Thyroid Cancer Awareness: Ask Your Physician To Check Your Neck – NDTV Doctor https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/thyroid-cancer-awareness-ask-your-physician-to-check-your-neck-ndtv-doctor/ Home »  Living Healthy »  Thyroid Cancer Awareness: Ask Your Physician To Check Your Neck Thyroid Cancer: The four main types of thyroid cancer are papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, and anaplastic thyroid cancer.   By: DoctorNDTV  Updated: Sep 27, 2022 10:22 IST 3-Min Read Thyroid Cancer: Periodic check-ups with a doctor can help identify it at early stages Neetu, a young professional, noticed a small lump on the right side of her neck while getting ready for the office. It was a small, firm, and painless growth. She had no other complaints. Her family physician referred her for an ultrasound of the neck and a few blood investigations. Ultrasound showed growth in the thyroid gland. A needle examination was performed on the growth which revealed that she has developed thyroid cancer. This resulted in anxious moments for Neetu as well as her family members. She underwent thyroid surgery followed by radioactive iodine treatment. 10 years later, she is leading a normal life. The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck which weighs around 20 grams. The thyroid gland produces important hormones which control heart rate, metabolism, body temperature, and amount of calcium in the blood. The thyroid gland is made up of two main varieties of cells i.e. follicular cells and para-follicular cells (C cells). Follicular cells secrete thyroxine hormone whereas para-follicular cells secrete calcitonin. What is thyroid cancer? Different types of thyroid cancers Thyroid cancer is cancer developing from the cells in the thyroid gland. Various risk factors for thyroid cancer are exposure to radiation and a family history of thyroid issues. Thyroid cancer affects people of all ages, from young children to the elderly. Thyroid cancer is diagnosed considerably more commonly in women than in men. The four main types of thyroid cancer are papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Papillary thyroid cancer is the most common type of thyroid cancer, accounting for roughly 85 percent of all thyroid cancers. The cure rates for this type of thyroid cancer are high, especially if diagnosed early. Follicular thyroid cancer comprises approximately 10 percent of thyroid cancers which begins in follicular cells and usually grows slowly. This type of cancer is also highly treatable if diagnosed early enough. Medullary thyroid cancer develops from the para-follicular cells (C cells). Nearly everyone with a specific gene mutation develops this rare malignancy. An uncommon and aggressive form of thyroid cancer called anaplastic thyroid carcinoma typically affects those over 60. This type of cancer is challenging to cure and spreads quickly. Increasing incidence of thyroid cancer in India and worldwide The incidence of thyroid cancer is increasing worldwide. As per the data from National Cancer Registry Programme(NCRP) India, the incidence rate of thyroid cancer has shown an increase of 62% and 48% respectively among women and men respectively. The increase in incidence is attributed to rising awareness among the people and the availability of diagnostic modalities leading to early diagnosis.  Warning signs and symptoms Most thyroid cancers present in the form of a small lump/nodule in the neck which is usually firm to hard and generally painless. Some patients may develop hoarseness of voice/difficulty in breathing. No significant weight gain or weight loss is usually noted. A simple neck examination by a medical professional can detect a thyroid nodule. However, 90% of the thyroid nodules are benign and not cancerous. The next investigations ordered are ultrasound of the neck (USG Neck), thyroid function tests (TFTs) followed by needle aspiration i.e. FNAC if required. In some cases, MRI may be ordered for further evaluation. Although a cancer diagnosis of any kind can be scary, the most common forms of thyroid cancer have a very high long-term survival rate (over 90%), especially when diagnosed early. Treatment of thyroid cancers Most thyroid cancers are treated in 2 steps (a) surgery followed by (b) radioactive iodine (Iodine-131) therapy. (a) Surgery Most common surgery performed is total thyroidectomy which means the removal of the entire thyroid gland. Additionally, suspicious lymph nodes of the neck are removed during the surgery. The initial surgery is the most important part of the treatment. (b) Radioactive iodine (iodine-131) therapy Radioactive iodine or iodine-131 is a radioactive medicine that is given to eliminate (ablate) any remaining thyroid cancer cells that could not be removed during surgery. Radioactive iodine therapy significantly reduces the chances of disease recurrence. This treatment is very well tolerated and does not have major long-term side effects. Applications Of Metaverse In Virtual Gaming – Appinventiv https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/applications-of-metaverse-in-virtual-gaming-appinventiv/ The debut of the gaming metaverse powered by VR technology is creating massive hype in the gaming industry and has become the talk of the town among gamers. According to recent studies, more than 52% of the gamers in the US believe that the Metaverse can revolutionize the gaming industry.  As per the latest industry reports, the global metaverse market is expected to reach $1,527.55 billion by 2029 from $100.27 billion in 2022, at a CAGR of 47.6%. This growth contributes to a surge in the adoption of online video gaming based on AR/VR trends and technologies.  VR-incorporated gaming platforms create an illusion for a realistic experience using 3D images, VR headsets, full display screens, and rooms with sensory features of scents and tactile sensations. The platforms have reinvented the gaming industry paradigm and helped it gain major traction among gamers because of a highly impeccable and fascinating virtual experience. It is fascinating to see how Metaverse gaming is revolutionizing the cyberspace of gaming into an interactive and engaging 3D platform by offering immersive environments. If Metaverse gaming interests you, this article explains everything about the gaming metaverse and its implications on the virtual gaming industry, so that you understand how to create metaverse games for your business. How about we start by taking an overview of the gaming ecosystem before Metaverse? Virtual Gaming Before and After Metaverse Initially, first generation games were less interactive and allowed less control from the payer. Further, the second generation games allowed playing virtual games with and without financial commitment leading to better engagement.  Post this, the virtual gaming world was majorly based on blockchain-powered games involved with significant multiplayer games. However, blockchain later changed the gaming paradigm by using NFTs and cryptocurrencies. Currently, Metaverse-based virtual ecosystems are the latest evolution in the gaming industry, leading gamers to experience next-level environments. Metaverse in the gaming industry can either be centralized or decentralized, although gaming companies focus more on decentralized projects since the future is decrypted.  