Study: Women With Healthy Lifestyle Can Reduce Risk Of Developing Type 2 Diabetes DNA India
Study: Women With Healthy Lifestyle Can Reduce Risk Of Developing Type 2 Diabetes – DNA India https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/study-women-with-healthy-lifestyle-can-reduce-risk-of-developing-type-2-diabetes-dna-india/
Researchers found that women who have a history of diabetes during pregnancy can still reduce their risk of developing it by living a healthy lifestyle that includes eating well, quitting smoking, exercising frequently, and not being overweight. The results show that women who adhered to five key lifestyle factors – healthy weight, high-quality diet, regular physical activity, moderate alcohol consumption, and not smoking – had a 90 per cent lower risk of the disorder compared with women who did not adhere to any, even among those who were overweight or obese, or were at greater genetic risk of type 2 diabetes. It’s widely known that a healthy lifestyle is associated with a lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes in generally healthy middle-aged populations. But less is known about whether this also applies to high-risk women with a history of diabetes in pregnancy (gestational diabetes), and if obesity status or genetic risk of type 2 diabetes influence this association. To fill in these research gaps, researchers evaluated the associations of adherence to optimal levels of five modifiable risk factors – healthy body mass index, high-quality diet, regular physical activity, moderate alcohol consumption, and not smoking, with the risk of developing type 2 diabetes among these women at high risk. The researchers also assessed whether these associations changed according to obesity status or underlying genetic susceptibility for type 2 diabetes.

If the 2-0 defeat to Japan saw worries creep across the USMNT fanbase ahead of the 2022 World Cup, then alarm bells are now surely blaring as the United States played to a drab 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia in the final friendly before the World Cup arrives in late November.
Both sides had a few decent chances but the match was hardly a barnburner, with Christian Pulisic unable to inspire an attacking onslaught from the United States. Ricardo Pepi, who has struggled for club form at striker, was handed a start but saw just scraps up front.
At the back, mistakes that plagued the U.S. against Japan cropped up again as starter Aaron Long and substitute Mark McKenzie both struggled on the ball.
Gregg Berhalter has preached calm and trust as the process plays out, but with USMNT supporters having waited eight years for World Cup action and the big dance nearly here, the fanbase grows increasingly worried. Poor results against two teams not expected to exit their respective groups in Qatar are a worrisome way to highlight the September international window.
Now, Wales awaits in the Group B opener for the United States as the players return to the clubs and the coaches get to devising a plan for success at the 2022 World Cup.

FULL-TIME: USA 0-0 Saudi Arabia
A totally uninspiring performance as the World Cup preparation comes to an official close. The United States had very little creativity or attacking spark, and Gio Reyna was injured in the process. It was better than against Japan, but not by much considering the level of competition.
After a loss to Japan and a draw with Saudi Arabia, head coach Gregg Berhalter will face a lot of nervous U.S. fans and media between now and the start of the World Cup.
90+1 min: Tyler Adams gets a yellow card in a final act from the official as the three minutes of added time quickly play out. Saudi Arabia with one last set-piece chance before the time ticks down.
86th min: Off a nothing throw, Jesus Ferreira threads Paul Arriola in on goal, but the FC Dallas winger blasts his shot miles wide. Arriola’s hit looked like a power hitter swinging out of his shoes trying to hit a 500-foot home run.
82nd min: Now it’s Saudi Arabia’s turn to possess the ball in the attacking third, threatening Matt Turner’s penalty area on multiple occasions. The U.S. just look completely flat, with very few chemistry and no answers to find a winner.
75th min: A long spell of good attacking pressure from the U.S. doesn’t result in any solid chances. Arriola, Ferreira, and Pulisic are at the heart of the moves, but nothing comes off.
Malik Tillman and Brenden Aaronson will come off the bench for an appearance, while Weston McKennie and Christian Pulisic are replaced. Interestingly, Aaronson comes into midfield and Tillman goes out wide.
70th min: Chance, Saudi Arabia! A giveaway from Mark McKenzie creates an opportunity for Asiri, but Matt Turner makes a great parried save! The Arsenal goalkeeper was great against Japan, and he’s not yet beaten today, denying the substitute.
— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) September 27, 2022
68th min: More pressure from Saudi Arabia as they bring on fresh legs, but the cross from deep on the right flank doesn’t find a mark.
61st min: Chance, USA! Just moments after coming on, Jesus Ferreira comes close! Paul Arriola sets up the chance, and Ferreira strikes from a central location, but Al-Rubaie makes the simple save down low, with the shot directly at the Saudi Arabia goalkeeper.

57th min: Oh boy. Abdulhamid obliterates DeAndre Yedlin deep on the right flank, late after delivering a cross. Typical from this referee, Abdulhamid gets just a yellow here, but on replay it shows a nasty late tackle, and the FOX rules analyst Dr. Joe Machnik believes the Saudi Arabia man should have been sent off.
— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) September 27, 2022
Yedlin immediately makes way for Joe Scally, limping off the field gingerly. McKenzie replaces Aaron Long, while Jesus Ferreira takes over up front for Pepi. The starting U.S. striker had just 13 touches through an hour of action.
55th min: Paul Arriola generates a turnover deep in the attacking third, but his cross into the area sees nobody there to meet it.
Joe Scally, Jesus Ferreira, and Mark McKenzie look like they’re getting ready to come on.
52nd min: Whatever changes Berhalter hoped to make at the break have not come to fruition. Saudi Arabia have had the lion’s share of possession to start the second half, just like they did to start the match. U.S. on the back foot, looking like they want to be anywhere else.
46th min: We’re back under way in Spain, and there’s some good news as Gregg Berhalter tells FOX sideline reporter Jenny Taft that Reyna’s substitution was “precautionary.” Moments later, U.S. Soccer confirmed that the 19-year-old felt “muscle tightness” so they brought him off.
UPDATE: Gio Reyna was experiencing muscle tightness and came out of the match as a precaution. https://t.co/GET8j1zGc1
— U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team (@USMNT) September 27, 2022
HALFTIME: USA 0-0 Saudi Arabia
A very, very concerning half from the United States. They started on the back foot, and eventually built into the match, but created precious few opportunities. Christian Pulisic is being hacked to pieces by Saudi Arabia, which he should be used to from CONCACAF matches, but the U.S. has not capitalized. The opponents missed a big chance too, which contributes to the feelings of disappointment at the break.
We failed the test against a high pressing team.
The test against a low block isn’t going well either.
Oof
For the record, I remain optimistic. #USMNT
— Michael Parkhurst (@MFparkhurst) September 27, 2022
The injury to Gio Reyna is the talking point of the first half, as he was one of the best U.S. players in the first half. If it’s another muscle injury, he and fans will be severely disappointed given his history.
The U.S. has not scored in 135 minutes of play in this international break, which will also make fans extremely nervous about the fast-approaching World Cup. There could be significant changes from Gregg Berhalter after the break as the head coach looks for some kind of attacking spark.
Josh Sargent, Jesus Ferreira & Joe Scally stay on the field warming up at the half
— Meg Swanick (@Meg_Swanick) September 27, 2022
43rd min: Pulisic is hacked on the edge of the penalty area, but no call, which is a consistent theme of this first half. A replay showed that not only was it a clear foul, but it was probably slightly inside the 18-yard box too. It’s unclear if these friendlies have VAR (the Japan game did have VAR available but the broadcasters didn’t even know it), but that probably should have been a penalty for the United States.
41st min: U.S. holding significant possession but struggling to bring the attackers into the flow of possession. Kellyn Acosta is flagged for offsides, ending the move.
Meanwhile, U.S. Soccer has confirmed that the Reyna substitution was NOT pre-planned, which is obviously not good news for his health.
USSF spokesperson says the Gio Reyna sub was not planned. Not great, obviously.
— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) September 27, 2022
38th min: Tyler Adams and Christian Pulisic have been hacked incessantly in this first half, and the referee has not shown a single yellow card. U.S. players are getting increasingly frustrated.
Saudi Arabia officially aware that they are not going to get yellows for anything. Late tackles on Weston and Christian (multiple times) and ref just asking for calm, basically.
— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) September 27, 2022
34th min: Chance, Saudi Arabia! How did the Middle Eastern side not score??? Somehow, the ball can’t find the back of the net as the substitute Asiri carves through the penalty area. He fires off a shot that’s blocked, and the ball bobbles around, with Turner diving to make a stop and finally Arriola clearing. Complete mayhem, but still scoreless.
— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) September 27, 2022
31th min: An all-too familiar sight for USMNT fans will make them sick just weeks before the World Cup. Gio Reyna is subbed off on the half-hour mark, with Paul Arriola coming on. The timing actually could lend itself to a pre-planned change, but Reyna heads right down the tunnel after coming off, which is a bad sign.
Saudi Arabia makes a substitution as well, as Al-Najei comes off for Asiri Haitham.
— FOX Soccer (@FOXSoccer) September 27, 2022
Gio asked for the sub just before the free kick and he kicked it out of bounds to initiate the change so yeah I don’t think they planned to sub him off after 27 minutes.
— scuffed (@scuffedpod) September 27, 2022
29th min: It’s Saudi Arabia’s turn for a dangerous free-kick, with a set-piece from atop the penalty area maybe five yards outside the box. A long wait for Turner to set the wall, and eventually it’s fired well over the crossbar, not threatening the U.S. goal.
27th min: Babhir chops down Sergino Dest and the U.S. have a dangerous free-kick. Those two were involved in a wrestling match on the touchline moments earlier, and it appeared then that the referee told Babhir no more, but he’s not cautioned for the most recent offense. The free-kick is collected by the Saudi Arabia goalkeeper.
24th min: Chance, USA! Pulisic brings up th...
Color Stars Metaverse Adventure Continues With Promise To Make Smart Phones Defector
Color Star’s Metaverse Adventure Continues With Promise To Make Smart Phones – Defector https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/color-stars-metaverse-adventure-continues-with-promise-to-make-smart-phones-defector/
Color Star Technology Co., Ltd., the Cayman Islands-registered, possibly Dubai-based ready-mix concrete company that scrapped its legacy business and recently launched its own extremely janky digital metaverse, continues to struggle with executive turnover. On Aug. 5, Color Star quietly filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission noting that Biao Lu and Jehan Zeb Khan had resigned simultaneously from their roles as co-CEOs of this strange company, and were replaced by a man named Farhan Qadir. Even by the standards of Color Star, which has now had seven CEOs in just over two years, this is abrupt: Lu and Khan were on the job together for less than two months, and are not stepping back into support roles, but appear to be leaving the company altogether. For the record, this is now the second time that Biao Lu, who also resigned from his role as Chairman of the company’s board of directors, has resigned from the position of Color Star CEO.
Followers of this extremely normal business story will recall that Color Star’s fascinating young CEO, Sir Lucas Capetian, the man who spearheaded the launch of the company’s signature Color World app, resigned suddenly and left the company due to “personal reasons” back in June. At Defector, this was a heartbreaking development: We’d worked diligently over a period of months to establish contact with Capetian, and had received nothing in return beyond a couple terse emails and the threat of a lawsuit. Now, suddenly, Capetian was out of our lives altogether, replaced at the top of this strange company by not one but two new corporate officers. What a time we’d had: It was during Capetian’s eventful stewardship that Color Star entered into the now-infamous sponsorship partnership with the Philadelphia 76ers, and it was Capetian who pivoted from the 76ers deal to a partnership with Villareal of Spain’s La Liga. It was Capetian himself who announced to the world that Color Star had formed a strategic partnership with a super-duper-real biotech company that could eventually give Color World users access to “human cloned organs.” To see this visionary jettisoned from the company he’d led in so many deranged new directions was like watching a beautiful star in the night sky suddenly blink out forever.
Biao Lu and Jehan Zeb Khan did not immediately show their predecessor’s flair for Slick Business. The first news update posted to the company’s extraordinarily busted website (you’ve been warned) after the duo’s June takeover is headlined “Stop wasting time! This is enough~” and features another jarring 30-second video advertisement for the Color World app, with a strange and Cinquain-esque caption:
Immersive visual experience,

star entertainment, technological intelligence, and
experience [color world] without leaving home.
come, on! Hurry up and log in to the app store and

