptoms and get treated on time.”

Texas A&M Vs. Mississippi State Live Stream, Watch Online, TV Channel, Kickoff Time, Odds, Prediction – CBS Sports https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/texas-am-vs-mississippi-state-live-stream-watch-online-tv-channel-kickoff-time-odds-prediction-cbs-sports/ There’s more than one pivotal SEC West matchup Saturday and when No. 17 Texas A&M heads to the road to face Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi, there could be as much drama as the Alabama-Arkansas game. After all, the Aggies are trying to avoid a 3-2 start after sky-high preseason expectations, while the Bulldogs need a conference win with a brutal slate ahead. Since losing to Appalachian State, Texas A&M has recovered with back-to-back wins over Miami and Arkansas, respectively, but it has not always been pretty. Even after making the change to Max Johnson at quarterback, the Aggies have struggled to find the end zone. Things will only get worse with wide receiver Ainias Smith done for the year with a leg injury. The good news is the defense has been able to hold their opponents in check, and that will need to continue against Mike Leach’s Air Raid scheme. Mississippi State is still searching for its first SEC victory after falling apart in the fourth quarter against LSU. The Bulldogs need to find a way to win one soon because this game kicks off a difficult stretch that includes home games against Texas A&M and No. 20 Arkansas before going on the road to face No. 7 Kentucky and No. 2 Alabama. Two weeks after that, Mississippi State travels to Athens for a game against No. 1 Georgia. This is a critical game for head coach Mike Leach and his program. This matchup between SEC West foes could have a big impact on the standings at the end of the season. How to watch Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State live Date: Saturday, Oct. 1 | Time: 4 p.m. ET Location: Davis Wade Stadium — Starkville, Mississippi TV: SEC Network | Live stream: fuboTV (Try for free) Three players to watch Devon Achane, Texas A&M RB: With both Texas A&M quarterbacks struggling and Smith on the shelf for the rest of the year, the Aggies will be relying on Achane even more the rest of the way. He posted 1,171 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore, and he is off to a good start in 2022. Through the first four games, Achane has 355 rushing yards, 71 receiving yards and four total touchdowns. If the Aggies are going to move the ball against Mississippi State, Achane will have to do most of the work. Will Rogers, Mississippi State QB: Following a strong sophomore campaign of his own, a lot was expected out of Rogers this year. Against Mississippi State’s three nonconference opponents, Rogers has completed 78.9% of his passes for 1,172 yards, 15 touchdowns and two interceptions. Against LSU, Rogers completed 57.1% of his throws for 214 yards with one score and a pick. He will have to take his game up a notch in order for the Bulldogs to take down the Aggies this weekend. Antonio Johnson, Texas A&M DB: Johnson is a highly touted prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he landed at No. 15 overall in the latest mock draft by CBS Sports expert Chris Trapasso. So far, Johnson has given scouts a lot to like. He has amassed 38 total tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack. With the Aggies offense still trying to hit its stride, Johnson and the rest of the defense will have to pick up the slack and keep Mississippi State off the board. Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State prediction Odds via Caesars Sportsbook This is a battle of two relatively strong defenses, so the prediction will come down to which side is better on offense. With the Aggies’ lackluster quarterback play this season, and the injury to Smith, it’s hard to trust them offensively. Even though Rogers struggled against LSU in Death Valley, he should be better at home and is the far more proven signal-caller in this matchup. The Bulldogs put enough points on the scoreboard to win the game and cover the spread. Prediction: Mississippi State -3.5

We Want To Utilise Metaverse To Enable Monetisation Opportunities For Creators: VP, Global Business Group At Meta – BusinessLine https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/we-want-to-utilise-metaverse-to-enable-monetisation-opportunities-for-creators-vp-global-business-group-at-meta-businessline/ As the introduction of Reels boosts engagement across Meta’s various platforms, VP Global Business Group at Meta Nicola Mendelsohn, emphasised Meta’s goal to utilise metaverse technologies to create monetisation opportunities for creators. Meta claims that since the introduction of Reels on Instagram in 2020, the company has been able to create a massive community of creators, which has also driven engagement on the platform. Consequently, Mendelsohn notes that creators can utilise Meta’s pivot to Web 3.0 to truly drive further engagement: from creating digital collectibles, 3D avatars, and NFTs, to utilising augmented and virtual reality for monetisation purposes. Monetisation opportunities Meta’s emphasis on the utilisation of Web 3.0 for monetisation purposes is novel, especially as presently, the majority of monetisation opportunities on Reels are restricted to product sponsorships and dedicated creator funds for a certain category of influencers on Meta’s various platforms. Speaking on Creator Day 2022 in Mumbai on Friday, Mendelsohn noted that influencers and brands can bring NFTs to a wider audience using their follower base on Meta’s various platforms. “We want to help create monetisation opportunities, such as bringing NFTs to a wider audience. By enabling sharing of digital collectibles on Instagram. We see brands and creators utilisation of AR, VR and in an amazingly creative way, which will only continue as we expand further towards metaverse,” she said.  “We are committed to being a playground where creators and users can interact and redefine engagement,” Mendelsohn added.  Ajit Mohan, MD & VP, Facebook India (Meta) who also attended the event noted, “We are big fans of creators. Everything we do, all our products and features are based on one thought: how can we empower the people who have a story to tell, an insight to share, a song to dance to? Without a doubt, a key pillar of India’s new economy is going to be built and fuelled by people like you.”

New Book Google Glass: Remember The Internet No. 3 Chronicles carnival Of Failure Business Insider
New Book ‘Google Glass: Remember The Internet No. 3’ Chronicles ‘carnival Of Failure’ – Business Insider https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/new-book-google-glass-remember-the-internet-no-3-chronicles-carnival-of-failure-business-insider/ A new book, “Google Glass: Remember the Internet no. 3” chronicles the development of the wearable device. Author Quinn Myers described Google Glass’ debut as a “carnival of failure.” Despite significant hype from developers and fans, Google Glass never made it to the commercial market. Loading Something is loading. Google Glass, the early 2010s would-be phenom that never made it to market, made a lasting impact on augmented reality technology — and its public perception — despite the device’s lackluster launch and eventual discontinuation. The wearable, computerized glasses aimed to revolutionize personal tech and replace cell phones, but its public debut was a “carnival of failure,” according to Quinn Myers, author of “Google Glass: Remember the Internet no. 3.” Released on September 20, the book chronicles the creation of the wearable device through a series of interviews with its developers, fans, and critics, tracking its meteoric rise and fizzling end. While the devices have been largely relegated to punchlines of jokes about tech bros, Myers argues the Google Glass legacy offers lessons on privacy, AR technology, and corporate responsibility. “Dunking on Glass is not just fun and easy: it’s our only hope if we want a future where corporations can still feel shame and where our tech overlords can still be persuaded to help solve our most dire problems instead of creating new ones that destroy us all,” Myers writes in the conclusion his book.  Though Myers condemns the attempt Google made to “reprogram the entire human race” using Glass, he argues the devices may have succeeded were it not for key flaws — not just in the technology and design, which have been mercilessly mocked for years — but because of poor marketing that exacerbated the divide between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots.’ Google did not respond to Insider’s request for comment. Headaches, both literal and figurative Announced on April 4, 2012, the ambitious project aimed to allow users to stay connected “through notifications about what’s going on in the digital world, and being able to socially share your experiences,” Sebastian Thrun, who founded the Google X research lab responsible for Google Glass and other projects like self-driving cars, said in an interview for Myers’ book.  A team of Google engineers sought to develop the technology needed to achieve that by utilizing augmented reality to project information through the lenses of glasses, allowing users to gesture and speak to control the device.  Early iterations, some so large they had to be stored in backpacks, suffered from issues like overheating and short battery life. Even as the tech advanced, Glass users reported headaches, dizziness, and eye strain because they were forced to look toward unnatural angles to use the device.  Brin wearing Google Glass in 2013. Jeff Chiu/AP “When we started, I was always excited about augmented reality, and a lot of the vision that we had for it involved that,” Babak Parviz, a director at Google X who formerly lead the Glass team and is credited with creating the headset, said in an interview for Myers’ book, “But very quickly it became clear that the state of the technology was not there for us to do it.” Technology constraints also contributed to Glass’ clunky look, which, despite bringing in a design specialist to help streamline the specs, remained unfashionable. Engineering problems around head shape, the eye box, and optics factories left it impossible to improve at the time, Myers wrote.  While the early-development technology limited the utility for Google Glass upon its debut — it could perform basic searches, display map directions, send and receive messages, take pictures and record short video clips — the avid fanbase behind Google’s device may have carried it through the early years of debugging and troubleshooting if Glass had not also faced tremendous public backlash and what ultimately proved to be an insurmountable marketing problem.  