This has also ushered a new gaming reality called Web 3.0 gaming that allows players to move characters from one gaming experience to another. This model is also popularly known as the “play-to-earn” model in the virtual gaming platform.  Now, how does this Metaverse affect virtual gaming? Let’s take a look: How Metaverse Impacts the Virtual Gaming Platform? According to a study by Ernst & Young, 97% of executives believe that the gaming industry is central to the development of the metaverse, and 48% of the executives state that the Metaverse would change business models for virtual gaming businesses and drive revenue while also giving brands new opportunities to build relationships with their customers. How do you use the metaverse in gaming?  Metaverse is a virtual world that connects global customers with a shared digital platform to interact and socialize. Businesses looking to invest in Metaverse for gaming, leverage modern technologies, including 3D reconstruction, Augmented Reality, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain, to develop powerful and future versions of the Metaverse gaming apps. The Metaverse has the potential to fascinate users by offering them an impression and environment that they are truly in the real world they have entered. It provides them with a 3D environment or space where they interact closely with the elements around them.  Along with this, Metaverse also delivers an immersive and out-of-the-world experience where users can study, connect, work, earn money, and even attend meetings and concerts virtually with NFT trading, and live game streaming. Metaverse gaming is a vast ecosystem gaining traction for bringing the vision of realistic experiences to life. The applications of Metaverse redefine the future of online interactions, content ownership, and even real trading.  One example of the 3D virtual game platform Cens World launched as the ‘Future Metaverse Open-World Game of the Century,’ facilitates players to craft their own stories and give their characters personalities. This is a real-time example of delivering inevitable gaming experiences leveraged by modern technologies. Now, what options do players get in Metaverse gaming?  Key Characteristics of Metaverse Virtual Gaming  Metaverse gaming can transform various aspects of activities in a virtual environment. Mirroring life, Metaverse does not require any special gadgets such as headspace and has the potential to touch far more verticals in gaming than AR and VR.  Here are key characteristics and aspects touched by Metaverse use cases in gaming: Social gaming The Metaverse is inherently social, providing players with a socialistic environment where they can build relationships with the elements around them. Multi-player gaming will take on an additional dimension as players can invite friends from the real world, interact with other players, build relationships, etc. Play to earn  It is one of the crucial elements of gaming in the Metaverse. Players can also engage in profitable activities besides following linear storytelling and rules. They can also involve trading activities like selling the assets they have won inside the game to other players for metaverse based crypto gaming. Flexible gaming experience It provides a much more flexible immersive gaming experience. You can easily add players to the virtual world, create their content, build sub-games within a game, and treat the gaming environment as a platform-like space for other activities. Portable game assets  The interoperable architecture of the Metaverse could allow for asset portability. Weapons or avatar enhancements acquired in one game could be portable to a different environment, and NFT rules would govern persistent ownership. Mixed reality experience  The Metaverse leverages AR and MR to provide a more organic experience. Gaming in the Metaverse could incorporate mixed reality, where users move from group text in AR to an MR board game to a full-fledged Metaverse Virtual Reality world in a seamless workflow. What other technologies drive virtual metaverse gaming platforms? 4 Modern Technologies that Empower the Gaming Metaverse The gaming Metaverse has been leveraging modern technologies and has urged gaming companies to shift their interest toward Metaverse games. They strive to deliver an impeccable and best-in-class gaming experience. Metaverse game developers use next-gen technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, and IoT. Let’s dive into the top emerging technologies required to develop a gaming Metaverse: AR and VR Technology The AR and VR technology offer inevitable and exciting 3D experiences empowering Metaverse development. AR has the potential to transform the real world and creates an amazing virtual gaming world using visual elements and characters. It facilitates smartphones and digital devices to let customers enjoy impeccable gaming experience. Blockchain and Metaverse cryptocurrency Blockchain technology facilitates businesses to develop decentralized Metaverse projects. It enables companies with enormous benefits, including digital proof of ownership, transfer of value, digital collectability, and interoperability. Metaverse based Cryptocurrencies permit users to transfer value in the 3D Metaverse. Internet of things (IoT) While leveraging the power of IoT solutions, Metaverse can collect, obtain and utilize massive data from the real world. The applications of IoT connect the virtual world of the Metaverse to real-world digital devices so that objects can easily switch in the changing environments. 3D reconstruction Implementing 3D applications is a traditional practice, but 3d reconstruction is a modern trend that has gained traction during the pandemic. Most real estate companies adopted this technology to take their potential buyers on a virtual property tour. Metaverse technology has been using 3D reconstructing to complement other technologies already existing in the Metaverse. Challenges Yet to be Addressed in the Gaming Metaverse Challenges are not always vulnerable to security threats but also bring enormous opportunities. Several challenges need to be addressed before reaching their full potential. The gaming Metaverse is a digital space where massive data is uploaded and is highly vulnerable to hacking and cybercrimes.  Check out some major challenges gaming companies often face while developing mind-blowing games. Data security As gamers put more and more personal information into the Metaverse to personalize their unique experiences, gaming companies will be held responsible for protecting their massive data from cyber criminals. According to an EY report, gamers who want to visit exciting locations in the Metaverse will not stay long if they feel their data or safety is at risk.  In contrast, gamers will return to platforms and products offered by companies they feel are transparent, safe, and trustworthy. This suggests cybersecurity is essential to a customized gamer experience and brand loyalty. Unsure of how to incorporate NFTs into gaming NFTs in gaming can include digital assets that players can own in their virtual universe and have the potential to be a building block of the Metaverse economy.  According to the EY US report, gaming executives believe that increased usage of NFTs boosts customer satisfaction, grows margins, and improves the visibility of products and services. Despite these benefits, 90% of executives said their companies currently do not have a viable business model to capture value from ...