Normal company.
This inauspicious launch portended doom. Six days later, Lu and Khan resigned and were replaced by Qadir. Qadir appears to be a mover and shaker: Just over two weeks after taking the helm, Qadir attended a fancy event in Dubai where Color Star announced a “strategic cooperation” with something called Emirates Travellers. As with other recent Color Star partners, it’s not clear at all what Emirates Travellers sells or does, but it’s worth noting that the Color Star press release says the event was attended by members of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates. Neat! Then again, Color Star once announced that they would put likenesses of active 76ers players in their ugly metaverse, an overstatement that may have provided the 76ers organization the escape hatch they needed to parachute out of this hilariously ill-advised partnership agreement. One must never take at face value anything printed in a Color Star press release or advertorial.
The purpose of the new partnership is unclear, but Color Star says their vaunted in-house tech team is busy building the “world’s first metaverse headquarters” for Emirates Travellers, which presumably will have the same Turok-gas-station aesthetic as the Color World shopping mall, announced back in June:
Credit: Color Star
It’s the mall.
Just days after the glamorous Emirates Travellers announcement, Qadir was back at it, announcing on Sept. 6 a “long-term strategic cooperation” with something called Global Digital Club, which it describes as a “world-renowned professional digital investment club” with a membership of “powerful corporate elites in the global field.” In a startling twist, Global Digital Club has a functioning website and a little bit of an online footprint. In fact, they recently held a private investors event, featuring “business CEOs, venture capital funds, and investors” back on, ah, Sept. 11. Looks fun!
But the biggest development of Color Star’s business was announced Monday, when the company issued a press release describing the upcoming launch of Color Star Technology Co., LTD-branded smart phones. These gizmos will be made in partnership with a company called Anex Korea, which Color Star describes as an “internationally renowned enterprise.” The “‘DONO’ Metaverse mobile phone,” as it is described in the announcement, will come preloaded with the Color World app, so that users can instantly log on and wander around the bleak, empty, bizarrely magenta-soaked digital landscape. “The mobile communication market is our latest new business sector, we are very happy about it, and are confident that we will develop this sector into maturity in the next few years,” says Qadir, via the press release. “While the outside world is focusing on the functions of the Metaverse, we will use mature and perfect technical means to escort users.”
The bet seems to be that sooner or later one of these lurches is bound to pay off. Color Star recently executed something called a “reverse stock split” of shares of its ordinary stock, in order to consolidate the nearly 262 million shares of outstanding stock it’s distributed over the many years and permutations of its business. Reverse stock splits generally produce a bump in stock price, as sets of individual units at a certain market value are converted into one larger unit, maintaining all the consolidated market value. It’s a little artificial, yes, but Color Star’s stock has been trending in the wrong direction for years, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Unfortunately, in Color Star’s case, 40 shares individually worth approximately dog shit are being consolidated into one share of incredibly dense dog shit. This and Color Star’s more ambitious business moves have failed so far to generate enthusiasm among investors: CSCW stock has lost approximately 98 percent of its value over the past five years, and is now trading at a new low of $1.22 per share as of Tuesday afternoon.
But just you wait until those hot Color Star smartphones hit the shelves. As their enthusiastic new CEO says, Color Star “is by no means a traditional technology company, and more we will combine our metaverse content with other businesses, which will find a broader market environment for us, and everything is possible.” That’s the spirit!

James Bonds Stunts And Gadgets Debunked The Science Behind The Secret Agent The Mirror
James Bond’s Stunts And Gadgets Debunked – The Science Behind The Secret Agent – The Mirror https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/james-bonds-stunts-and-gadgets-debunked-the-science-behind-the-secret-agent-the-mirror/
They are known for death-defying stunts and cool gadgets but are Bond blockbusters complete fiction?
A new book by chemist and author Kathryn Harkup takes a closer look at the science behind the work of the world’s favourite secret agent and his villainous opponents.
Here are six facts which left her shaken, not stirred.
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963)
When assassin Red Grant fails to take revenge for the killing of Dr. Julius No (in the first 007 film Dr. No), Colonel Rosa Klebb is instead sent to kill Bond.
She attacks him in his hotel room when he has none of his gadgets, or even his gun, available to help him.
Klebb may be tiny but she is vicious. Bond must fend her off with a chair.

Image:
DAILY MIRROR)
But it’s not enough to keep him out of range of Klebb’s secret weapon, the blade in her shoe.
What the audience knows, and Bond doesn’t, is that the blade will deliver more than a nasty wound; its tip is covered in a venom that can kill in 12 seconds.
The knife part of Klebb’s shoe was certainly based on reality; sharp footwear was developed by the KGB, though they may not have added poison.
But adding a toxin taken from ‘the sex glands of the Japanese globe fish’, as we are told in the Ian Fleming books, isn’t that far-fetched.
The poison from the Japanese globe fish, or puffer fish, is tetrodotoxin, a powerful nerve toxin. The slow swimming, vulnerable puffer fish accumulates and concentrates the poison from the bacteria in its environment to use for its own defence.
The toxin ends up in its skin, and some internal organs, which deters other animals from eating it.
THUNDERBALL (1965)
The radioactive tracking device Sean Connery swallows after being coerced by M16 genius Q was fiction in 1965 – and still is. Radioactive tracers can be used to track down areas of medical interest inside the body.
A radioactive pill in Thunderball (
Image:
DAILY MIRROR)
The dose is low and special detectors have to be placed close to the patient to get a reading.
Swallowing something that can give off enough radioactive energy to be tracked from miles away would do horrendous damage to Bond’s internal organs.
A VIEW TO A KILL (1985)
A View to a Kill sees Bond in Paris, seeking information about Max Zorin, megalomaniac for this particular instalment of the franchise.
Over lunch in a restaurant at the top of the Eiffel Tower, he asks the French detective, Monsieur Aubergine, what he knows.
Roger Moore as 007 in A View To A Kill – 1984 (
Image:
Getty Images)
Aubergine clearly has his suspicions about Zorin’s activities but, before he can elaborate, a butterfly act appears on the stage to entertain the diners.
Paper butterflies flit around the room, but one, a bright yellow and black butterfly, flies around wildly and slams into Aubergine’s cheek. He promptly falls dead in his dinner.
Whatever poison the fake butterfly was carrying, it was fast-acting.
The substance is never identified but, as we learn later, the killer has access to a wide range of chemicals from the lab where Zorin is developing drugs to dope his racehorses and perhaps humans too.
Maybe one of these drugs, given in a sufficiently high dose, could have caused Aubergine’s death. Administering the poison, however, can be more tricky.
A poison-laced barb on a fake butterfly on the end of a fishing rod sounds ridiculous, but it puts a bit of distance between the assassin and their target.
Hiding in the shadows with the other puppeteers makes the killer more difficult to spot and the surprise of the unusual method gives them a bit of extra time to escape.
If you want to get away with murder it can be worth taking the time to form an elaborate and unusual plan, as the real-life case of Georgi Markov shows.
In 1978 Markov, a Bulgarian defector, was working in London as a journalist. On 7 September he took his usual route into work and while standing at a bus stop on Waterloo Bridge he felt a sting in the back of his leg.
He turned to see a man pick up an umbrella, apologise, cross the road and get into a taxi, never to be seen again. Four days later Markov was dead.
An autopsy revealed a tiny pellet embedded in his thigh below the spot where he had felt the sting.
The pellet was tiny, just 1.5mm (0.06in) in diameter and had two holes drilled into it. Where the two holes met, a cavity was formed, which analysts guessed had been filled with ricin.
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE (1967)
You Only Live Twice has supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld living in his magnificently appointed private volcano. The expanse of desk from which he makes his plans for world domination is protected by a piranha-filled pond.
Visitors to this inner sanctum must cross a bridge over the pond, conveniently fitted with a trapdoor. How worried should his Spectre agents be after receiving a summons to his office?
A blade in a shoe during From Russia With Love (
Image:
DAILY MIRROR)
Stories of shoals of piranhas attacking humans and stripping their flesh to the bone in seconds, as claimed in the film, are persistent but wildly exaggerated.
These freshwater omnivorous fish can certainly administer a painful bite – the black piranha (Serrasalmus rhombeus) has the most powerful bite of all bony fish – but they rarely cause death.
Children are more vulnerable to attack as splashing attracts the fish, and their smaller bodies mean piranhas can do comparatively more damage. Hungry and stressed piranhas are also more likely to attack.
Blofeld in You Only Live Twice (
Image:
Moviestore/REX/Shutterstock)
If Blofeld is stressing and starving his fish then Spectre agent Helga Brand may well be in trouble when she falls through the trapdoor.
But, having had a whole adult human to dine on, the fish were probably sated by the time Hans the henchman falls into the waters later in the film.
GOLDFINGER (1964)
The image of villain Goldfinger’s assistant Jill Masterson’s gold body lying on the hotel bed – her boss has her asphyxiated when she falls for Bond’s charms and betrays him – has become ingrained in popular culture and the idea of being killed by skin suffocation has become accepted as fact, even though it is nonsense. It is true that some oxygen is absorbed through the skin, but it is only around 2%. Cutting off such a tiny fraction of the body’s oxygen supply is not going to make a huge difference to a person’s health.
Shirley Eaton is shown in a scene from the 1964 James Bond series film Goldfinger (
Image:

Blocking the pores with paint could prevent sweating, making it difficult for the body to regulate its internal temperature. Masterson’s naked gold body probably got a few people hot under the collar, but what about Masterson herself?
Normal body temperature is around 37°C (98°F), well above normal room temperature, and so our bodies constantly generate heat, some of which is lost to our surroundings.
Someone of Jill Masterson’s petite size is probably radiating around 70 watts (W) of power to keep her warm.
Jill Masterson, is painted from head to toe in gold paint by a painter on the set of the James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’ (
Image:
Popperfoto via Getty Images)
If those 70W were to remain trapped in her body, however, she would heat up very quickly, because it only takes a small increase in body temperature for things to go very wrong.
A fever of 42°C (108°F) can be fatal because cells are programmed to self-destruct at this temperature in case they are infected. The longer the body is kept above this temperature, the more cells will die.
All cells are important but some cells are more important than others. If too many brain cells die so will the person because these cells control vital functions such as breathing and heartbeat. But can a layer of gold paint really make that much difference?
Physicists Tolan and Stolze were curious to find out. They calculated that 42 of Masterson’s 70W would be lost through her sweat evaporating.
Assuming every pore on her body is blocked, the heat retained would result in her death around six hours after she was painted.
Bond and Masterson must have been unconscious for at least that amount of time, because if either of them had woken up and noticed the overheating, a cold shower could have saved her.
Even if the paint didn’t wash off in the water (in the novel it is said a special resin is needed), there are plenty of ways to cool a body until a suitable solvent could be found.
CASINO ROYALE (2006)
Le Chiffre’s identifying feature in the film version of Casino Royale proves useful to Bond. The eye of the fictional banker, who finances the world’s terrorist organisations, weeps blood when he is stressed, so the audience and Bond have a useful visual clue to his state of mind.
Le Chiffre in Casino Royale (
Image:
DAILY MIRROR)
Bond can also use it as a ‘tell’ when he and Le Chiffre are playing against each other in a high-stakes poker match.
Haemolacria is a genuine medical condition that can mean tears are stained with blood. It can be caused by infections, such as conjunctivitis, hormone changes or physical injury.
Le Chiffre appears to have scarring around his eye and damage to the eye itself, suggesting injury. With such an obvious tell, it’s surprising Le Chiffre hasn’t had his haemolacria corrected, which is certainly possible with surgery.