From “Explorers” to “Glassholes” In its initial announcement about the prototype device, Google released a video titled “One Day” which teased what users may be able to do while wearing Glass — showing a man scheduling his day, responding to messages, and navigating his errands using his glasses. The video immediately attracted viral attention from excited would-be consumers. Two months later, at the June Google I/O conference in 2012, the Project Glass team demonstrated the power of Glass by livestreaming the view a parachuter had while jumping out of a blimp. The devices were featured on the runway of New York Fashion Week in September 2012. That October, TIME named Glass its “Invention of the Year.”  Google co-founder Sergey Brin and designers Diane Von Furstenberg and Yvan Mispelaere walk the runway at the Diane Von Furstenberg show during Spring 2013 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at The Theatre at Lincoln Center on September 9, 2012 in New York City. Jason Kempin/WireImage Glass was wildly anticipated from the moment it was announced and inspired fervor for its futuristic feeling interface, promising an integrated user experience that would be a major advancement in the next generation of wearable technology — two years before the Apple Watch ushered in a wave of people who prefer their accessories computerized. That anticipation kept Glass in the headlines through its public release. In early 2013, Google hosted a Twitter competition encouraging users to submit what they’d do #IfIHadGlass in hopes of winning a chance to buy a pair of Glass for a $1,500 pricetag, plus travel expenses to pick it up and be trained to use the device in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York. The hefty expense, coupled with an early adopter audience that consisted largely of tech developers and select celebrities, began to shift the public perception of Glass from an exciting innovation for the masses to one which underscored a class divide. “I believe [Glass] became a reference point of wealth, of being special, and I could feel that— because I would wear it every day and bring it to meetings, or go dancing, go to a party,” Thrun said in Myers’ book. “I was celebrated like a rock star because of it, [which] was shocking in the sense that I’m a geek. I’m in the dork category myself…but it had this effect on people.” As more people began to explore the world wearing their Glass devices, spotting a pair in the wild became a bit of a digital game. The Tumblr blog “White Men Wearing Google Glass” became popular, documenting “in the wild” encounters with Glass users, and the portmanteau “Glasshole” was popularized to describe users more engaged with their device than reality. “Glasshole” quickly eclipsed Google’s preferred label of “Explorers” for users of the Glass technology, further damaging its reputation.  US blogger Robert Scoble presents the Google Glass on April 24, 2013 at the “NEXT Berlin” conference in Berlin. Ole Spata/DPA/AFP via Getty Images Already most heavily adopted by engineers and computer scientists, the image of the Glass user got progressively less cool — with a viral image taken from inside a shower by a Glass user exemplifying the product’s image problem.  “The whole episode was such a carnival of failure that it’s honestly hard to say, but I think you could argue the leading reason Glass failed was Google’s marketing,” Myers wrote in a Reddit thread discussing his book.  The device would have been better marketed as a sport-utility camera like a Go-Pro, Myers wrote, which developers realized too late. “Instead, Google tried to market Glass as a piece of high fashion. Their argument was that if they wanted people to wear it all day, they had to convince the public that ~cool and hot people~ wear Glass,” Myers wrote. “So they strapped it onto runway models, celebs, and slapped an exorbitant price tag on it to make it seem exclusive. Unfortunately, the only people who took the bait were rich white dudes, and everything else came crashing down when people started realizing Glass couldn’t actually do what Google promised it could do in their now-infamous “One Day” YouTube video.” Government surveillance and anti-Glass “hate crimes” Even if Google had been able to overcome some of the concerns around its Glass audience — either by lowering the price point or making them widely available to a broader consumer audience — another blow to its public perception was dealt in June 2013.   That summer, National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden revealed — through a series of whistleblowing leaks — that the government accessed and collected data from Google and other tech companies such as Facebook with a program called PRISM.  While there had been some rumblings about privacy worries among non-Glass users prior to the PRISM revelations, Snowden’s information brought to a head the concerns about covert recordings made by users and whether the government may be able to access views seen through Glass devices. Police departments eyed the technology and the device’s potential as a surveillance tool became more obvious and worrying to the public. “If PRISM hadn’t happened, maybe the privacy issues may have passed,” Myers told Insider. “I always come back to Google Home and Alexa and when those first came out people were skeptical and didn’t trust it, but now everyone has Ring doorbells and smart speakers.”  Non-Glass users began targeting those wearing the devices in public, shaming and sometimes attacking them for wearing the potentially privacy-violating glasses in public. Glass users, who had already developed a reputation for being out of touch, lamented the “discrimination” they faced for wearing their gadgets in public. One ...

3 Big Crypto Predictions For October 2022 BeInCrypto
3 Big Crypto Predictions For October 2022 – BeInCrypto https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/3-big-crypto-predictions-for-october-2022-beincrypto/ With another month of Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and most altcoins in red or in a rangebound trajectory all eyes are hoping for greener price charts for top cryptos in the last quarter.  “Wake me up when September ends,” was the predominant sentiment for a majority of cryptocurrency HODLers over the last month. As macro conditions continued to dictate the short-term path for cryptocurrencies, bearish sentiment took over the larger market.  Throughout September, bearish opinions gained much more heat as seen in the red bars below representing how many mentions there are of sell, selling, sold, or bearish. Source: Santiment  Decreased demand  The total fees spent to use a blockchain presents the willingness to spend and demand to use it. Over the last quarter, Bitcoin fees generated just under $30 million from the network, declining from $42.9 million in Q2 2022.  On the other hand, Ethereum fees dropped even further, from $1.29 billion in Q2 to $264 million in Q3 charting a 79% fall quarter over quarter (q-o-q).  While there was a decrease in blockchain demand, prices held relatively well with Bitcoin in consolidation and Ether appreciating by 30% q-o-q.  Additionally, net flows indicated that while BTC saw a neutral sentiment, ETH saw a more bullish stance as compared to BTC. Bitcoin recorded modest inflows into centralized exchanges of under $50 million, higher than the $192 million net outflows from Q2.  For Ether, over $1 billion ETH left exchanges for the fourth straight quarter, while outflows in Q3 were $57 million lower than those from Q2.  3 things to remember in October Bitcoin’s price has struggled to keep up with the psychological support barrier of $20,000 throughout September. Without a good pump from whales and retailers, a significant uptick in price seems like a distant dream. Whale metrics from Santiment presented that there is neither whale accumulation nor major utility in BTC to be excited about at press time. The key-tier BTC whales who hold between 100 and 10,000 BTC are continuing to dump. Over the past year, these key addresses have dropped 3.5% of the supply to addresses that have much less impact on future price movement. In September alone, another 0.4% of BTC’s supply was dumped. In October a key trend to watch out for is would-be whale accumulation.  The amount of unique BTC moving from address to address remains scarce, which has led the NVT signal to present a bearish signal for a second straight month. An uptick in the same could prove to be a bullish indicator.  A look at BTC funding rates presented another worrying trend where traders are longing gradually more and more when the price doesn’t dump. After the longs get high enough, another dump takes place, traders attempt to short temporarily, and they then give up and begin to long again.  Thus, going forward watching the aforementioned key indicators could be crucial. A reversal in these on-chain metrics could present a bullish turn for BTC, ETH, and the larger market.  For Be[In]Crypto’s latest Bitcoin (BTC) analysis, click here Disclaimer All the information contained on our website is published in good faith and for general information purposes only. ‘It Was Pretty Scary’: Jason Aldean Details Las Vegas Shooting Experience – Washington Examiner https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/it-was-pretty-scary-jason-aldean-details-las-vegas-shooting-experience-washington-examiner/ October 01, 2022 06:25 AM Country music star Jason Aldean has opened up in detail about his experience at the Route 91 Festival shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, saying that “it was pretty scary.” The four-part Paramount+ documentary series, 11 Minutes, premiered earlier this week. It features police bodycam video, cellphone video, and interviews, including Aldean’s, detailing the 11-minute-long Oct. 1, 2017, shooting that unfolded as Stephen Paddock sprayed gunfire down from a Mandalay Bay hotel room, killing 58 people that night and leaving more than 800 others injured. Aldean said he tried to keep his wife, Brittany, from seeing the carnage as they exited toward his tour bus. “It didn’t sink into us, like, something was wrong until Jason Aldean’s security ushered him off the stage.” Country superstar Jason Aldean has never spoken in depth about the night of the Las Vegas shooting – until now. The police had an armored vehicle there. You just know it’s not good. It looks like a bomb went off. I told my wife, ‘Keep your head down. Look at your feet. Don’t look around, and let’s get out of here.'” Recording artist Dee Jay Silver also shared how police escorted him through the crowd as he stepped over bodies on the ground. “Long story short, we ended up on a tour bus and laid on the floor, and I get a text, ‘What room is your kid in?’ I said, ’32-130.’ He said, ‘The shooter’s in 32-135, a couple hundred feet [away].'” Knowing there was nothing he could do, Silver said that “every emotion in the world” flooded him. “SWAT walked in and kicked in the door and grabbed the baby, ran out,” Silver said. “The whole time, I knew this, but I couldn’t tell my wife because she would’ve been [so scared].” “I went blank,” Silver added about the situation overall. “I didn’t know how to react. Everyone around is screaming and crying, and I didn’t want to add to it. The whole time, I didn’t have anyone to ask the advice of what to do. The phone was dead, and everything imaginable that you think can run through times 10.” CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER Clark County, Nevada, has scheduled multiple events to honor the victims and survivors of the Route 91 Festival shooting. Hawaii Travel Update A Brand-New Surfing Vacation Experience Comes To Oahu Forbes