Promptly called the Live Activities, it will also appear on the Lock Screen once iOS 16.1 is live. This function aims to bring live scores from selected sports onto the Dynamic Island, as well as other activities. If you’re watching a live sports game on the Apple TV, the Live Activities will display the scores seamlessly on your iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Thanks for the tip!! Got this working for Premier League scores as well! pic.twitter.com/csscCo1wA3 — Jorge González Medina (@jaquia) September 17, 2022 That being said, those who don’t own the pro variants can still check out the scores on the Lock Screen. It is also reported that a Live Activities widget will also make its debut on iOS 16.1. Sports that will be included in Live Activities are Major League Baseball (MLB), the NBA and Premier League. The NBA and Premier League are definitely two popular sports for Malaysians but they will only launch in the US and Canada for now. Hopefully, it will be expanded globally. As for the MLB in Live Activities, it will be launching in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. It would be cool for Live Activities to feature eSports too. With over $25 billion raised globally by crypto startups in 2021 and just under $10 billion raised in the first half of 2022 despite less than perfect market conditions, the interest of investors in the crypto space is not abating anytime soon. As blockchain continues redefining the boundaries of what is possible and carving out new ways of creating and transferring value between humans, it is important that everyone is carried along and that no one is left behind. However, despite the unmistakable interest and opportunities in the blockchain space, the funding space is riddled with problems. From one end, only projects that can raise considerable seed capital or have connections get the exposure and traction to be listed on major IEO platforms. This translates to hundreds if not thousands of legitimate projects with enterprising founders that never see the light of day. For the projects that scale through the initial hurdles of listing on expensive IEO platforms, every day small crypto investors are almost always excluded from an equal opportunity to invest, skewing opportunities in favor of big-time and institutional investors or crypto whales.  RaisedX: Our Solution RaisedX is a public token sale-only platform built with a simple idea; to give every small and medium crypto enthusiasts an equal opportunity to invest in legitimate and promising blockchain projects at their early stages. U.S. Women Break Team Record With 27th Straight FIBA World Cup Win – ESPN https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/u-s-women-break-team-record-with-27th-straight-fiba-world-cup-win-espn/ 2:02 AM ET Associated Press SYDNEY — There’s been a long legacy of success for the U.S. women’s basketball team at the World Cup. The names change over time, but the results don’t seem to. Kelsey Plum scored 20 points, Chelsea Gray added 16 and the United States routed Bosnia and Herzegovina 121-59 on Tuesday to break the team record for consecutive wins at the World Cup. The victory was the 27th in a row in World Cup play for the Americans, who haven’t lost since the 2006 semifinals against Russia. The U.S. won 26 in a row from 1994-2006 leading up to that game. The Soviet Union holds the World Cup record with 56 straight wins from 1959-86. “It’s kind of amazing,” said Breanna Stewart, who has been part of the last three World Cup teams. “Obviously, been here for some of it, but you understand the legends before that who really kind of started the streak. It goes to show that no matter who is playing on USA Basketball, we’re always trying to chase excellence. “This streak doesn’t mean much right now because we’re going into the quarterfinals and focusing on winning a gold medal, but it’s something to kind of hang your hat on later.” What started with Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi and Sylvia Fowles has now been passed on to Stewart and A’ja Wilson. A legacy of excellence that doesn’t appear it will end anytime soon. “The players change and, you know, there was a lot of concern about who’s next,” U.S. coach Cheryl Reeve said. “It was a concern when Dawn Staley and Lisa Leslie were playing and who was going to be next. Then it was Sue and (Taurasi) and then other great players, too. Now with this group they are saying, hey, we’re pretty good, too.” After going unbeaten in pool play again, the U.S. hasn’t lost a game prior to the semifinals since 1983. “We know the responsibility when you put on this jersey. There’s a lot more than yourself,” Plum said. “Everyone puts pride to the side. We have a common goal. We have some amazing players on this team.” The Americans (5-0) won their pool games by an average of 46.2 points and never trailed in any of them. Now they will wait to see who they draw in the quarterfinals. The U.S. was coming off a record rout of South Korea in which the team broke the World Cup record for points with 145. While the Americans didn’t match that number, they put the game out of reach in the first 10 minutes, going up 33-15. The lead ballooned to 63-31 at halftime. Bosnia and Herzegovina put together a small run to start the third quarter, but the U.S. scored the final 19 points of the period. Once again they used a dominant inside performance, outscoring Bosnia and Herzegovina 84-28 in the paint led by Wilson, Stewart and Brionna Jones. “It’s a huge part of our identity,” Reeve said. “Ninety-whatever we had yesterday and 84 today, we just know what we’re good at and we have players that are really understanding their opportunities for that.” The U.S. was missing Jewell Loyd, whom the team said was resting. Kahleah Copper started in her place and finished with 11 points. Nikolina Elez scored 19 points to lead the Bosniaks (0-5), who were playing in their first World Cup.