Other Bond villains have been more than willing to go under the knife if it furthers their evil plans.

Robinhood Debuts Web3 Crypto Wallet To 10K Customers Beta Version Supports Polygon Wallets Bitcoin News Bitcoin News
Robinhood Debuts Web3 Crypto Wallet To 10K Customers — Beta Version Supports Polygon – Wallets Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/robinhood-debuts-web3-crypto-wallet-to-10k-customers-beta-version-supports-polygon-wallets-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/
The American financial services company headquartered in Menlo Park, California, Robinhood Markets, Inc., announced the launch of a new non-custodial Web3 crypto wallet on Tuesday and said the product supports the Polygon blockchain network. The application is currently for iOS users only and Robinhood is rolling out the beta version of the Web3 wallet to 10,000 clients on the company’s waitlist.
Robinhood Launches Beta Web3 Crypto Wallet to 10,000 Select Customers
During the last 12 months, Robinhood Markets has shown a strong interest in building cryptocurrency products and services. At the end of January 2022, Robinhood started to roll out the beta version of its crypto wallet that supports bitcoin (BTC), dogecoin (DOGE), and ethereum (ETH). In April, Robinhood expanded the crypto wallet participants to 2 million customers and in mid-May, the financial services company hinted at the non-custodial Web3 wallet release.
The beta version of the Web3 wallet initially will support the Polygon (MATIC) network, a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain that’s compatible with Ethereum. Anything connected to the Polygon network like third-party decentralized finance (defi) protocols and decentralized applications (dapps) will support Robinhood’s Web3 wallet. Robinhood detailed on Tuesday that Polygon was chosen due to its inexpensive network fees, plus “scalability, [and] speed.”
Moreover, Polygon won’t be the Web3 wallet’s exclusive blockchain as Robinhood said that eventually, the Web3 wallet will be a “multichain wallet.” “A wallet worth the wait,” Robinhood said on Tuesday. “Beta testing is now live for 10K customers from the waitlist, with Polygon as the first blockchain supported.” Johann Kerbrat, the chief technology officer of Robinhood Crypto, explained that the Web3 wallet widens new opportunities and accessibility. Kerbrat said:
Like we did with the stock market, Robinhood Wallet strips away some of the complexities of Web3 and defi to make crypto more accessible to everyone.
While the wallet is a Web3 client, the product doesn’t support non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at the moment. However, the Web3 wallet can connect to defi applications, access liquidity pools, and participate in yield farming schemes. While 10,000 Robinhood customers are able to leverage the new Web3 wallet, the financial services company detailed that 1 million customers have registered for the waitlist.
“With this launch, Polygon [and] Robinhood are bringing millions of customers to onchain defi via low gas infrastructure,” Polygon’s official Twitter account said on Tuesday.

U.S. Fines 16 Wall Street Firms $1.1 Billion Over Record-Keeping Failures Reuters
U.S. Fines 16 Wall Street Firms $1.1 Billion Over Record-Keeping Failures – Reuters https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/u-s-fines-16-wall-street-firms-1-1-billion-over-record-keeping-failures-reuters/
Sept 27 (Reuters) – The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday fined 16 financial firms, including Barclays (BARC.L), Bank of America , Citigroup , Credit Suisse (CSGN.S), Goldman Sachs , Morgan Stanley and UBS, a combined $1.1 billion over failing to maintain and preserve electronic communications.
The sweeping industry probe, which was first reported by Reuters last year and had since been disclosed by multiple lenders, is a landmark case for the agency, regulatory experts said.
“The firms admitted the facts…acknowledged that their conduct violated recordkeeping provisions of the federal securities laws… and have begun implementing improvements to their compliance policies and procedures to settle these matters,” the SEC said.

From January 2018 through September 2021, the banks’ employees routinely communicated about business matters using applications such as text messages and WhatsApp on their personal devices, while the institutions did not preserve the majority of these communications, in violation of the rules, the SEC found.
That likely impeded the SEC’s ability to gather evidence in other, unrelated investigations, the agency said.
The failings occurred across all 16 firms and involved employees at multiple levels of authority, including supervisors and senior executives, the SEC said.

Arm Strengthens Board Ahead Of prospective IPO Business Weekly
Arm Strengthens Board Ahead Of ‘prospective IPO’ – Business Weekly https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/arm-strengthens-board-ahead-of-prospective-ipo-business-weekly/
27 September, 2022 – 21:31 By Tony Quested
Arm has unveiled a new CFO and fortified its board ahead of what chief executive Rene Haas calls “a prospective IPO.”
The Cambridge superchip architect seems set on a US float early in 2023 despite media talk of a potential pre-IPO takeover by Korean company Samsung – one of the world’s largest producers of electronic devices.
Arm sources believe talks between the company and £250 billion revenue Samsung are designed to fortify the Cambridge-based business ahead of an IPO through a strategic technology alliance rather than a back channel takeover bid by the Koreans.
If NVIDIA from the US wasn’t allowed to buy Arm for upwards of $40 billion because of anti-competitive concerns then it is hard to see how Samsung would succeed – even if it wished to. And no-one at either business is talking about such a deal being on the cards.
Haas, meanwhile, is reinforcing the troops around him in the assumption that a Wall Street IPO will eventually be confirmed as the way to go for Japanese parent SoftBank whose boss Masayoshi Son is personally leading the strategy parley with Samsung.
Arm has unveiled the appointment of new board members Karen Dykstra, former Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of AOL, and Jeff Sine, co-founder and partner of Raine Group, with immediate effect. Coming from a global merchant bank, as Sine does, is a useful addition pre-IPO as SoftBank aims to raise around $60 bn.
It has also taken on Jason Child as chief financial officer to replace Inder Singh who will remain at Arm in an advisory role and assist in the transition before moving to a new opportunity.
Child has more than 30 years’ experience in leadership at high growth companies and scaling global finance functions. He will join Arm on November 2 and lead the company’s global finance and IT organisations, reporting to Rene Haas.
Haas said: “Jason’s extensive experience in financial management at public companies and IPO execution will be invaluable in preparation for a potential public listing.”
Child most recently served as senior vice-president and CFO at Splunk from 2019. Prior to Splunk, Child held multiple CFO positions including at Groupon, which he helped to take public in 2011, and as CFO at Amazon International.
“Since its founding, Arm has had an incredible history of innovation and leadership in the semi-conductor industry,” said Child. “Arm is a world-class, category leader and I am thrilled to join as CFO during this exciting time for the company.”
Karen Dykstra previously served as chief financial and administrative officer of AOL, a web portal and online service provider.
Jeff Sine is the co-founder and partner of The Raine Group, a global merchant bank focused on technology, media and communications.

How To Plan The Ultimate Alaska Winter Vacation Travel Alaska
How To Plan The Ultimate Alaska Winter Vacation – Travel Alaska https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/how-to-plan-the-ultimate-alaska-winter-vacation-travel-alaska/
There’s something so magical about winter in Alaska – a thick blanket of snow covering the landscape that glitters in the low sunlight, ethereal northern lights dancing overhead, the peaceful silence of snowfall, and the comforting respite of relaxing in front of a warm fire or enjoying a hot drink after a day of outdoor adventures. If you haven’t thought about visiting Alaska in the winter, consider this your invitation. Read on to learn about how to plan the ultimate winter vacation in Alaska.
Activities
While the days are shorter than the endless daylight of summer’s Midnight Sun, there’s no shortage of things to do in Alaska in winter – and you’ll get to experience tours and activities that aren’t available to summer visitors. Outdoor recreationalists will rejoice at the endless options for winter recreation opportunities to get the heart pumping: downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking, and ice skating are enjoyed by visitors and locals alike during Alaska’s winter days. Outfitters throughout the state are available to rent the gear that you’ll need to get out on the trails and they’re more than happy to share recommendations on where to go.
Guided tours are another great way to experience some of Alaska’s cherished winter sports and activities. Climb aboard a dog sled to experience the power of the state’s impressive canine athletes, join a snowmobile tour (called snowmachines by locals) to explore wintery backcountry landscapes, or join a guided ice fishing trip complete with warming huts to keep you cozy. For a unique and relaxing hot and cold experience, consider a jump in the pool – the steamy thermal pools of Chena Hot Springs outside of Fairbanks, that is, or the network of hot and warm pools nestled among the trees at the Alyeska Nordic Spa in Girdwood.

Northern Lights viewing
Visitors from all over the world travel to Alaska to see the spectacular northern lights, also called the aurora borealis. Alaska is one of the best places on earth to witness this otherworldly display of dancing bands of light in green, yellow, red, and purple in the night sky. The northern lights can be seen from August to April, and while they are visible throughout the state, your best chances of seeing them are in Interior and Arctic locations under the Auroral Oval, from communities like Fairbanks, Coldfoot, Wiseman, and Nome.
The DIY crowd can certainly find the lights on their own by keeping an eye on aurora forecasts like the statewide aurora forecast and the Fairbanks aurora tracker. However, for the best chances of seeing the northern lights, join a northern lights viewing tour. Guided tours, primarily offered in the Interior, Southcentral, and Arctic regions, will get you away from ambient city light to some of the top northern lights viewing spots, with some tours specifically focused on northern lights photography. Better yet, stay a couple of nights at unique accommodations that have been specially built for northern lights viewing, like lodges, cabins, and even igloos, for a relaxing way to maximize your aurora viewing. These accommodations can be found away from light pollution and include perks like aurora wake-up calls, floor-to-ceiling windows, heated viewing areas, and outside viewing decks. And remember – if you hear locals say that “the lights are out” – that’s a good thing.