Hawaii Travel Update – A Brand-New Surfing Vacation Experience Comes To Oahu – Forbes https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/hawaii-travel-update-a-brand-new-surfing-vacation-experience-comes-to-oahu-forbes/ getty Hawaii is the birthplace of surfing, and it was Hawaiian legend Duke Kahanamoku – a 5-time Olympic swimming medalist – who popularized the sport beyond the islands. He brought it from Honolulu to places that would become world renowned surfing hotpots, including Southern California and Sydney, Australia. But Hawaii remains most associated with the sport, and Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach is still regarded as one of the top places to learn for first timers, while other spots in Hawaii have far more challenging waves and host some of the biggest competitions, like famed Jaws on Maui’s north shore and the pipeline breaks of Oahu’s north shore. getty Now there is an entirely new surfing hotspot coming to the 50th state in the form of a “waterfront recreation and lifestyle venue,” which among other things will house the world’s largest deep-water standing wave. Wai Kai is the first development of its kind in Hawaii, a year-round destination surf park that includes the world’s largest deep-water standing surf wave, a 52-acre lagoon for water sports, three restaurants, a large event lawn with waterfront fire pits, beach with cabanas, boardwalk, a waterman’s club and retail shop. Overlooking the turquoise waters of the Pacific, Wai Kai is just 35-minutes from Honolulu, inside the Hoakalei Resort on Ewa Beach, a 726-acre master planned real estate community development with over 3,000 homes and a golf club. The main attraction will be the Wai Kai Wave, powered by Citywave, a technology that recreates authentic surfing conditions with endless, adjustable waves ranging from two- to six-feet for all skill levels. Citywave is a German company that has installed its high-tech artificial standing waves for surfing around the globe from Japan to Israel and in several locations across Europe. The wave is 100-feet-wide and can be split into three sections, allowing up to three surfers at a time to ride with no danger of collisions, with another 30 waiting in the “barefoot zone,” on the dividers in between. Beginners can use a grab bar to learn more easily, and the wave can be cranked up to “big air” levels for experts. It has been designed to emulate famous natural local standing river waves like the Waimea River Sand Bar on Oahu North Shore. Oahu’s-own Shane Beschen, an X Games Gold Medalist and former World Number Two ranked pro surfer collaborated in the design of the Wai Kai Wave. In addition, Beschen and other former and current professional surfers will be available for hands-on instruction and lessons. Wai Kai The big wave overlooks the Wai Kai Lagoon, a protected area for stand-up paddling, kayaking, outrigger canoeing, peddle boats and piloted electric boat cruises. There is a sandy beach near the water for lounging, with cabanas. Major surf and waterman competitions are being planned for the Wai Kai Wave and Wai Kai Lagoon. There will be no shortage of food, with a dual-concept restaurant by Chef Todd Humphries of Kitchen Door Napa, which will include the higher-end Plaza Grill, with lanai seating and unobstructed lagoon views. The lower level will house a more casual counter-service restaurant. The standalone LookOut Bar and Restaurant will offer front-row views of the surf action, and Foam Coffee & Bar rounds out the offerings. Wai Kai just announced a February 10, 2023 grand opening date, and if you plan to visit Hawaii this winter and want to check it out, reservations are expected to go live in November. It’s an easy day trip from Honolulu, and if you’ve never surfed before, a chance to give it a try in a controlled atmosphere, perhaps followed up by a lesson in the real surf. Ukraine Official: Russia Shells Civilian Convoy, Kills 20 | Business News | Wfmz.com – 69News WFMZ-TV https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/ukraine-official-russia-shells-civilian-convoy-kills-20-business-news-wfmz-com-69news-wfmz-tv/ KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — A senior Ukrainian official says Russian forces on Saturday shelled a civilian evacuation convoy in the country’s northeast, killing 20 people. Bombardments have intensified as Moscow illegally annexed a swath of Ukrainian territory in a sharp escalation of the war. Kharkiv region Gov. Oleh Syniehubov said the convoy was struck in the Kupiansy district, calling the attack on people who were trying to flee the area to avoid being shelled “сruelty that can’t be justified.” Russian forces have not acknowledged or commented on the attack, apparently the second in two days to hit a humanitarian convoy. Russian troops have retreated from much of the Kharkiv region after a successful Ukrainian counteroffensive last month but continued to shell the area. The attack comes at a pivotal moment in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war. Facing a Ukrainian counteroffensive, Putin this week heightened threats of nuclear force and used his most aggressive, anti-Western rhetoric to date. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his military vowed to keep fighting to liberate the annexed regions and other Russian-occupied areas. Ukrainian officials said Saturday that their forces had surrounded thousands of Russian forces holding the strategic eastern city of Lyman, which is located in one of the four incorporated areas. Zelenskyy formally applied Friday for Ukraine to join NATO, increasing pressure on Western allies to help defend the country. Also Saturday Ukraine’s nuclear power provider said that Russian forces blindfolded and detained the head of Europe’s largest nuclear plant. It appeared to be an attempt to secure Moscow’s hold on the newly annexed territory. Russian forces seized the director-general of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Ihor Murashov, around 4 p.m. Friday, Ukrainian state nuclear company Energoatom said. That was just hours after Putin signed treaties to absorb Moscow-controlled Ukrainian territory into Russia, including the area around the nuclear plant. Energoatom said Russian troops stopped Murashov’s car, blindfolded him and then took him to an undisclosed location. Russia did not immediately acknowledge seizing the plant director. The International Atomic Energy Agency, which has staff at the plant, said it was aware of the reports of Murashov’s capture, and had contacted Russian authorities for clarification on what happened. “His detention by (Russia) jeopardizes the safety of Ukraine and Europe’s largest nuclear power plant,” said Energoatom President Petro Kotin said, demanding the director’s immediate release. The power plant repeatedly has been caught in the crossfire of the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian technicians continued running it after Russian troops seized the power station, and its last reactor was shut down in September as a precautionary measure amid ongoing shelling nearby. Amid growing international sanctions and condemnation of Russia, a Ukrainian counteroffensive that has embarrassed the Kremlin appeared on the verge of retaking more ground. A Ukrainian official said Saturday that the Russian-occupied city of Lyman was surrounded, with some 5,000 Russian forces trapped there. Luhansk Gov. Serhiy Haidai claimed that all routes to resupply Russian forces in Lyman were blocked. “The occupiers asked their leadership for the opportunity to leave, which they refused,” Haidai said in a television interview. “Now they have three options: to try to break through, to surrender or to die together.” His claims could not immediately be verified. Russia has not confirmed its forces were cut off, and Russian analysts had said Moscow was sending more troops to the area. The Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said Ukraine likely will retake Lyman in the coming days. Citing Russian reports, the institute said it appeared Russian forces were retreating from Lyman, some 160 kilometers (100 miles) southeast of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city. That corresponds to online videos purportedly showing some Russian forces falling back as a Ukrainian soldier said they had reached Lyman’s outskirts. It said Ukraine also was making “incremental” gains around Kupiansk and the eastern bank of the Oskil River, which became a key front line since the Ukrainian counteroffensive regained control of the Kharkiv region in September. The Russian army struck the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv twice overnight, once with drones and the second time with missiles, according to regional Gov. Vitaliy Kim. The first attack was conducted with Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drones and the second with S-300 missiles, he said on Telegram. One of the rockets hit a five-story apartment building in the city center, while windows of the surrounding houses were blown out. In another part of the city, a private house and a two-story residential building suffered extensive damage. Five people were injured, including a 3-month-old baby, Kim said. In its heaviest barrage in weeks, Russia’s military on Friday pounded Ukrainian cities with missiles, rockets and suicide drones, with one strike in the Zaporizhzhia region’s capital killing 30 and wounding 88. In a daily intelligence briefing Saturday, the British Defense Ministry said the Russians “almost certainly” struck a humanitarian convoy there with S-300 anti-aircraft missiles. Russia is