The Easiest Way To Create A Healthy Eating Plan, According To Nutritionists – World Nation News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/the-easiest-way-to-create-a-healthy-eating-plan-according-to-nutritionists-world-nation-news/ Here are some tips that you should keep in mind as you organize your week for healthy eating. Don’t miss to see it! 26 September 2022 9:51 pm meal planning Daily living is important when it comes to improving the quality of our diet. so we show you how to design a healthy weekly diet With its implementation to protect the organism. If we really don’t want to fall into the temptation of solving the intake by going for ultra-processed foods or food prepared outside the home, it is advisable to plan a menu properly and shop for food based on that. Go. Complex for a healthy diet Taking into account the nutritional recommendations for the Spanish population and trying to achieve a diet that provides all nutrients in adequate amounts, we recommend taking the following premises into account in designing a healthy diet: give: Consider the specifications of each home or consumer The first and foremost thing to achieve a healthy weekly diet is to pay attention to the specifications of each household or consumer that it intends to fulfill. In other words, it is always advisable to consider tastes and preferences, to compensate for deficiencies and deficiencies, to consider needs, biological status and possibilities, for which it may be necessary (and very helpful) to visit a nutrition professional. Is. With this in mind, we will achieve an individualized, adequate and healthy diet for each person who wishes to put it into practice. Include fruits and vegetables in all meals A fundamental step in achieving a healthy weekly diet is to include fruits and vegetables in all dishes throughout the week, which can be fresh or cooked, depending on the preparation. At least five servings of fruits and vegetables are recommended each day, striving to ensure that they are of a different type and color to guarantee a greater variety of nutrients that contribute to body health. . Use Whole Grains and Don’t Forget Legumes Quality carbohydrates are the basis of a healthy diet and its main source of energy. For this reason, we recommend using whole grains in the daily diet, always trying to include fruits and vegetables to meet the carbohydrate intake. Likewise, since we Spaniards are gradually forgetting legumes, we recommend including them at least twice a week, because, like whole grains, they provide fiber, vegetable protein and complex carbohydrates that the body needs. benefit and fill you up easily; Contrary to what happens with easily assimilated carbohydrates, such as sugar or refined flour and derivatives. Include more fish and less meat (lean) Although they are not essential foods in the daily diet, for the purpose of obtaining quality protein as well as beneficial omega-3 unsaturated fats for the body, it is advisable to reduce meat and include fish, these last foods. Trying To Make The Star In Our Cuisine At Least Twice Per Week To do this, we recommend switching to fresh and seasonal fish or, if we are looking for more practicality in the kitchen, we can use canned or canned fish which saves a lot of time when solving the preparation . Thus, we recommend those who have an omnivorous diet, to obtain quality protein in the daily diet, alternately throughout the week have fish, shellfish, eggs and lean meats (to a lesser extent). Consider dairy or other sources of calcium every day To meet nutritional needs and avoid deficiencies, we recommend, in addition to all of the complexes previously listed, to include sources of calcium on a daily basis, including dairy products, or nuts, seeds, dried algae, fatty to be able to go in. Fish or other option.. Dairy products and fatty fish, in addition to good sources of calcium, are excellent choices for adding vitamin D to the normal diet and facilitating the absorption of the mineral, thus contributing to achieving a balanced and beneficial diet for the body. contemplate between three to five daily meals The number of meals eaten each day can be very variable, especially depending on past consumption habits and the diet that is put into practice in the case of following a specific diet. Thus, we recommend eating three to five meals a day, it is not necessary to snack or snack, but to eat every three or four hours so as not to accumulate hunger, except in special cases or to be followed Takes, for example, an intermittent fasting protocol. Steps for specifying the design of a healthy diet Keeping the above basic premise in mind, we can effectively start with the design of a healthy weekly diet, for which we recommend following the steps below: Make a list of possible and frequent preparations Taking into account the characteristics of each household or consumer, and considering the tastes, needs and possibilities, we recommend listing the possible food or dishes to be prepared. Thus, for example, if we regularly eat whole grains but consume few fruits and vegetables, we will try to add preparations that can balance our weekly menu. Similarly, we recommend avoiding preparations that involve frying and preferring the consumption of fresh and seasonal foods, to promote the achievement of a healthy, nutritious diet without added calories. distribute dishes throughout the day Considering the list of preparations prepared earlier, we will distribute the possible intake throughout the day. To do this, we will try to balance the menu every day and even weekly. In other words, if we assigned a fish-based dish with brown rice and vegetables for lunch, we would prefer other ingredients like eggs, vegetables or fruits. In this way, we will get a varied diet, which provides all the nutrients the body needs throughout the week and hence, keeps us away from deficiency and excess. Metaverse Dating: Can You Find Love Based On What NFTs You Hold? BeInCrypto
Metaverse Dating: Can You Find Love Based On What NFTs You Hold? BeInCrypto
Metaverse Dating: Can You Find Love Based On What NFTs You Hold? – BeInCrypto https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/metaverse-dating-can-you-find-love-based-on-what-nfts-you-hold-beincrypto/ Metaverse dating is here. But, are you ready for it? Well, that doesn’t matter because it is ready for you. Looking for love on dating apps can be like sifting through a bin. But what if there are other ways to find love online? And what if those ways involved all the stuff you awesome nerds love… like the metaverse, NFTs and crypto? It seems that the day has arrived where we can be matched according to our metaverse interests. There are a few ideas here, all in their absolute infancy. But they are compelling. So if you are single, and definitely not loving it, then read on. A new app called metaMATCH will launch any day now. It is the creation of media personality Emily Lyons. She says she started metaMATCH because online dating lacks humanity. “To date, the online experience has provided many shortcuts but primarily connects individuals based upon superficialities. We have become so obsessed with our online personas and the idea of perfection, that many individuals lose sight of who they really are and the type of person with whom they can establish a meaningful relationship.” metaMATCH will unfold in functionality over the coming months. At first, it will match people based on what NFT communities they are in, and what NFTs they own. The app can identify commonalities based on shared psychographics, and match based on that person’s unique online behavior. Says Lyons, “So many dating apps are based on the premise of ‘swipe left, swipe right,’ but we believe that people are more than just a photo. From ‘in your brain’ to ‘on-chain,’ we want to help people connect on a deeper level and create meaningful relationships.” The app is also a hybrid matchmaker. That is, users can book a coaching session with dating experts and get advice on how to have a good conversation, what to wear on a date, and how to stop being so anxious. So if you are an anxious NFT nerd, put that app on your phone ASAP. Dating DAOs Yes, there are now dating DAOs.  