Winter Festivals
Some of Alaska’s top festivals and events can be found in the winter months. Plan your trip around one of these events for a look inside Alaska’s fascinating culture, arts, and history. To view world-class ice sculptures, plan a trip to Fairbanks in mid-February or March to check out the World Ice Art Championships. This event is one of the largest ice art competitions in the world and attracts talented international ice carvers, featuring stunning ice sculptures lit up with colorful lights and an interactive ice playground. Also in Fairbanks in March is the Festival of Native Arts, a celebration of Alaska Native culture through traditional dance performances, music, and arts.
Anchorage’s flagship winter event is Fur Rendezvous, nicknamed “Fur Rondy.” This 12-day February festival celebrates the pioneering spirit of Alaskans and has been running since 1935. Fur Rondy features a wide selection of fun and wacky events including the Rondy Carnival, snow sculptures, the World Championship Sled Dog Race, a zany outhouse race, Running of the Reindeer, and much more.
Immediately after Fur Rondy is the start of the famous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, where mushers and dog teams race nearly 1,000 miles from Willow to Nome. You can catch the ceremonial start of the race in Anchorage the first weekend in March, where thousands of spectators cheer on the teams of canine athletes and mushers from downtown Anchorage and various locations along the route in town. To catch sight of the official start of the race, head north to the town of Willow the next day, and you can cheer on the mushers at the finish line in Nome about a week later.

Planning tips
Winter solstice on December 21 is the shortest day of the year. Fairbanks gets about 3 hours and 45 minutes of daylight, Anchorage gets about 4 ½ hours, and Juneau gets about 6 ½ hours. Some communities in the Arctic region don’t get daylight for over two months in winter. Long, dark nights are ideal for northern lights viewing, and we start gaining daylight every day after winter solstice. If you’re wanting to maximize winter daylight hours, consider planning your trip from February – April.
Pack lots of warm layers, including hats, gloves, insulated boots, snow pants, and a warm jacket. Some winter tours, like snowmobile tours, will provide you with additional cold weather gear to keep you warm out on the trail.
If northern lights viewing is your top priority, give yourself a window of several days to search for the lights or join a tour. Aurora activity and weather conditions fluctuate so be sure to give yourself extra time to maximize your viewing chances.
You’ll find less crowds, lower prices, and more availability for accommodations and activities in winter. However, it’s a good idea to book early to ensure your spot – especially if you are traveling around the holidays or a winter festival.

LG Business Solutions Unveil New Cloud Computing Suite Tech Business News
LG Business Solutions Unveil New Cloud Computing Suite – Tech Business News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/lg-business-solutions-unveil-new-cloud-computing-suite-tech-business-news/
New line-up of LG Cloud Computing products supports work of all levels from anywhere, with seamless endpoint integration designed to enhance collaboration in the workplaces of the future.
LG ‘Business Solutions’ has introduced the company’s full line-up of endpoint Cloud Computing products. Designed to meet the growing demands of Australian businesses and changing needs of individuals.
The fast, cost-effective and secure cloud computing solutions help to streamline and optimise operations across a variety of workplaces, including hybrid and corporate offices, education, government and healthcare facilities.
The LG Cloud Computing line-up includes both Thin Client and Zero Client solutions across hardware including Thin Client “All-In-One” monitors, Box Type Thin & Zero Clients and the LG Gram Thin Client laptops.
Powered by a Quad-core Processor, the LG Thin Client monitors deliver a range of features that support productivity across a variety of business sectors, including the capability to connect to multiple monitors for greater efficiency, and a USB Type-C connection for 4K high-resolution images and fast data transfer.
Meanwhile, LG Zero Client monitors are ideal for high security environments, such as government organisations, as they assists with reducing the risk of data loss or theft by having no local operating system.
In addition, LG Zero Client devices encrypt data for secure and fast transfers, increasing processing time to deliver greater productivity while saving battery life.
The new LG Gram delivers to the mobile user the performance, increased security and cost effectiveness of a desktop, in a portable and fully featured laptop.
Paired with the extensive range of LG monitors and displays, users can enjoy a powerful operating platform, while reaping the benefits of a super light unit with long battery life and a full HD webcam, that supports multiple VDIs.
“The future of connectivity in the workplace depends on secure, reliable, and collaborative technology. As we have seen with businesses migrating to the cloud over the past few years, these considerations are more important than ever before,” said Angelo Koulos, Head of Business Development and Sales for Cloud Solutions at LG Business Solutions Australia.
“LG Cloud Computing devices are designed to create a more efficient1 and immersive working environment for businesses at all levels across a variety of sectors.”
“The broad compatibility of our Cloud Computing devices across cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, virtualisation platforms such as Citrix and VMware and NVIDIA GRID vGPU to name a few”
“Australian businesses will experience seamless endpoint integration, striking a balance between enhanced productivity and collaboration, along with advanced security, at a competitive investment” he added.
Supporting the future of Corporate work
In Australia and New Zealand, 44 percent of CIOs plan to increase funding in cloud platforms this year2, and in turn, this rapid adoption of cloud computing holds other benefits including cost-efficiency, security and reliability.
Addressing the needs of the future of work and as many Australian businesses embrace hybrid working models, the fast-processing speed of LG Cloud Computing solutions supports organisations in connecting employees from various locations to operate at scale.
Furthermore, the LG solutions support the evolving needs of corporate businesses. By replacing the use of desktop computers that have smaller moving parts and freeing up time for administrators, tasks can be simplified with seamless and reliable compatibility across Office applications via Azure WVD or internal VDI systems.
In fact, efficiency goes a long way with the LG Cloud Computing range, where switching from a conventional PC system to a VDI environment can reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for corporate business by up to 51%.3
The LG UltraWide display (34CN650N and 34CN650W) can replace multiple display set ups to help enhance productivity for executive and C-suite staff who need to easily access spreadsheets, budgets and data. This enables users to utilise up to two 4K UHD resolution displays to get more done in less time. The screen can be used to view multiple windows at once, and share screens with colleagues easily.
Ideal for larger teams, the Box Type Thin Client (CL600N and CL600W) supports up the three displays in total, while its compatibility with a range of interfaces such as the USB Type-C allows users to simultaneously transmit data, video and audio at high speeds as well as deliver up to 60W of system charging power to devices with one cable.
Remote Learning made easy
Educational institutions are increasingly shifting to remote learning models to offer greater flexibility to students and engage those in remote areas. As such, there is a growing need for centralised computing to provide fast, reliable and secure access to resources and information through the cloud.
With desktop devices like the LG All-in-One Thin Client range, students, staff and teachers can easily access valuable research tools by logging into a virtual desktop from any available desktop computer.
It also significantly reduces the risk of a data breach through minimal endpoint exposure, ensuring data remains safe in a centralised data centre.
At the same time, educational institutions can cut operating costs by streamlining administrative and technical support. Cloud-supported digital learning environments can help reduce the need for licenses and hardware, allowing students to access up to date information anywhere, anytime.
Securely scale up in Government workplaces
Recent years have proven the importance of having digital services that can cope with peaks in demand, and LG Cloud Computing solutions can support government workplaces in scaling up digital outlets without experiencing service disruptions.
LG Thin Client runs virtual desktops and applications at the data centre, helping reduce the risk of malware, viruses and information leakage establishing a foothold at the endpoint. In turn, this will bolster security and increase resilience towards outages or cybersecurity threats.
In fact, by using LG Thin Client, a government workplace can update an entire fleet of devices from one centralised terminal, eliminating the need to update individual devices consistently while saving costs.”
Bolstering team collaboration, LG Thin Client desktop monitors and mobile devices with in-built IPS display technology allows users to view clear images and content on-screen, including charts and reports, at angles of up to 178-degrees.
The solutions also allow employees to access files and collaborate remotely without compromising security and reducing the need to install a personal desktop and monitor at every desk in the office.
Meanwhile, various interfaces including the latest USB Type C connection enables users to view up to 4K high-resolution images and transmit data quickly.
With no local data storage, LG Zero Client devices can also help reduce the risk of data theft or loss, making it ideal for highly secure government workplaces.
The 24CK550Z with teradici PCoIP® performs HW decoding, helps CPU to enable more tasks and saves battery life, while ensuring that no data will be found once it is unplugged to deliver a high level of security. This is similar to the CBV42-BP desktop device that works with an independent monitor.
Seamless access in Healthcare settings
As proven in recent years, healthcare professionals increasingly rely upon digital platforms to scale up public health services while managing the ongoing risk of security and privacy. As such, the LG Cloud Computing range is effective for healthcare workplaces where centralised data centres ensure fast, reliable access to patient records, cutting down administrative costs without the risk of data breaches.
Devices like the LG 24-inch All-in-One Thin Client for Healthcare (24CN670N and 24CN670W) allow medical professionals to securely log in and access information and resources from a protected data centre.
Additionally, its white colour ensures substances such as dust are easily visible to maintain high levels of cleanliness.
The in-built IPS display can support multiple configurations including tilting, swivelling and pivoting as well as dual-monitor workstations to present clear and vivid images from wide viewing angles for enhanced team collaboration.
With an inbuilt dual-band RFID module, multiple people can use the device as a personalised Thin Client. This is useful for shift work, allowing various staff to log into the personal virtual desktop on a single device.
The RFID module improves security and helps prevent the leakage of sensitive data by facilitating end-user adjustment options such as controlling who is authorised to log into the Thin Client.
It is also approved by medical standards (IEC60601, CE MDD and FDA Class I)4, which ensures its reliability for a medical environment, while its white colour body helps to remove substances such as dust and dirt easily to maintain the highest level of cleanliness5 and promote patient safety.
With less hardware and fewer moving parts, LG Zero Client products offer great reliability in healthcare settings, along with a smaller footprint ideal for environments like operating theatres and hospital rooms, where bulkier devices are not suitable.

Ross: Metaverse Already Has Its Problems, From Monetization To Groping – MyNorthwest https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/ross-metaverse-already-has-its-problems-from-monetization-to-groping-mynorthwest/
Mark Zuckerberg’s 3D Metaverse is moving full speed ahead.
Horizon Worlds, formerly Facebook Horizon, hasn’t done that well yet – a monthly population of only about 300,000 so far – but Meta’s new virtual reality headset will be officially unveiled in a few weeks … and Zuckerberg is also boosting production values.
More from Dave Ross: Physicist says time travel is impossible … but can’t make an absolute promise
One of the critiques of his Metaverse was that the avatars are only torsos – nothing below the belt.
Although maybe that’s a good thing.
There was a report during beta testing last year of a virtual groping incident, and that other characters actually encouraged it – which prompted Meta to add a “personal boundary” feature giving you the option of creating an invisible force field around your avatar.
Already the Metaverse needs social distancing!
Of course, this implies that the Metaverse actually allows groping behavior. How about designing a pervert filter so you don’t get victimized to begin with?
I suppose law-and-order types could adopt law enforcement avatars and investigate these crimes, but seriously – is any of this a good idea?
2D social media isn’t immersive enough, so now we’re going to strap a fat cell phone over our eyes to join a lawless 3D cartoon universe full of legless torsos who are all lying about who they are?
Actually … that might make a pretty cool Halloween party.
Except, we have to remember: This ultimately means hundreds of millions of our friends and co-workers will be strapping on these headsets.
And I’m sorry, but flailing around and talking to yourself with a Phone stuck to your head doesn’t make you look like you’re experiencing the future. It makes you look like a candidate for involuntary commitment.
I’m not against escapism — for people who are unable to navigate the real world.
I’m not against immersion – getting immersed in my CSPAN app is what makes the elliptical bearable.
But committing yourself to an artificial world and providing all that free eye-movement data so that Meta can hypnotize you into buying stuff?
I saw The Matrix — the original. I remember how difficult and painful it was to get out. So why would anyone voluntarily want in?