increasingly using anti-aircraft missiles to conduct attacks on the ground likely due to a lack of munitions, the British military said. “Russia is expending strategically valuable military assets in attempts to achieve tactical advantage and in the process is killing civilians it now claims are its own citizens,” it said. The attack came while Putin was preparing to sign the annexation treaties, which included the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian-installed officials in Zaporizhzhia blamed Ukrainian forces, but gave no evidence. Russia now claims sovereignty over 15% of Ukraine, in what NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called “the largest attempted annexation of European territory by force since the Second World War.” The NATO chief was meeting Saturday with Denmark’s prime minister amid investigations into explosions on Russian pipelines in the Baltic Sea. International Day Of Older Persons 2022: 5 Lifestyle Tips For Healthy Aging | TheHealthSite.com – TheHealthSite https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/international-day-of-older-persons-2022-5-lifestyle-tips-for-healthy-aging-thehealthsite-com-thehealthsite/ People frequently stress the significance of ageing gracefully. However, many people find it relatively normal, especially those aware of and accepting the biological changes associated with ageing, such as wrinkles, drooping skin, and health problems. Senior citizens must understand that ageing may be stress-free and joyful if one is committed to living a healthy lifestyle. Dr J.N.Jha, cardiologist and Associate professor at NIIMS, shares five healthy habits for longevity. 1. Exercise regularly:Lethargy and exhaustion are natural parts of being older, but older adults should be aware that not moving around enough might be bad for their health. It can impact joint flexibility, weaken bones and physical stamina, and raise cardiovascular disease and stroke risks. On the other hand, the body can benefit greatly from regular exercises, stretching, walking, gardening, etc. Additionally, yoga greatly enhances overall health and muscle tone. 2. Sleep well: As people age, their sleeping habits usually change. Significant issues for many older adults include insomnia, sleep apnea, and difficulties getting good sleep. However, maintaining sound physical and mental health depends on getting enough sleep. The recommended minimum sleep for adults over 65 is 8 hours per day. Senior adults can improve their sleeping patterns by creating a regimen, getting to bed earlier, and using deep breathing and relaxation techniques. 3. Find new interests: Reading, writing, and crossword puzzle solving significantly improve memory. Understanding your stress causes and how to deal with them is equally important. A person’s emotional and physical health is greatly enhanced by maintaining social connections. 4. Maintain a Healthy Diet: Anyone, regardless of age, should choose nutritious meals over junk food. Depending on their health, older adults must maintain a diet. People with hypertension, for example, should consume less sodium or “salt.” A healthy diet must include the consumption of fruits and vegetables. For the body to sustain energy levels, adequate water intake is just as important as meals. 5. Schedule routine medical exams: Regular doctor visits and diagnostic testing will aid in finding concealed health issues and treating them before they worsen. In addition, your health circumstances can be discussed with a specialist to gain new perspectives on age-related handling issues successfully. Every step must be taken to assure that health issues are identified early, and the appropriate treatment is sought, whether through dental care or examinations for eyesight and hearing ability. Arsenal Vs. Tottenham Live Score, Updates, Highlights & Lineups As Gunners Make Bright Start In North London Derby – Sporting News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/arsenal-vs-tottenham-live-score-updates-highlights-lineups-as-gunners-make-bright-start-in-north-london-derby-sporting-news/ A year and five days after Arsenal beat Spurs 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, both teams are in a markedly different scenario as they prepare for the first north London derby of the 2022/23 season. The neighbours had each lost three of their first six fixtures at that point. A game further on this time, Spurs remain unbeaten and the Gunners are top of the table, winning their sixth out of seven in style by beating Brentford 3-0 away on September 18. Victory in the early kick-off on Matchday 8 would guarantee either side top spot, although a Spurs win would give reigning champions Manchester City the chance to overtake them with a win at home to Manchester United the following day. The Sporting News is following the match live and providing live score updates and commentary. Perisic is in plenty of space outside the penalty area, advancing before cracking his shot well wide – to cheers from the home fans. 27 mins: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham Martinelli and Jesus play a sharp one-two inside the penalty area on the left. Royal pinches the ball from Jesus’s foot just before he tries to pull the trigger. 23 mins: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham There were 22 Arsenal passes before that superb opening goal by Partey. Slick. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) October 1, 2022 22 mins: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham It was notable that Xhaka gathered the Arsenal players in a Steven Gerrard-style huddle immediately after the goal. Perhaps a little cringeworthy, but also understandable given the need for the hosts not to get carried away with the dominant start they’ve made. 21 mins: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham That was one hell of a strike by Partey – some goal to start the Premier League weekend! Saka teased Son and Perisic on the edge of the Spurs penalty area on the right, then cut the ball back to Ben White in a more central position. The defender fed Thomas Partey further away from goal, who curled in a glorious first-time strike that dipped too quickly for Lloris to have had much chance of keeping it out at his near post! 20 mins: Arsenal 1-0 Tottenham Arsenal lead with a wonderful strike from Partey! Arteta rushes towards his staff to exuberantly celebrate! 17 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Fifty-two percent of play has taken place in Tottenham’s defensive third. Arsenal are dominating here – it’ll have to be a smash-and-grab for Spurs if this continues, which they’ve shown they’re capable of with that Richarlison attempt. 15 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Granit Xhaka was excellent in Switzerland’s win at home to the Czech Republic on Tuesday. He canters forward here, approaches the penalty area and drills a low diagonal shot just wide of Lloris’s left-hand post. 14 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Ben White advances, receives a low pass from Partey outside the penalty area on the right and lashes a shot comfortably over the target. He’ll feel he should have hit the target. 14 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham The returning Odegaard takes aim from well outside the penalty area, sending a low shot into the arms of Lloris. 13 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Ramsdale denies Richarlison! Son swings the free-kick into the penalty area, where Kane applies a touch to send the ball into the feet of the Brazil livewire, who stabs a shot towards the far post. Arsenal’s goalkeeper is down quickly to paw the danger away. Best chance to Tottenham, so far! 12 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Kane wins a free-kick almost midway inside Arsenal territory on Tottenham’s right. Could this be the first chance Spurs create? 10 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Martinelli is full of pace and trickery as he sets off on a lightning run down the left, evading Royal and trying to flick the ball between his marker and the backtracking Richarlison. The Brazilian concedes a free-kick for over-earnestness in the end but that was an enjoyable piece of old-fashioned wing wizardry. 8 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Tottenham’s quiet start won’t discourage them against opponents who’ve gone eight Premier League matches without a clean sheet here. Conte, as you’d probably expect, is already off his feet and beyond the confines of his technical area to offer instructions. 6 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Dier goes down after a challenge with Jesus. There didn’t appear to be much in that. 5 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Spurs haven’t come anywhere near enhancing this stat – yet. So far this season, no side has attempted more shots on target than Spurs (48) in the Premier League. In fact, Antonio Conte’s side have also hit the target with 61% of their shots – the highest percentage of any team.#ARSTOT pic.twitter.com/TUaltBAo9q — Sporting News Football Club (@sn_footballclub) October 1, 2022 4 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Arsenal look much more intense than Spurs during these opening stages. Saka finds Xhaka at the far post with a cross from the right, who can only flick out a leg and divert the ball behind. Plenty for Lloris to be worried about within the opening five minutes. Can Arsenal keep up this pace? 3 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Saka scampers down the right and evades Perisic with a cross towards the far post, where Richarlison can’t stop Martinelli from firing a half-volley towards goal. There’s a bit of confusion as to whether the effort comes off the post, is parried behind by Lloris or a combination of both. A corner is awarded, from which Martinelli wastes a cross, blazing it behind. 2 mins: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Xhaka flicks the throw-in back towards the centre of the penalty area from the near post. Tottenham send the danger behind. Lloris punches the ensuing corner away. An encouraging start from Arsenal! 