If you don’t know what a DAO is, then read up here first. A dating DAO is a dating app like Tinder or Bumble, but on the blockchain. Each DAO has rules and guidelines that are agreed upon by the DAO community and put into a smart contract.   So why are these rising as an alternative to existing Web2 dating apps? Because people are falling out of love with swiping. The early days of Web2 dating apps seemed to be exciting for user. However, now, it has been widely reported that such apps make people miserable, and aren’t leading to connections like they used to. Dating app fatigue has definitely set in. So something new is definitely needed to fill the gap. Dating DAO members can vote on the way the DAO operates. They can decide how people are matched with each other. If that process is a hot mess, they can vote again to improve the process. An example is Metacubes. Members can Date-to-Earn on Web3. Metacubes say that Date-toEarn on Web3 sets them apart from traditional face-swiping dating apps. “With our platform, users can utilize NFT avatars to venture through different cities to socialize, form relationships, and enable chats.” To join, users must attain membership via NFTs. The initial mint price is 300 USDT (around $300). Premium memberships are linked to NFT rarity levels. With these, enthusiasts can unlock enhanced functionalities such as extended match limits. In an interesting twist, users can earn cryptocurrency while they mingle. Rewards are based on platform usage, and chats opened, and relationships formed. The idea seems to be a good one. They have nearly 15,000 followers on their Twitter account. Early days Dating DAO success isn’t necessarily a given though.  Many DAOs specializing in dating in the early days (circa 2018) seem to have died or have folded through lack of people joining up. However, perhaps they were before their time. Now seems to be a good time to date-to-earn. Singles, go fall on the sword for us and try it out! And report back! Metaverse Dating: Catfish-Proof A new product coming soon to dating is TruYou.io. The founders say that TruYou is a portal for love in the metaverse. They offer tokenized matching with other members, verification so that catfish can’t get you and your crypto, and in-app staking, among other things. They say we are at the precipice of a blockchain-governed era. “Industries have steadily taken the leap into adopting new-age technologies, with many allocating massive resources into developing and adapting their businesses to keep pace with the evolving standards of practice. One market lagging behind the curve in this aspect is the online dating industry.” While Web2 dating apps have their problems, they say that Web3 dating can solve a lot of these. “Dating industry applications and websites lack key aspects that blockchain can provide: trustless verification, immutability, decentralization, and smart contract validation.” Anyone who has used Web2 dating apps knows that they are full of love scammers and people looking to be paid for sex. So perhaps Web3 dating could prove to be a solution? It’s early days in metaverse dating, however, the first baby that is born out of this better have a cool name like X Æ A-12. U.S. Whistleblowers Aiding Migrant Children Feared Retaliation -Watchdog – Reuters https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/u-s-whistleblowers-aiding-migrant-children-feared-retaliation-watchdog-reuters/ Activists defending the rights of migrants hold a protest near Fort Bliss to call for the end of the detention of unaccompanied minors at the facility in El Paso, Texas, U.S, June 8, 2021. REUTERS/Jose Luis Gonzalez/File Photo Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) – U.S. government workers feared retaliation for raising concerns last year about the treatment of unaccompanied migrant children on a Texas military base, where children have been held amid record arrivals at the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a watchdog report released on Tuesday. Two U.S. government employees said they experienced retaliation after they sounded alarms about the conditions at Fort Bliss, which has been used for emergency housing since March 2021, according to the report issued by the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) inspector general’s office. The alleged acts of retaliation, which included demotion and removal from assignments, may have caused a broader “whistleblower chilling,” the inspector general’s office said, “effectively scaring staff into withholding any complaints or reports of wrongdoing.” Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com The whistleblowers cited in Tuesday’s report included a staff member working with HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) leadership. ORR oversees the care and custody of unaccompanied minors. The staffer, who was not named, was allegedly demoted and transferred after raising concerns about the treatment of children at the base and the removal of certain safety checks in the program to release children to sponsors. An HHS official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters the agency would not retaliate against someone for raising a child welfare concern. The HHS official said the agency faced challenges during an emergency situation in the spring of 2021, but that conditions at Fort Bliss now are “night and day” compared to then. There are currently 589 children at the base, the official said, and children stay, on average, for 13 days before being released to parents or other sponsors. ORR’s parent agency agreed with all the report’s recommendations, including ensuring that employees and contractors are aware of whistleblower protections. In a letter to the inspector general, the agency pledged to more explicitly specify the protections in contractor agreements and trainings. Reuters Graphics Reuters Graphics The number of children caught crossing the border with Mexico rose steeply in 2021, posing operational and humanitarian challenges for U.S. President Joe Biden, a Democrat. To alleviate overcrowding in border stations, HHS opened several emergency shelters to house unaccompanied children until they could be placed with sponsors in the United States. Migrant children sent to the emergency shelters, including Fort Bliss, described crowded living conditions, spoiled food, lack of clean clothes and struggles with depression, according to child testimonials filed in court in June 2021. read more Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Reporting by Ted Hesson in Washington; Additional reporting by Kristina Cooke in San Francisco and Mica Rosenberg in New York; Editing by Aurora Ellis Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.