The Roomba J7 Learns To Mop With A Dramatic Swing-Arm Setup Ars Technica
The Roomba J7+ Learns To Mop With A Dramatic Swing-Arm Setup – Ars Technica https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/the-roomba-j7-learns-to-mop-with-a-dramatic-swing-arm-setup-ars-technica/
How soon until this breaks? —
iRobot’s wild mop design can move from the top of the robot to the bottom.
Ron Amadeo – Sep 27, 2022 5:07 pm UTC
The Roombo Combo j7+. Sick spoiler, bro! Wait, that’s a mop?!
Roomba
The spoiler thing is a mop. The side flaps open and little arms swing it into the bottom of the robot.
iRobot
Here’s the bottom of the old j7 (not a mop) versus the new j7 (a mop). That mop pad is the bottom of the spoiler. iRobot really turned the j7+ into a mop with almost no other changes to the layout.
iRobot
The base station has no interaction with the mop; it just sucks out dust into a larger bin.
iRobot
The mop spoiler from the back.
iRobot
The mop can also be closed, which makes this Roomba look a lot more like a normal Roomba.
iRobot
iRobot—soon to be owned by Amazon—is announcing a flagship Roomba with a new feature: It can vacuum and mop simultaneously. Meet the Roomba Combo j7+, a $1,100 combo cleaning robot that ships on October 4.
iRobot is not doing a ground-up redesign of the j7+ series to add mop functionality. In fact, the update almost looks like a retrofit. The new j7 looks just like the old j7 with a camera in the front, a big dust bin in the back, and a bottom layout that is almost identical to the old bot. There’s a new dust bin and… is that a rear spoiler?
The mop functionality lives on the top (yes, the top) of the j7+, which has a big rear cutout now. The top of this cutout is plastic, and the bottom is the wet mop pad, which is connected to the robot by two side arms. When it’s time to do some mopping, a dramatic, Transformers-like transition occurs. Two flaps on the side of the Roomba open up, revealing that the top mop cutout is actually connected to the robot by a pair of swing arms. The cutout section on top of the robot is lifted up and swings down and under the robot in a big, 180-degree motion. Now you’re dragging a wet mop pad across the floor with minimal changes to the layout of the j7+.
It doesn’t sound like the j7+ will provide iRobot’s top-of-the-line mopping experience, which will still belong to the purpose-built Braava Jet M6. iRobot’s dedicated mop bot beats the j7+ because about 50 percent of the Braava’s body is a water tank, and it has a front water sprayer. The j7+ has a redesigned dust bin that is now a dust and water combo tank. The dust area is smaller to make way for a 210ml water tank. That means way less dust capacity, but that doesn’t really matter since the Roomba will just visit the base station to get cleaned out anytime the bin is full.
The mop raising in action. When it’s time to go over a carpet, the mop swings up to the top of the robot, so it will never get your carpet wet.
iRobot
The state of the art in combo cleaning robots is probably the $1,400 Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra or $1,550 Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, both of which have a dust bin and water tank in the robot, along with a giant base station that empties the robot of dust, fills it with fresh water, and then washes the mop and stores the wastewater in a separate tank. iRobot has a long way to go to catch up to that.
The swing-arm setup looks cool, but you have to wonder about its longevity. These robots take a lot of abuse by bumping into everything and constantly dealing with dust—it’s just the nature of the job. That large motion requires a ton of small moving parts and tiny pivot points. Something like a Roborock, by contrast, just has a mop permanently affixed to the bottom of the robot, and the mop setup is on a variable-height suspension, so it can be lifted up slightly to avoid touching carpet. That works for thinner carpets, but if you have a serious pile going on, the robot can sink down too far and get your carpet wet. iRobot says the swing arm setup is designed to avoid that.
iRobot’s press release throws some shade at the competition, saying, “Other 2-in-1 mops lift only a few millimeters—if at all—and, as a result, can leave wet messes on many carpets or rugs. The Roomba Combo j7+ is the only 2-in-1 with a mop that lifts itself to the top of the robot, completely away from carpet and rugs. Two fully retracting, durable, metal mop arms raise the mop pad when the robot senses carpet and rugs, preventing unwanted wet messes.”
The new combo bot is up for preorder now.

Numerous NFT projects have tried to get their share of the pie, but only a few have been successful. We discovered 5 NFT crypto platforms that blossomed in 2022.
5 Successful NFT Platforms
Let’s take a closer look at each project and find out how they benefited investors.
1. Tamadoge
Tamadoge has differentiated itself from Dogecoin and Shiba Inu by developing a utility token and a play to earn platform. Players groom digital pets to receive TAMA tokens as rewards for their contributions.
Investors realized the platform’s value and sold out its crypto presale in less than two months. Now, TAMA is trading on OKX.

2. Battle Infinity
Battle Infinity is an NFT-based fantasy game enabling players to access 6 platforms. Players battle it out against other teams to earn IBAT tokens in the IBAT Premier League, Battle Arena, Battle Stake and Battle Games.
The platform also enables players to stake coins and receive rewards for being highly active. Battle Infinity’s presale sold out within 25 days of the scheduled 90 days. When IBAT began trading on PancakeSwap in August 2022, the coin surged 700% from its presale price.

U.S. Core Capital Goods Orders Surge; Consumer Confidence Rises Further Reuters
U.S. Core Capital Goods Orders Surge; Consumer Confidence Rises Further – Reuters https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/u-s-core-capital-goods-orders-surge-consumer-confidence-rises-further-reuters/
Core capital goods orders increase 1.3% in August
Core capital goods shipments rise 0.3%
Consumer confidence index increases to 108.0 in September
House price growth decelerates in July
WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) – New orders for U.S.-manufactured capital goods increased more than expected in August, suggesting that businesses remained keen to invest in equipment despite higher interest rates, which could keep the economy on a moderate growth path.
Some of the largest gain in orders in seven months reported by the Commerce Department on Tuesday, however, reflected higher prices. The data suggested that business spending on equipment probably rebounded in the third quarter, further dispelling fears that the economy was in recession.
That was reinforced by a survey showing consumer confidence rising for a second straight month in September, supported by a resilient labor market, which continues to churn out jobs at a brisk clip and generate strong wage gains, as well as falling gasoline prices. More consumers planned to buy big-ticket items like motor vehicles and household appliances over the next six months, which should help to underpin consumer spending.

“It is hard to know whether companies are ordering up more widgets to produce the goods and provide the services for a stronger economy in the future or whether the jump in spending reflects the higher prices from inflation that remains out of control,” said Christopher Rupkey, chief economist at FWDBONDS in New York. “The economy may be more resilient than we think.”
Orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft, a closely watched proxy for business spending plans, surged 1.3% last month. That was the biggest gain since January. Data for July was revised higher to show these so-called core capital goods orders gaining 0.7% instead of 0.3% as previously reported. The data is not adjusted for inflation.
Core capital goods
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast core capital goods orders rising 0.2%. There were increases in orders for machinery, primary metals, computers and electronic products as well as electrical equipment, appliances and components. But orders for fabricated metal products fell.
Core capital goods shipments rose 0.3% after climbing 0.6% in July. Core capital goods shipments are used to calculate equipment spending in the gross domestic product measurement.
Business spending on equipment contracted by the most in two years in the second quarter. That together with a sharp slowdown in the pace of inventory accumulation resulted in GDP contracting at a 0.6% annualized rate last quarter after declining at a 1.6% pace in the January-March period.
But the economy was not in recession in the first half, with the income side of the growth ledger showing moderate expansion. Goldman Sachs is forecasting GDP rebounding at a 1.2% rate in the third quarter.
The economy is hanging on despite the aggressive monetary policy tightening by the Federal Reserve to fight inflation.
The U.S. central bank last week raised its policy interest rate by 75 basis points, its third straight increase of that size. It signaled more large increases to come this year.
Stocks on Wall Streets were trading lower after a brutal beating over the last six sessions. The dollar was steady against a basket of currencies. Longer-dated U.S. Treasury prices fell.
TIGHT LABOR MARKET
A second report from the Conference Board on Tuesday showed its consumer confidence index rose to 108.0 this month from 103.6 in August, beating economists’ expectations for a reading of 104.5. Households’ worries about inflation eased, largely reflecting lower gasoline prices.
Consumer confidence
Consumers’ 12-month inflation expectations slipped to 6.8%, the lowest since January, from 7.0% in August.
The survey’s so-called labor market differential, derived from data on respondents’ views on whether jobs are plentiful or hard to get, rose to 38 from a reading of 36 in August. This measure correlates to the unemployment rate from the Labor Department and points to a still-tight jobs market.
“The labor market differential suggests that joblessness fell in September, contrary to the Fed’s goal of creating slack in the labor market to bring down wage growth,” said Bernard Yaros, an economist at Moody’s Analytics in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
There were increases in the share of consumers planning to buy motor vehicles and appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and vacuum cleaners over the next six months. But consumers were less inclined to buy a house as soaring mortgage rates and still-high home prices eroded affordability.
While a third report from the Commerce Department showed new home sales surged 28.8% to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 685,000 units in August, that was likely due to builders offering incentives to clear inventory.
New home sales
With the 30-year fixed mortgage rate now at levels last seen during the Great Recession, the rebound in new home sales is likely temporary.
There was, however, some good news for prospective buyers, who have been priced out of the market.
A fourth report on Tuesday showed the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller national home price index increased 15.8% year-on-year in July, slowing from an 18.1% advance in June. On a monthly basis, prices fell 0.3% in July, the first drop since late 2018.
The cooling house price inflation was corroborated by a fifth report from the Federal Housing Finance Agency showing home prices increased 13.9% in the 12 months through July after rising 16.3% in June. Prices fell 0.6% on a monthly basis.
An outright house price collapse, however, is unlikely as housing remains in short supply.
“Rapid home price deceleration was anticipated given the Fed’s actions and will bring home price growth closer in line with income growth,” said Selma Hepp, deputy chief economist at CoreLogic. “Returning to a long-term average of 4% to 5% annual price growth is closer than initially anticipated, potentially by early 2023.”