1 min: Arsenal 0-0 Tottenham Tottenham, attacking from right to left, start us off, attempting an attack down the left in the opening minute. Then Arsenal win possession back and set off through the middle with Jesus and Odegaard, winning a throw-in in a useful position on the left. 3 mins from kickoff: The teams have emerged from the tunnel! Influential Arsenal mascot Gunnersaurus was to their left as they strode out. 5 mins from kickoff: Cesc Fabregas is – to some – royalty in this rivalry, and the former Arsenal midfielder has been standing on the pitch sharing his reflections. “It’s difficult,” he tells BT Sport of preparing for the game. “You know exactly what is coming. You don’t need any special team talk. “I was just driving around the streets and you miss the feeling of these kinds of games. We play football for days like this. You don’t feel the adrenaline like you do on days like today very often.” Ready to represent pic.twitter.com/hbXrfFQaIo — Arsenal (@Arsenal) October 1, 2022 15 mins from kickoff: Spurs manager Antonio Conte has had a chat. “This is an important north London derby for the present, the future, for us and for Arsenal,” he tells BT Sport. “I pick the formation that is the best to start this run of 13 games [before the World Cup] – we have to play in the Champions League in three days.” Conte says Kulusevski has a muscle problem and needs an MRI scan. “We have to try to recover Ben Davies,” he adds. “Lucas Moura is out and I’m really worried about his situation because he’s not recovering. Richarlison had a good time with the national team and he’s in good form so it’s right for him to start.” — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) October 1, 2022 30 mins from kickoff: Arsenal are warming up in their eye-catching training tops – surely beloved of Magic Eye fans – in front of an Emirates Stadium that is gradually filling. Perhaps a little harsh on Vieira after his spectacular strike at Brentford last time out, although captain Odegaard was never going to be left out when fit. Tierney’s early departure from Scotland’s match against Ireland with suspected concussion has likely given Arteta extra reason to restore Zinchenko – so impressive in his early appearances for the club before suffering an injury – from the start. — Arsenal (@Arsenal) October 1, 2022 60 mins from kickoff: Tottenham have arrived! The visitors make three changes today: Son, Romero and Royal replacing Kulusevski, Sessegnon and Sanchez. The Sweden playmaker’s absence through injury could prove a significant setback for Spurs but the combination of Son and Richarlison, both of whom scored on international duty during the week, should make for entertaining viewing. One added incentive for Spurs is the the opportunity to go 14 Premier League games unbeaten for the third time in their history if they avoid defeat today, having previously set and equalled their record during the 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons. Oscar Mayo, executive director of Laliga, stated: LaLiga Tech was created to help sports and entertainment accelerate their digital transformation, and the surge in demand we have seen shows that this remains a core priority for the industry. Partnering with Globant will allow us to continue this growth at a global scale while creating the most immersive and valuable technologies for our clients. Laliga’s Metaverse Movements Laliga is one of the sports league organizations that has been making several movements to digitize part of its operations. Indian Crypto Exchange WazirX Lays Off 40% Of Its Employees: Sources – CoinDesk https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/indian-crypto-exchange-wazirx-lays-off-40-of-its-employees-sources-coindesk/ Amitoj Singh is CoinDesk’s regulatory reporter covering India. He holds BTC and ETH below CoinDesk’s disclosure threshold of $1,000. Indian exchange WazirX has laid off several employees, the company said in a statement shared with CoinDesk on Saturday. 50 to as many as 70 employees or 40% of the exchange’s workforce of 150, were laid off, three sources familiar with the matter told CoinDesk. The laid off workers were told on Friday they would be paid for 45 days, they would not be required to report for work henceforth and their accesses were withdrawn simultaneously. “The crypto market has been in the grip of a bear market because of the current global economic slowdown,” WazirX said in a statement on Saturday. “The Indian crypto industry has had its unique problems with respect to taxes, regulations and banking access. This has lead to a dramatic fall in volumes in all Indian crypto exchanges.” “As India’s No 1. exchange, our priority is to be financially stable and to continue serving our customers,” the company said. “To achieve this, we’ve had to reduce our staff to weather the crypto winter. This situation is similar to the trying times the industry faced in 2018; at that time, we doubled down and built our innovative P2P engine. The crypto industry operates in cycles and the bear market is inevitably followed by a spectacular bull market. We will continue to focus on our customer needs and continue to build. We are confident that we will come out stronger when the bull market arrives.” One of the sources said “the workforce has been cut from several departments including customer support, HR, and other departments. Managers, Analysts, Associate Managers/Team leaders were among those laid off.” The entire public policy and communication team was fired, according to another employee who lost his job. “The company was never really forthcoming or transparent with its financial position, either when it was doing well or now,” said one of the WazirX employees who lost his job “abruptly” on Friday. WazirX daily trading volumes have been steadily declining from a one year high of 478 million on October 28, 2021 to 1.5 million on October 1, 2022, according to CoinGecko data. Trading volumes on some days have been lower than a million and “this is not enough to support operations,” the sources said. The decline in trading volumes began shortly after India’s implementation of harsh crypto tax laws in March, 2022, when WazirX Co-Founder Nischal Shetty told CoinDesk “we have entered a period of pain.” In recent days, the Indian exchange has been faced with a slew of problems including an online spat between Shetty and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao about whether Binance is the parent company of the Indian exchange. Daily trading volumes were around 5 million around the time of the spat but after, its volumes dropped to less than 2 million, according to CoinGecko data. “During one all hands meeting after the online spat we were told we have decent reserves so we are financially safe,” two employees who were laid off said. WazirX has also been a target of a money laundering investigation launched by India’s Directorate of Enforcement, which included a raid against one of WazirX’s directors. U.S. Grapples With Risk Of Nuclear War Over Ukraine Axios
U.S. Grapples With Risk Of Nuclear War Over Ukraine – Axios https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/u-s-grapples-with-risk-of-nuclear-war-over-ukraine-axios/ The U.S. and its NATO allies are urgently grappling with a question that once seemed to have faded along with the Cold War: Will Moscow go nuclear? The big picture: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s nuclear threats are growing more direct as his battlefield position in Ukraine grows more precarious. After warning last week that Russia would consider using nuclear weapons, Putin added: “This is not a bluff.” National Security adviser Jake Sullivan conceded Friday that it might well not be. “There is a risk, given all the loose talk and the nuclear saber-rattling by Putin, that he would consider this,” he said. Sullivan said the White House had informed the Kremlin of the “decisive” action the U.S. would take if Putin follows through. Driving the news: Sullivan was responding to an address in which Putin confirmed Russia was extending its nuclear umbrella to four newly annexed territories of Ukraine. Putin also said the U.S. had itself “set a precedent” for the use of nuclear weapons when it bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Between the lines: Putin seems to believe that if he can convince the U.S. and its NATO allies that he’s willing to use nuclear weapons over Ukraine, they will pressure Kyiv to surrender, says Alexander Gabuev of the Carnegie Endowment. The problem for Putin is the Ukrainian government, military and public believe they’re on course for victory, and won’t be deterred by nuclear threats, Gabuev says. The U.S., meanwhile, is only increasing its arms shipments to Ukraine. But if Ukraine continues to re-take territory Putin has now claimed is part of Russia, he may believe his only option is escalation. Putin’s recent moves suggest he “views this war as existential for himself, for his personal survival maybe, for his legacy and for his country,” Gabuev says. Yes, but: We’re not yet at the top of the “escalation ladder,” Gabuev notes. Putin could knock out electricity to major Ukrainian cities, conduct air and missile strikes on particularly sensitive targets, or even use chemical weapons on the battlefield before he reaches for the world’s largest nuclear arsenal. But Gabuev believes in the last two weeks, the chances of a nuclear strike moved from “single digits” to “double digits.” If Putin does use nuclear weapons, he could seek a “demonstration effect” — perhaps by detonating a nuclear weapon over the Black Sea or in the Arctic — or deploy a smaller-yield “tactical” nuclear weapon on the battlefield, says Andrea Kendall-Taylor of the Center for a New American Security. The U.S. would not likely go nuclear in response, but it could conduct a conventional military strike on Russian soil — perhaps targeting the site or unit behind the Russian launch — and pursue non-military steps like permanently seizing Russian central bank reserves, Kendall-Taylor says. Rose Gottemoeller, the former Deputy Secretary General of NATO, would expect a “strong non-nuclear” military response, as well as major diplomatic costs for Putin. “He will lose the global south, which for him should be a great shame because he’s been very clever at keeping them on his side,” she tells Axios. Sullivan said the U.S. had privately made clear to the Russians what its responses would be, but “we’re not going to telegraph these things publicly.” The administration would certainly seek to rally global consequences and condemnation, including from fence-sitting countries like China and India. Retired general Ben Hodges, who commanded U.S. forces in Europe, has said if Russia conducts a nuclear attack in Ukraine, the U.S. could destroy Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. However, that would risk a Russian counterstrike and potentially all-out war. What to watch: The battering Russia’s military is taking in Ukraine could contribute to further nuclear standoffs, even after the war, Kendall-Taylor says. “The more degraded and vulnerable they are in conventional terms, the more they’re going to double down on non-conventional things” like nuclear weapons.