SW Washington Man Sentenced For Urinating In Arby’s Milkshake Mix, Possessing Child Pornography – Centralia Chronicle https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/sw-washington-man-sentenced-for-urinating-in-arbys-milkshake-mix-possessing-child-pornography-centralia-chronicle/ Becca Robbins / The Columbian A Vancouver man was sentenced Monday to more than 5 1/2  years in prison, in part, for urinating into milkshake mix while working as a manager at the Mill Plain Arby’s in October 2021. Stephen S. Sharp, 29, pleaded guilty Aug. 16 in Clark County Superior Court to three counts of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of second-degree attempted assault. Judge Derek Vanderwood ordered the agreed-upon sentence of 67 months, which also requires that Sharp register as a sex offender. Vanderwood said he hopes Sharp focuses on the required treatment while in prison. Sharp is also prohibited from going to any Arby’s restaurants. As part of the pre-sentencing investigation, detectives who interviewed Sharp said he declined to express remorse for his crimes. Defense attorney Alyosha McClain said Sharp has taken responsibility for his actions by resolving the case quickly and cooperating with law enforcement. Sharp apologized to his family and Clark County during Monday’s hearing. According to a probable cause affidavit, when detectives served a search warrant on Sharp’s cellphone — while investigating the child pornography allegations — they found a 16-second video showing someone urinating into a bag of milkshake mix. The video’s metadata showed it was recorded Oct. 30 at the Arby’s at 221 N.E. 104th Ave. Another manager at the Arby’s told detectives that on the day the video was taken, the restaurant sold at least one ice cream float and about 30 to 40 milkshakes, court records state. Sharp admitted to police he had urinated into the milkshake bag at least twice, but he claimed he was “almost sure” he threw out the bag after, according to the affidavit. The affidavit states Sharp said he was working alone in the restaurant that night and urinated into the milkshake mix for sexual gratification. He told detectives if he didn’t throw away the bag, it would have been added to other mix by the next shift and served to people. In a May email to The Columbian, an Arby’s spokesperson described Sharp’s “alleged actions” as “abhorrent and unacceptable.” The spokesperson said Arby’s had taken immediate action with the franchise group who terminated Sharp and cooperated with the criminal investigation. The Vancouver Police Department previously searched for people who might have consumed the contaminated milkshakes, but Senior Deputy Prosecutor Kasey Vu said Monday no victims had been identified. Clark County Public Health Director Dr. Alan Melnick previously said there is no significant health risk to consuming a drink contaminated with urine. Detectives had received cybertips about online and social media accounts suspected of collecting and trading child pornography. A search returned four videos of suspected child pornography shared on a video and chat app. Investigators linked the accounts to Sharp, who admitted the accounts belonged to him, the affidavit states.

California Coronavirus Updates: Canada To Soon Drop Vaccine Mandate At US-Canada Border – Capital Public Radio News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/california-coronavirus-updates-canada-to-soon-drop-vaccine-mandate-at-us-canada-border-capital-public-radio-news/ Find an updated count of COVID-19 cases in California and by county on our tracker here. Latest Updates Pfizer plans to roll out updated COVID-19 booster shots for children ages 5 to 11 Canada to soon drop vaccine mandate at US-Canada border Flu season could be headed to the U.S. early California is easing mask-wearing recommendations DOJ charges 48 people in COVID-19 pandemic funds scheme COVID-19 By The Numbers Monday, September 26 11:58 a.m.: Pfizer plans to roll out updated COVID-19 booster shots for children ages 5 to 11 Pfizer is asking the Food and Drug Administration to expand the use of its updated COVID-19 booster shot to children ages 5 to 11. As reported by the Associated Press, some 4.4 million Americans have already received one of the updated boosters since they rolled out earlier this month for anyone 12 and older. Just like with Pfizer’s original vaccine, elementary school-aged children would get a third of the dose of the updated booster. The FDA is expected to decide soon. Pfizer and its partner BioNTech also announced that they have begun a study of the updated booster in children younger than 5. 11:02 a.m.: Canada to soon drop vaccine mandate at US-Canada border An official familiar with the matter says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has signed off on Canada dropping the vaccine requirement for people who enter Canada at the end of September. Canada, like the United States, requires foreign nationals to be vaccinated when entering the country. According to the Associated Press, no change in the mandate is expected in the U.S. in the near term. Unvaccinated foreign travelers who are allowed to enter Canada are currently subjected to mandatory arrival tests and a 14-day quarantine. The officials say Trudeau has agreed to let a cabinet order enforcing mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements at the border expire Sept. 30. Saturday, September 24 12:30 p.m.: Flu season could be headed to the U.S. early After virtually disappearing for two years as the COVID-19 pandemic raged, influenza seems to be poised to stage a comeback this year in the U.S., NPR reports. And while COVID-19 is notoriously unpredictable and many restrictions have been lifted, there’s a good chance COVID cases will rise again this winter. During this year’s Southern Hemisphere winter, the flu returned to some countries like Australia, where it started ramping up months earlier than usual and caused one of the worst flu seasons in recent years. The combination of flu and coronavirus cases could seriously strain the health system, according to Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease professor at Vanderbilt University. The flu causes between an estimated 140,00 and 710,000 hospitalizations annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC is reporting that the flu is already starting to spread in parts of the south like Texas, and experts caution that very young kids who have not been exposed to flu for two years may be especially vulnerable. But experts doubt COVID and flu will hit the country at the same time because of something known as “viral interference,” a phenomenon that occurs when infection with one virus reduces the risk of catching another. “These two viruses may still both occur during the same season, but my gut feeling is they’re going to happen sequentially rather than both at the same time,” said Dr. Richard Webby, an infectious disease specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “So I’m less concerned about the twindemic.” But Webby and others are still urging people to make sure everyone in their family gets a flu shot as soon as possible, especially if flu season arrives early. Friday, September 23 11:12 a.m.: California is easing mask-wearing recommendations California’s Department of Public Health released updated guidance for the use of face masks, dropping the recommendation for universal mask wearing in indoor public spaces. Moving forward, the CDPH will follow the CDC’s Community Level Tracker in making mask-wearing recommendations. The state plans to only strongly recommend mask wearing in crowded indoor settings for all residents when the community level is high. It’ll also allow certain congregate settings — including correctional facilities, homeless and emergency shelters and cooling centers — to be mask optional. This new guidance only applies when COVID-19 levels are low. As of Friday, Sacramento county is in a low community spread level. You can check your county with the CDC Community Level Tracker. Masking changes will take effect this Friday, Sept. 23, and don’t apply to health care and long-term care settings. “This shift in masking is consistent with California’s SMARTER Plan and gives Californians the information they should