Unravel Biosciences Licenses Wyss Institute Platform Technology From Harvard And Tufts … – The Bakersfield Californian https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/unravel-biosciences-licenses-wyss-institute-platform-technology-from-harvard-and-tufts-the-bakersfield-californian/
Boston, MA, Sept. 27, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, Unravel Biosciences and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University announced that Unravel has licensed a drug discovery platform technology from Harvard and Tufts University. The company will use the technology, invented at the Wyss Institute, to decode and model complex diseases to accelerate the development of new and more effective therapies.
Harvard’s Office of Technology Development is providing an exclusive, worldwide license to Unravel for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of certain neurodevelopmental disorders using new and existing drugs developed with the platform.
The company is validating the technology by developing an effective therapy for Rett syndrome, a rare genetic disease that mostly affects girls and causes progressive loss of motor and language skills, seizures, and intellectual disabilities. By combining predictive algorithms, a high-throughput tadpole-based screening system, and an iterative discovery process, Unravel is taking a patient-centric approach to identify drugs that can restore health, first in Rett syndrome and later in other cognitive and behavioral disorders.
“Unravel’s approach flips the traditional drug development process on its head. For the past 50 years, most pharmaceutical companies have started by identifying a molecular target of interest and then developed drugs to disrupt that target. But 90% of the drugs created via this process don’t work in patients. In contrast, we start with an individual patient and ask, ‘What is different about this patient that’s causing this disease?’ We computationally predict which existing drugs could restore health in that patient, validate those drugs in our engineered animal models and focused clinical trials, and from there identify the underlying molecular targets that could be drugged to treat the disease across patient populations,” said Richard Novak, Ph.D., a former Lead Staff Engineer at the Wyss Institute who is now CEO and co-founder of Unravel.
From DARPA project to Validation Project
The roots of the platform technology licensed by Unravel stretch back to 2015, when Novak and other members of the Wyss Institute led by Founding Director Don Ingber, M.D., Ph.D. started working on a DARPA-funded research project to identify drugs that could induce human tolerance to sepsis and other forms of infection. To figure out whether their candidate drugs might have any unexpected side effects on the brain, the team developed a cognitive assay and behavioral screening system using Xenopus laevis frog tadpoles in collaboration with Wyss Associate Faculty member Mike Levin, Ph.D.
“Xenopus embryos are an amazingly tractable and powerful system for exploring the ‘full stack’ of biology: from genes, to physiology, to anatomy, to behavior. The whole brain and nervous system forms in front of your eyes in a week! I was really excited about collaborating to use automated assays in this exquisite little animal to impact human medicine,” said Levin, who is also the Vannevar Bush Chair of the Department of Biology and Director of the Allen Discovery Center at Tufts University.
The scientists quickly realized that their system, called CogniXense, could be used to evaluate the effects of a wide range of drugs on the cognitive and behavioral systems of a whole organism. This would allow them to identify drugs that can restore complex mental abilities that are often impaired in neurological diseases, a metric that is important to patients but difficult to measure in standard preclinical models.
A team was formed to develop CogniXense for that purpose. Shortly thereafter, the system highly impressed a visitor to the Wyss Institute, who had a daughter with a rare genetic disease that was classified as a form of Rett syndrome. This condition, which causes debilitating physical and mental problems in the ~10,000 patients who are born with it every year, has no cure or treatment.
Ingber suggested to Novak that CogniXense could be used to identify drugs to treat Rett syndrome, and the team got to work building a Xenopus model of the disease. In their first test, they found that their model replicated behavioral differences observed between healthy patients and those with Rett syndrome. They also identified several drugs that reversed the tadpoles’ symptoms. Based on this potential, the team was awarded Validation Project funding from the Wyss Institute in 2018 and 2019 to further de-risk and develop CogniXense into a high-throughput and automated drug discovery platform.
CogniXense consists of three main parts. The first is NeMoCAD, a computational algorithm that analyzes the transcriptome network features of existing drugs to predict which ones are most likely to reverse the features of a given disease. Second, Xenopus tadpoles are genetically modified using CRISPR to replicate the genetic signature of the disease and the resulting spectrum of behavioral and cognitive features in as little as three weeks. Finally, the modified tadpoles are placed into a screening instrument called the TadPool, which allows real-time non-invasive analysis of more than 1,000 swimming tadpoles simultaneously.
The TadPool evaluates each tadpole’s decision-making skills, ability to learn, swimming patterns, and circadian rhythms to produce a multidimensional picture of their behavior. Comparing these behaviors with and without a given drug indicates whether the drug effectively reverses the features of the disease. Drug screening results then feed back into NeMoCAD in an iterative process to identify drug targets that underlie successful treatment, which can be used to develop even more effective new drugs.
Components of the CogniXense platform are being further developed at the Wyss Institute, and are being used in its Biostasis and CircaVent projects.
Treat the patient, treat the disease
Based on CogniXense’s success in the lab, Unravel was launched to commercialize the technology. The company has customized it to create their proprietary BioNAV platform, which incorporates transcriptome and proteome data from patients.
“By using real patient data, we ensure that our predictive algorithms actually identify drugs that can treat a disease in a person who suffers from it. When we repeat this process for multiple patients across the spectrum of neurologic diseases and look at that combined information, we can pinpoint drugs that will work for certain groups of patients regardless of their formal clinical diagnosis or genetic mutations. So, we’re applying a personalized medicine approach across conditions that were previously considered independent of each other to identify effective treatments for the more than 15,000 patients who suffer from rare diseases,” said Frederic Vigneault, Ph.D., a former Senior Staff Scientist at the Wyss Institute who is now the CSO and co-founder of Unravel. “And, if no existing drugs can effectively treat a particular population, we use our platform to design new ones.”
In July 2022, Unravel announced a partnership with TMA Precision Health (TMA) to leverage TMA’s database of patients with rare diseases in regions across the globe that have historically been underrepresented in medical research. The companies are aiming to use this patient access to bring Unravel’s first drug candidate, a proprietary oral liquid formulation for the treatment of Rett Syndrome, to clinical trials by the end of 2022.
Unravel plans to pursue multiple rare disorders in parallel, building on the rapid clinical translation of their Rett syndrome program. The company is partnering with academic and industry groups to use patient transcriptome data to redefine how rare diseases are treated and enable effective therapies to reach patients in need more quickly.
“You hear a lot about how artificial intelligence is going to impact drug discovery, but examples of success are few and far between. I am extremely proud of this team for their ability to collaborate across disciplines and to develop this powerful first-of-its-kind drug discovery platform that combines computation with experimentation in an iterative way that is absolutely critical for clinical success, as well as their determination to spin it out into a company as quickly as possible to maximize its impact. Unravel is a perfect example of how pursuit of academic innovation with an entrepreneurial mindset can lead to development of disruptive technologies that can change the world for the better,” said Ingber, [BL1] who is also the Judah Folkman Professor of Vascular Biology at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital, and the Hansjörg Wyss Professor of Bioinspired Engineering at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

A man was suffered multiple wounds Monday when he was attacked with a machete and robbed of his bicycle at a homeless camp in Hazel Dell, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported about 5:45 p.m. behind a business in the 800 block of Northeast Minnehaha Street. Multiple witnesses reported an altercation between two men in a homeless encampment during which one of the men began striking the other with a machete, according to a sheriff’s office statement.
The statement said the attacker in the case rode away on a bicycle before deputies arrived to find Ronnie Anderson, 40, of Vancouver suffering from multiple injuries. He was transported to a hospital with what was later determined to be minor tissue wounds, the statement said.
Deputies later located and arrested a suspect in the attack, 41-year-old Frank Rios of Vancouver, according to the statement, which said at the time of his arrest, he still had the machete and a bicycle he had allegedly stolen from Anderson.
The statement said that the assault occurred after Rios observed Anderson with his girlfriend.
Rios was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery, according to the statement. It said deputies worked with witnesses to be able to return the stolen property to the victim. With the assistance of witnesses, deputies recovered the stolen property and were able to return these items to the victim in this case.

Attorney General Todd Rokita warns Hoosiers to avoid scams this fall. This is a popular time to travel, move, and undertake home improvement projects, but it’s also it’s a time for scammers to find new victims.
“When planning out your fall vacations and projects, remember anyone can be the target of a scam,” Attorney General Rokita said. “Often, when a deal seems too good to be true, it is. This applies to your fall getaways and home improvement projects. Hoosiers can protect themselves by asking the right questions and doing their research before making any big plans.”
To prevent the headache of being scammed by a contractor, the Office of the Indiana Attorney General and the Indiana Builders Association offer the following tips to avoid falling victim to a home repair scam:
Ask your family, friends, and co-workers for contractors they have used who have done good work.
Before signing a contract or making a payment, contact the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and the Better Business Bureau for complaint information on contractors you are considering.
Get multiple bids from local contractors. Avoid contractors who spontaneously show up at your door offering a “bargain” price for painting, driveway sealing, roof repairs, etc.
Never pay for the entire project before the work begins.
Don’t make the final payment to the contractor until you know all suppliers of materials and all subcontractors have been paid.
While this time of year is full of beautiful Indiana foliage, it is also a time for vacation scams. Hoosiers can avoid common travel scams by following these simple tips:
Be extra cautious when booking through an unfamiliar company. Check the Better Business Bureau ratings and research the name online to see if there are any allegations of scams.
Read the fine print in the contract before you sign it. It will tell you about the conditions under which the operator can change or cancel the trip and the rules and penalties for cancellation.
Pay by credit card. It gives you more protection than cash or checks.
Use good judgment when sharing about your trip on social media. Consider changing your online privacy settings while on your trip.
Lock your valuables, including personal information, in your trunk or a hotel safe.
If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, file a complaint at www.indianaconsumer.com with Attorney General Rokita’s office.

The partnership agreement was signed by Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Health Regulation Sector, MoHAP, and Tamer El Sallab, Head of Gulf & Levant Cluster, Viatris, during a panel discussion titled “Best practices to address the challenges of noncommunicable [DH1] diseases in the country and the region”, organised in cooperation with Viatris, a Global Healthcare Company, at the Museum of the Future.
Commenting on the MoU, Al Amiri said that the collaboration with Viatris will not only fuel the ministry’s ongoing efforts to fight non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes but will also contribute to achieving our strategic goals of promoting healthy lifestyles in the UAE, reducing associated diseases and improving the results of national health indicators.
Stressing the importance of expanding public-private partnerships in the fight against NCDs, Al Amiri stated, “The private sector is fundamental component of our health sector in terms of the investment of public sector in health and health care, the potential within the private sector to finance healthcare. It plays a significant role in achieving the universal health coverage for everyone leaving no one behind, building capacities and establishing accessible and resilient healthcare system, while also promoting innovation to find solutions for today’s and tomorrow challenges. The MoU that we signed today with Viatris will certainly help us bring about these goals, which will eventually reflect on improving people’s quality of life and promoting healthy lifestyles and mental health. ”
For his part, Ayman Mokhtar, Viatris Regional President for the Middle East, Turkey & Levant Region, reaffirmed Viatris’ steadfast commitment to be UAE’s partner of choice for developing sustainable and innovative solutions that help achieve better health outcomes for people living with NCDs.
The panel discussion discussed the challenges of NCDs in the UAE and the region, as well as the UAE’s ongoing efforts to confront and control NCDs and ways to promote healthy lifestyles. The gathering also outlined the initiatives launched by concerned health authorities to ensure community members lead healthy lives by implementing best practices and supporting the development of an efficient and sustainable healthcare system.
The workshop, which aligns with the ministry’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the implementation of the National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, was attended by Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Public Health Sector; Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Health Regulation Sector, MoHAP; and Dr. Aisha Al Mehairi, Director of MoHAP’s Quality of Life and Sustainable Development department. Also present were Dr. Buthaina Bin Belaila, Head of Non-communicable Disease Department at MoHAP; Dr. Amin Muhammad Al Shami, Quality of Life and Sustainable Development Consultant, Ayman Mokhtar; and Tamer El Sallab, Head of Gulf & Levant Cluster, Viatris.
In his opening speech, Dr. Al Rand said, “Ensuring a healthy life for every individual, family, and community in the UAE is our top priority and fundamental element in our governmental framework. Therefore, our aspiration is to achieve the optimum of our people’s health, social, economic, and ecological wellbeing, in line with the UAE vision 2021 and Centennial plan 2071, which aim to make the UAE the best and happiest country in the world.”
“The UAE has been one of the early countries to dedicate a national strategy for happiness and wellbeing. In 2016, the UAE deployed the national program for happiness and wellbeing, while in 2019 the UAE government launched the national wellbeing strategy 2031. Moreover, the UAE leadership and government spare no effort to support, endorse and spread wellbeing. During the 75th WHA held in Geneva last May, the UAE led a resolution, which has been approved, calling upon the director general to develop a framework and action plan on achieving well-being, and encourage governments to create inclusive, equitable, and healthy communities,” Al Rand added.
The Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector went on to say, “In line with the Suitable Development Goal number 3, our national priorities for health and wellbeing are fostering the means of public health and healthcare to address our ambitious targets to control NCDs and to promote good mental wellbeing. Establishing an accessible and resilient world-class healthcare system is on our national agenda as a primary objective and enabler against current and future health-related threats. And COVID-19 was the best example that has proven the robustness and accessibility of our health system.”