Tailor-Made Lenses Available Through New Smart Technology – SHINE https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/tailor-made-lenses-available-through-new-smart-technology-shine/ Editor’s note: Smart medicine is the future of medicine. Information technology, artificial intelligence, and big data are becoming increasingly important in health care, which is becoming more human-centered and convenient. This series, which covers various aspects of the health field, is intended to demonstrate what high technology, smart systems, and inventions are capable of. Shot by Jiang Xiaowei. Edited by Sun Chao. Subtitles by Sun Chao. New smart technology is now being applied to provide tailor-made lenses in line with people’s more specific eyesight needs. It is helping to overcome the discomfort experienced by many people who use contact lenses that don’t ideally fit their eyeball shape or curvature, or rectify individual eyesight issues. “Whereas you can choose various sizes from a collection of ready-to-wear suits, you can also walk into a tailor’s shop and get a hand-made suit completely fitting your body shape,” said Dr Yan Yan from Shanghai Bright Eye Hospital. “Today’s smart medicine also means individualized and tailor-made therapies and services for better treatment effects. The eyes are a very delicate organ, so tailored products can bring much benefit to people,” Yan said. Jiang Xiaowei / SHINE The smart medicine system makes calculations to design a pair of orthokeratology lenses. An improved lens technology was introduced to China late last year and a few eye hospitals are now providing the fully digitalized services for devices such as an orthokeratology lens. Orthokeratology is a common overnight vision correction and corneal refractive therapy. By temporarily reshaping the cornea to reduce refractive errors such as myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism, it is popular for both children and adults. It is a viable alternative to eyeglasses, refractive surgery, or for people who prefer not to wear contact lenses during the day. “Usually, patients have their eyes checked in the hospital and then doctors select the lens style that suits them,” Yan said. “This digital technology collects nearly 10,000 pieces of data about the patient’s eyes and the computer makes a calculation for the most appropriate design of the lens. “Doctors then make adjustments based on a patient’s requirements and additional medical needs. The design is then sent to the manufacturer which produces the lenses.” Jiang Xiaowei / SHINE A tailor-made orthokeratology lens “The lenses are made in line with people’s own eye conditions, overcoming sensations of discomfort from wearing an odd item,” she said. “For children, the benefit is more significant.” In addition to tailored lenses, the smart technology is helping eye surgery to be safer and more accurate. A technology called iOCT, or intraoperative optical coherence tomography, a noninvasive imaging modality, is available in operating theaters. It provides real-time visualization of the ocular structure during surgery and supports the doctor’s decision-making throughout the procedure. “It is such a great improvement. The tool can be called the eye of eye surgeons,” said Dr Wang Fang, president of Shanghai Bright Eye Hospital. “Previously, we didn’t know about the patient’s eye condition without using imaging technology during surgery. Sometimes, the surgery itself could cause damage to the eye, which the doctors couldn’t see in time to adjust during the procedure, as the human eye can’t see such tiny problems,” she said. “Such imaging checks would be done in the outpatient department as it was impossible to move the patient out of the operating theater for a check outside. “As we couldn’t identify the condition until after the surgery was finished, patients sometimes had to undergo a second corrective surgery. “Thanks to iOCT, we can now have a very clear understanding of a patient’s eye condition during the surgery through receiving real-time information. Doctors can make changes or do repairs whenever the tool detects problems and thus avoid surgical damage,” she said. Thus, iOCT can significantly affect surgical decision making and cause a subsequent change in surgical strategy. “The system is an intelligent guide for surgeons.” In addition to eye surgery, Wang said iOCT is also expected to be used on stem cell and gene therapy procedures involving the eyes. What To Stop Doing On Your Trip To Hawaii According To Locals USA TODAY
What To Stop Doing On Your Trip To Hawaii According To Locals USA TODAY
What To Stop Doing On Your Trip To Hawaii, According To Locals – USA TODAY https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/what-to-stop-doing-on-your-trip-to-hawaii-according-to-locals-usa-today/ In pre-pandemic days, over 10 million people would arrive annually to enjoy the Hawaiian Islands. That’s quite a bit of people, considering that the state’s population is about 1.4 million. The impact of the high number of tourists hasn’t gone unnoticed. “Over a century, Hawaii has welcomed many visitors by embracing them with warmth and aloha,” Diana Su, the senior marketing manager of Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa who was raised in Honolulu, said. “However, over decades, the amount of visitors have increased and started depleting the state of its natural resources, damaging the delicate environment, and affecting traditional practices and rituals.”  About two-thirds of Hawaii residents think their “island is being run for tourists at the expense of local people,” a number that has held steady for about five years, according to a 2022 state-sponsored survey asking residents about their sentiment toward tourism. They point out overcrowding, damage to the environment, higher costs and more traffic. BOOK A SPOT: To manage over tourism, are reservation systems the future of traveling to Hawaii? JUST DON’T: Stop throwing coins into hot steam vents, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park asks of ‘disrespectful’ people At the same time, tourism is a pillar of Hawaii’s economy – in fact, it represents a quarter of it, thanks to the jobs it creates in the hospitality industry and visitor spending. It can be a tricky balancing act for people who want to visit Hawaii while minimizing any negative impact on the islands because for so long, people have treated it as their paradisiacal playground. The best people to turn to for advice on this are undeniably the ones who live in Hawaii: locals. Read below to read Hawaii locals wish tourists would stop doing while visiting the islands: 1. Don’t be clueless Su urges people to know their stuff before departing on their trip, so take some time and learn more about Hawaii.  “Avoid coming to Hawaii without doing some research first,” she said. It’s important to know how to “avoid disrespecting sacred sites and respect boundaries and kapu (off-limit) areas.” Take the time to learn about the companies you’re hiring for excursions or tours to make sure they support the community and environment. Making educated choices on where to spend your money and what is considered respectful or disrespectful will make your trip to Hawaii that much better. DON’T BE THAT TOURIST: Here’s how to respectfully visit Hawaii, have an authentic trip 2. Don’t take anything, ever Many visitors to Hawaii take sand, coral or lava rocks from its national parks as memorabilia of their trip to Hawaii. According to Jin Prugsawan Harlow, chief of interpretation, education and volunteers as well as public information officer for Haleakala National Park, taking items from national parks is not only illegal, it’s also culturally inappropriate.  Hawaiians view Haleakala as their ancestor, Harlow said, so taking something from the park is considered highly disrespectful. “People come to Hawaii and (other national parks) because they’re wild, scenic and beautiful,” Harlow said. “And people can play a great role in making sure it stays that way.” THINK TWICE: Stop throwing coins into hot steam vents, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park asks of ‘disrespectful’ people 3. Don’t go during peak hours Traffic in Hawaii is a sore spot, with Honolulu often ranking as one of the most congested cities in the country. With so many tourists out and about on the islands, Harlow suggests to try going to popular attractions during off-hours. “At Haleakala, things can get crowded around the summit around sunset but from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the park is really empty,” she said. “Going to the Kipahulu District, arriving earlier in the day helps you beat crowded parking lots.” 4. Don’t disturb wildlife Hawaii is blessed with many beautiful creatures, some of which are impossible to spot anywhere else in the world, like the Hawaiian monk seal. While spotting these creatures out in the wild is always a treat, keep your distance and make sure to never disturb them or their natural habitat (as in, don’t touch reefs or flip over rocks). In certain cases, it’s illegal to get too close to animals like turtles and nursing seals. Seriously, it’s not worth it. SHARK ATTACK: Tourist taken to hospital after ‘serious bite’ from shark on Maui’s north shore 5. Don’t be reckless outdoors  Hawaii has otherworldly valleys, peaks, shorelines and waterfalls to explore, and as stunning as the experience may be, it can also be dangerous if you’re not careful. A lack of preparation, bad weather conditions and going to unsafe areas that are trending online can often put people at risk. For example, on Kauai, the Kauai Fire Department locked the gate accessing Queen’s Bath, a large tidal pool that can be hazardous, especially when the surf is rough. Still, people sneak in and often end up needing to be rescued. Do your research about hikes or beaches and heed to warning signs – they’re there for a reason.  “One of our most important values, for example, is to respect the land and ocean that provides for us, and we ask that visitors share in this ethos to keep our home beautiful,” Wendy Tuivaioge, Director of Hawaiian Programs at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, said. “Be mindful of your surroundings, do not venture out alone, and stay on well-marked trails.” DO THIS, NOT THAT: You won’t regret these 8 activities when you visit the islands, according to Hawaii locals 6. Don’t use harmful sunscreen Hawaii’s ecosystems are unique and fragile, including its coral reefs, and some sunscreens may play a role in harming the islands’ marine life. In 2018, Hawaii Gov. David Ige passed a law that went into effect in 2021 – making Hawaii the first state – that banned sunscreens containing chemicals believed to damage coral and marine life, oxybenzone and octinoxate. When slathering up with SPF, do your part to protect the ocean by picking reef-safe brands. Some brands that are reef-safe include Raw Elements or Kokua Sun Care, which is made right in the islands. 7. Don’t geotag  It may be tempting to do it for the ‘gram and share your vacation pictures online, but that post may have consequences long after you hit upload.  The rise in social media geotagging and sharing of once hidden spots has caused many across the country to blow up and become overcrowded and overrun, much to the dismay of locals who have been enjoying these more secret places for a long time. If you find yourself at this crossroads, consider the impact of your post. CROWDED SPOTS: Was your favorite hidden vacation spot overexposed? Blame social media and pent-up demand 8. Don’t forget you’re visiting someone’s home At the end of the day, many locals have one reminder: “It’s important for travelers to understand they are visiting someone’s home and draw on the sensibilities that come with that,” Ha’aheo Zablan, general manager of Kaimana Beach Hotel who is also Native Hawaiian, said. “We have amazing visitor-centric opportunities to take in all Hawaii has to offer without venturing into local neighborhoods or exploring too far from resort zones.” For example, people who seek out hikes with trailheads in quiet neighborhoods have been called out for disturbing residents with noise or crowded parking.  Prejean echoes the sentiment: “While Hawaii is a welcoming destination, we do ask that tourists be aware of their surroundings, reduce your ‘footprint’ by leaving the places you visit better than you found it, and to treat the local neighborhoods and people with respect and kindness.”