consider when deciding when to wear a mask, including the rate of spread in the community and personal risk,” said CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Tomás Aragón in a statement. Here’s the CDPH’s masking recommendations, according to a deparment press release: When community COVID-19 levels are low, those at a lower risk for severe illness can choose to skip masking. Those at higher risk should consider wearing masks in crowded indoor public places. When community levels are media, those at a lower risk for severe illness to consider wearing masks in crowded indoor places. It’s recommended to wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces for those at higher risk. When community levels are high, it is recommended that everyone wears a mask indoors. Californians at higher risk for severe illness, including people who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, have certain disabilities or underlying health conditions should take extra COVID-19 precautions. Thursday, September 22 11:16 a.m.: DOJ charges 48 people in COVID-19 pandemic funds scheme The Department of Justice has charged 48 people in what prosecutors have called a scheme to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to fraud the U.S. government of $250 million. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors say the defendants obtained government funds under the guise of providing food to underprivileged children. But just a tiny fraction of the money went toward feeding kids, and the rest was instead laundered through shell companies and spent on property, luxury cars and travel. Prosecutors say it is the largest fraud case to date that deals with the misuse of government funds during the pandemic. 10:49 a.m.: Florida man pleads guilty to $7.2 million COVID-19 relief fraud A Florida man who fled the U.S. and was eventually arrested in Croatia has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $7.2 million in COVID-19 relief funds. As reported by the Associated Press, court records show that 46-year-old Don Cisternino pleaded guilty Tuesday in Orlando federal court to wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and illegal money transaction. He faces up to 32 years in federal prison at a scheduled hearing for Jan 5. According to the plea agreement, Cisternino submitted a fraudulent loan application for a Paycheck Protection Program loan in May 2020. He claimed his company had 441 employees and monthly payroll expenses in 2019 of more than $2.8 million. The company actually had no employees other than Cisternino. Wednesday, September 21 12:28 p.m.: FDA concedes delays in response to baby formula shortages U.S. health regulators say their response to the ongoing infant formula shortage was slowed by delays in processing a whistleblower complaint and test samples from the nation’s largest formula factory. According to the Associated Press, the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday published its first formal report detailing the factors that led to the shortage, which forced the U.S. government to import formula from overseas. The report highlights several key problems at the regulatory agency. Those include unclear procedures for vetting whistleblower complaints about company violations. The FDA also noted that it had to reschedule its initial inspection of the Abbott plant due to cases of COVID-19 among company staff. That delay came on top of earlier missed inspections because the agency pulled its inspectors from the field during the pandemic. 11:42 a.m.: ‘Our world is in peril’: UN leaders push for solutions The world’s problems are seizing the spotlight as the U.N General Assembly’s yearly meeting of world leaders opens. As reported by the Associated Press, the conference began on Tuesday with dire assessments of a planet beset by escalating crises and conflicts that an aging international order seems increasingly ill-equipped to tackle. U.N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says the world is “gridlocked in colossal global dysfunction.” After two years when many leaders weighed in by video because of the coronavirus pandemic, now presidents, premiers, monarchs, and foreign ministers have gathered almost entirely in person for diplomacy’s premier global event. Speakers worried about a changing climate, spiking fuel prices, food shortages, economic inequality, migration, disinformation, discrimination, hate speech, public health and more. Tuesday, September 20 12:01 p.m.: Federal authorities say they’ve uncovered largest COVID-19 fraud scheme yet Federal authorities have charged 47 people in what they’re calling the largest fraud scheme yet to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic by stealing and defrauding the government of $250 million. Documents made public Tuesday charge the defendants with counts including conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and bribery, as reported by the Associated Press. Prosecutors say the defendants created companies that ...

The Effects Of Exercise In A Pill? Anti Aging News
The Effects Of Exercise In A Pill? Anti Aging News
The Effects Of Exercise In A Pill? – Anti Aging News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/the-effects-of-exercise-in-a-pill-anti-aging-news/ There is a documented mountain of science to back up the benefits of exercise. Based on this universally accepted scientific research, health authorities recommend that people participate in a few hours of aerobic exercise every week. Exercise has so many options to choose from, including leisure sports making it more enjoyable, it’s also the not-so-new or secret form of stress-busting as the cherry on top. Physical activity is not just good for your health, it is good for the mind too, that whole body and mind thing as some may put it. Yes, it is true that people exercise to feel good in the moment as well as to help promote long-term health and mobility. Many people enjoy being physically active and are more than happy to get away from everything to exercise thanks to those feel-good endorphins that are released. After all, it’s not just about today, science has shown that what you do or don’t do today can affect your health in the years to come.  Recent headlines have been made about scientists claiming to have developed a pill that mimics the effects of vigorous exercise, this is, to say the least very interesting. You might think that this means that people can just sit back and take that pill to get exercise benefits without actually having to do anything, but at the moment you would be wrong. It’s not there, yet. This new study uses locamidazole (LAMZ), and while it did mimic physical exercise by reinvigorating muscle and bone, those effects were only observed in mice, thus far.  Anyone who follows research knows that what is observed in animals rarely translates to humans. Even if LAMZ was found to be safe and effective in humans, studies like that take years and years to be conducted and even longer to go through the regulatory standards and approval processes. On the off chance that all this happens, the well-documented benefits of actual physical exercise go well beyond its effects on muscle and bone tissue with the extent even reaching into mental health and longevity.  Realistically, if LAMZ eventually becomes available, treatments like this will more than likely be for those who are no longer able to exercise. For the rest of us, sorry to burst that bubble, but that good old-fashioned physical activity will remain the best way to maintain your healthy muscles, bones, and minds to enjoy those anti-aging benefits in the years to come.  There’s a pill for just about everything, but if you are looking for a prescription for health, pretty much every doctor will recommend that you follow a healthy lifestyle, which includes getting enough sleep, keeping stress in check, nurturing social bonds, having a positive mindset, following a healthy diet, and being physically active. There is no magic pill for the benefits that living a healthful lifestyle can provide, you need to put in the work. Along the way, you may have some setbacks, but consider those learning opportunities that you can grow from and carry on in your journey because you are worth it. Be well.