Hurricane Ian: Buccaneers Moving Practice To Miami; NFL Monitoring Week 4 Game Vs. Chiefs In Tampa – CBS Sports https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/hurricane-ian-buccaneers-moving-practice-to-miami-nfl-monitoring-week-4-game-vs-chiefs-in-tampa-cbs-sports/
National Hurricane Center
A matchup between two contenders who recently met in the Super Bowl is scheduled to take place Sunday night, as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to visit Tampa to face Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. However, Hurricane Ian has changed how the teams are preparing for the important showdown, and may even reschedule the game altogether.
Hours after the National Hurricane Center upgraded Ian to a Category 2 storm on Monday, the Buccaneers finalized plans to evacuate Tampa on Tuesday and spend the rest of the week practicing at the Dolphins’ training facility in Miami, according to CBS Sports Lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones. Since the Dolphins play the Bengals on the road this Thursday, their stadium and fields were available for use.
In the meantime, the NFL is continuing to monitor storm developments to determine whether the Buccaneers’ Sunday night matchup with the Chiefs can proceed as scheduled in Tampa.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles previously said Monday that the team is working with the NFL to make contingency plans in case they are forced to move Sunday’s game.
“Right now, we’re still monitoring things but we’re working things out with the league and we should have a decision hopefully later on today about what we’re going to do,” Bowles said, via Rick Stroud.
Hurricane Ian is quickly approaching Cuba, and is expected to rapidly strengthen into a major hurricane as it moves into the eastern part of the Gulf of Mexico, per the Weather Channel. As of now, the projections show the hurricane making its largest impact/landfall in Tampa on Wednesday through Thursday.

Walmart Land will focus on fashion and entertainment, while Universe of Play brings the retail giant’s best-performing brands in the toy aisle to virtual life.
Retail giant Walmart is looking to disrupt the metaverse with two new Roblox worlds.
The first of these experiences, Universe of Play (pictured), highlights some of the best-performing brands in the retailer’s toy aisle. It rolled out on Roblox today with five interactive games based on PAW Patrol, Jurassic World, Magic Mixies plush, L.O.L. Surprise! dolls and Razor Scooters.
Meanwhile, Walmart Land focuses on fashion and beauty, allowing users to customize their avatars with virtual merchandise from makeup brands such as Lottie London, Bubble and Halsey af94. This virtual world will also feature an island that hosts Netflix trivia shows run by Stranger Things actor Noah Schnapp, and digital music festivals featuring performances from popular talents including American pop singer Madison Beer and English punk artist YUNGBLUD.
“We’re showing up in a big way–creating community, content, entertainment and games through the launch of Walmart Land and Walmart’s Universe of Play,” said William White, the US retailer’s chief marketing officer for the US, in a release. “Roblox is one of the fastest-growing and largest platforms in the metaverse, and we know our customers are spending loads of time there.”
Prodcos and toycos alike have been making a major push lately to get their properties featured on Roblox and engage with the platform’s 52 million daily users. These companies include Mattel, which is launching Barbie into the metaverse later this month; and Japan’s SEGA, which partnered with Roblox developer Gamefam to release Sonic Speed Simulator in March.
But can they compete with Walmart in the space? In its 2022 annual report, the retailer generated US$572.8 billion, up by US$14 billion from the same period last year. Of that revenue, US$73 billion hailed from its ecommerce business, and Roblox opens up a new revenue stream for the company in digital merchandise.

How many of us have purchased a 6-pack of our favorite soda in those aluminum cans? You all know that they often came in those plastic rings. We were encouraged to cut those rings before disposing of them in the trash. They looked like this:

loading…
We were told to cut them because the dangers of plastic rings have long been a topic of concern among conservationists and marine biologists. When these rings find their way into the ocean, they can endanger birds, mammals, turtles, and other marine life, due to their ability to get stuck around animals’ noses, mouths, and bodies. It’s estimated that plastic products kill around 100,000 marine animals a year.
Well a Philadelphia based packaging company has a new packaging solution. I hope that this idea will get adapted by more packaging companies throughout the country. For now only New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania will have this.
Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages, a local plant which bottles Coca-Cola products ranging from Diet Coke and Sprite to Powerade and Monster Energy, will replace its plastic rings with a fiber-based paper packaging. This will make it much easier to recycle, and hopefully other companies will take on this idea to reduce plastic waste. Liberty estimates that its new policy will help eliminate 75,000 pounds of plastic each year. You can read a bit more about this HERE.
If this doesn’t come to Missouri, I do hope that people will take a minute to cut up the plastic rings that their soda may come in before discarding it. It is the least we could do.

2. Look for Early Crypto Presales – Maximize Returns by Investing Prior to CEX Listings
One of the best ways to profit in the cryptocurrency space is to get in early on a hyped project. Typically, price is driven primarily by demand. As such, investing in a project before it becomes widely known and mainstream is one of the top tips for crypto.
This is where the best crypto presales come into the picture. By carefully researching upcoming or early-stage presales, an investor can determine which projects have ample utility and are likely to explode.
A few things that are important to look out for when working out which crypto presales are likely to perform well and increase in value once on the open market include utility, a doxed team, and community.
A couple of projects meeting all three requirements are:
Tamadoge (TAMA) – Listed on OKX and the OKX DEX, Tamadoge is a play-to-earn (P2E) meme coin that provides users a way to earn crypto by playing a fun and engaging Tamagotchi-style crypto game.
Battle Infinity (IBAT) – A P2E DeFi ecosystem featuring an NFT marketplace, a fantasy sports league, a staking platform, a collection of P2E games, a Metaverse arena, and even a decentralized exchange (DEX)
The only drawback to investing in crypto presales is that actually finding them can be rather time-consuming. However, this burden can be lessened easily.
Linking to our previous crypto trading tip, joining a crypto group like the Jacob Bury Discord or the B2C Telegram can make it easy to find new presales as well as the best crypto ICOs. Both groups spoke about TAMA and IBAT well before they announced exchange listings and with the team’s behind each contently researching, the next big presale could be announced at any time.

To summarize, investing in crypto presales is a great way to get early exposure to assets with huge room for growth. Two of the best crypto presale projects right now are Tamadoge and Battle Infinity and both of which were first reported about by either the B2C Crypto Calls and News Telegram or the Jacob Crypto Bury Discord server.

3. Join a Crypto Signals Group – Save Time and Get Great Trade Setups
While joining a crypto Discord server or Telegram channel is an excellent way to learn about cryptocurrency and find exciting new projects, joining a dedicated crypto signals group like CryptoSignals.org is perhaps the best way one can improve their skills as a trader.
The best crypto signals groups often yield impressive returns for users as they tend to be created by or contain extremely knowledgeable traders that constantly monitor the charts for potential setups. As not everyone has the time required to watch charts all day, these groups offer a simple way to get access to top setups without dealing with the boring stuff.
The CryptoSignals platform provides roughly 2-3 carefully curated signals every single day, meaning that there will always be ample opportunity to profit from the group. Furthermore, with an 82% success ratio, the group has already provided its users with a plethora of actionable trades that yielded some great returns.
Overall, while not everyone is able to dedicate the time to watch a multitude of charts in order to find interesting setups, joining a crypto signals group can prove immediate access to the best trades without requiring lengthy research. As such, these groups are perfect for those learning or trading alongside a full or part-time job.

4. Try Copy Trading – Automatically Mirror the Trades of Other Users to Trade Automatically
Copy trading is sometimes referred to as social trading and involves mirroring the traders of another user in order to earn a profit. Typically, a copy trading platform will allow users to automatically copy the trades another user executes will customizing factors like trade size. This concept has been a huge hit, with global brokers like eToro implementing it directly into their platforms.
One of the best crypto trade tips out there is to use copy trading to your advantage. Over the past few years, copy trading has risen in prevalence massively as an increasing number of people have been looking toward methods for streaming the trading experience.
Out of all the copy trading platforms on the market, eToro is perhaps the best. The broker allows users to search for traders and view their win rate on trades. This gives the user far more control over their trades while incentivizing those registered as copy traders to only engage in solid trades to avoid negatively impacting their ratings.
While copy trading does, of course, help users to earn a profit from crypto with minimal effort, that’s not all. People learning to trade can use copy trading platforms to learn which strategies work without spending large sums testing . This is a huge help for new traders to anyone simply attempting to minimize risk. Therefore, it’s worth trying copy trading to see how it works.

WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) – Conservative group Pacific Legal Foundation filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday against the U.S. Department of Education with the intent of stopping President Joe Biden’s student loan cancellation plan.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the South District of Indiana, comes a day after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) said that Biden’s plan to cancel some student loan debt will cost $400 billion.
“Congress did not authorize the executive branch to unilaterally cancel student debt,” said Caleb Kruckenberg, an attorney at Pacific Legal Foundation. “It’s flagrantly illegal for the executive branch to create a $500 billion program by press release, and without statutory authority or even the basic notice and comment procedure for new regulations.”

Biden said in August the U.S. government will forgive $10,000 in student loans for millions of debt-saddled former college students, keeping a pledge he made in the 2020 campaign for the White House.
Critics of the plan raised concerns over its inflationary impact while the White House said the plan was fiscally justified because the federal deficit was on track for a $1.7 trillion reduction for fiscal 2022 compared with the prior year. The smaller deficit is largely due to the end of many COVID-19 aid programs and unexpectedly higher revenues.
The Education Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
As of June 30, 43 million borrowers held $1.6 trillion in federal student loans. About $430 billion of that debt will be canceled, the CBO estimated. The CBO previously projected that some of the funds canceled by Biden’s action would eventually have been forgiven anyway.
Reuters reported in August that nongovernment budget analysts projected the program’s total 10-year cost at $500 billion to $600 billion, including extending a repayment pause on all federal student loans through Dec. 31 and reducing future payments based on income.
“It (Biden’s plan) will only lead to more calls for government intervention in education at taxpayers’ expense,” said Steve Simpson, another attorney at Pacific Legal Foundation.