Boomers Are Flocking To Area’s Beautiful Golf Courses And Communities – Naples Daily News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/boomers-are-flocking-to-areas-beautiful-golf-courses-and-communities-naples-daily-news/ Moorings Park Communities  |  Special to Naples Daily News Mark Twain was once supposed to have quipped, “Golf is a good walk, spoiled.” It’s not a sentiment shared by too many of the sport’s many devotees. “Twain never had the opportunity to play on a Rees Jones-designed golf course,” smiles Tom Mann, Vice President and Senior Living Specialist for Moorings Park Communities, the area’s premier retirement destinations. “Our Moorings Park Grande Lake homes enjoy gorgeous views overlooking the Rees Jones-designed Naples Grande Golf Club. About 40 of our residents have become members. It’s just so convenient to take your golf cart there from here, and it’s one of the area’s most spectacular golf courses.” A Premier Golf Course For A Premier Community Rees Jones has an outstanding reputation in the golfing community. His golf course designs have earned him numerous awards, including Golf World Architect of the Year, the Golf Course Association’s Don A. Rossi Award, and a place in the Northern California Golf Association’s Hall of Fame. His firm has designed nearly two dozen courses in Florida alone, including Golf Club of the Everglades and Olde Florida Golf Club here in Naples. Moorings Park Grande Lake resident Larry McPherson and his wife, Chuckie, are avid golfers, and have organized groups in the community to take advantage of the Naples Grande convenience. “Rees Jones is a very respected golf course designer,” Larry points out. “This is one of his better courses in this particular area. “When we moved in, I organized a Wednesday golf group of Moorings Park Grande Lake residents,” he says. “We have a mailing list of 24 to 26 people. Every Wednesday morning there’s about 16 of us that play. In addition, other residents have organized Monday and Friday groups.” Chuckie helped start one of the two lady golfer groups. “I ran a group where we lived before,” she explains. “It just felt natural jumping in and doing something similar when we moved here. “The Naples Grande Golf Course is unique in that it has no homes on it, so it has a lot of natural beauty,” she adds. “It’s nestled in Naples, but you wouldn’t know it when you’re on the course.” You Don’t Have To Be A Golfer To Appreciate These Views “As far as I’m concerned, Naples Grande is a beautiful course,” he says. “Our fourth floor views from our residence at Moorings Park Grande Lake overlooking holes 16, 17, and 18 are spectacular.” The golf course sits just across the placid 28-acre Grande Lake from the Life Plan Community. “Every residence has incredible sunset views from their impressive lanais which are perfect for indoor/outdoor entertaining,” notes Mann. “And the views from residents’ kitchens, great rooms, and master bedrooms are absolutely glorious.” Though Moorings Park Grande Lake’s easy access to the picturesque Naples Grande Golf Club will no doubt be particularly appealing to golfers, the community’s unstinting attention to every detail of modern retirement living is appreciated by golfers and non-golfers alike. “You don’t have to play golf to enjoy the rich and rewarding resort lifestyle available to residents here,” Mann points out. “Life here appeals to Baby Boomers with a wide range of interests. “I’m sure we have a few fans of Mark Twain in the book club as well,” he chuckles. A Drive For Excellence The community’s Grande Lake Clubhouse offers over 200,000 square feet of resort-style amenities and residential living, and is unlike any other in North America. The Clubhouse hosts three restaurants which are sure to satisfy the most demanding diner: Zest Café and Bistro; Savor 26, an upscale, yet casual “go-to” with a playful menu; and BlueStone, the fine dining restaurant with an emphasis on prime meats, seafood, and overall cuisine. The Clubhouse also features a top-of-the-line TrackMan Golf Simulator, a fitness center equipped with modern pneumatic machines and personal trainers, and a theatre for movie nights, special performances and guest speakers. The Clubhouse’s airily elegant interior engenders a relaxing atmosphere that’s perfect for friendly get-togethers with your neighbors. “Of course, our community’s amenity-rich lifestyle also includes world-class, personalized health care and concierge physicians,” Mann adds. “The Center for Healthy Living ® located within the Clubhouse is also where you will find the Physicians’ Clinic and Outpatient Therapy services. Our attentive physicians are devoted to keeping you active and independent, with an eye on preventing small health issues from becoming big concerns.” Assisted living and memory care services are  also included in the Life Plan contract at no additional cost should you ever need them in the future. “As one of the nation’s only not-for-profits with A or A+ ratings by S&P and Fitch Ratings services, our residents are comfortable about the future, knowing that we are the most financially secure senior living organization in the country,” Mann explains. An Ideal Spot Publications such as U.S. News and Travel + Leisure have recognized that Naples is one of the best places in the country to live. Ideally located just off Golden Gate Parkway, Moorings Park Grande Lake is in the perfect location to enjoy all that Naples has to offer. Residents enjoy the auspicious adjacency to Naples Grande Golf Club, and are only a few miles from exquisite sugar-white beaches on the Gulf and popular 5th Avenue shops and restaurants. “Moorings Park Grande Lake is truly one of the nation’s best retirement destinations,” Mann says. “There is so much to Moorings Park Grande Lake that it can feel like a lot to absorb,” he adds. “From our gorgeous floor plans, to our partnership with London Bay Homes (which works with residents to customize their new homes exactly how they want them), to our 70% refundable entrance fees, there’s a reason the community has proven so popular. I encourage everyone who wants to learn more to visit us and see this gem of a location for themselves.” Experience A Taste of Luxury At Our Luncheon  Ready to do a little window shopping? Moorings Park Grande Lake will host a delectable Informational Luncheon on Thursday, October 6th at 11:30 a.m, hosted by Mann himself. This event is designed to give you a sneak peek of what the Grande life looks like with a look inside the social hub, the Clubhouse. To register for this delicious event hosted by Moorings Park Grande Lake, please visit MooringsPark.org/Events or call 239-232-3903.

Time, TV Schedule For ACC Atlantic Meeting – Sporting News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/what-channel-is-clemson-vs-nc-state-on-today-time-tv-schedule-for-acc-atlantic-meeting-sporting-news/ No. 5 Clemson’s home game against 10th-ranked NC State is something of a final entry in their series. While the Tigers and Wolfpack doubtless will play again — they’re scheduled to meet in 2023 — the ACC’s decision to go with a 3-5-5 scheduling model in lieu of divisions beginning next season makes this their last meeting as ACC Atlantic foes. Of course, there’s more to this game — and more on the line — than a final victory as divisional opponents. Clemson is aiming to return to the College Football Playoff after missing out in 2021 for the first time since 2014. The Tigers went 10-3 last season, with one of the losses coming to the Wolfpack. The Tigers have the talent to make it back this season, starting with quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. The junior signal-caller overcame a stretch of difficulties last season and early this year to throw 10 touchdowns to one interception this season, including five scores in a 51-45 double-overtime victory over Wake Forest. MORE: Watch Clemson vs. NC State live with fuboTV (free trial) NC State is looking for its first 5-0 start since 2018. It’s also looking to beat Clemson for two years running for the first time since 2002-03. Like Clemson, the Wolfpack’s offense starts with their quarterback: Devin Leary, who has completed 80 of 125 passes (64 percent) for 890 yards and nine touchdowns to two interceptions. It’s setting up for a fascinating quarterback battle and positioning in the ACC Atlantic. Mark Zuckerbergs Metaverse Reflects Our World Today The New Statesman
Mark Zuckerbergs Metaverse Reflects Our World Today The New Statesman
Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse Reflects Our World Today – The New Statesman https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/mark-zuckerbergs-metaverse-reflects-our-world-today-the-new-statesman/ Photo by Facebook In October 2021, Meta Platforms, Inc, released a “trailer”, hosted by the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg, to give a visual tour of its recent expansion into the Metaverse – the immersive, virtual-reality world that is expected to be the next great iteration of our internet technologies. It was a curious piece of work. The trailer began with Zuckerberg standing in a living room with a fireplace, a stunning mountain view, and other conventional signifiers of wealth. The Zuckerberg who first greets us appears to be the real one; he quickly proceeds to summon up a nearly life-size digital avatar of himself, and then runs through a sequence of possible costumes to dress his Meta-self in ahead of a virtual meeting with his Meta colleagues (or, more accurately, is yea-saying underlings). He briefly considers some more outlandish outfits before deciding on one that exactly matches what he, the real Zuckerberg, is already wearing: an unassuming anti-fashion ensemble for which he has long been known for, consisting of a black shirt and black trousers. This comedic set-up reveals something about the mentality behind the dismal aesthetics of the Metaverse as we have seen it so far. After Zuckerberg dresses his avatar, he enters a virtual conference room where he finds his colleagues eager to start discussing business. It is a cute and diverse bunch, for whom the boundary between remunerative labour and freely given conviviality seems non-existent. Most appear in ordinary human form, though one of them has decided to come as a robot – and not just any robot, but a huge round-edged, red cartoonish one. Though mechanical, the robot is in some respects the most lifelike of the gang, reminiscent of any number of non-robotic sidekicks from Obelix to Chewbacca. Soon enough some other colleagues phone in from the streets of Soho, New York City to share the “3D street art” they’ve discovered. Next Zuckerberg’s wife Priscilla appears on a screen, and shows the gang what the family dog has been up to; Zuckerberg asks Priscilla to share this delightful clip with his dad. The world of the street-art hunters and of his wife and dog is – as far as we can tell – just the regular world: the real streets of Soho, a real backyard. The sight we catch of that world simultaneously ruptures all the virtual magic that was meant to enrapture us, and at the same time it reminds us just how far Meta still has to go before it mounts any serious alternative to the phenomenal reality mediated by our sense organs in contact with the ordinary world. At the time it still seemed reasonable to suppose that what we were being shown was only