I am a snacker at my very core. Outside of my three meals a day, you’ll always find me either hoarding a big bag of chips while I watch Netflix or munching on some grapes and biccies while I work from home. The only trouble with this habit is that it often ends in one of two ways. A) with me being wholly doused in cheese powder or B) me finding my grubby, oily prints (and a whole lot of crumbs) sprawled all over my laptop keyboard or phone screen closely after. Sometimes both, if I’m being honest. That’s why, when I was served this legendary device on my TikTok FYP, I knew my manifestation crystals were doing something for me up there. Enter: finger chopsticks (aka the future, folks). To get down to the nitty-gritty of it, this little kitchen gadget is basically a tweezer and chopstick hybrid because it’s connected at the top and is small enough to fit between your pointer and middle finger. All you have to do is pull your fingers together, and it’ll allow you to pick up ample chips and other small snacks without the food actually ever touching your hands. This means long gone are the days of having an oil fest build up on your keys, nor having the tips of your fingers (and anything in a one-metre radius) turn bright orange from a bag of Extreme Cheese Doritos. @snack.stick Best purchase of 22 #fyp #gamer #worklife ♬ original sound – sweet bee I wouldn’t call myself a gamer (because Animal Crossing and Sims are the only two games in my arsenal), but loads of people in the comments are also saying this baby is the answer to gaming and snacking seamlessly, too. But I’ll let you all be the judge of that because here’s precisely where you can locate these gaming chopsticks, godsends: Snactiv Finger Snacking Tool Snactiv Snacking Tool, $43.80 As seen on that sick Shark Tank show where entrepreneurs come and pitch their cool business ideas, this device is deemed the official snacking tool on the market. It’s durable and sleek, and the ergonomic finger slot ensures comfortable wear for all users 13 and up. It’s also got rubber tips at each end to ensure they efficiently grip your snack of choice because nothing is worse than turning your snack session into that insufferable claw arcade game. The only issue is that this kitchen gadget is a bit pricey on Amazon, which seems to be the only retailer that stocks Snactiv down under. Free-Hands Finger Chopsticks Free-Hands Finger Chopsticks, $7.16 with the code ‘SVE20’ If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative that still does the job, this alternative kitchen gadget will be your ride-or-die, my friend. While it’s not made from the same bougie and ergonomic materials as the Snactiv option, it still seamlessly allows you to snack on your munchies without a hitch. The ends of these gaming chopsticks also don’t have rubber tips, but they boast a little cerated edge to ensure your snacks don’t just slip out of reach. This one retails for $7.16, but if you’re after a bulk order so your mates can get in on this, you can get a four-pack for $11.32, which means you get one for just $2.83. REUTERS/Leah Millis/Pool Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com TOKYO, Sept 27 (Reuters) – U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will visit the de-militarised zone (DMZ) separating the Koreas on Thursday in a bid to show Washington’s commitment to the South’s security, according to U.S. and South Korean officials. The visit, announced on Tuesday, comes days after North Korea fired a ballistic missile towards the sea and amid fears of a possible nuclear test as the Biden administration’s attempts at outreach to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have failed. Harris’ visit was publicly confirmed by South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo during a meeting with the U.S. vice president in Tokyo and was later confirmed by a U.S. official. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com The U.S. vice president is in the region to lead a U.S. presidential delegation to the funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Tuesday. “Nearly 70 years since the Korean Armistice, the visit will underscore the strength” of the “alliance” between Seoul and Washington “in the face of any threats posed” by North Korea, the U.S. official said. The official asked not to be named discussing a trip that Harris has not officially announced. Harris would tour the DMZ, meet with service members, receive an operational briefing from U.S. commanders, reflect on the shared sacrifice of American and South Korean soldiers and reaffirm the “ironclad” commitment to South Korean security, the official added. “Your visit to the DMZ and Seoul will be very symbolic demonstrations of your strong commitments to security and peace on the Korean Peninsula,” Han said. Many foreign dignitaries visiting the region make a trip to the heavily fortified DMZ separating the two Koreas. Several former U.S. presidents, and Biden himself before he became president, have visited the DMZ, but former President Donald Trump became the first to have met a North Korean leader there when he held a third meeting with Kim in June 2019 as part of his unsuccessful effort to persuade Kim to give up his nuclear and missile programs. The DMZ is often described as the world’s last Cold War frontier and has existed since the 1950-53 Korean War ended in a armistice rather than a peace treaty. North Korea says it maintains its sovereign right to self defence, and has accused both the United States and South Korea of a hostile posture to the country. (WIVB) — Mercy Hospital is unveiling new technology to improve communication between first responders and doctors. The new “Pulsara” system works on smartphones and tablets. It allows first responders to send live video and information right from the ambulance. “Time is of the essence for those patients so the faster we can communicate with the specialists to get them into the cardiac catheterization lab or into the lab for our stroke patients the better the outcome is going to be and that’s why Catholic Health has put Pulsara in place to improve our patient outcomes,” said Emily James, the system manager of emergency and neuroscience services at the hospital. Mercy Hospital says it’s the first hospital in the region to use the technology. Catholic Health says it will roll out the system at its other hospitals.