Chipotle Mexican Grill Invests In More AI Technology Nations Restaurant News
Chipotle Mexican Grill Invests In More AI Technology – Nation’s Restaurant News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/chipotle-mexican-grill-invests-in-more-ai-technology-nations-restaurant-news/
Chipotle Mexican Grill announced Tuesday it would be piloting advanced technologies to streamline operations and reduce friction.
In select Southern California stores of the Newport Beach, Calif.-based fast-casual restaurant brand, Chipotle is piloting a cook-to-needs kitchen management system that provides demand-based cooking and ingredient preparation forecasts to optimize throughput and freshness while minimizing food waste. Leveraging AI and machine learning, the system monitors ingredient levels in real-time and notifies the crew on how much to prep and cook, and when to start cooking, while automatically populating real-time production planning for each restaurant.
“The new kitchen management system has alleviated manual tasks for our crew and given restaurant managers the tools they need to make informed in-the-moment decisions, ultimately enabling them to focus on an exceptional culinary and an outstanding guest experience,” said Curt Garner, Chipotle chief technology officer, in a statement.
The technology, called PreciTaste, is currently being tested at eight restaurants in Orange County, Calif., and early results indicate that the technology is streamlining operations, the company said.
The second technology being tested by the fast-casual leader utilizes Radius Networks’ technology platform, Flybuy, and works to enhance the chain’s app functionality.
For guests who opt-in, the program can engage with Chipotle app users upon restaurant arrival. It utilizes real-time data to enhance consumers’ experience with order readiness messaging, wrong pick-up location detection, reminders to scan the Chipotle Rewards QR code at checkout, and more.
“Empowering our restaurants with advanced technologies is critical for operational excellence and better positions our teams for our ambitious growth plans,” Scott Boatwright, Chipotle chief restaurant officer, said in a statement.
This program is currently being tested in 73 locations in the Cleveland market, and early results show the technology is working, according to the company.
In other Chipotle technology news, Chippy, the AI robot that creates tortilla chips that Chipotle introduced earlier this year at its Chipotle Cultivate Center, has moved to in-store locations. Chippy will start cooking chips for guests next month in a Fountain Valley, Calif., location while the brand leverages its stage-gate process to listen, test and learn from crew and guest feedback before deciding on a national implementation strategy.
Chipotle has over 3,000 restaurants nationally.
A Conspiracy-Fueled Push To Count Ballots By Hand Gains Traction Nevada Current
A Conspiracy-Fueled Push To Count Ballots By Hand Gains Traction – Nevada Current https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/a-conspiracy-fueled-push-to-count-ballots-by-hand-gains-traction-nevada-current/
Nye County has positioned itself as the epicenter of a Donald Trump-fueled conspiracy about the security of electronic vote tabulators.
The Nye County Commission voted in March to make the county one of the first to act on the false narrative that machines that count votes are rigged, and recommended long-time elections clerk Sandra Merlina switch to hand-counting paper ballots.
Merlino, who retired in August months before her term was slated to end after working 20 years in the elections office, warned commissioners at the time that hand-counts were prone to “a lot of error.”
Newly appointed County Clerk Mark Kampf, who has falsely claimed that Trump won the 2020 election, plans to incorporate a hand-counting method. He told commissioners in September that volunteer voters there will hand count the roughly 30,000 ballots expected in the November election.
Across the country, Republicans aligned with Trump have directed ire at electronic voting machines, with Republicans in at least six states introducing legislation this year to ban the use of ballot tabulators (Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, New Hampshire, Washington and West Virginia). Over 90 percent of U.S. election jurisdictions currently use electronic tabulators, with only the smallest counties opting to count votes by hand.
Many of the conspiracies around voting machines after the 2020 election centered on technology from Dominion Voting Systems. Lawyers for Trump claimed with no basis that Dominion employees worked with outside groups, liberal donor George Soros, and Venezuela to steal the presidential contest from Trump. Dominion has filed several defamation lawsuits against those who peddled the conspiracies.
Voting experts say that using hand counting as the default method to count ballots, which requires that all voters cast paper ballots, is incredibly expensive, burdensome, and time-consuming.
“This is totally unnecessary,” said Jonathan Diaz, senior legal counsel with the Campaign Legal Center. “There is no evidence or reason to suggest that ballot tabulators don’t work.”
In fact, research shows that vote tabulators are more accurate than hand counts, which allow for a vast amount of human error, especially when the people counting ballots are overworked and tired around an election.
Tabulators are typically certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and jurisdictions almost always test them before an election to ensure their functionality and accuracy. Jurisdictions often hand count smaller groups of ballots after a tabulator is used to verify the accuracy of results.
Tabulators also allow for accessibility features to assist voters with disabilities who cannot hand mark a paper ballot.
The Bipartisan Policy Center, a think tank that uses ideas from both parties, recommends pairing machine tabulators with an audit of paper ballots. “This balance minimizes the potential for human error during vote counting while maintaining a strong system of manual error-checking to unearth discrepancies that may arise during tabulation,” they write in an explainer.
Diaz said he suspects that those pushing for hand counting aren’t actually concerned with the security of tabulators.
“I don’t think that the push for hand counting paper ballots is really motivated by concerns about accuracy or technology,” he said. “I think it’s actually just an attempt to slow down the process and inject more confusion and make things more difficult for election workers.”
‘Severely disruptive’
To hand count all of its ballots, Nye County plans to have teams of three people look at batches of 50 ballots. Kampf said he has already enlisted 57 volunteers to help with the process.
Kampf did not respond to a request for an interview.
While Nye County will hand count its ballots this year, it’ll also tabulate its votes with electronic machines. Officials have said the goal is to eliminate the use of machines for future elections, but using both methods this year allows the county to avoid new state regulations for counties that only conduct hand counts.
In late August, Nevada’s secretary of state’s office announced temporary regulations to take effect Oct. 1 for the general election, including a requirement for bipartisan counters. Nevada law doesn’t outlaw hand counting and the office wanted to be prepared if more counties decide to switch.
The proposed language for the regulation originally featured stronger restrictions but was amended after getting feedback from Kampf.
Voting experts said hand counting shouldn’t be permitted, and therefore does not need to be regulated. In testimony submitted to Mark Wlaschin, deputy secretary for elections, the Campaign Legal Center explained why hand counting ballots would help neither accuracy nor speed.
“A hand counting requirement would not only delay the reporting of results, but would also be severely disruptive to county officials’ ability to fulfill their critical responsibility to conduct the election securely and accurately,” attorney Julie Hochsztein wrote.
The Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada filed a lawsuit against the state after the regulations were announced, alleging that they deprive Nevadans of their rights to a uniform, statewide standard for counting votes. The group declined to comment on the pending litigation.
“The temporary regulation threatens to unleash electoral chaos,” the complaint says, noting that “votes cast in different counties, different precincts, or different contests may be counted very differently.”
Current Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske is term-limited. Jim Marchant, an election denier who is the Republican nominee to replace her, has been one of the most vocal forces behind the state’s push to institute hand counting. He has said that if elected, he would ditch electronic vote machines.
Democrat Cisco Aguilar, who is facing Marchant in November, has singled out Marchant’s role in Nye County as reason for worry about the future of elections in Nevada if Marchant wins.
“What Jim Marchant is doing in Nye County is irresponsible and dangerous,” Aguilar said during a campaign event in August. “He’s not a serious leader, but the threat he represents is very serious.”
Esmeralda County in Nevada has also switched to hand counting, but the county is the least populous in the state with just 1,030 residents in 2020, according to U.S. Census data. Still, it took the county more than seven hours in the June primary to count 317 ballots.
At that rate, it would have taken Clark County, Nevada’s most populous county, 6,375 hours, or more than 265 days, to hand count the 288,683 ballots cast in its June primary. Larger counties could no doubt devote more staff, volunteers, and resources to counting, but the process would undoubtedly require the county to miss the vote certification deadline.
The longer the public has to wait for election results, the more time candidates have to sow distrust in the results and for false theories and information to spread.
Outside Nevada
In Arizona, Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem, both of whom have said that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, filed a lawsuit with unfounded allegations about the security of electronic vote tabulators and seeking the hand counting of ballots.
They claimed that the lawsuit wasn’t aimed at invalidating the 2020 election results—Cyber Ninjas, which conducted an audit of the vote in Maricopa County, conducted a hand count and found that Joe Biden actually won by more votes than the official margin—but instead about future elections.
In response to the lawsuit, election administrators testified that hand counting would be extremely expensive and require immense manpower. They also said that electronic voting machines aren’t connected to the internet, and can’t be hacked. A judge dismissed the suit in August, and Lake and Finchem have appealed that ruling.
If Lake and Finchem win in November, they’ll be in a position to change how the state counts its ballots. Arizona law does not require the use of electronic vote counting machines. The secretary of state also has the power to decertify machines, so Finchem could do that and refuse to certify new ones.
In New Hampshire, groups opposed to electronic tabulators figured out a way to force election officials in large counties to hand count some ballots in Sept. 13’s primary, despite the widespread use of AccuVote optical scan machines in the state which are not connected to the internet and cannot be hacked.
Conservative-leaning groups shared posts online urging voters to write in candidate names, even if the candidate was already printed on the ballot. Ballots with write-in candidates are separated for hand counting.
Secretary of State David Scanlan said the effort slowed down the release of results by hours in some counties.
“It really stresses the system when you have poll workers who have been at it for 12 to 16 hours now having to count all these ballots at the end of the night,” Scanlan told a local reporter with the Keene Sentinel. “It probably increases the chances for errors.”

BUDVA, Montenegro, Sept 27 (Reuters) – When Alexander and his wife Svetlana arrived for a two-week vacation in Montenegro, they planned to return home to Russia.
But President Vladimir Putin’s announcement last week ordering a mobilisation of reservists for the war in Ukraine has thrown their lives into disarray.
Speaking to Reuters in Montenegro’s Adriatic town of Budva, Alexander, 30, a horticulturist, said he had no plans to go back and risk being drafted to go and fight.

“This is not our war. We are attacking our neighbours, brothers, we are trying to occupy territories that are not ours,” he said. “I definitely will not fight for that, let alone die for it.”
Both Alexander and his wife declined to give their full names.
Russian officials have said 300,000 troops are needed for the mobilisation, called as Russia’s seven-month campaing in Ukraine has stalled. Priority will be given to people with recent military experience and vital skills.
But reports have appeared of men with no military experience, or past draft age, receiving call-up papers, fueling outrage and anti-war protests.

Tens of thousands of people, many of them males, have choked border crossings between Russia and neighbouring ex-Soviet republics such as Georgia, Kazakhstan or Tajikistan. Others hastily purchased overpriced air tickets to Western European countries, Montenegro, Turkey or Israel.
“I am afraid many more will leave unless they (Russian authorities) finally shut borders. I am afraid we will have no friends left in Russia,” Alexander said.
Russia officially counts millions of former conscripts as reservists – most of the male population of fighting age.
Maxim, 48, a physician, was also vacationing in Montenegro when he heard about mobilisation at home. He decided not to return to Moscow.
“Many of my colleagues have received call-up papers. Some are even older than I am, and not as healthy for fighting,” he said.
Svetlana said she will travel to Russia to bring their year-and-a-half daughter and sell whatever property they have before they can try to start a new life in Montenegro.
“We are not afraid of work. We will try,” she said.