an early rough draft, and that the still-hidden goods around which all the buzz had begun swirling would be delivered soon enough. How puzzling it was then, when in August of this year Zuckerberg, celebrating the opening of Meta’s Metaverse features in France and Spain, released a selfie featuring his avatar standing in front of the Eiffel Tower and the Sagrada Familia church (the distance between the monuments having been eradicated). Reaction on social media was caustic, vicious and hilarious. Zuckerberg’s fauvist-drawn face was described as “unprecedented cringe” and similar to an image you would see in a picture book for babies. One person wrote that the graphics were well-suited to the face of Zuckerberg, which appears bizarrely to have only three or four discernible features. Countless people said the image looked like a game made for Nintendo Wii circa 2002. Content from our partners It was apparently a grave failure and seemed to be a significant step back even from the modest preview we had been offered the previous year. What could have been going on at Meta headquarters? Many people speculated that the company was simply giving up on its Metaverse project, just as Facebook has shed countless features over the years when they had failed to garner the expected interest. I rushed to a more extreme conclusion, and presumed that there was something more devious going on. Perhaps the company had conspired to make its product appear retrograde and ridiculous as part of a more elaborate and multi-phase advertising campaign, keeping the low-information masses away from investing in Metaverse real estate so to allow a privileged group of investors to buy it all up first. These theories, however, slowly gave way to a simpler and less pleasing one. The Metaverse is only as ugly as the average of all of our species’ current unrelenting output of material and digital-cultural artefacts. Whether you approve of it or not, Meta’s vision of the Metaverse is a pretty good representation of what our world looks like today. Some will protest that I am exaggerating; after all, it is precisely Meta’s failure to meet the standards of graphic detail and “realism” which now dominate in CGI-saturated entertainments, such as the Marvel Cinematic Universe , that has provoked the most passionate mockery. And yet our new cinematic realism is anything but. I have heard so-called “photorealism” in painting being referred to as “the neoliberalism of portraiture”. By the same token we may say that CGI-realism is what reality looks like when the only incentive to represent it is profit. The graphics in the Avengers might be “good” – unlike those in Zuckerberg’s most recent bid for our attention – but the operative notion of goodness here is not one that bears any relationship to the usual criteria of evaluation throughout the history of art. This is a “goodness” that does not bring us any closer to discovering truths about the world and our place in it, but seeks to buffer and protect us – at least momentarily – from such discoveries. So at least in this respect, though superhero movies are graphically “good” and Meta’s Metaverse world is graphically “bad”, aesthetically they are both bad in the same way. The principal sources of aesthetically good representational art on the internet today are mostly anonymous meme-creators, and their work is, from a graphics point of view, aggressively and gleefully terrible. They delight in copy and pasting incongruous images into a single composition, with no attention given to proportions or perspective – for example putting a crying Wojak head on Joe Biden’s body, or attaching a muscular yet still somehow canine body to the head of a shiba inu dog. There is a difference between good graphics and good art, and exuberant teenaged meme-makers intuitively understand this, yet it is something that the profit-hungry content industry is, in its very nature, unable to ever grasp. [See also: “Tech must solve a real need”: the iPod inventor Tony Fadell on virtual reality consumerism] When we move down the scale from the extremely online avant-garde with their delirious memes, to the masses of normies, we find significant continuity in attitudes towards graphic precision and elegance. Similar to the vanguard, the masses care little about whether their memes look “good”; what matters most is raw feeling. This feeling is often conveyed through smiling or laughing emojis, or text-and-image jpegs featuring flowers, sunsets and prepackaged Hallmark sentiments. A 2018 Wall Street Journal article reported that “the internet is filling up because In...

The North Face Urban Exploration FW22 Goes GORE-TEX Minimalist – Highsnobiety https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/the-north-face-urban-exploration-fw22-goes-gore-tex-minimalist-highsnobiety/ Who doesn’t love The North Face Japan? Operated by Goldwin separately from the VF Corp-owned American label, TNF JP is a masterclass in minimalist steeze, a perfect example of how to make truly technical clothing look effortlessly cool. We all love The North Face Purple Label and we’re collectively reminded every time it drops a beautiful seasonal lookbook (or a one-off drop). But mainline Japanese North Face stuff ain’t no slouch, plus there are all these cool sub-labels. For instance, look to TNF’s maternity collection, packed with killer wearables mom, dad, and baby alike. 1 / 2 The North Face Urban Exploration is similarly cool in a quiet, refined kinda way. Designed for exactly what the name intends — cool clothes you wear around the city — TNF Urban Exploration is as fascinated by functionality as the other TNF offerings, it’s just that this collection is more interested in metropolitan adventure. You can wear a lot of this out and about in nature, obviously, but the idea here is clothing for the people traveling from coffee shop to restaurant to bar and everywhere in between. However, Urban Exploration usually includes a wider selection than what’s on tap here. For Fall/Winter 2022, you have a men’s jacket, the Gadget Hanger Magne Triclimate Jacket (what a mouthful) and the Bison Chino Pant. The latter is simply a hardwearing work trouser but the former is a three-season layering piece packed with massive pockets and fitted with a removeable GORE-TEX Pro 3L liner that attaches to the shell with magnet closure. Next-level stuff. That’s it for apparel, the rest of Urban Exploration’s FW22 lineup encompasses weather-resistant and waterproof totes, weekenders, luggage, GORE-TEX sock shoes, and a Cordura moccasin shoe that’s the perfect blend of elderly and elevated. It’s all available on GOLDWIN’s Japanese site now. Hard to complain about a concise drop that gets the job done. In fact, perhaps more brands would be better served by tighter, punchier seasonal drops. If they were all this good, who’d complain?

Bankruptcies, layoffs and eye-popping losses have become fixtures of the digital-asset sector. Bankruptcies, layoffs and eye-popping losses have become fixtures of the digital-asset sector over the past few months, as it reels from a $2 trillion drop in its market value.  So as the fallout continues to reverberate, does the industry owe anyone an apology? That’s one of the questions we addressed on the first episode of Crypto IRL, a new Bloomberg Quicktake series. “I do think that certain executives of certain companies that lost millions, tens of millions, billions of dollars of consumers’ funds, they definitely have explaining to do,” Meltem Demirors, chief strategy officer at CoinShares, said on the show. “And I do think they’ll be held to account.” Over the course of eight episodes, Crypto IRL will sort through the rubble to assess what’s left standing and what’s ahead. Demirors says there could still be more pain, as crypto-mining companies struggle to stay afloat with asset prices declining and the cost of energy rising.  “The big part of the ecosystem I’m still concerned about is crypto miners,” she said. Watch Crypto IRL on Fridays at 8 p.m. New York time on Bloomberg Quicktake, and at 8:30 p.m. on Bloomberg TV. And it’s always streaming at www.bloomberg.com/qt.

Explained: 5G Services Launched All Eyes On Cloud Gaming In India Hindustan Times
Explained: 5G Services Launched All Eyes On Cloud Gaming In India Hindustan Times
Explained: 5G Services Launched, All Eyes On Cloud Gaming In India – Hindustan Times https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/explained-5g-services-launched-all-eyes-on-cloud-gaming-in-india-hindustan-times/ Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the much-awaited 5G services in India at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 event in New Delhi. Telecom giant Vodafone Idea (Vi) has declared that it will also unveil and demo its new cloud gaming features at IMC. Announcing about the new service, Vi said that it wants to give a premier experience of 5G Mobile Cloud Gaming to Indian users. For this, it has forged a partnership with CareGame, a Paris-based gaming technology company. What is cloud-based gaming? Any gaming service that enables gamers to access and play video games over a live-streamed link without needing to download the game to their device is referred to as “cloud gaming.” Virtual machines are used by cloud gaming services to host and run games on powerful servers. The user gets the compressed video stream of that gameplay via the internet. The server receives the user’s control inputs, processes them, and then immediately delivers the results back. ALSO READ: Why is Google shutting down cloud-based gaming platform Stadia? What is the need for cloud-based gaming? As the command for the game is processed on another server, the consumer need not have a powerful system at his disposal. System-heavy games can also be played with modest hardware requirements. Now, with development in mobile technology, smartphones have become the most sought device for gaming. As per a report cited by Vi, India currently has a user base of 30 crore mobile gamers. But as the demand grows, the mobile games too are getting more and more sophisticated, demanding more robust phones, more storage, longer downloads and updates. Gladly, the cloud based gaming services can overcome these hurdles.hindustan timesh “Our unique Mobile Cloud Gaming technology lifts all these barriers up so that all mobile gamers can enjoy all these great mobile games, whether being RPG, MOBA, Battle Royale, Strategy, Simulation, FPS, Racing or in any other genre. No download required, no gamepad required,” Benjamin Athuil, Co-founder and President of CareGame explained the features of the service. How will 5G benefit the gaming infrastructure? For cloud-based gaming service to function properly, it needs a fast, stable, and low latency network. As discussed above, the server accepts the user’s control inputs, processes them, and then tries to deliver the result as soon as it can. So, it all comes down to how fast the server can respond to the input without showing considerable lag, as even a slight delay will spoil your tactic game move. This requires a network with a very low time gap between the request and response. 5G here takes a significant edge over its predecessor technologies. It promises very low latency of near 5 milliseconds, while 4G latency ranges from 30 ms to 100 ms. This will facilitate cloud gaming services to run without any delay.
